HairDeck:从单张图像生成可动画的风格化发片

HairDeck: Animation-Ready Stylized Hair Cards from a Single Image

Yuze He, Yixiang Wei, Wang Zhao, Chuhao Chen, Yanning Zhou, Yong-Jin Liu

AI 速览:HairDeck 将风格化发型视为无序的发片集合,用集合扩散 Transformer 从单张图像一次性生成发片及其弹簧骨骼链,得到可直接导出的可动画资产。

The hair of stylized characters in games and avatars is built from hair cards: artist-placed ribbons whose geometry is the visible hair, animated by spring bones. Existing image-based methods produce realistic hair or a single fused mesh, while CHARM, the only generator of stylized hair cards, decodes a hairstyle autoregressively as a long sequence of control points. Observing that a card hairstyle is an unordered set of artist-defined primitives, we propose HairDeck, which generates it as one: each card is a single token, and a set diffusion transformer denoises all cards together. From a single image, HairDeck generates the cards and the spring-bone chains that drive them, yielding an animatable asset that exports to ready-to-use downstream formats. On CHARM's own test set, it lowers Chamfer distance by 44% and card-orientation error by more than half while running 33 times faster, and from single images it outperforms CHARM, image-to-3D pipelines and strand-based methods. AI 速览:RFW-A 将智能体程序合成与程序化生成结合,先由智能体构建并验证类别级可复用生成器,再以程序化执行低成本批量产出铰接资产,并构建了 RFW-A-400K 数据集。

High-quality articulated assets are essential for embodied perception, simulation, and manipulation, yet constructing them at scale remains difficult. Manual annotation and procedural modeling require substantial human effort. Recent agentic systems automate asset construction through program synthesis, but repeat costly reasoning and refinement for every new asset. Our key observation is that assets within a category can share construction logic despite variations in structure and appearance. Agentic synthesis and procedural generation are therefore complementary: agents can construct reusable programs, while procedural execution reuses the resulting logic across many samples. We therefore present RFW-A, which combines the two in a new articulated-asset generation paradigm. Starting from existing articulated programs, RFW-A organizes reusable components and their dependencies into category-level generators. Agents test and refine these generators across sampled configurations and motion states. Once constructed and validated, the generators produce diverse assets through procedural execution with no further model calls or token charges. The estimated API cost of generator authoring averages $10.62, amortizing to $0.05 per asset over 200 assets, versus $1.24 for the sampled per-asset agentic synthesis baseline. Using RFW-A, we built RFW-A-400K, containing over 400K sim-ready articulated assets across more than 500 categories. Experiments show high structural and kinematic validity and stable execution across physics simulators. Beyond asset validity, training with RFW-A-400K improves part-level articulation estimation on seen and unseen categories, while policies trained in simulation with retrieved and program-edited assets transfer zero-shot to real articulated objects.

TaskFrame: Connecting Task-Level Planning with Frame-Level Control for Game Agents

Guangzhi Wang, Junfu Pu, Yiran Wang, Xingyilang Yin, Honghao Chen, Cheng Cheng, Lingen Li, Yinan Zhou 等 13 位作者

Building general game agents requires both high-level task reasoning and low-latency action control in rapidly changing visual environments. These capabilities favor models with substantially different computational profiles, making them difficult to realize within a single model. In this work, we present TaskFrame, a hierarchical planner-controller framework that connects task-level planning with frame-level keyboard-and-mouse control. A vision-language task planner decomposes a high-level goal into an ordered sequence of atomic instructions and is optimized through supervised learning and dependency-aware GRPO. The hidden states of special goal tokens that terminate each atomic instruction provide continuous goal embeddings that are cached and reused across control steps. A causal Transformer controller combines the embedding of the active goal with recent observations to predict discrete keyboard and mouse-button actions and continuous camera motion at every game step. We train the system in three stages: planner training, controller pretraining, and joint alignment. Experiments in Minecraft show that TaskFrame is competitive with general-purpose vision-language models on instruction decomposition, and that in closed-loop evaluation the agent achieves a higher combat success rate than the evaluated baselines.

