HALO: Human-Grounded Granular Evaluation of Proactive Agents

Wenqi Pei, Xinyu Wang, Jinrui Liu, Cynthia Zhuge, Jie Sheng, Zihan Wang, Tenghao Huang, Muhao Chen

Proactive agents must decide whether, when, and how far to assist without an explicit request. Existing evaluations often rely on automated scores or binary verdicts, offering limited human diagnosis of evidence use and intervention quality. To address these gaps, we introduce HALO, Human-Grounded GrAnular EvaLuation of PrOactive Agents. HALO-Arena covers 4 proactive need types, Dependency, Blockage, Risk, and Opportunity, across 10 everyday domains and 50 personal environments. Scenarios require agents to retrieve evidence from structured databases or unstructured documents before judging whether assistance is warranted and choosing its scope. On HALO-Arena, we construct HALO-8K, a dataset of 8,000 responses from 10 models across 400 scenarios, annotated by 20 experts for action level, acceptability verdicts, and human diagnosis. For rejected responses, human diagnosis covers timing, intensity, and other issues. Recorded reasoning tokens and retrieval rounds measure the effort behind these responses. The best proprietary and open-source models achieve 72.88% and 56.63% acceptability, respectively. Our central finding is that over-proactivity is the dominant observed failure mode, with Premature timing or Excessive intensity accounting for 61.20% of rejected responses. Further analyses yield complementary findings on the balance between intervention and restraint, evidence acquisition, and the calibration of timing and intensity.

CALM: Conflict-Aware Lifecycle Memory Governance for Long-Horizon Language Agents

Chang Li, Xianhao Ou, Xinyan Ma, Hao Li, Haoyuan Xu, Jiafeng Liang, Xiaohan Wang, Jiajun Chai 等 10 位作者

A memory can be outdated for present-day reasoning yet indispensable for reconstructing the past. Relevance-based retrieval overlooks this tension: semantic relevance, evidence-grounded validity, and query-specific eligibility are distinct. We propose CALM, a conflict-aware lifecycle memory governance framework that decouples persistent memory preservation from query-time admission. CALM converts heterogeneous records into evidence-grounded memory cells, updates validity and lifecycle states using support, conflict, and dependency signals, and admits query-appropriate evidence through training-free or learned gating informed by temporal applicability. Across LongMemEval-S and LoCoMo with Qwen and GPT backbones, CALM outperforms state-of-the-art baselines, achieving the best overall accuracy. Compared with simple filtering and reranking, query-conditioned admission further improves evidence selection. Conflict-blocking and robustness analyses show CALM suppresses erroneous retrieved memories while retaining useful evidence. Historical-reconstruction experiments demonstrate that preserving superseded records supports accurate earlier-state reasoning without compromising current-state answers.

Knowledge-structured and evidence-aware semantic self-distillation for glomerular pathology foundation model

Qiming He, Jing Li, Zihan Wang, Tian Guan, Yifei Ma, Zimo Zhao, Yanxia Wang, Hongjing Chen 等 27 位作者

Visual foundation models learn rich pathological morphology but lack explicit concept-level supervision. Vision--language pretraining can provide this supervision but requires costly image--text pairs. Here, we introduce GloSAGE, a semantic self-distillation framework that uses lesion profiles predicted by a pretrained visual teacher to construct structured pathology descriptions. Reliability-guided selection identifies image--text anchors, while Knowledge-Structured Pathology Text Synthesis and Evidence-Guided Negative-pair Construction account for partially observed lesions. Image--text alignment trains projection layers while retaining the frozen visual encoder; an intermediate Semantic Transfer Layer supplies features for downstream tasks. Developed on GloMillion and evaluated across seven glomerulus- and case-level cohorts, GloSAGE supported zero-shot lesion recognition, image--text retrieval, hard-negative discrimination and concept-intervention analyses. It outperformed its source visual model in most lesion-recognition tasks and improved lesion grading, while supporting competitive case-level disease classification, injury grading and baseline renal function estimation. Ablations supported the combined contributions of knowledge-structured text and evidence-guided negatives, and the intermediate transfer layer improved mean lesion-recognition ROC-AUC relative to the complete projection output. A frozen language model conditioned on GloSAGE features generated glomerular descriptions. These findings suggest that teacher-derived lesion profiles can provide annotation-efficient semantic supervision for extending a glomerular visual foundation model.

GlanceWAM: Sparse Test-Time Imagination for World-Action Models

Linhan Wang, Zijian An, Mingyuan Zhang, Chen Dai, Yi Xu, Can Cui, Jiayan Wang, Zichong Yang 等 11 位作者

