Scientific figures give research ideas a visual form through choices of abstraction, composition, and emphasis. Generative AI offers new ways to realize these choices, raising questions about explanatory clarity and purposeful visual expression. We examine these questions through a visual retrospective of 371 motivation and framework figures from 200 papers. The corpus comprises a quota-based main sample of 160 papers spanning four temporal periods and a separate purposive style-contrast sample of 40 papers. A single multimodal judge evaluates six dimensions of communication and design, with three repeated judgments per figure. We attempt source-constrained revisions of all 371 figures, of which 369 pass the recorded fidelity checks. Original-figure ratings show no uniform decline across periods. Revisions increase mean clarity ratings by 0.428 points and decrease aesthetic coherence ratings by 0.111 points on a five-point scale. Gains in the six-dimension average are larger for main-sample motivation figures than for frameworks. Case analyses show that added explanation can clarify comparisons while leaving typographic hierarchy and visual economy unresolved. These model-based findings support researcher-led design, with AI assisting exploration and authors retaining responsibility for explanatory purpose, composition, and scientific relationships. Models for physical AI tasks, such as robotics and autonomous driving, need not reason solely in language. They can use visual plans--points, bounding boxes, and trajectories--to represent spatial goals and anticipate motion. However, autoregressive vision-language models generate these plans one coordinate token at a time, making richer predictions increasingly costly. We introduce VFlash, a method for fast, accurate visual planning through Flash Primitive Decoding. VFlash exploits the known structure of visual primitives to predict their coordinates jointly, using a lightweight drafter that generates an entire primitive in one forward pass. The layout adapts to the primitive's type, dimensionality, and length, supporting compact boxes and long, variable-length trajectories. Crucially, spatial accuracy need not require reproducing an autoregressive model's exact token sequence. VFlash therefore trains on annotated primitives and directly accepts structurally valid predictions without target-token agreement. Across the evaluated 2D and 3D robot trajectory tasks, VFlash consistently reduces prediction errors relative to autoregressive decoding. Preliminary single-rollout measurements indicate approximately 25x faster generation for 3D point motion forecasting. A world action model conditioned on VFlash plans achieves 70.2% average success across four MolmoSpaces task suites, compared with 62.6% for the baseline.

Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models enable end-to-end robot control, but inference is increasingly expensive. Each decision processes hundreds of visual tokens, often across multiple cameras, leading to substantial computation while allowing irrelevant background content to distract action prediction under distribution shift. We argue that these issues stem from two complementary forms of redundancy: many visual tokens are spatially irrelevant, while attention over the remaining tokens is often misallocated. Based on this observation, we propose T3R, a Training-Free Two-Stage Token Refinement framework. In the first stage, segmentation-guided token pruning removes irrelevant visual patches to reduce computation and eliminate distracting context. In the second stage, saliency-guided attention biasing reallocates attention toward action-critical visual regions and language instructions within the retained tokens. Together, pruning produces a cleaner candidate set, while attention biasing further emphasizes the most decision-relevant evidence, yielding a better accuracy-efficiency frontier than either stage alone. On LIBERO-Spatial, T3R removes 85% of scene-camera visual tokens while essentially matching the unpruned success rate, and improves success by up to 7 percentage points under out-of-distribution object-placement perturbations. The timing comparison attributes 7.8 ms per inference call to pruning and attention-bias application. As input resolution increases, LLM-forward profiling shows up to a 3.3x speedup over the unpruned baseline. Evaluations across LIBERO, SIMPLER, and RoboTwin with three VLA backbones show the strongest accuracy-efficiency benefits in multi-camera settings. These results demonstrate that training-free token refinement is a practical approach to efficient and robust VLA inference.

Robotic perception increasingly relies on heterogeneous sensor suites combining cameras with emerging modalities (event, SPAD, iToF/dToF, and thermal). Yet existing simulators idealize these sensors, hiding critical modality-specific failure modes that limit real-world deployment. We present VisionSIM, a unified, physically grounded simulation platform that elevates sensor realism to a first-class concern by modeling the raw physical measurement process for diverse conventional and emerging modalities. We expose fine-grained control over physical sensor parameters, reproducing failure modes overlooked by general-purpose simulators: pileup and glare for LiDAR; phase wrapping, saturation, and motion artifacts for iToF; refractory drops for event cameras; and history-dependent emission for thermal cameras. This enables principled cross-modality comparison on identical scenes and trajectories. We release the platform and a large indoor dataset with synchronized raw measurements and rich ground-truth annotations.