A generalizable structural brain MRI foundation model via dual-priority federated pretraining

Zhen Yu, Yang Liu, Jianfeng Feng, Xiahai Zhuang, Qingchao Chen

Foundation models hold promise for generalizable analysis of structural brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans across diverse populations and imaging conditions. However, existing models typically rely on centralized pretraining using data pooled across cohorts, which is constrained by privacy and data-governance requirements. Moreover, larger cohorts can dominate optimization, underutilizing anatomical information from smaller cohorts and limiting generalization. Here we present BrainFedFM, a structural brain MRI foundation model federatively pretrained on 164,707 three-dimensional scans drawn from diverse real-world data distributions and organized across 42 federated sites. BrainFedFM uses dual-priority federated pretraining, in which spatial-priority masking emphasizes informative anatomical regions during local training, while site-priority aggregation adaptively weights contributions during global aggregation. Across 20 downstream datasets spanning 17 classification, regression and segmentation tasks, BrainFedFM achieved the state-of-the-art performance across seven foundation models, including four centralized models, while showing consistent advantages in classification and regression tasks and strong robustness under underrepresented populations and challenging imaging conditions. These findings demonstrate the generalizability of BrainFedFM and highlight federated pretraining as a practical strategy for developing neuroimaging foundation models from distributed data without pooling raw images.

Taming Noise Initialization for Zero-shot Video Restoration with Image Diffusion Priors

Chong Wang, Zixuan Fu, Hao Cheng, Siyuan Yang, Alex C. Kot, Bihan Wen

Recent advances in diffusion models have achieved remarkable success in restoring high-quality images in a zero-shot manner. Unfortunately, extending this success to video restoration is challenging due to the substantial computational resources required to pre-train video diffusion models. A rising trend seeks to address video restoration by utilizing a pre-trained image diffusion model, initiating restoration from either frame-wise independent or identical Gaussian noise. Yet, these approaches often fall short, as such simple noise initiations fail to capture and utilize the inherent temporal correlations within degraded video frames. In this work, we propose taming noise initialization for zero-shot video restoration, which preserves the intrinsic temporal correlations by generating initial noises directly using DDIM inversion on the corrupted video frames themselves. Building on this, we introduce an adaptive noise blending strategy that suppresses degradation patterns encoded during DDIM inversion while gradually steering the noise toward a Gaussian distribution. To further emphasize temporal consistency, we propose measurement-guided trajectory attention to better align features across frames. Extensive experiments on multiple video restoration tasks demonstrate that our method outperforms existing zero-shot approaches, consistently achieving superior results on the DAVIS, REDS4, and Set8 datasets.

Hy-Nomas: Towards Free-form Interactive World Generation

Qiaoling Chen, Jiaxiang Cheng, Xueqing Deng, Tiankai Hang, Ji Hou, Jiaqi Li, Yifan Liu, Tao Lu 等 38 位作者

Interactive world generation requires models to follow successive commands while preserving relevant history and action consequences. We present Hy-Nomas, a video world model with an 8B diffusion backbone that supports free-form text instructions and continuous camera control across multiple interaction turns. It generates variable-length segments conditioned on current inputs and cached history. Our central design aligns structured video captions with action-aware causal attention: descriptive context remains accessible across segments, while action instructions are restricted to their intended temporal windows. A vision-language Prompt Enhancer (PE) translates user requests and multimodal interaction histories into structured conditions for the next segment. A multi-stage curriculum progressively introduces causal generation, text interaction, camera control, and training on model-generated histories, followed by diffusion distillation. In human evaluation, Hy-Nomas shows superior performance over existing world models. We release model weights, code and benchmarks, together with a lightweight adaptation workflow, to support reproducible research on interactive world generation.

Decoupling and Regulating Modality Heads for Fake News Detection under Missing Modality

Kai Qian, Dongjie Xu, Weijie Shi, Yezhao Xu, Jiaqi Wang, Hanghui Guo, Mengze Li, Hao Chen 等 10 位作者

Multimodal news often loses its image or text as it spreads across Web platforms. Existing methods treat this as information loss, assuming that the original veracity label remains valid. This assumption fails for fake news reusing authentic material, whose remainder may be genuine. Detectors should therefore decouple modality cues and adapt their contributions to modality availability. However, coarse news labels provide little guidance for modality decoupling, while training on complete inputs can induce modality bias. To address these challenges, we propose Head-wise Modality Decoupling and Regulation (HMDR) for multimodal large language models. First, Modality Head Decoupling decouples modality representations through soft head grouping by attention preference. Second, Modality Head Regulation regulates head contributions through compensation for imbalanced modality attention. Finally, Modality Invariance Learning promotes invariance by aligning representations of each modality under replacement of the other. Experiments on two benchmarks show that HMDR improves detection under missing modalities while maintaining performance on complete inputs.

