Batch-Conditioned Semantic Anchors for Robust Transductive Adaptation of Vision--Language Models

Mohammed Rahman Sherif Khan Mohammad, Ardhendu Behera, Sandip Pradhan, Swagat Kumar, Amr Ahmed

原文摘要

Transductive adaptation improves vision-language models at test time by refining predictions on an unlabeled batch, but current methods face a key trade-off. Aggressive approaches exploit batch structure but can drift when batches are sparse, have prior shift, or cover little of the label space. Conservative methods better preserve CLIP text semantics, but fixed semantic references can under-adapt even when the batch provides strong corrective evidence. We propose JPTA (Joint Prior and Transport Adaptation), a prior-aware framework that casts transductive VLM adaptation as batch-conditioned semantic reference estimation. Instead of treating CLIP text prototypes as fixed priors or freely replaceable, JPTA views them as semantic references that shift toward image-side batch structure only under calibrated evidence. It estimates batch priors and soft image-side prototypes to form transported semantic references whose impact is scaled by batch reliability. Across standard benchmarks, low effective-class regimes, all-class evaluation, and online streams, JPTA consistently outperforms TransCLIP and StatA, with the largest gains on sparse and prior-shifted batches. Anchor-drift, active-support, and absent-class-mass diagnostics show that JPTA fixes effective-class mismatch without unconstrained transductive drift, indicating that robust transductive VLM adaptation should recalibrate semantic references using reliable batch evidence rather than choose between unrestricted transduction and fixed prototypes. Recursive self-improvement requires AI systems to improve the models and infrastructure used by subsequent systems. LLM compression offers a concrete efficiency objective: retain a pretrained model's behavior within a smaller model storage budget. We study whether coding agents can carry out this step autonomously. We formulate compression as a terminal task in which an agent receives a source checkpoint, storage limit, inference environment, and time budget, then constructs compressed weights and executable inference code. The agent controls its algorithm and experiments; perplexity feedback guides search, and independent verification checks the final model. Across six agents and six model--size settings, 29 of 36 submissions pass verification. Selecting the lowest-perplexity agent design per task yields an average 3.4% perplexity increase over BF16 and 77.33% downstream accuracy, compared with 79.56% for BF16. Recorded experiments reveal how agents achieve these outcomes and where improvement breaks down. Agents lower PPL in 21 of 24 revisions at nearly fixed storage; complete-model feedback reverses 17 of 79 prior local rankings; and generation and inference tests expose failures that likelihood alone misses. The results identify representation design, experimental judgment, and capability validation as central to agent-driven model compression, a measurable component of efficiency-oriented self-improvement.

Large language model (LLM) coding agents develop software through experimentation, offering an opportunity to design the serving systems supporting their own operation. Effective serving requires coordinating implementation and operating decisions under session dependencies, latency constraints, and correctness requirements. We introduce ServerBench, a benchmark for agentic design of complete, specialized LLM serving systems. Agents experiment against a common objective, dollars per dollar: latency-qualified token value per dollar of GPU cost. Stateful replay preserves session dependencies, and independent verification checks the submitted system. Across 11 coding-agent models and three deployments, Claude Sonnet 5.5 achieves 2.97 dollars per dollar on Gemma E4B, $4.87\times$ the vLLM reference; 22 of 33 runs yield verified systems, and 13 exceed the strongest baseline. Our analysis identifies three findings: high-value designs coordinate capacity improvements with load selection; agents interpret performance feedback through workload-relevant experiments; and reliable delivery requires verification of the execution paths introduced by optimization. Overall, ServerBench supports systematic study of how agents translate service objectives and feedback into effective, verified serving systems for given task specifications.

Under stochastic decoding, a single context can elicit many different answers from a language model. Characterizing this variation typically requires many expensive autoregressive rollouts, each revealing only one realization. We ask whether the activations produced while reading the context can directly forecast the model's rollout activations. We train context--answer metamodels that map a context activation sequence to point or distribution forecasts of mean-pooled answer activations. We find that (i) the four metamodel families we study forecast mean-pooled answer activations with high fidelity, and the distribution metamodels also capture rollout variability; (ii) performance improves as the training set grows to 500,000 prompts, and the metamodels generalize zero-shot to out-of-domain datasets; (iii) their forecasts retain behavior-predictive signal; and (iv) context activations from Qwen2.5 predict mean-pooled answer activations from Qwen3.5 and Gemma 4, suggesting that activation forecasts can transfer across models. Together, these results suggest that context activation traces can support scalable forecasts of behaviors in LLM answers before the first answer token is generated.

