EmbeddingGemma 2: Unified and Efficient Multimodal Representations

原文摘要

We present EmbeddingGemma 2, an open multimodal embedding model which natively represents text, images, audio, video, and combinations thereof in a unified space. Our approach introduces improvements such as simplified per-layer embeddings and a multi-stage curriculum with modality and objective progression which ensure strong quality across unimodal, cross-modal, and mixed-modal evaluations. Notably, in comprehensive embedding benchmarks across all modalities, EmbeddingGemma 2 establishes a new Pareto frontier, outperforming both specialist models and models two to twelve times larger. Furthermore, our design offers flexibility for resource-constrained environments, supporting selective modality encoder loading, adjustable vision token budgets, truncatable embedding dimensions, and quantized weights. We present ablations analyzing key decisions and release EmbeddingGemma 2 to promote further research.

Hy-Nomas: Towards Free-form Interactive World Generation

原文摘要

Interactive world generation requires models to follow successive commands while preserving relevant history and action consequences. We present Hy-Nomas, a video world model with an 8B diffusion backbone that supports free-form text instructions and continuous camera control across multiple interaction turns. It generates variable-length segments conditioned on current inputs and cached history. Our central design aligns structured video captions with action-aware causal attention: descriptive context remains accessible across segments, while action instructions are restricted to their intended temporal windows. A vision-language Prompt Enhancer (PE) translates user requests and multimodal interaction histories into structured conditions for the next segment. A multi-stage curriculum progressively introduces causal generation, text interaction, camera control, and training on model-generated histories, followed by diffusion distillation. In human evaluation, Hy-Nomas shows superior performance over existing world models. We release model weights, code and benchmarks, together with a lightweight adaptation workflow, to support reproducible research on interactive world generation.

Beyond the Estimate: Wiener-Informed Decoding for Easier Training of Pixel-Space Flow Models

Ziqiao Wang, Yang You

原文摘要

Learning velocity fields directly in pixel space is difficult and slow. We show that coarse second-order image statistics can ease this task: frozen Wiener estimates improve velocity learning, with gains extending beyond the linear predictions they explicitly provide. Moreover, we observe similar but complementary gains from frozen bases and pixel decoding. These observations motivate Wiener-informed Decoding (WiD), which uses statistical knowledge both for direct prediction and to organize decoder computation without modifying native blocks. WiD combines a trainable Wiener prediction path with coefficient interfaces that inject features into the native decoder and return its predicted coefficient corrections, with these components initialized with data statistics. All introduced parameters, including the spectrum and coordinate transforms, are trained jointly under the original pixel-space velocity objective. Across model scales and decoder architectures, WiD accelerates training and improves generation quality with modest parameter overhead. It also yields smoother gradient trajectories and remains effective with representation alignment. WiD improves class-conditional and text-to-image generation across different resolutions. On ImageNet 256 x 256, PixelDiT-XL with WiD reaches FID 1.53 after 500 epochs, achieving comparable quality to PixelDiT with 37.5% fewer training epochs. Statistical denoisers contribute beyond the estimate: their computational structure can also ease pixel-space training.

Instruction Capacity: Behavior and Degradation of Language Models under Controlled Load

Hennadii Kutomanov

原文摘要

The quality with which language models follow instructions falls as the load grows, yet there is still no quantity that expresses the limit of a model in units of load with an uncertainty. We propose an instrument in which the load consists of rules that replace single-token words in a text without meaning: such an instruction is atomic, the rules are independent by the construction of the task, and the outcome of every application of a rule is determined by a computable reference answer. Every occurrence of a word to be replaced becomes a Bernoulli trial with a known position in the answer and a known rule number. The statistical model first measures the shape of the dependence of the probability of a right replacement on the text length, the word position, the replacement density, the number of rules and the rule number, then describes it by smooth laws and restores a reference level that does not depend on the choice of the coding. The model yields the instruction capacity - the number of rules held at a given share of right replacements - with an uncertainty. A measurement of GPT-4o mini (2958 requests, 642,430 trials) gave regular laws for every load factor and for the collapse of the answer; the instruction capacity was about 37-38 rules at a share of right replacements of 0.95, and about 18-19 rules at the full replacement density. The code of the instrument, the measurement data and the passport are open, and every number of the passport is recomputed from the published points. The passport of a model serves as the calibration of a future meter of the instruction load of prompts.

PersonaCUABench: Benchmarking Computer-Use Agents Serving Diverse Personas

原文摘要

Computer-use agents (CUAs) are commonly evaluated against fixed task specifications, but users may omit requirements, add constraints, or require approval before consequential actions. Completing the benchmark instruction does not guarantee serving the person who asked. We introduce PersonaCUABench, which holds 74 tasks across 11 domains fixed and varies only who asks. A persona agent, playing one of 44 personas in four groups, rewrites each instruction in that user's own words and answers the CUA's questions, while the CUA sees only the dialogue, never the profile or the original instruction. Across nine backbones (3,330 runs), mean task completion falls by 36% relative to the original requests. The losses have two sources: in 59.9% of cells that lose points, the agent engages with what the user asked for and still gets it wrong, and 11.2% are stops the user requested that the checker scores as failures. Even when a persona request is fully completed, the user gives the top satisfaction rating in only 62.7% of cells, against 84.1% for the original requests. CUAs should therefore be evaluated not only on task completion but also on whether they meet the requirements and constraints users express. Code: https://github.com/MatrAIx-ai/PersonaCUABench.
