SVGFaith: A Two-Layer Meta-Evaluation of Faithfulness Metrics for Text-to-SVG Generation

原文摘要

Text-to-SVG systems are commonly evaluated by applying raster-image metrics to rasterised outputs, yet whether these scores capture fine-grained prompt faithfulness remains unclear. We introduce SVGFaith, a two-layer meta-evaluation framework in which the more faithful candidate of each pair is determined by construction or by human judgment. SVGFaith-Diagnostic contains 1,842 controlled contrastive pairs across eight capability axes, split evenly between two directions: two renderings compared against one prompt, and two descriptions compared against one rendering. SVGFaith-Arena contains 1,327 human-annotated comparisons of real generator outputs. On SVGFaith-Diagnostic, CLIP and three other image--text embedding metrics reach at least 0.789 pairwise accuracy on object identity but at most 0.672 on spatial relations and attribute binding, where chance is 0.5. We further introduce SVGFaith-Score, an interpretable pointwise metric. A domain-tuned decomposer turns each prompt into a dependency graph of atomic visual requirements, a visual question answering model scores whether each requirement is satisfied, and a requirement's score is discounted when its prerequisites score low. In addition to the overall score, the per-requirement scores show which requirements are judged unsatisfied and which inherit discounts from their prerequisites. SVGFaith-Score significantly outperforms all nine baselines, including a Qwen3.5-122B-A10B judge, on Arena and in both Diagnostic directions. Code and data: https://github.com/Yukinonooo/SVGFaith.

RI-Prune: Relation and Information Aware Visual Token Pruning for Multi-Image Vision-Language Models

Dongjin Lee, Eunju Lee, Jinhee Jang, Yoonji Lee, Youngbin Kim

原文摘要

Large vision-language models (LVLMs) have recently been extended to handle multiple input images, but this extension dramatically increases the visual token budget, making visual-token pruning not merely an efficiency option but a practical necessity. Existing visual-token pruning methods, primarily designed for the single-image setting, rely on attention-derived saliency signals to estimate per-token importance. However, this attention-centric design transfers poorly to the multi-image regime: it causes substantial performance degradation on multi-image benchmarks, suffers from strong positional bias, and loses discriminative attention signals as the number of input images increases. To test whether attention-selected tokens are truly important for multi-image reasoning, we conduct two complementary causal probes Leave-One-In and Leave-One-Deletion, which measure token importance by restoring individual tokens to a zeroed visual sequence or removing them from the full sequence. Attention-based pruners provide only marginal gains over random selection, showing that attention is a weak proxy for visual-token importance in multi-image reasoning. Motivated by this gap, we propose Relation and Information Aware Pruning (RI-Prune), a training-free, attention-free pre-decoder selector for multi-image visual token pruning. RI-Prune scores each visual token using a z-normalized combination of three signals computed from projector outputs: query relevance, cross-image correspondence with compact per-image prototypes, and intra image representativeness. By integrating these signals, RI-Prune performs balanced per-image Top-K selection to preserve information across input images. Across multiple multi-image benchmarks and three LVLM backbones, RI-Prune achieves a stronger trade-off between token reduction and task performance than prior pruning methods, particularly under aggressive token budgets.

UniRestorer++: Scalable Universal Image Restoration with Multi-Granularity Degradation Modeling

原文摘要

Universal image restoration aims to handle diverse degradations within a single model, but a reliable scaling strategy remains underexplored. Increasing backbone depth and width can lead to performance saturation, while degradation-aware specialization depends on accurate degradation estimation and is vulnerable to errors on out-of-distribution and real-world inputs. We propose UniRestorer++, a scalable framework based on multi-granularity degradation modeling. It progressively refines degradation groups and introduces group-specific experts, coupling capacity growth with specialization. Degradation-estimation-based routing selects a root-to-leaf path, while granularity-estimation-based routing chooses a level along that path to balance specialization and robustness. Spatially dense degradation representation maps further enable region-aware routing for spatially non-uniform corruptions. We develop CDD-50, a benchmark covering 50 degradation categories from single to penta-degradation. Experiments show approximately log-linear PSNR trends over the evaluated model-size range and stronger scaling gains on out-of-distribution and real-world data than vanilla MoE scaling. UniRestorer++ achieves state-of-the-art performance across benchmarks and demonstrates zero-shot generalization and few-shot transfer on real-world images. USI-Brain: Enhancing Underwater Spatial Intelligence via Spatial Data-Driven Vision-Language Modeling

Zhiliang Zhu, Zhiqiang Zhao, Xie'an Jiang, Yingxin Lai, Kangye Zheng, Dawei Zhao

原文摘要

Underwater spatial reasoning depends on object boundaries and geometric cues that are obscured by scattering, color distortion, and low visibility. Existing underwater resources capture these cues through images, annotations, and depth maps, but provide fragmented supervision for vision-language models. We present a spatial data engine that connects visual appearance with object-level geometry through enhancement, 2D and geometry-assisted question generation, and expert filtering. It produces 4.27M QA pairs across five capability groups. We use this corpus to train USI-Brain and introduce an Underwater Prior-guided Rectifier (UPR) that applies gated corrections to visual features. USI-Bench evaluates the resulting capabilities with 6,525 held-out QA pairs. On its 15 task metrics, USI-Brain and USI-Brain + UPR improve over Qwen3-VL-8B-Instruct by 5.76 and 7.63 points on average, respectively, using signed differences on 100-point scales. Ablations show that geometry-assisted supervision improves depth and ordering by 4.8 and 6.1 points with UPR disabled, while UPR adds 18.0 points in scene description under matched training data. Both variants use raw images at evaluation. Across NautData, UWBench, and MarineEval, USI-Brain achieves the best or joint-best score on 28 of 32 metrics. Model weights and USI-Bench will be released at https://github.com/SKY-Zhu-91/USI-Brain.

