HP-PnP-Flow: Hybrid Time Scheduling and Projection for Plug-and-Play Image Restoration via Flow Matching

Yong Li, Xiaojie Wang, Xiaoyan Zhang

原文摘要

Image restoration is a fundamental inverse problem that seeks to recover high-quality images from degraded observations. Plug-and-Play (PnP) methods provide a flexible framework for integrating pretrained denoisers into iterative reconstruction, whereas flow matching offers an efficient generative modeling approach based on continuous-time ODE dynamics. Very recently, Martin et al.\ (ICLR, 2025) developed a PnP-Flow method, which integrates the PnP framework with flow matching through a time-dependent denoiser constructed from a pretrained flow matching model.By incorporating a different time schedule and an additional pixel-space projection operator, this paper proposes a novel efficient PnP-Flow algorithm (HP-PnP-Flow) that enjoys rigorous convergence guarantees under mild assumptions, without imposing restrictive conditions on iterates required by the aforementioned work. Numerical experiments on CelebA and AFHQ-Cat demonstrate that the newly proposed HP-PnP-Flow algorithm significantly outperforms PnP-Flow on several restoration tasks such as denoising, deblurring, super-resolution, random inpainting, and box inpainting. Notably, our algorithm achieves comparable or better reconstruction quality with substantially fewer iterations, reducing the iteration count from $500$ to $100$ for deblurring and super-resolution on AFHQ-Cat.

Canonical Color as a Lens into Concept Decodability in Vision Encoders and VLMs

Xiaofu Chen, Stella Frank, Yova Kementchedjhieva

原文摘要

Visual encoders construct a representation of the image input for Vision-Language models. How much conceptual, as opposed to immediately visible, information does this representation contain? We use canonical color as a controlled test case to ask whether vision encoders make canonical-color information linearly accessible, even when color is removed from the input image. We construct a dataset of objects with canonical colors, and probe vision encoders for both color and object identity using color and grayscale images. We find that canonical color remains decodable from grayscale images, and is tied to predicted object identity, indicating a conceptual link. Extending this analysis to full VLMs, we find that VLM post-training can have a surprisingly large effect on color decodability in the vision encoder. Overall, canonical color provides a usefully controllable lens for tracing object-level conceptual semantic information in vision encoders and VLMs.

CRISP: Fixing Flying Pixels in Latent LiDAR Generation via Diffusion Decoding

Andrea Ceron, Michael Schmidt, Alvaro Marcos-Ramiro, Sebastian Schmidt, Benjamin Busam

原文摘要

Latent LiDAR pipelines suffer from flying pixels: convolutional VAEs blur sharp radial depth discontinuities, yielding edge depths that back-project to points floating between surfaces. We identify this as a major, directly correctable decoder bottleneck and introduce CRISP: a pixel-space diffusion decoder with a backbone-agnostic latent adapter, DiT-based denoiser, and support mask predictor. CRISP replaces video-VAE and LiDAR-native decoders alike while keeping the encoder and latent generator fixed. Across KITTI-360, SemanticKITTI, and nuScenes, replacing only the decoder reduces FSVD/FPVD by 50.5% on average across frozen backbones; for generic video VAEs, the reductions reach 71%/74%. On the LiDAR-native LiDM backbone, FRID drops by 71%, with the largest gains at depth discontinuities. In a pretrained LiDM world model, the same zero-shot replacement improves FSVD by 15.5%, narrowing the sim-to-real gap. Code and checkpoints will be released at https://andrea25512.github.io/CRISP/.

VLALagBench: Understanding When and Why VLA Inference Latency Matters

原文摘要

Vision-language-action (VLA) models offer a promising path toward general-purpose robot manipulation. While inference latency can affect task success in a constantly evolving physical world, the relationship between latency and task success rate remains poorly understood. In this paper, we introduce VLALagBench, a comprehensive benchmark for studying VLA inference latency sensitivity across task types, object speeds, execution modes (synchronous and asynchronous), and VLA policies. Using VLALagBench, we find that even a modest inference latency of 100 ms can nearly halve task success on moving targets, with sensitivity varying substantially across tasks and policies. These differences reflect task-specific requirements for precision and continuous motion. By overlapping inference with action execution, asynchronous execution can recover some of the lost success at the cost of more frequent inference requests. Building on these findings, we develop an empirical model that predicts task success from limited calibration data, achieving root-mean-square prediction errors of only 5.7-7.8% across various VLA policies. Given an inference system's latency and per-robot throughput, these predictions guide the selection of system-specific VLA algorithm configurations to maximize task success. We believe VLALagBench and these findings provide a solid foundation for future robotics algorithm-system co-design.