We present a toolchain for development of ML models on AWS EC2 F2 cloud FPGA infrastructure from high-level language, implementing a complete Vitis HLS to HDK bridge to AFI workflow that has been absent from the academic literature despite eight years of AWS FPGA availability. We introduce a four-level methodology (FP32 PyTorch, bit-accurate quantized Python, HLS C-simulation, physical FPGA) to aid in localizing errors, including FPGA-specific circuit errors. Together these tools allow coding agents to effectively implement FPGA designs from user directions, testing and debugging as needed. We document the deployment workflow, timing closure strategies, and practical HLS engineering decisions that proved crucial. We validate using TinyBERT fine-tuned for address Named Entity Recognition, implementing the embedding layer and the first of four encoder layers on the FPGA hardware. Our implementation streams weights from host DRAM, yielding poor performance compared to CPU/GPU implementations; we discuss forward paths.

We study which training and calibration data help three open models solve ARC-AGI-2 tasks when the solver runs offline on four L4 GPUs for at most 12 hours. We compare data offline on public tasks and report 189 runs on the 120 hidden semi-private tasks. For the NVARC Qwen3-4B grid model, we built a corpus of 12,000 executable rules in a typed language and 95,993 tasks; a rule is admitted only if its behaviour on a fixed probe set differs from that of every admitted rule, and a task only if its pairs refute a shortlist of nearest competing rules and defeat 12 shortcut solvers. Continued fine-tuning on 1,920 real task records with revised four-GPU scheduling raised the semi-private score from 28.96 (mean of the released model) to 33.06 (mean of five runs, best 34.86); no checkpoint trained with synthetic tasks, even all 95,993 of them, improved on the real-task model. For the Qwen3.8-27B reasoning model, we fine-tuned on 1,036 of its own reasoning traces with correct final answers and compared sets that add traces of other models and synthetic tasks. With an inference procedure built around the model (a thinking cap enforced in the serving engine, a Python program checked on the demonstrations after each answer, a long first attempt per input), the score rose from 26.81 to 44.03, the level the ARC Prize Foundation measured for the base model without a time limit (42.36); most of the gain came from the inference procedure. For the Qwen3.8-Flash-Next mixture-of-experts model (125B parameters, 6B active), GPU memory limited concurrency. Pruning from 512 to 384 experts per layer by router-weighted activation saliency grew the key-value cache from 0.55M to 1.39M tokens; a 296-expert list adapted with ARC routing statistics, keeping experts for program tokens, plus an FP8 indexer cache, reached 1.96M. With a tool that checks programs, the model scored 56.67, our best result.

We present CivBench, an open-source benchmark for evaluating language model agents in long-horizon, tool-mediated environments through the Model Context Protocol (MCP). A single episode can span over 300 turns and produces thousands of tool calls over a large action space, requiring sustained planning, state monitoring, and execution under partial observability. The environment exposes 76 MCP tools and a deterministic narration layer that retrieves and formats game state as structured text. We use CivBench to characterise agent behaviour across four model families in 23 admissible runs. The sample is a pilot, not a model ranking: aggregate outcomes do not reliably discriminate models at this scale. Instead, we introduce two interface-level metrics that the environment makes measurable: Proactive Monitoring Rate (PMR), capturing whether agents actively query latent strategic state, and RAG@10, capturing whether commitments stated in structured planning reflections are executed within ten subsequent turns. Across runs we observe two consistent patterns under a shared playbook protocol. Agents under-monitor strategically relevant state that is available but requires explicit querying: despite playbook guidance to query victory progress every 20 turns, agents do so only every 30-75 turns, and in 8 of 20 detectable defeats they failed to query within the 20-turn warning window before game end. Agents also frequently fail to execute near-term commitments stated in their own planning reflections (RAG@10 between 48.2% and 65.8% across models). Both patterns arise despite tool access and explicit guidance, and we interpret them as deviations under instruction rather than absences of capability. We release the environment, scenarios, logs, metrics, and analysis pipeline at https://github.com/lmwilki/civ6-mcp.

Cue-guided dual-path reconstruction with adaptive multi-scale response refinement for low-light image enhancement

原文摘要

Low-light image enhancement (LLIE) supports optical sensing and scene observation when limited photon capture and sensor noise degrade image quality. However, existing methods can introduce colour deviations or blur local details in the enhanced images. To address this challenge, we propose CueDR-Net, a dual-path network that combines brightness adjustment with local content reconstruction through bidirectional cue interaction and adaptive multi-scale refinement. Specifically, a fixed extractor derives luminance variation, colour, and texture cue maps from the input image. These maps are encoded in a cue stream that exchanges features with the image stream through bidirectional attention. The exchanged features support two paths for brightness adjustment and local content reconstruction. The brightness adjustment path predicts pixel wise adjustment maps that control iterative intensity changes in the input image. In parallel, the residual path uses the exchanged features to predict an additive correction for local content reconstruction. To capture weak structures across scales, Adaptive Multi-Scale Response Refinement Convolution (AMRRConv) refines the features used for both predictions. It fuses learnable local transition responses with multi-scale features from factorized three-plane filtering using pixel wise weights. The adjusted image is added to the correction before being mapped to the enhanced image. Evaluations on LOLv1, LSRW-HUAWEI, and LSRW-NIKON demonstrate competitive enhancement performance, supported by ablation studies. AMRRConv also achieves competitive low-light detection performance with a small neck parameter count when integrated into YOLOv11.

