AI agents are playing an increasingly important role in physics research. However, existing physics benchmarks only evaluate fixed questions, isolated sub-tasks, or paper reproduction with given solutions, and rarely check research quality alongside correctness. We introduce FrontierPhysics, an end-to-end benchmark with 56 tasks made by 42 physicists based on their own research, covering nine domains across theoretical, computational, and experimental physics. Each task requires agents to review the literature, develop a research plan, conduct research and experiments, and produce structured outputs and scientific manuscripts. Combining deterministic verifiers with expert-authored rubrics, FrontierPhysics evaluates whether agents' research is correct and publishable. Across 22 models in 26 configurations, no configuration passes more than 46 of its 168 rollouts. Manual review of agent trajectories shows that frontier agents' main weaknesses are insufficiently rigorous reasoning and limited expert intuition, rather than gaps in physics knowledge or execution errors.

可证明安全且可扩展的强化学习

Provably Safe, Yet Scalable Reinforcement Learning

Kai S. Yun, Zeyang Li, Navid Azizan

AI 速览:提出两阶段框架 PS2-RL,用学习到的备份策略在线隐式构造控制不变集,从而在保持可证明安全性的同时提升可扩展性。

Safe reinforcement learning (RL) aims to learn policies that optimize rewards while satisfying constraints. Predominant approaches rely on soft-constrained policy optimization, which has achieved empirical success but does not provide formal safety guarantees for the learned policy. In contrast, methods with strict guarantees typically rely on explicit certificate functions, whose construction requires the direct synthesis and verification of control-invariant sets, a process that scales poorly with state dimension and often yields overly conservative behavior. In this paper, we present the Provably Safe, yet Scalable RL (PS2-RL) framework, a novel two-phase architecture for learning provably safe policies in a scalable manner, designed to overcome the key bottlenecks of prior methods. Rather than explicitly computing invariant sets, PS2-RL leverages a learned backup policy to forward-integrate the system dynamics, generating an implicit control-invariant set online. In the first phase, the backup policy is trained with the safe-arrival value function to achieve rapid, safe recovery to the certified base set for invariant-set construction. In the second phase, an RL policy is trained end-to-end through a differentiable projection layer that strictly enforces the safety guarantees induced by the learned backup policy. By maximizing the volume of the implicit control-invariant set in the first phase, the resulting PS2 policy from the second phase is performant and scalable, while maintaining provable safety. Crucially, PS2-RL imposes no restrictions on the underlying RL algorithm and can be plugged into any existing training pipeline. We establish theoretical guarantees for the proposed framework and evaluate it on robotic control tasks with state dimensions up to 10, a regime in which prior provably safe RL methods struggle or become impractical.

Rethinking the UI of GenUI: A Tale of Two Designs

Xiang 'Anthony' Chen, Savvas Dimitrios Petridis, Ruofei Du, Yang Li

Generative user interface (GenUI) tools use large models to create UI mockups from high-level descriptions; a recurring interaction paradigm starts with an unstructured prompt, followed by depth-first generation of a polished, high-fidelity prototype. To examine how it supports early-stage, 0-to-1 design exploration, we contrast this paradigm with structured input, breadth-first workflow, and low-fidelity generation. In our study, 24 industry professionals in early-stage product and UX design used a commercial GenUI system and our research prototype as study-era instances of each paradigm for a comparative evaluation. Findings show that 1) structured input surfaces key facets but raises entry barriers; 2) breadth-first workflow reveals more possibilities, but previewing multi-screen UX ideas remains hard; and 3) despite low fidelity's value, participants rated high fidelity as better suited to their design stage and to communicating ideas. Our findings contribute a model-agnostic, design-level account of how GenUI users specify intent, traverse alternatives, and interpret fidelity.

Semantic Residual Vector Quantization for Sign Language Generation

Chang Liu, Ke Han, Niccolò Biondi, Gloria Isotton, Elisa Ricci, Davide Talon, Nicu Sebe

Sign language generation (SLG) maps written sentences into signing motion while preserving both lexical content and fine-grained articulation. This requires a model to decide what signs should be expressed and to realize them through precise handshape, trajectory, facial expression and body coordination. Existing pose-based systems and reconstruction-only motion tokenizers often entangle these two decisions, leaving the generator without an explicit text-aligned intermediate target for what to sign before refining how to sign it. To address this issue, we introduce Semantic Residual Vector Quantization (SRVQ), a framework for SLG that frames generation as a two-level process moving from semantics to kinematics. The newly introduced SRV Quantizer learns a hierarchy in which the first residual level encodes sign content and subsequent levels refine pose, handshape, trajectory, and body coordination, all within a single quantizer and without separate semantic representations or external planning stages. Through word-aware conditioning for hierarchical code generation, a masked semantic generator predicts semantic codes and a kinematic generator completes the residual codes for full SMPL-X motion synthesis. We evaluate using retrieval and FID in a shared text-motion embedding space, alongside standard geometric metrics. On CSL-Daily and Phoenix-2014T, SRVQ achieves R@1 of 82.3 and 70.3, outperforming the previous SOTA by 30 and 46 points, respectively.