Testing concept-level audits of melanoma classifiers with diffusion counterfactuals and matched positive controls

原文摘要

Concept-based explanations of melanoma classifiers are rarely tested against controls with known targets. We built a counterfactual audit from a diffusion model conditioned on seven 7-point checklist concepts and tested it with such controls. Colour-calibrated start noise reduced colour outliers from 78.5-84.8\% to 6.6-13.3\%. Four of seven knobs were target-dominant but also changed other concepts. Quartile-based positive controls were confounded, and the audit failed its pre-specified rule. It recovered the targets of all 16 controls matched on the generator's pseudo-labels and of 12 of 12 controls labelled by a second evaluator, for three concepts; concept activation vectors recovered fewer (11 of 16). In 18 permuted-label classifiers, significant sweep responses and target rankings also arose, whereas standardised effect margins separated the controls from these null classifiers. The pigmentation sweep raised the melanoma logit in 15 of 15 ISIC 2020 classifiers (+3.12 on average) and 6 of 6 HAM10000 classifiers (+4.01), about four times the null response in scale-free units; the regression effect did not transfer. An exploratory decomposition, evaluated against the controls, suggested that knob cross-talk partly hides vascular responses. Matched controls and null classifiers are practical checks of concept audits.

Bridging the Modality Bottleneck in Pathology MIL through Molecularly Guided Feature Adaptation

原文摘要

Multiple instance learning (MIL) is the dominant framework for whole-slide image analysis in computational pathology, typically combining a frozen patch encoder, a projection layer, and a slide-level aggregator. While encoders and aggregators have been extensively studied, the projection layer remains a largely morphology-only bottleneck. This limits endpoints such as biomarker status and survival, which are governed by a molecular state that is not fully captured by H&E morphology. We introduce Molecularly Informed Staining Transform (MIST), a plug-in replacement for the MIL projection layer that uses paired spatial transcriptomics only during training to construct virtual molecular stains. MIST clusters gene expression profiles into cross-modal prototypes, anchors them in the frozen foundation model feature space, and uses them to reorganize H&E patch features along molecularly guided axes. It requires no transcriptomics at inference and can be inserted before standard MIL aggregators. We evaluate MIST across 23 downstream tasks and 8 MIL aggregators. MIST improves 240 of 256 configurations over the standard projection layer, with an average gain of +3.5%, observed consistently across endpoint types: +5.2% on survival prediction, +3.3% on tissue subtyping, and +2.6% on biomarker prediction. Ablations confirm that gene-derived prototypes are the primary source of the gains, while spatial, biological, and pathological analyses show that cross-modal prototype affinities capture spatially coherent molecular programs from H&E alone.

METRIC-GS: Selective Metric-Scale Estimation for 3D Gaussian Splatting

Sooyeun Yang, Jongseong Brad Choi

原文摘要

A 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) reconstruction inherits arbitrary units from structure-from-motion, so it cannot be measured or used to place AR content until someone supplies a scale. Both standard recipes are fragile on real captures: on five indoor scenes with tape-measured ceilings, a quantile floor-to-ceiling heuristic errs by 27% and metric-depth alignment by 35-71% across three networks. We present METRIC-GS, a selective scale estimator for real indoor photographs: it reads the scale off the reconstruction's own semantic content and, just as importantly, refuses when the evidence is thin. A frozen 2D teacher labels Gaussians by visibility-aware voting; instance-level size priors for architectural and furniture classes (doors, tables, the floor-to-ceiling gap) are fused by a robust maximum-likelihood step; and an inlier-mass test turns thin evidence into an explicit abstention that doubles as a router to a heavyweight metric model. On 47 ScanNet++ scenes with laser ground truth, with a configuration frozen before public evaluation, the estimator alone cuts the heuristic's mean error from 21.1% to 16.6% (9.3% on the 28 scenes it acts on) at ~11 s per scene. MASt3R remains the more accurate standalone estimator (9.9%), but routing only our refusals to it matches running it everywhere with 60% fewer invocations; this selective hybrid is the configuration we advocate. Visibility-aware voting raises the scenes the estimator can act on from 16 to 28 at unchanged deployed accuracy. Applied unchanged to 13 phone and drone captures of our own, on which MASt3R fails its own registration gate 12 times, the system improves all five captures it acts on and degrades none. We also report that a current feed-forward metric model scores 2.3% on a benchmark inside its training mixture and 28-35% on captures it has never seen: a published metric-scale number is a best case, not a deployment estimate.