Efficient benchmarking estimates a system's full benchmark performance from a small number of task executions. Standard approaches rely solely on the binary correctness of executions from a collection of already-evaluated reference systems. An agentic system, however, produces a rich trace for each execution that can reveal substantially more about its capabilities. Leveraging this information requires useful trace representations. We propose representing a trace by extracting a structured summary of it with an LLM and embedding the summary with a standard text encoder. These representations preserve correctness- and task-related signal while minimizing the presence of system identity-, model family- and harness-related signals that dominate raw trace embeddings. Given this representation for each task execution from all reference systems, we construct low-dimensional representations of the systems and predict a new system's score from its position among the reference systems. On SWE-bench Verified and Terminal-Bench 2.0, augmenting an item-response model with this geometry-based prediction reduces mean absolute error from 0.13 to 0.08 (Wilcoxon $p < 10^{-4}$) and from 0.14 to 0.12 (Wilcoxon $p < 10^{-3}$), respectively, when provided a single random executed task. Further, given access to the full set of reference systems, our approach dominates baselines for any given number of executed tasks on both benchmarks.

Message-passing graph neural networks (GNNs) are limited in expressive power by the one-dimensional Weisfeiler-Leman test. Persistent homology (PH) provides topological descriptors that can complement GNN representations, but existing approaches typically compute persistence separately from the representation learning process. In this paper, we introduce Message-Passing Graph Persistence (MGP), a family of topological descriptors that incorporates message passing into graph filtrations. At each filtration step, node embeddings are updated using the current subgraph and associated with persistence events. These embeddings also determine the representatives of connected components during persistence computation. We prove that MGP is invariant under graph isomorphism and that it is strictly more expressive than the PH-based descriptors it extends. We evaluate MGP on an expressivity benchmark and on several graph classification and regression datasets. Experiments show that MGP outperforms other PH-based descriptors on most of these datasets.

Sample-efficient fluid intelligence requires agents that rapidly form working models of unfamiliar interactive environments. ARC-AGI-3 tests this across uninstructed visual games scored by Relative Human Action Efficiency, which penalizes exploratory waste quadratically. When frontier models read raw integer grids, serialization destroys spatial topology, and they spend hundreds of actions rediscovering basic boundaries and symmetries. We introduce SARBLOH, an open-weight agent built on the premise that spatial perception, not planning capacity, governs interactive reasoning on ARC-AGI-3. A zero-parameter O(HW) perception engine turns each frame, in 35 ms, into an object inventory with bipartite temporal tracking, a geometric briefing that separates proven invariants from affordance hypotheses, and an annotated canvas. Paired with a code-as-action runtime, the agent writes algorithmic hypotheses instead of low-level moves. Across eight presentations, grounded perception raises the rubric score from 3/28 to 25/28 points while cutting token use by 89.4%. On 23 held-out games, geometric invariants generalize with 100% accuracy, while single-frame affordance guesses fall to 6-50%, so active verification probes remain necessary. On the public set, Run A (briefing off) solved 143 of 183 levels in 8.2 hours at 59.4% single-pass efficiency; Run B (briefing on) reached 63.5%. Within the nine-hour budget on one Kaggle RTX PRO 6000 GPU, SARBLOH scored 16.53 on the hidden Kaggle evaluation, 13.7x the first Milestone winner.

Organisations deploying AI face a scoping problem: which tasks can be automated, which should remain with humans, and which are best shared between the two. Aggregate benchmark scores provide little insight into where systems will succeed or fail in practice, while human judgements of model capabilities quickly become outdated. We introduce a pipeline that profiles agents and tasks using a shared set of core cognitive capabilities. Cognitive capability profiling infers an agent's capabilities from performance on a benchmark battery annotated for the cognitive demands of each item. Task requirements weighting elicits from domain experts the relative importance of these same capabilities for their work. As both use a common set of cognitive dimensions, they can be updated independently as models and roles change, and combined to estimate AI suitability at the level of a domain, organisation, role, or individual duty. We validate capability recovery on synthetic agents, profile six AI systems, and elicit task requirements from 410 employees across six occupational domains. AI systems differed more across cognitive dimensions than across model families, while workplace activities converged on a shared cognitive core. The resulting scores provide a comparative scoping tool for identifying promising candidates for piloting and areas where current systems are unlikely to be well suited. We discuss extending the framework to profile human workers alongside AI systems, moving from AI suitability towards human-machine task allocation.