Oral cancer and the oral potentially malignant disorders (OPMD) that can precede it are visible on the oral mucosa, which makes smartphone photographs a promising tool for screening. Deep learning models for this task classify individual photographs. However, screening refers patients, not photographs: a patient is usually photographed several times, and the referral decision must miss no more than a set share of patients with disease. We propose OraRefer, a patient-level screening model that reads each photograph with a segmentation-guided foundation model that conditions its class decision on the predicted lesion, combines all photographs of a patient with risk factors, and refers through a threshold with a finite-sample sensitivity guarantee. The model localizes the mouth itself, so inference needs no annotation. On 3000 photographs of 714 patients, patient-level fusion reaches an AUROC of 0.919 and outperforms attention-based multiple-instance learning. At a 90% sensitivity target, OraRefer detects 95% of patients with OPMD or cancer and misses 3 of 61 patients with cancer, at a specificity of 0.610. Because the threshold is calibrated without retraining, each clinic can set its own guaranteed operating point on a local calibration sample.

Generalist Anomaly Detection (GAD) aims to detect anomalies in unseen domains using only a few reference samples. Recent normal-abnormal guided methods improve this setting by exploiting abnormal references, but their residuals often mix transferable anomaly cues with domain-specific appearance factors such as texture, geometry, and acquisition conditions. This residual domain entanglement limits cross-domain transfer and may produce spurious activations on novel domains. We propose DART, a plug-in framework for normal-abnormal guided GAD that learns to separate residuals into anomaly-relevant and domain-specific components. DART combines a Residual Disentanglement Module, which preserves anomaly-discriminative information while suppressing domain information, with Cross-Domain Meta-Training, which forms episodes across source domains to make the separation effective. The method is architecture-agnostic and can be inserted between residual computation and the detection head of existing GAD pipelines. Experiments on MVTec AD, VisA, and BraTS show consistent improvements over multiple base methods, with the largest gains under stronger domain shifts. https://github.com/aqeeelmirza/DART

We identify a key limitation of existing feed-forward 3DGS methods: Gaussian attributes are typically predicted in a radial-distance-normalized space that canonicalizes a global radial statistic of the reconstructed geometry, while the spacing between neighboring Gaussian centers can still vary substantially across scene scales and camera configurations. This mismatch induces systematic shifts in Gaussian-scale targets, leading to ambiguous supervision. To address this, we propose SplatAnything with Gaussian Spacing Normalization (GSNorm), which canonicalizes a robust scene-level statistic of Gaussian spacing to provide a more consistent spatial reference for Gaussian prediction. To rigorously assess our method, we further establish a systematic benchmark spanning diverse datasets, input sparsity levels, and challenging extrapolated viewpoints. Extensive experiments demonstrate that SplatAnything achieves state-of-the-art performance, with particularly strong gains under substantial variations in scene scale and viewpoint.

Multi-modal large language models (MLLMs) with impressive perception and understanding capabilities will enable a range of downstream applications. However, their substantial computational and memory requirements hinder the real-world implementation, particularly for resource-constrained edge devices. Quantization has emerged as an effective solution for deploying large models. While post-training quantization (PTQ) successfully retains the performance at moderate bit-width (e.g., W8A8), it suffers from severe performance degradation under low-bit quantization (e.g., W4A8), especially for small-scale models that are more suitable for edge deployment. In this paper, we propose ProQuant, a novel weight-activation quantization-aware training (QAT) framework tailored for low-bit MLLMs. First, to align the limited finetuning dataset distribution with the pretrained dataset distribution, we propose a self-relabeling (SRL) scheme to resample the responses of the open-source multimodal dataset. Second, we are the first to take a decoupled view of multi-modal (MM) understanding and language modeling abilities. We propose a progressive block activation (PBA) mechanism to prioritize the MM understanding recovery. We also introduce a vision-sensitive factor $\vecτ$ that effectively identifies the MM-critical layers. Extensive experiments across various benchmarks, covering models with 2B-8B parameters, show that ProQuant significantly outperforms existing methods. For example, our W4A8 Qwen3-VL-2B-Instruct improves average accuracy by impressively 6.6% and achieves performance comparable to full precision counterparts with only approximately 1% performance drop. Text-to-image (T2I) systems serve users across languages and cultural contexts. However, evaluations of cultural representation focus mainly on recognizable elements such as landmarks, clothing, and activities, overlooking the cultural values that generated images convey. To bridge this gap, we introduce VisionValueBench, a multilingual benchmark that operationalizes six of Hofstede's cultural value dimensions (e.g., individualism versus collectivism) to investigate how T2I systems frame neutral social situations through a particular cultural orientation. We find that value-neutral prompts, which admit diverse cultural interpretations, nonetheless yield images that favor particular value orientations, a phenomenon we call visual value leakage. We evaluate prompts varying in language and geographic cues across 960 social scenarios and six T2I configurations. Generated images consistently favor the same value orientations across all six dimensions, for example, equality over hierarchy (low power distance), individual autonomy over group obligation (individualism), and enjoyment over restraint (indulgence). Prompt language has limited influence on these orientations, whereas geographic cues shift some dimensions toward the associated cultural values while largely preserving the prevailing orientations. These findings reveal substantial homogeneity in the cultural values conveyed by T2I systems worldwide.