WISE: An Agentic Framework for Whole-page Multimodal Search Experience Attribution

Wenyi Xu, Renzhe Zhou, Songyang Li, Feiran Zhu, Ruoqi Zhao, Chenglei Dai, Xuanping Li, Kaiqiao Zhan 等 9 位作者

Algorithm-driven services, including search, recommendation, and advertising, rely on multi-stage model pipelines. While research prioritizes model optimization, post-deployment monitoring focuses on operational reliability. Yet operationally healthy systems may still produce poor-quality results, exposing a gap in existing evaluation and monitoring practices. However, a systematic problem formulation and benchmark for this task remain lacking. To bridge this gap, we formulate System Quality Diagnosis (SQD) for algorithm-driven services, a new task that extends quality evaluation beyond identifying poor outcomes to attributing their causes across system components. Focusing on industrial search, we propose WISE, an agentic framework for end-to-end quality diagnosis that discovers user-facing issues and traces their origins to underlying algorithmic components. To improve diagnostic reliability, we introduce ReTrace for constructing evidence-consistent trajectory supervision and Adaptive Harness-Policy Optimization (AHPO) for failure-guided optimization of the agent harness and model policy. To enable systematic evaluation, we construct WISE-BENCH, a real-world multimodal search benchmark that combines user-facing evidence, internal pipeline traces, and expert diagnosis annotations. Extensive experiments show consistent gains across model scales, with WISE achieving 75.20% end-to-end accuracy on Qwen3.5-35B-A3B. In production, WISE supports quality auditing, online quality assurance, and model optimization, reducing diagnosis costs and improving downstream relevance models.

TailSteer: Trajectory-Tail Steering for Drift-Resistant Multi-turn Image Editing

Ruikang Li, Zixuan Chen, Jiarui Wu, Mingde Yao, Yiyuan Zhang, Yujin Wang, Hanming Deng, Lewei Lu 等 9 位作者

Strong single-turn editing performance does not guarantee reliable multi-turn interaction: as edited outputs are repeatedly reused, small unintended changes can accumulate into severe visual drift. This long-term drift is often mitigated through training on multi-turn data or cross-turn rollouts, potentially altering pretrained priors, or through specialized inference-time mechanisms that are difficult to scale to foundation models. We introduce TailSteer, a final-stage training framework that improves multi-turn robustness while retaining the generative and editing capabilities acquired through earlier training. TailSteer follows a simple principle: keep early denoising dynamics close to those of the base model and concentrate preservation corrections near the trajectory tail, where fine-grained deviations can be suppressed. These corrections are learned from the editor's own on-policy denoising rollouts, using unchanged source content as a preservation reference without requiring curated ground-truth editing pairs. Experiments across the FLUX, SenseNova, and Qwen families show that TailSteer substantially reduces cumulative drift over 15-20 editing turns while largely preserving base-model performance on extensive text-to-image and single-image editing benchmarks. These results demonstrate that long-horizon editing robustness can be unlocked in foundation models after TailSteer, rather than by relearning their existing capabilities.

Denoise First, Orthogonalize Later: Understanding Momentum in Muon via Spectral Filtering

Xianliang Li, Zihan Zhang, Weiyang Liu, Han Bao

Muon has recently demonstrated strong empirical performance in large language model training, but the theoretical role of momentum in Muon remains unclear. Existing analyses of Muon either remove momentum to study spectral updates in isolation, or retain momentum without explaining why it improves empirical performance. Our work bridges this gap by showing momentum in Muon acts as a spectral filter. Under a structured signal-plus-perturbation gradient model, we prove that momentum suppresses perturbations while preserving the dominant signal, thereby enlarging the spectral gap between them. This enlarged gap stabilizes the singular subspaces of the matrix passed to Muon's orthogonalization step, making the resulting update more reliable. We further show that applying momentum before orthogonalization achieves provably stronger alignment with the signal component of the gradient than either reversing this order or simply removing momentum. Experiments across diverse tasks, including LLM pretraining, support our theoretical analysis. More broadly, our theory offers a starting point for understanding the benefits of momentum in other matrix-based optimizers.

Understanding Reasoning from Pretraining to Post-Training

Jingyan Shen, Ang Li, Salman Rahman, Yifan Sun, Micah Goldblum, Matus Telgarsky, Pavel Izmailov

Reinforcement learning (RL) has become central to improving large language models (LLMs) on complex reasoning tasks, yet RL post-training is largely studied in isolation from the pretraining that precedes it. As a result, two basic questions remain open: (1) how do pretraining choices (model size, data) shape the returns to RL compute, and (2) what does RL actually do to the model? These questions are difficult to study in the standard LLM setting: pretraining corpora are vast and uncontrolled, making it hard to attribute behaviors to pretraining versus RL, and systematic compute sweeps across both stages are prohibitively expensive. To address these challenges, we use chess as a controlled testbed for studying reasoning across the full pretraining-to-post-training pipeline. We follow the standard LLM training pipeline by pretraining language models from 5M to 1B parameters on human chess games, supervised fine-tuning on synthetic reasoning traces, and running RL on chess puzzles with verifiable rewards. Using this framework, we find that the post-RL performance at given RL compute level is well-predicted from the pretraining loss, and slope of the RL reward curves improves approximately linearly with the pretraining tokens. Beyond scaling, we find that RL does not simply sharpen the SFT policy: on easy puzzles it amplifies correct moves the SFT policy already preferred, while on hard puzzles it surfaces correct moves that were nearly absent under SFT. We further test whether our findings transfer beyond chess by training a 1B language model on math-domain text, where the same predictive pattern emerges: longer-pretrained checkpoints reach higher post-RL performance and improve faster under RL. In sum, we provide a quantitative account of the pretraining-to-RL interface and a controlled testbed for studying the science of reasoning across the full pretraining-to-post-training pipeline.

