Models for physical AI tasks, such as robotics and autonomous driving, need not reason solely in language. They can use visual plans--points, bounding boxes, and trajectories--to represent spatial goals and anticipate motion. However, autoregressive vision-language models generate these plans one coordinate token at a time, making richer predictions increasingly costly. We introduce VFlash, a method for fast, accurate visual planning through Flash Primitive Decoding. VFlash exploits the known structure of visual primitives to predict their coordinates jointly, using a lightweight drafter that generates an entire primitive in one forward pass. The layout adapts to the primitive's type, dimensionality, and length, supporting compact boxes and long, variable-length trajectories. Crucially, spatial accuracy need not require reproducing an autoregressive model's exact token sequence. VFlash therefore trains on annotated primitives and directly accepts structurally valid predictions without target-token agreement. Across the evaluated 2D and 3D robot trajectory tasks, VFlash consistently reduces prediction errors relative to autoregressive decoding. Preliminary single-rollout measurements indicate approximately 25x faster generation for 3D point motion forecasting. A world action model conditioned on VFlash plans achieves 70.2% average success across four MolmoSpaces task suites, compared with 62.6% for the baseline.

Agentic forecasting is important for decision-making in dynamic environments, but it remains challenging because agents must reason from incomplete, time-limited evidence and produce calibrated probabilities before outcomes are resolved. Memory provides a natural mechanism for transferring experience from resolved forecasts to future prediction tasks. However, existing agent-memory methods are not tailored to forecasting, as they typically store past interactions, reflections, or factual associations without explicitly representing reusable predictive factors or calibration knowledge. We propose ForecastCompass (FoCo), an adaptive factor-based memory framework for agentic forecasting. FoCo organizes forecasting experience with a hierarchical forecasting-task taxonomy, enabling retrieval task-relevant forecasting knowledge. It maintains two complementary memory components: factor memory, which captures reusable predictive dimensions, and reasoning memory, which encodes probability updating, uncertainty handling, and calibration principles. Using retrospective analyses as learning signals, FoCo iteratively revises memory through a verbalized memory-revision procedure, enabling the agent to accumulate transferable forecasting knowledge over time. Experiments on Prophet Arena and FutureX with GPT-5-mini and Gemini-2.5-Flash show that FoCo improves both probabilistic accuracy and calibration.

High-fidelity diagram creation requires coordinated visual-spatial decisions over semantic topology, visual styling, and geometric layout. Existing methods face a representation gap: pixel-based generation offers limited object-level control, while code-based synthesis provides executable structure at the cost of intuitive manipulation. We introduce EvoDesign, an agentic framework for editable diagram creation through an intermediate canvas schema that is both machine-actionable and directly manipulable by users. EvoDesign first constructs a diagram manifest through coordinated structure, style, and layout agents, and then renders the manifest in a diagnostic verification environment. This environment produces objective defect signals and VLM-based critique, enabling localized refinement of the current diagram while also providing evidence for long-term design expertise evolution. The evolution mechanism distills refinement traces into a three-tier design expertise memory, where candidate strategies are linked to the verification evidence that supports them and are promoted into broader guidelines and principles only through repeated cross-context support. We further define CanvasBench, a canvas-recoverable benchmark and evaluation protocol with content, visual, and cognitive dimensions. Experiments across pixel, code-based, agentic, one-shot schema, and canvas-native methods show that EvoDesign provides the strongest overall balance across content fidelity, visual organization, and cognitive usability. For LLMs, skills are textual recipes encoding mature problem-solving experience. Despite widespread deployment, their utility is limited by the model's ability to comprehend and follow skill instructions. To address this limitation, we propose ParametricSkills, a framework that parameterizes textual skills at test time, enabling context-free management of the full skill lifecycle. Specifically, we first construct a large-scale and high-quality skill collection, and then synthesize single-turn and multi-turn skill-exploitation trajectories. Using this data, we then train a hypernetwork that parameterizes both the content and the exploitation methodologies of skills by converting textual skills into LoRA adapters. To facilitate the real-world application of our framework, we further align the hypernetwork on complex, long-horizon trajectories collected with OpenCode, enabling the models to operate reliably in realistic interactive workflows with ParametricSkills. Across evaluations, ParametricSkills effectively parameterizes skills, yielding substantial gains in task completion. More notably, as parametric skills accumulate as adapters rather than crowding the context, they open a preliminary but promising path toward continual learning at test time.

Reliable robotic manipulation requires both semantic understanding and precise control in three-dimensional space. However, vision-language-action (VLA) foundations largely inherit visual representations from 2D vision-language pre-training, while spatial supervision is often introduced only during task-specific adaptation. Developing spatial understanding as a transferable foundation-model capability therefore calls for learning from broader robot experience. We present SLA, a Spatial-Language-Action Model that scales implicit spatial alignment to continual pre-training and maintains it during downstream post-training. Initialized from a pretrained pi05 policy, SLA jointly optimizes action prediction and alignment between intermediate visual embeddings and spatial representations from a frozen 3D perception model. We curate and unify heterogeneous robot datasets to support spatial learning across diverse embodiments, tasks, and scenes. To accommodate this diversity, we introduce feature-dependent gates that adaptively aggregate visual embeddings from multiple VLA layers for spatial supervision. The teacher further exploits partially available depth and camera calibration alongside RGB observations, enabling effective use of heterogeneous geometric annotations. Probabilistic state dropout encourages reliance on visual cues and mitigates overfitting to demonstration trajectories. All auxiliary components are used only during training, allowing direct reuse of pretrained VLA weights and preserving the original inference architecture.

