PDRVLA: A Vision-Language-Action Model with Physical Dynamics Representations

Hanqing Wang, Zhaotian Cai, Ruichuan An, Bohan Zeng, Tao Zhang, Yilin Chen, Xu Jiang, Kaiquan Chen 等 16 位作者

Vision--Language--Action (VLA) models generate robot actions from visual observations and language instructions, but their understanding of physical dynamics remains limited. Video world models can capture scene dynamics, yet generating future videos introduces high latency into the control loop. We introduce PDRVLA, whose lightweight Physical Dynamics Module extracts physical tokens from vision--language features to condition action generation without online video generation. The module learns through direct prediction of future RGB, depth, and optical-flow features, with auxiliary supervision through a frozen pretrained video world model. Training relies entirely on publicly available data, expanded through human-to-robot synthesis, subtask annotation, and embodied chain-of-thought (ECoT) annotation. Across four simulation benchmarks, PDRVLA achieves success rates of 99.3% on LIBERO, 89.9% on LIBERO-Plus, 93.6% on RoboTwin~2.0, and 81.5% on SimplerEnv. Ablations show improved future prediction with world-model supervision and evaluate how subtask conditioning, future object-pose supervision, and ECoT training affect action success.

WorkFactory: Turning Professional Intents into Executable Work for Scalable Agent Training

Ziyang Zeng, Tingyang Chen, Jia Deng, Qiyao Wang, Shuo Tang, Yike Yang, Tao Ren, Wayne Xin Zhao 等 13 位作者

Scaling supervised fine-tuning for working agents requires not only broad coverage of professional tasks, but also expert demonstrations that faithfully carry out professional workflows to completion. However, missing or inconsistent task information can disrupt expert demonstrations, weakening the resulting supervision. We introduce WorkFactory, a scalable task-construction framework that turns professional intents into executable task environments through hybrid intent sourcing, semantic workflow planning, and execution-based repair. Starting from these intents, WorkFactory constructs a Semantic Workflow Graph that explicitly represents information requirements, dependencies, and locations within the task environment. The graph guides the instantiation of task environments, while an adversarial execution-refinement loop exposes missing or inconsistent information and steers targeted repairs that preserve the original intent. Using WorkFactory, we construct 112,686 tasks spanning 612 occupations and train the WorkPilot family at 4B, 27B, and 35B-A3B scales on the resulting teacher trajectories. All three models improve over their respective base models across four professional-work benchmarks, with WorkPilot-35B-A3B rising from 879 to 1565 Elo on GDPval-AA v2.1. Scaling experiments with up to 110k tasks further show that larger models benefit more from additional task data but exhibit diminishing returns at smaller data scales, while WorkPilot's long-horizon execution evolves from verbose trajectories toward more efficient task completion. Controlled component studies quantify the negative effects of task-environment defects on downstream performance and show how semantic workflow planning and execution-based repair yield downstream gains through improved task-environment quality. The subset of data are available at https://github.com/IQuestLab/WorkFactory.

Multiscale Policy Optimization for Long-Horizon LLM Agents

Tao Ren, Hui Yang, Jia Deng, Tingyang Chen, Qiyao Wang, Shuo Tang, Ziyang Zeng, Yuhua Jiang 等 19 位作者

Long-horizon LLM agents interact with their environments through complete assistant turns while generating each action token by token. We observe that critic values vary primarily across turns, motivating optimization anchored at turns with finer credit allocation among tokens. We propose Multiscale Policy Optimization (MPO), combining Multiscale Advantage Estimation (MAE) and turn-level importance sampling to align credit assignment and policy updates at the turn scale. Extensive experiments across search, tool-use, and automation tasks with 4B and 30B-A3B models demonstrate consistent gains over strong RL baselines.

AI 速览:提出潜在3D高斯记忆(L3G)与视频扩散Transformer交替自回归生成,实现实时、长时程空间一致的世界生成。

Interactive world models generate visual content conditioned on user actions, yet maintaining spatial consistency over long-horizon exploration in real time remains challenging. Existing approaches rely on either temporal context or explicit 3D memory, both of which scale poorly because memory grows with the length of the generated stream. Moreover, explicit 3D memories condition latent video generators by re-encoding RGB renderings, which precludes real-time generation. In this paper, we introduce a Latent 3D Gaussian Memory (L3G) that combines the efficiency of feed-forward reconstruction with a compact, rapidly renderable scene representation. Building on this memory, we propose L3G-World, in which a memory updater and a video diffusion transformer (DiT) alternate autoregressively to generate spatially consistent worlds. The memory updater spawns Gaussians in newly observed regions and refines existing ones, so that the memory grows with scene extent rather than stream length. Each Gaussian further stores a VAE latent feature, allowing the memory to be rendered directly into the DiT's latent space without VAE re-encoding. Experiments show that L3G-World achieves state-of-the-art generation quality and long-horizon spatial consistency, with up to $38.6\times$ fewer 3D primitives, $3.2\times$ faster memory updates, and $359\times$ faster memory rendering relative to the most efficient prior 3D-memory baseline for each metric, enabling real-time world generation at 9 FPS.