Interactive World Simulation with Cosmos for Physical AI

NVIDIA, :, Anis Ahmad, Jon Allen, Malik Aqeel Anwar, Jesse Archer, Maciej Bala, Piotr Barejko 等 90 位作者

We present a shared framework that adapts Cosmos world foundation models for real-time interactive world simulation in Physical AI. By streaming visual observations in response to actions and scene controls, the framework enables users and embodied agents to interact with evolving virtual environments. It supports both predicting the visual consequences of actions and generating observations from physical state maintained by an external simulator. We demonstrate this approach across camera navigation and robot manipulation, controllable video transfer, and multi-view autonomous vehicle (AV) simulation. These examples provide a shared foundation for developing interactive virtual environments for Physical AI training and evaluation. Gnomon4D: Learning Where and When to Focus for Geometric Motion-Grounded World-Action Modeling

Lingwei Dang, Yan Zhou, Juntong Li, Zhenhao Zhang, Yiteng Chen, Xiaoqiang Liu, Liang An, Hongwen Zhang 等 13 位作者

World-action models (WAMs) predict scene changes to guide robot actions, yet their RGB futures entangle state changes with appearance and lack 3D geometry. Recent WAMs add geometry as a training signal or a control interface, or build native 3D models, but decide what geometry to model rather than how the action should read it. Intuitively, control-relevant cues lie at embodiment--object interactions and their transitions, yet probing existing WAMs reveals that their action attention underweights these interactions in favor of the rest of the embodiment. To focus the action on these interactions, we present Gnomon4D, a WAM that jointly generates future video, robot actions, and GeoDelta, a video-aligned 4D geometric motion field recording the image-plane displacement and depth change of embodiment and object points. With the embodiment and objects in one field, their relative motion, which marks an interaction, can be read off. Guided by this motion and the task, Interaction-Salient Attention (InSAttn) selects where the action reads, and Transition-Anchored Aggregation (TransAgg) selects when, around grasp and release. As GeoDelta encodes surface motion rather than embodiment-specific controls, it serves as a human--robot quasi-action that links action-free pretraining on EgoManip-5000H, which we curate, to robot mid-training on Robot-30H. Gnomon4D leads on RoboTwin~2.0, VLABench, and RoboDojo, and outperforms real-robot baselines, especially under visual shifts. Project page: https://droliven.github.io/Gnomon4D.

MusTBench: Benchmarking and Advancing Temporal Grounding in Music LLMs

Daeyong Kwon, Qiyu Wu, Shinobu Kuriya, Junghyun Koo, Shuyang Cui, Zhi Zhong, Wei-Hsiang Liao, Hiromi Wakaki 等 9 位作者

Recent Large Audio-Language Models (LALMs) have demonstrated promising abilities in understanding musical content. However, whether their responses are grounded in the correct temporal regions of the audio remains underexplored. This limitation is particularly critical for music understanding, where key information often occurs as temporally localized events, such as instrument entries and rhythmic transitions. To address this gap, we introduce MusTBench, a reliable benchmark with stem-wise data and music-expert validation designed to evaluate temporal grounding in LALMs through five temporally grounded question-answering tasks. To further improve temporal grounding in existing models, we propose MusT, a novel four-stage temporal optimization recipe spanning music encoder adaptation, LLM adaptation, LLM supervised fine-tuning, and RL-based optimization. Experiments on MusTBench show that existing LALMs face challenges in precise temporal grounding, while MusT consistently improves performance across different LALM backbones and scales. These results highlight temporal grounding as an important challenge in current LALMs and provide a benchmark and training recipe that may support future research on temporally grounded music understanding.

What Does Multi-Turn Reinforcement Learning Really Improve in LLM Agents?

Kejian Zhu, Zhuoran Jin, Shangqing Tu, Tianyi Men, Yupu Hao, Jiachun Li, Kang Liu, Jun Zhao

While multi-turn agentic reinforcement learning (RL) excels on long-horizon tasks, its performance gains remain highly sensitive to interaction constraints. Evaluating across sampling breadth $K$ and interaction depth $T$ via $Pass@(K,T)$, we show that trajectory-level RL advantages depend on sufficient turn budgets, diminishing significantly when budgets tighten. Besides, agentic RL does not uniformly elevate single-step decision quality; rather, its strength concentrates in error recovery and long-horizon resilience. To mitigate the deployment risks caused by this budget dependence, we provide a preliminary discussion on the benefits and limitations of process supervision signals and introduce BudgetMix RL as an alternative that varies interaction budgets during training. Experiments demonstrate that BudgetMix RL achieves robust performance across diverse execution settings. Project Page: https://rethinking-agentic-rl.github.io/