Data engineering for large language model (LLM) reinforcement learning (RL) decides which samples to train on, when to present them, and which to batch together. Existing methods mostly rely on external feedback, such as pass rates or difficulty labels, which observes only the outcome on each sample. We argue that model internals offer richer and more model-intrinsic feedback that can guide all three decisions. We propose SAERL which organizes RL training data in the feature space of Sparse Autoencoders (SAEs), a mechanistic interpretability tool that decomposes model internals into sparse, interpretable features. SAE features let us view the model as a set of functional regions, each formed by features that related samples activate together. For each sample, its SAE activations indicate which regions it engages, and its gradients projected onto SAE features indicate how training on it would change these regions. Guided by this view, SAERL keeps samples with strong and non-redundant gradient signals, trains each functional region from easy to hard, and trains one functional region at a time, drawing each batch from a single activation cluster with moderate cross-cluster mixing. The resulting curriculum is constructed once with small models and transfers to larger ones. Experiments on mathematical reasoning show consistent gains across model scales and RL algorithms. For instance, on Qwen2.5-Math-1.5B, SAERL improves the average accuracy of GRPO by 3.1% and reaches the target accuracy with 42% fewer training steps. Further analyses reveal that ordering and batching are complementary. These results demonstrate that model internals are a powerful and practical foundation for post-training data engineering.

Egocentric human video offers a scalable source of manipulation priors for robot learning, yet translating raw data scale into generalizable robot policies demands rigorous data curation and training recipes. We introduce Open-HumanWAM, the first fully open recipe for scaling egocentric pretraining to 50,000 hours, anchored by Open-HumanWAM-50K---a curated egocentric video corpus densely annotated with hand motion and natural language. Leveraging this corpus, we systematically investigate pure human pretraining via closed-loop simulation evaluations and uncover an empirical log-linear scaling law linking pretraining data hours to downstream robot success rates. Grounded in these findings, we develop HumanWAM-Vanilla, a world--action model pretrained exclusively on 50k hours of egocentric human video. Upon robot post-training, HumanWAM-Vanilla reaches 92.08% success on RoboTwin 2.0 Clean2Clean and 68.88% on Clean2Random, alongside a 14.17% mean success rate and a 19.00 mean progress score on RoboDojo. To push the capability frontier further, we explore joint human--robot pretraining with HumanWAM-Goal, a visual-goal-conditioned world--action model. Hybrid data scaling unlocks broad zero-shot generalization across both simulation and physical benchmarks, propelling post-trained RoboTwin 2.0 performance to new state-of-the-art levels: 92.70% on Clean2Clean and a substantial leap to 84.60% on Clean2Random. On physical robots, HumanWAM-Goal further exhibits emergent embodied in-context learning, dynamically adapting its manipulation behavior to unseen visual goals without parameter updates. To support reproducible scaling research in embodied AI, we open-source the Open-HumanWAM-50K corpus, data curation and pretraining pipelines, alongside the pretrained and post-trained HumanWAM checkpoints, inference code, and simulation evaluation suites.

Whose Values Are Generated? Measuring Visual Value Leakage in Multilingual Text-to-Image Generation

原文摘要

Text-to-image (T2I) systems serve users across languages and cultural contexts. However, evaluations of cultural representation focus mainly on recognizable elements such as landmarks, clothing, and activities, overlooking the cultural values that generated images convey. To bridge this gap, we introduce VisionValueBench, a multilingual benchmark that operationalizes six of Hofstede's cultural value dimensions (e.g., individualism versus collectivism) to investigate how T2I systems frame neutral social situations through a particular cultural orientation. We find that value-neutral prompts, which admit diverse cultural interpretations, nonetheless yield images that favor particular value orientations, a phenomenon we call visual value leakage. We evaluate prompts varying in language and geographic cues across 960 social scenarios and six T2I configurations. Generated images consistently favor the same value orientations across all six dimensions, for example, equality over hierarchy (low power distance), individual autonomy over group obligation (individualism), and enjoyment over restraint (indulgence). Prompt language has limited influence on these orientations, whereas geographic cues shift some dimensions toward the associated cultural values while largely preserving the prevailing orientations. These findings reveal substantial homogeneity in the cultural values conveyed by T2I systems worldwide.

PCBRouteAgent: How Close Are LLM Agents to Becoming PCB Routing Engineers?

