AI 速览:该论文提出首个面向通用多模态大语言模型的分子毒性修复基准任务ToxiMol及自动评估框架ToxiEval,并系统评测43个主流模型。

Toxicity remains a leading cause of early-stage drug development failure. Despite advances in molecular design and property prediction, the task of molecular toxicity repair, generating structurally valid molecular alternatives with reduced toxicity, has not yet been systematically defined or benchmarked. To fill this gap, we introduce ToxiMol, the first benchmark task for general-purpose Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) focused on molecular toxicity repair. We construct a standardized dataset covering 11 primary tasks and 660 representative toxic molecules spanning diverse mechanisms and granularities. We design a prompt annotation pipeline with mechanism-aware and task-adaptive capabilities, informed by expert toxicological knowledge. In parallel, we propose an automated evaluation framework, ToxiEval, which integrates toxicity endpoint prediction, synthetic accessibility, drug-likeness, and structural similarity into a high-throughput evaluation chain for repair success. We systematically assess 43 mainstream general-purpose MLLMs and conduct multiple ablation studies to analyze key issues, including evaluation metrics, candidate diversity, and failure attribution. Experimental results show that although current MLLMs still face significant challenges on this task, they begin to demonstrate promising capabilities in toxicity understanding, semantic constraint adherence, and structure-aware editing.

AI 速览:作者提出 LongBanana,一个由专家设计并验证的长上下文多参考图像合成基准,并配套 LongBanana-Gen 智能体框架来评测和提升这类生成任务。

We introduce LongBanana, to our knowledge the first expert-designed and expert-verified benchmark for long-context multi-reference image synthesis in the age of agent-driven image generation. The task requires retrieving dispersed visual evidence, rejecting distractors, binding entities and relations, and composing one coherent final image from multiple references. LongBanana contains 90 carefully designed tasks organized by a 3-by-3 taxonomy; each task includes about 32 reference images, 20 constraints, and 50 evaluation items, yielding 4,670 expert-specified atomic evaluation items in total. Its graph-grounded evaluation design instantiates each task with reference images and an entity-relation graph, then converts node, edge, and whole-graph obligations into checklist items for Content Fidelity, Relational Binding, and Global Constraint Satisfaction. Reviewed expert labels include a 15% double-labeled subset with 89.4% exact agreement and 0.83 quadratic weighted kappa. We further introduce LongBanana-Gen, an agent-harness framework for long-horizon image generation; experiments show that minimal agent harnesses improve over direct generation, while a ReAct-Plan-Exec-Reflect (RPR) workflow yields harness-dependent gains by strengthening evidence grounding and repair. Together, LongBanana provides an auditable testbed for measuring dense visual evidence use and a shared target for developing stronger agent-driven image-generation systems. Code and data are available at the project page: https://long-banana.com/.

LLMs Don't Know What They Know: Benchmarking Temporal Self-Knowledge for Financial Backtesting

AI 速览:作者提出 FinDendro 基准,检验大语言模型对自身时间性知识边界的自述是否可信,并发现自述普遍低估其实际知识。

Financial backtests of large language models (LLMs) are meaningful only if the model did not already know the outcomes it is asked to predict. Practitioners guard against this by trusting a vendor's stated knowledge cutoff, by asking the model what it knows, or by instructing it to answer as of a past date. To verify whether any of these safeguards can be trusted, we introduce FinDendro, a benchmark of 2,226 dated U.S. facts from 1999 to 2026, covering monthly macroeconomic series, month-end stock prices and Federal Reserve decisions. Each fact yields four prompts: a value question, Recall and Predict questions that pair each candidate value with a claim of knowing or guessing without a declared date, and a Predict question with a historical declared date. Controls for persistence and dominant outcomes keep chance accuracy near 0.27. Results show that for most frontier models, self-reports understate knowledge. GPT-5 answers 76% of controlled facts correctly but claims to know 38%, and answers 61% of the facts it says it does not know. Knowledge claims can persist beyond the measured knowledge boundary, by up to seven quarters, and a declared date removes most of the claims of prior knowledge while leaving accuracy unchanged. Backtests inside a model's training window therefore cannot be certified leak-free by self-report, instruction or stated cutoff. These findings motivate behavioral measurement of temporal knowledge boundaries, and FinDendro provides a benchmark and procedure for selecting backtest periods based on demonstrated factual knowledge.

EvoGuard: Mitigating Degradation in Online Skill Evolution

Yanli Wang, Zichen Bai, Tianyue Jiang, Kunming Shao, Junhao Shi, Xueqin Liu, Jinguo Sun, Muye Li 等 15 位作者

Skills let language agents reuse experience across tasks as natural-language documents. Recent work evolves skills from interaction, but existing methods have limitations when skills evolve online. Prior methods update a skill offline from a batch of trajectories collected over many tasks. Some then adopt the new skill without any check, which can degrade the skill over time. Others keep it only if it improves performance on a held-out validation set, which is too slow and costly to run after every update. We introduce EvoGuard, a pairwise skill selector that mitigates skill degradation at low latency and cost. We first run the agent iteratively to build pools of skills and score each skill on a private test set to obtain utility labels. We pair the skills and use rejection sampling to keep only pairs with a clear utility gap. The selector is trained on the logits of two label tokens to pick the better skill. At deployment it decides in a single forward pass, which is significantly faster than evaluation on the private test set. Compared with adopting every new skill, EvoGuard improves success by 11.0% on ALFWorld, 5.9% on ScienceWorld, and 2.7% on LiveCodeBench.