Bukva: Russian Sign Language Alphabet

Petr Surovtsev, Alexander Nagaev, Karina Kvanchiani, Elizaveta Petrova, Alexander Kapitanov

原文摘要

This paper investigates the recognition of the Russian fingerspelling alphabet, also known as the Russian Sign Language (RSL) dactyl. Dactyl is a component of sign languages where distinct hand movements represent individual letters of a written language. This method is used to spell words without specific signs, such as proper nouns or technical terms. The alphabet learning simulator is an essential isolated dactyl recognition application. There is a notable issue of data shortage in isolated dactyl recognition: existing Russian dactyl datasets lack subject heterogeneity, contain insufficient samples, or cover only static signs. We provide Bukva, the first full-fledged open-source video dataset for RSL dactyl recognition. It contains 3,757 videos with more than 101 samples for each RSL alphabet sign, including dynamic ones. We utilized crowdsourcing platforms to increase the subject's heterogeneity, resulting in the participation of 155 deaf and hard-of-hearing experts in the dataset creation. We use a TSM (Temporal Shift Module) block to handle static and dynamic signs effectively, achieving 83.6% top-1 accuracy with a real-time inference with CPU only. The dataset, demo code, and pre-trained models are publicly available.

Diagonal Equivalence in State Space Models: Characterization, Retrieval Rank, and Selective Extensions

Dennis Rochau

原文摘要

We classify real and complex state-space models (SSMs) with linear transitions, distinguishing fixed-basis diagonal equivalence from input-output equivalence and tracking coefficient-conditioning windows under coordinate changes. We characterize diagonal equivalence through commuting transition families whose members are diagonalizable over the chosen field. With time-shared token-local matrix maps, we identify this class's state-mediated kernels with unnormalized scalar-mode linear attention with multiplicative masks. Mamba 3's multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO) construction lifts one value per local interface; SSD-MIMO routes independent values for local retrieval rank above one. HybridMamba combines Mamba 1's per-coordinate decay, Mamba 2-style heads and Mamba 3's complex rotations and two-endpoint writes, mixing real and rotating state blocks with different decay laws. They recover Mamba 1-3 single-input, single-output (SISO) configurations as exact special cases. On five large H100 bfloat16 workloads, our fused GPU kernels improve geometric-mean training time over official Mamba 1/3 in matched SISO recoveries, with Mamba 2 near parity at SSM-core scope. Memory tradeoffs depend on the baseline and metric: saved-for-backward versus peak allocation. In small-model multi-token recall experiments, both designs outperform Mamba 1-3 on the hardest tier; higher routing ranks perform best in gated or phase-diverse configurations. In single-seed language models with about 500M parameters, both improve on Mamba 1/2 in test loss at 2B tokens, but the routing gains do not translate into lower language-model loss. Our best configurations approach Mamba 3 SISO through 10B tokens while remaining behind it and Mamba 3 MIMO in language-model loss.

LUCA: A Synthetic World for Experimental Reasoning

Anna Gogleva, Thomas Charman, Martin Balla, Karl Gemayel

原文摘要

An experimental agent can succeed for the wrong reasons. Evaluations, however, often focus on the outcome, not the experiments, evidence, and inferences that produced it. We introduce LUCA, a configurable synthetic world for evaluating this process under fully known ground truth. Agents learn unknown regulatory systems through budgeted experimentation, then predict unseen interventions, diagnose hidden faults, and attempt rescues. This setup allows us to evaluate experiment selection, prediction, diagnosis, and intervention separately. Across seven frontier LLMs and three baselines, these capabilities dissociate sharply. Agents frequently rescue malfunctioning systems while diagnosing the wrong fault; diagnosis varies 7x across models while prediction varies only 1.4x. Models also adopt surprisingly different experimental strategies, and greater exploration does not reliably yield better performance. In one failure mode, agents often perform the experiment needed to distinguish competing causes, but still fail to use the resulting evidence. LUCA turns these hidden failures into measurable behaviours, providing a controlled environment to study where experimental agents succeed and fail. Code: https://github.com/RelationRx/luca.

Sanity Checks for Sparse Autoencoders: Do SAEs Beat Random Baselines?

Anton Korznikov, Andrey Galichin, Alexey Dontsov, Oleg Rogov, Ivan Oseledets, Elena Tutubalina

原文摘要

Sparse Autoencoders (SAEs) have emerged as a promising tool for interpreting neural networks by decomposing their activations into sparse sets of human-interpretable features. Recent work has introduced multiple SAE variants and successfully scaled them to frontier models. Despite much excitement, a growing number of negative results in downstream tasks casts doubt on whether SAEs recover meaningful features. To directly investigate this, we perform two complementary evaluations. On a synthetic setup with known ground-truth features, we demonstrate that SAEs recover only $9\%$ of true features despite achieving $71\%$ explained variance, showing that they fail at their core task even when reconstruction is strong. To evaluate SAEs on real activations, we introduce three baselines that constrain SAE feature directions or their activation patterns to random values. Through extensive experiments across multiple SAE architectures, we show that our baselines match fully-trained SAEs in interpretability (0.87 vs 0.90), sparse probing (0.69 vs 0.72), and causal editing (0.73 vs 0.72). Together, these results suggest that SAEs in their current state do not reliably decompose models' internal mechanisms.

