Decoupled Safety Control: A Safety-Control Algorithm for Training-Free Safety Guidance

Huilin Zhou, Ruoxi Cheng, Yuhang Wang, Yuming Liu, Minghao Sun, Ruolong Ma, Lan Zhang

原文摘要

Diffusion models achieve strong performance in text-to-image generation, but they can still produce unsafe content. Training-free safety guidance offers a practical inference-time alternative that intervenes during sampling without modifying model weights. However, many existing safeguards still rely on a coupled safety-control chain. In this chain, the same unsafe condition simultaneously specifies what should be avoided, indicates the current unsafe signal, constructs the intervention, and determines when that intervention remains active. This coupling can work when unsafe factors are explicit, but becomes less reliable once harmful and benign semantics are entangled in the current generation state, often leaving residual unsafe content or unnecessarily degrading benign-generation quality or prompt fidelity. We address this problem with Decoupled Safety Control (DSC), a plug-in safety-control algorithm for training-free safety guidance. DSC reformulates training-free safety guidance as an explicit state-dependent control process, so the executed intervention is determined from the current generation state rather than inherited directly from a single unsafe condition. Experiments on standard safety benchmarks show that DSC improves representative latent- and text-space safeguards, achieving stronger unsafe-content suppression while preserving benign-generation quality and maintaining efficient inference.

DIP-CAD: A Design-Intent-Preserving Agent Harness for Parametric CAD Modeling

Xi Cheng, Chenxi Zhai, Hang Cheng, Mingyu Fan, Pingfa Feng, Long Zeng

原文摘要

Parametric CAD modeling requires not only matching the target shape, but also preserving design intent under parameter edits. However, most existing methods focus on improving static shape generation accuracy, while the dependencies that govern later edits are often overlooked. To tackle this issue, we present DIP-CAD, a design-intent-preserving agent harness for generating parametric CAD models from images. DIP-CAD combines vision-language model reasoning with CAD kernel operations to establish dependencies that encode the design intent. In parametric CAD, these dependencies are mainly established through geometry references in modeling commands and constraints in parametric sketches. At the command level, ID-based explicit geometry reference binds modeling commands to selected faces, edges, or vertices. At the sketch level, a local-coordinate bridge ensures accurate sketch placement, providing the basis for correctly establishing sketch constraints. Constraints among sketch primitives and constraints to external projected geometry further preserve both internal sketch relationships and dependencies on existing geometry. To provide a more comprehensive data foundation for parametric CAD modeling tasks, we introduce the Geometry Explicit Reference Dataset (GERD), whose structured data format links stepwise modeling commands to intermediate CAD models through explicit geometry references. On GERD-EVL and a DeepCAD test subset, DIP-CAD improves mIoU for static model generation by 11.1% and 5.6%, respectively. In parameter-editing evaluations, the corresponding mIoU improvements are 7.0% and 4.2%. Case studies further demonstrate how parameter edits drive shape updates while preserving design intent.

HABIT-Bench: Evaluating Habit Induction from Longitudinal Weak Evidence in Agent Memory

原文摘要

In long-term interactions with large language model (LLM) agents, users reveal habits through their choices and actions. These habits capture implicit user information that agents must infer across conversations. However, individual observations may provide only partial evidence about a habit or when it applies. Retaining past interactions alone does not ensure that agents can infer habits and apply them appropriately. We introduce HABIT-Bench to evaluate how well agent memory systems infer habits from weak evidence and apply them to later requests. We construct synthetic user histories from task-oriented dialogue data and controlled habit graphs. The histories span hundreds of sessions across food, finance, software, and travel. Four-choice tasks assess agents' ability to infer user habits and apply them appropriately. They include temporary exceptions, changes in habits, and suggestions that users have not accepted. Sampled tasks undergo independent human review. We evaluate eight memory methods with Qwen3-235B-A22B and GLM-5.3-Flash. The best-performing memory method achieves 33.61\% macro accuracy across the four domains. Performance remains limited even when annotated evidence is supplied directly. These results expose a persistent gap between access to past interactions and the ability to infer and appropriately use user habits.

Spectral Characterization and Mitigation of Sequential Knowledge Editing Collapse

原文摘要

Sequential knowledge editing in large language models often causes catastrophic collapse of the model’s general abilities, especially for parameter-modifying methods. Existing approaches mitigate this issue through heuristic constraints on parameter updates, the mechanisms underlying such degradation remain insufficiently understood. In this work, we present a systematic spectral analysis of sequential knowledge editing and show that a model’s general abilities are closely associated with dominant singular directions of pretrained weight matrices. These directions are highly sensitive to perturbations and are progressively disrupted by repeated edits, closely tracking the collapse in both editing efficacy and general performance. Building on this insight, we propose REVIVE, a plug-and-play framework that prevents model collapse by explicitly preserving this dominant subspace. REVIVE analyzes parameter updates in the spectral basis of the original weights and filters out components that would interfere with the dominant subspace. Extensive experiments across multiple models and benchmarks show that REVIVE consistently improves editing efficacy while substantially preserving general abilities under long-horizon sequential editing, including extreme settings with up to 20,000 edits.