Yue Zhang, Jilei Sun, Liqiang Jing, Yijie Wei, Ruohan Yang

原文摘要

Automating printed circuit board (PCB) routing requires coordinating board-level connectivity decisions with geometric execution under strict design rules. Although recent agents can interact with native routing tools, reliable routing on complex boards remains challenging. We present PCBRouteAgent, a multimodal PCB routing agent inspired by how human engineers coordinate global strategy with local execution. A Global Routing Planner combines board images and structured electrical and geometric information to specify connection topology, routing order, corridors, and layer transitions. A Detailed Routing Executor realizes these guides through KiCad's native routing engine and performs bounded local recovery. Unresolved failures are returned as structured feedback, enabling targeted guide revisions while preserving accepted routes. We evaluate PCBRouteAgent on 247 synthetic and real-world boards from four PCBWorld-Bench test splits. It achieves clean-pass rates of 100%, 94.9%, 100%, and 40% on D2, D3-A, D3-B, and D3-C, respectively. On the three real-world subsets, PCBRouteAgent outperforms the best evaluated baseline in clean-pass rate by 13.9, 36, and 10 percentage points, respectively.

Self-Improving Training & Thinking

原文摘要

Large language models are classically trained in stages: pretraining on raw text followed by post-training for instruction following and reasoning. However, this separation creates a fundamental limitation: many desirable behaviors such as safety, factuality, overall generation quality, and reasoning ability are only added at a late stage, even though the patterns learned earlier strongly shape a model's capabilities. To tackle this issue, we introduce a new way to pretrain and mid-train models that incorporates these behaviors earlier. We utilize an existing strong, post-trained model to both rewrite data and to judge policy model rollouts, thus introducing thinking and reinforcement earlier in training. We further improve reasoning at all stages by introducing the concept of self-improving post-thinking: improving the model's reasoning and self-judging ability by reasoning after generation. In our experiments, we show these approaches can give strong gains across multiple axes.

TailorRig: Controllable and Structured Auxiliary Skeleton Generation for Garment-Aware Rigging

Yajing Chen, Xin Chen, Saidan Lu, Yeqi Yuan, Weikai Chen, Changyu Hu, Cheng Zeng, Xin Wang

原文摘要

Humanoid rigging for modern characters with complex garments remains challenging due to the need for dense auxiliary skeletons and precise skinning control. Existing automatic methods primarily recover rigs from geometry, providing limited artist control over auxiliary articulation and often lacking explicit semantic or kinematic-chain structure for dense garment bones, leading to instability and weight bleeding. We present TailorRig, a framework that reformulates garment-aware humanoid rigging as a structured, controllable full-rig generation problem. This formulation shifts the goal from automatic rig recovery to artist-driven rig authoring, where both body-template compatibility and auxiliary articulation are explicit design choices. TailorRig exposes two explicit axes of artist control within a unified framework: a user-specified body skeleton template that preserves body-rig compatibility, and artist-provided semantic labels that drive an autoregressive generator to synthesize requested category-specific auxiliary bone chains. To robustly assign skinning weights under dense skeletal configurations, we further introduce a hierarchical chain-to-bone formulation: vertices are first associated to a kinematic chain, and bone weights are then refined within that chain, reducing weight bleeding between spatially adjacent but semantically unrelated structures. We evaluate TailorRig on a diverse set of characters and introduce Human-Mix, a large-scale dataset of over 38,000 humanoid models curated for garment-aware rigging. Experiments show that TailorRig improves skeleton accuracy, deformation stability, controllability, and practical usability over existing methods. GTAFL: Addressing Test-Agnostic Long-Tailed Federated Learning in Medical Image

Guangyu Chen, Jingyun Zeng, Hui Jiang

原文摘要

In healthcare, protecting patient privacy is crucial due to the sensitivity of medical data and its extensive accessibility. Federated Learning (FL) offers a decentralized and privacy-preserving training paradigm, making it an ideal solution for healthcare applications. A critical challenge in healthcare is that real-world medical data often exhibits long-tailed distributions in local and global views. Existing methods addressing long-tailed FL problem typically assume that the model will be evaluated on uniform test data distribution. However, practical test data in healthcare systems is often agnostic and unpredictable, leading to potential model failures in real-world scenarios. In this paper, we introduce a novel task termed Test-Agnostic Long-Tailed Federated Learning and propose GTAFL, a comprehensive framework to address this challenge. During the training stage, GTAFL employs adaptive re-sampling, expert classifier retraining, and self-supervised learning to correct biased classifiers and distorted feature spaces caused by long-tailed training distributions. During the inference stage, an ensemble mechanism combines retrained expert classifiers to handle test data with unknown distributions. Extensive experiments on CIFAR10 and two medical datasets manifest that our framework outperforms other state-of-the-art methods. The code is available at https://github.com/cgy-lavine/GTAFL

Towards Scalable Diagnostic-Driven Whole-Slide Image Retrieval for Pathology Archives

