Context-Aware Autoregressive Image Generation for Emerging Reasoning Properties

Jixuan Ying, Haoyu Liu, Timing Yang, Tingyu Zhu, Predrag Neskovic, Anand Bhattad, Cihang Xie, Zeyu Zheng 等 10 位作者

Autoregressive image generation has recently emerged as a competitive visual generation paradigm, yet its generation order is often predefined or heuristic, such as next-patch prediction, random-order prediction, or one-step generation for specific scales. We observe that these strategies can cause models to overlook important structural dependencies in images, thereby limiting both structural robustness and reasoning capability. In this work, we propose a context-aware autoregressive generation framework, where the model dynamically determines the next token location based on global context and current local information. Rather than following a fixed or random order, our method allows the generation process to adapt to image structure and semantic dependencies. Extensive experiments show that context-aware generation significantly improves structural robustness across different image AR paradigms, including masked autoregressive and scale-wise autoregressive models. Beyond quantitative improvements, we further observe emerging reasoning properties: the model can better understand complex semantic instructions and generate images that more faithfully follow the given guidance. These findings suggest that generation order is a critical yet underexplored factor in image autoregressive modeling, and that context-aware decoding can unlock stronger reasoning-aware visual generation capabilities. Interactive World Simulation with Cosmos for Physical AI

NVIDIA, :, Anis Ahmad, Jon Allen, Malik Aqeel Anwar, Jesse Archer, Maciej Bala, Piotr Barejko 等 90 位作者

We present a shared framework that adapts Cosmos world foundation models for real-time interactive world simulation in Physical AI. By streaming visual observations in response to actions and scene controls, the framework enables users and embodied agents to interact with evolving virtual environments. It supports both predicting the visual consequences of actions and generating observations from physical state maintained by an external simulator. We demonstrate this approach across camera navigation and robot manipulation, controllable video transfer, and multi-view autonomous vehicle (AV) simulation. These examples provide a shared foundation for developing interactive virtual environments for Physical AI training and evaluation. Our code and model checkpoints are available at https://github.com/nvidia/cosmos and https://huggingface.co/collections/nvidia/cosmos3-examples. ReactWorld: Structuring Interaction Responses for Embodied Video Generation

Hanwei Liu, Huijia Zhang, Hanzhang Wang, Guangyu Liu, Hanbei Zhan, Linjie Hu, Bin Xiao, Xuan Zhou 等 9 位作者

Embodied video world models predict scene changes caused by robot actions, yet generated object responses may remain inconsistent with task intent and contact dynamics. Critical responses in embodied scenes often concentrate in local regions and specific time intervals. Inspired by chain-of-thought reasoning, we introduce ReactWorld, an embodied video generation model guided by structured interaction anticipation. In the generation backbone's feature space, an interaction response field predictor anticipates how the interaction will unfold, explicitly describing participant roles, future motion response intensity, and local motion changes. A response feedback adapter forms increments to object features from the difference between the object branch's outputs with predicted and zeroed local dynamics inputs. It also converts predicted displacements into positional biases for temporal attention. These two mechanisms guide object feature updates and information retrieval across frames, respectively. Through interaction anticipation and generative feedback, ReactWorld achieves an average score of 77.51 on RBench, outperforming PhysisForcing by 3.29 points with improvements in all nine categories. On EZS-Bench, it achieves a Domain score of 86.98 and an average score of 81.87.

