DeliverBench: Benchmarking AI Agents on Delivering Realistic Multi-Stage Professional Projects

Yumou Liu, Mingju Chen, Zhoufutu Wen, Qianyu Yang, Zijie Wang, Sihan Chen, Yeqian Liu, Chenghao Yang 等 24 位作者

LLM agents are judged by what they deliver, and in professional work what gets delivered is a project, not a task. A project pays off only if the whole package holds, and one weak part can limit the value of the rest. Yet existing benchmarks mostly test agents on one task at a time, leaving a gap between the capability we measure and the outcome that makes agents useful. To address this gap, we introduce DeliverBench, which tests whether agents can carry a project from brief to final delivery. Its 11 projects, spanning financial due diligence, legal contract drafting, and drug safety reporting, are reconstructed with 13 domain experts from real materials and chain 150 subtasks through 2-15 rounds of new materials and client feedback. Because no reference outputs are injected, agents inherit their own errors from one task to the next. Expert rubrics then score every checkpoint as well as the final package. Across seven model-harness systems, even the best system scores only 65.0 out of 100 on final delivery and passes 50.0% of subtasks at a 90-point threshold. The failures are often failures of carrying work forward: in one audit project, all seven systems addressed the review findings, but only one preserved traceability. Together, these results suggest that task-level capability does not simply compose into delivery, which also depends on keeping the work coherent as it evolves.

BasisKV: Value Latents for Communication and Key Routing

Lixun Zhang, Zishan Shao, Kangning Cui, Yu Liang, Fan Yang, Yiran Chen

Long-context large language model (LLM) inference is increasingly constrained by the cost of maintaining an ever-growing KV-cache. Low-rank K/V projections provide a promising way to compress the KV-cache with minimal quality loss, but prior work has largely optimized KV-cache compression in isolation, leaving distributed inference, especially with tensor parallelism where attention computation is partitioned across multiple GPUs, largely underexplored. We make two observations: (i) tensor-parallel communication is an important cost when deploying low-rank KV-cache compression in distributed inference; and (ii) Value compression can be associated with the output projection, allowing the same low-rank Value representation to reduce both Value-cache width and tensor-parallel communication. Based on these observations, we propose BasisKV, a low-rank KV-cache compression method for communication-intensive, long-context LLM inference. BasisKV jointly optimizes the low-rank factors across per-GPU attention partitions against the complete attention output, rather than fitting each partition in isolation. The compressed Value cache is further reused to help identify which Key pages should be accessed: it predicts part of the Key information needed for routing, while a Key-specific residual stores what cannot be recovered from Value. The original Keys are then retrieved only for the selected pages to compute exact QK scores. Across multiple LLM families and system settings, BasisKV achieves a better quality--efficiency tradeoff than existing low-rank baselines, reaching up to 1.42x end-to-end speedup under 8-GPU tensor-parallel inference. Our code is available at https://github.com/alexz949/BasisKV

MedHEB: Benchmarking Medical Embeddings Across Heterogeneous Clinical Evidence

Yingshu Li, Shaoyang Zhou, Zhanyu Wang, Yunyi Liu, Xinyu Liang, Xi Zhang, Lingqiao Liu, Lei Wang 等 9 位作者

Clinical evidence is inherently relational: medical images are interpreted with prior studies, cross-modal examinations, reports, and localized findings, and retrieving relevant evidence is therefore central to clinical interpretation. Recent foundation models increasingly encode these heterogeneous sources into shared embedding spaces, yet existing embedding evaluation often focuses on isolated matches, leaving unclear whether current models retrieve relevant evidence across changes in modality, appearance, and granularity. We introduce MedHEB, a unified benchmark with 107 retrieval tasks from 54 datasets, including both in-distribution and held-out-source evaluation, across three axes: evidence form (2D images, 3D volumes, text), pairing type (image--image, image--text, text--text, and modality-bridging visual matching), and relevance granularity (global, question-conditioned, region-level). Under a single ranking protocol, MedHEB varies clinically relevant evidence definitions to test whether embedding proximity remains meaningful across heterogeneous evidence, including modality-bridging visual retrieval and region-level text-to-region retrieval. Across representative models, performance is uneven across retrieval families: models strong on conventional image--text or text--text retrieval are less reliable on modality-bridging and region-level tasks. Current embedding spaces capture some clinical relationships well but do not yet provide balanced retrieval across heterogeneous evidence. We further provide MedEmb, an MLLM-based reference embedding model trained on the MedHEB ID split, as a reproducible baseline for unified 2D--3D--text medical retrieval. We release MedHEB with preprocessing scripts, evaluation code, access manifests, and MedEmb to support research on clinically meaningful medical embeddings.