Video generative models provide rich physical priors for robot learning, yet existing world-action models (WAMs) face a fundamental trade-off: synchronous video generation at control rate is latency-prohibitive, while abandoning test-time visual imagination sacrifices task success. We show that visual imagination achieves both real-time inference and superior success rates when generated asynchronously off the critical path and consumed directly in latent space. We introduce GlanceWAM, which decouples imagination from control on a single shared video DiT backbone: an asynchronous proposer glances ahead on a slow clock to imagine a single lookahead frame seconds into the future in the background, while an action head decodes action chunks at control rate (48 ms) purely in latent space without blocking. Enabled by a non-interfering attention mask that isolates video representations and staleness-robust horizon training that accommodates asynchronous lookahead aging, GlanceWAM breaks the speed-success dilemma. Trained purely on demonstrations, it attains 72.2% on the 24-task RoboCasa kitchen benchmark (vs. 67.1% for synchronous Cosmos Policy) and 99.0% on LIBERO while cutting per-chunk control latency 24x relative to synchronous world-action models (48 ms on one A100). In single-arm and bimanual real-robot manipulation, it achieves higher average success than $π_{0.5}$ without any robot-data pretraining. Code is available at https://github.com/linhanwang/GlanceWAM and real-robot videos at https://linhanwang.github.io/glancewam/.

Learning Without Clocks: Partition-Invariant Neural Network

Han Wang, Jingyuan Bao, Juntao Wu, Saiao Zhou, Yuman Nie

Event cameras, spiking cochleas and similar sensors emit asynchronous events, yet most learning systems first bin them into frames or packets, so the output depends on how the stream was sliced. Networks whose state is updated exactly at every event and evolves in closed form between events are invariant to this slicing. We ask what more makes the output (i) independent of the processing order of simultaneous events and (ii) continuous in the time stamps, even when two events cross in time, while (iii) staying sensitive to temporal order. For arbitrary nonlinear event models we prove that (i) and (ii) are each equivalent to pairwise commutation of the event updates, and that once updates commute, all order dependence comes from their non-commutation with the inter-event dynamics and vanishes linearly in the time lag. This identifies a class of time-mediated non-commutative (TM) models and yields a resolution-robustness bound for any model. We construct the minimal TM layer, a learnable, provably Lipschitz generalization of the Hassenstein-Reichardt correlator; prove that no single additive layer can uniformly represent ordered pair interactions, whereas a three-dimensional TM state can; show that each TM layer adds two levels of temporal nesting versus one for additive layers; and give a single-layer higher-order construction (TM-k) and a stacking rule preserving all three properties. We instantiate these results as the Clock-Free Event (CFE) layer, linear in the number of events, give a topology-free variant for temporal point processes with closed-form likelihoods, and specify a preregistered clock-robustness protocol with a physical-time threat model for spike-retiming attacks. In preliminary development-set experiments, the TM state beats an otherwise identical additive state by 3.5-9.1 points on DVS128 Gesture and by 24.5 and 30.6 points on SHD and Speech Commands.

Timestral

We introduce Timestral, a family of four time series foundation models for probabilistic forecasting, with 5M, 28M, 123M, and 209M parameters. Timestral sets a new state of the art on GIFT-Eval, TIME, and fev-bench, where Timestral-209M and Timestral-123M take the top two places on every metric. We achieve this with three ingredients: Decoupled Horizon Forecasting (DHF), which separates prediction tokens from the causally encoded context, so that longer horizons are trained without masking context and each observed value is both a forecast target and context for later forecasts; a covariate framework that natively supports known-future covariates within a causal architecture; and a two-stage pipeline that pretrains exclusively on a diverse, large-scale synthetic corpus before post-training on a mix of real and synthetic data with extended context. This report describes the model design and its benchmark results. Weights for all four models are available on Hugging Face and inference code on GitHub.

SCI-Defense: Detecting Persuasion-Structured Manipulation of LLM-Based Ranking in Generative Engines

Xucheng Yu, Haibo Jin, Huimin Zeng, Haohan Wang

Generative engine optimization (GEO) has reshaped how sellers compete for visibility in LLM-generated rankings. By embedding persuasive arguments in the content they control, sellers can influence how generative engines rank products and web pages and push their own items to the top. Existing defenses either detect harmful intent or unnatural language, which fluent GEO content often lacks, or rewrite all candidates, which alters legitimate listings without identifying the manipulated ones. However, these approaches overlook the persuasive structure through which GEO attacks influence LLM-based rankings. To address this gap, we present SCI-Defense, a framework for detecting persuasion-structured ranking manipulation, in which an LLM judge scores five persuasion devices grounded in research on influence and deception: authority, social proof, scarcity and urgency, comparative claims, and narrative purposiveness. Two lightweight gates for unnatural strings and inflated relevance complement the judge, and flagged candidates are demoted rather than rewritten, each with a record of the candidate and the criterion that triggered the flag. On 1,152 optimized CORE attacks across six Amazon product categories and six MS MARCO web domains, SCI-Defense detects 89.6% of reasoning attacks and 96.2% of review attacks at a 1.2% false positive rate and blocks 96.1% of the attacks that pushed their target into the top three. On a 120-query subset, paraphrasing and truncation block a similar share of attacks but push 4.0--4.5% of honest items out of the top three, compared with 0.6% for SCI-Defense.