Orthogonal Model Merging

Sihan Yang, Kexuan Shi, Weiyang Liu

Merging finetuned Large Language Models (LLMs) has become increasingly important for integrating diverse capabilities into a single unified model. However, prevailing model merging methods rely on linear arithmetic in Euclidean space, which often destroys the intrinsic geometric properties of pretrained weights, such as hyperspherical energy. To address this, we propose Orthogonal Model Merging (OrthoMerge), a method that performs merging operations on the Riemannian manifold formed by the orthogonal group to preserve the geometric structure of the model's weights. By mapping task-specific orthogonal matrices learned by Orthogonal Finetuning (OFT) to the Lie algebra, OrthoMerge enables a principled yet efficient integration that takes into account both the direction and intensity of adaptations. In addition to directly leveraging orthogonal matrices obtained by OFT, we further extend this approach to general models finetuned with non-OFT methods (i.e., low-rank finetuning, full finetuning) via an Orthogonal-Residual Decoupling strategy. This technique extracts the orthogonal components of expert models by solving the orthogonal Procrustes problem, which are then merged on the manifold of the orthogonal group, while the remaining linear residuals are processed through standard additive merging. Extensive empirical results demonstrate the effectiveness of OrthoMerge in mitigating catastrophic forgetting and maintaining model performance across diverse tasks.

Robocasa-Mem: Benchmarking Environment and Process Memory in Long-Horizon Mobile Manipulation

Sihang Chen, Chen Ye, Wei Chen, Xiaohan Lei, Zhipeng Tang, Sha Zhang, Yuan Zhang, Zixuan Chen 等 11 位作者

In the real world, mobile manipulation robots must perform complex object interactions and make multi-step decisions, often relying on task-relevant information that is no longer observable. However, existing benchmarks provide limited evaluation of such memory-dependent decision-making in mobile manipulation. To address this gap, we introduce RoboCasa-Mem, a new benchmark comprising nine mobile manipulation tasks that require agents to use interaction history at key decision points. Specifically, the tasks are grouped into two categories of memory: One is environment memory, which captures spatial locations, object attributes, and object relationships. The other is process memory, which captures single-task progress and multi-task scheduling. Particularly, we introduce Behavior-Conditioned Evaluation. For tasks with multiple valid execution paths, instead of fixing a single target or trajectory, the evaluator derives later task constraints from the robot's earlier actions. This allows us to evaluate whether later behavior is consistent with the robot's own interaction history while reducing shortcuts based on fixed target assignments. We provide 1,800 successful demonstrations for policy training. We also develop a baseline on our benchmark, namely Hierarchical Memory-Augmented Policy(HMAP). Its high-level planner uses structured entity and process memories to generate subtasks. Its low-level VLA controller uses subgoal-conditioned queries to incorporate VGGT-Omega geometry into action generation. Together, RoboCasa-Mem and HMAP baseline support systematic evaluation of memory-dependent behavior and the development of memory-aware mobile manipulation policies.

Generative Learning on Dynamic Text-Attributed Graphs

Zhenyu Yang, Yuhong Chen, Binli Luo, Xiaodong Li, Xiaolin Hu, Hui Li, Jintang Li

Dynamic text-attributed graphs capture evolving interactions among entities with rich textual information, but future-link prediction remains difficult when nodes have little interaction history or appear as new targets. We propose \method, a generative framework that represents nodes with compact semantic identifiers (SIDs) learned from text and autoregressively predicts a target SID conditioned on the source SID, recent interaction events, and relative time gaps. A lightweight structural calibration further incorporates repetition, co-occurrence, and popularity. At inference time, \method encodes each query context once and reuses SID likelihoods to rank prescribed candidates, providing a candidate-efficient prediction interface. Experiments on nine datasets show broadly competitive performance across domains and graph densities. Source-side inductive evaluations demonstrate that text-derived SIDs provide a useful representation when a test source has no observed interaction history, while two recommendation-oriented case studies evaluate controlled new-user adaptation and first-arrival ranking for inductive new items. Further analyses characterize SID uniqueness, capacity, and temporal stability. Overall, the results support combining text-derived SIDs with temporal histories for dynamic link prediction.

SUMONE: A Simple and Efficient Summarizer for Plug-and-Play Agent Memory

Jizhe Zhang, Ang Li, Chenheng Zhang, Yisen Wang

Long-horizon language-model agents accumulate increasingly large interaction histories, making context compaction essential for efficient execution. Existing learned compaction methods often rely on downstream task outcomes or solver behavior, coupling training to specific tasks or agents. We introduce SumOne, a standalone summarizer trained to preserve information in agent histories through masked reconstruction. Given a summary of the expired history, a frozen reconstructor recovers randomly masked portions of the original trajectory; reconstruction quality, combined with a length penalty, provides a task-agnostic reward for optimizing the summarizer with GRPO. This yields self-supervision directly from raw trajectories, without reference summaries or downstream task execution. At inference time, only the lightweight summarizer is retained, enabling plug-and-play context compression for otherwise unchanged agents. We conduct a systematic evaluation of SumOne in long-horizon search and software-engineering tasks. SumOne reduces estimated inference cost by approximately 78\% on DeepSearchQA and 75\% on SWE-bench Verified relative to operating with full context, with absolute decreases of 0.04. The same checkpoint also transfers across downstream models and agent harnesses without additional fine-tuning.

