From Logs to Faults: Reference-Free Fault Localization for Retrieval-Augmented Generation Pipelines

Hira Naveed, Scott Barnett, Stefanus Kurniawan, John Grundy, Chetan Arora, Hourieh Khalajzadeh, Omar Haggag

原文摘要

Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines are widely used for domain-specific question answering, yet locating faults remains manual and time-consuming. Fault localization is challenging because RAG pipelines consist of interdependent stages, where faults can propagate downstream, masking their origin, or remain undetected even when the final answer is correct. Existing evaluation approaches often focus on individual stages and rely on reference answers or code instrumentation. We present RAGLog, which detects and localizes faults across RAG stages using execution logs, without requiring reference answers or code instrumentation. RAGLog transforms heterogeneous API logs into a common RAG schema and combines rule-based, embedding-based, and LLM-based checks to identify faulty stages. We introduce a live fault injector and RAGLog Faults, a dataset of 3,134 runs from five RAG pipelines with stage-level fault labels. With Claude Haiku 5.5, RAGLog achieves a pooled F1 score of 0.73 on runs with naturally occurring faults, outperforming Claude Code (0.58) and Codex (0.52), and comparable effectiveness on runs with injected faults (0.84 versus 0.80 and 0.82, respectively). It analyzes runs in approximately five seconds at US\$0.005 each, with overall lower cost and latency than agent baselines. RAGLog is available as an open-source tool for debugging, evaluating, and monitoring RAG pipelines.

Hybrid++: The Bridge between PDE Models and Deep Learning for Gamma Noise Removal

Mahipal Jetta, Sujato Dutta

原文摘要

Multiplicative gamma noise is one of the dominant noise factors in Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and medical ultrasound images. They are dependent on pixel level noises due to which they are highly varying across the image and harder to handle as compared to additive noise. The denoising methods to address this noise currently include classical partial differential equation (PDE) methods which are good for interpretation but lack the restoration ability as compared to the state-of-the-art models while deep neural networks like DnCNN achieve high performance but at the cost of transparency due to which practitioners are skeptical to use them in high-risk critical fields like medicine. This paper presents Hybrid++, a novel trainable nonlinear reaction-diffusion architecture that addresses both the concerns - staying interpretable while offering performance close to huge black-box models. It combines a fully learnable PDE initialization with a 3-stage reaction-diffusion network having 64-channel multiscale filter banks, 4-layer Squeeze-and-Excitation attention-based influence functions and a 64-dimensional noise level embedding. It uses a two-phase training strategy, stage-wise optimization followed by joint end-to-end refinement which enables co-adaptation of all learnable parameters. On the FoE benchmark, Hybrid++ substantially improves over classical PDE, BM3D and the original TNRD baselines. In the severe-noise setting L=1, it comes within 0.23 dB PSNR of a separately trained DnCNN while using only about 8% of its parameters.

Evolving Memory, Learning to Meta-Control: Test-Time Adaptation for Experience-augmented LLM Agents

Zeyuan Zhao, Yuanyuan Shi, Peng Yu, Lingyue Fu, Shao Zhang, Ying Wen

原文摘要

Self-evolving agents accumulate experience from task streams, but existing frameworks typically rely on fixed pipelines to retrieve and utilize this experience, neglecting when and how to deploy it. We introduce Online Meta-Control of Experience (OMCE), a framework that updates experience memory and learns a meta-control policy from task feedback during test-time adaptation. OMCE employs a lightweight contextual-bandit meta-controller that uses compact retrieval signals to select among four cognitive actions: DIRECT, EPISODE, GUIDE, and DISTILL. This routing mechanism operationalizes three coupled decisions: whether to invoke experience, which memory format to utilize, and when to consolidate new guidance. OMCE evolves online, leveraging task feedback to update the memory bank and refine the routing policy via contextual bandit updates. Experiments on four online adaptation benchmarks across four backbones show that OMCE improves first-attempt success by up to 20.5 percentage points over the strongest compared baseline, while reducing per-task token use by a factor of 5.7 to 62.5 relative to ACE with GPT-5.2. Controlled ablations further support the benefits of learned routing and continued routing policy adaptation.