原文摘要

The growing adoption of digital pathology has rapidly expanded collections of hematoxylin-and-eosin whole-slide images, yet efficient navigation through these archives remains challenging, as metadata is often inconsistent or unavailable. Content-based image retrieval addresses this challenge by identifying similar cases directly from visual representations instead of manual annotations or metadata. Existing retrieval systems have demonstrated promising performance but largely rely on handcrafted indexing pipelines and predefined sampling strategies, constraining scalability and generalization. Here, we present CLEAR-WSI (Constant-Length Embedding for Automatic Retrieval of Whole-Slide Images) as a scalable, diagnostic-driven slide-retrieval framework, validated on both public and clinical data. Using a fixed-length slide embedding, CLEAR-WSI refines retrieved candidates with either a predicted diagnostic label or the ground-truth label, depending on the retrieval setting. Newly processed cases are subsequently added to the expanding memory bank, allowing the retrieval archive to grow over time. On a comprehensive benchmark consisting of two public and one private clinical datasets representing four retrieval tasks, CLEAR-WSI improves Precision@5 over the strongest evaluated baseline, with gains on CAMELYON16 (3.10), BRACS-1 (2.75), BRACS-2 (1.95), and X-HER2 (3.75). Additional ablation and latency studies further examine the contribution of each component and highlight its potential for scalable deployment.

CMDiff: Left Atrial Scar Segmentation from 3D LGE MRI Using Conditional Mask Diffusion Model: A Feasibility Study

原文摘要

Late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) cardiac MRI enables non-invasive assessment of left atrial (LA) scar, an imaging marker associated with atrial fibrillation ablation outcome. However, automatic scar segmentation is hindered by low contrast, the thin atrial wall, scarce labels, and extreme class imbalance. Conditional diffusion offers iterative mask generation, but its suitability for sparse 3D LA scar segmentation remains unclear. To address this gap, we propose Conditional Mask Diffusion (CMDiff), which predicts clean masks using a dynamic-encoder-conditioned 3D sinusoidal UNet. We compared CMDiff with a deterministic baseline on identical cases in five-fold cross-validation of 60 scar-labelled public LASCARQS subjects, with 48 training and 12 held-out cases per fold. CMDiff achieved a scar DSC of 0.47 $\pm$ 0.08, HD95 of 12.89 $\pm$ 6.39 mm, and ASD of 1.91 $\pm$ 0.96 mm, compared with deterministic baseline values of 0.51 $\pm$ 0.08, 10.86 $\pm$ 5.39 mm, and 1.58 $\pm$ 1.03 mm, respectively. Under the same implementation, clean-mask prediction performed substantially better than the noise-prediction configuration evaluated in this study. Thus, CMDiff was technically feasible but did not improve segmentation performance: DSC was lower, and both HD95 and ASD were higher. Direct mask diffusion therefore provides an analytical alternative, but not a competitive performance advance for this task. The source code is publicly available at https://github.com/jizhang02/CMDiff.

PBPO: Prefix-Block Policy Optimization for Diffusion Language Models

Katherine Tieu, Dongqi Fu, Si Zhang, Hanqing Zeng, Tianxin Wei, Chenglin Wei, Yinglong Xia, Hong Li 等 9 位作者

原文摘要

Diffusion Large Language Models (dLLMs) commonly decode responses by proceeding autoregressively across blocks while iteratively denoising multiple tokens within each block. This structure makes block-level policy optimization a natural adaptation of autoregressive policy optimization. However, the exact likelihood of a completed block is intractable because it marginalizes over the intermediate states and reveal orders of the denoising process. To realize the block-level formulation, we construct a prefix-block state and use a single model evaluation to define a factorized one-step surrogate for the block likelihood. The resulting block surrogate ratio is a product of its token surrogate ratios, allowing variation at individual positions to propagate across the entire block before clipping. We therefore introduce Prefix-Block Policy Optimization (PBPO), which preserves block-level conditioning but applies surrogate importance weighting and clipping separately to each token. PBPO further diversifies repeated updates by resampling corrupted views of the prompt and revealed prefix, a design motivated by masked-dLLM pre-training. Under our analysis assumptions, block-product weighting amplifies the variance of gradient contributions relative to token-local weighting. Across two LLaDA-family initializations, six benchmarks, and three generation lengths, PBPO achieves competitive performance against existing dLLM RL methods.

MedZERO: Self-Evolving Agents for Open-Ended Medical Reasoning Through Controlled Knowledge Accumulation

原文摘要

Large language models (LLMs) have shown promise in medical question answering and clinical reasoning, yet their improvement remains constrained by static parametric knowledge and costly expert supervision. Self-evolving agents offer a promising alternative by enabling models to improve through iterative task generation and problem-solving. However, most existing self-evolving methods are designed for easily verifiable domains such as mathematics and coding, where solutions can be checked by exact answers or executable programs. Medical reasoning is fundamentally different: it is open-ended, knowledge-intensive, and often only partially verifiable. We present MedZERO, a self-evolving framework for open-ended medical reasoning. MedZERO couples an Examiner that generates frontier medical question-option pairs with a Reasoner that solves them through evidence-grounded multi-turn reasoning with external knowledge tools. To support reliable, continual improvement, MedZERO adopts controlled knowledge accumulation, which maintains temporary exploratory knowledge and curated persistent knowledge in reasoning. We evaluate MedZERO on five public medical reasoning benchmarks using 4B- and 8B-scale base models under open-ended evaluation. At both model scales, MedZERO achieves the highest average accuracy among the evaluated methods. Code is available at https://github.com/IcecreamArtist/MedZERO.

