FlexTry-On: A Time-Efficient Framework for Multi-Scenario Virtual Try-on

Phuong Dam, Quyen Nguyen Duc, Son Hoang Minh, Daeyoung Kim

Virtual try-on has achieved remarkable progress in recent years, yet most existing methods are designed for a specific scenario, such as cloth-to-person or person-to-person try-on, and often require separate conditioning strategies and processing pipelines for different settings. We present FlexTry-On, a unified and time-efficient diffusion-based framework for diverse virtual try-on scenarios, including cloth-to-person, person-to-person, cross-domain, and in-the-wild settings. FlexTry-On adopts a common conditioning formulation, where a text-aware condition extraction strategy converts heterogeneous garment sources into a unified representation, and a dual-conditioning diffusion transformer jointly models garment appearance and person identity. Extensive experiments demonstrate competitive performance on both cloth-to-person and person-to-person benchmarks while maintaining fast inference. Moreover, the same framework can be directly applied to unseen cross-domain scenarios without requiring separate architectures or scenario-specific processing pipelines. These results highlight the potential of unified and efficient virtual try-on frameworks as a practical step toward more flexible and widely applicable virtual try-on systems.

Where Do Vision Language Models Fail at 3D Reasoning?

Khai Le-Duc, Nguyen Kim Hai Bui, An Ngo, Nam D. Hoang, Yueqi Song, Jiarui Liu, Thai Quoc Hoang, Fang Wu 等 14 位作者

Vision-language models can get individual judgments right while struggling to recover and consistently use the exact properties of a 3D object. To characterize this gap, we introduce BedBench, a controlled benchmark of thirteen procedurally generated tasks spanning individual judgments and composite answers. Across twelve open-weight and four frontier models, per-color counting exposes a pronounced weakness: humans achieve 93.3% accuracy, compared with 7.2% for the best model. Targeted fine-tuning raises one model's accuracy from 3.0% to 68.6%, but reveals a further difficulty: its answers about the most common colors remain inconsistent with its own per-color counts. Supplying those counts as text improves its judgments, showing that recovering a property does not mean using it consistently. Reasoning, scaling, and added visual cues each improve individual judgments, but none makes exact answers reliable. To locate the difficulty, we probe Qwen3.5-27B: exact per-color counts remain recoverable at the language model's input, yet the model's answers rarely recover them (65.0% for the probe vs. 3.0% for the model). Image-removal controls further show that some apparent successes require no visual evidence. These findings motivate evaluating 3D reasoning by exact correctness, consistent use, and image dependence, rather than accuracy alone. Code and dataset are publicly available: https://github.com/leduckhai/BedBench

Marine video understanding is crucial for a wide range of real-world applications. However, existing marine video datasets suffer from limitations, including the limited number of data samples, fine-grained text descriptions, and detailed visual attributes. To address these limitations, we introduce a large-scale, video-text dataset featuring rich, in-the-wild visual attributes tailored for complex marine environments. Our dataset comprises 2,000 video-text pairs annotated with 13 attributes covering up to four objects per scene, object visual/geometric properties, behaviors, environmental context, and camera motion, spanning diverse lighting conditions, times of day, and 7 countries. From these annotations, we generate 16,080 video-question pairs (12,080 multiple-choice, 4,000 open-ended). Furthermore, we benchmark both proprietary and open-source video-LLM models on video question answering and video captioning tasks. We find that (i) proprietary models often achieves superior performances; (ii) VLMs handle object motion well but struggle with complex camera motion; (iii) closed-source models struggle to perceive camera motion; and (iv) VLMs struggle to reason in static cameras.