原文摘要

Multimodal large language models (MLLMs) hold immense potential to revolutionize clinical practice, yet deploying them in the medical domain is fundamentally a vision-centric challenge: models must absorb knowledge from heterogeneous 2D and 3D medical images, and evaluation protocols must align with radiologists' clinical practice and provide an accurate, fine-grained and factualness-driven assessment. In this paper, we introduce ClinFusion, a vision-centric MLLM designed for holistic medical understanding that systematically addresses these limitations. We propose a compositional and cascaded vision encoder architecture featuring a Cascade Spatial-Aware Locality Fusion operator that unifies diverse 2D and native 3D medical image understanding within a fused encoder. We further introduce a vision-grounded evaluation framework, including MedIF-Bench for instruction-following assessment and a region-of-interest-grounded method for clinically aligned and factualness-driven report generation evaluation. We show that ClinFusion sets a new state-of-the-art across a comprehensive suite of 2D and 3D multimodal medical benchmarks---spanning visual question answering, report generation, and instruction following---as well as textual medical tasks, outperforming leading open-source medical MLLMs (\textit{e.g.}, Hulu-Med, Lingshu) on 20 out of 24 benchmarks and demonstrating multimodal capabilities better than powerful proprietary models such as GPT-5.2 and Gemini-3-Flash on 13 out of 16 benchmarks, and can be further augmented with agentic tool use for retrieval-augmented and tool-assisted clinical workflows. A blinded evaluation by board-certified radiologists confirms that ClinFusion produces the highest-ranked reports, and validates our RoI-grounded metric as achieving the strongest correlation with expert judgment among all automatic evaluation metrics examined.

Robust EEG-based Emotion Recognition from Coarse Trial-level Labels under Intra-trial Affective Variability

Xiaocong Zeng, Buxuan Wang, Xin Yang, Pei Huang, Dongyang Kuang

原文摘要

EEG-based emotion recognition has become an active research area in brain-computer interfaces. However, fine-grained affective annotation is costly, so most datasets provide only a global label for each long EEG trial. For practical emotion recognition, trials are commonly divided into short temporal windows, with the global label propagated to all windows for training. This practice treats trial-level emotion as temporally uniform, although affective responses may fluctuate within a trial. Consequently, windows that weakly reflect or deviate from the global emotional state may receive unreliable labels, posing a key challenge to robust EEG-based emotion recognition. To address this challenge, we propose VARY, a variability-aware robust learning framework for EEG-based emotion recognition from coarse trial-level labels. VARY incorporates a Two-stage Sample Selection (TSS) strategy to identify EEG windows with reliable emotional labels, and introduces MixAug, a data augmentation method tailored for EEG to improve model robustness under limited and unreliable supervision. We comprehensively evaluate VARY under the setting of label-noise learning on two public datasets, using three network architectures and multiple label-noise settings. Our method demonstrates superior performance, achieving a maximum accuracy gain of 11.54% on the DREAMER dataset and 5.39% on the SEED dataset compared with the best-performing baseline, highlighting the effectiveness of VARY in learning from unreliable trial-level labels under intra-trial affective variability.

原文摘要

Large language model (LLM)-based multi-agent systems (MAS) tackle challenging tasks by dividing work among agents and coordinating their contributions toward shared objectives. Evaluating these systems therefore requires benchmarks that assess not only task-solving performance but also the ability to handle interdependent work. However, existing benchmarks often emphasize task difficulty without substantial collaboration requirements or evaluate only a limited range of predefined collaboration patterns. In this paper, we introduce MAC-Bench, a comprehensive benchmark for evaluating multi-agent collaboration through interconnected tasks. Rather than imposing predefined agent roles or communication protocols, MAC-Bench embeds collaboration requirements directly into task dependencies and shared-resource constraints. Specifically, we mine reusable collaboration structures from selected benchmark tasks at two levels. Local collaboration patterns capture recurring interactions among subtasks, while global task structures characterize how these interactions contribute to complete workflows. Through coarse-to-fine composition, these structures are recombined into task graphs combining different collaboration requirements. Tasks are instantiated in executable environments with automated verification of partial progress and complete task resolution.

Delivered, Not Used: Evaluating Agent Memory at Its Point of Use

Changran Xu, Zeju Li, Qiang Xu

原文摘要

Task success, retrieval quality, and cost do not show whether an LLM agent used a delivered memory or what followed from that use. We introduce MemUse, which evaluates memory at its point of use in recorded trajectories: each memory delivery is compared with what the agent could already see and followed through the agent's later actions and their consequences. An agentic judge rates each delivered entry's relevance, accuracy, novelty, influence, and observed effect; programmatic checks enforce complete reading of cited evidence, and fixed rules aggregate the ratings into verdicts linked to memory histories and delivery cost. On 8,000 SWE-bench Verified episodes from three memory systems, resolve rates stay within 0.4 percentage points of a no-memory baseline, yet MemUse shows that most delivered entries were irrelevant, most relevant entries went unused, and in two systems most deliveries restated content the agent could still see. It also surfaces effects that outcomes hide: 23.2\% of episodes with beneficial memory use still failed, and 5 of 16 with harmful use still succeeded.