ChanSFormer: A Channel Agnostic Vision Transformer for Multi-Channel Cell Painting Images

Jingwei Zhang, Srinivasan Sivanandan, Dimitris Samaras

原文摘要

High-content multi-channel imaging, from Cell Painting assays to remote sensing, is central to modern scientific pipelines. Because these channels are highly heterogeneous and experimental configurations frequently evolve, a practical vision backbone must be fundamentally channel-agnostic. Current channel-adaptive vision transformers rely on global self-attention with learnable channel embeddings, which can be computed only for previously known channels. Attempts to overcome this limitation of new channels either discard the embeddings, losing channel identity, or process each channel independently, thereby eliminating critical cross-channel interactions. To address this, we introduce ChanSFormer, an efficient Vision Transformer that replaces rigid embeddings with disentangled spatial-channel attention and individual channel CLS tokens. This architecture natively preserves both distinct channel identities and cross-channel information flow. Furthermore, the individual channel class token design unlocks more informative feature representations for self-supervised learning and enables representation-based channel sampling while remaining channel-agnostic. We evaluate ChanSFormer on two biology multi-channel datasets, CHAMMI, JUMP-CP and a satellite dataset, So2Sat. Experimental results show that ChanSFormer outperforms state-of-the-art methods by 3.93%-4.27% on JUMP-CP in classification accuracy. It also demonstrates exceptional cross-dataset transferability under a self-supervised setting, outperforming previous methods by up to 2.72% in accuracy in the same classification tasks. Furthermore, the disentangled attention reduces the quadratic complexity of channel-by-spatial sequence length of the global attention baseline, thus improving throughput by 55%-313%. 原文摘要

Vision--Language--Action (VLA) models generate robot actions from visual observations and language instructions, but their understanding of physical dynamics remains limited. Video world models can capture scene dynamics, yet generating future videos introduces high latency into the control loop. We introduce PDRVLA, whose lightweight Physical Dynamics Module extracts physical tokens from vision--language features to condition action generation without online video generation. The module learns through direct prediction of future RGB, depth, and optical-flow features, with auxiliary supervision through a frozen pretrained video world model. Training relies entirely on publicly available data, expanded through human-to-robot synthesis, subtask annotation, and embodied chain-of-thought (ECoT) annotation. Across four simulation benchmarks, PDRVLA achieves success rates of 99.3% on LIBERO, 89.9% on LIBERO-Plus, 93.6% on RoboTwin~2.0, and 81.5% on SimplerEnv. Ablations show improved future prediction with world-model supervision and evaluate how subtask conditioning, future object-pose supervision, and ECoT training affect action success.

MotoVerse: A Benchmark for Predictive Perception of Motorized Two-Wheelers in Dense Unstructured Traffic

Varun A. Paturkar, Shankar Gangisetty, C. V. Jawahar

原文摘要

Motorized Two-Wheelers (MTWs) dominate personal transport across much of the Global South, yet remain largely overlooked in predictive perception research for autonomous driving and ADAS. We introduce MotoVerse, a benchmark for predictive perception from an MTW's ego-centric perspective. MotoVerse comprises 949 maneuver clips collected in dense, unstructured traffic and trajectory annotations for over 31,000 surrounding road agents, including over 16,000 MTWs, enabling two complementary tasks: Ego-Rider Maneuver Anticipation (ERMA) and Traffic Agent Trajectory Prediction (TATP). Each clip is further annotated with an MTW-specific challenge taxonomy comprising dynamic ego-motion, weak traffic structure and contextual occlusion, enabling challenge-aware evaluation. We benchmark established conventional prediction models, general-purpose Vision-Language Models (VLMs), driving-specific VLMs and vision-language-action models. Our experiments reveal three key insights: (i) video backbones reach most of their full-observation accuracy from the first fifth of a maneuver, whereas zero-shot VLMs need most of the maneuver to be observed; (ii) zero-shot VLMs, whether general-purpose or driving-specific, largely remain close to simple baselines on both tasks; a preliminary LoRA study shows that adaptation lifts anticipation sharply but leaves trajectory prediction behind conventional models; and (iii) the rider's own motion drives forecasting difficulty: for every model, including a static baseline, errors are highest during left turns and rise under dynamic ego-motion. We believe MotoVerse will serve as a challenging benchmark for safer and more robust predictive AI for intelligent two-wheelers. The dataset and evaluation code are publicly available at https://github.com/VarunIIITH/MotoVerse.

3D-PLOT-LLM: Part-Level Object Tokens for 3D Large Language Models

Jintang Xue, Xinyu Wang, Yixing Wu, Jingwen Chen, C. -C. Jay Kuo

原文摘要

3D multimodal large language models (3D MLLMs) describe a 3D object as a whole but cannot address, name, or reason about its parts. Prior part-aware attempts add segmentation decoders, heavier 3D encoders, or bounding-box grammars at substantial parameter cost. We take a fundamentally different path: we reorganize the input token stream so that parts become directly addressable through the LLM's own vocabulary. Our model, 3D-PLOT-LLM, partitions the frozen point encoder's patches into K locally coherent regions and inserts, before each region's patch tokens, a learnable per-region marker and a reserved vocabulary token <part_k>; a Marker-Space Refinement (MSR) module then conditions each marker on its region's spatial statistics and adjacency neighbors. The model thus cites parts in its output and follows prompts that refer to parts by token, a capability absent from prior object-level 3D MLLMs. To probe this interface, we construct PartVerse-QA, a vocabulary-level part-QA benchmark adapted from PartVerse mesh annotations (77K training pairs and 588 held-out queries on disjoint object splits), on which 3D-PLOT-LLM reaches caption-to-slots Jaccard 0.459 and Exact-match 13.78%, with a slot-to-caption GPT-4o judge of 44.68. On the text-description track of the 3DCoMPaT-GrIn part-aware grounded description benchmark, 3D-PLOT-LLM outperforms PointLLM, Kestrel, PARIS3D, and SegPoint on every reported text metric, and ShapeLLM on 3 of 4, with up to +3.03 GPT-4o judge over PointLLM. On Objaverse whole-object captioning, adding PartVerse-QA at Stage 2 yields +0.65 SBERT and +1.85 GPT-4o over PointLLM, and tops PointLLM-PiSA on 4 of 5 traditional metrics despite its part-grounded objective. All with under 1M new trainable parameters on a frozen point encoder, an order of magnitude below prior part-aware 3D MLLMs, and no learned part detector, segmentation decoder, or bounding-box head.

