TACT-KV: Tri-Axis Cosine Transform for Compressing Volumetric KV Caches in Medical VLMs

原文摘要

Vision-language models (VLMs) applied to 3D medical scans face a structural memory wall. A single CT or MRI volume produces tens of thousands of vision tokens, and the resulting key-value (KV) cache scales linearly with both batch and context. Existing KV compression methods operate on the cache's feature or token statistics, or apply 1D and 2D transforms, leaving the three-axis spatial structure in the cache unexploited. We propose TACT-KV (Tri-Axis Cosine Transform), a calibration-free KV compression method that exploits strong spatial correlations in visual KV states along all three anatomical axes of 3D scans. This correlation concentrates the KV cache energy under a frequency-domain transform. TACT-KV applies a separable 3D discrete cosine transform to the KV cache, allocates a per-layer bit budget across frequency bins via reverse water-filling (more bits to high-energy components), and quantizes each bin with a fixed scalar codebook. We derive a close-form relation: the distortion reduction from adaptive bit allocation is dominated by the spectral concentration of the transformed cache. Across six medical VLMs and two 3D CT benchmarks, TACT-KV achieves the lowest 1-bit prediction-flip rate on eleven of twelve model and dataset pairs in our main comparison. The same advantage reproduces on four general-purpose VLMs evaluated on video tasks, indicating that the benefit of exploiting three-axis structure generalizes beyond medical imaging. At equal high-bandwidth memory (HBM), TACT-KV scales the decoding batch size on a single GPU by up to $8\times$.

ArtiVidRM: Verifiable Artifact-as-Rubric Reward Modeling for Explicit Quality Articulation in Video Generation

原文摘要

Reinforcement learning has become an effective approach for improving video generation, but its success depends heavily on reliable reward models. Existing methods either map videos directly to opaque scalar scores or generate free-form rationales that are not explicitly optimized as the basis of the final judgment. We propose ArtiVidRM, a verifiable, artifact-as-rubrics video reward model that follows an observe-then-score paradigm. It first identifies visible generation artifacts and organizes them into a structured artifact list, then uses these artifacts as explicit rubrics for quality assessment. This intermediate representation grounds each score in concrete video-level evidence, making the reward more interpretable and informative for optimization. We further introduce a multi-reward reinforcement learning strategy to jointly optimize artifact prediction and quality assessment. The reward decomposes into complementary objectives that evaluate artifact prediction quality, including semantic coverage and prediction efficiency, together with a pairwise preference objective that supervises quality ranking through score differences. By jointly optimizing the intermediate artifact representation and the downstream preference prediction, the model learns to produce informative artifact lists while improving the accuracy of video quality assessment. Experiments show that ArtiVidRM achieves state-of-the-art performance on video preference benchmarks, provides effective signals for video diffusion optimization, and enables artifact-guided refinement of closed-source video generators.

Fast-Slow Evolutionary Occupancy Prediction via Controlled Dynamics

原文摘要

3D semantic occupancy prediction provides dense geometric and semantic scene representations for autonomous driving, where both high accuracy and low response latency are crucial for safe downstream forecasting and planning. Existing methods usually exhibit different accuracy-latency characteristics. Performance-oriented models provide stronger geometric and semantic predictions, while deployment-friendly models provide faster responses. This motivates EvoOcc, a fast-slow evolutionary occupancy prediction framework that jointly exploits their complementary strengths to improve the accuracy-latency balance without changing the upstream architectures. EvoOcc models evolutionary occupancy prediction as a continuous time controlled dynamical system, enabling flexible adaptation to variable slow system delays and irregular fast system arrivals. The framework further decomposes the evolution process into dual state evolution where ego state evolution compensates for the deterministic coordinate shifts and scene state evolution models the genuine geometric and semantic scene changes. Extensive experiments on three different fast-slow system pairs and irregular prediction arrivals show that EvoOcc consistently improves over fast system baselines while maintaining much lower latency than the slow system, indicating a favorable accuracy-latency balance and stable behavior under practical inference situations.

RIFT: Residual-Informed Flow Transfer for One-Step Generative Video Compression

原文摘要

Recent advances in video generation have enabled generative video compression to reconstruct details lost during coding using pretrained spatiotemporal priors. However, a substantial gap remains between codec-induced degradation and the perturbation trajectories learned by flow-matching models. In this paper, we identify a compression-dependent directional mismatch that degradation-strength-based timestep calibration alone cannot resolve. Compressed latents remain strongly aligned across codec operating points, while their reconstruction residuals vary substantially in magnitude and direction. To bridge this gap, we propose RIFT, a Residual-Informed Flow Transfer framework for one-step generative video compression. At its core, RIFT introduces a Residual Geometry Inducer (RGI) that converts the pretrained flow prediction into a content-adaptive restoration update using decoder-visible codec cues. RGI integrates flow-timestep conditioning with a learned full-band residual-strength estimate and content-conditioned direction and gain modulation, aligning the orientation and magnitude of the update with the compression-dependent residual geometry. Extensive experiments on three public video compression benchmarks show that RIFT outperforms competing generative video compression methods. The code is publicly available on RIFT.