ReVar3R: Gauge-Aware Perturbation Uncertainty for Feed-Forward 3D Reconstruction

Sammam Mahdi, Fariha Binta Salim, Rakin Bin Rabbani, Aniqua Nusrat Zereen

原文摘要

A correctly reconstructed distant point appears uncertain even when a frozen 3D model processes equivalent inputs because its output frame rotates fractionally. This exposes a weakness of trainingfree perturbation uncertainty: when outputs contain an unobserved symmetry, run-to-run variation potentially reflects symmetry rather than error. Existing alternatives have trade-offs: built-in confidence is outperformed in most evaluated conditions, while trained evidential heads require modelspecific supervision. For point maps, this research derives a closed-form, error-independent variance term that grows with scene extent and potentially overwhelms the desired signal. Simulation reproduces the effect; all 30 real VGGT view-sets tested exhibit its predicted $\|x_p\|^2$ signature. ReVar3R robustly registers predictions to a common similarity frame before computing per-point variance, without retraining or modifying the frozen model. Optional calibration and fusion use a held-out split. Across VGGT, π3, and MASt3R on six datasets, the same estimator on every backbone lowers AUSE below built-in confidence in 15 of 18 conditions. The staged evaluation yields 11 of 18 wins for the label-free core, 12/18 for label-free equal-weight fusion, 14/18 with held-out weights, and 15/18 when the built-in signal is included. Against a trained evidential head, the result is a trade-off: the head calibrates magnitude better and leads in its training domain, whereas ReVar3R transfers across backbones without adaptation. Its ranking improves point filtering, but it does not detect stable systematic bias, aid novel-view synthesis, or transfer calibration across domains.

Ray-SCR: Generalizing Scene Coordinate Regression Across Camera Models

Jaemin Cho, Oleksii Nasypanyi, Francois Rameau

原文摘要

Among visual localization strategies, scene coordinate regression (SCR) has emerged as an attractive approach for its compactness, accuracy, and speed. Despite these advantages, SCR models generalize poorly across substantially different camera models, such as omnidirectional or strongly rectified imagery. This limitation arises because, changes in field of view, lens distortion, or rectification-induced resampling can make the same scene content appear differently depending on its pixel position, degrading localization accuracy. To cope with this limitation, we introduce Ray-SCR, a lightweight extension to existing SCR architectures that conditions local visual features on their calibrated viewing rays and refines neighboring ray-conditioned features with a shallow local Transformer. We further formulate supervision directly in ray space and use sparse SfM points as metric anchors that link observations across views and camera models. Taken together, these components enable a single scene representation built from a panoramic mapping sequence to accurately localize query images captured with very different cameras, including pinhole, fisheye, and omnidirectional cameras. We evaluate Ray-SCR across multiple SCR architectures and on datasets with pinhole, fisheye, and omnidirectional cameras. The proposed ray conditioning substantially improves generalization across cameras and leads to state-of-the-art localization performance in these challenging cross-camera settings. SpectralTF-MAE: A Pre-trained Spectral Foundation Model for Tokamak Fusion Plasma Diagnostics

原文摘要

Spectroscopic diagnostics provide rich information for characterizing plasma states in tokamak fusion experiments, while existing learning-based approaches are often designed for individual tasks and rely heavily on labeled data. In this work, we propose SpectralTF-MAE, a self-supervised spectral foundation model for tokamak plasma diagnostics. The model is pretrained on paired charge-exchange recombination spectroscopy (CXRS) and X-ray crystal spectroscopy (XCS) measurements through masked spectral reconstruction. To better capture diagnostically important spectral structures, we introduce a peak-aware masking strategy together with a peak-enhanced reconstruction objective, encouraging the model to focus on characteristic spectral regions. A shared Transformer encoder is employed to learn transferable representations across different diagnostic modalities. The pretrained model is further adapted to several downstream tasks, including plasma-parameter prediction, cross-diagnostic spectral generation, and spectral peak analysis. Experiments on EAST diagnostic data demonstrate that the proposed framework achieves competitive performance across different tasks and consistently benefits from self-supervised spectral pretraining. These results indicate the potential of SpectralTF-MAE as a general and transferable representation learning framework for plasma spectroscopic diagnostics. The source code and pre-trained models will be released on https://github.com/Event-AHU/OpenFusion/tree/main/SpectralTF-MAE.