Route-Guided CBF-QP Repair for Safe Vision-Language-Action Models

Chan Park, Sunwoo Hong, Kirak Kim, Yoonjeong Park, Alexander W. Olson, Ali Pesaranghader

原文摘要

Vision-language-action (VLA) models can generate task-oriented robot actions, but they do not guarantee safe execution in obstacle-rich manipulation scenes. Although CBF-QP safety filters can locally project unsafe actions into a safe set, such correction may push the robot away from the learned task trajectory and leave the VLA policy without a reliable recovery direction. We propose Route-Guided CBF-QP Repair, a post-hoc repair module that uses the short-horizon action chunk predicted by the VLA to detect blocked nominal trajectories and generate entry-exit-rejoin guidance around obstacles. The selected route is added to the CBF-QP objective as a soft guidance term, while the CBF safety constraint remains hard. On SafeLIBERO, our method improves collision avoidance, task success, and SafeSuccess compared with AEGIS. Our project page is available at GitHub.

CST: Lightweight Risk Triage with Source-Grounded Evidence for Web Discussions

Zhihua Wang, Yifeng Gao, Yunhao Feng, Rui Pan, Baiheng Zhao, Zixing Chen, Nan Li

原文摘要

Web communities rely on moderators to catch harmful messages such as insults, hate speech, and scams, but no one can read every message. Existing tools give each message a risk score, which tells moderators where to look but not what to read or how to check it. Yet meaning depends on context: the same reply, "I agree.", can support or oppose removing someone from a group. Moderators therefore need source-grounded evidence, not just scores: a few key messages kept with their original wording and replies. We present CST, a lightweight triage pipeline that first decides where to look, then what to show. It scores risk by pairing character patterns, which capture exact wording, with sentence meaning from a fixed multilingual model, so it handles several languages and runs on an ordinary CPU. It then groups related messages and picks from each group in turn, so a small reading budget covers different parts of a discussion, and links every pick back to the original thread. Across six tasks from five datasets in several languages, CST ranks harmful messages more accurately than a fully fine-tuned multilingual model and, under the same budget, finds more of them than reading by score alone. In a user study, reviewers needed at least 27% less time with CST's grouped evidence while keeping decision accuracy above 94%. CST turns risk scores into evidence that moderators can read quickly and check in context. Code and dataset reconstruction resources will be released at https://github.com/Kirito14IT/CST-MIL.

ActionFlow: A Pipelined Action Acceleration for Vision Language Models on Edge

原文摘要

Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models have emerged as a unified paradigm for robotic perception and control, enabling emergent generalization and long-horizon task execution. However, their deployment in dynamic, real-world environments is severely hindered by high inference latency. While smooth robotic interaction requires control frequencies of 20-30 Hz, current VLA models typically operate at only 3-5 Hz on edge devices due to the memory-bound nature of autoregressive decoding. Existing optimizations often require extensive retraining or compromise model accuracy. To bridge this gap, we introduce ActionFlow, a system-level inference framework tailored for resource-constrained edge platforms. At the core of ActionFlow is a Cross-Request Pipelining strategy, a novel scheduler that redefines VLA inference as a macro-pipeline of micro-requests. The strategy intelligently batches memory-bound Decode phases with compute-bound Prefill phases across continuous time steps to maximize hardware utilization. Furthermore, to support this scheduling, we propose a Cross-Request State Packed Forward operator and a Unified KV Ring Buffer, which fuse fragmented memory operations into efficient dense computations. Experimental results demonstrate that ActionFlow achieves a 2.55x improvement in FPS on the OpenVLA-7B model without retraining, enabling real-time dynamic manipulation on edge hardware. 原文摘要

Auto-harness systems improve LLM agents by adapting prompts, skills, tools, and supporting infrastructure from execution feedback. Sustaining these gains on open-ended task streams requires handling growing histories, heterogeneous tasks, and shifting distributions. We introduce Adaptive Auto-Harness, a unified framework that separates persistent evolution workspaces from deployable harnesses and supports interchangeable evolution procedures. We compare configurations adapted from five prior approaches on recorded streams of prediction markets, security challenges, and event forecasts. With the same Sonnet solver, our full system reaches 80.9\% market all-task accuracy and 50.2\% security Pass@1, versus 22.2\% and 37.2\% without evolution; market accuracy also exceeds a market-following control's 72.0\%. Our analyses show that artifact accumulation does not guarantee sustained gains, and knowledge that transfers across tasks can still lose value as the task distribution changes. Continued evolution can therefore help preserve earlier gains through revision of accumulated knowledge. Code: https://github.com/A-EVO-Lab/a-evolve.