Bridging the Modality Bottleneck in Pathology MIL through Molecularly Guided Feature Adaptation

Yucheng Xing, Pei Liu, Jingying Ma, Ruping Hong, Jiangdong Qiu, Tianyu Liu, Kai He, Ling Huang 等 9 位作者

Multiple instance learning (MIL) is the dominant framework for whole-slide image analysis in computational pathology, typically combining a frozen patch encoder, a projection layer, and a slide-level aggregator. While encoders and aggregators have been extensively studied, the projection layer remains a largely morphology-only bottleneck. This limits endpoints such as biomarker status and survival, which are governed by a molecular state that is not fully captured by H&E morphology. We introduce Molecularly Informed Staining Transform (MIST), a plug-in replacement for the MIL projection layer that uses paired spatial transcriptomics only during training to construct virtual molecular stains. MIST clusters gene expression profiles into cross-modal prototypes, anchors them in the frozen foundation model feature space, and uses them to reorganize H&E patch features along molecularly guided axes. It requires no transcriptomics at inference and can be inserted before standard MIL aggregators. We evaluate MIST across 23 downstream tasks and 8 MIL aggregators. MIST improves 240 of 256 configurations over the standard projection layer, with an average gain of +3.5%, observed consistently across endpoint types: +5.2% on survival prediction, +3.3% on tissue subtyping, and +2.6% on biomarker prediction. Ablations confirm that gene-derived prototypes are the primary source of the gains, while spatial, biological, and pathological analyses show that cross-modal prototype affinities capture spatially coherent molecular programs from H&E alone.

Behind Video Generation: Observations and Insights on Multimodal Understanding from Kling

Kling Team, Dong Chen, Jialu Chen, Xinlong Chen, Yifan Dai, Haotian Dong, Binzong Geng, Yushuo Guan 等 53 位作者

Video generation has progressed from isolated clips to coherent short-form audiovisual sequences, and the bottleneck is shifting from rendering to semantic control. This report summarizes the observations and insights on multimodal understanding gained from successive generations of Kling. We argue that generation quality is the projection of multimodal understanding through the entire data--conditioning--alignment--evaluation chain, and we examine this chain module by module. Kling-MLLM, a shared multimodal foundation model that unifies image, video, audio, synchronized audio--video, and interleaved inputs, is specialized for each downstream module. Because a DiT is trained on far fewer training samples than a language model, we treat captioning as a semantic contract that maximizes description density, and extend it to reference-grounded captioning that makes reference bindings explicit. Prompt enhancement translates user intent into this caption distribution: basic PE is derived from captions of compelling videos and refined with text-level and generator-in-the-loop reinforcement learning, while agentic PE refines the story and retrieves compelling examples. We show that a reliable text encoder comes from perceptual training rather than from stronger language ability, and that candidates can be screened from text alone before end-to-end training. Reward modeling pairs a general reward model for explainable, localized critiques with a decision reward model for fast multidimensional scoring, treating perceptual bandwidth as a first-class design parameter. Finally, we review task-specific automatic evaluation, focusing on protocols that expose scoring shortcuts and help trace failures to their upstream source. We hope these lessons offer practical guidance for building the understanding stack behind controllable video generation.

GroundSeek-CXR: Retrospective Evaluation-Guided Active Observation Framework for Multi-Label Chest Radiography Diagnosis

Yihang Fu, Xinyu Liu, Qing Xu, Xiaofeng Yang, Zhen Chen

Chest radiography (CXR) diagnosis is critical for thoracic disease assessment, yet challenged by the need to identify subtle lesions and co-occurring abnormalities across regions. While recent vision-language models can actively observe local regions, existing preference-based methods supervise each observation by its immediate effect on the current diagnosis, failing to capture how each observation and stopping decision contributes to the final diagnosis. To address this issue, we propose GroundSeek-CXR, an active CXR diagnosis framework that learns observation and stopping decisions by retrospectively evaluating them with the final diagnosis. Specifically, we first devise a Retrospective Diagnostic Evaluation (RDE) that scores observation and stop candidates from offline Monte Carlo tree search through independent continuations. Moreover, we design a Retrospective Gap-weighted Preference Optimization (RGPO) that learns from retrospective-score preferences weighted by their score gaps, prioritizing actions that improve diagnostic accuracy. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our GroundSeek-CXR framework outperforms state-of-the-art methods, and improves abnormal-image sample-F1 by 4.48% over immediate-score preference learning.

