AdaMamba: Adaptive Frequency-Gated Mamba for Long-Term Time Series Forecasting

Xudong Jiang, Mingshan Loo, Wengen Li, Mingrui Zhang, Jihong Guan, Shuigeng Zhou

原文摘要

Time-series forecasting is foundational to a wide spectrum of web-scale services, spanning personalized recommendations, energy scheduling, and infrastructure capacity planning. Accurate long-term time series forecasting (LTSF) requires models to capture long-range temporal dependencies while adapting to periodic patterns that vary across variables. Although frequency-aware methods offer a global view of temporal dynamics, they typically rely on inflexible heuristic designs, such as predefined period lengths, manually selected or randomly sampled top-k frequency components, and separate spectral transformations. Consequently, they fail to account for time-frequency heterogeneity, where variables that appear synchronized in the time domain can differ substantially in the frequency domain. Meanwhile, Mamba-based forecasters, despite their efficiency in long-range modeling, introduce frequency information only as auxiliary signals, leaving spectral evidence disconnected from state transitions. In this work, we propose AdaMamba, a novel approach that explicitly internalizes input-dependent frequency information into the modeling of temporal dependencies. AdaMamba comprises an interaction learning module and an adaptive frequency-gated state space module: the former captures cross-variable dependencies and multi-scale temporal context, while the latter generates context-dependent frequency bases and unifies temporal forgetting into a single time-frequency gate that directly modulates state evolution. Extensive experiments on seven public LTSF benchmarks and four domain-specific datasets demonstrate that AdaMamba consistently outperforms state-of-the-art baselines while maintaining competitive computational efficiency.

FlashRelight: Portrait Video Relighting with Dynamic Lighting

原文摘要

Portrait video relighting aims to modify the illumination of a portrait video while preserving photorealism and temporal stability. The task becomes particularly challenging under dynamic lighting, where illumination direction, intensity, and color vary over time. To tackle this problem, we introduce FlashRelight, a novel two-stage framework for dynamic portrait video relighting. FlashRelight first suppresses the source illumination through delighting, and then synthesizes the target dynamic lighting on an illumination-neutral portrait video. FlashRelight supports three complementary control modalities: envmap sequences for explicit frame-level lighting control, dynamic lighting text for semantic illumination editing, and lighting reference videos for visual lighting transfer. Training follows a low-cost hybrid strategy that combines static one-light-at-a-time (OLAT) data with generated dynamic-lighting portrait videos, covering both controlled illumination variation and realistic portrait motion. Extensive experiments show that FlashRelight achieves temporally coherent and photorealistic dynamic relighting while enabling flexible cross-video lighting transfer. FatigueFormer: A Physiology-Informed Model for Upper-Limb Muscle Fatigue Assessment

Tong Zhang, Hong Guo, Shuangzhou Yan, Dongkai Weng, Jian Wang, Hongxin Zhang

原文摘要

Surface electromyographic (sEMG) signals provide information about muscle activity and function during movement. Fatigue alters multiple properties of these signals, with patterns that vary across individuals and contraction intensities. However, physiological insights into fatigue remain underused in sEMG modeling, particularly for cross-subject recognition. We introduce FatigueFormer to recognize fatigue states defined by ratings of perceived exertion (RPE). The model incorporates physiologically motivated trend grouping into sEMG encoding by organizing descriptors into increasing- and decreasing-trend streams and combining inter-window context with within-window feature interactions. To assess fatigue-state discriminability across contraction intensities, we further present an sEMG fatigue dataset collected from 30 participants at four levels of maximum voluntary contraction (MVC) and benchmark representative machine learning and deep learning methods. We evaluate performance offline under leave-one-subject-out (LOSO) and within-subject protocols and use the SWIFTIES dataset for external validation. Results support FatigueFormer's effectiveness across the examined contraction intensities and both datasets, while indicating that fatigue-related cues vary across MVC levels. An exploratory adaptation analysis shows higher FatigueFormer scores with more labeled target-user data on complete target recordings, which include calibration samples.

