INSIGHT-HPC: An Interpretable System Intelligence for Global HPC Telemetry

Rupak Kadel, Jie Li, Yong Chen

Modern high-performance computing (HPC) clusters integrate multi-generation CPUs and GPUs, which generate rich, high-dimensional telemetry streams from out-of-band baseboard management controllers (BMC), job schedulers, and facility power distribution units. Detecting anomalies within this telemetry is critical to prevent energy waste and costly node failures. Existing approaches often rely primarily on statistical deviations and require stronger labels than actual production environments can provide. In addition, these detectors have a limited operational context for interpreting alerts. We present INSIGHT-HPC, a multi-plane anomaly-detection architecture that combines statistical, workload-aware, and physics-guided evidence into operator-interpretable episodes. INSIGHT-HPC integrates heterogeneous, large-scale telemetry streams and transforms noisy minute-resolution observations into de-duplicated fault episodes with operator-facing explanations. This design allows the system to distinguish workload-explained behavior from genuine infrastructure anomalies while producing interpretable alert summaries for operators. On production HPC telemetry with weak operational labels and controlled HPC-relevant fault injections, INSIGHT-HPC achieves a stronger precision-recall balance than all evaluated baselines. The system achieves a precision of 0.913, a recall of 0.817, an F1 score of 0.862, and an AUROC of 0.896. These results demonstrate the value of combining workload context, physical consistency, and explainable episode-level fusion.

OmniGuide: Universal Spatial Guidance Fields for Enhancing Generalist Robot Policies

Yunzhou Song, Long Le, Yong-Hyun Park, Jie Wang, Junyao Shi, Lingjie Liu, Jiatao Gu, Eric Eaton 等 10 位作者

Vision-language-action (VLA) models have shown great promise as generalist policies for a large range of relatively simple tasks. However, they demonstrate limited performance on more complex tasks, such as those requiring complex spatial or semantic understanding, manipulation in clutter, or precise manipulation. We propose OmniGuide, a flexible framework that improves VLA performance on such tasks by leveraging arbitrary sources of guidance, such as 3D foundation models, semantic-reasoning VLMs, and human pose models. We show how many kinds of guidance can be naturally expressed as differentiable energy functions with task-specific attractors and repellers located in 3D space, that influence the sampling of VLA actions. In this way, OmniGuide enables guidance sources with complementary task-relevant strengths to improve a VLA model's performance on challenging tasks. Extensive experiments in both simulation and real-world environments, across diverse sources of guidance, demonstrate that OmniGuide enhances the performance of state-of-the-art generalist policies (e.g., $π_{0.5}$, GR00T N1.6) significantly across success and safety rates. Critically, our unified framework matches or surpasses the performance of prior methods designed to incorporate specific sources of guidance into VLA policies. Quantifying out-of-distribution data severity with Wasserstein distances: benchmarking large language models for alloy property prediction

YuJie Liu, Dezhen Xue, Jun Sun, Xiangdong Ding, Zhibin Gao, Turab Lookman

As general-purpose Large Language Models (LLMs), such as Gemini and DeepSeek, exhibit increasingly advanced reasoning capabilities, a critical question arises: how do their property prediction abilities compare to those of domain-specific pretrained materials models? In this study, we evaluate predictions for Ti, steels, high-entropy alloy (HEA) and Al, demonstrating that general-purpose LLMs surprisingly outperform SteelBERT, MatSciBERT, and SciBERT. To further enhance performance, we introduce a hybrid approach that utilizes numerical priors from a prior model, such as CatBoost or SteelBERT, to guide the general LLMs (Deepseek V3.1, Gemini-2.5-Flash). By inputting these initial estimates from a prior model as prompts, the LLM acts as a reasoning corrector, achieving accuracy superior to the prior model and "unguided mode". Furthermore, we investigate the impact of data strategy using a similarity-based metric, revealing that data quality dominates quantity; using merely 5% of high-similarity reference data of training set as input yields performance similar to the results of using 100% of training set. Additionally, the LLMs demonstrate excellent uncertainty calibration, where self-reported "high" confidence strongly correlates with minimal deviation from ground truth. Our findings suggest that synergizing general-purpose LLMs with prior model numerical baselines and high-quality data curation creates a cost-effective and accurate paradigm for materials discovery, reducing the need for expensive domain-specific pretraining.

Search-Aware On-Policy Self-Distillation with Sibling Alignment for Generative Recommendation

Rongfeng Guo, Zhuang Zhuang, Ji Dai, Peng Zhao, Shijie Li, Jie Chen, Teng Long, Vincent Tao Hu 等 9 位作者

Generative recommendation retrieves items by autoregressively generating semantic IDs, typically via beam search. On-policy self-distillation (OPSD) enhances training supervision by transferring privileged self-teacher knowledge at student-generated states. However, beam-search retention depends on competition among prefixes: visited states differ in importance, and initially reliable decisions may approach the pruning boundary as training evolves. Moreover, conventional distribution matching couples target-token confidence with preferences among competing continuations, potentially weakening relational supervision when the self-teacher strongly favors the target. To address these challenges, we propose Search-Aware On-Policy Self-Distillation (SA-OPSD), a framework that transfers privileged self-teacher knowledge to the states visited during the student's own beam search. Specifically, we introduce Evolving-Boundary Sampling, which prioritizes search-critical states by considering both current pruning-boundary proximity and initial-reference retention-margin decline under a controlled distillation budget. Furthermore, we develop Confidence-Decoupled Branch Distillation, which separates target-probability calibration from informative sibling relations to better preserve the teacher's preferences among competing branches. Experiments on Industrial, Office, and Instruments demonstrate strong performance for SA-OPSD.