DR Pixel: Page-Native Deep Research with Vision-Language Models

原文摘要

Complex documents such as scientific papers contain rich information in tables, figures, and equations; however, existing deep research (DR) agents typically reduce papers to OCR-extracted text. We instead ask whether vision-language models (VLMs) can enable page-native deep research: directly retrieving and reasoning over rendered document page images. We introduce DR Pixel, the first open-source end-to-end multimodal DR agent that uses rendered page images as its sole retrieval and reasoning unit, operating over a corpus of 1.06M pages. To evaluate this setting, we construct DRPixelBench, a benchmark on scientific papers requiring reasoning over text, figures, tables, and equations. Surprisingly, page-native DR already works well without training, outperforming OCR-based baselines across state-of-the-art models like GPT-5.4, Gemini-3.5-Flash, and Qwen3.6-27B, while requiring fewer tool calls. We next turn to DR training. A key challenge is that teacher trajectories for agentic supervised finetuning are noisy, mixing critical reasoning and action steps with redundant or failed attempts. To address this, we introduce counterfactual credit reweighting, a fine-grained credit assignment method that weights individual reasoning and action steps by their counterfactual contribution to the final answer. Our training improves retrieval recall by about 15 points and final accuracy by over 10 points on DRPixelBench, and likewise outperforms the untrained baseline on four existing benchmarks. On out-of-distribution ViDoRe-V3, DR Pixel comes within 1.8 points of an oracle that is given the gold pages directly. Our results suggest that the conventional OCR-then-retrieve pipeline is not only unnecessary but suboptimal: directly retrieving and reasoning over visual document pages makes complex DR both more effective and more efficient.

Non-simple Arrangements of Lines and Pseudolines with Many Triangles

Roman Parpalak, Denis Utkin

原文摘要

We study affine arrangements of an even number $n$ of lines and pseudolines with many triangles. For simple ones, Blanc's bound limits the number of triangular faces to $\lfloor n(n-5/2)/3\rfloor$. Adapting the Bartholdi-Blanc-Loisel doubling to the even case, we construct an infinite series of arrangements of $n=6\cdot2^t+2$ ($8,14,26,50,\ldots$) straight lines with two triple points and $(n(n-5/2)+1)/3$ triangles, one more than the simple bound allows. We obtain exhaustive enumerations of triangle-maximal pseudoline arrangements, simple or not, for even $n\le12$. For $n=6,8,10,12,14$ the maximum number of triangles, for both lines and pseudolines, is $7,15,25,38,54$; for $n=8,12,14$ every optimal arrangement has multiple points. All optimal arrangements for even $n\le12$ are realizable by straight lines, except two arrangements of 10 pseudolines, which are not stretchable. For the odd value $n=11$, no arrangement with $33$ triangles exists even with multiple points. We also obtain even arrangements by adding a line to odd ones. For $n\equiv2\pmod 6$ this again gives one triangle more than the simple bound, in pseudolines up to $n=44$ and in straight lines for $n=20$ and $n=32$. Doubling these pseudoline arrangements gives members of the series $18\cdot2^t+2$ and $30\cdot2^t+2$ with the same excess, up to $n=146$ and $n=242$, respectively; those with $n=38$ and $n=74$ are realizable by straight lines. These results lead us to conjecture that an arrangement of an even number $n$ of pseudolines has at most $\lfloor n(n-2)/3\rfloor-\lfloor n/6\rfloor$ triangles.

A Fine-Grained Hierarchy and Benchmark for State Tracking in Language Models

Jackson Petty, William Merrill, Ashish Sabharwal

原文摘要

Theoretical limitations of transformers on state tracking---the ability to track information about entities or variables over long contexts---have motivated new recurrent language modeling (LM) architectures such as Gated DeltaNet (GDN). These architectures have, in particular, been benchmarked against the $S_5$ word problem, a theoretically hard state-tracking task that captures abilities such as code evaluation under arbitrary variable assignment. It, however, remains open whether other, simpler forms of state tracking might both be more relevant in practice and already explain observed differences between these architectures. We propose evaluating state tracking using a hierarchy of word problems with four increasing levels of difficulty: r-trivial, corresponding to immutable assignment to variables in programming; aperiodic, where assignments are mutable; soluble, where assignments are self-referential; and general finite state tracking. Theoretically, we show that the class of problems transformers are thought to length-generalize on does not even contain all aperiodic state tracking. On the other hand, we prove that GDN with positive eigenvalues expresses all aperiodic problems, and the regular languages recognized by certain transformers are precisely all soluble ones, thus providing a fine-grained picture of state tracking capabilities of various architectures. Taking these ideas to practice, we construct StateBench, a 4-tier long-horizon state-tracking benchmark. Our systematic direct training experiments across architectures largely align with theoretical expectation, albeit with interesting observations at very large scale length-generalization. Additionally, we also evaluate pretrained models---both open hybrid and closed frontier ones---on StateBench, finding that none of them robustly solves even soluble state tracking, suggesting a direction for future improvement.