LITMUS: Benchmarking Behavioral Jailbreaks of LLM Agents in Real OS Environments

Chiyu Zhang, Lu Zhou, Xiaogang Xu, Huiqin Yang, Bendong Jiang, Xiaolei Zhang, Yiran Zhao, Ruyi Chen 等 11 位作者

The rapid proliferation of LLM-based autonomous agents in real operating system environments introduces a new category of safety risk beyond content safety: behavior jailbreak, where an adversary induces an agent to execute dangerous OS-level operations with irreversible consequences. Existing benchmarks either evaluate safety at the semantic layer alone, missing physical-layer harms, or fail to isolate test cases, letting earlier runs contaminate later ones. We present LITMUS (LLM-agents In-OS Testing for Measuring Unsafe Subversion), a benchmark addressing both gaps via a semantic-physical dual verification mechanism and OS-level state rollback. LITMUS comprises 819 high-risk test cases organized into one harmful seed subset and six attack-extended subsets covering three adversarial paradigms (jailbreak speaking, skill injection, and entity wrapping), plus a fully automated multi-agent evaluation framework judging behavior at both conversational and OS-level physical layers. Evaluation across frontier agents reveals three findings: (1) current agents lack effective safety awareness, with strong models (e.g., Claude Sonnet 4.6) still executing 40.64% of high-risk operations; (2) agents exhibit pervasive Execution Hallucination (EH), verbally refusing a request while the dangerous operation has already completed at the system level, invisible to every prior semantic-only framework; and (3) skill injection and entity wrapping attacks achieve high success rates, exposing pronounced agent vulnerabilities. LITMUS provides the first standardized platform for reproducible, physically grounded behavioral safety evaluation of LLM agents in real OS environments.

From Solvers to Research: Large Language Model-Driven Formal Mathematics at the Research Frontier

Eric Jiang, Xiao Liang, Junyi Zhang, Justin Baker, Zhi Zhang, Yingjia Wan, Yubei Li, Jinxi Yu 等 41 位作者

Large language models have made rapid progress in generating machine-checked proofs for well-defined mathematical problems. Extending this progress to research mathematics requires more than solving isolated theorems. Research involves choosing questions, developing definitions and conjectures, connecting results, and combining formal proofs with expert judgment. This survey examines how LLM-driven systems can support these broader activities. We review formal-mathematics tasks, datasets, and autoformalization, and organize proof-generation methods into three overlapping areas: training strategies, inference-time search and adaptation, and agentic workflows. We then examine benchmark results, selected research projects, and platforms for collaborative mathematical work. A central distinction runs throughout the survey: checking a formal proof does not by itself establish that it captures the intended problem or makes a new mathematical contribution. We therefore distinguish theorem benchmarks, repository tasks, formalization projects, and research claims, and discuss the evidence needed to assess each. Finally, we identify five priorities for progress: better data and evaluation, representations of mathematical relationships, conjecture and concept generation, reliable tool integration, and human--AI collaboration. Together, these perspectives connect advances in proof generation to the practical demands of mathematical research.

Harness the Memory: A Holistic Evaluation of Memory Substrates in Memory Agents

Wei-Chieh Huang, Weizhi Zhang, Yuchen Wu, Yankai Chen, Eric Hanchen Jiang, Wooseong Yang, Yiwei Yang, Henry Peng Zou 等 15 位作者

Memory is becoming core infrastructure for long-horizon LLM agents, yet existing evaluations offer limited guidance on which memory substrate, namely the underlying medium in which memory is represented and stored, should be used under different operating regimes. We introduce a unified suite of 26 performance and efficiency metrics, including auxiliary-LLM costs attributed to the write, read, and management stages, and apply it identically to 11 memory methods in a controlled harness that varies only the memory substrate. The methods cover dense and sparse indices, text records, structural stores, hierarchical stores, refinement-based memories, parametric updates, and activation-compatible context mechanisms, and we evaluate them with three backbone models on four benchmark suites spanning user-centric question answering and agent-centric decision-making. Our results show that no single substrate consistently dominates: broad retrieval benefits long-context factual QA, while excessive retrieval can harm sequential decision-making by shifting attention away from action-critical context. Scalability introduces a further routing axis, as substrates that perform well at moderate history lengths can become costly or brittle at longer horizons. These regime-dependent reversals make substrate selection a design axis. Choosing a substrate per observable operating regime improves over the best fixed substrate on our benchmarks, while query-level routing leaves most of the oracle headroom open. The findings provide empirical guidance for designing efficient, reliable, and regime-aware long-term memory for LLM agents.