Image classification models often encounter objects in diverse and unpredictable contexts at test time, which may differ substantially from those seen during training. This phenomenon, termed context shift, exposes a key fragility in neural networks: when models rely on non-causal contextual cues for prediction, shifts in context can lead to significant performance degradation. In this paper, we propose a novel training framework to improve the robustness of convolutional neural networks under context shift. Our approach leverages spatial feature attribution to guide models toward making predictions that rely less on contextual regions and more on object-relevant features. As a first step, recognizing a theoretical limitation of existing feature attribution methods we introduce a new variant, ContrastiveCAMs, which produces more faithful attribution maps of model predictions. Building on ContrastiveCAMs, we further propose Context-Regularized Cross-Entropy (CR-CE), a modification of the standard cross-entropy loss that regularizes the model's attention by suppressing the influence of contextual regions, thereby improving robustness to context shift. We evaluate the effectiveness of our approach on several medium-to-large scale datasets (Waterbirds, Spawrious, ImageNet/ImageNet-BG, Hard-ImageNet), and report consistent improvements in context-shift robustness.

This paper presents a novel task of describing human facial expressions of a facial image in natural language, which captures the nuances of facial actions and emotional states beyond traditional emotion categories or facial action units (AUs). To achieve the facial expression captioning model, we propose a three-stage training framework that trains a vision-to-language model using synthesized image-text pairs and the BLIP-2 pre-training techniques. To overcome the challenge of missing training image-text pairs for facial expression captioning, we propose a strategy that involves synthesizing and combining captions using GPT-3.5 and existing annotations on either emotion categories or AUs. Experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of our method in generating captions that describe details of facial actions and emotions, as well as the inferential relationship between them, even when those emotions are not present in the training data. It is also demonstrated that the vision-to-language task enhances the performance of the intermediate visual features on both AU detection and emotion classification tasks.

Predicting spatial gene expression from histology images could scale spatial transcriptomics (ST) to image-only cohorts, but conventional histology-based ST prediction is trained and evaluated mainly by per-gene spatial-profile reconstruction. This objective is misaligned with a key downstream use of ST: differentially expressed gene (DEG) discovery, where genes are ranked for a biological or morphology-defined contrast by evidence of between-group expression differences. We formulate image-based differential expression ranking (IDER), which asks whether predicted expression profiles preserve the contrast-specific ranked gene list obtained from measured profiles. IDER compares gene rankings induced by differential-expression statistics, rather than raw expression magnitudes or per-gene spatial correlations. We further introduce a differentiable IDER objective that aligns these statistics across genes and can be trained with morphology-derived proxy contrasts without predefined biological group labels. Experiments on public ST datasets show improved DEG-ranking agreement and pathway-enrichment overlap over conventional reconstruction objectives, including morphology-derived and pathologist-annotated tissue-region evaluations.

Humanoid rigging for modern characters with complex garments remains challenging due to the need for dense auxiliary skeletons and precise skinning control. Existing automatic methods primarily recover rigs from geometry, providing limited artist control over auxiliary articulation and often lacking explicit semantic or kinematic-chain structure for dense garment bones, leading to instability and weight bleeding. We present TailorRig, a framework that reformulates garment-aware humanoid rigging as a structured, controllable full-rig generation problem. This formulation shifts the goal from automatic rig recovery to artist-driven rig authoring, where both body-template compatibility and auxiliary articulation are explicit design choices. TailorRig exposes two explicit axes of artist control within a unified framework: a user-specified body skeleton template that preserves body-rig compatibility, and artist-provided semantic labels that drive an autoregressive generator to synthesize requested category-specific auxiliary bone chains. To robustly assign skinning weights under dense skeletal configurations, we further introduce a hierarchical chain-to-bone formulation: vertices are first associated to a kinematic chain, and bone weights are then refined within that chain, reducing weight bleeding between spatially adjacent but semantically unrelated structures. We evaluate TailorRig on a diverse set of characters and introduce Human-Mix, a large-scale dataset of over 38,000 humanoid models curated for garment-aware rigging. Experiments show that TailorRig improves skeleton accuracy, deformation stability, controllability, and practical usability over existing methods. Less is More: Compact-Token Masked Feature Prediction for Skeleton Representation Learning