AI 速览:HairDeck 将风格化发型视为无序的发片集合,用集合扩散 Transformer 从单张图像一次性生成发片及其弹簧骨骼链,得到可直接导出的可动画资产。

The hair of stylized characters in games and avatars is built from hair cards: artist-placed ribbons whose geometry is the visible hair, animated by spring bones. Existing image-based methods produce realistic hair or a single fused mesh, while CHARM, the only generator of stylized hair cards, decodes a hairstyle autoregressively as a long sequence of control points. Observing that a card hairstyle is an unordered set of artist-defined primitives, we propose HairDeck, which generates it as one: each card is a single token, and a set diffusion transformer denoises all cards together. From a single image, HairDeck generates the cards and the spring-bone chains that drive them, yielding an animatable asset that exports to ready-to-use downstream formats. On CHARM's own test set, it lowers Chamfer distance by 44% and card-orientation error by more than half while running 33 times faster, and from single images it outperforms CHARM, image-to-3D pipelines and strand-based methods. Glance:生成器自身即重排序器

Glance: The Generator Is Its Own Reranker

AI 速览:让同一个常驻的9B生成器通过轻量决策适配器和指针头,在共享预填充上为候选段落打分并完成重排序,从而省去独立的重排序模型。

Retrieval-augmented generation commonly serves separate models for reranking and answering, duplicating model residency and passage processing. We introduce Glance, which equips the generator with a lightweight decision adapter and pointer head to score candidate passages from a shared prefill. Short relevance probes branch from the cached context, producing one score per passage without separately prefilling each query-passage pair. A single resident 9B backbone supports generation, general decisions and reranking, with approximately 0.1 GiB of additional memory per decision skill. After 39 minutes of MS MARCO fine-tuning, Glance achieves nDCG@10 of 0.741 on SciFact and 0.345 on NFCorpus, compared with 0.721 and 0.326 for bge-reranker-v2-m3. On 300 HotpotQA questions, its selected context improves answer F1 by 0.045 over cross-encoder-selected context under the same base generator (paired bootstrap 95% CI [0.014, 0.076]). In a scaling study, reranking quality keeps rising up to 200 candidates (43k tokens) scored from one shared prefill, where it exceeds the cross-encoder by 0.058 nDCG@10, and a probe-only activated adapter lets generation continue from the original passage cache. These initial results demonstrate generator-based reranking with one resident backbone; evaluation currently covers two retrieval datasets, one QA dataset and one backbone family.

你的学习率调度可能并不有原则:权重归一化训练中的有效学习率调度

Your LR Schedule May Not Be Principled: Effective Learning Rate Scheduling in Weight-Normalized Training

Qifan Yu, Xinyu Ma, Xingyan Bin, Di He

AI 速览:论文指出权重归一化训练的收益主要来自有效学习率轨迹而非归一化本身,并提出以有效学习率为调度对象的 AIR 调度。

Weight-normalized (WN) training is emerging as a compelling alternative to conventional weight decay (WD), with recent studies reporting substantial pretraining loss gains. We show that these gains are driven primarily by the induced effective learning rate (ELR) trajectory rather than by normalization alone. Matching ELR trajectories largely collapses the training loss dynamics of WN and WD. Schedule design should therefore target ELR rather than the nominal learning rate (LR) alone. Building on this principle, we propose AIR (Affine Inverse-square-Root decay), which combines a theoretically derived $1/\sqrt{t}$ decay with an affine adjustment to satisfy prescribed peak and terminal LRs over a finite training horizon. We further identify late-stage ELR scheduling as a key source of its gains, because a shared late schedule attenuates the effect of earlier LR choices. Experiments on 128 B-token Mixture-of-Experts pretraining demonstrate that AIR outperforms cosine and other candidate schedules in training loss, downstream performance, and hyperparameter robustness, reducing terminal training loss by approximately 0.01 relative to cosine at matched cumulative LR. Applying the same ELR trajectory to WD reproduces the corresponding training dynamics, showing that the benefits extend beyond fixed-norm training and establishing ELR as the principled scheduling object.

AB-Attention: Accurate Block Attention for Accelerating Video Diffusion Transformers

Bin Xu, Mo Zhang, Zhengfeiyang Zhang, Xinfeng Yang, Yixing Ma, Wei Wang, HeXin Wang, Pengfei Zhou 等 9 位作者

Video diffusion transformers generate high-quality videos, but the quadratic cost of 3D full attention dominates their inference. Dynamic block-sparse attention reduces this cost by computing exact attention only on key/value blocks selected from current activations. However, its fidelity degrades under aggressive sparsity: blocks are scored from coarse summaries or formed by costly global clustering, pruned blocks vanish from the softmax, and whole tiles are kept or dropped even when only a few of their keys matter. To address these limitations, we propose Accurate Block Attention (AB-Attention), a training-free method that accurately approximates dense attention at high sparsity. Its Intra-Block Clustering Selector (IBCS) estimates block importance faithfully yet cheaply by clustering queries only within each query block, without permuting tokens. Sampling with Inclusion-Probability Weighting (SIP) then samples blocks in proportion to these estimates and reweights them by inverse inclusion probability, so that one pass estimates dense attention rather than truncating it. Finally, its kernel gathers key/value blocks much smaller than a tile into full tensor-core tiles, refining selection at no extra tensor-core cost. On Wan2.1 and HunyuanVideo, AB-Attention skips 89--92\% of attention, whereas the baselines compute 1.8--3.6$\times$ as much, yet it still improves PSNR by up to 4.4~dB over the strongest baseline and achieves up to 2.23$\times$ end-to-end speedup. Our code is available at https://github.com/InfRec-Cardinal/AB-Attention.