What Actually Matters? A Paired Evaluation of Inference Settings for $π_{0.5}$ on BEHAVIOR-1K

Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models offer a promising paradigm for general-purpose household robotics. However, inference and data-collection strategies that have been deployed in smaller-scale settings do not necessarily generalize to large-scale, diverse task suites. To address this gap, we conduct a systematic, paired evaluation of previously proposed inference and data-collection strategies across all 100 tasks. Our evaluation uses a fine-tuned $π_{0.5}$ model based on the 2025 BEHAVIOR Challenge winner, which achieves a Q-score of 0.39 on the public test set. These results show that proposed strategies do not transfer uniformly to new environments and tasks. Project page, videos, and detailed analysis: https://rubenhammele.github.io/behavior2026

Latent Representation Learning from 3D Brain MRI for Latent Analysis and Prediction in Multiple Sclerosis

Trinh Ngoc Huynh, Nguyen Duc Kien, Nguyen Hai Anh, Dinh Tran Hiep, Manuela Vaneckova, Tomas Uher, Jeroen Van Schependom, Stijn Denissen 等 11 位作者

Neurological diseases can cause significant cognitive impairment, yet linking brain structure to cognitive function remains challenging due to the limitations of conventional methods and the black-box nature of deep learning. We propose InfoVAE-Med3D, an adaptation of InfoVAE for three-dimensional brain MRI that learns informative latent representations by relaxing the mutual information regularization penalty between inputs and latent representations. We evaluated the method on a healthy control (HC) dataset (\(n=6{,}503\)) with age and sex information and a multiple sclerosis (MS) dataset (\(n=916\)) with age, sex, and Symbol Digit Modalities Test (SDMT) scores. Two-dimensional visualizations revealed sex-related clustering and smooth transitions in grey and white matter volumes. Removing the mutual information regularization penalty generally improved MRI reconstruction and brain age and SDMT prediction using support vector regression, outperforming other variational autoencoder variants and achieving competitive performance with deep learning predictors, particularly on the MS dataset. InfoVAE-Med3D provides informative latent representations for investigating brain-related characteristics and supports latent-space analysis and imaging biomarker discovery for cognitive impairment, particularly in MS.

UltraFlash: Accelerating Megapixel Visual Synthesis

Phuc Lai, Anh Nguyen, Phong Nguyen, Anh Tran

Megapixel visual synthesis with latent diffusion models requires operating far beyond the resolutions at which these models are typically trained. Cascade refinement is a leading strategy for this setting: it starts from a base image at a native resolution and progressively upsamples it to the target resolution through multiple refinement stages. Each stage typically performs a pixel-space resolution transition followed by latent-space denoising. While prior acceleration efforts mainly focus on reducing denoising cost, we identify a complementary and underexplored bottleneck: the repeated movement of representations through the VAE. We call these operations pixel-space transitions. In cascade pipelines, intermediate latents are often decoded to RGB, resized, and re-encoded before refinement, while final latents are decoded patch by patch with dense overlap to suppress boundary artifacts. We propose UltraFlash, a transition-efficient approach that accelerates these VAE-heavy operations. UltraFlash has two components. Latent Hyperloop replaces intermediate RGB round trips with a learned latent-space shortcut that approximates the decode-resize-encode transformation without repeated VAE decoding and encoding. Sparse Patch-based Decoding accelerates final reconstruction by addressing patch seams caused by inconsistent GroupNorm statistics and reusing cached statistics across patches, enabling sparse VAE decoding with much smaller overlap. Integrated into a state-of-the-art cascade baseline, UltraFlash reduces 4K generation latency by approximately 2x while improving image quality. These results show that optimizing pixel-space transitions can improve both efficiency and fidelity, offering an effective route toward fast, high-quality megapixel visual synthesis.

Low-Resolution License Plate Recognition (LRLPR) remains a challenging problem in real-world surveillance scenarios, where long capture distances, compression artifacts, and adverse imaging conditions can severely degrade license plate legibility. To promote progress in this area, we organized the ICPR 2026 Competition on Low-Resolution License Plate Recognition, the first competition specifically dedicated to LRLPR using real low-quality data collected under operationally relevant conditions. The competition was based on the LRLPR-26 dataset, which comprises 20,000 training tracks and 3,000 test tracks; each training track contains five low-resolution and five high-resolution images of the same license plate. Notably, a total of 269 teams from 41 countries registered for the competition, and 99 teams submitted valid entries in the Blind Test Phase. The winning team achieved a Recognition Rate of 82.13%, and four teams surpassed the 80% mark, highlighting both the high level of competition at the top of the leaderboard and the continued difficulty of the task. In addition to presenting the competition design, evaluation protocol, and main results, this paper summarizes the methods adopted by the top-5 teams and discusses current trends and promising directions for future research on LRLPR. The competition webpage is available at https://icpr26lrlpr.github.io/