The Two-Ledger Model: Transaction-Grain Cost Accounting for Multi-Agent AI Systems Across Clouds, Models, and Systems of Record

Vivek Acharya

原文摘要

Enterprises run business transactions through multi-agent AI systems spanning clouds, large language models (LLMs), orchestration harnesses, and systems of record. Finance receives AI cost only at settlement grain, aggregated by SKU and charge period. The business question (what did this order, claim, or case cost in AI?) cannot be answered from billing data, because providers never see enterprise transaction boundaries. The FinOps Open Cost and Usage Specification (FOCUS) gives billing data one schema across providers but remains settlement-grain even as it adds AI token and requester attribution. We formalize this grain mismatch, derive seven requirements, and propose the Two-Ledger Model: a settlement ledger of FOCUS-conformant billing data joined to an attribution ledger of invocation-grain usage records built on OpenTelemetry GenAI telemetry. A layered correlation spine (trace context, A2A/MCP metadata, business-key correlation, probabilistic matching) assigns each record to its business transaction with recorded method and confidence; a versioned rate card prices usage in near real time; period reconciliation ties both ledgers to the invoice, and the unexplained residual identifies shadow AI. Costs are reported per order, claim, or outcome with agentic cost metrics. A simulation with known ground truth shows the spine sustaining cost coverage above 99% as trace propagation falls to zero, the reconciliation residual recovering planted unmetered spend within 0.24 percentage points while flagging provider billing errors, and mid-flight gating cutting p99 transaction cost by up to 61% at a 2-4% false-pause rate. We propose the attribution ledger as an invocation-grain FOCUS profile for standardization.

AnchorRep: Defending LLMs Against Cross-Model Adversarial Transfer via Representation Repulsion

Gal Wertheizer, Rom Himelstein, Tomer Peretz, Avi Mendelson

原文摘要

Adversarial attacks optimized on a single open-weight LLM can transfer to and jailbreak architecturally different models, allowing an attacker with white-box access to one model to compromise independently deployed systems. This creates a shared vulnerability across models, yet existing defenses are not designed for this cross-model threat. We find that cross-model transfer aligns with shared internal representation geometry, making it a natural defense target. AnchorRep targets this geometry directly with a lightweight LoRA adapter that pushes the defended model's internal representations of harmful prompts away from those of a frozen anchor model on the same prompts. Training uses a small set of harmful prompts and no adversarial examples. Across five models and four architectural families, AnchorRep reduces cross-model attack success rate to <=1.1% on 2,000 transferred attacks (0% on two), including the largest drop on Mistral (36% -> 1.1%). Existing defenses can reduce transfer, but only at high cost either inducing up to 77% degenerate benign output or increasing over-refusal by up to 18%. Because such degenerate benign outputs are not captured by standard refusal-based metrics, we introduce the Benign Garble Rate to quantify them. Our results suggest that cross-model robustness can be achieved by shaping representation geometry, without requiring attack-specific training

FedFiOT: Fisher-Weighted Optimal Transport for Model Merging in One-Shot and Few-Round Federated Learning

Quan Minh Nguyen, Hoang M. Ngo, Bhakti Chowkwale, Yasaman Keshtkarjahromi, My T. Thai

原文摘要

One-shot and few-round federated learning (FL) reduce communication burden by constructing a global model within one or a few communication rounds, but often achieve lower performance than conventional multi-round FL. Without frequent synchronization, client models may drift apart, causing neurons that learn similar features to occupy different positions across clients. At the same time, local data heterogeneity can cause corresponding parameters to differ in their importance to each client's predictions. Together, these challenges cause direct averaging to combine mismatched neurons and assign equal weight to parameters despite differences in their importance. We propose FedFiOT, a Fisher-weighted optimal transport framework for one-shot and few-round FL that leverages Fisher information to quantify parameter importance and guide neuron alignment and model aggregation. FedFiOT jointly optimizes neuron correspondences and global model parameters through alternating minimization of a shared Fisher-weighted objective. Theoretically, we show that FedFiOT's optimization procedure monotonically decreases the layer-wise merging objective and establish a stationarity bound that quantifies the effects of client heterogeneity and nonuniform Fisher weighting.Experiments across multiple datasets demonstrate consistent improvements over competing baselines in both one-shot and few-round federated learning settings.

SPARTA: A Sparse Ternary LLM Accelerator with Adaptive Attention and Unified Datapath for Long-Context Edge Inference

