ReferClaw: Disambiguating User Intent for Egocentric Assistance

Hangyu Qin, Junbin Xiao, Angela Yao

Users of egocentric AI assistants often ask short, ambiguous questions whose intended referents cannot be uniquely resolved from video and dialogue history. For example, "Where did I leave it?" may refer to several previously handled objects. Existing VideoQA systems typically commit to a single interpretation, risking plausible but intention-misaligned answers. We introduce ReferClaw, an agentic framework that formulates egocentric streaming QA as an interactive process: the assistant asks clarifying questions to resolve user intent before answering. Three cooperating agents identify candidate interpretations, request clarification, and generate answers grounded in the resolved intent and visual evidence. A bounded, cost-aware policy balances expected information gain against user effort while limiting clarification turns and question complexity. Referclaw learns from interaction through intent-specific skill updates and process-reward-guided policy optimization with agent-level credit assignment. Evaluations on augmented egocentric QA benchmarks demonstrate improved answer accuracy and joint answer-and-grounding performance over existing baselines, alongside zero-shot transfer across datasets. These findings support interactive clarification as a practical approach to resolving online user intent in egocentric streaming assistance.

CoDiMAD: Diffusion-Based Privileged Distillation for Communication-Free Multi-Robot Coordination

Jiyue Tao, Shunheng Xin, Tongsheng Shen, Dexin Zhao, Feitian Zhang

Decentralized multi-robot coordination under partial observability remains challenging, especially when agents act solely on local sensing without communication. Privileged policy distillation provides a promising approach by transferring knowledge from a globally informed oracle to sensor-constrained students. However, in multi-agent systems, the same local observation may correspond to multiple global configurations requiring qualitatively different cooperative actions, making the conditional action distribution inherently multi-modal. Standard deterministic distillation collapses these modes to their mean, often yielding invalid or hesitant actions. To address this issue, we propose CoDiMAD, a three-stage framework that trains a privileged oracle with MAPPO, constructs an offline dataset of local-observation-oracle-action pairs, and distills the oracle into decentralized students parameterized as conditional denoising diffusion probabilistic models. By approximating the conditional oracle-action distribution through the diffusion reverse process, CoDiMAD samples decisive actions from coherent coordination modes rather than averaging across them. Theoretical analysis characterizes the mode-averaging failure of deterministic distillation and the distributional recovery property of diffusion-based distillation. Experiments on three cooperative tasks show that CoDiMAD consistently outperforms direct local MARL and deterministic distillation baselines. The source code will be made publicly available upon acceptance.

DEQ-Det: Dual Evidence Queries for Few-Shot Analog IC Device Detection

Zidong Zhao, Rong Huang, Chengxing Fan, Jie Hu, Malik Haris, Ghazal A. Fahmy, Morteza Mousazadeh, Guoqiang Zhang

Detecting analog integrated circuit (IC) devices in layout images supports circuit analysis and inspection. With only a few annotated examples, variation in device geometry and visual similarity to dummy or routing structures make reliable detection difficult. Foreground similarity alone can highlight plausible targets without distinguishing them from competing layout patterns. We propose Dual Evidence Queries for Detection (DEQ-Det), which constructs complementary foreground and background references from the same support images without additional annotations. Foreground references capture target morphology, while selected background references characterize surrounding layout patterns. Both sources guide query selection and region verification, combining target appearance with layout context. Across five held-out device categories and three random seeds, DEQ-Det achieves macro AP50 of 39.41 and 53.03 at 10 and 30 shots, exceeding the strongest listed baselines by 3.97 and 9.71 points, respectively. A matched 30-shot ablation further shows that RoI background evidence reduces pooled false positives at comparable recall, supporting its role in interference suppression.

PhySA: Decoupling Aesthetic and Physical Rewards for Humanoid Locomotion

Yunwan Fu, Sicheng He, Jiageng Mao, Yue Wang

Humanoid locomotion policies trained without an explicit smoothness objective tend to produce jerky, high-energy gaits that stress actuators. Vision-language models (VLMs) offer an appealing reward source: given a rendered rollout, a VLM returns an aesthetic quality score on [0,10] without task-specific feature engineering. We find, however, that aesthetic preference and physical smoothness point in opposite directions: across four production VLMs, clips with higher joint acceleration receive higher aesthetic scores (mean Pearson r=+0.66). We study PhySA (Physical Smoothness and Aesthetics), which keeps the two on separate, independently removable reward channels: a sparse, asynchronous VLM score and a phase-triggered correction channel that adjusts physical penalty weights from simulator state. Ablations attribute the smoothness gain to the correction channel. On MuJoCo Humanoid-v5 at 2.6M steps, PhySA lowers joint acceleration by 26 to 32% relative to vanilla PPO, Text2Reward, and Eureka (three seeds), at the cost of shorter episodes. In a single extended run it lowers joint acceleration by 59.5% relative to Prompt2Policy, while a three-seed replication shows a smaller, non-significant reduction (7.2%). The gain does not transfer to IsaacLab or the Unitree G1, even after rescaling the smoothness term.