MMUSV-Sim: A Maritime Simulation Platform for Multi-USV Cooperative Perception

Ziao Li, Jianxiong Ye, Biao Tang, Leping Zhang, Kun Zuo, Siyu Huang, Mengtang Li, Deyu Meng 等 9 位作者

Perception from a single unmanned surface vehicle (USV) is limited by sensing range, field of view, and occlusions caused by islands, port infrastructure, and nearby vessels. Multi-USV cooperative perception can alleviate these limitations by integrating complementary observations from distributed viewpoints. However, progress is constrained by the high cost of coordinated sea trials, the scarcity of multi-USV datasets, and the lack of integrated maritime simulation and evaluation tools. We present MMUSV-Sim, a perception-oriented maritime simulation and data-generation platform built on Unreal Engine 5 and Project AirSim. It supports configurable maritime scenarios, synchronized multimodal acquisition across multiple USVs, and consistent 3D annotations in a shared world frame. Using MMUSV-Sim, we construct MarU2U-200m, a synchronized multi-USV RGB--LiDAR dataset with 341 sequences and 14,385 scene frames. We establish a cooperative bird's-eye-view (BEV) vessel detection benchmark with LiDAR and RGB--LiDAR inputs. Experimental results show that Early Fusion improves LiDAR detection AP@0.5 from 64.26 to 81.46 compared with the single-USV baseline. RGB features further improve intermediate fusion, increasing AP@0.5 by up to 4.55 percentage points. LiDAR and RGB transfer experiments also show the value of the generated data as a pretraining source for real maritime detection. The project are available at https://github.com/lizaowo/MMUSV-Sim

Keeping Fuzzers on Duty: Repairing Fuzzing Build Breakages in Continuous Open-Source Fuzzing

Zhuang Zhao, Jiongchi Yu, Yao Zhang, Dongge Liu, Qiang Hu, Xiaohong Li, Yang Liu

Continuous fuzzing platforms such as OSS-Fuzz provide sustained security testing for open-source projects, but long-term build breakages reduce security coverage and waste infrastructure resources. In OSS-Fuzz, around 20% of integrated projects remain in build-failure states, leaving their fuzzers off duty. These failures expose a maintenance gap between platform maintainers, who lack project-specific context, and project maintainers, who often lack fuzzing and infrastructure expertise. Existing program-repair techniques cannot be directly applied because fuzz build breakages span evolving project and infrastructure artifacts and require repeated infrastructure-aware diagnosis. We present FuzzMedic, an automated agent for fuzz build repair. FuzzMedic performs evidence-guided diagnosis across project and fuzzing-infrastructure artifacts. It explores repairs over a repair-state graph (RSG) that records the evolving workspace and build feedback. Branching and rollback enable FuzzMedic to recover from unproductive repair paths during long-horizon debugging. Candidate patches are validated to restore executable fuzz targets rather than merely suppress build failures. We evaluate FuzzMedic on 128 reproducible OSS-Fuzz build failures extracted from 1,820 real-world failures. FuzzMedic achieves a 48.44% repair rate and outperforms three representative program-repair baselines. In real-world use, it produces 29 patches merged into upstream or OSS-Fuzz main branches, including repairs for three failures that had remained unresolved for more than one year and two cases that had never built successfully.

EvoCodeAgent: Project-Level Code Generation via Architecture-Code Co-Evolution and Experience-Guided Repair

Qianhui Zhao, Li Zhang, Fang Liu

Project-level code generation aims to automatically synthesize complete software repositories from high-level requirements, producing coherent multi-file systems with well-structured modules and consistent cross-file dependencies. Despite the strong capabilities of large language models (LLMs) in specification understanding and code synthesis, existing approaches still exhibit several critical limitations. First, many methods rely on static architectural designs that cannot adapt during iterative generation, leading to a growing misalignment between architecture and implementation. Second, they lack mechanisms to accumulate and reuse experience across iterations, resulting in recurring errors and reduced efficiency. Third, they often depend on standalone LLM-based evaluation of intermediate artifacts, which suffer from limited transparency and potential unreliability under long-context reasoning. To address these challenges, we propose EvoCodeAgent, a state-centric framework for project-level code generation. EvoCodeAgent maintains an evolving architectural state initialized from structured project specifications and continuously reconciles predicted relations from architecture and skeletons with realized relations extracted from generated code. It further uses tool-grounded verification evidence to support reliable state updates and abstracts reusable repair experiences from previous revision attempts to guide subsequent generation. Extensive experiments on project-level benchmarks of different scales, including DevBench and CodeProjectEval, demonstrate that EvoCodeAgent consistently outperforms baseline approaches. Under the GPT-5 setting, it achieves unit test pass rates of 60.48% and 27.73%, respectively, yielding up to a 53.5% improvement over the strongest baseline.