Intrinsic Distribution Matching

Deyuan Liu, Yansen Han, Kaiwen Zheng, Jun Xie, Jiacheng Liu, Zhenglin Cheng, Peng Sun, Jintao Zhang 等 10 位作者

One-step and few-step text-to-image generation must accurately render the details specified in the prompt despite limited opportunities for refinement. Distribution matching distillation (DMD) uses score differences to bring the generated distribution closer to a reference distribution. Following prior work, we estimate this difference with internal velocity branches, avoiding a separate fake-score network. We ask whether an explicit moment constraint improves this learned score supervision. A decomposition of the reverse-KL field into a Gaussian moment component and a non-Gaussian residual identifies statistics that can be constrained explicitly. We introduce Intrinsic Distribution Matching (IDM), which retains the full DMD correction and matches feature means and per-coordinate standard deviations using the generator's exponential-moving-average (EMA) copy, requiring no external feature encoder. Experiments use full-parameter and low-rank adaptation (LoRA) tuning on Z-Image-Turbo 6B and Qwen-Image 20B. At two network evaluations, IDM reaches 94.25% and 90.20% on Chinese and English LongText-Bench, the highest scores among the compared methods at this budget. Controlled ablations show gains from the added moment loss, while generator EMA features perform competitively with an external DINOv2 encoder across the five reported metrics. Code is available at https://github.com/inclusionAI/IDM.

FDSML: Formula-Driven Supervised Metric Learning with Parameter-Aware Triplet Loss

Hina Otake, Shinei Arakawa, Keitaro Tanaka, Yoshihiro Fukuhara, Hirokatsu Kataoka, Shigeo Morishima

Formula-Driven Supervised Learning (FDSL) enables vision pre-training without real images, but existing methods cast pre-training as classification on discretized labels, discarding continuity in the generative process. We propose Formula-Driven Supervised Metric Learning (FDSML), which derives relational supervision from image-generation parameters beyond discrete class labels. FDSML combines FineFractalDB, our refined fractal dataset with higher intra-class variation and more stable structures, with a Parameter-Aware Triplet (PA-Triplet) Loss that assigns positives and negatives according to distances in the underlying Iterated Function System parameter space. This objective trains embeddings to respect parameter-derived relative similarity orderings. Experiments show that FDSML improves transferability to image retrieval while remaining competitive on downstream classification and improving robustness under several corruption settings. On ResNet-50, Recall@1 improves from 65.6% to 74.0% on Stanford Online Products and from 56.2% to 78.4% on Stanford Cars over FDSL pre-training. These results suggest that parameter-derived relational supervision provides a stronger synthetic pre-training signal than label-based classification for transfer beyond recognition.

OpenEBFM: Energy-based Foundation Models Are Scalable Architecture

Yuan Pu, Yudong Lu, Ting Wang, Zhicong Hong, Qinuo Li, Xuansheng Wu, Na Zou, Xia Hu 等 9 位作者

Energy-based models have shown promising properties for domain-specific tasks but remain challenging in modeling general-purpose scenarios. To bridge this gap, we design energy-steered models (ESMs) for foundational language modeling. ESMs integrate energy steering and token generation within a single architecture to leverage the energy-guided search to refine token generation. Specifically, ESMs first optimize a latent state over the energy landscape, then leverages the refined latent state for token generation. By performing such energy-guided pre-training on large-scale corpora, ESMs learn generally effective energy landscape where favorable tokens correspond to lower energy values. To explore the scaling behavior of ESMs, we pre-train ESMs on three large-scale corpora, then evaluate across 26 downstream tasks spanning a broad range of domains. Our results demonstrate that ESMs have promising scaling behaviors with increasing model size and training data, and outperform GPTs on most downstream tasks. These findings highlight ESMs as a promising architecture for large-scale pre-training and general purpose problem solving. We fully release the model weights and training infrastructure to enable the community to completely reproduce and extend our results. Proving and Improving the Platonic Representation Hypothesis with JEPAs