Population-Aligned Persona Generation for LLM-based Social Simulation

Zhengyu Hu, Jianxun Lian, Zheyuan Xiao, Max Xiong, Tianfu Wang, Teng Xiao, Yuxuan Lei, Fengqing Jiang 等 13 位作者

Recent advances in large language models (LLMs) have enabled large-scale, high-fidelity social simulations, creating new opportunities for computational social science. However, constructing persona sets that faithfully reflect real-world population diversity remains a key challenge. Existing studies often emphasize agentic frameworks and simulation environments, while paying less attention to persona generation and the biases introduced by unrepresentative persona sets. In this paper, we propose a systematic framework for synthesizing high-quality, population-aligned persona sets for LLM-driven social simulation. Our approach begins by leveraging LLMs to generate narrative personas from long-term social media data, followed by rigorous quality assessment to filter out low-fidelity profiles. We then apply importance sampling to achieve global alignment with reference psychometric distributions, such as the Big Five personality traits. To address the needs of specific simulation contexts, we further introduce a task-specific module that adapts the globally aligned persona set to targeted subpopulations. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method significantly reduces population-level bias and enables accurate, flexible social simulation for a wide range of research and policy applications.

Farther the Shift, Sparser the Representation: Analyzing OOD Mechanisms in LLMs

Mingyu Jin, Yutong Yin, Jingcheng Niu, Qingcheng Zeng, Wujiang Xu, Mengnan Du, Wei Cheng, Zhaoran Wang 等 10 位作者

In this work, we investigate how the internal representations of Large Language Models (LLMs) change with inputs of increasing difficulty. Although sparsity changes may not be obvious for individual samples, dataset-level results reveal a consistent statistical trend: as task difficulty increases (e.g., harder questions, longer contexts, or more answer choices), the last hidden states of LLMs become systematically sparser. In short, \textbf{the harder the task, the sparser the representation}. This sparsity--difficulty relation is observable across diverse models and domains, suggesting that harder inputs drive more concentrated activation patterns in the last hidden state. Through a series of controlled analyses and learning-dynamics experiments, we show that representational density is a learned property of data familiarity: models develop rich, distributed representations for mastered patterns, while unfamiliar inputs default to sparser activations. Our finding is also actionable. We illustrate this with Sparsity-Guided Curriculum In-Context Learning (SG-ICL), which uses sparsity to select few-shot demonstrations matched to the query's difficulty, outperforming standard CoT and Auto-CoT baselines on MATH-500. Our study provides new insights into how LLM representations reflect task difficulty and how this signal can be leveraged for inference. Learning When Human Decisions Matter: Executor-Relative Consultation Value for LLM Agents

Shuli Jiang, Khushbu Pahwa, Yuting Zhang, Yi Zhang, Wei Xia, Stefano Soatto

Large language models increasingly automate complex tasks, but human decision capacity does not scale with their capabilities. In many applications, humans remain essential for providing private context, authority, or judgments unavailable to the agent. We formulate human decision capacity allocation: given multiple consultation opportunities and a limited budget, at which decisions should an LLM agent consult a human? The central challenge is estimating consultation value, which is executor-dependent because the same human input may benefit different downstream agents differently. We introduce Consultation Value Distillation (CVD), which estimates consultation values offline using Monte Carlo executor rollouts and distills these values into lightweight predictors for budgeted allocation, requiring no rollout-based value estimation at deployment. Across five batch and three sequential settings with two frontier executors, CVD improves allocation through joint and continuation-aware value learning, while independent consultation values remain competitive in several settings. CVD also broadly outperforms direct prompting and Value of Information where applicable, remains robust with substantially less rollout supervision, and enables nearly lossless approximate allocation at low search cost.

Suppressing Misaligned Behaviors in Language Models, Durably

Luxi He, Pengcheng Jiang, Jifan Zhang, Jiawei Han, Danqi Chen

AI 速览:作者构建两个故意训练出特定错位行为的模型生物,形式化事后行为抑制问题,并提出 PEARL 方法以追求即时抑制、训练后持久性与通用能力保持的平衡。

Undesired model behaviors can emerge or re-emerge at any stage of training. Once observed, how effectively can we suppress them? To study this question, we first construct two model organisms--language models deliberately trained to exhibit a specific misalignment--that differ in what triggers the behavior. The narrow-trigger organism misbehaves only when the prompt contains a specific cue: it cheats on multiple-choice questions by following a planted hint that points to a wrong answer, and behaves normally otherwise. The broad-trigger organism has no such cue: after fine-tuning on insecure code, it gives harmful responses across a wide range of open-ended prompts. We then formalize post-hoc behavioral suppression and evaluate methods along three criteria: immediate suppression of the target behavior, durability under further training, and preservation of general capability. We compare standard methods--SFT, GRPO, and gradient-ascent unlearning--along these dimensions. Building on prior work on alignment shallowness, we hypothesize that more durable suppression requires the ability to recover from a wider range of misalignment states. We introduce Prefix-Expanded Adversarial Reinforcement Learning (PEARL), a GRPO variant that augments rollouts with continuations from intermediate states sampled along cached organism trajectories. Across both organism settings and two model families (Qwen3-4B, GPT-OSS-20B), PEARL achieves strong immediate suppression while preserving task accuracy, and remains durable under further fine-tuning on either the organism's data or unrelated data. It obtains the greatest benefit when the undesirable behavior is broad and cannot be addressed through targeted SFT. Together, our framework and method offer a step toward more durable post-hoc removal of undesired behaviors.