From Local Recovery to Unified Generation: Discovering Triple Set in Knowledge Graphs via Observation-Anchored Latent Diffusion

原文摘要

Triple set prediction (TSP) is to recover missing relational triples in a knowledge graph by predicting the triple set instead of isolated links. Existing approaches predominantly rely on the subgraph-based completion paradigm, where the original graph is first partitioned into local subgraphs which are then independently completed. Such a paradigm suffers from fragmented structural reasoning, limited cross subgraph dependency modeling, and missing predictions across subgraphs. This paper proposes LatentDiff, a novel unified latent generative framework for TSP, which reformulates knowledge graph completion as latent space graph generation. LatentDiff first learns a compact latent representation using a relation-aware residual-quantized knowledge graph autoencoder, which encodes the whole graph into relation-aware latent embeddings, quantizes them with chunked residual codebooks, and reconstructs triples through a factorized decoder. On top of this latent space, we introduce an observation-anchored latent graph diffusion model, where the target latent graph representation is perturbed toward the observed latent. The reverse process recovers missing triples through progressive latent denoising. Experiments on three benchmark datasets show that LatentDiff outperforms the SOTA in terms of F_{tsp} by 5.4 percentage points on average. Code: https://anonymous.4open.science/r/LKGDiff-44A5.

Neighbourhood shortcuts in building damage assessment from very-high-resolution satellite imagery: diagnosis and a building-evidence plug-in

JianChong Guo, YuTing Wan, Kefan Li, AiLong Ma, YanFei Zhong

原文摘要

Building damage assessment (BDA) from very-high-resolution imagery supports disaster response, and deep models now achieve high overall accuracy on public benchmarks. Because damage is spatially clustered, most buildings share the damage level of their neighbours, so overall scores are dominated by such buildings, whereas damaged buildings among intact ones are rare and easily overlooked. A high overall score therefore cannot tell whether a model judges the building itself or relies on its neighbourhood as a shortcut, and this study tests which of the two current models do. We stratify buildings by their agreement with their neighbours, move buildings into new neighbourhoods with their pixels unchanged, and diagnose nine models covering the main paradigms of BDA. All models miss a third to half of the isolated damaged buildings, and in non-flood events they call 73--87% of intact buildings damaged once these are moved into a damaged neighbourhood. We propose a building-evidence plug-in that adds two experts to an existing model without retraining it. One expert sees only the building, and the other sees its surroundings but is trained with seamlessly swapped neighbourhoods so that it learns not to trust them. With each of the nine models, the plug-in maintains or improves overall accuracy, reduces errors on buildings that disagree with their neighbours by 8--18%, and cuts by 40--69% the intact buildings that a damaged neighbourhood turns into damaged ones. It also raises the detection of synthetic isolated damage from 1--6% to 13--39% and carries over to optical--SAR data and to an unseen earthquake. High overall scores thus conceal a systematic reliance on the neighbourhood, which building-level evidence reduces at low cost.

GCSR-OCC: Geometry Calibration and Semantic Routing for Open-Vocabulary Occupancy Prediction

原文摘要

Open-vocabulary 3D occupancy prediction represents scene geometry and semantics in a unified voxel grid, enabling recognition beyond predefined categories. One approach reconstructs scenes with 3D Gaussians and converts them into voxel occupancy. However, Gaussian scale inflation and excessive overlap can distort voxel occupancy predictions, while semantic mixing can arise within Gaussians spanning multiple categories and during 3D--2D semantic feature alignment. We propose GCSR-OCC, which combines geometry calibration and multi-mode query-conditioned semantic routing for indoor occupancy prediction from a single RGB image. The Evidence-Conserving Gaussian-to-Occupancy operator (EC-G2O) uses kernel mass normalization, $p$-norm aggregation, and a learnable gain to suppress scale inflation and excessive local evidence accumulation while calibrating occupancy responses. Multi-mode Query-First Gaussian Semantic Routing (MM-QGSR) matches multiple semantic modes per Gaussian to text queries and aggregates query-specific evidence into voxels through a learnable text-conditioned router. Fine-grained subclass queries and smoothed semantic aggregation further refine voxel-level predictions. Without 3D semantic annotations, GCSR-OCC achieves state-of-the-art performance in open-vocabulary occupancy prediction on Occ-ScanNet, with 63.31% geometric IoU and 27.44% semantic mIoU. It also reduces geometric aggregation latency from 19.76 ms to 12.88 ms. Our code will be made publicly available.