Where Does Rhetorical Distortion Live? A Multi-Platform, Multi-Language Measurement of Influencer Content

Xucheng Yu, Jiangping Chen, Haohan Wang

Much of the manipulation in influencer content is not false but disproportionate, framing accurate facts as historic, urgent, or catastrophic. Existing approaches either verify factual claims or detect clickbait and propaganda in single-platform, single-language text; however, they overlook where such framing originates, because they treat a post and the replies beneath it as one unit. To address this gap, we measure rhetorical distortion with one instrument applied identically across six platforms and two languages, classifying creator posts and their replies separately. Our three-tier pipeline detects five literature-grounded dimensions (Significance Inflation, Anxiety Manufacturing, Novelty Claims, Loaded Language, and Temporal Distortion): bilingual lexical rules propose candidates, negative filters cancel known false positives, and an LLM verifies or relabels the candidates. This design keeps labels transparent and comparable across platforms, calls the LLM on only 14% of posts, and supports validation against human annotators and a second model. On 13,060 posts from 330 accounts on RSS/newsletters, YouTube, Bluesky, Reddit, Weibo, and X/Twitter, platform is far more strongly associated with account-level distortion than content category (partial $η^2=0.49$ vs. $0.09$), and X/Twitter scores highest (DI 7.74 vs. 0.78 for RSS). On X/Twitter, the top-5 replies under a post carry 3.5x the distortion of the tweet they answer (1.5x at equal length), while creator tweets alone are indistinguishable from YouTube and Bluesky; two human annotators and GPT-4o confirm this gap. Measured distortion on threaded platforms thus lives largely in the audience layer, which calls for measuring creator and reply text separately.

MLE-World: Predicting Machine Learning Experiment Outcomes with a Learned World Model

Brian Ko, Han Wang, Hejia Geng, Li Erran Li, Sherry Yang

AI research agents can propose, execute, and improve programs that solve machine learning tasks. However, executing each candidate program requires training and evaluating ML models, limiting how many candidates an agent can explore at each step. We introduce MLE-World, a world model finetuned from Qwen3.5-4B that predicts a program's terminal output (error traces, training logs, and validation scores) from its code and data description without executing it, together with a confidence score estimating the prediction's correctness. Because a prediction costs one inference call rather than a training run, MLE-World makes test time scaling (TTS) affordable for these agents. We build five TTS policies, guided by MLE-World, that compare several candidates per step by their predicted outputs: Sequential revision, Best-of-N, Pairwise judging, Fusion, and a UCB style rule that also adds an exploration bonus from this confidence score. Since predictions can be wrong, we run a candidate for real only when its confidence score is low. On 17 MLE-bench Lite tasks, MLE-World matches the real terminal output on 77.9% of held out programs, versus 41.1% for much larger prompted models. MLE-World guided TTS achieves up to 22.1% higher observed mean performance than the agent without a world model, with less real execution. Project webpage: https://mle-world.github.io/.

Goal2Pixel: Grounding Goals to Pixels for Vision-Language Navigation

Muyi Bao, Yuxin Cai, Hang Xu, Zongtai Li, Jinxi He, Jingfan Tang, Chen Lv, Ji Zhang 等 10 位作者

Vision-language models (VLMs) have become a common foundation for vision-and-language navigation in continuous environments (VLN-CE). Yet most VLM-based methods cast navigation as low-level action prediction, an interface that is ambiguous, tied to short-horizon motion primitives, and inefficient due to repeated VLM querying. We propose Goal2Pixel, a pure pixel-based paradigm that reformulates VLN-CE as navigable pixel grounding. Rather than predicting actions, Goal2Pixel uses the image plane as a unified spatial interface between VLM reasoning and robot motion: the model predicts a visible navigable pixel, which is back-projected into a 3D waypoint for forward navigation. Non-forward actions are encoded by auxiliary left/right/bottom regions for turning and stopping. To support long-horizon navigation, we propose ViKeyMem, a visibility-aware keyframe memory, achieving a favorable performance-efficiency trade-off while reducing training cost by over 50%. To adapt pretrained VLMs to navigable pixel grounding, we introduce semantic embeddings and coordinate-aware auxiliary losses. Among methods trained without external data, Goal2Pixel achieves competitive state-of-the-art performance on R2R-CE and RxR-CE. On R2R-CE Val-Unseen, it achieves 54.1% SR and 52.5% SPL with only 7.75 VLM calls per episode. Compared with direct action prediction, Goal2Pixel improves SR by 21.2 percentage points while requiring 6 times fewer VLM calls. Project Page: https://baobao0926.github.io/Goal2Pixel/.

Less is more: learning what to profile for GPU kernel optimization

Yihan Wang, Peiyu Liu, Runyu Chen, Wei Xu

Large language models have recently shown strong potential for automatically optimizing GPU kernels, yet their effectiveness depends critically on the hardware information available to the kernel optimization model. Existing systems typically rely on predefined profiling strategies, leaving what to profile largely outside the optimization process. We show that effective profiling is not simply about collecting more information: increasing the number of profiling metrics does not monotonically improve kernel optimization, while the most useful profiling information varies across kernels. Our theoretical analysis further shows that, under such heterogeneous profiling utility, kernel-conditioned selection can outperform any single fixed profiling configuration. Motivated by this observation, we propose AutoProfiler, a feedback-driven framework for learning a deterministic profiling tree from optimization feedback. The tree is iteratively refined through REWRITE and SPLIT operations, with an LLM generating candidate modifications and empirical evaluation determining their acceptance. Once constructed, the tree quickly gathers the required profiling information for any kernel, allowing the LLM rewriter to be invoked only once. Experiments on KernelBench show that our approach improves kernel optimization over fixed profiling configurations under constrained profiling budgets. These results suggest that hardware profiling should evolve from static metric collection toward profiling reasoning, making profiling itself a new dimension for improving kernel optimization. The codes are available at https://github.com/Satissss/AutoProfiler.