Jeonghyeok Do, Yun Chen, Geunhyuk Youk, Munchurl Kim

原文摘要

Current skeleton representation learning paradigms face distinct limitations: Contrastive Learning (CL) often overlooks fine-grained motion details, while Masked Auto-Encoders (MAE) rely on coordinate-level reconstruction. This reconstruction inherently demands dense token sequences and heavy decoders, wasting pre-training computation on discarded components and forcing downstream inference to process dense token grids. To resolve these bottlenecks, we propose SLiM (Skeleton Less is More), a compact-token framework that unifies masked feature prediction and contrastive learning via a shared encoder. By shifting the objective from raw coordinate reconstruction to decoder-free, teacher-guided feature prediction, SLiM breaks the reliance on dense tokenization and enables effective learning with a highly compact token grid. Crucially, to prevent trivial shortcut learning arising from strong inter-joint dependencies of human, we introduce Semantic Tube Masking together with Skeleton-Aware Augmentations to enforce deep skeletal-temporal reasoning and anatomical consistency. Extensive experiments across multiple downstream protocols demonstrate that SLiM achieves state-of-the-art performance while structurally reducing inference computation by 7.89$\times$ compared to dense-token MAE baselines.

PickMoment: Continuous-Time Single-Image-to-Video via Learning Deblurring and Blur-to-Video

Junseong Shin, Hyeonsu Jo, Daehyun Kim, Tae Hyun Kim

原文摘要

Motion blur arises from the temporal integration of a continuous sharp signal over a finite exposure window, yet existing learning-based methods sidestep this physical model and predict only the sharp signal itself: most single-image deblurring methods recover a single frame at the exposure center, while blur-to-video methods predict a fixed set of frames. We introduce PickMoment, a continuous-time reformulation that directly learns the interval-mean blur over arbitrary sub-intervals of the exposure with a single deterministic model. Drawing an analogy to MeanFlow's average-velocity formulation, we train the model with three supervisions derived from the blur integral: an empirical reconstruction loss from available subframes, an additivity loss that enforces self-consistency across overlapping sub-intervals, and a sharp-frame loss anchored at the zero-interval limit. A single trained model unifies single-image deblurring, blur-to-video generation, and continuous-time pick-a-moment recovery as different queries to the same network, with no separate training for each task. Our PickMoment achieves state-of-the-art performance among generative-based deblurring methods on GoPro and HIDE while competitive against restoration-based methods on RealBlur, and the highest per-frame fidelity on GoPro-7 blur-to-video, all in a single forward pass without iterative sampling.

Gaussian Light Field Splatting: A Physical Prior-Driven Vision Transformer for Low-Light Image Enhancement

Yuhan Chen, Wenxuan Yu, Guofa Li, Fuchen Li, Kunyang Huang, Yicui Shi, Ying Fang, Wenbo Chu 等 9 位作者

原文摘要

Existing low-light image enhancement methods often suffer from local exposure imbalance and color distortion under complex, non-uniform illumination, while mainstream Vision Transformers lack explicit modeling of physics-based priors for illumination degradation. To address these limitations, we propose GLFS, a Gaussian Light Field Splatting-based Vision Transformer that incorporates continuous light-field priors from 2D Gaussian Splatting (2DGS) as an explicit physical bias into the Transformer self-attention mechanism to guide spatial gain estimation under complex non-uniform illumination. Specifically, GLFS represents scene illumination as a superposition of anisotropic Gaussian basis functions and introduces a physics-informed bias into the self-attention mechanism to adaptively infer a spatial gain field, enabling accurate and spatially uniform restoration under complex illumination conditions. To mitigate color shifts and structural degradation during enhancement, we further introduce a color vector angular loss and a luminance edge loss, with the former enforcing hue consistency and the latter improving the structural fidelity of local details. Extensive ablation studies and quantitative evaluations demonstrate that GLFS achieves competitive overall performance in illumination correction, structure preservation, and perceptual quality, validating the effectiveness of the continuous Gaussian light field prior for low-light image enhancement.