DAMI: Dual-Axis Memory Initialization for Enhanced Long-Context Retrieval in Gated Linear Attention

Zhangchi Feng, Harry Jiang, Yangyifei Luo, Ray Zhang, Richong Zhang

Linear attention scales linearly with sequence length, but its finite-state memory can limit long-context retrieval. In gated linear recurrences, memory retention depends on state decay, which is shaped jointly by gate parameters A_log and dt_bias and by input activations. In controlled Gated DeltaNet (GDN) experiments, both parameters remain highly correlated with their initial values after training, highlighting the importance of initialization. Therefore, we introduce Dual-Axis Memory Initialization (DAMI), which jointly configures these parameters before training. DAMI assigns geometric timescales across heads for varied retrieval distances and a low-high-low input-sensitivity profile across layers. A small activation sample calibrates the GDN-family implementation to match both behavioral targets without adding trainable parameters. Across GDN, KDA, GDN2, Mamba-2, and RWKV-7, DAMI improves average RULER-style retrieval accuracy by 5.29 to 16.71 percentage points over the corresponding random-initialization baselines. Performance on language modeling, commonsense reasoning, and 2K real-world retrieval remains broadly comparable to those baselines. Our code is available at https://speedai.com/research/dami.

Think Less, Locally: Local Preference Learning for Reasoning Compression

Muyao Yuan, Liyan Xu, Weizhan Zhang, Muyan Jiao, Jiangnan Li, Jinchao Zhang, Jie Zhou

Large reasoning models achieve strong performance on challenging tasks, but their long chain-of-thought often incurs substantial inference costs by continuing to deliberate after sufficient information has been obtained. Existing reasoning compression methods primarily operate on reasoning trajectories, paying less attention to the local decision of whether further reasoning is necessary given the current state. We propose LoCo, a local preference learning method for reasoning compression. LoCo detects candidate overthinking states from the model's own traces, freezes the corresponding reasoning prefixes, regenerates shorter verified continuations from the same states, and trains on the resulting state-conditioned preference pairs with DPO. This formulation teaches the model when to continue reasoning and when to conclude, rather than simply encouraging shorter trajectories overall. We construct training data entirely from self-generated mathematical traces and evaluate LoCo on five mathematical and three code generation benchmarks. LoCo reduces completion length by 41.7\%--45.4\% on mathematics and 23.4\%--36.3\% on code, while maintaining or improving accuracy and achieving the best AUC across all code benchmarks. LoCo consistently improves the accuracy-efficiency trade-off on mathematics and transfers effectively to code generation despite math-only training, demonstrating the cross-domain generality of local preference learning for reasoning compression. The code and model will be publicly released at https://github.com/MuyaoYuan/LoCo.

Beyond Isolated Dots: Benchmarking Structured Table Construction as Deep Knowledge Extraction

Tianyun Zhong, Guozhao Mo, Yanjiang Liu, Yihan Chen, Lingdi Kong, Xuanang Chen, Yaojie Lu, Hongyu Lin 等 12 位作者

Large language models (LLMs) are increasingly expected to extract and synthesize structured information from complex real-world documents, yet they typically produce unstructured, hard-to-verify paragraph-style outputs. We introduce AOE (Arranged and Organized Extraction), a bilingual benchmark that evaluates LLMs' ability to distill long-form, multi-document inputs (64k to 1.8M tokens) into structured tables. AOE comprises 12 tasks across four domains (academic, financial, legal, and medical), each grounded in genuine analytical needs, with schema guidance provided to isolate extraction quality from formatting variance. We evaluate 12 frontier LLMs (both open-weight and proprietary) under four generation settings of increasing autonomy: direct full-document input, RAG-based retrieval, offline document-browsing agent, and online web-search agent. Even the best-performing model achieves only 42.7% Cell F1, and retrieval-augmented approaches often degrade rather than improve performance, revealing that structured extraction from long contexts remains a fundamental challenge - an "Area of Effect" (AOE) that impacts all tested systems.

Large Language Model-Assisted Adaptive Heuristic Search for Agile Earth Observation Satellite Scheduling

He Wang, Yeye Liu, Ruijie Li, Xuemei Jiang, Junyu Wu, Lining Liu Zhuoqi Man, Tao Li, Yanjie Song

Agile Earth observation satellites must coordinate imaging tasks within limited observation windows, while accounting for attitude maneuvering and onboard energy constraints. Competition among observation opportunities makes scheduling performance sensitive to the heuristic rules used for task selection. This letter proposes a large language model (LLM)-assisted adaptive heuristic search method for agile Earth observation satellite scheduling. The LLM generates an initial heuristic rule according to the characteristics of the scheduling instance. During the subsequent ant colony search, search performance and scheduling information are fed back to the LLM to refine the heuristic rule. The proposed modifications are evaluated through paired solution constructions before being incorporated into the search process. A unified scheduling procedure determines task selection, satellite assignment, and observation timing under the operational constraints. Experiments on six scheduling scenarios involving 50--200 imaging tasks demonstrate that the proposed method achieves 4.3\%--9.6\% higher mean observation benefit than the strongest baseline.