Holomorphic Cauchy Networks for Efficient Stationary Tail Computation in High-Dimensional Reflected Brownian Motions

Kehan Wang

Stationary tail computation for high-dimensional reflected Brownian motions (RBMs) remains computationally challenging. Building on NN4MGF's shared-coordinate basic-adjoint-relationship (BAR) framework, we develop Holomorphic Cauchy Networks (HCNs). Native complex-valued rational Cauchy subnetworks enforce holomorphicity on pole-free domains, removing sampled Cauchy-Riemann penalties and their input-derivative graphs. Exact origin anchoring and boundary-coordinate exclusion enforce structural identities, while anchored interactions represent dependent transforms. Under holomorphic-log assumptions, we establish simultaneous value and first-derivative approximation for the constrained architectures and a mixed-derivative lower bound for coordinate-only representations under nonzero cross-covariance. Closed-form real-axis derivatives and sequential backpropagation further control memory. On the same NVIDIA H100 NVL, the tested 30D HCN configuration uses approximately tenfold less peak allocated memory and has 9.7-fold lower mean update time than NN4MGF; extrapolation to the respective scheduled update counts gives a projected full-schedule update-time ratio of 58.2. With 64 million sampled base inputs per high-dimensional run, HCN reaches 50 dimensions on a laptop GPU with 6.367% mean relative error over thresholds 1 through 8. Degree-matched comparisons yield lower reported mean relative errors over the primary evaluation ranges, including 1.422% versus 6.684% on the 2D Harrison non-product benchmark. An exploratory 10D correlated example illustrates the interaction extension.

OmniBrain-0: A Unified Agentic Model for Embodied Intelligence

Xiaomi Embodied Intelligence Team, Yuechen Luo, Chong He, Fang Li, Shaoqing Xu, Jingkai Wang, Menglun Su, Jiaxin Liu 等 32 位作者

General-purpose embodied intelligence requires robots to coordinate diverse skills over long horizons, track task progress, and recover from failures. Specialist policies alone do not ensure task-level reliability, while powerful multimodal agents rely on costly reasoning and external experience that compact models struggle to reproduce. We introduce OmniBrain-0, a lightweight unified embodied agent that coordinates manipulation and navigation through a shared high-level decision model, integrating task understanding, planning, progress tracking, and feedback-driven recovery. Our progressive training framework combines embodied pretraining, domain-specialized agent distillation, and multi-teacher on-policy distillation (MOPD). It distills powerful teachers' interaction experience into manipulation and navigation experts, then consolidates their decision capabilities into OmniBrain-0. Unification therefore occurs within the learned decision model rather than only at the tool interface. We further introduce Rubric-Guided Recursive Self-Improvement (RSI), a data flywheel in which a Meta-Agent turns execution evidence into refined rubrics, step-level reminders, and verified trajectories for domain-expert updates before their reconsolidation into OmniBrain-0 through MOPD. We evaluate OmniBrain-0 on LIBERO-Pro, LIBERO-Plus, RoboCasa365, RoboTwin 2.0, and R2R-CE Val-Unseen, as well as multiple real-world manipulation tasks. OmniBrain-0 combines strong cross-domain task performance with substantially lower inference and execution overhead than its closed-source teacher, demonstrating efficient transfer and consolidation of embodied capabilities into a compact unified agent.

CrystalREPA: Transferring Physical Priors from Universal MLIPs to Crystal Generative Models

Chengqian Zhang, Yucheng Jin, Duo Zhang, Tiejun Li, Han Wang

Crystal generative models mainly learn what stable crystals look like, with little explicit supervision for what makes them stable. We reveal a substantial representation gap between state-of-the-art crystal generative models and pretrained universal machine learning interatomic potentials (MLIPs) via energy probing, and show this gap can be closed by a simple training-time alignment. We propose Crystal REPresentation Alignment (CrystalREPA), a plug-and-play framework that aligns the atom-wise hidden states of generative encoders with frozen MLIP representations through an element-aware contrastive objective, transferring stability-aware atomistic priors with marginal training overhead and no additional inference cost. Across three generative frameworks, ten MLIP teachers, and two benchmark datasets, CrystalREPA consistently improves the thermodynamic stability, structural validity, and structural fidelity of generated crystals. Equally important, we find that an MLIP's transfer effectiveness is poorly predicted by its accuracy on standard leaderboards (e.g., Matbench Discovery) but strongly predicted by the distinguishability of its atom-wise representation space, yielding a practical, accuracy-independent criterion for selecting MLIP teachers for generative transfer. Code is available at https://github.com/Chengqian-Zhang/CrystalREPA.