CLeaR: A Unified Framework for Resolving the Leakage-Degradation Dilemma in Style Transfer

Teng Zhou, Yunhao Chen

Style transfer aims to render target content in the style of a reference image, but existing methods often suffer from content leakage, where objects, layouts, or semantics from the style reference appear in the generated output. Although prior data-driven and training-free methods can reduce leakage, they often face a leakage-degradation dilemma: stronger content suppression may weaken style fidelity, while richer style preservation may reintroduce unwanted reference content. We identify this dilemma across the full style-transfer pipeline, including feature separation, feature-space grounding, and diffusion generation. To address these issues, we propose CLeaR, a training-free framework for content-leakage-resistant style transfer. CLeaR first uses Orthogonal Subspace Projection to define content-reduced style targets in each vision foundation model (VFM) feature space. It then performs Ensemble Inversion, which optimizes a shared pixel-space style anchor satisfying style constraints across multiple VFMs. Finally, Energy-Guided Calibration maintains style alignment during diffusion sampling by steering the denoising trajectory toward the ensemble-defined style manifold. We further provide a theoretical analysis showing that the style-anchor estimation error decreases with the number of VFMs. Experiments on StyleBench demonstrate that CLeaR improves style alignment, reduces content leakage, and achieves better LLM-as-Judge evaluation compared with existing methods. The code is available at \href{https://github.com/0606zt/CLeaR}{https://github.com/0606zt/CLeaR}.

UT-HMR: Uncertainty-Guided Temporal Modeling for Robust 3D Human Mesh Recovery

Zhibo Wang, Sirisha Rambhatla, Yuhao Chen, Maria Koshkina, David Clausi

Monocular 3D human mesh recovery (HMR) remains unreliable under weak observations caused by long camera-to-person distances, occlusion, and motion blur. In challenging scenarios such as sports, these factors make the problem highly ambiguous, as different 3D poses may yield similar 2D projections. This ambiguity is especially severe for one-stage HMR, which recovers all meshes directly from the full image without person crops or external 2D cues. To handle this ambiguity, we present UT-HMR ( Uncertainty-guided Temporal HMR), to our knowledge the first one-stage HMR framework to capture correlated pose uncertainty across joints. Each person query predicts a Gaussian distribution over the full SMPL pose with a compact low-rank-plus-diagonal covariance, which is converted into joint-wise precision weights for heteroscedastic supervision while keeping inference deterministic. Temporal early fusion further injects neighboring-frame evidence before pose decoding, supplying the visual evidence needed to resolve the ambiguity that the uncertainty captures. With a lightweight ViT-B backbone, UT-HMR achieves state-of-the-art results on VIP-HockeyPose-v2 (ice hockey) and WorldPose (soccer), reducing MPJPE, PA-MPJPE, and PVE by up to 4.7%, 3.8%, and 5.6%, and remains competitive on 3DPW against methods with larger backbones and higher input resolutions.

PAIQ: Patch-Aligned Semantic Injection via Residual Rotation

Pinze Ren, Yuwei Zhang, Hao Chen, Linghao Meng, Chang Li, Qiankun Li

Language-aligned and self-supervised visual encoders offer complementary strengths in semantic abstraction and spatial detail. Harnessing this complementarity requires enriching local features while retaining distinctions between semantically related patches. We introduce PAIQ, a patch-aligned semantic injection framework that combines content-based cross-encoder matching with orthogonally constrained residual updates. Using DINOv3 patch features as the spatial base, PAIQ aggregates complementary SigLIP features through joint source allocation and injects the aggregate--base differences through a shared orthogonal transformation Q. This rotation adapts update directions while preserving residual norms and pairwise angles. For fixed projected features, we derive conditions for patch separability under similar semantic aggregates and show that rotation adds a nonnegative separation term over direct interpolation when the aggregate is shared. Only the projection and fusion parameters are trained; both visual encoders and the language model remain frozen, and fusion retains 196 visual tokens. Across diverse language backbones, PAIQ yields broad gains in judge-assessed correctness and reductions in hallucination severity over single-encoder interfaces on image description and visual question answering. On the 2B and 9B Qwen backbones, this compact interface outperforms the strongest evaluated fusion or token-compression baselines by about 2.9 correctness points on average.