ODDR: One-Step Deshadow Diffusion via Reward Guidance

原文摘要

Recent advances in deep learning for shadow removal have significantly enhanced image quality and realism. However, most approaches rely on real-world paired datasets, which are costly to collect and often limited in scene diversity, leading to limited generalization. To address these limitations, we propose One-step Deshadow Diffusion via Reward guidance (ODDR), a new framework that achieves efficient and high-fidelity shadow removal without relying on real-world paired supervision. Our method begins with One-step Deshadow Diffusion (ODD), a baseline model trained on synthetic shadow data for efficient one-step shadow-free reconstruction. We further adapt ODD into ODDR using ShadowReward. In contrast to traditional, annotation-heavy approaches, ShadowReward is the first reward model for shadow removal trained entirely without human annotation. It learns to mimic human perceptual judgments by ranking synthetically generated images with controlled degradations, such as texture distortion and boundary artifacts. This reward-guided fine-tuning enables ODDR to close the synthetic-to-real domain gap. Extensive experiments show that ODD achieves strong performance without relying on real-world paired supervision, and ODDR further improves the results, narrowing the gap to fully supervised methods trained on real-world paired data while maintaining higher computational efficiency as a single-step model.

FacEDiT: Talking Head Video Editing via Facial Motion Infilling

Kim Sung-Bin, Joohyun Chang, David Harwath, Tae-Hyun Oh

原文摘要

Editing a local segment of a talking head video without reshooting the scene remains challenging and underexplored. Local edits, such as insertion, deletion, or substitution, require synthesizing a replacement segment while leaving the rest of the video unchanged. This involves variable-duration local rewriting while preserving identity, unedited regions, and boundary continuity, which standard speech-driven generation and lip synchronization methods do not directly address. Moreover, direct supervision is impractical, as it would require paired videos of the same person and scene that differ only in a local spoken segment. We instead formulate talking head video editing as facial motion infilling, a self-supervised pretext task that recovers masked facial motion from speech and surrounding motion context using ordinary video--speech pairs. Our key insight is that local video editing can be simulated during training by masking a motion span and reconstructing it from speech and visible motion context. Building on this formulation, we introduce FacEDiT, a mask-controlled talking head model with a local temporal attention bias and temporal smoothness regularization to improve lip--speech alignment and transition continuity. We also introduce FacEDiTBench, the first benchmark for talking head video editing, covering diverse edit types and lengths with dedicated evaluation metrics. Extensive experiments show that FacEDiT produces accurate, speech-aligned edits with strong identity preservation and seamless boundary transitions. Beyond editing, the same facial motion infilling model extends to portrait animation and lip synchronization by simply changing the mask pattern, establishing FacEDiT as a unified framework for talking head video editing and generation.

When GeoFMs Meet VHR: Benchmarking Foundation Models on Very High Resolution Earth Observation Imagery

Kshitij Raj Sharma, Pierre Adorni, Minh-Tan Pham, Dirk Tiede, Sébastien Lefèvre

原文摘要

Geospatial foundation models are a widely adopted starting point for remote sensing tasks. Most are pretrained on Sentinel-1/2 and Landsat imagery at a ground sampling distance (GSD) of 10m or coarser. Many applications instead rely on very high resolution (VHR) imagery, where individual buildings, roads, and amenities are resolved. We study which pretraining regimes transfer well to this scale. We introduce VHR-Bench, a benchmark suite of ten datasets at 1.5m GSD or finer spanning five task families, eight application domains, and both satellite and aerial platforms. We evaluate twelve encoders in three pretraining tiers with frozen backbones at two training-data fractions. We find that both pretraining on large natural-image collections and VHR-specific pretraining transfer effectively to VHR tasks, with complementary strengths. SkySense leads when labels are scarce; at the full label fraction the web-pretrained DINOv3 ViT-L edges ahead, with the two close together there. Encoders pretrained only on Sentinel-scale imagery transfer least well under RGB input. Guided by these complementary results, we continue the self-supervised pretraining of DINOv3 ViT-L on 1.02 million held-out VHR tiles and evaluate the resulting encoder without changing the downstream protocol. The continued model gives a clear improvement over the released backbone when labels are scarce and a modest one at the full fraction, at no increase in inference parameters or compute. These findings support a generalize-then-specialize strategy: already strong, broad natural-image pretraining can be further improved by a short VHR continuation stage while preserving its general visual features.