Yanzhen Zhou, Zhengyu Han, Qunyou Liu, Zheyu Yan, Weihong Xu, Cheng Zhuo

原文摘要

LLMs on edge devices are constrained by limited memory and bandwidth. Although 1.58-bit ternary weights greatly reduce model storage, long-context inference is increasingly bottlenecked by KV-cache traffic and attention. Existing accelerators also use separate datapaths for ternary linear layers and attention, incurring hardware and execution overhead. We present SPARTA, a sparse ternary LLM accelerator for efficient long-context edge inference. SPARTA integrates: (1) a phase-aware sparse dataflow exploiting heterogeneous sparsity across compute-bound prefill and memory-bound decode; (2) a unified compute fabric mapping ternary SpMM/SpMV and bit-serial attention onto shared processing elements to exploit zero-weight and zero-bit sparsity; and (3) an adaptive two-stage attention engine combining page-level Top-k selection to reduce K-cache accesses with token-level Top-p pruning to reduce V-cache traffic. SPARTA reduces KV traffic by 4.1-4.8x over full attention and 1.3-1.5x over a state-of-the-art sparse-attention scheme, with task-dependent quality loss. Compared with NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin, SPARTA achieves 3.9x higher generation throughput and 8.3x higher end-to-end energy efficiency on average; versus AMD Ryzen 7 9700X, the gains are 5.0x and 81.7x. It also delivers 1.6-12.0x higher throughput, 2.0-4.2x higher energy efficiency, and 1.3-51.4x higher area efficiency than FIGLUT, TeLLMe, and MCBP.

Big Models, Small Gains: Frozen Forecasters as Classifiers on MONSTER

Rishit Jain, Rishit Kar, Chetashri Bhadane, Nilesh Patil

原文摘要

Forecasting foundation models are increasingly used as frozen feature extractors for time series classification, but it remains unclear whether their pretrained representations offer an advantage over strong classifiers that do not require pretraining. This raises an important question: do these representations provide useful information beyond what the model architecture alone can capture, particularly when labelled data are scarce? We present a controlled benchmarking of two forecasting models, Reverso and Chronos-Bolt, on six large datasets from the MONSTER benchmark, using 1%, 10%, and 100% of the available training labels. We compare their frozen representations against four established time series classification methods and random-weight versions of the same forecasting models. Our results show that pretraining improves classification accuracy over random-weight counterparts on five of the six datasets, with gains of up to 23 percentage points. However, the frozen representations do not reliably outperform the strongest non-pretrained baseline in any setting: they perform worse in 15 of 17 settings and tie in the remaining two. Further experiments show that restoring amplitude information recovers part of the performance gap, while fine-tuning and forecast-error features do not close it. These findings highlight the importance of strong task specific baselines and random weight controls when evaluating forecasting foundation models for classification. Our code is available at https://github.com/Rachet2006/frozen-forecasters-monster.

Phantoms and Disclosures: A Statistical Framework for Auditing Privacy in Synthetic Data

Kareem Amin, Rudrajit Das, Alessandro Epasto, Adel Javanmard, Dennis Kraft, Mónica Ribero, Sergei Vassilvitskii

原文摘要

The rapid adoption of generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) has spurred interest in synthetic data as a privacy-preserving alternative to sensitive real-world datasets. However, generating high-utility synthetic data often carries the risk of memorizing and regurgitating private information from the training corpus. In this work, we present a customizable empirical auditing framework designed to detect and explain such data disclosures. Our framework introduces a mechanism to distinguish between "true disclosures"-where the system directly reproduces a user's information-and "phantom disclosures''-where the system incidentally generates a user's data. By partitioning input data into training and holdout sets and applying rigorous statistical hypothesis testing, we determine if observed disclosures are consistent with strict privacy baselines, such as zero-learning or specific Differential Privacy (DP) bounds. Crucially, this approach requires no model access, no canary insertion, and no reference model training -only the synthetic output and a held-out control set. We demonstrate that this framework effectively functions as a membership inference attack, providing empirical lower bounds on privacy leakage that are tighter than prior data-based auditing methods. Our approach is model-agnostic, applies to any synthetic data generation mechanism, and requires orders of magnitude fewer computational resources than shadow-model or canary-based alternatives.

RefCraft: Benchmarking Visual-Reference-Conditioned Agentic Generation through Web Development

原文摘要

Beyond basic tool use and coding skills, effectively incorporating visual references into agentic generation is equally essential for applying AI agents to real-world productivity tasks. We study this crucial capability through webpage development, a practical and readily evaluable setting in which existing benchmarks remain largely idealized: they typically focus on reconstructing visual targets or generating webpages from textual instructions alone, overlooking the more common workflow of developing from visual examples. Specifically, we introduce RefCraft, a benchmark comprising 300 realistic multimodal webpage-development tasks that combine natural-language instructions with screenshots from one to five reference webpages. Agents must selectively interpret and utilize these references while rendering, visually inspecting, and iteratively refining their outputs. We evaluate the resulting open-ended artifacts using independently verifiable keypoints and complementary programmatic and VLM judges. Across nine frontier (M)LLMs, the strongest system achieves an overall score of only 52.12 out of 100, revealing that visual-reference-conditioned agentic generation remains a substantial challenge for current models in practical webpage-development settings.