Reviso: Not All Visual Evidence Deserves Equal Attention in Video Captioning

Tengfei Liu, Yang Shi, Yuran Wang, Yuqi Tang, Yizhuo Jia, Zhuoran Zhang, Qixun Wang, Shujie Li 等 15 位作者

Multimodal large language models (MLLMs) can generate detailed video captions, yet they may overemphasize minor details while overlooking essential context and key events. We argue that not all visual evidence deserves equal attention, as the importance of visual information depends on the content of each video. Motivated by this observation, we propose Reviso, an agentic video captioning framework that learns what to observe and how to gather relevant visual evidence. From a low-frame-rate global preview, Reviso constructs a hierarchical Context--Focus--Points (CFP) observation plan that identifies the video context, prioritizes key aspects, and defines concrete observation targets and corresponding tools. Guided by this plan, Reviso performs goal-directed active perception by selectively revisiting temporal segments and combining tools for fine-grained inspection. It interprets the acquired evidence, updates its plan as needed, and integrates global and local information to generate the final caption. To learn this observation strategy, we develop a verification-guided pipeline that constructs high-quality training trajectories through factual verification and teacher-guided refinement. We further train Reviso using Group Relative Policy Optimization (GRPO), incorporating a key-fact reward for caption quality, a Plan Alignment Reward (PAR) for identifying important observation targets, and an Unproductive Tool-Call Penalty (UTCP) that adjusts observation-cost penalties based on caption quality. Experiments across four video captioning benchmarks show that Reviso outperforms the evaluated open-source baselines, while its generated captions better support downstream video question answering. These findings highlight the effectiveness and potential of priority-guided active observation for video captioning.

MaskSense: Confronting the Visual Exploration Trap in Masked Image Generation

Yawen Shao, Jie Xiao, Kai Zhu, Yu Liu, Hongchen Luo, Xueyang Fu, Yang Cao, Wei Zhai 等 9 位作者

Reinforcement learning (RL) has shown strong potential for aligning generative models with human intent, but adapting RL to masked generative models (MGMs) remains largely underexplored. Existing approaches that directly adapt Group Relative Policy Optimization (GRPO) to MGMs leave a foundational conflict unaddressed: MGMs' exploitative decoding nature is inherently at odds with the exploratory diversity that GRPO presupposes. In this work, we reveal a structural decoding bias termed the visual exploration trap: confidence-based sampling trades the exploration of diverse subject realizations for the greedy resolution of low-uncertainty background regions, causing premature collapse of the generative exploration space and starving GRPO of the rollout diversity it depends on. To this end, we propose MaskSense, a novel RL framework for MGMs that confronts the visual exploration trap at both the sampling and optimization stages. Specifically, we introduce a semantic anchored routing sampling mechanism that leverages semantic priors to preserve high-entropy subject token exploration while amplifying intra-group reward variance through exploratory-exploitative routing to yield more discriminative advantage estimates. Furthermore, we design a global entropy transition anchoring strategy to identify the most consequential decoding steps and concentrate gradient updates on them. Extensive experiments on multiple text-to-image benchmarks demonstrate that MaskSense substantially improves upon the base model, with GenEval accuracy improving from 54% to 86% and HPS from 28.89 to 36.39, achieving state-of-the-art performance.

Rethinking the Readout: Unlocking Video Backbones for AI-Generated Video Detection

Manni Cui, Ziheng Qin, ZiAn Wang, Ruiqi Liu, Dianyuan Zou, Jianglan Wei, Han Zhou, Yu Liu 等 11 位作者