Intra-Architecture Source Attribution for Stable Diffusion: A New Task with Benchmark Dataset and Baseline

Ashutosh Dayal, Mallika Garg, Debashis Sen

原文摘要

Designing systems that attribute a generated image to its source model has lately become a major area of AI research. Most existing datasets and systems related to image source attribution are targeted towards the detection of architectural signatures of the source models. Distinct from this, focusing on stable diffusion, we introduce a novel task, IntrAA-SD, Intra-Architecture source Attribution for Stable Diffusion, where the source models to be differentiated share the same architectural backbone and differ only due to fine-tuning. The proposed task aligns with the emergence of fine-tuned generators having the same architecture, like Juggernaut XL and RealVis XL, which are fine-tuned versions of Stable Diffusion XL (SDXL). We provide a first-of-its-kind $140$K-image benchmark dataset containing images generated from different fine-tunes of SDXL, along with in-domain and out-of-distribution prompts. We also provide a baseline framework for IntrAA-SD, which leverages a style-conditioned Mixture-of-Experts network. It uses a frozen CLIP backbone to capture the image style and gate the MoE, which processes fine-tuned trace features from a high-resolution LoRA-adapted DINOv2 network. The fine-tuned models used, the prompting strategies considered, and the formation details employed in the novel dataset are elaborated. Our baseline intra-architecture source attribution method is evaluated in terms of attribution accuracy on our dataset, and ablation studies are also performed. Code and dataset is available at https://github.com/mallikagarg/IntrAA-SD.

FedIA: Instance-Aware Cross-Modal Representations for Federated Prompt Learning

Xuanjing Zhang, Qi Guo, Yanan Qiao, Yong Han, Junge Bo

原文摘要

Federated Prompt Learning (FPL) enables parameter-efficient adaptation of pre-trained Vision-Language Models across decentralized clients without exchanging raw data. To cope with cross-client heterogeneity, existing FPL methods typically pair a globally shared prompt with a client-specific local prompt. However, this design personalizes only at the client level: the same local prompt is applied to all samples of a client, and the global and local prompts are combined in an input-agnostic, fixed manner. Consequently, it overlooks the substantial visual variations among samples within the same client and cannot adjust the balance between shared and personalized knowledge to each input. To address these limitations, we propose Federated Prompt Learning with Instance-Aware Cross-Modal Representations (FedIA), an FPL framework that learns instance-aware cross-modal representations. Specifically, FedIA first uses global text prompts as client-invariant semantic anchors to select image patches most relevant to each candidate class, suppressing distracting regions. The selected visual evidence then conditions the generation of instance-aware local text representations. Finally, an adaptive global-local fusion module calibrates the contributions of local and global text representations for each image-class pair. In this way, FedIA shifts personalization in FPL from the client level to the instance level while preserving the semantic knowledge shared across clients. Extensive experiments under domain shift, pathological label skew, and Dirichlet-based label skew show that FedIA outperforms FPL baselines, with maximum accuracy gains of 1.44\%-4.37\% over the latest baseline across the three settings. Ablation studies and analyses further verify the complementary contributions of instance-aware representation generation and adaptive global-local fusion.

Clips2Story: Training-Free Video Storyboarding and Editing Using Multimodal Retrieval-Embedded Generation

Junnuo Wang, Weihan Xu, Hao-Wen Dong

原文摘要

Video editors often work with large collections of fragmented footage and must select and organize relevant clips into a coherent story. However, many existing video editing and summarization methods assume a temporally ordered source video and aim to preserve its original narrative and temporal structure. In this paper, we introduce Clips2Story, a training-free, LLM-based pipeline that enables users to create keyword-specified short videos from a pool of video clips. Given a pool of clips and a user-specified keyword, we first extract text-based multimodal descriptors for each clip and retrieve the clips most relevant to the keyword. We then provide the textual descriptors of these candidate clips to an LLM, which selects and arranges them into an editable storyboard with connective narrations. Finally, we assemble the selected clips and retrieve accompanying visuals for the narrations to compose the output video. To evaluate the proposed pipeline, we construct a synthetic evaluation dataset from 100 long-form videos across five genres by segmenting each video into short clips using a scene-change detection model and shuffling the resulting clips to remove their temporal order. Through objective evaluation and qualitative examples, we demonstrate that Clips2Story can effectively retrieve keyword-relevant clips and compose coherent storyboards based on user-specified keywords. Human evaluation further shows that Clips2Story outperforms a strong baseline in terms of narrative coherence, keyword alignment, and overall realism.