Mindscape-Aware Retrieval Augmented Generation for Improved Long Context Understanding

Yuqing Li, Jiangnan Li, Zheng Lin, Ziyan Zhou, Junjie Wu, Jie Zhou, Mo Yu

Humans understand long and complex texts by relying on a holistic semantic representation of the content. This global view helps organize prior knowledge, interpret new information, and integrate evidence dispersed across a document, as revealed by the Mindscape-Aware Capability of humans in psychology. Current Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems lack such guidance and therefore struggle with long-context tasks. In this paper, we propose Mindscape-Aware RAG (MiA-RAG), the first framework to formulate mindscape-aware retrieval and generation as a unified conditioning paradigm for LLM-based RAG. MiA-RAG builds a mindscape through hierarchical summarization and conditions both retrieval and generation on this global semantic representation. This enables the retriever to form enriched query embeddings and the generator to reason over retrieved evidence within a coherent global context. We evaluate MiA-RAG across diverse long-context and bilingual benchmarks for evidence-based understanding and global sense-making. It consistently surpasses baselines, and further analysis shows that it aligns local details with a coherent global representation, enabling more human-like long-context retrieval and reasoning.

FlagRot: Selective Rotation for Low-Bit KV Caches

Kunming Shao, Xijie Huang, Jierun Chen, Jiaqi Shao, Yanli Wang, Jiangnan Yu, Qiwei Li, Wei Zhang 等 10 位作者

Long-context inference is bound by the KV cache, which 2-bit codes could shrink about sixfold if their error stays in check. The usual remedy rotates keys before quantizing, assuming rotation always helps. However, we observe that it does not: rotation flattens a spiky piece of a key but can give a flat one a new peak, and both coexist within one key. We therefore propose FlagRot, which stores each 32-channel piece rotated or as is, whichever has the smaller calibrated attention error, and rotates the query instead when reading. We further show that how often to decide follows the quantization axis: per-channel caches such as KIVI need one decision per head, at no write cost, while per-token caches decide per key, with the choice stored in existing sign bits. At 2.5 bits per value, FlagRot lowers the twelve-model KL divergence of KIVI from 18.7 to 12.4 x 10^-3, below RotateKV on 9 of 12 models. Served as a vLLM plugin, it raises RULER at 128k tokens by +2.9 points and the LongBench v1 mean by +0.4 to +1.9 points on the three of four models where 2-bit KIVI loses accuracy. It also lowers the error of 4-bit integer and FP4 caches.

WebHarbor: Docking Real Websites for Evolving GUI Agent Environments

Zhaoyang Wang, Qianhui Wu, Boyu Gou, Demi Wang, Jiacheng Zhang, Peichun Hua, Qize Li, Shi Qiu 等 57 位作者

GUI web agents require realistic and interactive environments that remain stable during both evaluation and training. Live website evaluation suffers from changing content, access restrictions, and limited coverage of authenticated workflows, while existing synthetic environments for training often lack functional depth and visual fidelity. We propose WebHarbor, a suite of 153 executable and dockerized website environments that faithfully reconstruct the visual interfaces, content, and functional workflows of real-world web services under deterministic control. We build WebHarbor through task-driven human-agent collaboration, where environments evolve as new tasks expand their functional scope, coding agents implement the required changes, and human contributors audit visual fidelity, functional correctness, and task validity. The resulting suite comprises 3,518 tasks spanning multi-step and post-authentication workflows, where existing works often fail to cover. Beyond reliable evaluation, WebHarbor provides high-fidelity synthetic web environments for cost-efficient reinforcement learning (RL). We demonstrate that a Qwen 4B-level GUI agent trained with RL in WebHarbor generalizes to unseen tasks and performs competitively with leading open-source GUI web agents across four benchmarks. The code and data are publicly available at https://github.com/aiming-lab/WebHarbor.

DARE: Aligning LLM Agents with the R Statistical Ecosystem via Distribution-Aware Retrieval

Maojun Sun, Yue Wu, Yifei Xie, Ruijian Han, Binyan Jiang, Defeng Sun, Yancheng Yuan, Jian Huang

Large Language Model (LLM) agents excel at automating data science workflows, yet often underutilize rigorous statistical methods in R. Existing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) approaches rely on semantic similarity, ignoring the data-distribution and structural characteristics crucial for determining a statistical method's applicability. To address this, we propose DARE (Distribution-Aware Retrieval Embedding), a representation learning framework incorporating these data characteristics into R function retrieval. Our contributions are fourfold: (i) RPKB, a curated knowledge base of 8,191 high-quality R functions; (ii) DARE, the distribution-aware retrieval framework; (iii) RCodingAgent, an R-oriented agent integrating DARE for end-to-end analysis; and (iv) RStatBench, a comprehensive benchmark of 100 statistical tasks. Experiments demonstrate that DARE improves NDCG@10 by 13.43 to 32.65 percentage points across evaluated embedding models, with a MiniLM-based DARE achieving 93.92% NDCG@10 alongside high efficiency. Furthermore, integrating DARE into RCodingAgent nearly doubles mean downstream accuracy on RStatBench, increasing from 31.8% to 62.2% across ten LLMs. This work helps bridge modern LLM automation with R's established statistical computing ecosystem.