MuLaCover: Flexible Cover Song Generation via Symbolic Tonal Control

Lynn Yi, Zihan Xiong, Junjie Cao, Xiaolong Weng, Yingzhe Ma, Gus Xia, Jinliang Liu, Yuxin Xie 等 20 位作者

A cover song re-renders an existing piece, most commonly by preserving its tonal content -- melody and chord progression -- while reshaping other musical attributes. This suggests a natural formulation for generative cover synthesis with pretrained music language models: explicitly control tonal content, while specifying lyrics and style through text. Existing approaches condition on frame-level features, tightly coupling generation to the reference's timing and structure, and limiting flexibility such as tempo variation, structural rearrangement, or partial conditioning. To this end, we present MuLaCover, a cover generation model that conditions a pretrained text-to-song foundation model on an editable symbolic lead sheet. Our design enables alignment-free control: generated outputs preserve the tonal signature of the source without frame-level alignment, allowing flexible timing, structure, and segment-level generation. We further introduce a training curriculum with partially mismatched audio-symbolic pairs, improving diversity and robustness. We evaluate MuLaCover with objective metrics, standard subjective ratings, and in-depth expert interviews that provide fine-grained diagnostic insights. Experiments show that MuLaCover achieves state-of-the-art performance among open-source systems and is competitive with leading commercial models such as Suno-v5.5. Trace2World: Reconstructing App Worlds from Real Interaction Traces for Scalable GUI Agent Training

Zezhou Wang, Hanzhang Zhou, Panrong Tong, Quyu Kong, Pengxiang Li, Steven Hoi, Zhuzhong Qian, Yue Wang

Scaling GUI reinforcement learning requires environments that preserve real-app behavior. Yet coupling behavior inference with coding can turn partial traces into runnable mocks with incorrect state transitions. We introduce \textbf{Trace2World}, which separates global behavior reconstruction from implementation. It reconciles traces into a shared, source-linked app model, then compiles an executable environment. Independent replay of source workflows localizes mismatches for bounded implementation repair. Validated worlds then support learner-adaptive task and environment augmentation within source-supported behavior. From 1,570 traces, Trace2World constructs 50 environments. On 200 workflows across ten apps, 91.1% are reproduced end to end, versus 59.8% for the strongest matched task-local baseline. Source-grounded validation retains 94.0% of simulated training gains on real devices, versus 54.7% under self-validation. Learner guidance raises benchmark success from 56.9% to 61.1%. Training in Trace2World further improves the model by 20.2 points on our benchmark, 5.4--16.2 points across four external GUI benchmarks, and 16.3 points on 100 real-device tasks. Reliable reconstruction separates what behavior source evidence supports from whether the implementation preserves it.

MM-VeriAgent: Learning to Use Extensive Tools to Verify Multimodal Misinformation with Reinforcement Learning

Peipei Li, Shuhan Xia, Shengyang Liu, Zekun Li, Ran He

Real-world multimodal misinformation often involves mixed forgery sources, requiring sample-specific detection strategies. Existing tool-augmented methods rely on predefined workflows or inference-time planning, limiting adaptability or increasing inference cost. To address this issue, we introduce \textbf{MM-VeriAgent}, which learns to verify mixed-source multimodal misinformation with tools. We first build \textbf{MM-VeriTools}, a specialized toolkit for misinformation detection agents. By benchmarking various candidate models and methods on the sub-tasks required by mixed-source detection, we select the strongest for textual, visual, and cross-modal forgery analysis and encapsulate them as callable tools with a unified interface. On top of this toolkit, we train the LVLM agent with reinforcement learning to teach it how to use these tools to better solve mixed-source detection. Since many of the tools are specialized models whose online execution at every rollout severely limits RL efficiency, we further introduce \textbf{Tool-Execution Cache}, which pre-executes candidate tool calls and reuses their cached outputs during training. This preserves multi-step rollouts while reducing online tool execution, largely improving the training efficiency.Experiments on MMFakeBench demonstrate substantial accuracy gains over the base model without explicit tool search at inference time. Ablation and efficiency analyses further validate the learned tool-use policy and show that Tool-Execution Cache reduces online tool executions during training.

CARM: Conformal Adaptive Risk Masking for Reliable Scientific Super-Resolution

Guangtao Zhang, Haonan Wu, Junxuan Gao, Zhengyang Liu, Zhaoxi Zeng, Zhihao Li, Jianguo Huang, Zhiqiang Liu

Deep learning-based super-resolution (SR) can reconstruct fine-scale Earth-observation fields from coarse observations, but reconstruction accuracy alone does not provide a calibrated rule for identifying reliable spatial regions. Conformal Mask Calibration (CMC), built on conformal risk control, converts a spatial uncertainty score into a trust mask and controls the expected worst-case local distortion under exchangeability. However, its fixed threshold can become miscalibrated in Earth-observation streams affected by seasonality and episodic events. We propose $\textit{CARM}$ (Conformal Adaptive Risk Masking), a statistical framework for adaptive spatial risk control under temporal distribution shift. CARM maintains experts with heterogeneous update rates and aggregates their threshold proposals online using an asymmetric surrogate loss, balancing rapid adaptation to distribution changes against stability during relatively stationary periods. All updates are causal and use only mature feedback available after a fixed delay, allowing CARM to operate with any SR model that provides a spatial uncertainty score. We prove that the time-averaged mask-conditioned risk converges to at most $α$ at an $O(1/T)$ rate, without distributional assumptions and for any choice of aggregation weights across experts. On a daily South China Sea chlorophyll-$\textit{a}$ SR stream, CARM reduces the empirical violation rate from $43.49\%$ to $9.38\%$ and the moving-average exceedance frequency from $47.29\%$ to $1.22\%$ at $α=0.10$, while retaining a non-trivial trusted region. Experiments on ERA5 wind and OSTIA sea-surface temperature further show consistent relative improvements across multiple SR backbones.