Randall Balestriero, Yann LeCun

Whether models trained on different modalities converge to the same representation of the world is central to AI. The Platonic Representation Hypothesis (PRH) conjectures that they do as they scale, but without a proof it offers neither a guarantee nor a recipe. We turn the hypothesis into a theorem. First, we prove a \emph{Platonic Representation Theorem}: Joint-Embedding Predictive Architectures (JEPAs) trained separately on any number of modalities learn the same representation up to one rotation whenever their positive pairs are two observations of one scene--\emph{good views}--and their misalignment is bounded otherwise. Second, we show that next-token prediction is a JEPA with \emph{bad views}, parts of a single document, which explains why language models align with vision only through scale. Third, we validate the theory from 145k captions to the texts of 940M web images, and uncover a scaling law of alignment that predicts unseen runs within seed noise. Good views need 42 times fewer training samples than next-token prediction on the same corpus to reach the same alignment, and a 109M-parameter text JEPA aligns with DINOv2 and CLIP's image encoders better than every language model we evaluated, up to 72B parameters, and than CLIP's text encoder: next-token prediction is a remarkably inefficient route to platonic representations. As a showcase, one rotation turns separately trained encoders into an image captioner (CIDEr .838 on COCO). Even that rotation needs no pair: on the latest pair-free benchmark, our text JEPA beats every zero-shot accuracy reported with language models up to 8B parameters, e.g., 64\% against at most 56\% top-5 on ImageNet-100. Positive views, and not scale alone, are thus the lever to build platonic representations.

OpenFlyV2: An onboard vision-language-action model for aerial perception and navigation

Junli Liu, Zhongrui You, Chenhui Li, Zhen Li, Yuyang Tian, Qizhen Chen, Delin Qu, Haoming Song 等 12 位作者

Human cognition flexibly draws on a shared perceptual foundation to understand environments, attend to referenced entities, reason about spatial relationships, and act. Endowing aerial robots with an analogous functional organization remains challenging, as existing systems are often specialized for individual capabilities, dependent on offboard computation, or unable to sustain closed-loop operation on resource-constrained platforms. We present OpenFlyV2, a unified onboard vision-language-action architecture that uses a shared vision-language representation to support semantic understanding, language-grounded perception, spatial reasoning, and continuous aerial control within a single model. A compact action expert converts the shared multimodal context into short-horizon flight waypoints, while motion-aware temporal memory and action priors reduce the computational cost of closed-loop execution. We construct \dataset{}, a simulation-based dataset comprising approximately 70,000 navigation trajectories and 60,000 vision-language instruction--response pairs. OpenFlyV2 generates action chunks, each comprising 12 waypoints, entirely onboard at 10 Hz using an NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX. It transfers zero-shot from simulation to physical quadrotor flight, achieving a 48\% navigation success rate across four real-world environments without real-world aerial training data. Extensive results demonstrate that broad vision-language competence and continuous closed-loop flight can coexist within a single model on a resource-constrained aerial platform. Code will be made publicly available at https://github.com/Ideal-ljl/AeroBrain.

Online Dense Reinforcement Learning with Planning-Grounding Agent for UI Navigation on Live IOS Apps

Peitong Duan, Khashayar Gatmiry, Jeffrey Nichols, Samy Bengio, Emmanuel Abbe

While frontier vision-language models demonstrate strong capabilities in user interface (UI) navigation, their high inference costs prohibit everyday use. Conversely, smaller models trained via supervised fine-tuning (SFT) or offline reinforcement learning often memorize static trajectories, leading to brittle execution and an inability to recover from errors. To address these limitations, we propose a novel online reinforcement learning framework that trains UI navigation agents directly on live iOS applications. Our framework decouples the agent into two specialized components: a Planning agent and a UI Grounding model. We rely on an LLM-as-a-Judge to provide comprehensive reward signals, combining dense, step-level feedback to evaluate intermediate progress with a terminal reward for overall task completion. To effectively leverage this dual reward structure, we optimize the agent using Proximal Policy Optimization (PPO) with step-level advantage estimation. Furthermore, we introduce GiGPPO, a novel neighbor-conditioned value estimation method that improves critic stability by leveraging reward signals from visually similar states across concurrent trajectories. To support this online training paradigm at scale, we introduce an efficient infrastructure that orchestrates hundreds of concurrent virtual iOS devices. Evaluations on rigorous benchmarks, including UINavBench, iOSWorld, and AndroidWorld, demonstrate that our online RL trained agents substantially outperform both SFT and terminal-only RL baselines while accelerating training convergence. Notably, our 8B RL agents achieve nearly a sevenfold improvement over the SFT baseline in out-of-distribution generalization to Android environments, while outperforming Gemini-3.5-Flash and tying with Gemini-3.1-Pro on real iOS applications.

Broken on Arrival: Non-Functional Quantized LLM Artifacts in Public Model Registries and How to Catch Them

Aditi Patodiya

Developers download quantized large language models (LLMs) from public registries to run them locally. None of the registries we examined documented functional testing of their files. We tested all 305 eligible code-capable GGUF tags (the llama.cpp format) across 15 model lines in the official Ollama library, plus 22 popular Hugging Face community files. A 15-task code screen identified suspects, which we retested on all 164 HumanEval+ tasks. Seven official tags (2.3%) solved at most six of them. All were low-bit quantizations of models with at most four billion parameters. We rebuilt five suspect files from the original weights. All five registry files matched our uncalibrated rebuilds tensor for tensor, so none was corrupted. Exact reproducibility did not imply function. With the weights, toolchain and tensor mix held fixed, adding an importance matrix raised Qwen2.5-Coder-3B scores at three quantization levels from zero to 76-113 of 164 tasks. The same uncalibrated recipe left the smaller Qwen2.5-Coder-1.5B functional, showing that the recipe alone does not predict failure. None of 66 sampled tags that passed the screen was non-functional. We release the audit data and the quantcheck tool and recommend screening low-bit tags before publication, then calibrating or withholding failures.