Training an MoE LLM in MXFP4: How We Closed the Gap to BF16

Han Wang, Zhitao Wang, Natalia Frumkin, Xuanwu Yin, Alireza Khodamoradi, Dong Li, Emad Barsoum

Training large language models (LLMs) in sub-8-bit arithmetic promises substantial gains in memory bandwidth and compute throughput, yet FP4 formats introduce quantization error severe enough to destabilize optimization if left unaddressed. We present ALTO, an open-source training recipe for GPT-OSS-20B, a 20-billion-parameter mixture-of-experts (MoE) model, on the MLPerf Small MoE Training benchmark under the MXFP4 microscaling format. The recipe combines established techniques from Abecassis, Felix et al. [arXiv:2509.25149] (hybrid 1D/2D block quantization, randomized Hadamard transforms, and stochastic rounding) with a simplified weight de-oscillation scheme adapted from TetraJet-v2 [arXiv:2510.27527]. On C4 validation at global batch size 16, MXFP4 + RHT + SR + de-oscillation reaches a validation loss of 3.3350 at 16,128 steps, only 0.007 above the BF16 baseline (3.3283), closing roughly 50% of the gap left by MXFP4 without de-oscillation (3.3418). Measured by steps to reach the MLPerf quality target (validation loss 3.34), de-oscillation cuts the FP4 convergence overhead relative to BF16 from +20.0% to +5.0%. We also report negative end-to-end results from differential gradient estimation, outlier clipping, and macro-block scaling, despite each showing operator-level SNR gains. All experiments use simulated MXFP4 kernels on AMD MI300X hardware and wall-clock speed has not been optimized.

Revealing Imaging Characteristics of Thermal Wakes from Underwater Vehicles Without Cooling-Water Discharge

Guoyi Zhang, Yanjin Du, Guangsheng Xu, Zhengyao Zhao, Siyang Chen, Jingjing Gao, Yuezheng Zhou, Yiyang Wu 等 19 位作者

Small uncrewed underwater vehicles are proliferating and threaten maritime security, yet evade sonar and magnetic sensors built for larger submarines. Infrared thermal wakes, generated by hydrodynamic displacement that modulates the cold-skin layer, offer a non-acoustic, non-magnetic alternative even without cooling-water discharge. Existing studies, however, rely on idealized simulations that fail to capture real-world backgrounds, offering limited guidance for target-background discrimination. We establish AVP-IR-Wake, the first large-scale, real-world, physically diverse benchmark of 161,485 frames collected over three years. We show that thermal wakes are extended structures of discrete vortices, violating the compactness assumption of conventional targets. We reveal local indistinguishability: individual wake vortices are statistically identical to wind-induced background vortices in temporal, frequency, and sparse domains, sharing low-frequency information and long-range correlations. This challenges the assumptions of compact, transient, high-frequency targets in conventional detection. Yet we establish global morphological separability: although locally inseparable, the wake as a whole is organized by vehicle trajectory, whereas background clutter is organized by wind-driven thermal fronts. This explains why representative detectors fail and shows that reliable detection must shift from local feature extraction to global trajectory-constrained physical modeling. Because the cold-skin layer varies globally and seasonally, forecasting wake observability will require integrating physical oceanography and atmospheric science, linking underwater surveillance to the changing ocean surface.

DiffAuction: An Auction-Driven Framework for Generative Image Advertising

Yijie Su, Ruiyang Si, Tonghan Wang

Diffusion models enable multiple advertisers to compete for exposure within a shared generated image. Yet existing approaches are computationally costly when generating images under varying target-share configurations, and it remains unclear how the resulting outcomes should be evaluated and priced. To address these gaps, we propose DiffAuction, a framework integrating controllable generation, click-intent evaluation, and auction design. First, our training-free Residual Share Calibration (RSC) decomposes joint-attention updates into product-specific residuals and rescales them according to target shares. We further introduce Share-Conditioned Prompting (SCP) to adapt the viewpoint to each desired allocation. Second, we develop an evaluator that uses a VLM to extract visual evidence and an LLM to assess Click-Through Intent (CTI), a proxy for click propensity, along four dimensions: Product Prominence, Brand Recognizability, Scene Integration, and Contextual Value Communication. We validate its assessments against judgments from 10 trained annotators on 1000 images. Third, we formulate this advertising setting as an auction over jointly feasible generation configurations. Each configuration has a public expected CTI vector, while advertisers hold configuration-specific private values per unit of CTI that map click intent into commercial value. We adopt a learnable affine maximizer auction (AMA), which jointly selects a shared generation configuration and determines advertiser-specific payments to maximize expected platform revenue. The resulting allocation and payment rules guarantee dominant-strategy incentive compatibility (DSIC) and individual rationality (IR). Experiments show that our generation method strengthens the monotonic relationship between target shares and CTI relative to baselines, while the learned AMA achieves higher platform revenue in the resulting auction setting.