CoworkOS:Scaling Agent Coworkers for Real-world Automation

Jiajie Jin, Guanting Dong, Chengjun Pan, Xin Deng, Zhuohui Sheng, Guoqiang Wang, Tao Gui, Yutao Zhu 等 40 位作者

Rapid advances in cowork agents are shifting human-AI collaboration toward real-world automation, delivering software, designs, and other artifacts. However, such productivity work demands both high-quality delivery on complex productivity tasks and continued monitoring and decision-making over long horizons, a combination that remains an open challenge. We introduce CoworkOS, a general-purpose harness for long-horizon work that separates task strategy from execution management: the model decides actions, delegation, and acceptance, while the runtime maintains state and feedback. Its three-layer architecture enables direct execution or delegation to Subagents, synchronously or asynchronously, under stable responsibilities. Through a shared application layer, humans and agents inspect and revise the same evolving documents, presentations, CAD models, and Blender scenes, so human-in-the-loop participation can enter both through conversation and through direct modification of the work itself. To sustain continuity across agents and sessions, CoworkOS further introduces hierarchical workspaces and persistent semantic memory, so working files, key decisions, and long-running Job logs remain shareable, reusable, and resumable after interruption. Across 12 benchmarks and 6 categories of real-world applications, CoworkOS proves highly competitive with frontier agent applications such as Codex and DeepSeek Harness. As a sustained-work case study, CoworkOS uses GLM-5.3 as its backbone to conduct RSI-driven automated post-training on Qwen3.6-35B-A3B. Over five rounds, the model's average score across eight benchmarks rose from 33.19 to 42.95 (+9.76). Looking ahead, we believe CoworkOS opens a meaningful path toward general cowork-agent intelligence.

Real-time omnimodal assistants are expected to support people in everyday life, but audiovisual understanding alone does not establish whether they can provide timely and appropriate help. We introduce Omni-Life, a benchmark grounded in real-world user needs, deployment scenarios, and device-dependent observations. It combines controlled video synthesis for hazardous situations and edge cases with annotated real-world videos under a shared temporal protocol. The benchmark contains 400 videos: 290 requiring assistance, with 555 required intervention events, and 110 requiring silence throughout to test whether models can withhold unnecessary responses when no assistance is needed. We evaluate twelve configurations featuring mainstream real-time omnimodal models, jointly assessing event coverage, response content, timing, and unwanted output. At most 4.48% of videos requiring assistance are handled completely correctly. To examine practical deployment strategies, we study task reminders and response-latency tolerance. Reminders can improve recall by 17.12 percentage points but add approximately 4.6 unwanted responses per minute of reference silence. Increasing latency tolerance by 10s improves recall by at most 5.95 percentage points. These results show that existing models remain insufficient to deliver reliable assistance in real-life applications, calling for tailored model optimization in instruction following, timely proactive intervention, and withholding responses when assistance is not needed.

UXBench: Benchmarking User Experience in AI Assistants

Mengze Hong, Xia Zeng, Zeyang Lei, Sheng Wang, Chen Jason Zhang, Di Jiang, Taiming Fu, Jinfeng Huang 等 16 位作者

As AI assistants serve millions of users daily, evaluating user experience (UX) beyond general model capability has become increasingly important. We present \textbf{UXBench}, the first user-centric benchmark grounded in real user feedback signals for evaluating preference alignment and dialogue generation. The benchmark consists of three interconnected tasks, UX Judge, UX Eval, and UX Recovery, with 7,400 test instances extracted from over 70K interaction logs of a mainstream Chinese AI assistant. The dataset closely reflects real user distributions, covering 8 scenarios, 83 domains, and diverse failure patterns that pose severe challenges. Extensive experiments on 26 frontier language models provide novel insights into how well models perceive user experience and how improvements in model capability contribute to better dialogue engagement. Through analyses of model behavior and performance gaps, we document six important findings, demonstrating that user feedback prediction is a learnable capability and revealing different aspects that influence user experience. UXBench establishes a new evaluation landscape and calls for greater attention to tailored UX optimization, contributing toward a user-centric scaling law for the development of successful AI assistants. The full project is released at https://github.com/mengze-hong/UXBench.