AskStream: When and What to Ask Proactively under Uncertainty in Streaming Video Understanding

Lu Wang, Zhuoran Jin, Longxiang Wang, Junhong Chen, Yupu Hao, Yao Xu, Daojian Zeng, Yubo Chen 等 11 位作者

Recent advances in multimodal large language models have increased interest in interaction paradigms for video understanding. The evolution from offline to streaming and proactive interaction has gradually shifted models from passive responders toward more proactive agents that can decide when to answer. However, existing proactive paradigms typically assume that the information required to answer a query is complete, leaving models to only wait or answer. In the real world, however, information is often incomplete due to uncertainty from either the video or the user. In proactive paradigms, such uncertainty can cause the model to wait forever or generate highly hallucinatory responses. We therefore argue that proactive interaction should be redefined with a third action: ask, allowing models to actively ask for missing information. To study when and what models should ask before answering, we introduce AskStream, the first multi-turn benchmark spanning video and user uncertainty for streaming video understanding, with four task categories and eight subtasks. It contains 438 videos with 2,714 manually annotated frame-level time windows across three types: wait, ask, and answer. Across both multiple-choice and open-ended settings, even the strongest model attains only 52.18% on our proposed Ask-F1 metric, highlighting substantial limitations in proactive information seeking under uncertainty.

A-RSI: Adaptive Task Refresh for Zero-Data Multimodal Self-Improvement

Yu Liu, Youxing Li, Yuedong Tan, Zhiwei Yang, Zihan Su, Hanqi Feng, Shaojie Zhang, Libin Liao 等 20 位作者

Recursive self-improvement requires models not only to acquire useful training experience, but also to decide when their current experience has ceased to be useful. Existing methods often focus on what experience to generate next, while paying less attention to when fresh experience should be introduced. Many also construct training targets through self-consistency or majority voting, making supervision depend on the model's own uncertain predictions. We address these two questions separately: training dynamics determine when to acquire new experience, while the answers to new tasks remain independently checkable. A-RSI monitors reward variation and accuracy in training logs to refresh a task pool when its learning signal declines, without consulting validation or test scores. A static library of model-authored programs produces multimodal questions and derives their reference answers; we specify the task-generation contract, automatically verify chosen properties of the reward and refresh rules, and separately audit the generated answers. The training loop uses no external training examples or human-written answer labels. On the primary eleven-benchmark suite, A-RSI raises the performance average from 57.77 to 61.05 with 800 fresh tasks.

IntReal: A Real-World Dataset and Benchmark for Multimodal Interleaved Generation

Shaohan Yu, Jie Qin, Wende Tan, Haiwen Diao, Limeng Qiao, Yueming Lyu, Chenyang Si

Humans routinely consume multimodal content, where textual and visual information is naturally interleaved. Although Unified Multimodal Models (UMMs) can jointly generate text and images, multimodal interleaved generation remains largely underexplored. Progress in this area is hindered by two key limitations: (1) the lack of well-defined interleaved generation tasks and corresponding training data, and (2) the absence of fine-grained evaluation protocols that can reliably diagnose model performance across different capability dimensions. To this end, we present IntReal, comprising two complementary components: IntReal-100K, a real-world dataset of multimodal interleaved samples spanning four major categories, and the IntReal Evaluation Suite, which evaluates model performance across seven complementary dimensions using specialized expert models, enabling coarse-to-fine diagnosis. Extensive experiments validate our evaluation suite through low inter-metric redundancy (max pairwise absolute Spearman's $ρ\leq 0.42$ ), high agreement with human judgments (83.3% accuracy), and strong consistency across different expert evaluators (Spearman's $ρ> 0.9$ ), supporting the complementarity and reliability of our metrics. By benchmarking four families of UMMs, we show that IntReal Evaluation Suite reveals distinct strengths and weaknesses across models. Post-training experiments demonstrate the utility of IntReal-100K for improving interleaved generation and further show that training unimodal generation can also benefit interleaved generation. These findings suggest that interleaved generation can benefit from modality-specific optimization, rather than requiring joint text-image training at every stage.