VGGT-$Ω$

Jianyuan Wang, Minghao Chen, Shangzhan Zhang, Nikita Karaev, Johannes Schönberger, Patrick Labatut, Piotr Bojanowski, David Novotny 等 10 位作者

Recent feed-forward reconstruction models, such as VGGT, have proven competitive with traditional optimization-based reconstructors while also providing geometry-aware features useful for other tasks. Here, we show that the quality of these models scales predictably with model and data size. We do so by introducing VGGT-$Ω$, which substantially improves reconstruction accuracy, efficiency, and capabilities for both static and dynamic scenes. To enable training this model at an unprecedented scale, we introduce architectural changes that improve training efficiency, a high-quality data annotation pipeline that supports dynamic scenes, and a self-supervised learning protocol. We simplify VGGT's architecture by using a single dense prediction head with multi-task supervision and removing the expensive high-resolution convolutional layers. We also use registers to aggregate scene information into a compact representation and introduce register attention, which restricts inter-frame information exchange to these registers, in part replacing global attention. In this way, during training, VGGT-$Ω$ uses only about 30% of the GPU memory of its predecessor, allowing us to train with 15x more supervised data than prior work and to leverage vast amounts of unlabeled video data. VGGT-$Ω$ achieves strong results for reconstruction of static and dynamic scenes across multiple benchmarks, for example, improving over the previous best camera estimation accuracy on Sintel by 77%. We also show that the learned registers can improve vision-language-action models and support alignment with language, suggesting that reconstruction can be a powerful and scalable proxy task for spatial understanding. MirrorQA: Benchmarking Multimodal LLMs on Mirror-Orientation Reasoning

Jingping Liu SUN YAT-SEN UNIVERSITY, Xingchen Peng, Yan Zhou, Ziyan Liu, Jie Zhai, Ronghao Chen QuantaAlpha, Huacan Wang QuantaAlpha, Xiaofeng Jia Bowling Green State University

Multimodal large language models (MLLMs) have achieved remarkable progress in recent years, yet their ability to perform left–right reasoning in mirror contexts—a fundamental element of spatial cognition—remains underexplored. To address this gap, we introduce MirrorQA, a manually constructed benchmark with 5,549 samples, designed to evaluate MLLMs’ capability to distinguish left from right from a subject-centered perspective. MirrorQA is built through a three-stage pipeline (annotation, verification, and final review) to ensure high-quality labeling. Comprehensive evaluations on both open- and closed-source MLLMs show that even the best-performing models achieve only 65.40% accuracy, far below the 99.28% accuracy of humans. These results highlight substantial challenges in current MLLMs when reasoning about left and right, and point to promising directions for future research. MirrorQA and its code are publicly available at anonymous link https://github.com/stargazer-zeno/MirrorQA.

Tiny Scales, Great Challenges: The Limits of Multimodal LLMs in Scale Recognition

Jihang Jin, Ronghao Chen QuantaAlpha, Hao Zhang, Ziyan Liu, Huacan Wang QuantaAlpha, Qi Ye East China University of Science and Technology, Jingping Liu SUN YAT-SEN UNIVERSITY

Visual scale recognition is a fundamental aspect for humans to perceive physical quantities in the real world, and it is crucial for enabling human-like intelligence in multimodal large language models (MLLMs). However, existing benchmarks typically focus on a single type of quantity (e.g., time) or a specific format (e.g., dials), lacking a comprehensive evaluation of scale recognition capabilities. To address these problems, we propose ScaleBench, a visual scale recognition benchmark built using images from COCO, Open Images, and Flickr, designed to comprehensively evaluate the scale recognition capabilities of MLLMs. To ensure high data quality, we develop detailed annotation guidelines and procedures, resulting in a total of 6,574 annotated samples. Based on this benchmark, we evaluate multiple closed-source and open-source MLLMs. Experimental results reveal that the best-performing model achieves only 42.60% accuracy, far lower than the 97.40% of humans. Furthermore, we conduct in-depth experimental analyses and provide future research directions. Our benchmark and implementation codes are available at https://github.com/Sonder-hang/ScaleBench.

Stable Language Guidance for Vision–Language–Action Models

Zhihao Zhan, Yuhao Chen SUN YAT-SEN UNIVERSITY, Jiaying Zhou SUN YAT-SEN UNIVERSITY, Qinhan Lyu, Hao Liu SUN YAT-SEN UNIVERSITY, Keze Wang SUN YAT-SEN UNIVERSITY, Liang Lin SUN YAT-SEN UNIVERSITY, Guangrun Wang SUN YAT-SEN UNIVERSITY

Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models have demonstrated impressive capabilities in generalized robotic control; however, they remain notoriously brittle to linguistic perturbations. We identify a critical "modality collapse” phenomenon where strong visual priors overwhelm sparse linguistic signals, causing agents to overfit to specific instruction phrasings while ignoring the underlying semantic intent. To address this, we propose Residual Semantic Steering (RSS), a probabilistic framework that disentangles physical affordance from semantic execution. RSS introduces two theoretical innovations: (1) Monte Carlo Syntactic Integration, which approximates the true semantic posterior via dense, LLM-driven distributional expansion, and (2) Residual Affordance Steering, a dual-stream decoding mechanism that explicitly isolates the causal influence of language by subtracting the visual affordance prior. Theoretical analysis suggests that RSS effectively maximizes the mutual information between action and intent while suppressing visual distractors. Empirical results across diverse manipulation benchmarks demonstrate that RSS achieves state-of-the-art robustness, maintaining performance even under adversarial linguistic perturbations.