Variable names provide priors: semantic grounding enables data-efficient numerical prediction by large language models

Xin-Rui Ma, Shi-Zhi Chen, Hai-Yan Jiang, De-Cheng Feng, Michael Beer

Large language models (LLMs) have achieved strong performance across diverse tasks, from question answering to code generation. Recent studies have found that LLMs can perform numerical prediction on tabular datasets via in-context learning. However, it remains unclear under what conditions and how LLMs use variable names and in-context examples for numerical prediction. Here we show that semantic grounding, the match between variable names and the values they describe, allows five LLMs without task-specific training to match or outperform seven supervised machine learning (ML) models across 20 datasets from nine scientific domains, particularly when examples are scarce. Reasoning traces indicate that variable names allow LLMs to draw on domain-specific knowledge acquired during pretraining. Using controlled tasks based on physical formulas, we further show that LLMs integrate domain-specific knowledge with in-context examples in a way consistent with Bayesian updating. Specifically, when the relationship between the inputs and the target cannot be inferred from the examples alone, LLMs rely on domain-specific knowledge as the prior. Conversely, as contradicting examples accumulate, LLM predictions shift progressively towards these examples, which act as the likelihood. Our work reveals how LLMs use domain-specific knowledge in numerical prediction and positions them as data-efficient predictors for data-scarce scientific domains.

Rank-Aware Differentially Private Release of Listwise Preferences for LLM Alignment

Junwei Chen, Manjiang Yu, Pengpeng Qiao, Yang Cao

Listwise preference feedback offers richer supervision for large language model (LLMs) alignment than pairwise comparisons, but a full ranking also reveals more sensitive user preferences. Existing privacy-preserving alignment methods focus mainly on pairwise feedback, while listwise alignment under local differential privacy (LDP) remains unexplored. Extending LDP to this listwise domain raises a critical challenge: the high sensitivity of the full ranking space demands excessive noise, neutralizing the benefits of listwise supervision. To address this challenge, we analyze the interaction between supervision granularity and privacy noise in downstream training, and introduce a rank-aware exponential mechanism that privatizes listwise preference data into a low-sensitivity granularity suitable for downstream alignment. The mechanism leverages ranking information to sample a fixed-size binary partition, concentrating the noise near borderline items instead of perturbing all items uniformly as randomized response (RR) does. Empirical evaluations on downstream LLM alignment tasks show that our mechanism consistently outperforms existing LDP baselines at matched privacy budgets. The code is available at https://github.com/tdsai-lab/RAEM.

Large language models hold promise for delivering safe, scientifically grounded, and personalized exercise guidance at scale, yet the sports-and-health domain still lacks curated training corpora and rigorous evaluation benchmarks. Keepace (Keepace.ai) is a domain-specialized LLM built on Qwen3.5-27B through post-training, currently optimized for Chinese-language exercise guidance across three tasks: workout plan generation, sports-and-health knowledge QA, and personal sports data analysis. In internal rubric-based evaluations designed with domain experts, Keepace outperforms its base model and larger general-purpose baselines, with the most pronounced improvements in exercise safety, boundary compliance, structured output completeness, and scientific accuracy. This report summarizes the current design, data pipeline, safety-first evaluation framework, and evaluation results of Keepace.

Diagnosing Model--Item Interactions in Language Model Benchmarks with LSIRM

Jinwen Luo, Han Jiang, Ziang Xiao, Susu Zhang

Language models with similar benchmark accuracy can succeed on different items. Overall scores do not show where their performance differs or which item properties might explain those differences. We demonstrate how the latent space item response model (LSIRM) can help evaluators investigate these patterns and their consequences for model comparison. We analyze 1,348 language models on 5,761 BBH items and compare ways of presenting and scoring answers across BBH, GPQA, MMLU-Pro, and MuSR. We examine LSIRM maps, which summarize differences in performance across models and items, alongside item properties and records of correct and incorrect responses. In BBH, nearby items on these maps often share the same correct answer, such as "Yes" or "No." Across the four benchmarks, this pattern is stronger when answers are scored using option labels, such as A, B, C, and D, than when using the text of the options. We then estimate each model's tendency to perform better or worse on items with particular correct answers and quantify how this tendency contributes to its score. This separates an estimated contribution associated with correct answers from the remaining differences in item performance. Two models' total numbers of correct answers differed by only 14 out of 5,761 items. Excluding the estimated answer-category contribution from their scores moved their ranks hundreds of places in opposite directions, while keeping all other estimates unchanged. The approach helps evaluators identify differences hidden by overall accuracy and understand how the choice of what to include in a score affects model rankings.

ViSSFlow: Unifying Video-Conditioned Sound and Speech Generation via Joint Learning

Xin Cheng, Yuyue Wang, Xihua Wang, Yihan Wu, Kaisi Guan, Yijing Chen, Peng Zhang, Xiaojiang Liu 等 10 位作者

Video-conditioned audio generation, including Video-to-Sound (V2S) and Visual Text-to-Speech (VisualTTS), has traditionally been studied as two separate tasks despite their shared objective of generating audio conditioned on visual content. Existing methods rely on task-specific architectures and training paradigms, while the possibility of a unified generative framework remains largely unexplored due to heterogeneous conditioning signals and limited joint training data. In this paper, we propose ViSSFlow, a unified flow-matching framework for both V2S and VisualTTS. To effectively integrate diverse conditioning modalities within a Diffusion Transformer (DiT), we introduce a disentangled condition aggregation mechanism that exploits the complementary roles of attention layers, using cross-attention to model semantic conditions and self-attention to capture temporally dense visual cues. Furthermore, contrary to the common assumption that joint optimization of V2S and VisualTTS causes task interference, we show that a single model can be trained end-to-end without sacrificing task-specific performance. To address the scarcity of paired training data covering both sound and speech generation, we further propose a simple yet effective feature-level data synthesis strategy that enables robust joint learning. Extensive experiments on V2S, VisualTTS, and joint generation benchmarks demonstrate that ViSSFlow consistently outperforms state-of-the-art task-specific baselines while providing a unified solution for video-conditioned audio generation. Code and demos are provided in Supplementary Material.