Route First, See Later: Enabling Vision Agents to Reason Scientifically by Separating Routing Policy from Action Spaces

Shubhabrata Mukherjee, Jeffrey Donatelli, Daniela Ushizima

原文摘要

Scientific image-analysis workflows require agents to select among diverse capabilities like description, detection, counting, and segmentation. Current multi-tool architectures conflate intent interpretation with visual execution, masking whether a failure arises from flawed reasoning (misrouting) or failed perception (invalid tool execution). This lack of auditability renders agents unreliable for high-stakes scientific automation. We introduce ZETA, an extensible architecture that operationalizes the decoupling of routing policy from action execution. ZETA resolves scientific intent before invoking specialized visual tools, treating measurement as a deterministic operation grounded in explicit geometry rather than generative output. This architecture exposes the "black box" of agent decision-making, allowing routing correctness and downstream execution to be evaluated as independent failure modes. To our knowledge, we provide the first controlled study in scientific vision-agent routing that isolates explicit routing-policy specification while holding the legal action interface fixed. Evaluation on a zero-shot benchmark of 51 scientific-intent queries shows that explicit routing semantics can substantially improve routing accuracy, particularly at semantically adjacent action boundaries, although improvements vary across models. For Qwen 3.8, explicit routing-policy specification improves segmentation routing accuracy from 6.2% to 75.0% and detection routing accuracy from 60.0% to 100%. ZETA's execution traces make routing decisions and downstream artifacts separately observable, providing a basis for distinguishing intent-selection errors from visual execution failures. ZETA establishes the necessary infrastructure to isolate execution errors from interpretive ones, a critical requirement for deploying reliable scientific vision agents.

AEGIS: Preserving Privacy of 3D Facial Avatars with Adversarial Perturbations

原文摘要

The growing adoption of photorealistic 3D facial avatars, particularly those utilizing efficient 3D Gaussian Splatting representations, introduces new risks of online identity theft, especially in systems that rely on biometric authentication. While effective adversarial masking methods have been developed for 2D images, a significant gap remains in achieving robust, viewpoint-consistent identity protection for dynamic 3D avatars. To address this, we present AEGIS, the first privacy-preserving identity masking framework for 3D Gaussian avatars, concealing identity from automated face recognition while preserving the avatar's perceptual realism and animation usability. AEGIS applies adversarial perturbations to the base (DC) color coefficients of the Gaussian primitives, guided by an ensemble of pre-trained face verification networks, embedding the protection directly in the 3D representation so that it applies across viewpoints and animations, without retraining or modifying the avatar's geometry. Evaluated against black-box recognizers, AEGIS reduces face retrieval and verification accuracy to near-zero while maintaining high perceptual fidelity. It also preserves key facial attributes such as age, gender, and emotion, demonstrating strong privacy protection with minimal visual distortion. We further introduce a viewpoint-robust leakage metric that quantifies residual identity leakage across an avatar's rendered viewpoints, which single-view evaluation cannot capture.

Token Time Continuous Diffusion for Language Modeling

Parikshit Bansal, Sujay Sanghavi

原文摘要

In this paper we introduce token time continuous diffusion (TTCD), a new diffusion language model which (a) operates in continuous space, deterministically mapping Gaussian noise to a final token canvas with no further sampling, and crucially (b) incorporates a new notion of per-token times, with some tokens proceeding from noise to token at a faster rate than others. Continuous space modeling helps TTCD avoid the parallel sampling of multiple tokens, which is a key source of inaccuracy at high speedups for models that iterate purely in discrete space. The notion of per-token times helps TTCD to better model conditional generation, allows for more sure tokens to proceed at a faster rate, and allows for differentiated inter-token influences during refinement. TTCD outperforms discrete models at high speedups. We train a 160M parameter TTCD model on OpenWebText, and then self-distill it; we find that at high speedups we are comparable in unconditional generation quality, and outperform in conditional generation, several existing models of similar size trained, on the same data, and self-distilled. We achieve similar gains in Sudoku solving as well.

SimForcing: Distilling Simulation Motion Priors into Real-Domain Robot World Models

原文摘要

Action-conditioned robot world models must respond precisely to robot trajectories while preserving realistic visual dynamics, yet learning both from heterogeneous robot videos remains challenging. Simulation offers structured motion supervision, but appearance differences hinder direct transfer, and inaccurate simulation predictions can misguide real-video generation. We present SimForcing, a simulation-guided framework that uses simulation both as a source of transferable motion knowledge and as a controllable reference for prediction. First, we transfer motion knowledge from a simulation teacher through latent-motion distillation, aligning temporal changes in latent space to internalize motion priors while mitigating the influence of appearance differences. Second, we introduce multi-block simulation conditioning with condition dropout to exploit predicted simulation trajectories without relying excessively on their accuracy. Our simulation-conditioning classifier-free guidance scheme unifies these two ideas by balancing predictions based on internalized motion knowledge with those additionally guided by simulation latents. The jointly trained student generates both simulation conditions and real-domain videos, requiring no additional world model at inference. On Bridge, SimForcing achieves the best PSNR, SSIM, LPIPS, and FVD among the compared methods without external embodied pretraining. Evaluation on InternData-A1 further supports its applicability across robot datasets. Moreover, using our trained world model to initialize a vision-language-action model improves LIBERO success, suggesting its utility for downstream policy learning. https://github.com/Wang-Xiaodong1899/SimForcing