OmniOPSD: Rationale-Privileged On-Policy Self-Distillation for Affective Computing

原文摘要

Multimodal large language models (MLLMs) have advanced affective computing by enabling nuanced reasoning over visual, acoustic, and linguistic evidence. A key approach to improving their generalization is outcome-based reinforcement learning, which converts existing label-level annotations into rewards for final-answer correctness. However, its sparse sequence-level supervision provides limited fine-grained guidance for interpreting multimodal affective cues and may reward correct labels even when those cues are misinterpreted. To address this challenge, we introduce OmniOPSD, the first on-policy self-distillation framework for omni-modal affective reasoning. At its core, OmniOPSD transforms label-level supervision into evidence-rich, teacher-only rationales by leveraging reference affective judgments as semantic priors for offline multimodal evidence elicitation from frontier MLLMs. Through rationale-privileged self-distillation, it couples on-policy student rollouts with dense, evidence-informed token-level supervision from a local self-teacher, allowing the student to learn along its own trajectories rather than imitate fixed reasoning traces. This decoupling of offline evidence acquisition from local policy learning enables training without additional human annotation, frontier-model logits, or online frontier-model calls, while preserving student-only inference from the original task input. At both 3B and 7B scales, OmniOPSD outperforms supervised fine-tuning (SFT) and group relative policy optimization (GRPO) in mean macro-F1 on both in-domain and out-of-domain evaluations. Among the compared models, it ranks first by MER-UniBench mean across all three input-modality settings, reaching 84.13 with audio--video--text input, and achieves the highest MME-Emotion recognition score (Rec-S) of 42.4.

RLVR$^{2}$: Reinforcement Learning with Verifiable Rubric-based Ranking

Hao Li, Zhengkun Zhang, Gangqiang Hu, Zhen Zhang, Yude Gao, Dai Dai, Jing Liu

原文摘要

Reinforcement Learning with Verifiable Rewards (RLVR) is expanding from tasks with well-defined correctness signals, such as mathematics and code, toward multifaceted quality requirements specified by multi-dimensional rubrics. Since policy optimization consumes one scalar per rollout, rubric-based pipelines must map multiple criterion scores into a scalar reward. This aggregation is often treated as score scaling, but it implicitly determines how quality dimensions trade off during training. The prevailing practice, normalizing each criterion and taking a linear combination, assumes that cardinal score differences are comparable across criteria and that gains on one criterion compensate for failures on another; both assumptions are unreliable when criteria are semantically heterogeneous. We propose Reinforcement Learning with Verifiable Rubric-based Ranking (RLVR$^2$), a verifiable ranking paradigm for rubric-based RLVR. For each criterion, RLVR$^2$ converts rubric scores into criterion-specific within-group ordinal outcomes, recovers a latent utility from the resulting comparison matrix, and merges these utilities into one training signal. By retaining only within-group ordering and discarding raw score magnitudes, RLVR$^2$ avoids calibrating heterogeneous rubric scales. It further supports objective-preserving attribute adjustment: auxiliary attributes that correlate with observed rankings but are not training objectives can enter the estimation without expanding the rubric or rewarding them directly. Across three model scales and 16 benchmarks, RLVR$^2$ consistently outperforms representative rubric-based baselines, achieving the best overall performance on most benchmarks at every scale. Analysis shows it controls systematic effects tied to reasoning efficiency and response formatting while preserving the quality objective.

Beneath the Surface: What We Overlook When We Talk About Agent Evolution

原文摘要

Agent harness evolution enables recursive self-improvement (RSI) without updating model weights. We examine whether higher benchmark scores yield reliable, efficient, and transferable improvement. We evaluate four methods across harnesses, general and coding tasks. Repeated evaluations, controlled agent expansion, component interventions, and admission replays reveal recurring patterns. All sixteen evolved agents gain previously uncovered tasks while losing previously covered ones. In one general-task case, reliability rises by 5.2 points despite losing ten previously covered tasks. Most reliability gains also increase deployment cost. Specific changes usually outperform generic reminders, but their benefits can change when combined. The highest-scoring agent does not yield the largest mean improvement in any of our four pools, and stricter admission can discard useful alternatives. Transfer selectively preserves gains: coverage usually falls on the general-task target across both harness types and paradigms, but rises on the coding target with the outer-layer-only harness. These findings motivate preservation-aware evaluation, tested decision rules, and explicit applicability conditions. As a constructive follow-up, EvoAudit turns these diagnostics into revisions of select, analyze, mutate, and gate, achieving the best performance.