PixCon: Clean-Positive Contrastive Learning for Foundation-Model Semi-Supervised Segmentation

Ebenezer Tarubinga

原文摘要

Can a simple labeled-pixel contrastive branch improve semi-supervised segmentation with a strong pretrained encoder? We study this question with PixCon, which adds a class-wise memory bank to a DINOv2-Base implementation of UniMatch V2. The bank stores ground-truth-labeled features only where the student prediction agrees with the label. A multi-positive contrastive loss uses these features to train the shared encoder-decoder; the head and bank are discarded at inference. This simplifies earlier labeled-pixel banks by removing confidence thresholds and learned ranking. On Pascal VOC with 183 labels, PixCon improves all three paired seeds by 0.20, 0.64 and 1.83 mIoU points, raising the mean from 87.01 to 87.90. With 92 labels the mean gain is 0.40 points; single-seed differences on Cityscapes and ADE20K range from -0.08 to +0.14 points. A predicted-label contrastive control reaches nearly the same Pascal accuracy, so these results support the added branch rather than an accuracy benefit from its correctness filter. An exact gradient decomposition distinguishes mislabeled-positive counts from their similarity-weighted influence. Separate teacher diagnostics find retained-pixel error rates of 1.8% on Pascal and 10.6% on ADE20K. These diagnostics do not measure the training bank or predict final accuracy. PixCon adds 15.3-19.7% iteration time in the measured runs and no inference computation. We report paired seeds, training cost and the limits of the evidence.

PathoS2VD: From 2D Histopathology to Pseudo Z-Stack Representations

Jiamu Wang, Keunho Byeon, Ji-Uk Kim, Jin Tae Kwak, Heounjeong Go

原文摘要

For decades, diagnostic pathology has relied on thin two-dimensional (2D) tissue sections, despite biological tissues exhibiting inherently three-dimensional (3D) morphological organization. Because a single section captures only one focal plane, important morphological cues along the z-axis are inevitably discarded, limiting tissue representation for both human interpretation and computational analysis. In this work, we propose a generative framework that learns z-axis morphological priors from pathology z-stack data, offering a cost-effective alternative to dedicated volumetric imaging, and transfers this knowledge to conventional single-plane histopathology. Specifically, an image-to-video (I2V) latent diffusion model (LDM) is trained to synthesize a pseudo z-stack from a single 2D image, capturing plausible morphological variations across adjacent focal planes rather than reconstructing physical tissue volumes. To enable deployment on large-scale clinical datasets without native z-stack acquisition, we further introduce a prior-preserving mixture fine-tuning strategy that adapts the model to new domains while retaining the learned z-axis morphological prior. Extensive experiments demonstrate that the synthesized pseudo z-stacks exhibit realistic cross-plane morphological continuity and consistently improve downstream prostate cancer classification compared with conventional 2D representations. Our results suggest that learning transferable z-axis priors from limited z-stack data provides a practical way to enrich routine pathology images with complementary morphological information. CLEAR: Color-Texture Latent Alignment for Single Image Reflection Removal

Tu Vo, Sheir A. Zaheer, Chan Y. Park

原文摘要

Single Image Reflection Removal (SIRR) seeks to recover the transmitted scene from a photograph captured through glass. Recent latent restoration methods use pretrained generative priors, but many recover detail by feeding high-frequency features from the degraded input back into the decoder. This works for degradations such as blur, noise, or haze, where input detail mostly belongs to the scene. It is less suitable for SIRR, where reflections add a second structured layer: directly reusing the input's skip connections can sharpen the image while also bringing reflection edges back. Latent compression also introduces color drift and fine-detail loss. We propose CLEAR (Color-Texture LatEnt Alignment for Single Image Reflection Removal), a deterministic, single-timestep, non-iterative latent framework that uses a pretrained latent diffusion backbone as a natural-image prior. A physics-guided separator organizes the prediction around the transmission, reflection, and residue formation model and outputs coarse layer latents in one forward pass. The Hybrid Feature Alignment Module (HFAM) then treats input-derived skips as contaminated layer-mixture features. It rectifies their high-frequency content with a clean-transmission-aligned color query, learned from the input features themselves under ground-truth feature supervision, keeping transmission-consistent texture while attenuating reflection-colored detail. CLEAR achieves the best average across fidelity and perceptual metrics on six real-world benchmarks and the lowest LPIPS on every dataset, with the largest gains on the hardest benchmarks.

When Policy Entropy Constraint Fails: Preserving Diversity in Flow-based RLHF via Perceptual Entropy

Xiaofeng Tan, Jun Liu, Bin-Bin Gao, Yuanting Fan, Xi Jiang, Chengjie Wang, Hongsong Wang, Feng Zheng

原文摘要

RLHF is widely used to align flow-matching text-to-image models with human preferences, but often leads to severe diversity collapse after fine-tuning. In RL, diversity is often assumed to correlate with policy entropy, motivating entropy regularization. However, we show this intuition breaks in flow models: policy entropy remains constant, even while perceptual diversity collapses. We explain this mismatch both theoretically and empirically: the constant entropy arises from the fixed, pre-defined noise schedule, while the diversity collapse is driven by the mode-seeking nature of policy gradients. As a result, policy entropy fails to prevent the model from converging to a narrow high-reward region in the perceptual space. To this end, we introduce perceptual entropy that captures diversity in a perceptual space and maintains the property of standard entropy. Building upon this insight, we propose two entropy-regularized strategies, Perceptual Entropy Constraint and Perceptual Constraints on Generation Space, to preserve perceptual diversity and improve the quality. Experiments across two base models, neural and rule-based rewards, and three perceptual spaces demonstrate consistent gains in the quality-diversity trade-off; PEC achieves the best overall score of 0.734 (vs. baseline's 0.366); a complementary setting of PEC further reaches a diversity average of 0.989 (vs. baseline's 0.047). 3D Gaussian Splatting within Self-Learned Neural View-Dependent Color Fields