AV-Dialog: Spoken Dialogue Models with Audio-Visual Input

Tuochao Chen, Bandhav Veluri Sesame AI, Hongyu Gong FAIR at Meta, Shyamnath Gollakota Department of Computer Science, University of Washington

Dialogue models falter in noisy, multi-speaker environments, often producing irrelevant responses and awkward turn-taking. We present AV-Dialog, the first multimodal dialog framework that uses both audio and visual cues to track the target speaker, predict turn-taking, and generate coherent responses. By combining acoustic tokenization with multi-task, multi-stage training on monadic, synthetic, and real audio-visual dialogue datasets, AV-Dialog achieves robust streaming transcription, semantically grounded turn-boundary detection and accurate responses, resulting in a natural conversational flow. Experiments show that AV-Dialog outperforms audio-only models under interference, reducing transcription errors, improving turn-taking prediction, and enhancing human-rated dialogue quality. These results highlight the power of seeing as well as hearing for speaker-aware interaction, paving the way for spoken dialogue agents that perform robustly in real-world, noisy environments.

A Survey of Multimodal Mathematical Reasoning: From Perception, Alignment to Reasoning

Tianyu Yang, Sihong Wu, Yilun Zhao Yale University, Zhenwen Liang Tencent AI Lab, Lisen Dai Columbia University, Chen Zhao NYU Shanghai, Minhao Cheng Pennsylvania State University, Arman Cohan Yale University and Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence 等 9 位作者

Multimodal Mathematical Reasoning (MMR) has recently attracted increasing attention for its capability to solve mathematical problems involving both textual and visual modalities. However, current models still face significant challenges in real-world visual math tasks, often misinterpreting diagrams, failing to align mathematical symbols with visual evidence, or producing inconsistent reasoning steps. Moreover, existing evaluations mainly focus on checking final answers rather than verifying the correctness or executability of each intermediate step. A growing body of recent research addresses these issues by integrating structured perception, explicit alignment, and verifiable reasoning within unified frameworks. To establish a clear roadmap for understanding and comparing different MMR approaches, we systematically review them around four fundamental questions: (1) What to extract from multimodal inputs, (2) How to represent and align textual and visual information, (3) How to perform the reasoning, and (4) How to evaluate the correctness of the overall reasoning process. Finally, we discuss open challenges and share our thoughts on future research directions.

AutoStudio:在多轮交互式图像生成中塑造一致的主体

AutoStudio: Crafting Consistent Subjects in Multi-turn Interactive Image Generation

Junhao Cheng, Xi Lu, Hanhui Li, Khun Loun Zai, Baiqiao Yin, Yuhao Cheng, Yiqiang Yan, Xiaodan Liang

AI 速览:提出免训练的多智能体框架 AutoStudio,通过 LLM 智能体与改进的扩散模型,在多轮交互中保持多主体一致性。

As cutting-edge Text-to-Image (T2I) generation models already excel at producing remarkable single images, an even more challenging task, i.e., multi-turn interactive image generation begins to attract the attention of related research communities. This task requires models to interact with users over multiple turns to generate a coherent sequence of images. However, since users may switch subjects frequently, current efforts struggle to maintain subject consistency while generating diverse images. To address this issue, we introduce a training-free multi-agent framework called AutoStudio. AutoStudio employs three agents based on large language models (LLMs) to handle interactions, along with a stable diffusion (SD) based agent for generating high-quality images. Specifically, AutoStudio consists of (i) a subject manager to interpret interaction dialogues and manage the context of each subject, (ii) a layout generator to generate fine-grained bounding boxes to control subject locations, (iii) a supervisor to provide suggestions for layout refinements, and (iv) a drawer to complete image generation. Furthermore, we introduce a Parallel-UNet to replace the original UNet in the drawer, which employs two parallel cross-attention modules for exploiting subject-aware features. We also introduce a subject-initialized generation method to better preserve small subjects. Our AutoStudio hereby can generate a sequence of multi-subject images interactively and consistently. Extensive experiments on the public CMIGBench benchmark and human evaluations show that AutoStudio maintains multi-subject consistency across multiple turns well, and it also raises the state-of-the-art performance by 13.65% in average Frechet Inception Distance and 2.83% in average character-character similarity.