Efficient Image Synthesis with Sphere Latent Encoder

Tung Do, Thuan Hoang Nguyen, Hao Li

Few-step image generation has seen rapid progress, with consistency and meanflow-based methods significantly reducing the number of sampling steps. Despite their low inference cost, these approaches often suffer from training instability and limited scalability. Sphere Encoder is a recent alternative that produces high-quality images in only a few steps; however, it requires repeated transitions between the pixel space and latent space during inference while jointly optimizing reconstruction and generation within a single architecture. This design leads to computational inefficiency and objective conflict between reconstruction and generation. To address these limitations, we decouple the framework into a fixed pretrained image encoder and a separate latent denoising model trained entirely in a spherical latent space. Our approach eliminates repeated pixel-space operations during training and inference, improving efficiency and allowing reconstruction and generation to specialize independently. On Animal-Faces, Oxford-Flowers and ImageNet-1K datasets, our method significantly outperforms Sphere Encoder in both generation quality and inference speed, while achieving competitive results against strong few-step and multi-step baselines.

Beyond Vision-Language Models: Visual-Semantic Affect Graphs for Emotion Recognition in Artworks

Ngoc-Duy Mai, Ha-Thanh Nguyen, Hideaki Takeda

Emotion recognition in artworks remains challenging because affective meaning is often subjective, implicit, and shaped by relationships between visual form and semantic associations. While vision-language models provide strong multimodal representations, direct image-to-emotion prediction may overlook explicit relations among formal, semantic, and affective cues that support emotional interpretation. This paper proposes Visual-Semantic Affect Graphs (VSAG), a graph-based framework that represents artworks through interpretable feature nodes, including color, brushstroke, composition, light-shadow, line quality, and extracted visual entities. The graph learns feature-emotion associations for dominant emotion prediction, with valence-arousal structure modeled through an optional hierarchical auxiliary affect module. We evaluate VSAG and VSAG-TopK against direct VLM inference using Qwen3-VL and InternVL3.5 on EmoArt-5k. Results show that direct VLMs provide useful but modest baselines, while graph-based models improve dominant emotion prediction. In particular, the hierarchical valence-arousal variant of VSAG achieves the best overall performance, improving accuracy, macro-F1, and weighted-F1 over both direct VLM inference and the emotion-only VSAG baseline. Per-class results indicate that graph-based models and VLMs capture partly complementary signals, while valence-arousal structure is most useful when integrated as a coarse-to-fine affect hierarchy rather than as a simple post-hoc correction. These findings suggest that explicit visual-semantic structure can support both prediction and interpretation in artwork emotion recognition.

C-MambaPose: Phase-Preserving Complex Mamba for Cross-Environment Wi-Fi Human Pose Estimation

Phuc H. Nguyen, Van-Dinh Nguyen

Cross-environment generalization remains a fundamental challenge for Wi-Fi-based human pose estimation (HPE), as environmental multipath can drastically alter Channel State Information (CSI) for the same human motion. Existing approaches often discard CSI phase or collapse complex signals into real-valued features early, losing motion-sensitive phase dynamics. We present C-MambaPose, a phase-preserving complex-valued state-space framework for robust cross-environment Wi-Fi 3D HPE. Our key insight is to preserve complex phase relationships throughout spatiotemporal modeling, rather than using phase only as an input feature. C-MambaPose sanitizes synchronization-induced phase errors and employs a Spatiotemporal Complex Mamba encoder with dynamic multi-scale receptive fields to capture long-range phase-amplitude dynamics. Cross-attention then maps the learned representations to human joints, followed by a skeleton-aware GraFormer decoder for anatomically coherent pose estimation. Experiments on MM-Fi show that C-MambaPose achieves strong performance across all settings, with the largest gains in unseen environments, reaching $298.5$ mm and $317.6$ mm MPJPE on the two cross-environment protocols using only $3.78$ M parameters and no pretraining. Ablations further show that prematurely discarding complex phase relationships substantially degrades performance, demonstrating their importance for cross-environment Wi-Fi HPE.