SMART-AIMC: Sensitivity-Aware Mixed ADC Resolution with Fine-Grained Tunability for Analog In-Memory Computing

Yung-Chin Chen, Ourania Stouraiti, Naveen Verma

原文摘要

Analog In-Memory Computing (IMC) is a promising paradigm for accelerating GEMM-based AI workloads by executing computations directly within the memory array in the analog domain. While IMC delivers substantial energy and throughput improvements, it can suffer from significant task accuracy degradation due to analog-to-digital converter (ADC) quantization noise, which occurs at the GEMM output and is thus different from weight/activation quantization, which occurs at the GEMM input. Mixed ADC resolution allows IMC modules to choose between high- and low-resolution ADC modes with different energy costs, offering a compelling accuracy-energy trade-off. However, selecting ADC resolutions across IMC units while respecting hardware granularity constraints remains challenging. In this paper, we propose SMART-AIMC, a Sensitivity-aware Mixed ADC Resolution framework with fine-grained Tunability for Analog In-Memory Computing. SMART-AIMC correlates the algorithmic task loss to hardware ADC quantization noise in the form of an ADC Channel Sensitivity (ACS) metric. Using this metric, SMART-AIMC systematically, and in a disciplined manner, allocates ADC resources to critical computations. Furthermore, we introduce a sensitivity-based channel reordering scheme that overcomes the hardware granularity constraints with no runtime overhead and approaches the optimal ADC quantization possible for the model. Evaluated across diverse workloads, SMART-AIMC unlocks a superior accuracy-energy Pareto frontier, providing (1) higher task accuracy at matched energy budgets and (2) fine-grained tuning across efficiency targets, from aggressive energy savings to near-digital inference accuracy. At the latter operating point, SMART-AIMC achieves $6.99\times$ higher modeled system-level energy efficiency for linear projections than the INT8 digital baseline with negligible accuracy degradation.

MatMoE: Matryoshka Mixture-of-Experts with Dynamic Mixed-Precision Quantization for Efficient Inference

Renjie Wei, Haochen Huang, Chuyu Qiu, Jinqi Wen, Dehao Xu, Meng Li

原文摘要

Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) architecture has been widely adopted in large language models (LLMs) since it reduces the computational cost through sparse expert activation. However, the massive parameter scale of MoE models hinders their deployment on resource-constrained edge devices. Although existing mixed-precision quantization reduces the model size, they are inherently static, fixing the bit-width of each expert across decoding steps. Such static schemes yield suboptimal performance as they overlook the dynamic variation in expert importance during decoding. Furthermore, they fail to adapt to the dynamic latency constraint driven by the fluctuating system utilization. To address these challenges, we propose MatMoE, a dynamic mixed-precision quantization framework for efficient MoE inference. MatMoE features: (1) a Matryoshka MoE PTQ algorithm that enables experts to operate flexibly at multiple precisions within a stringent memory budget; (2) a floor-and-compensation quantization method that eliminates redundant memory accesses in the Matryoshka representation; and (3) a dynamic bit-width allocation strategy that determines the precision for each expert based on their routing scores to satisfy the dynamic latency requirement. We implement our MatMoE system atop llama.cpp for both CPU and GPU platforms. Extensive evaluations across three modern MoE models and challenging benchmarks demonstrate that MatMoE achieves $4.0\% \sim 18.3\%$ higher accuracy than state-of-the-art static mixed-precision method. Compared to llama.cpp, MatMoE delivers $1.3\times \sim 3.7\times$ speedup on Raspberry Pi 5, and $1.2\times \sim 1.3\times$ speedup on NVIDIA RTX 4090 and Jetson AGX Orin.

Just-in-Time Skill Retrieval via Long-Horizon State Tracking

Xin Lin, Ziheng Wang, Zerui Chen, Jiayao Ma, Zhimin Wei, Bingshuai Liu, Buchao Zhan, Qinggang Zhang 等 9 位作者

原文摘要

Large language model (LLM) agents increasingly rely on external skill libraries to support complex task execution. However, determining which skills are needed remains challenging in long-horizon tasks. Existing methods typically select a fixed skill set before execution, implicitly assuming that a task's procedural requirements can be determined from its initial description. This assumption is restrictive for long-horizon interaction, where new requirements emerge from intermediate observations, execution outcomes, and newly revealed constraints. This motivates just-in-time skill retrieval, which dynamically selects skills as execution unfolds. Just-in-time skill retrieval is promising but challenging: the utility of a skill depends not only on the current context, but also on the evolving task state shaped by prior steps. To this end, we propose JitSkill, a state-grounded framework that addresses this challenge through continuous task-state tracking. By connecting emerging requirements with accumulated task progress, JitSkill provides procedural support throughout execution without treating each retrieval decision independently. Experiments across three agent benchmarks demonstrate its effectiveness in improving long-horizon task completion. Our code is available at https://github.com/XMUDeepLIT/JitSkill.git/.