RDT-3D: Resolution-Decoupled Training for High-Fidelity 3D Geometry Generation

Jiale Zhang, Yang Liu, Chengyang Li, Jin Yuan, Qianxi Jia, Taicheng Huang

High-fidelity 3D geometry generation requires maintaining global structural coherence alongside fine-grained surface details. While recent coarse-to-fine frameworks leverage Rotary Position Embeddings (RoPE) to condition local queries, we reveal a critical training-inference resolution discrepancy: coordinate guidance and geometric supervision are aligned during training, whereas inference decodes high-resolution geometry from coarse spatial coordinates. This mismatch introduces a severe distribution shift that degrades fine details. To overcome this, we propose Resolution-Decoupled Training (RDT), which anchors RoPE guidance at 512 resolution while supervising geometry at 1536, enabling robust detail extrapolation. Additionally, to eliminate high-resolution data bottlenecks, we present Dual3D-300K, a large-scale paired dataset comprising 300K watertight 3D point clouds explicitly aligned across 512 and 1536 resolutions. Extensive experiments demonstrate that RDT substantially improves sharp geometric regions, while Dual3D-300K offers a scalable benchmark for high-resolution 3D generation.

XuanJian-DINOSAR: A SAR Foundation Model Based on Global and Local Semantic Consistency

Chunxiao Wu, Huixin Huang, Jialei Pan, Qiang Liang, Tao Wu, Cheng Wu, Long Huang, Yuanji Li 等 12 位作者

Self-supervised pre-training on synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery enables transferable representations, but the optical-SAR domain gap and speckle perturbations limit representation stability. Most SAR foundation models use masked image modeling (MIM) through pixel reconstruction or structural feature prediction, which is sensitive to speckle or relies on predefined operators. Joint modeling of cross-view semantics and perturbation stability at corresponding spatial locations remains underexplored. We propose XuanJian-DINOSAR, a SAR foundation model based on global and local semantic consistency. We curate over 360K publicly available SAR target chips, detection images, and scene images spanning diverse targets, scenes, and sensors, and adapt an optically pre-trained DINOv2 model to SAR through self-supervised learning. The framework combines DINO global semantic self-distillation, iBOT local masked modeling, and KoLeo feature-distribution regularization to learn globally discriminative and locally structure-aware representations. We introduce a local semantic consistency branch tailored to SAR intensity statistics and coherent imaging characteristics. Shared geometric transformations produce spatially aligned teacher weak views and student strong views. Intensity transformations and Gamma multiplicative speckle perturbations are applied to student views, while a cosine consistency loss aligns patch tokens at corresponding locations, promoting stability under radiometric perturbations. This objective complements the cross-region and cross-scale semantic consistency of DINOv2 multi-crop training, jointly enforcing global and local semantic consistency. Experiments on multiple downstream classification and detection datasets demonstrate state-of-the-art performance on most evaluation metrics, validating the generality and transferability of the learned representations.

UniCompress: From Multi-LoRA Experts to One Compact Model for Edge Intelligence

Mingkang Liu, Peipei Jiao, Weiming Meng, Tianyuan Liu, Lichen Pang, Junyan Li

Embodied and edge systems increasingly rely on vision-language models (VLMs) to support heterogeneous skills, yet deploying a separate task adapter for each skill while retaining a high-precision backbone creates substantial memory and management costs. We present UniCompress, a deployment-oriented framework that converts multi-task expertise into one compact, adapter-free model. Starting from a consolidated BF16 Qwen3-VL-4B teacher, UniCompress constructs an asymmetric INT2 student using GPTQ initialization and teacher-guided quantization recovery. The approach jointly quantizes and recovers the projection weights in the vision encoder and language backbone, enabling aggressive compression of the complete vision-language model while preserving its multi-task behavior. We evaluate UniCompress on four heterogeneous embodied tasks: posture recognition, household-safety understanding, multimodal dialogue routing, and mobile-GUI action prediction. UniCompress reduces the approximate weight storage from 8.9 GB in BF16 to 2.1 GB in INT2, corresponding to a reduction of approximately 76%. It improves the INT2 macro task score by 34.3 percentage points over GPTQ-INT2 while remaining within 0.9 points of the consolidated BF16 teacher. These results demonstrate the potential of teacher-guided joint vision-language INT2 recovery for deploying a single multi-skill VLM on resource-constrained embodied platforms.