AI-generated videos (AIGVs) typically contain subtle temporal artifacts that arise from inter-frame inconsistencies rather than within individual frames. A detector that captures such artifacts should therefore benefit from video pretrained backbones over image only ones. In practice, however, video backbones with standard global readouts often fail to outperform strong image pretrained probes on AIGV benchmarks. We attribute this gap to excessive spatiotemporal aggregation in the readout. Video pretrained backbones tend to compress each frame into a single global descriptor. This compression suppresses local patch level temporal dynamics and discards inter patch relations, which are precisely the cues that AIGV detection most reliably depends on. Based on this, we propose Velocity Gated Patch Velocity Profiling (V-PVP), a lightweight readout that replaces only the aggregation layer with two parallel streams over the patch velocity field, adding only about $0.5$M trainable parameters. V-PVP serves as a general plug-and-play module that consistently improves performance across diverse video backbones under both end-to-end fine-tuning and linear probing settings. Our method reaches 95.28 AUC on AIGVDBench while keeping the backbone fully frozen. The results show that simply replacing the aggregation layer reactivates the temporal potential of frozen video backbones, restoring their advantage on AIGV detection. Code is available at https://github.com/manic-cui/Rethinking-the-readout.

Advances in Agentic Computer Graphics

Hengyu Liu, Jihyeon Je, Ruiqi Wang, Mingxuan Wu, Haven Feng, Qixing Huang, Georgios Pavlakos, Hao Zhang 等 14 位作者

Computer graphics is built on code. Large language model (LLM) agents can now generate graphics code and iteratively refine it through various feedback. This capability opens the door to a potentially new paradigm of computer graphics, with graphics algorithms increasingly built around agentic systems to automate progressively complex tasks. Over the past years, research on agentic graphics has expanded rapidly across a diverse range of tasks. This rapid growth makes it increasingly difficult for manual literature reviews to keep pace with new developments. At the same time, similar ideas are often described using different terminology across these tasks, further complicating efforts to develop a systematic understanding of the field. In this report, we address these challenges through two contributions. First, we introduce a unified taxonomy for characterizing agentic systems across diverse computer graphics tasks. Second, we develop an agentic literature system that can assist human researchers in analyzing existing and newly published papers at scale. Building on these contributions, we analyze emerging research trends and discuss open challenges in coordinating agents and tools across graphics tasks, designing interfaces and representations for human-agent collaboration, sustaining long-horizon planning and refinement, and reliably evaluating interactive graphics systems.

Cross-Encoder Anchor Refinement for Zero-Shot Anomaly Detection

Kaisong Ji, Ziyang Xu, Chang Bian, Yu Zhou, Wenyu Liu, Xinggang Wang

Zero-shot anomaly detection aims to transfer anomaly discrimination from auxiliary training domains to unseen categories while localizing subtle defects. A key challenge is to construct discriminative references that combine contextual representations with complementary local evidence. We present Cross-Encoder Anchor Refinement (CEAR), which connects two visual encoding paths for the same image at the anchor stage, before normal and anomalous prototypes are constructed. An independent convolutional encoder pretrained for industrial product recognition builds an image-specific memory shared across selected vision transformer (ViT) layers. Spatial anchors read from ViT patch features query this memory through cross-attention and undergo residual refinement. Image-conditioned normal and anomalous queries then gate anchor aggregation to construct prototypes for anomaly scoring. Across 13 industrial and medical datasets, CEAR achieves the best performance in 57 of 68 evaluations spanning image-level detection and pixel-level localization. Notably, CEAR surpasses all other state-of-the-art methods in 41 of 44 pixel-level comparisons. Across 11 localization datasets, mean gains in pixel-level maximum F1 score and average precision are 4.45 and 3.79 percentage points, respectively. This study shows how cross-encoder interaction at the anchor stage can integrate complementary visual representations for fine-grained anomaly localization across domains.

离散视觉Token能否作为视觉信号的语义无损表示?

Can Discrete Tokens Serve as Semantically Lossless Representations of Visual Signals?