原文摘要

3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) has become a vital tool in novel view synthesis. 3D Gaussian functions with attributes like color, opacity, and scale are stacked together to explicitly model a radiance field. However, discrete 3D Gaussians usually produce poor depth with few geometry details but lots of floaters, which hinders the effective modeling of smooth radiance fields. To address this issue, we propose to learn a radiance field within a continuous view-dependent color field parameterized by neural networks. With continuous constraints in color, the bias on low-frequency signals of neural networks can highly encourage the geometry modeling to contribute to high-frequency color variations on images, getting rid of solely relying on the color attribute itself. Moreover, we impose a constraint to improve the Lipschitz continuity of the neural color field, making large changes of each Gaussian's color also match with large changes of its position in terms of a ratio. To this end, we additionally introduce novel self-learning strategies to improve the learning of the neural view-dependent color field without any external knowledge or priors, aiming for better generalization on unseen scenes. Our numerical and visual comparisons on widely used benchmarks justify our idea and show better ability of high fidelity geometry recovery in 3DGS. ParaVT: Taming the Tool Prior Paradox for Parallel Tool Use in Agentic Video Reinforcement Learning

原文摘要

Training large multimodal models (LMMs) via reinforcement learning (RL) to natively invoke video-processing tools (e.g., cropping) has become a promising route to long-video understanding. However, most existing agentic Video-LMMs dispatch tool calls sequentially (i.e., one per turn). Sequential tool calling can propagate localization errors, accumulate irrelevant context, and require an additional main-model generation for each successive crop. We introduce ParaVT, a multi-agent RL framework for Parallel Video Tool calling, dispatching multiple time-window crops in a single turn, allowing evidence from multiple temporal windows to be examined concurrently. Yet applying standard Group Relative Policy Optimization (GRPO) to ParaVT reveals an obstacle we term the Tool Prior Paradox: inherited tool-use priors appear to support exploration while competing with the output format learned during supervised fine-tuning. Standard RL can also settle on tool skipping. A comparison with a model with weaker tool-use priors shows stable formatting but no tool calls during RL, consistent with a trade-off between format stability and tool exploration. We propose PARA-GRPO (Parseability-Anchored and Ratio-gAted GRPO), which augments standard RL with two complementary mechanisms: (i) a format reward that encourages tag closure and penalizes unclosed reasoning blocks, and (ii) a per-prompt randomization of the overview-frame budget to create a reward advantage for tool use when the overview provides insufficient evidence. Across six long-video understanding benchmarks, ParaVT improves over the Qwen3-VL baseline by +7.9% on average, with PARA-GRPO raising training-time format reward from 0.13 to a peak of 0.64. These findings highlight the need to account for inherited tool-use priors when designing RL methods for long-video understanding.

Disentangle to create: Architecture-level disentangled diffusion model for few-shot Chinese font generation

Jie Li, Suorong Yang, Jian Zhao, Furao Shen

原文摘要

Few-shot Chinese font generation aims to synthesize new characters in a target style using only a handful of reference images. Achieving accurate content rendering and faithful style transfer requires effective disentanglement between content and style. However, most existing approaches achieve only feature-level disentanglement and allow the generator to re-entangle these features, leading to content distortion and degraded style fidelity. To address this, we propose the Architecture-Level Disentangled Diffusion Model (ALD-Font) with an asymmetric design. The U-Net backbone takes SimSun-style glyphs as content templates, concatenated with noisy latents to construct a spatial canvas. Style features extracted from target-style images are injected as modulation signals to guide generation. Based on theoretical validation of disentanglement effectiveness, we adopt a parameter-efficient fine-tuning (PEFT) strategy that updates only the style-related modules. This allows the model to better adapt to new styles while avoiding overfitting to the reference images' content under the few-shot setting. Additionally, we train a Background Noise Removal (BNR) module in the pixel space to remove background noise in complex stroke regions. We further introduce the Grey and OCR metrics to evaluate the content quality of generated characters. Experimental results show that ALD-Font achieves significantly higher style fidelity while maintaining comparable content accuracy to existing state-of-the-art methods. The implementation is available at https://github.com/JayLee1002/ALD-Font.

FLINT: Coupling Proximal Initialization and Bounded Stochasticity for Flow-Matching Inverse Problems

Junseo Bang, Daewon Choi, Dong Ju Mun, Se Young Chun

原文摘要

Flow matching models have emerged as a dominant paradigm for generative posterior sampling in imaging inverse problems. Existing solvers follow two distinct lines of work: trajectory-space methods, which refine sampling dynamics from random initial noise, and source-space methods, which optimize the initial noise itself. While most prior work treats these as independent design choices, we show that they are inherently coupled. We derive a unified stability bound that links initialization proximity and cumulative sampling stochasticity through a multiplicative envelope, complemented by two empirical observations. First, we identify a sufficiency regime in which a moderately optimized proximal source initialization is enough to attain the performance plateau, rendering exhaustive source-space optimization unnecessary. Second, this initial advantage is fragile: it is eroded by excessive stochasticity accumulation during guided sampling, necessitating a mechanism that bounds the cumulative noise injection. These findings motivate FLINT, a two-stage framework that operationalizes this coupling. FLINT establishes a high-fidelity starting point via a manifold-constrained proximal objective in only a few iterations, then performs guided sampling under a bounded stochasticity schedule that helps prevent erasure of the initialization advantage. Across diverse inverse problems, FLINT delivers state of the art perceptual quality and competitive distortion metrics while maintaining superior computational efficiency.