Reinforcement World Model Learning for LLM-based Agents

Xiao Yu, Baolin Peng, Ruize Xu, Yelong Shen, Pengcheng He, Suman Nath, Nikhil Singh, Jiangfeng Gao 等 9 位作者

Large language models (LLMs) have achieved strong performance in language-centric tasks. However, in agentic settings, LLMs often struggle to anticipate action consequences and adapt to environment dynamics, highlighting the need for world-modeling capabilities in LLM-based agents. We propose Reinforcement World Model Learning (RWML), a self-supervised method that learns action-conditioned world models for LLM-based agents on textual states using sim-to-real gap rewards. Our method aligns simulated next states produced by the model with realized next states observed from the environment, encouraging consistency between internal world simulations and actual environment dynamics in a pre-trained embedding space. Unlike next-state token prediction, which prioritizes token-level fidelity (i.e., reproducing exact wording) over semantic equivalence and can lead to model collapse, our method provides a more robust training signal and is empirically less susceptible to reward hacking than LLM-as-a-judge. We evaluate our method on ALFWorld and $τ^2$ Bench and observe significant gains over the base model, despite using no expert data, task-success rewards, or strong-LLM annotations - only an off-the-shelf embedding model as a distance metric. When combined with task-success rewards, our method outperforms direct task-success reward RL by 6.9 and 5.7 points on ALFWorld and $τ^2$ Bench respectively; it further outperforms expert-data training on ALFWorld and is comparable to it on $τ^2$ Bench.

A Proposed Rubric for Evaluating Expressed Clinical Reasoning in Large Language Model Responses

Zhangshu Joshua Jiang, Zina Ibrahim, James T. Teo

We propose a rubric for assessing expressed clinical reasoning in model responses, drawing on three bodies of work: medical education assessment frameworks (ART, SCT, Key Feature Problems and OSCE); clinical LLM benchmarks (MedR-Bench, HealthBench, TIMER-Bench, DR. BENCH, PrIME-LLM and PatientSafeBench); and general LLM reasoning evaluation research, including the Factuality-Validity-Coherence-Utility taxonomy, FaithCoT-Bench and C2-Faith. We use groundedness as a clinically oriented adaptation of the taxonomy's factuality category. The rubric brings these concepts together in a multidimensional framework for scoring free-text responses to gold-standard clinical vignettes. It includes provisional behavioural anchors, applicability rules and a separate flag for case-specific safety-critical errors. General-domain frameworks inform its design but are not treated as validated clinical instruments. The rubric does not replace case-specific reference criteria or the task-specific metrics of existing benchmarks. It has not yet been tested for inter-rater reliability, construct validity or clinical utility. Its immediate purpose is to make evaluation decisions explicit and open to scrutiny before empirical testing.

Switch-SWE: Do Coding Agents Hold Focus When Switching Between Unfinished Tasks?

Shuochen Chang, Qianli Ma, Yibo Miao, Qingyang Liu, Bingjie Gao, Haonan Zhao, Siyu Sun, Yulin Sun 等 10 位作者

Software development sessions often involve several unfinished tasks rather than one issue carried through to completion. As coding agents take on repository-level development, they need to recover an earlier task's requirements and partial progress after intervening work. Existing repository-level benchmarks typically score one issue-to-patch episode and do not directly measure whether an agent can resume a task after advancing other unfinished work in the same repository. We introduce \textbf{\ourmethod}, a benchmark for focus-task resumption in sessions that interleave unfinished tasks drawn from the same source repository, with a persistent checkout for each task. Each focus task is evaluated in matched uninterrupted and switched sessions with identical focus requirements and executable verifiers. The switched session interleaves ordered stages from other unfinished tasks in the same repository, while only the final focus patch is scored. \ourmethod~contains 200 focus tasks from 19 Python repositories, reconstructed from issue, pull-request, and review histories and rendered as 400 matched session specifications. Across 7 coding agents, interleaved unfinished work produces an average focus-task resolution gap of 11.5 percentage points, ranging from 6.0 to 15.0 percentage points. Trajectory analysis identifies cross-task requirement confusion and loss of task state as recurrent resumption behaviors. We introduce a plug-in context-management module that selects task-relevant history and maintains concise task-state summaries. On OpenCode, the module improves focus-task completion under same-repository task switching by 5.5 to 15.5 percentage points across the evaluated models. Code is available at github.com/Miraclecsc/Switch-SWE.