Adversarially Robust Streaming Algorithms for $(k, z)$-Clustering

Chengzhi Guo, Shaofeng H. C. Jiang, Robert Krauthgamer, David P. Woodruff, Shenghao Xie, Samson Zhou

We design adversarially robust algorithms for dynamic geometric streams that $(1 + ε)$-approximate $k$-Median and $k$-Means in Euclidean space $\mathbb{R}^d$, using $\tilde{O}(kd \mathrm{poly}(ε^{-1}))$ space. This result significantly improves a recent $O(d\log n)$-approximation for $k$-Median [Gribelyuk, Lin, Woodruff, Yu, and Zhou, FOCS 2026], and is furthermore the first algorithm whose space is linear in $kd$, even in the oblivious (non-adaptive) setting. We develop several new techniques which may be of independent interest, including a new data-oblivious Euclidean primitive called hierarchical Lipschitz assignment, a robust dimensionality reduction for clustering, and a robust streaming algorithm for inner-product queries.

GEKey: Learning Geodesic Eccentric 3D Keypoints via Self-Supervision

Pierre Onghena, Santiago Velasco-Forero, Beatriz Marcotegui

Point clouds represent 3D object geometry as sets of spatial coordinates. A fundamental task in their analysis is keypoint detection, i.e., identifying a sparse subset of points that captures the most salient features. While supervised methods rely on manual annotations, unsupervised approaches leverage intrinsic geometric properties to localize keypoints without human input. We introduce GEKey, a self-supervised framework that uses the geodesic eccentricity transform, an SE(3)-invariant geometric measure, to identify instance-specific salient points. These points serve as pseudo-labels to train a model that aligns its predictions with the object's intrinsic structure. GEKey is simple, efficient, and robust, preserving intra-class variation by balancing instance-specific and category-level structure. Extensive experiments on ShapeNetCoreV2, KeypointNet, CAPE, ITOP, and DeformingThings4D show state-of-the-art performance in both keypoint detection and alignment, with strong resilience to noise, downsampling, deformations, and real-world conditions. The code and pretrained models are available at https://github.com/Pierreoo/GEKey.

faulTPM: Exposing AMD fTPMs' Deepest Secrets

Hans Niklas Jacob, Christian Werling, Robert Buhren, Jean-Pierre Seifert

Trusted Platform Modules constitute an integral building block of modern security features. Moreover, as Windows 11 made a TPM 2.0 mandatory, they are subject to an ever-increasing academic challenge. While discrete TPMs - as found in higher-end systems - have been susceptible to attacks on their exposed communication interface, more common firmware TPMs (fTPMs) are immune to this attack vector as they do not communicate with the CPU via an exposed bus. In this paper, we analyze a new class of attacks against fTPMs: Attacking their Trusted Execution Environment can lead to a full TPM state compromise. We experimentally verify this attack by compromising the AMD Secure Processor, which constitutes the TEE for AMD's fTPMs. In contrast to previous dTPM sniffing attacks, this vulnerability exposes the complete internal TPM state of the fTPM. It allows us to extract any cryptographic material stored or sealed by the fTPM regardless of authentication mechanisms such as Platform Configuration Register validation or passphrases with anti-hammering protection. First, we demonstrate the impact of our findings by - to the best of our knowledge - enabling the first attack against Full Disk Encryption solutions backed by an fTPM. Furthermore, we lay out how any application relying solely on the security properties of the TPM - like Bitlocker's TPM- only protector - can be defeated by an attacker with 2-3 hours of physical access to the target device. Lastly, we analyze the impact of our attack on FDE solutions protected by a TPM and PIN strategy. While a naive implementation also leaves the disk completely unprotected, we find that BitLocker's FDE implementation withholds some protection depending on the complexity of the used PIN. Our results show that when an fTPM's internal state is compromised, a TPM and PIN strategy for FDE is less secure than TPM-less protection with a reasonable passphrase.