Squrve: A Unified and Modular Framework for Complex Real-World Text-to-SQL Tasks

Yihan Wang, Peiyu Liu University of International Business and Economics, Runyu Chen, Jiaxing Pu Zhejiang University of Technology, Wei Xu Renmin University of China

Text-to-SQL technology has evolved rapidly, with diverse academic methods achieving impressive results. However, deploying these techniques in real-world systems remains challenging due to limited integration tools. Despite these advances, we introduce Squrve, a unified, modular, and extensive Text-to-SQL framework designed to bring together research advances and real-world applications. Squrve first establishes a universal execution paradigm that standardizes invocation interfaces, then proposes a multi-actor collaboration mechanism based on seven abstracted effective atomic actor components. Experiments on widely adopted benchmarks demonstrate that the collaborative workflows consistently outperform the original individual methods, thereby opening up a new effective avenue for tackling complex real-world queries. The codes are available at https://github.com/LLM-Cube/Squrve.

CIRAG: Construction–Integration Retrieval and Adaptive Generation for Multi-hop Question Answering

Zili Wei, Yilin Wang, Xiaocui Yang Northeastern University, Shi Feng Northeastern University, China, Weidong Bao Northeastern University, Daling Wang, Zihan Wang Northeastern University, Yifei Zhang

Triple-based Iterative Retrieval-Augmented Generation (iRAG) mitigates document-level noise for multi-hop question answering. However, existing methods still face limitations: (i) greedy single-path expansion, which propagates early errors and fails to capture parallel evidence from different reasoning branches, and (ii) granularity–demand mismatch, where a single evidence representation struggles to balance noise control with contextual sufficiency. In this paper, we propose the Construction–Integration Retrieval and Adaptive Generation model, CIRAG. It introduces an Iterative Construction–Integration module that constructs candidate triples and history-conditionally integrates them to distill core triples and generate the next-hop query. This module mitigates the greedy trap by preserving multiple plausible evidence chains. Besides, to address the granularity–demand mismatch, we propose an Adaptive Cascaded Multi-Granularity Generation module that progressively expands contextual evidence based on the problem requirements, from triples to supporting sentences and full passages. Moreover, we introduce Trajectory Distillation, which distills the teacher model’s integration policy into a lightweight student, enabling efficient and reliable long-horizon reasoning. Extensive experiments demonstrate that CIRAG achieves superior performance compared to existing iRAG methods.

Demystifying Data Organization for Enhanced LLM Training

Large Language Models (LLMs) have revolutionized various fields, yet their training efficiency is heavily reliant on effective data curation. While data selection has been widely studied, the strategic data organization for enhanced training remains an underexplored area, particularly since current LLMs are often trained for only one or a few epochs. This paper systematically explores the influence of data organization on LLM training by reusing pre-computed sample-level scores originally generated for data efficiency, thereby incurring minimal additional computational overhead. We identify and formalize four key guidances for optimizing data organization: Boundary Sharpening, Cyclic Scheduling, Curriculum Continuity, and Local Diversity. Guided by them, we introduce two novel data ordering methods termed STR and SAW. Extensive experiments across different model scales and data sizes, encompassing both pre-training and SFT stages, validate the effectiveness of our summarized guidances. They also demonstrate the robustness of our proposed data ordering methods in enhancing the stability and performance of LLM training.

Probing Semantic Alignment, Lexical Invariance, and Syntactic Influence in LLM Metaphor Processing

Fengying Ye University of Macau, Shanshan Wang, Lidia S. Chao University of Macau, Derek F. Wong University of Macau

Large language models (LLMs) achieve strong performance on metaphor detection and interpretation tasks, yet it remains unclear what such behavioral success actually reveals about metaphor processing. We present a diagnostic analysis that examines the limits of behavioral evidence by probing three complementary dimensions: semantic attribute alignment, lexical invariance, and syntactic sensitivity. Using geometric probing, we assess whether model-generated interpretations align with reference semantic attributes; through context-varying substitution, we analyze the stability of lexical associations between metaphorical and literal expressions; and via controlled syntactic perturbations, we examine sensitivity in metaphor detection. Our analysis reveals that LLM-generated interpretations can exhibit semantic drift relative to reference attributes; stable lexical anchors persist across contextual conditions, potentially supporting conventional metaphors while biasing novel metaphors requiring contextual integration; and detection performance is sensitive to syntactic irregularities. These findings suggest that strong behavioral performance may reflect heterogeneous underlying signals, highlighting the need for caution when interpreting metaphor benchmarks as evidence of robust, integrated semantic understanding.

Large language models (LLMs) conventionally represent text as sequences of discrete tokens, making long-context scaling largely a matter of processing more tokens more efficiently. We instead explore a complementary direction: increasing how much original context each token represents. To this end, we introduce Glyph, a framework that renders long texts into compact visual pages and processes them with a vision-language model (VLM), allowing a fixed context window to cover substantially more text.To make visual compression practical, Glyph combines continual pre-training on rendered long-text data, an LLM-driven genetic search to identify rendering configurations that balance compression and task performance, and post-training with supervised fine-tuning and reinforcement learning.Across multiple long-context benchmarks, Glyph achieves 3–4× token compression while maintaining performance comparable to strong text-only LLMs such as Qwen3-8B, with over 4× faster prefilling and decoding and 2× faster supervised fine-tuning.Under more aggressive compression, a VLM with a 128K context window can handle tasks that would otherwise require up to 1M input tokens. Our code and model are released at https://github.com/thu-coai/Glyph.