An Experimental Study of Hybrid Retrieval, NLI and Open-source LLMs for Scientific Claim Verification

Lakshmi Narayanan P, Narenkarthik K, Naren Kumar C

原文摘要

Claim verification is the task of deciding whether a source text supports a claim, contradicts it, or lacks sufficient evidence. Natural Language Inference (NLI) models can judge whether a single sentence supports or contradicts a claim, but they struggle when the evidence is spread across several sentences. Conversely, Large Language Models (LLMs) can reason across sentences, but may draw conclusions the text does not support. In this experimental study, we test whether a conservative fusion rule, labeling a claim Support or Contradict only when both models agree and defaulting to Not Enough Evidence otherwise, combines their strengths. We construct a benchmark of 2,035 claims from SciFact and CliniFact (858 Support, 152 Contradict, 1,025 Not Enough Evidence). We retrieve the top five most relevant sentences per claim using a hybrid of semantic and lexical (BM25) retrieval, which slightly outperforms either method alone. These retrieved sentences are then provided to every verification model. We then compare a DeBERTa-v3-base-mnli-fever-anli NLI baseline against Llama 3.1 8B, Qwen3 8B, and Mistral 7B. Qwen3 achieves the highest Macro-F1 (0.7937), followed by Llama 3.1 (0.7204) and Mistral (0.6388), while the NLI baseline reaches only 0.3157. Contrary to our hypothesis, fusion degrades performance, dropping Macro-F1 to 0.7392, 0.6730, and 0.5991, respectively. To understand this decline, we analyze agreements, disagreements, and common error patterns between the NLI and LLM verifiers. Our error analysis shows that NLI and LLM disagreements often result in correct LLM predictions being overturned.

Avatar Intelligence: Amplifying Human Agency Through Persistent Personal Agents

Zheng Wu, Xinbei Ma, Yao Yao, Zhaoyuan Huang, Haowen Hu, Yijie Lu, Taolei Wang, Yifei Yang 等 11 位作者

原文摘要

Personal AI agents are increasingly capable of handling long-horizon tasks across applications, yet users often need to invest substantial effort in specifying goals, resolving ambiguity, and verifying outcomes. We argue that progress should be measured by how effectively agents amplify human agency: enabling people to pursue their goals with less routine supervision while retaining control over consequential decisions. We advocate Avatar Intelligence, a paradigm of persistent personal agents that represent users' goals, values, and constraints through sustained decision delegation across contexts and time. We describe a maturity roadmap from human-directed execution to autonomous operation within delegated domains, and introduce the Agentic Oversight Index (AOI) as a framework for evaluating delivered value against agent-side operational cost and human oversight burden. We identify three core research challenges: identity-continuous personalization that carries user preferences across tasks, user-situated evolution through Rehearsal Engineering, and safety mechanisms that combine technical control with accountability and recourse. These directions define a research agenda for reliable decision delegation to personal agents across tasks and over time.

KlaskTron-IL: A Contact-Rich Adversarial Imitation Learning Benchmark with a Validated Sim-to-Real Bridge

Nicklas Sohm, Aswin Ramachandran, Raffaello D'Andrea

原文摘要

KlaskTron is an open-hardware physical platform for two-player adversarial reinforcement learning, with a learned actuator model that supports zero-shot sim-to-real transfer of trained policies. Building on this platform, we contribute KlaskTron-IL: a multi-tier imitation learning dataset (80k human demonstration timesteps collected directly on the physical robot, 320k symmetry-augmented timesteps, and synthetic expert trajectories up to 5M steps generated by the zero-shot-validated PPO policy), and diagnostic baselines that expose three characteristic failure modes of standard IL methods under contact-rich adversarial dynamics: BC's data scaling plateau, GAIL's interpretable but weak-gradient discriminator (Spearman $ρ= -1.0$ peg-ball proximity recovery, but a logit span under 0.1), and an asymmetric BC-prior x reward-density interaction. Because the policy interface used throughout this paper is the same one the actuator model bridges to hardware, a policy trained on this benchmark can run unchanged on the physical robot, as we demonstrate zero-shot for the strongest BC baseline, so long as its commands respect the actuator model's $\pm 0.2$ m/s identification range.

Optimal Configurations for Mordell's Problem

Xiang Ji, Tiancheng Xu, Wensheng Yu

原文摘要

Mordell's problem asks for the largest product of squared pairwise distances among $n$ points in the complex plane with a prescribed sum of squared distances from the origin. When this sum equals $n$, the maximum for $2\le n\le5$ is known to be $n^n$, attained precisely by the $n$th roots of unity up to rotation and relabeling. For $n\ge6$, Chalk showed that a regular polygon together with its center gives a larger product than the regular $n$-gon. We prove that for $6\le n\le9$ the maximum is $(n-1)^{n-1}r_n^{n(n-1)}$, where $r_n=\sqrt{n/(n-1)}$. Up to the same symmetries, the unique maximizer consists of the origin and the vertices of a regular $(n-1)$-gon of radius $r_n$. For six points, algebraic elimination reduces the proof to an exact comparison of stationary values. For seven points, we compare all twelve classes in a published classification of equilibria. For eight and nine points, rigorous interval arithmetic establishes an inequality for every admissible pair. Summing over pairs gives the sharp global bound, and the equality conditions determine the configuration. An explicit ten-point comparison and a known instability result together exclude Chalk's configuration for every $n\ge10$. For each $n$ from two through eight, Mordell's problem and the minimum-diameter problem studied by Bateman and Erdős have a common optimal configuration.

