Humans routinely consume multimodal content, where textual and visual information is naturally interleaved. Although Unified Multimodal Models (UMMs) can jointly generate text and images, multimodal interleaved generation remains largely underexplored. Progress in this area is hindered by two key limitations: (1) the lack of well-defined interleaved generation tasks and corresponding training data, and (2) the absence of fine-grained evaluation protocols that can reliably diagnose model performance across different capability dimensions. To this end, we present IntReal, comprising two complementary components: IntReal-100K, a real-world dataset of multimodal interleaved samples spanning four major categories, and the IntReal Evaluation Suite, which evaluates model performance across seven complementary dimensions using specialized expert models, enabling coarse-to-fine diagnosis. Extensive experiments validate our evaluation suite through low inter-metric redundancy (max pairwise absolute Spearman's $ρ\leq 0.42$ ), high agreement with human judgments (83.3% accuracy), and strong consistency across different expert evaluators (Spearman's $ρ> 0.9$ ), supporting the complementarity and reliability of our metrics. By benchmarking four families of UMMs, we show that IntReal Evaluation Suite reveals distinct strengths and weaknesses across models. Post-training experiments demonstrate the utility of IntReal-100K for improving interleaved generation and further show that training unimodal generation can also benefit interleaved generation. These findings suggest that interleaved generation can benefit from modality-specific optimization, rather than requiring joint text-image training at every stage.

Unlearning specific concepts in text-to-image diffusion models has become increasingly important for preventing undesirable content generation. Among prior approaches, sparse autoencoder (SAE)-based methods have attracted attention due to their ability to suppress target concepts through lightweight manipulation of latent features, without modifying model parameters. However, SAEs trained primarily for sparse reconstruction do not explicitly enforce concept-wise separation, allowing semantically related concepts to share latent features. To address this, we propose SAEParate, which explicitly separates semantically overlapping concepts in the SAE latent space through concept-aware contrastive learning, supported by cross-attention-guided spatial aggregation that emphasizes concept-relevant regions. In addition, we enhance the encoder with a nonlinear transformation to increase its expressive capacity under this separation objective, enabling more concept-discriminative latent representations. Experiments on UnlearnCanvas demonstrate state-of-the-art performance, with particularly strong gains in joint style-object unlearning, a challenging setting where existing methods suffer from severe interference between target and non-target concepts.

Structured information extraction from long, multilingual scanned financial documents is a core requirement in industrial KYC and compliance workflows. These documents are typically non-machine-readable, noisy, and visually heterogeneous. They usually span dozens of pages while containing only sparse task-relevant information. Although recent vision–language models (VLMs) achieve strong benchmark performance, directly applying them end-to-end to full financial reports often leads to unreliable extraction under real-world conditions. We present a multistage extraction framework that integrates image preprocessing, multilingual OCR, hybrid page-level retrieval, and compact VLM-based structured extraction. The design separates page localization from multimodal reasoning, enabling more accurate extraction from complex multi-page documents. We evaluated the framework on 120 production KYC documents comprising about 3000 multilingual scanned pages. Across multiple OCR–VLM combinations, the proposed pipeline consistently outperforms direct PDF-to-VLM baselines, improving field-level accuracy by up to 31.9 percentage points. The best configuration, PaddleOCR with MiniCPM-o-2.6, achieves 87.27% accuracy. Ablation studies show that page-level retrieval is the dominant factor in performance improvements, particularly for complex financial statements and non-English documents.

Existing text-guided image editing methods primarily rely on end-to-end pixel-level inpainting paradigm. Despite its success in simple scenarios, this paradigm still significantly struggles with compositional editing tasks that require precise local control and complex multi-object spatial reasoning. This paradigm is severely limited by 1) the implicit coupling of planning and execution, 2) the lack of object-level control granularity, and 3) the reliance on unstructured, pixel-centric modeling. To address these limitations, we propose I2E, a novel "Decompose-then-Action” paradigm that revisits image editing as an actionable interaction process within a structured environment. I2E utilizes a Decomposer to transform unstructured images into discrete, manipulable object layers and then introduces a physics-aware Vision-Language-Action Agent to parse complex instructions into a series of atomic actions via Chain-of-Thought reasoning. Further, we also construct I2E-Bench, a benchmark designed for multi-instance spatial reasoning and high-precision editing. Experimental results on I2E-Bench and multiple public benchmarks demonstrate that I2E significantly outperforms state-of-the-art methods in handling complex compositional instructions, maintaining physical plausibility, and ensuring multi-turn editing stability.