GrAInS: Gradient-based Attribution for Inference-Time Steering of LLMs and VLMs

Duy Nguyen Department of Computer Science, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Archiki Prasad, Elias Stengel-Eskin University of Texas at Austin, Mohit Bansal University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

Inference-time steering provides a lightweight alternative to fine-tuning large language models (LLMs) and vision-language models (VLMs) by modifying model activations without updating weights. However, existing methods often rely on a global intervention vector, overlook token-level causal influence, and underutilize model logits, especially in multimodal settings where visual and textual inputs contribute unevenly. We propose GrAInS, a contrastive, gradient-based approach that leverages Integrated Gradients to identify top-k influential tokens and construct directional steering vectors based on their contribution to preferred over dispreferred outputs. These vectors guide activation intervention at each layer, preserving the representational scale. GrAInS outperforms fine-tuning and prior steering methods on both LLM and VLM tasks: improving TruthfulQA accuracy by 13.22% (Llama-3.1-8B), reducing MMHal-Bench hallucinations from 0.624 to 0.514 (LLaVA-1.6-7B), and increasing SPA-VL alignment by 8.11%, all without degrading fluency or general capabilities.

Beyond Transcripts: A Renewed Perspective on Audio Chaptering

Fabian Retkowski Karlsruher Institut für Technologie, Maike Züfle Karlsruher Institut für Technologie, Thai Binh Nguyen Karlsruher Institut für Technologie, Jan Niehues, Alexander Waibel

Audio chaptering, the task of automatically segmenting long-form audio into coherent sections, is increasingly important for navigating podcasts, lectures, and videos. Despite its relevance, research remains limited and text-based, leaving key questions unresolved about leveraging audio information, handling ASR errors, and transcript-free evaluation. We address these gaps through three contributions: (1) a systematic comparison between text-based models with acoustic features, a novel audio-only architecture (AudioSeg) operating on learned audio representations, and multimodal LLMs; (2) empirical analysis of factors affecting performance, including transcript quality, acoustic features, duration, and speaker composition; and (3) formalized evaluation protocols contrasting transcript-dependent text-space protocols with transcript-invariant time-space protocols. Our experiments on YTSeg reveal that AudioSeg substantially outperforms text-based approaches, pauses provide the largest acoustic gains, and current MLLMs struggle due to context limitations and weak instruction following.

Verifying Neural Network Robustness with Dual Perturbations

Duong, Hai, Nguyen, Lam, Le, Thanh, Nguyen, ThanhVu

Safety-critical deep learning systems must be robust against real-world corruptions combining spatially correlated distortions and independent noise.Current deep neural network verification methods handle these perturbations separately, either checking independent pixel-wise perturbations or restricted convolutional transformations using predefined patterns. This gap prevents assessing robustness under realistic conditions where both perturbation types occur simultaneously. To address these limitations, we propose VeriDou, a framework that introduces:(i) universal convolutional perturbations that enable verification across continuous spatial distortion spaces, and(ii) dual perturbations that capture both convolutional distortions and independent pixel-level variations. Our evaluation on a set of diverse benchmarks with 14340 instances shows VeriDou's dual perturbations approach found substantially more adversarial examples on networks that existing methods claimed to be highly robust. This shows that VeriDou is able to explore a broader range of unsafe regions and thus enhances formal assessment of robustness. VeriDou is available at https://github.com/dynaroars/VeriDou.