MIRA: Reinforcing Multimodal Reasoning via Deceptive Contextual Augmentation

Zhihan Yin, Jianxin Liang, Yifeng Yao, Nonghai Zhang, and Bingyue Peng, Chunguang Qie, Huishuai Zhang, Dongyan Zhao

原文摘要

While Reinforcement Learning with Verifiable Rewards (RLVR) has significantly advanced multimodal reasoning, existing frameworks suffer from a critical "perception-reasoning gap." Due to an over-reliance on seemingly relevant visual tokens, even minor perceptual perturbations can propagate through the reasoning process, leading to compounding hallucinations. To address this issue, we propose MIRA, a training framework that improves robustness to erroneous visual contexts while enhancing logical reasoning ability. By injecting filtered, deceptive visual contexts during training, we construct challenging "hard traps" that stress-test the model's robustness to misleading information. Furthermore, we introduce a group-wise reflection-triggering mechanism that enables the model to autonomously detect and rectify inconsistencies between visual cues and logical constraints, which is ultimately internalized as an intrinsic policy behavior. Importantly, MIRA does not rely on human annotations. Experimental results across multiple reasoning and perception benchmarks show that MIRA yields an average 7% improvement on in-domain benchmarks, with consistent improvements on vision-centric benchmarks. These findings highlight that active error recovery is essential for robust multimodal reasoning. Comprehensive ablation studies and analyses further provide insights into why MIRA is effective.

PsyInterviewee: Informational Invariance and Relational Adaptivity in Mental Health Interview Simulation

Jiawei Zhang, Huachuan Qiu, Ruocheng Guo, Zijun Shi

原文摘要

LLM-based simulated interviewees support interviewer training and the evaluation of mental health interviewing systems. Existing studies have primarily focused on improving human-likeness through richer patient profiles and behavioral modeling. However, human-likeness alone does not establish their reliability. Reliable simulation requires preserving profile-grounded clinical facts (informational invariance) while adapting disclosure and interaction behavior to the interview (relational adaptivity). To this end, we introduce PsyInterviewee, which separates a protected truth channel from a dynamic interaction channel and verifies generated clinical claims against the profile. Specifically, asymmetric write permissions allow dialogue context to update disclosure and behavioral states without authorizing new clinical facts; these states guide what profile-supported information is revealed and how it is expressed. In an automated evaluation of interactions between LLM-based interviewers and interviewees, PsyInterviewee achieves higher scores than four representative baselines on most metrics across both axes, as assessed by two LLM judges. Ablations suggest that the two channels contribute to clinical grounding and response modulation, respectively.

VL-Dedup: Graded Multimodal Entity Resolution for Image-Text Data Deduplication

Zhenxi Liu, Guanze Chen, Dehui Yu, Xingyu Wang, Bingxu Hou, Chengwei Li, Tao Ma, Ke Wang 等 9 位作者

原文摘要

Image-text corpora contain copies of one image, captions that describe one image in different ways, captions reused for different images, and captions that do not match their images. Each case calls for a different curation action. Deduplication and multimodal entity resolution (ER) only decide whether records are the same, and they are evaluated on labeled pairs. Yet pair scores do not tell which records end up in the same cluster or which useful captions get deleted. We therefore formulate image-text deduplication as graded multimodal ER, which decides visual identity, caption handling, and mismatches for each pair, and we evaluate it at three levels: pairs, clusters, and the retained set. Our method, VL-Dedup, groups records of the same visual entity into clusters and caps the size of each cluster. Within each cluster, a vision-language model (VLM) and CLIPScore decide which captions to keep and which to flag. We also build VL-DedupBench, with 50,000 COCO and SOP records and 66,788 labeled pairs. On it, a classifier that selects no false edge among the labeled pairs still joins millions of record pairs from different entities. Spending VLM calls on the pairs inside clusters, rather than on pairs with uncertain scores, gives better caption decisions from the same model. Even when almost all clusters are correct, keeping one record per cluster loses facts in many deletions, while the deletions of VL-Dedup lose much less information.

JevBreak: Your Model, Their Decision

Nitin Aravind Birur, Divyanshu Kumar, Sahil Agarwal, Prashanth Harshangi

原文摘要

Restricting what a model can say is often mistaken for restricting an attacker's influence over its decision. An attacker can add text to the evidence and steer the model toward a wrong answer that still belongs to the allowed set. We evaluate seven decision models spanning hosted APIs, open-weight models and an encoder on 16 tasks in seven domains from Decision Bench, targeting every wrong option across 240 text examples (990 targets per model). We present Slot Attack, a black-box attack designed for decision models that appends text assembled from named components to steer predictions toward an attacker-selected incorrect option. The method relies solely on returned label probabilities, achieves success rates of 32--99\% on initially correct decisions, and identifies the effective component combinations with a median of 17--72 queries per successful attack. Accuracy and confidence do not reliably reveal this vulnerability. Models with near-identical accuracy on the sampled tasks differ by about 20\%age points in attack success. We demonstrate that an attacker can force not just one wrong answer but every available one: on about 20\% of correct decisions for the JEV models, 77\% for gpt-6-luna and 98\% for GLiNER2.5; a confidence threshold does not reliably screen the attack out. A fixed answer set constrains a decision's form, not its source; robustness must be measured per model, per task and per version rather than assumed from output format.