SDiaReward: Modeling and Benchmarking Spoken Dialogue Rewards with Modality and Colloquialness

Jingyu Lu, Yuhan Wang, Fan Zhuo, Xize Cheng, Changhao Pan, Xueyi Pu, Yifu Chen Zhejiang University, Chenyuhao Wen 等 10 位作者

The rapid evolution of end-to-end spoken dialogue systems demands transcending mere textual semantics to incorporate paralinguistic nuances and the spontaneous nature of human conversation. However, current methods struggle with two critical gaps: the modality gap, involving prosody and emotion, and the colloquialness gap, distinguishing written scripts from natural speech. To address these challenges, we introduce SDiaReward, an end-to-end multi-turn reward model trained on SDiaReward-Dataset, a novel collection of episode-level preference pairs explicitly targeting these gaps. It operates directly on full multi-turn speech episodes and is optimized with pairwise preference supervision, enabling joint assessment of modality and colloquialness in a single evaluator. We further establish ESDR-Bench, a stratified benchmark for robust episode-level evaluation. Experiments demonstrate that SDiaReward achieves state-of-the-art pairwise preference accuracy, significantly outperforming general-purpose audio LLMs. Further analysis suggests that SDiaReward captures relative conversational expressiveness beyond superficial synthesis cues, improving generalization across domains and recording conditions.

MessToClean: Evidence-Grounded Structure-Preserving Reconstruction for Real-World Degraded Exam Paper Images

Intelligent education systems often collect exam sheets as in-the-wild photos. These photos often suffer from distortions and noise caused by handwriting and occlusions, collectively referred to as Real-World Degraded Exam Images (RDEI). Structure-preserving reconstruction is key to converting RDEI into structured assets for downstream educational applications. Existing Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) often fail under RDEI, leading to disrupted structure and evidence-unsupported hallucinations. To tackle these challenges, we propose MessToClean, a backbone-agnostic, evidence-driven pipeline that treats off-the-shelf MLLMs as interchangeable components. By grounding extraction in pixel-aligned evidence and enforcing post-hoc consistency auditing on recovered structures, MessToClean mitigates unsupported hallucinations and enhances both controllability and structural fidelity in question-level reconstruction. We curate RDEI-Exam from our educational platforms and evaluate across 12 state-of-the-art MLLM backbones. Across these, MessToClean improves stem consistency by 1.01-3.18%, figure consistency by 0.50-49.16%, and refusal F1 by 1.06-10.88% across question types.

Learning to Conceal Risk: Controllable Multi-turn Red Teaming for LLMs in the Financial Domain

Gang Cheng Bloomberg, Haibo Jin University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Wenbin Zhang Florida International University, Haohan Wang University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Jun Zhuang Boise State University and Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis

Large Language Models (LLMs) are increasingly deployed in finance, where unsafe behavior can lead to serious regulatory risks. However, most red-teaming research focuses on overtly harmful content and overlooks attacks that appear legitimate on the surface yet induce regulatory-violating responses. We address this gap by introducing a controllable black-box multi-turn risk-concealed redteaming framework (CoRT) that progressively conceals surface-level risk while exploiting regulatory-violating behaviors. CoRT contains two key components: (i) a Risk Concealment Attacker (RCA) that generates multiturn prompts via iterative refinement, and (ii) a Risk Concealment Controller (RCC) that predicts a turn-level Risk Concealment Score (RCS) to steer RCA’s follow-up style. We also build a domain-specific benchmark, FinRisk-Bench, with 522 instructions spanning six financial risk categories. Experiments on nine widely used LLMs show that CoRT (RCA) achieves 93.19% average attack success rate (ASR), and CoRT (RCA+RCC) further improves the average ASR to 95.00%. Our code and FinRisk-Bench are available at https://github.com/gcheng128/CoRT.

Multi-turn, long-horizon tasks are increasingly common for large language models (LLMs), but solving them typically requires many sequential model invocations, accumulating substantial inference costs. Here, we study cost-aware multi-turn LLM routing: selecting which model to invoke at each turn from a model pool, given a fixed cost budget. We propose MTRouter, which encodes the interaction history and candidate models into joint history–model embeddings, and learns an outcome estimator from logged trajectories to predict turn-level model utility. Experiments show that MTRouter improves the performance–cost trade-off: on ScienceWorld, it surpasses GPT-5 while reducing total cost by 58.7%; on Humanity’s Last Exam (HLE), it achieves competitive accuracy while reducing total cost by 43.4% relative to GPT-5, and these gains even carry over to held-out tasks. Further analyses reveal several mechanisms underlying its effectiveness: relative to prior multi-turn routers, MTRouter makes fewer model switches, is more tolerant to transient errors, and exhibits emergent specialization across models.Code: https://github.com/ZhangYiqun018/MTRouter

HSGraphAgent: Knowledge-Graph-Guided Large Language Models for Harmonized System Code Classification