Hierarchical Concept Embedding & Pursuit for Interpretable Image Classification

Nguyen, Nghia, Ding, Tianjiao, Vidal, René

Interpretable-by-design models are gaining traction in computer vision because they provide faithful explanations for their predictions. In image classification, these models typically recover human-interpretable concepts from an image and use them for classification. Sparse concept recovery methods leverage the latent space of vision-language models to represent image embeddings as sparse combinations of concept embeddings. However, by ignoring the hierarchical structure of semantic concepts, these methods may produce correct predictions with explanations that are inconsistent with the hierarchy. In this work, we propose Hierarchical Concept Embedding & Pursuit (HCEP), a framework that induces a hierarchy of concept embeddings in the latent space and performs hierarchical sparse coding to recover the concepts present in an image. Given a hierarchy of semantic concepts, we introduce a geometric construction for the corresponding hierarchy of embeddings. Under the assumption that the true concepts form a rooted path in the hierarchy, we derive sufficient conditions for their recovery in the embedding space. We further show that hierarchical sparse coding reliably recovers hierarchical concept embeddings, whereas standard sparse coding fails. Experiments on real-world datasets show that HCEP improves concept precision and recall compared to existing methods while maintaining competitive classification accuracy. Moreover, when the number of samples available for concept estimation and classifier training is limited, HCEP achieves superior classification accuracy and concept recovery. Our results demonstrate that incorporating hierarchical structure into sparse concept recovery leads to more faithful and interpretable image classification models.

Relational Visual Similarity

Nguyen, Thao, Mo, Sicheng, Singh, Krishna Kumar, Wang, Yilin, Shi, Jing, Kolkin, Nicholas, Shechtman, Eli, Lee, Yong Jae 等 9 位作者

Humans do not just see attribute similarity -- we also see relational similarity. An apple is like a peach because both are reddish fruit, but the Earth is also like a peach: its crust, mantle, and core correspond to the peach's skin, flesh, and pit. This ability to perceive and recognize relational similarity, is arguable by cognitive scientist to be what distinguishes humans from other species. Yet, all widely used visual similarity metrics today (e.g., LPIPS, CLIP, DINO) focus solely on perceptual attribute similarity and fail to capture the rich, often surprising relational similarities that humans perceive. How can we go beyond the visible content of an image to capture its relational properties? How can we bring images with the same relational logic closer together in representation space? To answer these questions, we first formulate relational image similarity as a measurable problem: two images are relationally similar when their internal relations or functions among visual elements correspond, even if their visual attributes differ. We then curate 114k image-caption dataset in which the captions are anonymized -- describing the underlying relational logic of the scene rather than its surface content. Using this dataset, we finetune a Vision-Language model to measure the relational similarity between images. This model serves as the first step toward connecting images by their underlying relational structure rather than their visible appearance. Our study shows that while relational similarity has a lot of real-world applications, existing image similarity models fail to capture it -- revealing a critical gap in visual computing.

RI-Mamba: Rotation-Invariant Mamba for Robust Text-to-Shape Retrieval

Nguyen, Khanh, de Silva Edirimuni, Dasith, Hassan, Ghulam Mubashar, Mian, Ajmal

3D assets have rapidly expanded in quantity and diversity due to the growing popularity of virtual reality and gaming. As a result, text-to-shape retrieval has become essential in facilitating intuitive search within large repositories. However, existing methods require canonical poses and support few object categories, limiting their real-world applicability where objects can belong to diverse classes and appear in random orientations. To address this challenge, we propose RI-Mamba, the first rotation-invariant state-space model for point clouds. RI-Mamba defines global and local reference frames to disentangle pose from geometry and uses Hilbert sorting to construct token sequences with meaningful geometric structure while maintaining rotation invariance. We further introduce a novel strategy to compute orientational embeddings and reintegrate them via feature-wise linear modulation, effectively recovering spatial context and enhancing model expressiveness. Our strategy is inherently compatible with state-space models and operates in linear time. To scale up retrieval, we adopt cross-modal contrastive learning with automated triplet generation, allowing training on diverse datasets without manual annotation. Extensive experiments demonstrate RI-Mamba's superior representational capacity and robustness, achieving state-of-the-art performance on the OmniObject3D benchmark across more than 200 object categories under arbitrary orientations. The project page is available at ndkhanh360.github.io/project-rimamba.

Computation and Communication Efficient Federated Unlearning via On-server Gradient Conflict Mitigation and Expression

Nguyen, Minh-Duong, Wanasekara, Senura, Nguyen, Le-Tuan, Pham, Quoc-Viet, Yong, Ken-Tye, Tran, Nguyen H., Le, Dung D.