WeVisCut: The Whole Editing Room in One Agent From Narration to Long-Form Video

Chenyu Mu, Wenming Weng, Qinrui Wang, Xingsong Ye, Hao Yu, Jun He, Chong Sun, Chen Li 等 11 位作者

Producing long-form videos from narration requires interdependent decisions that remain coherent across shots. Existing agentic editors often use multi-stage workflows driven by general models, leaving the quality-cost trade-off of compact, task-adapted policies unclear. We address this gap with WeVisCut, a long-form script-to-video system that connects tool execution with policy learning. Its agent harness maintains shared production state so that tool feedback informs subsequent decisions and repairs. Because finished videos do not expose these decisions, our four-stage data pipeline combines editing inversion with verified replay to turn recovered editing intent into executable supervision. Applied to 3,750 finished videos, this pipeline yields over 130K training examples. We use this supervision to train a single 9B policy that coordinates production and recovers from failures within the same harness. Moreover, we introduce a 100-task benchmark and five metrics assessing editing quality and delivery reliability. Under a shared tool environment, WeVisCut substantially outperforms its base model and achieves comparable performance to Claude Opus 5 while using nearly 33x fewer generated tokens per successful output minute. It also outperforms task-matched native editors on our proposed metrics.

Financial agents must form forecasts and investment judgments from decision-time evidence, with predictions evaluated against subsequent outcomes. Existing benchmarks assess financial knowledge, research workflows, or forecasting, but evaluating the full research process requires a strictly frozen information set and professional evaluation criteria. We introduce Investor's Last Exam (ILE), an equity-research benchmark led by experienced buy-side investors and fund managers. Its three components are a versioned financial database spanning 3.43 million document versions and nine source categories, supplemented by structured market data, with validated timestamps governing retrieval and computation; a task taxonomy organized around professional analyst deliverables; and an expert-led framework linking scoring criteria to sources, calculations, and assumptions through financial dependency graphs. Evaluation spans 86 assignments and jointly assesses research quality, forecast accuracy, and simulated investment performance. GPT-6 Astra and Claude Opus 5.5 lead overall at 68.1 and 66.9 out of 100, yet even Astra scores only 52.5 on Forecast & Model. Our results show that even state-of-the-art models fail to translate overall research capability into predictive performance. ILE shifts the evaluation unit from isolated capabilities to the evidence--assumption--judgment chain, allowing researchers to locate where analytical advantages fail to translate into forecasts and investment judgments, and providing a traceable, diagnostic foundation for training and evaluating financial agents.

Multi-Token Prediction Done Right

Jayden Teoh

Multi-Token Prediction (MTP) is now a common ingredient in language-model pre-training, as it improves downstream performance and enables faster inference through speculative decoding. We identify a flaw in standard MTP training, in which a residual component of the MTP gradient interferes with both next-token and multi-token learning, increasingly so with scale. Specifically, the MTP cross-entropy gradient can be decomposed exactly into a KL self-distillation term that pulls each MTP head toward the model's own next-token prediction (NTP) distribution and improves speculative decoding, and a residual that has a low signal-to-noise ratio and buries the useful KL signal. We introduce the KL gradient-recovery trick: when two distributions share a linear output head, the gradient of their KL divergence can be recovered exactly by combining their cross-entropy gradients through straight-through gradient routing. Unlike minimizing the KL directly, this trick requires no vocabulary-sized logit matrices and is compatible with standard fused cross-entropy kernels. This enables Soft Multi-Token Prediction (Soft-MTP), a one-line code change to MTP that removes the noisy residual and backpropagates only the KL self-distillation signal by reusing the existing NTP and MTP cross-entropy computations. Soft-MTP supports both DeepSeek- and Meta-style MTP, adds no parameters, and incurs no measurable overhead. From 167M to 1.2B parameters, Soft-MTP improves over standard MTP with lower NTP perplexity, faster speculative decoding and higher zero-shot accuracy at every scale, lower MTP perplexity from 689M onward, and stronger math and code reasoning after fine-tuning at 1.2B. Soft-MTP also matches, if not exceeds, direct KL divergence minimization on most metrics. Soft-MTP is, in effect, a free lunch for MTP optimization. Our code can be found at https://github.com/JaydenTeoh/Soft-MTP.

Your Policy Is Secretly a Harness: The Decision Geometry of Agent Interfaces

Jian Mu, Ruibo Shen, Yao Shu

Language model agents are post-trained and deployed through a harness, the prompts, tools, and control logic that present a task to the model and execute its outputs. Harnesses are often revised and judged by how an already trained model performs under them, which assumes that what the model learned under one harness carries over to the next. We ask what a policy learns from its harness and what survives when the harness changes. Under KL-regularized control, we show that the log odds of an optimal policy recover how strongly its harness favors each action over the others, so a trained policy carries the preferences of its harness. Deployed return then equals the ceiling of the harness, the best return it offers, minus the mismatch of the policy, the return lost to its own suboptimal decisions. Training changes only the mismatch, while changing the harness moves both terms. Comparing harnesses with a fixed model therefore mixes what each harness offers with how well that model uses it. In MiniWoB++, post-training makes a model's preferences specific to its training harness. Reversing the order of the observation fields leaves every optimal decision unchanged yet lowers a trained model's success from 85.0% to 19.2%. Conversely, every new harness that a fixed-model comparison rejects but that raises the ceiling outperforms the original agent after further training under it, and ceiling and mismatch measured beforehand predict these gains. For coding-agent harnesses on Terminal-Bench Lite, ceiling minus mismatch estimated with a stronger model as a stand-in for the optimum reproduces the accuracy ranking, while either term alone does not. Code is available at https://github.com/2020-qqtcg/HRP.

