Concept-Grounded Reasoning with Prompt-Driven Localization for Interpretable Structured Report Generation

Xinyue Xu, Hongbin Lin, Juangui Xu, Hualiang Wang, Lehan Wang, Lijie Hu, Adrian Weller, Xiaomeng Li

Medical imaging modalities such as ultrasound and X-ray are widely used in clinical practice, where diagnosis follows a structured, evidence-driven workflow aligned with standardized criteria. While multimodal large language models (MLLMs) show promise for automated medical report generation, most existing systems rely on end-to-end multimodal fusion without modeling clinically defined intermediate attributes, leading to limited grounding and interpretability. To address this issue, we propose CORAL (COncept-grounded ReAsoning with Localization), a multimodal framework that integrates spatial grounding and concept-level supervision into a unified reasoning process. CORAL employs a prompt-driven medical segmentation model to localize lesions and predicts multi-class clinical attributes through a Concept Bottleneck module. The resulting textual concept tokens are combined with mask-modulated visual features within an MLLM to enable structured report generation and diagnostic prediction. Experiments on BUS-CoT and IU X-ray datasets demonstrate consistent improvements in diagnostic accuracy, concept consistency, and report quality over strong general-purpose and medical MLLMs, indicating that concept-grounded reasoning better aligns generation with clinical decision processes.

MatMoE: Matryoshka Mixture-of-Experts with Dynamic Mixed-Precision Quantization for Efficient Inference

Renjie Wei, Haochen Huang, Chuyu Qiu, Jinqi Wen, Dehao Xu, Meng Li

Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) architecture has been widely adopted in large language models (LLMs) since it reduces the computational cost through sparse expert activation. However, the massive parameter scale of MoE models hinders their deployment on resource-constrained edge devices. Although existing mixed-precision quantization reduces the model size, they are inherently static, fixing the bit-width of each expert across decoding steps. Such static schemes yield suboptimal performance as they overlook the dynamic variation in expert importance during decoding. Furthermore, they fail to adapt to the dynamic latency constraint driven by the fluctuating system utilization. To address these challenges, we propose MatMoE, a dynamic mixed-precision quantization framework for efficient MoE inference. MatMoE features: (1) a Matryoshka MoE PTQ algorithm that enables experts to operate flexibly at multiple precisions within a stringent memory budget; (2) a floor-and-compensation quantization method that eliminates redundant memory accesses in the Matryoshka representation; and (3) a dynamic bit-width allocation strategy that determines the precision for each expert based on their routing scores to satisfy the dynamic latency requirement. We implement our MatMoE system atop llama.cpp for both CPU and GPU platforms. Extensive evaluations across three modern MoE models and challenging benchmarks demonstrate that MatMoE achieves $4.0\% \sim 18.3\%$ higher accuracy than state-of-the-art static mixed-precision method. Compared to llama.cpp, MatMoE delivers $1.3\times \sim 3.7\times$ speedup on Raspberry Pi 5, and $1.2\times \sim 1.3\times$ speedup on NVIDIA RTX 4090 and Jetson AGX Orin.

EEG-Captioner: Grounding EEG-to-Language Generation in Fundamental Signal Properties

Leyuan Jin, Jiahao Mei, Yixuan Yuan, Shimeng Li, Mengyue Wu, Yue Ding

Electroencephalography (EEG)-to-language models offer a promising approach for translating complex neural signals into human-readable descriptions. However, generating plausible language does not necessarily demonstrate that a model has learned to interpret the underlying EEG signal. A direct way to assess such interpretation is to probe objectively measurable properties of the signal itself. We therefore construct an EEG-language dataset of 160,781 segments annotated with signal-level question answering (QA) pairs, where each question targets one of five property families and requires a quantitative comparison involving spectral, spatial, temporal, or lateral signal properties. Each segment is also paired with a feature-grounded EEG caption. We further propose a Dual-Domain EEG Encoder that jointly models temporal waveforms and spectral-spatial representations, and introduce EEG-Captioner, a unified EEG-to-language framework trained with both signal-level QA and EEG caption supervision. Experiments show that the proposed encoder achieves the highest overall macro-averaged balanced accuracy (Macro-BA) among the compared EEG encoders, while EEG-Captioner achieves a Macro-BA of 88.81% on signal-level QA and improves caption factual consistency from 82.06% to 83.46% over caption-only language adaptation, demonstrating the complementary benefits of signal-level QA and caption supervision. RoboGene: Diversity-Driven Agentic Task Generation Framework for VLA Pre-training

The pursuit of general-purpose robotic manipulation is hindered by the scarcity of diverse, real-world interaction data. Unlike large-scale web vision-language data, robotic data collection incurs prohibitive physical costs. The key challenge is thus not merely to collect more robot data, but to obtain informative training data that broadens behavioral coverage across objects, scenes, and skills. Yet automatically curating task proposals to maximize the utility of collected data remains under-explored. We introduce RoboGene, an agentic framework for generating diverse, informative manipulation tasks across single-arm, dual-arm, and mobile robots. RoboGene combines (1) diversity-driven sampling for broad task coverage, (2) agentic self-reflection for task-quality assessment, and (3) human-verified feedback memory for execution-grounded validation and continual refinement. Through quantitative analysis and large-scale real-world experiments, we collect 18k trajectories and introduce metrics for task feasibility and diversity. RoboGene significantly outperforms frontier foundation models, including GPT-4o and Gemini 2.5 Pro. VLA models trained on RoboGene-generated data achieve higher success rates and stronger generalization, highlighting the value of high-quality task generation.