Federated Unlearning (FUL) aims to remove specific participants' data contributions from a trained Federated Learning model, thereby ensuring data privacy and compliance with regulatory requirements. Despite its potential, progress in FUL has been limited due to several challenges, including the cross-client knowledge inaccessibility and high computational and communication costs. To overcome these challenges, we propose Federated On-server Unlearning (FOUL), a novel framework that comprises two key stages. The learning-to-unlearn stage serves as a preparatory learning phase, during which the model identifies and encodes the key features associated with the forget clients. This stage is communication-efficient and establishes the basis for the subsequent unlearning process. Subsequently, on-server knowledge aggregation phase aims to perform the unlearning process at the server without requiring access to client data, thereby preserving both efficiency and privacy. We introduce a new data setting for FUL, which enables a more transparent and rigorous evaluation of unlearning. To highlight the effectiveness of our approach, we propose a novel evaluation metric termed time-to-forget, which measures how quickly the model achieves optimal unlearning performance. Extensive experiments conducted on three datasets under various unlearning scenarios demonstrate that FOUL outperforms the Retraining in FUL. Moreover, FOUL achieves competitive or superior results with significantly reduced time-to-forget, while maintaining low communication and computation costs.

PyraTok: Language-Aligned Pyramidal Tokenizer for Video Understanding and Generation

Susladkar, Onkar, Prakash, Tushar, Juvekar, Adheesh, Nguyen, Kiet A., Jang, Dong-Hwan, Dhillon, Inderjit S, Lourentzou, Ismini

Discrete video VAEs underpin modern text-to-video generation and video understanding systems, yet existing tokenizers typically learn visual codebooks at a single scale with limited vocabularies and shallow language supervision, leading to poor cross-modal alignment and zero-shot transfer. We introduce PyraTok, a language-aligned pyramidal tokenizer that learns semantically structured discrete latents across multiple spatial-temporal resolutions. PyraTok builds on a pretrained video VAE and a novel Language aligned Pyramidal Quantization (LaPQ) module that discretizes encoder features at several depths using a shared large binary codebook, yielding compact yet expressive video token sequences. To tightly couple visual tokens with language, PyraTok jointly optimizes multi-scale text-guided quantization and a global autoregressive objective over the token hierarchy. Across ten benchmarks, PyraTok delivers state-of-the-art (SOTA) video reconstruction, consistently improves text-to-video quality, and sets new SOTA zero-shot performance on video instance segmentation, temporal action localization, and video understanding, scaling robustly to up to 4K/8K resolutions.

Post-training Feature Pruning for Fundus Images Classification

Pham, Van-Nguyen, Le, Duc-Tai, Bum, Junghyun, Choo, Hyunseung

Deep neural networks have achieved strong performance in fundus image classification, yet their flattened feature representations are often highly redundant. Such redundancy can lead to poor generalization across imaging devices, reduced interpretability, and inefficient use of model capacity. To address this issue, this study proposes a post-training feature pruning framework, termed greedy feature pruning (GFP) , which removes weak or redundant dimensions from the flattened features of trained backbones. GFP employs a greedy build-up process guided by performance metrics on the training set, constrained by a minimum feature keeping ratio, to identify compact yet discriminative subsets of features. Experiments are conducted on five public fundus datasets covering multiple tasks, including diabetic retinopathy detection (DDR, Messidor-2), glaucoma detection (PAPILA), multi-label classification (ODIR) and multi-class retinal disease classification (RETINA), using EfficientNetV2, ViT, and CoAtNet as backbones. Results show that GFP consistently improves AUROC and AUPRC across datasets while reducing the number of flattened features by up to 96%. Feature visualizations and quantitative analyses confirm that GFP enhances the compactness and separability of latent features. Moreover, cross-dataset evaluation demonstrates that GFP improves transferability between datasets, indicating better domain robustness. Overall, the proposed GFP framework provides a simple yet effective approach for compressing feature representations and improving both discriminability and generalization in fundus image classification.