AI 速览:作者重新审视量化误差导致语义损失的假设,提出有效比特预算才是关键,并引入因子化向量量化(FVQ)使离散表示在多模态理解上媲美连续表示。

Discrete visual tokens represent vision in a discrete form analogous to language, offering a native interface for multimodal modeling under a shared next-token prediction objective. However, quantization error is widely assumed to cause unavoidable semantic loss, fundamentally limiting the semantic fidelity of discrete visual tokens and positioning continuous visual representations as an intrinsic upper bound. Using multimodal understanding as a proxy for semantic fidelity, we revisit this assumption and find quantization error unreliable, as discrete representations with substantially larger errors can achieve better understanding. Instead, the effective bit budget of discrete indices emerges as a key determinant of downstream performance. However, existing quantizers eventually saturate as additional codebooks contribute progressively less semantic information. As one approach to alleviating this saturation, we introduce Factorized Vector Quantization, which quantizes complementary, fixed-dimensional views of the visual feature with symmetric parallel codebooks. It continues to improve at larger bit budgets, ultimately matching continuous visual representations in multimodal understanding. Trained on industrial-scale multimodal data, our model achieves state-of-the-art performance among discrete-representation models, outperforming UniAR and Emu3-Chat by 22.8% and 59.2%, respectively, on a nine-metric average. To our knowledge, it is also the first discrete-representation model competitive with strong continuous-representation models such as Qwen3-VL, including on fine-grained OCR tasks. We further identify the key principles and a practical recipe enabling this competitiveness. These results and insights support the potential of discrete visual representations to underpin large-scale native multimodal foundation models. GUI-JEPA: Candidate-Conditioned JEPA Latents as a Fast Action Policy for Mobile GUI Agents

Bingchao Wang, Yongcheng Jing, Shunyu Liu, Chengyu Wang, Jun Huang, Jie Yang, Wei Liu, Dacheng Tao

Mobile GUI agents are typically fine-tuned 7B-scale vision-language models (VLMs) that generate each action as text. However, these VLMs decode every action token by token, and even agents that score candidate actions keep a large language model or VLM in the loop, making them slow and memory-hungry. To address these issues, we propose GUI-JEPA, to our knowledge the first decoder-free GUI agent policy built on a Joint-Embedding Predictive Architecture (JEPA), which selects actions in the latent space of a JEPA encoder pretrained on unlabelled GUI screenshots. Its action- and region-conditioned latent predictor turns the screen latent into one latent per candidate action, letting lightweight heads score all candidates against the instruction in a single batched pass, without decoding a token. We further show that the scorer relies on this latent pathway and that the predictor is trained for the decision itself: a randomly initialised predictor does just as well as one pretrained on screen dynamics. On AndroidControl, GUI-JEPA is 2.8-4.0x faster on the same GPU than a Qwen2.5-VL-7B agent we fine-tune with the same inputs, while reaching 86-92% of its in-distribution accuracy with 6% of its parameters. Code is available at https://github.com/bcwang-sjtu/GUI-JEPA

FOCUS: A Subspecialty Foundation Model for Intraoperative Central Nervous System Pathology

Xing Liu, Yifan Guo, Hongtai Lv, Lei Lou, Yuyi Tan, Jiang Du, Xijia Zhang, Ming Zhang 等 21 位作者

Intraoperative frozen-section diagnosis of central nervous system (CNS) lesions guides surgical decisions but is challenged by artefacts, diagnostic complexity and time constraints. Most pathology foundation models have limited exposure to CNS frozen tissue. Here we present FOCUS, a subspecialty foundation model pretrained on 27,930 frozen-section whole-slide images enriched for CNS tissue. FOCUS ranked first across all 11 diagnostic and 12 biomarker-prediction tasks in the internal test cohort, achieving mean AUCs of 0.969 and 0.877, respectively. This advantage was retained in the temporal and external test cohorts. We further organized a WHO-aligned diagnostic hierarchy, where FOCUS also outperformed comparator models. In a reader study, FOCUS assistance enabled junior readers to approach or exceed unassisted senior readers in hierarchical diagnostic accuracy and granularity. More importantly, FOCUS assistance enabled readers to correctly identify a mean of 63.0% of initially missed lymphoma cases (73.2% among junior readers), potentially avoiding unnecessary extensive resection. These findings highlight the potential of FOCUS to provide clinically actionable support for intraoperative CNS pathology and inform surgical decisions.