Modality-Aware Expert Pruning for MoE-Based Multimodal Large Language Models

Donggeun Kim

原文摘要

Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) enables multimodal large language models (MLLMs) to scale capacity efficiently, but expert parameters dominate memory even though only a few experts are activated per token: they account for over 90% of model size in modern MoE-MLLMs (e.g., 54 GB out of about 58 GB in BF16 for InternVL3.5-30B-A3B and Qwen3-VL-30B-A3B). Expert pruning has emerged as an effective compression strategy, but existing methods aggregate importance uniformly across tokens, ignoring that the same expert may serve different roles for vision versus language processing. To address this, we propose MAEP (Modality-Aware Expert Pruning), a training-free framework that decomposes expert importance by modality in a single forward pass. MAEP introduces (1) Delta-H Output ($ΔH$), a redistribution-aware metric measuring the MoE output change when an expert is removed, and (2) low-attention vision tokens as a vision-side pruning signal that is dataset-stable: its expert-importance ranking remains stable across different datasets. Text-side importance serves as a preservation signal while vision-side importance serves as a pruning signal, and experts are ranked globally across layers. Experiments on three MoE-based MLLMs across multimodal and text benchmarks show that MAEP outperforms modality-agnostic baselines on the majority of multimodal benchmarks while remaining competitive on text-only tasks, reducing the BF16 expert weight footprint by about 27 GB (about 47% of total memory) so that the full weight footprint of an approximately 58 GB model fits within a single 40 GB GPU. Code is available at https://github.com/nota-github/MAEP.

3D Banff Glomerulitis Scoring for Kidney Transplant Pathology: Feasibility Study for Volumetric Quantification

原文摘要

Quantifying glomerular inflammation in kidney-transplant biopsies is traditionally performed on single whole-slide sections using the Banff "most-severe section" rule, despite the inherently three-dimensional nature of lesion distribution. This 2D based assessment might lead to instability when inflammation varies across slices. This paper reports a feasibility study examining the technical feasibility and clinical relevance of extending Banff scoring into three dimensions. To this end, we propose a 3D Banff lesion-scoring framework that aligns serial sections, reconstructs glomerular identities across depth, and integrates inflammatory-cell counts in 3D under three scoring strategies: Compatible, Volumetric, and Deduplicated Volumetric. In the experiments, glomerulitis (g-scores) was used as an example Banff metric and applied to multi-section renal allograft biopsies. Our findings indicate that 3D Banff g-scores are more consistent across sections and, under the semi-automatic setting, the Volumetric strategy correlates more strongly with clinical biomarkers than traditional 2D scores. These results show that 3D volumetric quantification offers promising added value, underscoring the potential benefit of 3D-aware Banff scoring for kidney transplant pathology.

ReMoA: Recursive Modular Adaptation via Sparse Latent Refinement in Multimodal Diffusion Models

原文摘要

Diffusion models have achieved success in high-fidelity data synthesis, yet their capacity for more complex, structured reasoning such as text following remains constrained. While advances in language models have leveraged strategies such as latent reasoning and recursion to enhance text understanding capabilities, extending these to multimodal text-to-image generation tasks is challenging due to the continuous and non-discrete nature of visual tokens. To tackle this problem, we draw inspiration from modular human cognition and propose a Recursive Modular Adaptation (ReMoA) framework integrated into joint attention layers of conventional diffusion models, iteratively refining visual tokens over multiple recursion steps while efficiently sharing parameters via sparse selection of neural modules. Comprehensive evaluations on both class-conditioned ImageNet generation and text-to-image generation using the GenEval and DPG benchmarks demonstrate that recursive visual latent refinement contributes to richer object details and better-aligned outputs. Additionally, visual latent trajectory and routing analyses reveal that neural modules learn to specialize across diffusion timesteps, with each module's trajectories diverging at later, low-noise steps to support context-adaptive refinement. ReMoA increases recall for DiT-XL from 0.57 to 0.62 on ImageNet, and improves the overall GenEval score for SD3-medium from 68.33% to 71.18%, without introducing additional parameters through recursion.

DecoupAttn: Decoupled Sparse Attention for Training-Free Acceleration of Video Diffusion

原文摘要

Sparse attention accelerates few-step video diffusion transformers by computing a few key blocks exactly and compensating for the rest. However, existing sparse attention still faces key challenges, including identification overhead from finding critical blocks at every denoising step, suboptimal budget allocation that sets sparsity budgets uniformly or by local metrics, and cross-step error accumulation as reused masks or clusters go stale. Observing that the errors left on skipped blocks cancel each other once every key is compensated, we propose DecoupAttn, a new paradigm of decoupled sparse attention: semantic clusters compensate every key, and exact attention corrects their error on a few blocks fixed once offline by position. To support this paradigm, we introduce Distortion Budget, a rate-distortion objective for budget allocation that places exact computation across timesteps, layers, and heads where it removes the most distortion that compensation leaves in the final latent. Built on this budget, we further propose Reassign Cache, in which each step reassigns the drifting keys to cached centroids and refreshes compensation while the budgeted blocks stay fixed. Moreover, DecoupAttn is training-free: a few calibration clips compile one plan offline, and inference runs standard block-sparse kernels with one fused compensation kernel. Our code will be released after submission.