OpenVO: Open-World Visual Odometry with Temporal Dynamics Awareness

We introduce OpenVO, a novel framework for Open-world Visual Odometry (VO) with temporal awareness under limited input conditions. OpenVO effectively estimates real-world-scale ego-motion from monocular dashcam footage with varying observation rates and uncalibrated cameras, enabling robust trajectory dataset construction from rare driving events recorded in dashcam.Existing VO methods are trained on fixed observation frequency (e.g., 10Hz or 12Hz), completely overlooking temporal dynamics information. Many prior methods also require calibrated cameras with known intrinsic parameters. Consequently, their performance degrades when (1) deployed under unseen observation frequencies or (2) applied to uncalibrated cameras. These significantly limit their generalizability to many downstream tasks, such as extracting trajectories from dashcam footage. To address these challenges, OpenVO (1) explicitly encodes temporal dynamics information within a two-frame pose regression framework and (2) leverages 3D geometric priors derived from foundation models. We validate our method on three major autonomous-driving benchmarks - KITTI, nuScenes, and Argoverse 2 - achieving more than 20% performance improvement over state-of-the-art approaches. Under varying observation rate settings, our method is significantly more robust, achieving 46%-92% lower errors across all metrics. These results demonstrate the versatility of OpenVO for real-world 3D reconstruction and diverse downstream applications.

Toward Generalizable Whole Brain Representations with High-Resolution Light-Sheet Data

Kim, Minyoung E., Yun, Dae Hee, Patel, Aditi V., Hon, Madeline, Guan, Webster, Lee, Taegeon, Nguyen, Brian

Unprecedented visual details of biological structures are being revealed by subcellular-resolution whole-brain 3D microscopy data, enabled by recent advances in intact tissue processing and light-sheet fluorescence microscopy (LSFM). These volumetric data offer rich morphological and spatial cellular information, however, the lack of scalable data processing and analysis methods tailored to these petabyte-scale data poses a substantial challenge for accurate interpretation. Further, existing models for visual tasks such as object detection and classification struggle to generalize to this type of data. To accelerate the development of suitable methods and foundational models, we present CANVAS, a comprehensive set of high-resolution whole mouse brain LSFM benchmark data, encompassing six neuronal and immune cell-type markers, along with cell annotations and a leaderboard. We also demonstrate challenges in generalization of baseline models built on existing architectures, especially due to the heterogeneity in cellular morphology across phenotypes and anatomical locations in the brain. To the best of our knowledge, CANVAS is the first and largest LSFM benchmark that captures intact mouse brain tissue at subcellular level, and includes extensive annotations of cells throughout the brain.

SemLT3D: Semantic-Guided Expert Distillation for Camera-only Long-Tailed 3D Object Detection

Vo, Hao, Vo, Khoa, Phan, Thinh, Cuong, Ngo Xuan, Doretto, Gianfranco, Nguyen, Hien, Nguyen, Anh, Le, Ngan

Camera-only 3D object detection has emerged as a cost-effective and scalable alternative to LiDAR for autonomous driving, yet existing methods primarily prioritize overall performance while overlooking the severe long-tail imbalance inherent in real-world datasets. In practice, many rare but safety-critical categories such as children, strollers, or emergency vehicles are heavily underrepresented, leading to biased learning and degraded performance. This challenge is further exacerbated by pronounced inter-class ambiguity (e.g., visually similar subclasses) and substantial intra-class diversity (e.g., objects varying widely in appearance, scale, pose, or context), which together hinder reliable long-tail recognition. In this work, we introduce SemLT3D, a Semantic-Guided Expert Distillation framework designed to enrich the representation space for underrepresented classes through semantic priors. SemLT3D consists of: (1) a language-guided mixture-of-experts module that routes 3D queries to specialized experts according to their semantic affinity, enabling the model to better disentangle confusing classes and specialize on tail distributions; and (2) a semantic projection distillation pipeline that aligns 3D queries with CLIP-informed 2D semantics, producing more coherent and discriminative features across diverse visual manifestations. Although motivated by long-tail imbalance, the semantically structured learning in SemLT3D also improves robustness under broader appearance variations and challenging corner cases, offering a principled step toward more reliable camera-only 3D perception.