We introduce Nemotron 3.5 Super and Nemotron 3.5 Lightning, open and efficient Mixture-of-Experts Hybrid Mamba-Transformer models designed for reasoning, long-context understanding, and agentic workloads. Super is a 120B-parameter, 12B-active multimodal model, while Lightning is a smaller 30B-parameter, 3B-active text model; both designed for efficient deployment. Both models combine large-scale distillation, long-context training, and native speculative decoding, while Super further incorporates Indic continued pretraining and agentic software-engineering mid-training. We develop a comprehensive post-training pipeline spanning supervised fine-tuning and reinforcement learning (RLVR and RLHF), complemented in Super by specialized teacher training and multi- teacher on-policy distillation (MOPD). This transforms Super from a text-only base model into a multimodal agent capable of reasoning over text, images, video, and interactive tool environments. We further explore test-time scaling through parallel agent execution and self-verification. Across training and deployment, we jointly optimize capability and efficiency. Indic continued pretraining improves Indian-language benchmarks by up to 9.82 percentage points, while agentic mid-training strengthens software-engineering capabilities and robustness across agent harnesses. The post-trained Super model achieves 51.78% on SWE-bench Pro, surpassing Nemotron 3 Ultra despite using approximately 4.6x fewer active parameters. Post-training MTP boosting improves speculative- decoding acceptance length by up to 21.8% under probabilistic draft sampling, while NVFP4 quantization achieves 99.62% median accuracy recovery relative to BF16. Inference optimizations enable up to 4,856 output tokens/s/GPU on GB200 while sustaining at least 50 tokens/s/user.

RankFormer: Rethinking Time Series Transformers through Representation Capacity Analysis and Progressive Decoding

Peiwang Tang, Cheng HE, Xijie Liang, Defu Lian

Multivariate time series forecasting plays a critical role in Web and cyber-physical systems, where large-scale services and IoT infrastructures generate complex temporal data. Transformer-based models have achieved strong empirical performance in this domain, yet the principles governing the expressive capacity of their learned representations remain insufficiently understood. Moreover, many existing models rely on simplified decoding strategies, including channel-independent modeling and direct projection heads, which limit their ability to capture complex multivariate dynamics. To address these challenges, we propose RankFormer, a novel encoder-decoder architecture for multivariate time series forecasting. We establish a rank-based analysis framework to investigate how tokenization, embedding, and attention designs affect the representation capacity of time series Transformers. Our analysis reveals that patchification increases the potential representation capacity by aggregating multiple temporal observations into each token, while subsequent encoding operations determine how much of this capacity is realized. Guided by these insights, we develop a rank-enhancing encoder with Hourglass Attention to improve rank stability during information interaction. Furthermore, we introduce the Interactive Progressive Decoder (IPD), which improves future trajectory modeling through global-guided cross-channel interaction and progressive refinement. Extensive experiments on real-world long-term forecasting benchmarks demonstrate that RankFormer achieves competitive performance against state-of-the-art methods. Uncertainty-Guided Multimodal Consensus for Multimodal Sentiment Analysis

Guowei Zhong, Junjie Li, Huaiyu Zhu, Ruohong Huan, Yun Pan

Multimodal sentiment analysis (MSA) has made considerable progress in recent years. Existing MSA methods mainly learn shared multimodal representations or train unimodal predictors with a common multimodal label. However, assigning the shared label to every modality can obscure modality-specific sentiment, while direct fusion may overemphasize unreliable predictions when modalities disagree. To address these issues, we propose Uncertainty-Guided Multimodal Consensus (UMC), which first recovers continuous unimodal pseudo-labels and then forms a reliability-aware consensus across modalities. Our method consists of two key components: i) Continuous Prototype-Guided Label Recovery (CPLR), which combines heteroscedastic predictions with ordered sentiment prototypes and uses confidence and label conflict to refine continuous unimodal pseudo-labels, and ii) Reliability and Precision Consensus (RPC), which estimates sample-dependent modality reliability from predictive statistics and cross-modal disagreement and combines it with predictive precision through a closed-form consensus solver. Extensive experiments conducted on four publicly available MSA datasets demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of our proposed model.

A Deep Learning Framework for TTV Characterization: A Case Study of the Kepler-88 System

Chen Chen, Jiapeng Gao, Gongjie Li, Lingkai Kong, Molei Tao

Transit timing variation (TTV) provides rich information about the mass and orbital properties of exoplanets, which are often obtained by solving an inverse problem via Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC). In this paper, we design a new data-driven approach, which potentially can be applied to problems that are hard to traditional MCMC methods, such as the case with only one planet transiting. Specifically, we use a deep learning approach to predict the parameters of non-transit companion for the single transit system with transit information (i.e., TTV, and Transit Duration Variation (TDV)) as input. This approach is constructed using the Transformer-based architecture that can extract long-range interactions from TTV sequential data. We focus on two-planet systems based on Kepler-88 as a starting point, with the inner planet fixed to the properties of Kepler-88 and the mass and orbital elements of the outer planet varied. Applying to Kepler-88, we obtained an overall fractional error of $\lesssim$10\% on semi-major axis and eccentricity, and $\sim 10-30\%$ on planet mass (assuming that the stellar and transiting planet parameters are known), based on a training set of a million simulations. When applied to the test set, our model achieves low fractional errors of less than a few percent for systems with TTV semi-amplitudes ranging from $\sim 0.3$ s to $\sim 5$ min. Extending our approach to a broader range of planetary architectures, including systems with substantially weaker or stronger TTV signals and those containing additional planets or stellar companions, remains an important direction for future work.