MemHarmBench: Evaluating Cross-Session Prompt Injection in Memory-Persistent AI Agents

Zhihua Wang, Yunhao Feng, Yifeng Gao, Rui Pan, Baiheng Zhao, Zixing Chen, Xingjun Ma

原文摘要

AI agents often rely on persistent memory to retain user preferences and operational rules across sessions. However, this capability introduces a new safety risk: malicious instructions from messages, documents, or Web content can be retained in memory and influence future tasks even after the original attack content is removed. Existing attack success metrics, however, fail to capture who is affected and how attacks translate into downstream harm during otherwise normal task execution. We introduce MemHarmBench, a victim-centric benchmark for evaluating cross-session prompt injection in memory-persistent AI agents. MemHarmBench considers three categories of potential victims: users, workspace/project owners, and external stakeholders. Our evaluation first exposes an agent to malicious instructions and tests whether they are retained in memory. We then remove the attack content and initiate a new session with a legitimate task while preserving the agent's memory. We jointly evaluate whether the agent follows the attacker's intent, completes the legitimate task, and exhibits observable execution anomalies. Across multiple agent systems, we find that cross-session attacks can remain behaviorally stealthy: agents often complete tasks normally and exhibit no detectable anomalies while still making critical decisions aligned with the attacker's intent. By connecting malicious memory retention to downstream decisions and affected parties, MemHarmBench provides a systematic framework for exposing safety risks that conventional attack- and task-success metrics may overlook. We publicly release MemHarmBench at https://github.com/Kirito14IT/MemHarmBench.

SPAR: Experience-Driven Strategy Evolution in Multi-Session B2B Sales

Hangming Zhang, Yao Zhao, Haotian Kuang, C. L. Philip Chen, Tong Zhang, Tengyue Ma

原文摘要

B2B outbound sales involves high transaction values and relationship-based trust, so closing a deal typically requires multiple rounds of outreach building on prior context. Existing LLM-based sales agents operate within single sessions and cannot carry forward context or refine strategies from experience. Methods that do learn from experience store lessons as unstructured text and treat all outcomes as equally informative, with no mechanism to distinguish a flawed strategy from an external factor. We propose SPAR, a self-evolving framework that models selling strategies as testable hypotheses and refines them without parameter updates. A double-loop architecture lets an inner loop adapt to individual merchants through episodic memory while an outer loop evolves a shared strategy playbook through causal attribution and hypothesis-driven evolution. In a live A/B test on the 1688 platform with over 200,000 merchants, SPAR achieves +15.8% conversion lift and +35.8% high-intent merchant growth. Human evaluation by domain experts rates SPAR at 4.62 out of 5 on overall sales quality, the highest among all methods.

Calibrated Generative AI as Meta-Reviewer: A Systemic Functional Linguistics Discourse Analysis of Reviews of Peer Reviews

Gabriela C. Zapata, Bill Cope, Mary Kalantzis, Duane Searsmith

原文摘要

This study investigates the use of generative AI to support formative assessment through machine-generated reviews of peer reviews in graduate online courses at a public university in the United States. The analysis draws on Systemic Functional Linguistics and Appraisal Theory to examine how 120 metareviews construct meaning across ideational and interpersonal dimensions as well as the textual dimension. The findings suggest that generative AI can approximate key rhetorical and relational features of effective human feedback by providing clear direction while maintaining a supportive stance. The reviews demonstrated a balance between praise and constructive critique alongside alignment with rubric expectations and structured staging that foregrounded student agency. By modeling these qualities AI metafeedback has the potential to scaffold feedback literacy and enhance learner engagement with peer review. We conclude that carefully calibrated AI can contribute to hybrid human AI feedback ecosystems when embedded in thoughtfully designed workflows. However its effective integration into educational practice requires critical attention to its limitations and adaptation to specific educational contexts.

Phase-wise MLLM Tuning for Multi-framework WebUI Code Generation

Haoran Ma, Linxiao Li, Chenyue Wang, Haochen Sui, Jiechao Gao

原文摘要

Multimodal large language models (MLLMs) achieve strong performance in translating WebUI screenshots into HTML/CSS. However, when they faced multiple frameworks (React/Vue/Angular), they often suffer from negative transfer that leads to compilation failures. These failures commonly stem from mixing framework specific syntax and violating framework constraints. This paper studies supervised fine-tuning for multi-framework WebUI code generation and proposes a phase-wise MLLM tuning method driven by compatibility and heterogeneity signals across frameworks. We first apply a normalization mapping that preserves each framework's native syntax while suppressing noise from variable naming and literal content. We then estimate cross framework heterogeneity and compatibility offline, and automatically derive training groups and their ordering by maximizing a phased objective. Finally, we perform phase-wise adapter tuning to reduce cross framework interference. Experiments on multiple benchmarks show that our proposed method improves both generation quality and compilation success rate compared with baselines.