Fed-MAPTrack: Federated Modality-aware Prompt Tuning for RGB-X Tracking

Xiangyu Liu, Yijie Shen, Yue Yin, Zhitong Yin, Yongqi Pan, Wentao Fan

RGB-X tracking complements RGB appearance with thermal, depth, or event observations, but centralized training requires collecting multimodal videos at a single location. Federated training keeps raw videos local, but sensor heterogeneity can create a mismatch between parameter-sharing domains and the clients contributing to them. This mismatch is particularly relevant when RGB-only clients coexist with sensor-equipped clients: their RGB observations remain useful, but they provide no auxiliary measurements for learning sensor-dependent interactions. We propose Fed-MAPTrack, a modality-aware federated prompt tuning framework for RGB-X tracking. The pretrained tracking backbone and prediction head are frozen, and clients optimize and exchange only prompt-related parameters. The server aggregates RGB-shared parameters globally and maintains separate thermal, event, and depth banks for auxiliary-specific, fusion, and normalization parameters. Selective participation retains RGB-only clients' contributions to the global RGB bank while excluding their fusion and normalization updates from modality-specific aggregation. Across three matched training repetitions under a fixed client partition, Fed-MAPTrack improves the mean FedAvg scores by 2.35 AUC points on LasHeR, 3.45 SR points on VisEvent, and 2.11 F-score points on DepthTrack. Among the nine evaluated methods, it achieves the highest mean thermal AUC and depth F-score, while its mean event SR is 0.07 points below that of Independent FL. Controlled ablations show that extending the bucketing scope without a compatible participation rule can reduce performance. These results highlight the need to jointly define the sharing domain and eligible contributors for each parameter group.

MPBoCo: Multimodal Prompt-based Boundary-enhanced Continual Framework for Joint Entity and Relation Extraction

Guanglu Sun Harbin University of Science and Technology, Xinyu Liu, Lili Liang Harbin University of Science and Technology, Yang Yu Harbin University of Science and Technology, Fei Lang Harbin University of Science and Technology, Suxia Zhu, Ming Liu Harbin Institute of Technology

In real-world scenarios, multimodal information continuously evolves, with new entity and relation types emerging, necessitating timely updates to multimodal knowledge graphs for supporting downstream tasks. However, existing methods struggle to balance real-time adaptability and computational efficiency in continual learning scenarios. To this end, this paper proposes the Continual Multimodal Entity and Relation Joint Extraction (CMERJE) task and a Multimodal Prompt-based Boundary-enhanced Continual (MPBoCo) framework. Specifically, MPBoCo incrementally stores task-specific knowledge via learnable multimodal prompts, dynamically matches relevant prompts for each instance, and fuses them into a frozen backbone model for task-specific reasoning. Subsequently, the boundary-enhanced dual-branch module leverages the auxiliary branch to preserve local syntactic continuity and provide boundary guidance. Experimental results demonstrate that MPBoCo achieves superior performance in real-world scenarios, significantly outperforming baseline methods by 5.5% and 7.2% in 10-task and 5-task settings, respectively.

Interleaved Latent Visual Reasoning with Selective Perceptual Modeling

Shuai Dong, Siyuan Wang The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Xingyu Liu, Chenglin Li, Haowen Hou ETHZ - ETH Zurich and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Zhongyu Wei Fudan University

Interleaved reasoning paradigms enhance Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) with visual feedback but are hindered by the prohibitive computational cost of re-encoding pixel-dense images. A promising alternative, latent visual reasoning, circumvents this bottleneck yet faces limitations: methods either fail to capture intermediate state evolution due to single-step, non-interleaved structures, or sacrifice precise perceptual modeling by over-compressing features. We introduce Interleaved Latent Visual Reasoning (ILVR), a framework that unifies dynamic state evolution with precise perceptual modeling. ILVR interleaves textual generation with latent visual representations that act as specific, evolving cues for subsequent reasoning. Specifically, we employ a self-supervision strategy where a momentum teacher model selectively distills relevant features from ground-truth intermediate images into sparse supervision targets. This adaptive selection mechanism guides the model to autonomously generate context-aware visual signals. Extensive experiments on multimodal reasoning benchmarks demonstrate that ILVR outperforms existing approaches, effectively bridging the gap between fine-grained perception and sequential multimodal reasoning.