RouTex: Multi-reference 3D Texture Generation by Reprogramming Rotary Position Encoding

Chengyang Li, Yang Liu, Jiale Zhang, Qiang Rao, Wei Zhang, Taicheng Huang

While single-image 3D texture generation has advanced significantly, conditioning texture synthesis on multi-view reference images remains largely under-explored, despite its necessity for resolving surface ambiguity in unobserved regions. In this paper, we propose RouTex, a novel multi-reference 3D texture generation framework based on in-context Diffusion Transformers (DiT). Our key insight is that native 3D Rotary Position Encoding (RoPE) inherently possesses spatial addressing capabilities. We introduce Positional Routing (PR) to reprogram 3D RoPE along spatial and semantic dimensions, establishing explicit reference-to-view correspondence without introducing additional parameters. To execute this routing efficiently, Dual-Granularity Attention (DGA) combines per-view local attention for fine texture fidelity with global joint attention over deduplicated references for cross-view consistency. Extensive experiments demonstrate that RouTex achieves new state-of-the-art performance in multi-reference 3D texture generation.

HYPIC: Position-Independent Caching for Hybrid-Attention LLM Serving

Yifei Liu, Juntong Wu, Yang Liu, Junhao Hu, Minghao Li, Xiaoxu Chen, Weihang Chen

In retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and agentic LLM serving, prompts are assembled from multiple independent segments into long contexts, making prefill dominate the computation cost. To reduce this cost, position-independent caching (PIC) admits KV reuse for non-contiguous segments across requests, while hybrid-attention models reduce computational complexity using linear attention. However, existing PIC methods break down on hybrid-attention models because their per-token KV-cache reuse primitives do not transfer to per-request recurrent states. In this work, we present HYPIC, the first system to accelerate hybrid-attention LLM serving with position-independent caching. For linear-attention layers, we identify the segment-cumulative transition operator as the missing algebraic primitive and cache it for each segment, enabling near-exact and constant-time state composition. For the remaining full-attention layers, we construct a small seam window to propagate hidden states through the linear-attention layers, so that cross-segment attention can be repaired by recomputation. Finally, HYPIC introduces segment parallelism, which parallelizes cache-miss prefill across instances, turning long cold requests into an accelerable workload. Evaluated across four hybrid-attention models and five workloads, HYPIC reduces time-to-first-token (TTFT) by $3.25\times$ on average and improves QPS by $1.66\times$ over Prefix Cache, while preserving task quality with a $1.71$-point gap from Full Recompute.

Alleviating Limited Effectiveness and Multi-Class Collapse in Deep Graph-level Clustering

Xiaoyang Lin, Renchi Yang, Yuqi Chen, Xin Huang

Given a collection of $N$ graphs, graph-level clustering (GLC) seeks to partition the $N$ graphs into semantically meaningful groups, which serves as a fundamental task in analyzing graph-structured data. While Graph Isomorphism Networks (GINs) have become the de facto encoders for GLC, they still fail to distinguish graphs due to their neglect of global topology. On top of that, existing deep clustering frameworks suffer from severe "clustering collapse" issues, particularly in imbalanced multi-class scenarios. To address these challenges, we propose S$^3$GLC, a novel framework that integrates global topological characteristics with local neighborhood features for balanced GLC. Theoretically, we leverage the Hoffman-Wielandt inequality to construct Spectral Signature as a rigorous lower bound for graph edit distance (GED), providing a computationally efficient proxy for global topological features. We additionally propose a joint manifold-preserving sparse regression module to fuse Spectral Signature with Spatial Representation, eliminating noise while preserving the complementary information. Furthermore, to mitigate clustering collapse, we introduce a balanced clustering objective based on optimal transport, harnessing the Sinkhorn-Knopp normalization to enforce equipartition constraints on cluster assignments. Extensive experiments on 10 real-world datasets demonstrate that S$^3$GLC significantly outperforms 15 state-of-the-art baselines, achieving remarkable improvements on benchmark datasets such as REDDIT-12K and OGBG-PPA.

Act-HiMotif: Hierarchical Daily Activity Schedule Generation via Learned Activity-Structure Motifs

Yushi Bai, Kang Liu, Ling Yin, Wei Wang, Yilin Lyu

Generating daily activity schedules from individual attributes (e.g., age and income) is valuable for activity-based travel modeling and human behavior simulation. The task is challenging because exact activity structures follow a highly imbalanced, long-tailed distribution, while the same structure can admit multiple duration allocations under a fixed full-day budget. Direct generation must therefore learn many exact activity structures from highly uneven observations while modeling their possible temporal realizations. However, many exact structures share recurring activity organization. Based on this observation, we propose Act-HiMotif, a hierarchical motif-based generative model that introduces learned, reusable activity-structure motifs as an intermediate representation between individual profiles and specific activity structures. Act-HiMotif first distinguishes home-only days from active days, then samples a motif from a profile-conditioned prior to guide activity-structure generation, and finally applies a budget-constrained duration allocator to generate activity durations that sum exactly to the full-day horizon. This hierarchy models home-only routing, activity-structure generation, and duration allocation at their corresponding levels, while motifs allow related structures to share statistical support without losing their distinct sequences. Experiments on large-scale travel survey data show that Act-HiMotif outperforms strong baselines in both in-distribution and spatial generalization settings, demonstrating the effectiveness of hierarchical generation and reusable activity-structure motifs for producing realistic profile-conditioned daily activity schedules.