We propose FluxC, a zero-shot codec that uses Flux as a compression prior. Although DiffC has shown that pretrained diffusion models can serve as zero-shot codecs, we ask how the choice of coding path and reconstruction method affects rate--distortion--perception behavior. We analyze FluxC along three axes: coding cost and bit allocation, reconstruction method, and low rate distortion. At matched signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), we show that the path choice does not affect the ideal information rate, but changes how bits are allocated across time steps. For reconstruction, we compare ancestral sampling, one-step ODE reconstruction, and many-step ODE reconstruction. Our analysis shows that ODE-based reconstruction can achieve lower distortion than ancestral sampling, especially in the low rate regime. Experiments on Gaussian sources and natural images support this prediction. Moreover, FluxC performs competitively with, and in some cases outperforms, recent neural image compression methods, suggesting that Flux can serve as a principled zero-shot codec.

原文摘要

Omni-modal models can answer questions about video, but their predictions rarely show which participant, event, or interval supports an answer. Moreover, answer-level supervision alone does not teach a model to interpret structured video evidence. To systematically mitigate this issue, we present THG-Omni, a human-centric graph-supervision framework that links Segment Anything Model~3 participant tracks with temporally grounded Qwen3-VL annotations. Candidate semantic claims are checked against the source video and available audio before they are used to construct training questions, while track geometry provides explicit spatial and temporal supervision. The resulting questions teach an omni-modal reasoning model to interpret participant attributes, actions, affect, interactions, and their timing from a structured graph. At inference, THG-Omni uses a predicted graph constructed from the evaluation video. Experiments on IntentBench show consistent improvements over the unadapted backbone across social reasoning, emotion understanding, and deception perception. On NExT-QA, THG-Omni achieves 89.54\% accuracy with the matched graph, compared with 85.10\% without graph input. Further validation experiments show that compact graph input achieves 78.22\% accuracy, compared with 78.02\% using the full graph and 77.58\% without graph input. A complementary diagnostic demonstrates that the predicted graph preserves evidence useful for answering questions even without the source video and audio. Together, these findings show that THG-Omni improves human-centric video reasoning while grounding its evidence in identifiable participants and events. BiGrounder: Bidirectional Training Unlocks the Potential of GUI Grounding

原文摘要

Graphical User Interface (GUI) grounding aims to map natural language instructions to precise operational coordinates, serving as a critical task for autonomous agent interaction. Current approaches formalize GUI grounding as predicting action-coordinate pairs from instructions, with end-to-end training supervised solely by final coordinates. Training datasets typically provide only a small number of descriptions per target coordinate, whereas real-world scenarios involve a much larger set of varied descriptions for the same target, which limits robustness to linguistic variation. While recent GUI grounding paradigms have begun employing reinforcement learning to enhance localization accuracy, models with limited exploratory capability before reinforcement yield constrained improvements even with identical training data during the reinforcement phase. To overcome these limitations, we propose a bidirectional reward paradigm that enables model self-reinforcement. During SFT, bidirectional training equips the model to generate action descriptions from target coordinates. During RL, the model samples semantically consistent instruction variations on-policy and grounds each variation back to its target. A cycle-consistency gate couples semantic quality to grounding success, turning the model's own instruction policy into a source of continually refreshed reinforcement trajectories. Our 4B-parameter model achieves competitive accuracy across five grounding benchmarks in our evaluation, indicating the effectiveness of the proposed training paradigm. https://github.com/Spell-shi/BiGrounder

Memory before Goal: Role of Pre-History Memory for Humanoid Loco-Manipulation

Chenyuan Chen, Ran Ding, Lechen Zhang, Zewen He, Yoshihiko Nakamura

原文摘要

Humanoid loco-manipulation in dynamic scenes is non-Markovian: cues vanish as objects change or are hidden, or leave the view as the robot turns and walks, yet whole-body vision-language-action (VLA) policies see only the present. We present WholeBodyMem, an object-guided perceptual memory that keeps the pre-history of object events seen before the robot acts on its goal. SAM3 tracks the task objects, and their events causally select key frames within an adaptive budget, which the action expert reads by cross-attention together with object tokens encoding appearance, geometry and time. We also contribute HuMeGo, a humanoid memory benchmark with six simulated and six real-world Unitree G1 tasks. Keeping the right frames rather than more frames, WholeBodyMem surpasses memoryless and uniform-memory baselines, raising its base policy's success from 29.1% to 72.6% in simulation and from 36.7% to 88.3% on the real robot, while also improving the standard SIMPLE tasks (70.2% to 86.9%).