Ar2Can: An Architect and an Artist Leveraging a Canvas for Multi-Human Generation

Borse, Shubhankar, Pham, Phuc, Farhadzadeh, Farzad, Choi, Seokeon, Nguyen, Phong, Tran, Anh, Yun, Sungrack, Hayat, Munawar 等 9 位作者

Despite recent advances in personalized image generation, existing models consistently fail to produce reliable multi-human scenes, often merging or losing facial identity. We present Ar2Can, a novel two-stage framework that disentangles spatial planning from identity rendering for multi-human generation. The Architect predicts structured layouts, specifying where each person should appear. The Artist then synthesizes photorealistic images, guided by a spatially-grounded face matching reward that combines Hungarian spatial alignment with identity similarity. This approach ensures faces are rendered at correct locations and faithfully preserve reference identities. We develop two Architect variants, seamlessly integrated with our diffusion-based Artist model. This is optimized via Group Relative Policy Optimization (GRPO) using compositional rewards for count accuracy, image quality, and identity matching. Evaluated on the MultiHuman-Testbench, Ar2Can achieves substantial improvements in both count accuracy and identity preservation, while maintaining high perceptual quality. Notably, our method achieves these results using primarily synthetic data, without requiring real multi-human images. Project page: https://qualcomm-ai-research.github.io/ar2can/

Concept-Aware Batch Sampling Improves Language-Image Pretraining

Ghosh, Adhiraj, Udandarao, Vishaal, Nguyen, Thao, Farina, Matteo, Cherti, Mehdi, Jitsev, Jenia, Oh, Sewoong, Ricci, Elisa 等 10 位作者

What data should a vision-language model be trained on? To answer this question, many data curation efforts center on the quality of a dataset. However, most of these existing methods are (i) offline, i.e. they produce a static dataset from a set of predetermined filtering criteria, and (ii) concept-agnostic, i.e. they use model-based filters which induce additional dataset bias. In this work, we go beyond such offline, concept-agnostic methods and advocate for more flexible, task-adaptive online concept-based curation. Our first contribution is DataConcept, a collection of 128M web-crawled image-text pairs annotated with fine-grained details about their concept composition. Building on DataConcept, we introduce CABS (Concept-Aware Batch Sampling), a simple yet effective batch-sampling framework that flexibly constructs batches on-the-fly based on specific target distributions. We propose two variants: (i) Diversity Maximization, to curate batches with the broadest coverage of available concepts, and (ii) CABS-FM (Frequency Maximization), to curate batches with maximal object multiplicity. Through extensive evaluations with four visual backbones and a suite of 28 benchmarks, we demonstrate that CABS significantly benefits Language-Image Pretraining (LIP) and yields highly performant models on long-tailed evaluations. Overall, CABS represents a strong open-source alternative to proprietary online curation algorithms, enabling practitioners to define custom concept distributions that optimize for specific downstream tasks. Both DataConcept and the source code for CABS will be made public.

PixelRush: Ultra-Fast, Training-Free High-Resolution Image Generation via One-step Diffusion

Lai, Hong-Phuc, Nguyen, Phong, Tran, Anh

Pre-trained diffusion models excel at generating high-quality images but remain inherently limited by their native training resolution. Recent training-free approaches have attempted to overcome this constraint by introducing interventions during the denoising process; however, these methods incur substantial computational overhead, often requiring more than five minutes to produce a single 4K image. In this paper, we present PixelRush, the first tuning-free framework for practical high-resolution text-to-image generation. Our method builds upon the established patch-based inference paradigm but eliminates the need for multiple inversion and regeneration cycles. Instead, PixelRush enables efficient patch-based denoising within a low-step regime. To address artifacts introduced by patch blending in few-step generation, we propose a seamless blending strategy. Furthermore, we mitigate over-smoothing effects through a noise injection mechanism. PixelRush delivers exceptional efficiency, generating 4K images in approximately 20 seconds representing a 10xto 35xspeedup over state-of-the-art methods while maintaining superior visual fidelity. Extensive experiments validate both the performance gains and the quality of outputs achieved by our approach.