StretchTime: Adaptive Time Series Forecasting via Symplectic Attention

Yubin Kim, Viresh Pati, Jevon Twitty, Vinh Pham, Shihao Yang, Jiecheng Lu

原文摘要

Transformer architectures have established strong baselines in time series forecasting, yet they typically rely on positional encodings that assume uniform, index-based temporal progression. However, real-world systems, from shifting financial cycles to elastic biological rhythms, frequently exhibit "time-warped" dynamics where the effective flow of time decouples from the sampling index. In this work, we first formalize this misalignment and prove that rotary position embedding (RoPE) is mathematically incapable of representing non-affine temporal warping. To address this, we propose Symplectic Positional Embeddings (SyPE), a learnable encoding framework derived from Hamiltonian mechanics. SyPE strictly generalizes RoPE by extending the rotation group $\mathrm{SO}(2)$ to the symplectic group $\mathrm{Sp}(2,\mathbb{R})$, modulated by a novel input-dependent adaptive warp module. By allowing the attention mechanism to adaptively dilate or contract temporal coordinates end-to-end, our approach captures locally varying periodicities without requiring pre-defined warping functions. We implement this mechanism in StretchTime, a multivariate forecasting architecture that achieves state-of-the-art performance on standard benchmarks, demonstrating superior robustness on datasets exhibiting non-stationary temporal dynamics.

原文摘要

We present Xiaomi Auto World Model 2.0, a unified streaming causal world model for Physical AI. It models and generates causal physical evolution in the real world, and unifies heterogeneous conditioning inputs for view-consistent generation. The architecture integrates View-Temporal Attention (VTA) to capture cross-view spatial dependencies and temporal dynamics, together with Multi-view Rotary Position Encoding (RoPE) to encode positional relationships across views and time. WorldRec 2.0 reconstructs static and dynamic 3D Gaussians from multi-view, multi-temporal observations in a single forward pass and uses their renderings as explicit scene context to preserve geometry and appearance during long-horizon generation. Conditioning inputs are fused through VAE latent concatenation in a shared representation space. We incorporate Gated Linear Attention (GLA) into the temporal layers of VTA for efficient streaming inference, reducing computation and KV-cache memory during multi-view rollouts. A physical-interaction data pipeline covers diverse interactions and long-tailed events. From Pre-train onward, these data are combined with large-scale videos and heterogeneous visual modalities to learn visual, geometric, and dynamic priors. During Mid-train, training across diverse view configurations further improves the model's ability to capture how actions and object states shape subsequent scene evolution. After distillation-based Post-train, we apply the model to closed-loop simulation, closed-loop training, and World Action Model (WAM) applications. These applications generate physically consistent future states and support world-state prediction, policy learning, and action generation for Physical AI.

原文摘要

Amid concerns that generative AI may standardize art interpretation, this paper examines whether LLM-based interaction can support plural art-historical narrative construction. We present Sanyu Studio, a multi-agent dialogue system that models 321 Sanyu oil paintings as agents with fact, interpretation, organization, and memory-filtering mechanisms. Based on a seven-day workshop with eight art-university participants, the study shows that user prompts, evidence organization, and cognitive tendencies shaped divergent yet coherent versions of digital Sanyu. The findings suggest that, under conditions of limited historical evidence, AI can amplify human agency and offer public audiences an interactive entry point into art-historical interpretation.

Map Users and Mapmakers: The Scope of Cognitive Attribution from Acquired Representations

Yiling Wu

原文摘要

An acquired representation can enlarge a system's cognitive repertoire without transferring the capacities exercised in producing that representation. This paper develops a framework for specifying that enlargement and its limits. Its central contribution is a five-part attribution table distinguishing effective tracking, application of acquired structures, acquisition from explicit specifications, acquisition from identifying observations, and retention and reuse. Each entry identifies a positive capacity commitment and a further claim requiring additional support. The argument deliberately grants meaningful content, causal efficacy, and productive inference, so that its conclusion does not depend on treating representations as inert encodings. Map and category examples show why even complete application competence leaves acquisition capacity undetermined, and why acquiring a criterion from its description differs from finding it in examples. Short formal proofs appear in an appendix. The framework is applied to Andrew Ng's world-model interpretation of Othello-GPT and to the specific indicators discussed in contemporary accounts of machine concepts. It preserves demonstrated recognition, classification, inference, and qualified acquisition while specifying what remains unestablished about criterion discovery and accumulation. The result concerns the scope of cognitive attribution rather than the constitutive conditions of concept possession: cognitive achievements deserve credit for the capacities they establish, without silently importing a broader repertoire through the labels attached to them.