EPSBench: Benchmarking LLM Agents for Earnings Forecasting

Yanbin Yin, Chuyu Xu, Liqin Ye, Jing Peng, Chao Zhang

Quarterly earnings forecasting requires an agent to connect financial evidence to the income-statement line items that produce a company's reported earnings. We introduce EPSBench, a benchmark for studying this ability across 149 firm-quarters from 86 US companies. Agents read a fixed collection of filings, earnings-call transcripts, and news, then estimate company-specific income-statement drivers with cited evidence. A shared accounting calculator converts these estimates into GAAP diluted earnings per share (EPS), providing a common basis for comparing forecast assumptions. We evaluate six models under a common harness, assessing point forecast error relative to date-matched analyst consensus and checking whether their prediction intervals achieve the stated coverage. Three models show no detectable paired difference in point forecast error from consensus, and three have higher error. Across all six models, nominal 80% intervals contain reported EPS in only 37--70% of runs that return an interval, and most misses fall above the upper bound because the forecasts run low. The driver records trace most of the error gap between models to operating-income estimates.

We present EasyProver, a Lean proving system built from recursive agents with isolated contexts, asynchronous search, parallel tactic probing, and an elastic elaboration service. Using an off-the-shelf frontier model with no additional training, it proves 669/672 PutnamBench problems and all six IMO 2026 formalizations and resolves 597/600 NTP4VC verification conditions and all 189 VERINA tasks by proof or refutation. Because these benchmarks are close to saturation, we also introduce Aegis, which converts competitive programming problems into much harder verification tasks over real implementations. The pipeline writes safe Rust solutions, translates them into Lean with Aeneas, generates specifications, and labels each frozen statement with a kernel-checked proof or refutation. It produces 2,045 differentially validated Rust-Lean program pairs and 11,533 candidate specifications. Unlike hand-written benchmarks, these tasks carry implementation-level obligations from fixed-width arithmetic, explicit failure, generated loops, casts, and functionalized mutation. On a stratified sample of 2,000 statements, EasyProver proves 1,054 (52.7%) within a 30-minute budget per statement. The same tasks can also be used to benchmark other provers and as rewards for reinforcement learning.

WebAnything: From the Wild Web to Scalable Agent Environments

Tianci Xie, Zikun Cai, Chaoyun Zhang, Pinxue Guo, Bingxuan Li, Rui Zheng, Hang Yan

Web agents require diverse, executable, and resettable website environments for reproducible training and evaluation. Human-assisted mirrors demand per-site engineering, while generative construction can diverge from specified real websites. Capture-and-replay preserves observations, with interaction coverage constrained by captured content and replay capabilities. We present WebAnything, a fully automated framework that reconstructs source-grounded, reusable Web environments from real URLs without per-site manual implementation or repair after initial setup and authorization. An Explorer-Builder collects browser-observable structures, resources, and interaction outcomes; an independent verifier checks frozen candidates and guides local repair or targeted source recapture. We construct 244 website artifacts across 14 application domains and 53 categories, supporting 12,984 executed and accepted tasks. Compared with human-assisted WebHarbor, WebAnything achieves higher aggregate scores on three fidelity metrics, with 12 wins, two ties, and no losses in a blind audit. Fine-tuning Qwen3.5-9B on 5,856 interaction trajectories improves REAL success by 9.9 percentage points, Odysseys-Easy Rubric Avg and Task Avg by 6.25 and 6.32 percentage points, and WebArena-Verified Overall success by 13.33 percentage points under the fixed harness. 离散视觉Token能否作为视觉信号的语义无损表示?

Can Discrete Tokens Serve as Semantically Lossless Representations of Visual Signals?

AI 速览:作者重新审视量化误差导致语义损失的假设,提出有效比特预算才是关键,并引入因子化向量量化(FVQ)使离散表示在多模态理解上媲美连续表示。

Discrete visual tokens represent vision in a discrete form analogous to language, offering a native interface for multimodal modeling under a shared next-token prediction objective. However, quantization error is widely assumed to cause unavoidable semantic loss, fundamentally limiting the semantic fidelity of discrete visual tokens and positioning continuous visual representations as an intrinsic upper bound. Using multimodal understanding as a proxy for semantic fidelity, we revisit this assumption and find quantization error unreliable, as discrete representations with substantially larger errors can achieve better understanding. Instead, the effective bit budget of discrete indices emerges as a key determinant of downstream performance. However, existing quantizers eventually saturate as additional codebooks contribute progressively less semantic information. As one approach to alleviating this saturation, we introduce Factorized Vector Quantization, which quantizes complementary, fixed-dimensional views of the visual feature with symmetric parallel codebooks. It continues to improve at larger bit budgets, ultimately matching continuous visual representations in multimodal understanding. Trained on industrial-scale multimodal data, our model achieves state-of-the-art performance among discrete-representation models, outperforming UniAR and Emu3-Chat by 22.8% and 59.2%, respectively, on a nine-metric average. To our knowledge, it is also the first discrete-representation model competitive with strong continuous-representation models such as Qwen3-VL, including on fine-grained OCR tasks. We further identify the key principles and a practical recipe enabling this competitiveness. These results and insights support the potential of discrete visual representations to underpin large-scale native multimodal foundation models. Can LLMs Uncover Hidden Physical Laws through Free Exploration?