Generating Attribution Reports for Manipulated Facial Images: A Dataset and Baseline

Jingchun Lian, Lingyu Liu Xi'an Jiaotong University, Yaxiong Wang Hefei University of Technology, Yujiao Wu CSIRO, Lianwei Wu, Li Zhu Xi'an Jiaotong University, Zhedong Zheng University of Macau

Existing facial forgery detection methods typically focus on binary classification or pixel-level localization, providing little semantic insight into the nature of the manipulation. To address this, we introduce Forgery Attribution Report Generation, a new multimodal task designed to provide post-hoc forensic evidence for manipulated images. This task jointly localizes forged regions (“Where“) and generates natural language explanations grounded in the editing process (“Why“). This dual-focus approach goes beyond traditional binary forensics, providing a comprehensive, interpretable understanding of the manipulation. To enable research in this domain, we present Multi-Modal Tamper Tracing (MMTT), a large-scale dataset of 152,217 samples. Each sample features a process-derived ground-truth mask and a human-authored textual description, ensuring high annotation precision and linguistic richness. We further propose ForgeryTalker, a unified end-to-end baseline that integrates vision and language via a shared encoder and dual decoders for mask and text generation. Experiments show that ForgeryTalker achieves competitive performance on both subtasks, i.e., 59.3 CIDEr and 73.67 IoU, establishing a strong baseline for explainable multimedia forensics. Our dataset and code are available at: https://github.com/NattyLianJc/Generating-Attribution-Reports.

On-the-Fly VLA Adaptation via Test-Time Reinforcement Learning

Vision-Language-Action models have recently emerged as a powerful paradigm for general-purpose robot learning, enabling agents to map visual observations and natural-language instructions into executable robotic actions. Though popular, they are primarily trained via supervised fine-tuning or training-time reinforcement learning, requiring explicit fine-tuning phases, human interventions, or controlled data collection. Consequently, existing methods remain unsuitable for challenging simulated- or physical-world deployments, where robots must respond autonomously and flexibly to evolving environments. To address this limitation, we introduce a Test-Time Reinforcement Learning for VLAs (TT-VLA), a framework that enables on-the-fly policy adaptation during inference. TT-VLA formulates a dense reward mechanism that leverages step-by-step task-progress signals to refine action policies during test time while preserving the SFT/RL-trained priors, making it an effective supplement to current VLA models. Empirical results show that our approach enhances overall adaptability, stability, and task success in dynamic, previously unseen scenarios under simulated and real-world settings. We believe TT-VLA offers a principled step toward self-improving, deployment-ready VLAs.

Multimodal Sarcasm Understanding (MSU) comprises multiple subtasks, demanding both incongruity perception and intent reasoning. However, this progress is impeded by two bottlenecks. First, the lack of a unified benchmark for holistic satirical cognition hinders comprehensive evaluation of MSU. Second, jointly modeling these heterogeneous subtasks often leads to feature entanglement. Specifically, while subtasks share a dependence on incongruity, they diverge in granular focus, causing specific execution patterns to erode the fundamental perception capability. To address these challenges, we make two contributions. First, we introduce DocMSU-PLUS, a comprehensive benchmark covering five cognitive dimensions of MSU. All tasks are reformulated into multiple-choice questions (MCQs), enabling a unified accuracy-based evaluation. Second, we propose the Dual Orthogonal Stream Experts (DOSE) framework. DOSE structurally decouples experts into orthogonal shared perception and private execution streams to physically block gradient interference between tasks. Experiments demonstrate that DOSE achieves superior performance on DocMSU-PLUS, effectively balancing general perception with task-specific adaptation.