Qiang Xia Tongji University, Zijian Zhang, Ao Wang, Wenhan Wang, Xiangyu Wang, Jian Li Tongji University

Harmonized System (HS) code classification is a hierarchically structured and regulation-constrained task, often complicated by short and noisy product descriptions. Misclassification can lead to tariff misapplication, regulatory violations, or delayed customs clearance, which in turn requires predictions to be both semantically appropriate and hierarchically valid. While large language models (LLMs) show strong semantic understanding, their unconstrained generation is poorly aligned with these requirements, often producing non-existent or hierarchically inconsistent codes. We propose HSGraphAgent a knowledge-graph-guided LLM framework that formulates HS classification as a stepwise, regulation-aware reasoning process over an explicit HS knowledge graph. By encoding hierarchical containment relations and regulatory exclusion rules, and enforcing them through a Select-Redirect mechanism, HSGraphAgent constrains inference to legally valid paths while producing explicit and traceable reasoning trajectories. Experiments on taxonomy-wide 4-digit and fine-grained 6-digit HS benchmarks demonstrate consistent improvements over direct generation and retrieval-augmented baselines, with particularly strong gains in fine-grained and regulation-sensitive classification settings.

The rapid evolution of software libraries poses a considerable hurdle for code generation, necessitating continuous adaptation to frequent version updates while preserving backward compatibility. While existing code evolution benchmarks provide valuable insights, they typically lack execution-based evaluation for generating code compliant with specific library versions. To address this, we introduce GitChameleon 2.0, a novel, meticulously curated dataset comprising 328 Python code completion problems, each conditioned on specific library versions and accompanied by executable unit tests. GitChameleon 2.0 rigorously evaluates the capacity of contemporary large language models (LLMs), LLM-powered agents, code assistants, and RAG systems to perform version-conditioned code generation that demonstrates functional accuracy through execution. Our extensive evaluations indicate that state-of-the-art systems encounter significant challenges with this task; enterprise models achieving baseline success rates in the 48-51% range, underscoring the intricacy of the problem. By offering an execution-based benchmark emphasizing the dynamic nature of code libraries, GitChameleon 2.0 enables a clearer understanding of this challenge and helps guide the development of more adaptable and dependable AI code generation methods.

Who Wrote This Line? Evaluating the Detection of LLM-Generated Classical Chinese Poetry

Jiang Li, Tian Lan, Shanshan Wang, Dongxing Zhang, Dianqing Lin, Guanglai Gao Inner Mongolia University, Derek F. Wong University of Macau, Xiangdong Su Inner Mongolia University

The rapid development of large language models (LLMs) has extended text generation tasks into the literary domain. However, AI-generated literary creations has raised increasingly prominent issues of creative authenticity and ethics in literary world, making the detection of LLM-generated literary texts essential and urgent. While previous works have made significant progress in detecting AI-generated text, it has yet to address classical Chinese poetry. Due to the unique linguistic features of classical Chinese poetry, such as strict metrical regularity, a shared system of poetic imagery, and flexible syntax, distinguishing whether a poem is authored by AI presents a substantial challenge. To address these issues, we introduce ChangAn, a benchmark for detecting LLM-generated classical Chinese poetry that containing total 30,664 poems, 10,276 are human-written poems and 20,388 poems are generated by four popular LLMs. Based on ChangAn, we conducted a systematic evaluation of 12 AI detectors, investigating their performance variations across different text granularities and generation strategies. Our findings highlight the limitations of current Chinese text detectors, which fail to serve as reliable tools for detecting LLM-generated classical Chinese poetry. These results validate the effectiveness and necessity of our proposed ChangAn benchmark. Our dataset and code are available at https://github.com/VelikayaScarlet/ChangAn.

FS-Researcher: Test-Time Scaling for Long-Horizon Research Tasks with File-System-Based Agents

Chiwei Zhu, Benfeng Xu, Mingxuan Du University of Science and Technology of China, Shaohan Wang, Xiaorui Wang Yuanshi- 元石科技, Zhendong Mao University of Science and Technology of China, Yongdong Zhang University of Science and Technology of China

Deep research is emerging as a representative long-horizon task for large language model (LLM) agents. However, long trajectories in deep research often exceed model context limits, compressing token budgets for both evidence collection and report writing, and preventing effective test-time scaling. We introduce FS-Researcher, a file-system-based, dual-agent framework that scales deep research beyond the context window via a persistent workspace. Specifically, a Context Builder agent acts as a librarian which browses the internet, writes structured notes, and archives raw sources into a hierarchical knowledge base that can grow far beyond context length. A Report Writer agent then composes the final report section by section, treating the knowledge base as the source of facts. In this framework, the file system serves as a durable external memory and a shared coordination medium across agents and sessions, enabling iterative refinement beyond the context window. Experiments on two open-ended benchmarks (DeepResearch Bench and DeepConsult) show that FS-Researcher achieves state-of-the-art report quality across different backbone models. Further analyses demonstrate a positive correlation between final report quality and the computation allocated to the Context Builder, validating effective test-time scaling under the file-system paradigm. The code and data are open-sourced at https://github.com/Ignoramus0817/FS-Researcher.