TaxoMFM: A Taxonomy-Aware Foundation Model for the Human Gut Microbiome

Haochen Xue, Anastasia Godneva, Yulong Li, Qi Cao, Zhaodong Wu, Kaiyu Liang, Jionglong Su, Eran Segal 等 9 位作者

Existing gut microbiome foundation models typically use flat taxon representations, limiting their ability to exploit known taxonomic hierarchies. We introduce TaxoMFM, a microbiome foundation model that integrates taxonomic structure into self-supervised learning. TaxoMFM jointly learns abundance patterns across taxonomic ranks and relative proportions within groups through taxonomy-aware encoding and hierarchical compositional reconstruction. We further construct TaxoGut-HPP, comprising 100,806 gut microbiome profiles from 231 source cohorts and covering 40 classification and 8 regression tasks. TaxoMFM achieves competitive performance across disease, gut health, host trait, and liver ultrasound phenotype prediction. In cross-cohort zero-shot transfer, where target cohorts are excluded from both pretraining and downstream adaptation, TaxoMFM achieves AUROCs of 0.838, 0.736, and 0.722 for colorectal cancer, type 2 diabetes, and inflammatory bowel disease, respectively. Further analyses show that TaxoMFM recovers community changes across taxonomic scales, while preserving community information and producing consistent representations under database updates and species-vocabulary shifts. Our code is available at https://anonymous.4open.science/r/TaxoMFM-F16D/.

VCORE: Variance-Controlled Optimization-based Reweighting for Chain-of-Thought Supervision

Xuan Gong Nankai University and Shanghai Jiaotong University, Senmiao Wang, Hanbo Huang, Ruoyu Sun The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shiyu Liang Shanghai Jiaotong University

Supervised fine-tuning (SFT) on long chain-of-thought (CoT) trajectories has emerged as a crucial technique for enhancing the reasoning abilities of large language models (LLMs). However, the standard cross-entropy loss treats all tokens equally, ignoring their heterogeneous contributions across a reasoning trajectory. This uniform treatment leads to misallocated supervision and weak generalization, especially in complex, long-form reasoning tasks. To address this, we introduce Variance-Controlled Optimization-based REweighting (VCORE), a principled framework that reformulates CoT supervision as a constrained optimization problem. By adopting an optimization-theoretic perspective, VCORE enables a principled and adaptive allocation of supervision across tokens, thereby aligning the training objective more closely with the goal of robust reasoning generalization. Empirical evaluations demonstrate that VCORE achieves the strongest overall average performance, with especially clear gains on lower-capacity models. Across both in-domain and out-of-domain settings, VCORE achieves substantial performance gains on mathematical and coding benchmarks, using models from the Qwen3 series (4B, 8B, 32B) and LLaMA-3.1-8B-Instruct. Moreover, we show that VCORE serves as a more effective initialization for subsequent reinforcement learning, establishing a stronger foundation for advancing the reasoning capabilities of LLMs.

ReflectRM: Boosting Generative Reward Models via Self-Reflection within a Unified Judgment Framework

Kai Qin, Liangxin Liu Baidu, Yu Liang, Longzheng Wang Baidu, Wangyan Research, Baidu, Zhang Yueyang Baidu, Long Xia Baidu Inc., Zhiyuan Sun Baidu 等 10 位作者

Reward Models (RMs) are critical components in the Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF) pipeline, directly determining the alignment quality of Large Language Models (LLMs). Recently, Generative Reward Models (GRMs) have emerged as a superior paradigm, offering higher interpretability and stronger generalization than traditional scalar RMs. However, existing methods for GRMs focus primarily on outcome-level supervision, neglecting analytical process quality, which constrains their potential. To address this, we propose ReflectRM, a novel GRM that leverages self-reflection to assess analytical quality and enhance preference modeling. ReflectRM is trained under a unified generative framework for joint modeling of response preference and analysis preference. During inference, we use its self-reflection capability to identify the most reliable analysis, from which the final preference prediction is derived. Experiments across four benchmarks show that ReflectRM consistently improves performance, achieving an average accuracy gain of +3.7 on Qwen3-4B. Further experiments confirm that response preference and analysis preference are mutually reinforcing. Notably, ReflectRM substantially mitigates positional bias, yielding +10.2 improvement compared with leading GRMs and establishing itself as a more stable evaluator. Our code is available at https://github.com/yuliangCarmelo/ReflectRM.

ConsistRM: Improving Generative Reward Models via Consistency-Aware Self-Training

Yu Liang, Liangxin Liu Baidu, Longzheng Wang Baidu, Wangyan Research, Baidu, Zhang Yueyang Baidu, Long Xia Baidu Inc., Zhiyuan Sun Baidu, Daiting Shi Baidu

Generative reward models (GRMs) have emerged as a promising approach for aligning Large Language Models (LLMs) with human preferences by offering greater representational capacity and flexibility than traditional scalar reward models. However, GRMs face two major challenges: reliance on costly human-annotated data restricts scalability, and self-training approaches often suffer from instability and vulnerability to reward hacking. To address these issues, we propose ConsistRM, a self-training framework that enables effective and stable GRM training without human annotations. ConsistRM incorporates the Consistency-Aware Answer Reward, which produces reliable pseudo-labels with temporal consistency, thereby providing more stable model optimization. Moreover, the Consistency-Aware Critique Reward is introduced to assess semantic consistency across multiple critiques and allocates fine-grained and differentiated rewards. Experiments on five benchmark datasets across four base models demonstrate that ConsistRM outperforms vanilla Reinforcement Fine-Tuning (RFT) by an average of 1.5%. Further analysis shows that ConsistRM enhances output consistency and mitigates position bias caused by input order, highlighting the effectiveness of consistency-aware rewards in improving GRMs.Our implementation is available at https://github.com/yuliangCarmelo/ConsistRM.