Cross-Layer Refinement and Frequency-aware Fusion Network for Multi-Source Remote Sensing Image Classification

Wenhan Xiao, Chuanzheng Gong, Feng Gao, Junyu Dong, Qian Du

原文摘要

Multi-source remote sensing image classification benefits from complementary spectral and structural information. However, identifying discriminative cross-modal features remains challenging. This letter proposes a Cross-Layer Refinement and Frequency-aware Fusion Network (CRFNet) within a lightweight dual-branch architecture. Specifically, a Cross-Layer Refinement Attention (CLRA) module propagates selected attention relationships across successive layers and employs top relation selection to progressively strengthen discriminative spatial dependencies while suppressing irrelevant responses. Furthermore, a Frequency-aware Complementary Fusion (FCF) module combines frequency-wise interactions with cross-modal channel attention in the Fourier domain. The resulting representations are then converted into spatial-domain gates to selectively modulate complementary features. Experiments on the Houston 2013 and Augsburg datasets demonstrate that the proposed CRFNet consistently outperforms several state-of-the-art methods. Ananas: A Networked Audio System for Distributed Spatial Audio Applications

Thomas Rushton, Romain Michon, Tanguy Risset

原文摘要

Spatial audio has an accessibility problem. Largescale spatial and immersive audio installations remain costly and exclusive, with high barriers to entry. We propose ''Ananas,'' a networked audio system consisting of network protocols, control software and microcontroller firmware, with the aim of rendering spatial audio applications accessible to a broad cohort of potential users. Based on a network of low-cost microcontroller development boards programmed in the Faust programming language, synchronised to nanosecond order via IEEE 1588 Precision Time Protocol, and controlled by approachable, digital audio workstation-based tooling, Ananas represents an opportunity to disrupt and democratise the spatial audio landscape. In this paper we demonstrate Ananas's protocols for audio and control data transmission and device discovery, its methods for media clock and presentation time recovery, and its applications to wave field synthesis and higher order ambisonics in a modular, scalable form.

Authenticity Debt and the Synthetic Content Threat Landscape: A Layered Framework for Trust, Provenance, and IP Governance in the Generative AI Era

Shubhashis Sengupta, Benjamin McCarty, Milind Savagaonkar, Rhine Andotra

原文摘要

Generative artificial intelligence has fundamentally changed how content is now produced. It has enabled how high-fidelity text, images, audio, and videos are created, modified, and redistributed at near-zero marginal cost. This shift exposes enterprises and ecosystems to a number of risks across four reinforcing authenticity layers -- authenticity, provenance, integrity, and accountability -- that traditional controls are inadequate to address in isolation. We introduce the concept of authenticity debt: the cumulative institutional liability that accumulates when organizations deploy AI-generated content without preserving verifiable origin, integrity, and accountability, deferring exposure that surfaces under regulatory, legal, or market scrutiny. This paper presents a comprehensive, multi-dimensional taxonomy of generative AI harms and attack vectors, surveys the capabilities and failure modes of technical controls including digital watermarking, provenance frameworks (C2PA, Adobe CAI), and detection technologies, and argues that no single mechanism is sufficient in open, adversarial, and evolving environments. Drawing on Zero Trust Architecture principles and enterprise governance frameworks, we propose a layered reference architecture that integrates cryptographic provenance, human-in-the-loop verification, and continuous governance to sustain defensible authenticity at scale. We further examine the regulatory landscape (EU AI Act, U.S.\ FTC, NIST AI RMF) and identify practical guiding principles for organizations seeking to build authenticity as institutional infrastructure rather than an afterthought.

The Price of Intelligence: A Quality-Adjusted Price Index for AI Services

Louis Yiven Zhu

原文摘要

How fast AI inference prices have fallen depends on how an index holds quality constant. We build quality-adjusted price indices for text and code inference sold through APIs, joining 21,024 posted prices to a capability scale fitted to 4,605 benchmark scores. From January 2025 to July 2026, matched-model methods record an annual fall of 0.07 in log price per token. Our pre-specified hedonic index falls at 0.51 a year in logs (95% interval 0.11 to 0.89), entirely through the rising capability of the models on sale. Across three treatments of measurement error and two anchor sets it runs from 0.34 to 0.89. Excluding six anchors flagged for possible contamination leaves model rankings intact (rank correlation 0.998) yet lowers the rate by 0.40 to 0.51 under two treatments. Agreement on rankings therefore does not license claims about levels or increments. Per completed task, the data do not establish a quality-adjusted decline.