The Presupposition Problem in Representation Genesis

Yiling Wu

原文摘要

Large language models are the first systems to achieve high cognitive performance without clearly undergoing representation genesis: the transition from a non-representing physical system to one whose states guide behavior in a content-sensitive way. Prior cognitive systems had already made this transition before we could examine it, and philosophy of mind treated genesis as a background condition rather than an explanatory target. LLMs provide a case that does not clearly involve this transition, making the genesis question newly urgent: if genesis did not occur, which cognitive capacities are affected, and why? We currently lack the conceptual resources to answer this. The reason, this paper argues, is structural. Major frameworks in philosophy of mind, including the Language of Thought hypothesis, teleosemantics, predictive processing, enactivism, and genetic phenomenology, share a common feature when applied to the genesis question: at some explanatory step, each deploys concepts whose explanatory purchase depends on the system already being organized as a representer. This pattern, which we call the Representation Presupposition structure, generates systematic explanatory deferral. Attempts to explain the first acquisition of content-manipulable representation within the existing categorical vocabulary import resources from the representational side of the transition itself. We call this the Representation Regress. The paper offers a conceptual diagnosis rather than a new theory, establishing the structure of the problem and deriving two minimum adequacy conditions for any account that avoids this pattern. LLMs make the absence of such a theory consequential rather than merely theoretical.

A Hybrid Anomaly Detection Method for Multivariate Time Series

Ali Babalhavaeji, Hui Song, Mahdi Jalili

原文摘要

Multivariate time series are ubiquitous in monitoring smart systems such as power plants, smart houses, and servers. These systems use multiple sensors to collect the system's status over time. Those sensors represent the status of the whole system as one entity. Anomaly detection in such smart systems is of critical importance to prevent system failure and maintain functionality. But anomaly detection in such multivariate time series data is very challenging since this type of data includes both temporal and spatial information. Capturing both of these pieces of information is important to detect anomalies. In this paper, we propose a hybrid deep learning-based anomaly detection method, which captures both temporal and spatial information. We propose to take advantage of the feature extraction capabilities of 2d convolutional network in a variational autoencoder, alongside a prediction-based deep neural network of 2d convolutional networks and a gated recurrent unit network to capture both spatial and temporal information. Experiments on public data against state-of-the-art show the potential of our method.

Representational Acquisition Under Bounded Resources

Yiling Wu

原文摘要

A learner's obligation to keep acquired content usable imposes a storage-access tradeoff, with exact endpoints that force different physical organizations. For an exact concept-learning task, we determine the storage-read curve within a constant factor. One-read compound queries force answer-specific cells and exponentially costly updates; one-bit, order-independent updates instead force fact-specific cells. At minimum storage capacity, a robust counterpart holds: when update stretch is averaged uniformly over all semantic cube edges, small excess stretch bounds expected distance from a coordinate encoding under the uniform content distribution. It also bounds the information inaccessible to a one-read consumer. Preservation imposes further constraints. On a common invariant ready-state domain, old content preserved by ordinary zero-read overwrites must factor through the unwritten coordinates. Distributed encodings can require reading every cell to choose a preserving update. For conditional Horn reasoning, we obtain a second pair of exact endpoints: maintaining answers makes use local, while minimum storage and one-change named revision force a rule vector whose optimal query-read cost is determined exactly. These results explain how acquired distinctions, subsequent uses, and update constraints jointly determine the costs and organization of a retained resource.

A Hybrid Anomaly Detection Method for Electric Vehicle Identification from Smart Meter Recordings

Ali Babalhavaeji, Hui Song, Mohammadreza Radmanesh, Mahdi Jalili

原文摘要

In recent years, electric vehicles (EVs) have attracted much attention due to their potential to decarbonize the transport system. EV charging imposes challenges on power grids, such as load imbalance and voltage instability. Therefore, electricity distributors need to identify which users have an EV. Smart meter recordings can be effectively used for this purpose. The major issue associated with such data is the imbalance problem, where the majority of the data belongs to users without EVs. The existing methods for EV identification from smart meter recordings have framed it as a classification task. In this paper, we frame the problem as an unsupervised problem and propose a hybrid anomaly detection method that combines the power of prediction-based and reconstruction-based anomaly detection methods. The proposed model considers temporal and stochastic representation information of smart meter time series via prediction-based and reconstruction-based components, respectively. The performance of the proposed model is compared with state-of-the-art supervised and unsupervised methods. Its superiority is verified on real-world data.

dKV Forcing: Separating Generation and Memory Representations through a Differentiable KV Cache

Zhiqi Li, Bo Zhu

原文摘要

A causal video generator produces two key--value (KV) states for every segment: the KV it uses while denoising that segment, and the KV it writes into the cache for later segments to read. In a pretrained generator the two already differ substantially, later segments attend to them differently, and replacing the written KV with the generation KV degrades the continuation. We propose dKV Forcing (dKV denotes differentiable KV) to learn a dedicated memory representation from its future use: a writer-specific low-rank residual on the shared backbone separates memory writing from generation and is trained through the future reads of what it writes. Learning a write from its future use needs gradients through the cache, which the mutable cache in common use cannot provide. dKV Forcing replaces the training-time cache by persistent differentiable pages with local rematerialization and, in one temporal traversal, computes exactly the gradient that a two-pass reconstruction of the same objective computes. One traversal computes the full memory gradient at $7\%$ generator-update overhead over detached-write training, with $28\%$ less resident memory and $20.8\%$ shorter training cycles than the two-pass reconstruction. Over Self Gradient Forcing (SGF), the same objective trained with the same traversal, writer adaptation raises VBench-Long aesthetic quality by $6.6$ points at 60\,s and $8.5$ points at 240\,s with the highest subject and background consistency, and rollout dropout of the residual keeps most of this gain while restoring the motion of training without write gradients.