While research prioritizes model optimization, post-deployment monitoring focuses on operational reliability. Yet operationally healthy systems may still produce poor-quality results, exposing a gap in existing evaluation and monitoring practices. However, a systematic problem formulation and benchmark for this task remain lacking. To bridge this gap, we formulate System Quality Diagnosis (SQD) for algorithm-driven services, a new task that extends quality evaluation beyond identifying poor outcomes to attributing their causes across system components. Focusing on industrial search, we propose WISE, an agentic framework for end-to-end quality diagnosis that discovers user-facing issues and traces their origins to underlying algorithmic components. To improve diagnostic reliability, we introduce ReTrace for constructing evidence-consistent trajectory supervision and Adaptive Harness-Policy Optimization (AHPO) for failure-guided optimization of the agent harness and model policy. To enable systematic evaluation, we construct WISE-BENCH, a real-world multimodal search benchmark that combines user-facing evidence, internal pipeline traces, and expert diagnosis annotations. Extensive experiments show consistent gains across model scales, with WISE achieving 75.20% end-to-end accuracy on Qwen3.5-35B-A3B. In production, WISE supports quality auditing, online quality assurance, and model optimization, reducing diagnosis costs and improving downstream relevance models.

The Gating Mechanism of KV Cache Eviction

原文摘要

KV cache eviction must decide which entries carry information that the rest of the cache can no longer supply. A natural way to estimate this is a learnable gate: give each cached entry a gate on its attention weight and train the gate on the model's own objective. The gate belongs inside the normalizing softmax, where suppressing one entry hands its mass to the others rather than discarding it. That same normalizer absorbs any per-query constant, so a constant gate cancels and reproduces the frozen model exactly. Trained on the language-modeling loss the gate stays near a constant score while its loss falls throughout: optimization succeeds, but a frozen backbone was fit for dense attention, so its loss prefers the no-op, and a near-constant score ranks nothing. The no-op is not a floor the gate improves from but what its objective asks for. A second obstacle survives once the gate moves, since the same gradient charges the gate for errors the frozen model already makes, which no reweighting of positions separates out. Much of the machinery in learnable eviction, from sparsity penalties to relaxations of the discrete decision, works around the first obstacle rather than removing it; both are removed by putting dense attention beyond the gate's reach and making the dense model's predictions its target. Under these two conditions capacity is never the missing ingredient: neither a larger scorer, nor explicit access to the past, nor a trainable backbone helps. The same holds for what eviction unavoidably discards, which is recovered by parameter-free centroids read inside the same softmax far better than by any memory read outside it, since the mass they must return is a share of that normalizer and available nowhere else. At 75\% KV cache compression, this gate reaches 90.14 on RULER at 8K and 46.03 on LongBench with Qwen3-8B, 3.72 and 1.36 points below full-cache inference.

TabPFN beyond Tabular Data: Calibration and Accuracy on Multimodal Embeddings

Jingxiang Zhang, Lujia Zhong, Zijie Zhu, Shuo Huang, Yuang Xu

原文摘要

Few-shot multimodal classification commonly attaches a lightweight head, such as $k$-nearest neighbors, logistic regression, or a linear SVM, to a frozen pretrained encoder. Although computationally efficient, these heads can produce poorly calibrated confidence scores. We ask whether TabPFN can provide reliable confidence estimates on multimodal embeddings without sacrificing predictive accuracy, and under what conditions. We systematically evaluate TabPFN as a zero-gradient head for frozen image, text, and audio encoders. Across 22{,}820 evaluation episodes spanning 14 datasets, 11 encoders, and three modalities, TabPFN achieves the best mean rank among nine classification heads on both negative log-likelihood (NLL) and expected calibration error (ECE). At a representative setting, it reduces NLL by 48--62\% and ECE by 2.1--5.3$\times$ relative to the average of eight baselines while matching or exceeding their average accuracy. This calibration benefit transfers broadly, whereas the accuracy advantage is conditional: it concentrates at moderate-to-high shot counts and low-to-moderate feature dimensions ($k \ge 50$, $d \le 32$), and diminishes when labeled data are scarce, feature dimensions are high, or competing methods approach ceiling accuracy. After backbone adaptation, replacing the trained linear head with TabPFN improves calibration while preserving competitive accuracy, showing that representation adaptation and reliable head choice are complementary. Together, these results identify when TabPFN can serve as a training-free head for calibration-sensitive multimodal classification. To support transparency and reproducibility, we publicly release the source code, experiment configurations, and evaluation scripts in our GitHub repository: https://github.com/Jingxiang-Zhang/tabpfn-multimodal-embeddings.