BizAgentBench: Unveiling Hidden Challenges in Deploying Long-Horizon Agents for Real-World Business

Enhan Zhao, Yongqi Tong, Xuejun Yu, Hang Wang, Pan Wang, Yichao Wang, Di He, Jianshe Li 等 10 位作者

Existing long-horizon agent benchmarks often emphasize final task success while providing limited assessment of intermediate execution validity. Yet real-world business operations require agents to navigate extensive, potentially outdated or conflicting policies while satisfying critical constraints throughout execution. These requirements are particularly consequential in high-stakes domains such as payments, where intermediate violations can incur financial losses or regulatory consequences regardless of the final outcome. To bridge this evaluation gap, we introduce BizAgentBench, a multi-turn benchmark grounded in real-world procedures from a leading payments company. Its executable environment integrates 789 knowledge documents and 601 discoverable business tools, with consistent policies, states, and tool behavior. The benchmark comprises 50 tasks involving resource constraints, temporal dependencies, prior commitments, and conflicting or outdated guidance. Each task is validated through reference execution, while deterministic checks assess both goal attainment and execution validity without prescribing a single solution path. Experiments reveal substantial limitations even among frontier models: Claude Opus 5 and GPT-6 Sol achieve strict success rates of only 64.0% and 61.3%, respectively. For Qwen3.8-27B, goal attainment reaches 42.0%, but strict success drops to 32.7%, demonstrating how outcome-based evaluation can mask invalid execution. Beyond success rates, DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash averages 191.3 tool calls per run, approximately 70% more than reference executions, revealing substantial execution overhead. Overall, BizAgentBench establishes a testbed for evaluating and advancing long-horizon agents beyond task completion, toward reliable and constraint-compliant execution in complex business environments.

$O(1/n)$ Convergence Rate for RVI $Q$-Learning

Avik Kar, Siddharth Chandak, Rahul Singh, Shalabh Bhatnagar

We establish finite-time convergence guarantee for synchronous relative value iteration (RVI) $Q$-learning for finite weakly communicating Markov decision processes (MDPs). For stochastic Krasnosel'skiĭ--Mann iterations driven by a non-expansive, linearly regular map on a finite-dimensional normed space, we establish last-iterate mean-squared residual bounds under martingale-difference noise whose conditional second moment grows at most linearly with the squared residual. Suitable polynomial stepsizes of order $n^{-a}$ yield an $O(n^{-a})$ rate for $0<a\leq1$. We verify linear regularity and the noise condition for the centered Bellman operator for finite weakly communicating MDPs. Applying the general result gives an $O(n^{-1})$ bound on the mean-squared Bellman span residual of RVI $Q$-learning iterates when a suitable stepsize sequence is used. The positive gap between optimal and suboptimal stationary deterministic policies then yields an $O(n^{-1})$ bound on the expected suboptimality of the greedy policy. Consequently, $O(ε^{-1})$ synchronous iterations suffice for an $ε$-optimal policy in expectation. These guarantees are instance-dependent, with constants that depend on the hitting-time parameters and the suboptimality gap of the second-best policy.

Randomized Parallel Complexity of Weakly Convex Optimization

Kang Liu

We study the minimum number of query rounds needed to find approximate stationary points of nonsmooth weakly convex functions, measured by the gradient of the Moreau envelope. Each round permits multiple simultaneous queries. In the stated parameter regime, the standard subgradient rate is optimal in sufficiently high dimensions, even for randomized algorithms making polynomially many parallel queries per round. We then show how the order structure of the real line enables faster search: a deterministic algorithm using only function values achieves logarithmic round complexity, with a further reduction through parallel queries. Matching lower bounds hold even when each query returns the entire subdifferential. Together, these results clarify the role of dimension in determining the benefits of parallel queries for weakly convex optimization.

Instrumental Variables in Continuous-Time Stochastic Processes

Lars Pennig, Søren Wengel Mogensen, Niki Kilbertus

Causal questions often arise in systems that evolve in continuous time. While instrumental variable (IV) methods provide a principled approach to identify causal effects in static or discrete-time settings, even in the presence of unobserved confounding, they do not yet extend to continuous-time dynamics. In this work, we develop an IV framework for stationary continuous-time stochastic processes parameterized by stochastic differential equations (SDE), where the instrument itself takes the form of a stochastic process. We encode the structural sparsity and causal effects directly at the infinitesimal level of the drift, and contrast these assumptions with the IV assumptions on the discretized version of the same process. Based on these structural assumptions, we derive moment restrictions using path-valued instruments. We show how these restrictions simplify for Ornstein-Uhlenbeck processes and present an identification condition together with a corresponding consistent estimation method. Finally, we extend our estimation framework to nonlinear causal effects by expressing the path-based moment restrictions leveraging the signature kernel. Empirically, our method recovers causal effects in confounded continuous-time systems where maximum-likelihood-based estimation and discrete-time IV methods are systematically biased.