CREDO: Evidence-Conditioned Credit Assignment for Temporal Reasoning Agents

Yue Leng, Shengtao Wen, Xiang Chen, Xinyi Zeng, Yu Tian, Sheng-Jun Huang

原文摘要

Temporal Knowledge Graph Question Answering (TKGQA) requires language model agents to retrieve evidence, select relevant facts, and perform multi-step temporal reasoning. However, the trajectory-level outcome signal in GRPO does not explicitly distinguish the quality of intermediate decisions: downstream failures can penalize useful evidence acquisition, while identical rewards in all-failed groups eliminate the relative outcome signal despite differences in intermediate progress. We propose Credit Redistribution with Evidence-Driven Opportunities (CREDO), which uses intermediate evidence to recover local supervision, including in all-failed groups, and determine where outcome supervision acts. CREDO assigns positive stage-level credit through comparisons among rollouts of the same question and uses retained answer overlap as an opportunity proxy to shift part of the outcome-policy weight toward reasoning and answering. The framework preserves terminal rewards and trajectory-level advantages, while redistribution conserves total outcome-policy weight per trajectory. Following the public evaluation protocol of prior work, CREDO raises Overall accuracy from 78.0% to 82.4% and Multiple accuracy from 55.0% to 65.6% on MultiTQ relative to the strongest published baseline in our comparison. On TimelineKGQA, it raises cross-KG accuracy from 30.9% to 36.4% relative to our reproduced baseline via direct transfer to ICEWS Actor under matched training and evaluation settings.

Local or Escalate? Post-Training Expert Routing for Real-Time Duplex Speech Models

Ruoyu He, Jisen Li, Anthony Ji, Changyi Yang, Zetian Li, Runduo Ma, Zhen Zhang, Zhongzhu Zhou

原文摘要

A full-duplex model should answer easy questions immediately, but hard questions often need stronger reasoning, which may require waiting. The challenge is to choose between these paths at the moment the model begins to speak. Recent systems learn related mode decisions through special-token generation inside the dialogue model, coupling routing to turn-taking and temporally annotated full-duplex training. We study a post-training alternative. We freeze MiniCPM-o 4.5, using only its speech input and output, and fit a logistic failure readout on hidden states already available at its native listen-to-speak transition. The resulting gate requires no additional model generation and exposes thresholds that can be retuned without changing the duplex policy. A probe fitted on text-input states also reads the states of spoken questions, including unseen human recordings. On the internal benchmark, selective handoff improves answer accuracy by 27.1 points. Compared with always using the expert, it reduces mean server time to first answer audio by 31.5 percent. It also outperforms matched random routing across external speech question-answering pools, as well as a zero-shot GPT-5.4 mini router that rates the transcribed question. The training recipe also transfers to a second duplex model family. These results show that an existing duplex model can be equipped to answer easy turns immediately and wait for stronger reasoning or fresher knowledge on the turns that need it, without further duplex training.

Benchmarking Vision-Language Models for Urdu Nastaliq Handwriting Recognition

Haseeb Yaqoob, Fatima Azfar, Emaan Arif Khan

原文摘要

Handwritten Urdu is hard to recognize because the cursive Nastaliq script has no fixed baseline and no clear character boundaries. We benchmark six systems on the Urdu Nastaliq Handwritten Dataset (UNHD): Tesseract (default configuration), a script-specific recognizer trained on printed Urdu (UTRNet-Large), two open-source vision-language models (VLMs), and two commercial VLMs. All six systems are evaluated without fine-tuning on 2,465 single-line images (Part A), and the four VLMs receive the same fixed prompt (decoding uses temperature 0 where configurable, except for Claude Sonnet 5, whose decoding cannot be configured). Both commercial VLMs reach lower error than the printed-Urdu recognizer and the open-source VLMs. We do not compare against handwriting-trained recognizers, which would likely do better in-domain; we characterize zero-shot behavior, not state of the art. We also describe three distinct failure modes among the ranked systems. In one of them, a commercial model explicitly declines to transcribe a few very hard-to-read images instead of guessing. In a second study (Part B), VLMs correct the output of a separate OCR system using both the source image and the noisy text. Once separated from each model's own reading ability, the benefit is small on Tesseract's output (0.7% to 7.4%) and larger (17.9% and 21.9%) only for the two commercial correctors given UTRNet's text. It appears to depend on how legible the supplied text already is, and a weaker corrector can make a more legible text worse.