Beyond Independent Predictions: Learning the Browsing Journey for Sequence-Level Re-ranking

Jiayi Zhang, Jingxin Hai, Zhenjia Ma, Hongbin Pei, Dagui Chen, Han Zhu, Jian Xu

原文摘要

Re-ranking aims to present users with an ordered list that maximizes sequence-level utility. Industrial deployments widely adopt the Generator--Evaluator framework, where the generator proposes candidate sequences, and the evaluator scores them to select the best one for display. The fidelity of the evaluator's utility estimates thus directly governs recommendation quality. However, existing evaluators predominantly follow the \textbf{Independent Behavior Modeling (IBM)} paradigm, which simplifies the continuous user \emph{browsing journey} into independent per-item predictions (e.g., CTR). This oversimplification ignores two physical realities: (i) a click can occur only after the item has been reached and impressed, and (ii) items compete for finite user attention. As a result, IBM produces systematically biased evaluations and suboptimal sequence selection. To address this, we propose a \textbf{Joint Behavior Modeling (JBM)} perspective that explicitly models the \emph{display} $\rightarrow$ \emph{impression} $\rightarrow$ \emph{click} process to capture causal and competitive dependencies within a sequence. Building on JBM, we develop the \textbf{Impression-Click Evaluator (ICE)}, a plug-and-play framework that (i) predicts a browsing-depth distribution to estimate per-position impression probabilities, (ii) leverages predicted impressions to suppress spurious context from unexposed items during click modeling, and (iii) introduces a click distribution matching objective to capture intra-sequence dependencies. Extensive offline experiments across diverse backbones, together with a 14-day online A/B test in the Taobao App (+0.70\% clicks, +3.67\% revenue) and full-traffic deployment, validate the effectiveness and robustness of our approach.

FindLink: Learning to Assess Scientific Connections from Source-Grounded Premises

原文摘要

Scientific discovery from the literature requires assessing connections among findings obtained under different study conditions. Source attribution makes individual findings traceable, but does not determine what they jointly support. We introduce GI-TraceBench, a benchmark of 10,282 questions in gastrointestinal oncology that unifies provenance question answering, knowledge discovery, and hypothesis evaluation through shared Paper, Claim, and Evidence Span records. We further propose FindLink, a two-stage framework for provenance-grounded scientific reasoning. Premise Grounding constructs source-bound premises with explicit study context and support status. Structured Reasoning organizes these premises into support plans that represent both supported relations and unresolved conditions, then generates evidence-conditioned answers using deterministic compiler feedback. The compiler verifies structural and source-binding consistency, but does not assess scientific entailment. On the 1,545-question fixed-evidence test set, FindLink improves the balanced family macro score from 67.95 to 87.25 over direct supervised fine-tuning of the same backbone. A retrained variant without Structured Reasoning achieves slightly higher premise-identifier F1, but substantially lower relation and evidence-sufficiency F1. These results indicate that scientific reasoning requires not only identifying grounded premises, but also assessing what connections those premises support.

P$^2$-MOPD: Accelerating Multi-Teacher On-Policy Distillation via Parameter Priors

原文摘要

Multi-teacher on-policy distillation consolidates expert capabilities by supervising student-generated trajectories, whereas task arithmetic offers a training-free alternative through linear parameter combinations. We view the linear combination of student and expert parameters as a single differentiable model and propose P$^2$-MOPD, which jointly optimizes the mixing coefficients and the student weights under the same on-policy distillation objective. Unlike task arithmetic, which stays within the span of the frozen student and expert parameters for any choice of merging coefficients, P$^2$-MOPD keeps the student trainable, so the experts act as parameter priors without confining it to this span. Across four domains at 1.7B and 4B scales, P$^2$-MOPD achieves faster and more balanced recovery than MOPD from the same initialization, surpassing its final average recovery in half the training steps. At the end of training, our 1.7B model reaches 94.7% average recovery, versus 80.9% for MOPD.

原文摘要

We present MetricTrail, a streaming system for accurate camera motion estimation and dense reconstruction from long monocular videos. To keep inference efficient over long sequences, we revisit DPVO's sparse local estimator. We find that single-image metric depth substantially improves its trajectory accuracy, without retraining the correspondence network or enlarging the optimization window. Metric predictions initialize patch depths and remain as soft constraints during optimization. We further improve correspondence estimation through learned adapters that augment matching features and recurrent context with frozen DINOv3 representations. The correspondence estimator and adapters are trained on diverse short clips without additional long-sequence training. This modular design also allows the depth provider to be independently upgraded and supports supplied camera intrinsics and calibrated stereo observations without retraining. Under the reported RGB-only protocols, MetricTrail achieves the lowest average trajectory error among evaluated methods on KITTI, Oxford Spires, and VBR. Pairing the estimated poses with single-image depth predictions also produces strong dense reconstruction on indoor and outdoor benchmarks and coherent reconstructions of in-the-wild videos. With supplied intrinsics, the system processes KITTI-02 at 12.70 FPS with 3.21 GB peak GPU memory.