Multimodal Information Interactions Bottleneck for Multimodal Self-Supervised Learning

原文摘要

Multimodal self-supervised learning is challenged by heterogeneity, unequal informativeness, and complex information interactions across multimodal data sources such as images, text, audio, and tabular data. While contrastive methods effectively align shared semantics, they typically rely on strong multi-view redundancy assumptions, overlooking modality-specific and synergistic information, thus leading to suboptimal representations. We propose the Multimodal Information Interactions Bottleneck (MIIB), a principled framework grounded in Partial Information Decomposition that explicitly encodes redundant, unique, and synergistic information within multimodal interactions. MIIB employs a dual-path model architecture for modality-specific encoding and multimodal fusion, optimized using surrogate tractable entropy-based objectives that enforce minimal sufficient representations without requiring explicit mutual information estimation. By leveraging variational bounds and score-based entropy estimation, MIIB efficiently captures complex cross-modal interactions while suppressing superfluous information. Experiments across diverse benchmarks demonstrate consistent improvements over state-of-the-art multimodal self-supervised methods. Code is available at https://github.com/wanglingzaishi/MIIB.

RoboCurate: Harnessing Diversity with Action-Verified Synthetic Data for Robot Learning

Seungku Kim, Suhyeok Jang, Byungjun Yoon, Dongyoung Kim, John Won, Jinwoo Shin

原文摘要

Synthetic data generated by video generative models has shown promise for robot learning as a scalable pipeline, but it often suffers from noisy action labels due to imperfect video generation or inaccurate action prediction. Recently, vision-language models (VLMs) have been leveraged to validate video quality, but they cannot directly evaluate the generated actions themselves. To tackle this issue, we introduce RoboCurate, a novel framework for action-verified synthetic robot data that addresses inconsistencies between generated videos and annotated actions. Specifically, RoboCurate executes the actions predicted by an inverse dynamics model (IDM) in a simulator and verifies action consistency by measuring the motion agreement between the simulator rollout and the generated video. To better leverage such a framework, we further expand the scene diversity of synthetic data beyond the available dataset through off-the-shelf generative models with structured editing axes. We then use a VLM to pre-filter physically implausible generated videos before verifying their action labels. Across diverse manipulation scenarios, RoboCurate yields substantial relative improvements in success rates compared to using only real data, achieving +90.3% on GR-1 Tabletop (300 demos), +29.1% on DexMimicGen in the pre-training setup on simulation benchmarks, and +179.9% and +42.9% in the co-finetuning setup on challenging real-world ALLEX and OpenArm humanoid benchmarks, respectively.

AffineGS: Unlocking Accurate Geometry in 3DGS via Spatially Varying Affine Rectification

Tze Ho Elden Tse, Jizong Peng, Richard Chen, Angela Yao

原文摘要

3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) has become the leading approach for photorealistic novel view synthesis, yet its geometric accuracy lags behind its visual quality. Existing depth-guided methods attempt to resolve this by regularizing the optimization with monocular depth priors, typically using a single global scale-and-shift alignment. Crucially, we discover a fundamental flaw in this assumption: modern monocular depth networks systematically exhibit region-dependent, piecewise-linear distortions. This discovery invalidates standard global alignment strategies, which warp scene geometry by enforcing a single transform. To address this, we introduce a spatially varying affine rectification model that corrects monocular disparity into consistent metric depth using regionally smooth, edge-aware fields. We further derive a normal-aware regularizer that uses spatial gradients to couple the rectified disparity with 3DGS depth and normals. Across diverse experimental settings, our sensor-free method shows strong photometric quality of Gaussian Splatting while substantially improving geometric accuracy and outperforming state-of-the art geometry-focused methods.

DEQ-Det: Dual Evidence Queries for Few-Shot Analog IC Device Detection

原文摘要

Detecting analog integrated circuit (IC) devices in layout images supports circuit analysis and inspection. With only a few annotated examples, variation in device geometry and visual similarity to dummy or routing structures make reliable detection difficult. Foreground similarity alone can highlight plausible targets without distinguishing them from competing layout patterns. We propose Dual Evidence Queries for Detection (DEQ-Det), which constructs complementary foreground and background references from the same support images without additional annotations. Foreground references capture target morphology, while selected background references characterize surrounding layout patterns. Both sources guide query selection and region verification, combining target appearance with layout context. Across five held-out device categories and three random seeds, DEQ-Det achieves macro AP50 of 39.41 and 53.03 at 10 and 30 shots, exceeding the strongest listed baselines by 3.97 and 9.71 points, respectively. A matched 30-shot ablation further shows that RoI background evidence reduces pooled false positives at comparable recall, supporting its role in interference suppression.