WebWeaver: Breaking Topology Confidentiality in LLM Multi-Agent Systems with Stealthy Context-Based Inference

Zixun Xiong, Gaoyi Wu, Lingfeng Yao, Miao Pan, Xiaojiang Du, Hao Wang

原文摘要

Communication topology is a critical factor in the utility and safety of LLM-based multi-agent systems (LLM-MAS), making it a high-value intellectual property (IP) whose confidentiality remains insufficiently studied. Existing topology inference attempts rely on impractical assumptions, including control over the administrative agent and direct identity queries via jailbreaks, which are easily defeated by basic keyword-based defenses. As a result, prior analyses fail to capture the real-world threat of such attacks. To bridge this realism gap, we propose \textit{WebWeaver}, an attack framework that infers the complete LLM-MAS topology by compromising only a single arbitrary agent instead of the administrative agent. Unlike prior approaches, WebWeaver relies solely on agent contexts rather than agent IDs, enabling significantly stealthier inference. WebWeaver further introduces a new covert jailbreak-based mechanism and a novel fully jailbreak-free diffusion design to handle cases where jailbreaks fail. Additionally, we address a key challenge in diffusion-based inference by proposing a masking strategy that preserves known topology during diffusion, with theoretical guarantees of correctness. Extensive experiments show that WebWeaver substantially outperforms state-of-the-art (SOTA) baselines, achieving about 60\% higher inference accuracy under active defenses with negligible overhead.

One Polynomial Field for Every Euler Step and the Flow: Polynomial Dynamics for P and PSPACE

Olivier Bournez

原文摘要

We construct, for each deterministic Turing machine that halts on all inputs, one polynomial vector field with rational coefficients that performs the same logical computation at unit Euler step, at every smaller or variable step in $(0,1]$ with divergent sum, and along the flow. This unifies discrete-time and continuous-time computation by polynomial dynamics, which earlier characterizations treated separately. For a machine making $T$ transitions in space $H$, a logical scale $h=2^{-s}$ with $s=O(H)$ suffices, with physical time $O(s(T+s))$, drift disturbances up to $h^{2K}$ for a fixed exponent $K$, and $2Ks+3$ fractional bits at unit step. On a fixed compact domain, polynomial time and robust eventual decision characterize P and PSPACE, respectively, with polynomial scale thresholds and no supplied stabilization horizon in the space case. Without sign, floor or conditional primitives, margin amplification at bounded speed, overlapping polynomial gates and interval-product estimates give the common realization, from which we derive shared logical traces, fixed-field PSPACE-complete prediction and a robust safety family with polynomial certificates common to all Euler steps and the flow.

Solving Stochastic Inverse Problems in Embedding Space

Elias Najarro, Nicolas Bessone, Sebastian Risi

原文摘要

Solving an inverse problem consists in finding the unknown parameters of a system from observations. This task is particularly challenging when observations have a strong stochastic component, producing diverse yet equivalent patterns. Self-organizing systems are a notable case: simple local rules can generate complex stochastic patterns. Many natural systems rely on such processes, making self-organization central to understanding natural phenomena. Inverse methods based on direct comparison of observed values struggle in this setting, as such comparisons cannot capture feature similarities between variable outcomes; as a result, the loss fails to meaningfully inform the optimizer. In this work, we show that the difficulty posed by stochasticity in observable patterns can be overcome by reformulating the inverse problem in an embedding space. By mapping stochastic patterns onto an invariant embedding space, where equivalent patterns have similar representations, we can effectively recover unknown causal parameters without the need for handcrafted objective functions or heuristics. We show that embedding models trained on large image datasets produce robust representations that capture these invariances. We evaluate the method on three self-organizing systems: a physical, a biological, and a social one; namely, a reaction-diffusion system, a model of embryonic development, and an agent-based model of social segregation. We show that the method reliably recovers parameters despite stochasticity in the pattern outcomes. We further apply the method to real biological patterns, highlighting its potential as a tool for both theorists and experimentalists to investigate the dynamics underlying complex stochastic pattern formation.

Shared-Pattern Collaborative Network for Multi-Source Remote Sensing Data Classification

Chenfang Yang, Chuanzheng Gong, Feng Gao, Junyu Dong, Qian Du

原文摘要

Multi-source remote sensing data classification has received growing attention recently. However, existing methods still struggle to jointly model long-range contextual dependencies and shared spatial patterns across heterogeneous modalities. To address this issue, we propose a Shared-Pattern Collaborative Network (SPCNet) for HSI and SAR/LiDAR joint classification. To enhance cross-modal collaborative learning, Shared-Pattern Collaborative Block (SPCB) is designed by introducing a shared large-kernel operator and a dynamic convolution branch, enabling the network to capture common spatial structures and content-adaptive local features. Furthermore, Region-Adaptive Modality Allocator (RAMA) is developed to assign spatially varying modality weights for reliable feature fusion. Experiments on Houston2013, Augsburg, and Houston2018 datasets demonstrate that SPCNet achieves superior classification performance over several state-of-the-art methods. The code will be made publicly available at https://github.com/oucailab/SPCNet