Zhen Yang, Wen Wang, Xander Xu, Ying-Cong Chen

Scientific discovery often begins with an unexpected observation that prompts a new research question. In a world with altered physical laws, can large language models (LLMs) notice unexpected behavior, such as heavier objects falling more slowly, and discover the law through experiments without being told what to investigate? To evaluate this ability, we introduce LongChang, an automated framework that creates simulated worlds with altered physics, where one or more laws differ from ordinary physics. The evaluated LLMs act as explorers, manipulating objects and building tools to investigate their own questions without research tasks or hints about these laws. Separate LLM agents generate and review scenes, review tool designs, and evaluate reports for correctness and experimental support using the altered physical laws and exploration records. These records guide scene evolution for further exploration, allowing the full cycle to run without human intervention. Among 12 LLMs, GPT-6-Astra achieves a discovery rate of 16.7%, while the other 11 score 0%. The exploration records reveal uninvestigated anomalies and only partial identification of the altered physical laws.

Quaternion Approximate Networks for Enhanced Image Classification and Oriented Object Detection

Bryce Grant, Peng Wang

This paper introduces Quaternion Approximate Networks (QUAN), a novel deep learning framework that leverages quaternion algebra for rotation equivariant image classification and object detection. Unlike conventional quaternion neural networks attempting to operate entirely in the quaternion domain, QUAN approximates quaternion convolution through Hamilton product decomposition using real-valued operations. This approach preserves geometric properties while enabling efficient implementation with custom CUDA kernels. We introduce Independent Quaternion Batch Normalization (IQBN) for training stability and extend quaternion operations to spatial attention mechanisms. QUAN is evaluated on image classification (CIFAR-10/100, ImageNet), object detection (COCO, DOTA), and robotic perception tasks. In classification tasks, QUAN achieves higher accuracy with fewer parameters and faster convergence compared to existing convolution and quaternion-based models. For objection detection, QUAN demonstrates improved parameter efficiency and rotation handling over standard Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) while establishing the SOTA for quaternion CNNs in this downstream task. These results highlight its potential for deployment in resource-constrained robotic systems requiring rotation-aware perception and application in other domains. Know, then Draw: A New Learning Paradigm for Visual Generation

Yucheng Mao, Chongjian Ge, Zhuowen Tu, Hao Tan, Hanwen Jiang

Visual generation requires both high-level semantic knowledge and fine-grained pixel details. We propose a learning paradigm that assigns these roles to autoregressive pretraining for knowledge acquisition and diffusion post-training for high-fidelity rendering. Within this framework, we study the objective, representation, and scaling of knowledge acquisition and rendering. Controlled comparisons identify autoregression as the stronger pretraining objective for downstream rendering, improving both learning efficiency and final generation quality. We further find that AR-only generation quality does not necessarily correlate with final performance; semantic quality matters more. This motivates a purely semantic tokenizer trained with language supervision alone, without an image decoder or reconstruction loss. We establish compute-optimal scaling laws for knowledge acquisition and rendering, and find that autoregressive pretraining lowers the fitted asymptotic rendering loss compared with pixel diffusion models trained from scratch. Guided by the laws, we train a 3B-parameter text-to-image model with only 6,600 H100 GPU-hours, achieving 86 on GenEval and 87 on DPG-Bench and validating the proposed paradigm at scale.

Rare, Relevant, and Still Wrong: How Memory Fails LLM Group Decisions

Anouar Imel, Imad Charradi, Abderrahman Sghir, Khalil El Khammar

When an LLM group's discussion is compressed into a short memory for a final decision maker, what should the memory keep? Two natural heuristics keep the rarest claims or the claims relevant to the decision criteria. On hidden-profile tasks both look attractive, because how widely a fact is held is confounded with whether it helps. We introduce CrossProfile, a diagnostic benchmark of 60 templates with automatically verified answer keys, in which the ownership of supporting, decoy, and irrelevant facts is crossed while their text is held fixed (480 tasks). Across Qwen2.5-7B, Llama-3.1-8B, and two DeepSeek models, both heuristics fail in predictable places. Selecting by relevance readmits decoys, because decoys are on topic: even a perfect relevance filter loses 23 to 31 points to rarest-first selection in the classic hidden-profile configuration. Rarest-first selection is no better than random selection on average and wins only where the rare facts happen to be the useful ones. In both cases accuracy follows the balance of evidence the memory keeps, not the policy that kept it. The decision model adds a third failure, a form of social proof: it gives extra weight to facts attributed to many agents. Removing the attribution tags, or reassigning them at random with line order fixed, raises accuracy in the classic configuration by 13 to 24 points. In natural discussions the evidence is lost before any memory acts: the complete transcript yields lower accuracy than no notes at all.