FastV-RAG: Towards Fast and Fine-Grained Video QA with Retrieval-Augmented Generation

Gen Li Baidu, Peiyu Liu University of International Business and Economics

Vision–Language Models (VLMs) excel at visual reasoning but still struggle with external knowledge integration. Retrieval-Augmented Generation(RAG) is a promising solution, but current methods remain inefficient and often fail to maintain high answer quality. To address these challenges, we propose VideoSpeculateRAG, an efficient VLM-based RAG framework built on two key ideas. First, we introduce a speculative decoding pipeline: a lightweight draft model quickly generates multiple answer candidates, which are then verified and refined by a more accurate heavyweight model, substantially reducing inference latency without sacrificing correctness. Second, we identify a major source of error, incorrect entity recognition in retrieved knowledge, and mitigate it with a simple yet effective similarity-based filtering strategy that improves entity alignment and boosts overall answer accuracy. Experiments demonstrate that VideoSpeculateRAG achieves comparable or higher accuracy than standard RAG approaches, while speeding up the inference by approximately 2x. Our framework highlights the potential of combining speculative decoding with retrieval-augmented reasoning to enhance efficiency and reliability in complex, knowledge-intensive multimodal tasks.

Recent advances in unified multimodal models indicate a clear trend towards comprehensive content generation. However, the auditory domain remains a significant challenge, with music and speech often developed in isolation, hindering progress towards universal audio synthesis. This separation stems from inherent task conflicts between semantic speech and structural music modeling, and severe data imbalances, which impede the development of a truly unified model. To address these challenges, we propose UniMoE-Audio a unified speech and music generation model built upon a novel Dynamic-Capacity Mix-of-Experts (DCMoE) framework. Architecturally, UniMoE-Audio extends the conventional MoE paradigm by introducing a Top-P routing strategy for adaptive capacity allocation. To tackle data imbalance, we introduce a three-stage training curriculum: 1) Independent Specialist Training leverages original datasets to instill domain-specific knowledge into each specialists without interference; 2) MoE Integration and Warmup incorporates these specialists into the UniMoE-Audio architecture, warming up the gate module and shared expert using a subset of balanced dataset; and 3) Synergistic Joint Training trains the entire model end-to-end on the fully balanced dataset, fostering enhanced cross-domain synergy. Extensive experiments show that UniMoE-Audio not only achieves state-of-the-art performance on major speech and music generation benchmarks, but also demonstrates superior synergistic learning, mitigating the performance degradation typically seen in naive joint training. Our findings highlight the substantial potential of specialized MoE architecture and curated training strategies in advancing universal audio generation.

Multimodal abductive reasoning — the generation and selection of explanatory hypotheses from partial observations — is a cornerstone of intelligence. Current evaluations of such ability in vision–language models (VLMs) are largely confined to static, single-agent tasks. Inspired by Dixit, we introduce DixitWorld, a comprehensive evaluation suite designed to deconstruct this challenge. DixitWorld features two core components: DixitArena, a dynamic, multi-agent environment that evaluates both hypothesis generation (a “storyteller” crafting cryptic clues) and hypothesis selection (“listeners” choosing the target image from decoys) under imperfect information; and DixitBench, a static QA benchmark that isolates the listener’s task for efficient, controlled evaluation. Results from DixitArena reveal distinct, role-dependent behaviors: smaller open-source models often excel as creative storytellers, producing imaginative yet less discriminative clues, whereas larger proprietary models demonstrate superior overall performance, particularly as listeners. Performance on DixitBench strongly correlates with listener results in DixitArena, validating it as a reliable proxy for hypothesis selection. Our findings reveal a key trade-off between generative creativity and discriminative understanding in multimodal abductive reasoning, a central challenge for developing more balanced and capable vision-language agents.