PulmoWorld: An Asynchronous Multimodal Medical World Model for Longitudinal Pneumonia Dynamics

原文摘要

Pneumonia changes across respiration, inflammation, and organ function, while the measurements that describe it arrive at different times and are often incomplete. We introduce PULMOWORLD, a world model for longitudinal pneumonia dynamics that connects asynchronous state estimation, recursive simulation, and evidence-constrained planning. History-aware filtering separates state propagation from observation-driven correction, so a measurement updates the shared belief only when it is observed. That belief supports recursive forecasts of clinical values and modality representations, and summaries of future prognosis. Cap-MBRL searches imagined continuations inside an authorized action set and replaces a frozen fallback only when a candidate meets the risk budget and a predicted-cost margin. On the pneumonia cohort MASS, recursive forecasts are competitive with task-trained sequence models, and simulated future states retain prognostic information. Trained separately on public MIMIC-IV-CXR chest radiographs and clinical trajectories, this model improves prognostic discrimination over latest-value fusion in development and is competitive on long-horizon error on the locked pneumonia panel. In five known-mechanism MASS-Syn environments, Cap-MBRL lowers selection regret relative to direct fallback execution.

MedVTok: A General-Purpose Medical Visual Tokenizer

原文摘要

Multimodal medical AI requires a common visual interface for encoding heterogeneous imaging evidence for patient condition modeling. However, existing medical visual tokenizers are often tied to a specific dimension and imaging modality, forcing multimodal systems to rely on fragmented and poorly reusable representations. We introduce MedVTok, a general-purpose visual tokenizer that maps 2D images and 3D volumes from diverse imaging modalities into a unified token space. Building such a tokenizer poses two key challenges: preserving anatomical structure across dimensions and capturing clinical semantics across modalities. To this end, MedVTok introduces (i) slice differential regularization, which explicitly models inter-slice anatomical coherence missing in previous per-pixel/per-voxel supervision, and (ii) multi-expert representation alignment, which integrates knowledge from multiple medical expert encoders while retaining modality-specific complementary knowledge. Trained on 28M images and 70K volumes across 9 imaging modalities, MedVTok supports classification, retrieval, segmentation, synthesis, visual question answering, and medical report generation through a single tokenizer. Across 24 benchmarks, MedVTok achieves state-of-the-art performance, demonstrating a scalable token interface that unifies medical image dimension, modality, and task usage.

原文摘要

Intelligent education systems often collect exam sheets as in-the-wild photos. These photos often suffer from distortions and noise caused by handwriting and occlusions, collectively referred to as Real-World Degraded Exam Images (RDEI). Structure-preserving reconstruction is key to converting RDEI into structured assets for downstream educational applications. Existing Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) often fail under RDEI, leading to disrupted structure and evidence-unsupported hallucinations. To tackle these challenges, we propose MessToClean, a backbone-agnostic, evidence-driven pipeline that treats off-the-shelf MLLMs as interchangeable components. By grounding extraction in pixel-aligned evidence and enforcing post-hoc consistency auditing on recovered structures, MessToClean mitigates unsupported hallucinations and enhances both controllability and structural fidelity in question-level reconstruction. We curate RDEI-Exam from our educational platforms and evaluate across 12 state-of-the-art MLLM backbones. Across these, MessToClean improves stem consistency by 1.01-3.18%, figure consistency by 0.50-49.16%, and refusal F1 by 1.06-10.88% across question types.

Chain-of-Thought Compression Should Not Be Blind: V-Skip for Efficient Multimodal Reasoning via Dual-Path Anchoring

原文摘要

While Chain-of-Thought (CoT) reasoning significantly enhances the performance of Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs), its autoregressive nature incurs prohibitive latency constraints. Current efforts to mitigate this via token compression often fail by blindly applying text-centric metrics to multimodal contexts. We identify a critical failure mode termed Visual Amnesia, where linguistically redundant tokens are erroneously pruned, leading to hallucinations. To address this, we introduce V-Skip that reformulates token pruning as a Visual-Anchored Information Bottleneck (VA-IB) optimization problem. V-Skip employs a dual-path gating mechanism that weighs token importance through both linguistic surprisal and cross-modal attention flow, effectively rescuing visually salient anchors. Extensive experiments on Qwen2-VL and Llama-3.2 families demonstrate that V-Skip achieves a speedup with negligible accuracy loss. Specifically, it preserves fine-grained visual details, outperforming other baselines over 30% on the DocVQA.