原文摘要

Multimodal Large Language Models have shown promising capabilities in bridging visual and textual reasoning, yet their reasoning capabilities in Open-Vocabulary Human-Object Interaction (OV-HOI) are limited by cross-modal hallucinations and limited viewpoints of images. To address this, we propose ImagineAgent, an agentic framework that integrates cognitive mapping, tool-augmented reinforcement learning (RL), and generative world modeling for robust OV-HOI understanding. Specifically, we first propose an innovative CoT dataset named hicodet-6K for supervised fine-tuning (SFT), which effectively bridges the perception-to-cognition gap by structuring perceived entities into interaction pairs for comprehensive predictions. Subsequently, we develop a multimodal tool library integrating online retrieval, image cropping, and generative modeling, enabling the agent to dynamically augment reasoning with domain-specific tools to resolve visual-semantic ambiguities and hallucinations during inference. Moreover, we incorporate a generative model to reconstruct alternative viewpoints, enabling the agent to 'imagine' under limited viewpoints. Finally, we propose a composite reward mechanism to jointly optimize prediction accuracy and tool efficiency. Evaluations on both SWIG-HOI and HICO-DET datasets demonstrate that our method achieves state-of-the-art performance while requiring merely 36.7% of the training data compared to existing methods, validating our robustness, empirical effectiveness and efficiency.

High-fidelity training-free photovoltaic module mapping from multi-view UAV imagery

原文摘要

High-fidelity photovoltaic (PV) module mapping requires complete instance recovery and accurate delineation. Vision foundation models offer zero-shot segmentation, but converting incomplete and inconsistent predictions across views into a complete, geometrically accurate map of individual modules remains challenging. We propose the Multi-View PV Module Mapper (MV-PVMapper), a training-free framework coupling vision foundation models with unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) photogrammetry. First, Segment Anything Model 3 (SAM 3) generates candidates from original images using text prompts. Their contours are then transferred into object space through per-module slope correction to limit distortion from surface-model noise, and verified against representative module dimensions to guide cross-view instance selection. Finally, accepted instances return to all covering images as box prompts for SAM~3, supplementing text prompts with spatial cues for iterative segmentation, verification and fusion. On five-direction surveys of three operational rooftop PV plants at approximately 1 cm nadir ground sampling distance, two feedback iterations recover 7,710 of 7,711 reference modules with no false positives at an intersection-over-union (IoU) matching threshold of 0.5. Macro-averaged area precision and recall reach 99.00 % and 98.52 %, respectively. Averaged across sites, the aggregated Jaccard index reaches 97.55 %, compared with 60.73 % and 41.24 % for orthomosaic segmentation and multi-view pixel-voting baselines, respectively; average precision at the stricter IoU threshold of 0.95 reaches 95.67 %. Ablation studies show that module-size constraints are critical for instance separation, while slope correction and feedback to all covering views improve boundary accuracy. These results are achieved without task-specific image annotation or segmentation-model weight updates.

Do Saliency Maps Fail Dense Breasts? A Chance-Normalized, Confounder-Aware Audit of Explanation Fairness in Mammography

Ahmed Jaheen

原文摘要

Saliency maps, offered as evidence that mammography classifiers use the cancer, are untested in dense breasts, which can hide cancers. We tested whether they locate cancers worse there, and why. On 1,345 malignant CBIS-DDSM views, we scored three CNNs' Grad-CAM, Integrated Gradients and occlusion maps by whether their peak hits the lesion and a chance-normalized lesion-to-background saliency ratio (bits; +1 doubles it). Unadjusted gaps were large: Grad-CAM peaks hit 44% of dense vs. 58% of non-dense lesions. Case mix, chiefly more calcifications in dense breasts, explained about half or more of each gap. Occlusion kept a significant average of -0.56 bit gap. Controls also implicate the classifiers: unadjusted gaps exceeded an image-only conspicuity map's, and models relied less on dense-breast lesions. We recommend reporting density gaps before and after case-mix adjustment, per classifier, with conspicuity and lesion-reliance controls.

FloMo: 3D Scene Flow as a World Action Model Intermediate for Learning from Human Video

Jeremy Collins, Namra Patel, Ayush Agarwal, Shitij Govil, Animesh Garg

原文摘要

Pretrained video generation models distill internet-scale motion priors into robot policies, but full video is a redundant signal for action prediction. We argue that dense 3D motion is the medium through which video pretraining best transfers to robot actions, and that predicting motion rather than video affords better sample-efficiency for action prediction. FloMo is a 5B video-generation model fine-tuned to predict 3D scene-flow and action tokens. Rendering scene flow as RGB and encoding it into the same latent space as video enables a pretrained video generation backbone to efficiently adapt to predict 3D scene flow. Co-trained on action-free human video and action-labeled robot teleoperation data, our model benefits from human-video pretraining and generalizes to unseen objects, motion primitives, and tasks. Replacing motion prediction with a video prediction objective degrades out-of-distribution generalization, while adding a video prediction target alongside motion lowers policy success rather than improving it. When motion, video, and action are predicted jointly, action tokens attend far more to motion than to video, suggesting that predicting video wastes model capacity. Together, these results indicate that motion effectively mediates the transfer from video pretraining to action. More information can be found at flomo-wam.github.io.