The “Knowledge–Behavior Gap” in Cultural Taboo Safety of Large Language Models

原文摘要

Cultural taboo safety is essential for deploying large language models (LLMs), as culturally insensitive outputs may cause offense or even social harm. However, existing cultural benchmarks primarily assess cultural knowledge or values biases, while overlooking whether LLMs can recognize and respect cultural taboos, especially when taboos are implicitly hidden in seemingly harmless questions. Besides, cultural taboos are implicit, and context-dependent, thus poss unique challenges for reliable evaluation. To address these gaps, we introduce CulShield, the first public benchmark dedicated to evaluating and improving the cultural taboo safety of LLMs. CulShield spans 77 countries and regions, and includes over 2,020 taboos. It evaluates models along both explicit knowledge and implicit behaviors.Experiments on several advanced LLMs (e.g., GPT-4o-mini, Gemini-2.5-pro) reveal a clear “knowledge-behavior gap”: models often fail to apply known taboos during interaction. We further show that variations in linguistic context can significantly affect LLMs’ cultural taboo safety. Code and data is accessible here: https://anonymous.4open.science/r/CulShield-7A0E.

PII-Bench: Evaluating Query-Aware Privacy Protection Systems

Hao Shen, Zhouhong Gu Xiaohongshu, Haokai Hong, Weili Han Fudan University, Tsinghua University, Hongfeng Chai Fudan University

原文摘要

The widespread adoption of Large Language Models (LLMs) has raised significant privacy concerns regarding the exposure of personally identifiable information (PII) in user prompts. To address this challenge, we propose a query-unrelated PII masking strategy and introduce PII-Bench, the first comprehensive evaluation framework for assessing privacy protection systems. PII-Bench comprises 2,842 test samples across 7 PII types with 55 fine-grained subcategories, featuring diverse scenarios from single-subject descriptions to complex multi-party interactions. Each sample is carefully crafted with a user query, context description, and standard answer indicating query-relevant PII. Our empirical evaluation reveals that while current models perform adequately in basic PII detection, they show significant limitations in determining PII query relevance. Even advanced LLMs struggle with this task, particularly in handling complex multi-subject scenarios, indicating substantial room for improvement in achieving intelligent PII masking.

Mirroring Users: Towards Building Preference-aligned User Simulator with User Feedback in Recommendation

原文摘要

User simulation is increasingly vital to develop and evaluate recommender systems (RSs). While Large Language Models (LLMs) offer promising avenues to simulate user behavior, they often struggle with the absence of specific task alignment required for RSs and the efficiency demands of large-scale simulation. A vast yet underutilized resource for enhancing this alignment is the extensive user feedback inherent in RSs, but leveraging it is challenging due to its ambiguity, noise and massive volume, which hinders efficient preference alignment. To overcome these hurdles, we introduce a novel data construction framework that leverages user feedback in RSs with advanced LLM capabilities to generate high-quality simulation data. Our framework unfolds in two key phases: (1) using LLMs to generate decision-making processes as explanatory rationales on simulation samples, thereby reducing ambiguity; and (2) data distillation based on uncertainty estimation and behavior sampling to efficiently filter the most informative, denoised samples. Accordingly, we fine-tune lightweight LLMs, as user simulators, using such high-quality dataset with corresponding decision-making processes. Extensive experiments confirm that our framework significantly boosts the alignment with human preferences and the in-domain reasoning capabilities of the fine-tuned LLMs, providing more insightful and interpretable signals for RS interaction. We believe our work, together with publicly available developed framework, high-quality mixed-domain dataset, and fine-tuned LLM checkpoints, will advance the RS community and offer valuable insights for broader human-centric AI research. Our code is available at https://github.com/Joinn99/UserMirrorer.

League of LLMs: A Benchmark-Free Paradigm for Mutual Evaluation of Large Language Models

原文摘要

Although large language models (LLMs) have shown exceptional capabilities across a wide range of tasks, reliable evaluation remains a critical challenge due to data contamination, opaque operation, and subjective preferences. To address these issues, we propose League of LLMs (LOL), a novel benchmark-free evaluation paradigm that organizes multiple LLMs into a self-governed league for multi-round mutual evaluation. LOL integrates four core criteria (dynamic, transparent, objective, and professional) to mitigate key limitations of existing paradigms. Experiments on eight mainstream LLMs in mathematics and programming demonstrate that LOL can effectively distinguish LLM capabilities while maintaining high internal ranking stability (Top-k consistency = 70.7\%). Beyond ranking, LOL reveals empirical findings that are difficult for traditional paradigms to capture. For instance, “memorization-based answering” behaviors are observed in some models, and higher in-family scores are found in the OpenAI model family (\Delta = 9, p < 0.05). Finally, we make our framework and code publicly available as a valuable complement to the current LLM evaluation ecosystem.