TailSteer: Trajectory-Tail Steering for Drift-Resistant Multi-turn Image Editing

原文摘要

Strong single-turn editing performance does not guarantee reliable multi-turn interaction: as edited outputs are repeatedly reused, small unintended changes can accumulate into severe visual drift. This long-term drift is often mitigated through training on multi-turn data or cross-turn rollouts, potentially altering pretrained priors, or through specialized inference-time mechanisms that are difficult to scale to foundation models. We introduce TailSteer, a final-stage training framework that improves multi-turn robustness while retaining the generative and editing capabilities acquired through earlier training. TailSteer follows a simple principle: keep early denoising dynamics close to those of the base model and concentrate preservation corrections near the trajectory tail, where fine-grained deviations can be suppressed. These corrections are learned from the editor's own on-policy denoising rollouts, using unchanged source content as a preservation reference without requiring curated ground-truth editing pairs. Experiments across the FLUX, SenseNova, and Qwen families show that TailSteer substantially reduces cumulative drift over 15-20 editing turns while largely preserving base-model performance on extensive text-to-image and single-image editing benchmarks. These results demonstrate that long-horizon editing robustness can be unlocked in foundation models after TailSteer, rather than by relearning their existing capabilities.

原文摘要

This paper introduces an innovative virtual reality (VR) exergame system designed to gamify High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) workouts through 11 predefined combo moves, including squat-punch combinations, bilateral arm strikes, and diagonal stretch combos. Unlike conventional tracking methods that often rely on wearable motion capture suits or limited headset-based sensors, our system uses a standard smartphone camera placed on a tripod to capture full-body movement. This approach offers a cost-effective and scalable alternative, particularly well-suited to the fast, dynamic motions typical of HIIT routines. The smartphone footage is processed in real time using a pose estimation algorithm, with extracted biomechanical data analyzed by a backend server built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), Anthropic's open standard for connecting AI models to structured data sources and tools, and a GPT-4o large language model. The system generates personalized assessments of form accuracy, movement efficiency, exercise intensity, and potential injury risks, tailored specifically to high-impact, time-sensitive exercises. A within-subject study involving 20 participants (ages 18-25) compared experiences in VR and Non-VR HIIT sessions. Results indicated significantly higher enjoyment (Mean = 3.5 vs 2.8, p = 0.02), improved immersion/focus (Mean = 3.2 vs 2.8, p = 0.03), and increased likelihood to recommend (Mean = 3.2 vs 2.7, p = 0.04) under the VR condition. Confidence to continue did not differ significantly between conditions (p = 0.15), while perceived intensity remained comparable. The MCP system showed strong agreement with expert evaluation (87.5%, N = 10 sessions, one certified trainer), supporting its reliability as a feedback tool.

原文摘要

Large reasoning models (LRMs) perform well on challenging benchmarks, yet it remains unclear whether they form generalizable abstractions across conceptually related reasoning tasks. The Abstraction and Reasoning Corpus (ARC) provides a controlled testbed for studying abstraction, requiring solvers to infer transformation rules over two-dimensional grids from a small set of examples. While ARC evaluates rule abstraction within individual tasks, different tasks may share higher-level structure despite requiring different transformations$\unicode{x2014}$for example, several tasks may involve reasoning about objects contained within other objects. Benchmarks such as ConceptARC capture this structure by grouping ARC-style tasks into recurring spatial and semantic concepts, but they often contain only a few manually constructed tasks per concept. We introduce ConceptARC at Scale, a generator for creating thousands of ARC-style tasks targeting a specific concept. Using this generator, we construct ConceptARC-100, a dataset of 1,600 new, manually reviewed tasks, with 100 tasks for each of the 16 concepts defined by ConceptARC$\unicode{x2014}$ten times the size of the original benchmark. We evaluate a range of recent LRMs and models trained from scratch on ConceptARC-100 to characterize which concepts they solve reliably and where they struggle. We further analyze the models' internal representations and find clear semantic structure: task representations cluster according to the operations applied to objects, such as recoloring, removal, or translation, even when realized through substantially different rules and scenarios. Together, our results suggest that models form stable abstractions of transformation operations that generalize across diverse tasks.