Improving Long-Tail Detection via Layout-Instruction Conditioned Diffusion Synthesis

Xinyu Zhang, Xiaodi Wang, Yanpeng Sun, Lingfeng Yang, Jingdong Wang, Lingqiao Liu

原文摘要

Synthetic data from diffusion models can improve object detection, but long-tail performance is still limited by scarce rare classes and inflexible conditioning (e.g., text-only or layout-only inputs). In this paper, we propose Tail-SD, a layout-instruction conditioned stable diffusion framework that supports text, layouts, or their hybrid, enabling controllable synthesis from boxes, masks, and/or prompts to better cover the long-tail objects. To train a single model across heterogeneous conditions, we introduce a multi-task cross-attention module and multi-task embedding tokens, improving generation quality and diversity. Extensive experiments on COCO and LVIS demonstrate that diffusion synthesis with hybrid conditioning consistently benefits detection, e.g., on LVIS val, it achieves +4.89% / +5.68% rare Box/Mask AP, highlighting strong potential for addressing long-tail challenges.

FlashOffloading: Low-Latency KV Cache Offloading for Long-Context LLM Serving

原文摘要

In large language model (LLM) serving systems, the key-value (KV) cache grows linearly with sequence length and concurrency, so long-context inference easily hits the high-bandwidth memory (HBM) capacity wall and results in low concurrency. Offloading the KV cache to host dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) frees HBM space and raises concurrency, but the additional cache management and host-to-device (H2D) load overhead inflates inference latency, higher concurrency fails to translate into effective throughput. We present FlashOffloading, a host-DRAM-centric inference architecture that fully offloads the KV cache in both the prefill and decode phases. FlashOffloading builds rolling HBM cache for prefill, a hot cache for decode, a reverse sparse index with zero extra miss-lookup overhead, and a compute--load overlapped kernel, optimizing KV offloading latency across the entire pipeline and delivering throughput gains under a time-per-output-token (TPOT) service-level objective (SLO). In experiments deploying GLM-5.2 with multi-token prediction (MTP3) speculative decoding on an Ascend910C prefill--decode (PD)-disaggregated platform, FlashOffloading improves prefill throughput by up to 1.38\(\times\) and decode throughput by up to 1.91\(\times\) under a 30 ms TPOT constraint. FlashOffloading is integrated into an open-source serving framework: https://github.com/vllm-project/vllm-ascend/tree/releases/v0.30.0.

CST-Bench: Benchmarking Counterfactual Spatial Transition Reasoning with Causal Transition On-Policy Self-Distillation

Ying Li, Yongle Cheng, Jing Li, Xingquan Cai, Yawei Luo

原文摘要

Spatial reasoning is a fundamental capability of multimodal large language models (MLLMs), yet existing benchmarks mainly focus on static scene understanding. When objects are moved or swapped, models must infer not only spatial relations but also how interventions change the scene state. To address this problem, we introduce CST-Bench, a benchmark for counterfactual spatial reasoning. CST-Bench contains 7,082 examples covering 6 intervention types and 12 transformation operators, with dense causal annotations including intervention sources, affected relations, expected effects, invariant relations, and metric changes. We benchmark general-purpose MLLMs on CST-Bench and further compare post-training strategies on CST-Bench and standard spatial benchmarks. Results show that methods effective for ordinary spatial reasoning can still fail under counterfactual interventions. We further formulate counterfactual spatial reasoning as causal state-transition modeling and propose CT-OPSD, which uses CST-Bench annotations to guide a teacher model in learning counterfactual state transitions and causal reasoning chains. These chains are then distilled into a student model that reasons only from real observations. Overall, experiment results establish CST-Bench as a challenging benchmark and reusable supervision resource for counterfactual spatial reasoning. CT-OPSD further provides an initial demonstration of how its annotations can support model improvement.

Building age estimation based on widely available multi-source geospatial data

Jialu Sui, Hongsheng Zhang, Rui Liu, Jing Ling, Ruisheng Wang, Hao Wu, Gang Chen

原文摘要

Building age is fundamental for urban infrastructure safety, operation, and planning, as it directly affects structural safety, and sustainable development. Existing methods mostly rely on detailed building information such as street view, function, or materials, which are harder to obtain than geospatial data like satellite imagery and Digital Surface Models (DSMs). However, existing methods based on those geospatial data mainly rely on optical imagery and local texture features, limiting their ability to capture structural information and distinguish buildings from different periods. Moreover, the inherent temporal ordering among building age categories is often overlooked. To address these limitations, we propose the first deep-learning framework for multi-building age estimation using widely available multi-source geospatial data, including remote sensing data and their derived products, as well as building footprint information that estimates age at both pixel and instance levels within a unified pipeline. Specifically, a large pretrained backbone with fine-tuning adapters extracts representative features, and raster-derived and property-derived fusion modules support pixel-wise and instance-wise predictions. Pixel-level estimation employs a pyramid decoder with Cosine-guided Mixture-of-Experts (CMoE) to fuse multi-source raster data across scales, capturing fine-grained building age differences, while instance-level prediction uses attention pooling and Property-Conditional Adaptive Instance Normalization (PCAdaIN) to extract instance-level representations and integrate property attributes. A Temporal Ordinal Constraint Loss (TOCL) enforces the sequential ordering of predicted ages. We also construct a building age benchmark for Hong Kong to enable comprehensive evaluation. The source code and datasets are available at https://github.com/littlebeen/RS-buildingAge.git.
