Multimodal large language models (MLLMs) increasingly address knowledge-intensive tasks by integrating evidence scattered across multiple document pages into a final answer. Because such answers are synthesized from many pages, the link between the answer and its supporting visual evidence can become obscured, hindering verification and trust. Cross-page visual attribution is therefore essential: it requires identifying the supporting pages and localizing fine-grained evidence regions within them, thereby making multi-page reasoning transparent and auditable. Existing approaches either process multiple pages jointly or iteratively refine evidence within a single trajectory, risking cross-page context pollution and, for interactive methods, substantial sequential overhead. We introduce \textbf{AttriSwarm}, an agent-swarm framework that assigns these concerns to separate roles: a leader handles global cross-page reasoning, while subagents perform page-wise attribution in isolation and in parallel. To support training and evaluation, we construct \textbf{AttriDoc}, a cross-page QA dataset linking supporting pages to their annotated evidence regions, and use it for role-specific training of AttriSwarm, improving answer accuracy, page-level $F_1$, and region-level IoU over its training-free counterpart by an average of 18.94, 29.34, and 23.04 percentage points, respectively, across three open-source backbones and three datasets.

Recent advances in multimodal large language models have increased interest in interaction paradigms for video understanding. The evolution from offline to streaming and proactive interaction has gradually shifted models from passive responders toward more proactive agents that can decide when to answer. However, existing proactive paradigms typically assume that the information required to answer a query is complete, leaving models to only wait or answer. In the real world, however, information is often incomplete due to uncertainty from either the video or the user. In proactive paradigms, such uncertainty can cause the model to wait forever or generate highly hallucinatory responses. We therefore argue that proactive interaction should be redefined with a third action: ask, allowing models to actively ask for missing information. To study when and what models should ask before answering, we introduce AskStream, the first multi-turn benchmark spanning video and user uncertainty for streaming video understanding, with four task categories and eight subtasks. It contains 438 videos with 2,714 manually annotated frame-level time windows across three types: wait, ask, and answer. Across both multiple-choice and open-ended settings, even the strongest model attains only 52.18% on our proposed Ask-F1 metric, highlighting substantial limitations in proactive information seeking under uncertainty.

LLM-based Multi-agent systems (MAS) have shown strong capabilities across a wide range of domains. Their success largely hinges on the collaboration topology design, which has emerged as a central research focus in the automated MAS design. However, existing approaches are fundamentally constrained by their reliance on homogeneous LLMs, which significantly limits overall system intelligence. In response to this limitation, we for the first time propose the concept of Automated Design of Heterogeneous-LLMs-based MAS (ADHM).ADHM sheds light on a promising avenue for advancing collective intelligence, which focuses on the automated design of cost-effective MAS composed of diverse LLMsand roles to suit various queries.Toward this challenging goal, we propose Hetero-Designer, a novel pipeline that efficiently encodes intricate dependencies among queries, LLMs and roles through a novel Binary-Star Transformer and constructs Hetero-MAS in an autoregressive graph generation process. Extensive experiments demonstrate that Hetero-Designer is: (1) high-performing on various benchmarks, (2) economical in reducing overhead, (3) extensible to unseen LLMs and roles.