Dexterous Robotic Hands in the Foundation-Model Era: A Full-Stack Survey of Hardware, Data, Cross-Embodiment Transfer, Learning, and Evaluation

Ji Pei

原文摘要

Dexterous robotic hands are increasingly coupled to large-scale human data and foundation models, yet progress in hardware, representation learning and evaluation is often assessed separately. This survey reviews work from January 2024 to early November 2026, with earlier studies included to establish technical lineages. We organize the literature into five interdependent layers: hardware; data collection and curation; cross-embodiment transfer; learning and foundation models; and evaluation and applications. Human hand-object understanding and tactile sensing provide two cross-cutting perspectives. A system-level architecture, comparative tables and five case analyses connect design choices across these layers. We distinguish within-study experimental comparisons from heterogeneous corpus statistics, vendor specifications and company-reported results. Three conclusions emerge. First, the value of human data depends on kinematic, visual and contact alignment, not recording volume alone. Second, shared action representations and foundation policies do not remove embodiment-specific constraints on force, latency and contact. Third, task completion is insufficient to establish physical correctness or deployment readiness. Evidence remains limited for zero-shot transfer of contact-rich skills between morphologically different hands, long-duration reliability, and cross-sensor tactile generalization. We identify eleven open problems and propose reporting interfaces and controlled comparisons that can make full-stack progress more measurable. The review is a structured narrative synthesis rather than a pooled performance ranking or an exhaustive systematic review.

MONET: A Massive, Open, Non-redundant and Enriched Text-to-image dataset

原文摘要

Training large text-to-image models requires high-quality, curated datasets with diverse content and detailed captions. Yet the cost and complexity of collecting, filtering, deduplicating, and re-captioning such corpora at scale hinder open and reproducible research in the field. We introduce MONET, an open Apache 2.0 dataset of 103.8M image-text pairs collected from 2.9B raw pairs across heterogeneous open sources through successive stages of safety filtering, domain-based filtering, exact and near-duplicate removal, and re-captioning with multiple vision-language models covering short to long-form descriptions, and further augmented with synthetically generated samples. Each image is shipped with pre-computed embeddings and annotations to accelerate downstream use. To validate the effectiveness of MONET, we train a 4B-parameter latent diffusion model exclusively on it and reach competitive GenEval and DPG scores, demonstrating that our dataset lowers the barrier to large-scale, reproducible text-to-image research.

Reasoning over Non-Parametric Memory in Multilingual LLMs: A Cognitive-Based Analysis of Relational Knowledge

Zohreh Abbasi Liasi, Batoul Hammoud, Anas Madkoor, Ehsaneddin Asgari

原文摘要

Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) assumes that language models can reason over relations stated in their context rather than fall back on associations memorized during pretraining. We study this evidence-conditioned relational reasoning in isolation, with the facts supplied directly in the prompt rather than retrieved. \textsc{Rel-Bloom} is a controlled multilingual diagnostic of 450 multiple-choice questions built from 30 Wikidata relations; the same source relations are instantiated at five Bloom-inspired levels (Remember, Understand, Apply, Analyze, Evaluate) and under three veracity conditions (Factual, Counterfactual, Neutralized). Across 43 models, six languages, and two multilingual settings (226,800 predictions), three findings stand out. First, accuracy drops sharply from Apply to Analyze in every evaluated open-weight model series, reaching 47.2 percentage points for the Large Granite bucket, but not for either Gemini model. Second, Evaluate items remain a bottleneck even for models near ceiling on the other task types: Gemini~3.1 Pro averages 99.5\% on the other four levels but 60.7\% on Evaluate. Third, item- and relation-level difficulty rankings are consistently preserved across languages, indicating a difficulty structure partly shared across languages within this benchmark. Across knowledge conditions, Counterfactual contexts are generally harder than Factual ones, while removing entity identities can improve higher-level performance in some model regimes. Greater model capability therefore does not by itself ensure reliable reasoning over supplied relational evidence. Beyond the principle-practice gap: Responsible AI as situated epistemic and ethical practice

Thao Do Ngoc, Emma Carmel

原文摘要

Responsible AI scholarship has found that ethical principles are frequently not reflected in AI design and development. Conceptualised as a `gap' between principle and practice, this is framed as a problem of implementation, awareness or compliance, and by implication, a deficit of systems or individual behaviour. This paper sets out an alternative explanation. Drawing on fourteen semi-structured interviews with actors designing and governing AI-enabled anti-trafficking systems across law enforcement, commercial, research, and survivor-support contexts, it argues that such apparent gaps emerge from the varied and complex institutional and professional conditions through which actors come to recognise some issues, but not others, as ethical problems requiring action. We show that epistemic choices are intertwined with ethical judgements, and trace four interconnected moments---perception, judgement, situated action and socio-technical materialisation---through which concerns become intelligible, are weighed and acted upon, and are embedded in technical artefacts and governance arrangements. Actors often hold genuine ethical commitments, but these commitments are shaped by institutional logics and professional moral economies: some concerns are materialised, while others are narrowed, deferred or left unrealised. We show that ethical agency is exercised within and between competing constraints of profession, role, prior experience, and institutional settings. The paper argues that responsible AI governance requires purposeful and well-developed epistemic infrastructures that can cut across these constraints to establish institutional conditions through which the knowledge of affected communities and potential harms becomes receivable and actionable in design.