V-LUMEN: Visual Lookup Memory for Embedding Scaling in Vision-Language Models

Miso Choi, Daekeun Kim, Eunji Kim, Jungbeom Lee

原文摘要

Embedding-level scaling expands the capacity of language models through lookup-based memory rather than by increasing model depth, width, or dense computation. Extending this idea to vision-language models (VLMs) is challenging because visual features are continuous, spatially structured, and query-dependent, unlike discrete text tokens that naturally support n-gram lookup. We introduce V-LUMEN, a visual lookup memory for VLMs. V-LUMEN discretizes visual features with a frozen codebook, builds spatially aware memory keys through spatial aggregation-based hashing, and modulates them with text-conditioned relevance signals; all addressing is non-parametric, and the retrieved embeddings are fused into the backbone through a gated residual pathway. On five reasoning-intensive benchmarks, V-LUMEN substantially improves a frozen Qwen3-VL-2B backbone and transfers zero-shot to three benchmarks whose images are disjoint from the training data. At a matched parameter budget, moving part of a LoRA or MoE adapter's capacity into V-LUMEN preserves accuracy on two backbones, indicating that external visual memory is an independent capacity axis rather than a stronger adaptation method. Because lookup cost is constant in table size and incurred only once at prefill, this capacity grows in storage rather than in per-token compute. LSD-3D: Large-Scale 3D Driving Scene Generation with Geometry Grounding

Julian Ost, Andrea Ramazzina, Amogh Joshi, Maximilian Bömer, Mario Bijelic, Felix Heide

原文摘要

Large-scale scene data is essential for training and testing in robot learning. Neural reconstruction methods have promised the capability of reconstructing large physically-grounded outdoor scenes from captured sensor data. However, these methods have baked-in static environments and only allow for limited scene control -- they are functionally constrained in scene and trajectory diversity by the captures from which they are reconstructed. In contrast, generating driving data with recent image or video diffusion models offers control, however, at the cost of geometry grounding and causality. In this work, we aim to bridge this gap and present a method that directly generates large-scale 3D driving scenes with accurate geometry, allowing for causal novel view synthesis with object permanence and explicit 3D geometry estimation. The proposed method combines the generation of a proxy geometry and environment representation with score distillation from learned 2D image priors. We find that this approach allows for high controllability, enabling the prompt-guided geometry and high-fidelity texture and structure that can be conditioned on map layouts -- producing realistic and geometrically consistent 3D generations of complex driving scenes.

CoGenRec: A Unified Generative Framework for Complementary Vision Reconstruction

原文摘要

Capturing scenes with extreme motion and high dynamic range is fundamentally constrained by trade-offs among temporal resolution, spatial detail, signal-to-noise ratio, and dynamic range under practical bandwidth, power, and quantum-efficiency limits. Conventional frame-based cameras therefore suffer from temporal undersampling, exposure-induced motion blur, and sensor saturation. The Complementary Vision Sensor (CVS) addresses these limitations by decomposing visual information across two complementary pathways, a spatially dense, temporally sparse, long-exposure RGB pathway and a temporally dense, spatially sparse, short-exposure patiotemporal difference pathway. Their complementary measurements provide appearance, structural, and motion cues across a wide dynamic range that enable reconstruction beyond conventional imaging. We present CoGenRec, a complementarity-driven generative reconstruction framework that unifies video deblurring, high-temporal-resolution frame interpolation, and HDR fusion. CoGenRec encodes complementary measurements into multi-scale spatiotemporal features using exposure-aware appearance modeling and bidirectional temporal propagation. These features constrain a video diffusion model and are injected into the VAE decoder to recover fine structures lost during latent-space compression, combining the scene fidelity of physical measurements with the appearance recovery capabilities of learned video priors. On SportsSloMo-CVS, CoGenRec improves PSNR over the strongest general-purpose baseline by 4.40 dB for deblurring, 3.89 dB for frame interpolation, and 5.04 dB for HDR fusion, respectively. It also achieves strong perceptual quality on 129 unseen scenes captured with real CVS. These results establish a unified approach to advance high-quality reconstruction under challenging motion and illumination conditions. Project page: https://cogenrec.github.io/.