Egocentric Action Recognition with Objects and Vision-Language Affordances

Raúl Boix-Aldeguer, Manuel Benavent-Lledo, David Ortiz-Perez, Jose Garcia-Rodriguez

Action recognition, and more specifically egocentric action recognition, is a core task in computer vision, with applications such as monitoring the daily life activities of elderly people and task assistance. Recent methods rely on visual modalities such as RGB video or depth. However, in egocentric video, an action is largely defined by its objects, which these methods rarely model. We propose a method that combines a frozen SlowFast video expert with an attention-based object expert by late fusion. Each object is represented with its affordances, that is, what can be done with it, generated zero-shot by a vision-language model. Since datasets such as MECCANO annotate only the objects involved in each action, evaluating with these boxes tells the model which objects are active. We therefore train on annotated boxes and evaluate the method with detections from the official active-object detector, and with annotated boxes as an upper bound. Without affordances, our fusion reaches 68.4% Top-1 with annotated boxes but 49.0% with detections. About half of this drop comes from non-active detections. To remove them, the same vision-language model generates an interaction affordance that decides whether a hand is manipulating each detected object. On MECCANO, objects raise the Top-1 of the video expert from 44.9% to 49.0%, and the two affordances raise it to 49.9%, above SlowFast and object-aware RGB baselines. Code will be released upon acceptance.

V-LUMEN: Visual Lookup Memory for Embedding Scaling in Vision-Language Models

Miso Choi, Daekeun Kim, Eunji Kim, Jungbeom Lee

Embedding-level scaling expands the capacity of language models through lookup-based memory rather than by increasing model depth, width, or dense computation. Extending this idea to vision-language models (VLMs) is challenging because visual features are continuous, spatially structured, and query-dependent, unlike discrete text tokens that naturally support n-gram lookup. We introduce V-LUMEN, a visual lookup memory for VLMs. V-LUMEN discretizes visual features with a frozen codebook, builds spatially aware memory keys through spatial aggregation-based hashing, and modulates them with text-conditioned relevance signals; all addressing is non-parametric, and the retrieved embeddings are fused into the backbone through a gated residual pathway. On five reasoning-intensive benchmarks, V-LUMEN substantially improves a frozen Qwen3-VL-2B backbone and transfers zero-shot to three benchmarks whose images are disjoint from the training data. At a matched parameter budget, moving part of a LoRA or MoE adapter's capacity into V-LUMEN preserves accuracy on two backbones, indicating that external visual memory is an independent capacity axis rather than a stronger adaptation method. Because lookup cost is constant in table size and incurred only once at prefill, this capacity grows in storage rather than in per-token compute. Code is available at https://github.com/miso-choi/V-Lumen.

OneRanker: Unified Generation and Ranking with One Model in Industrial Advertising Recommendation

Dekai Sun, Yiming Liu, Jiafan Zhou, Xun Liu, Chenchen Yu, Yi Li, Jun Zhang, Huan Yu 等 9 位作者

The end-to-end generative paradigm is revolutionizing advertising recommendation systems, driving a shift from traditional cascaded architectures towards unified modeling. However, practical deployment faces three core challenges: the misalignment between interest objectives and business value, the target-agnostic limitation of generative processes, and the disconnection between generation and ranking stages. Existing solutions often fall into a dilemma where single-stage fusion induces optimization tension, while stage decoupling causes irreversible information loss. To address this, we propose OneRanker, achieving architectural-level deep integration of generation and ranking. First, we design a value-aware multi-task decoupling architecture. By leveraging task token sequences and causal mask, we separate interest coverage and value optimization spaces within shared representations, effectively alleviating target conflicts. Second, we construct a coarse-to-fine collaborative target awareness mechanism, utilizing Fake Item Tokens for implicit awareness during generation and a ranking decoder for explicit value alignment at the candidate level. Finally, we propose input-output dual-side consistency guarantees. Through Key/Value pass-through mechanisms and Distribution Consistency (DC) Constraint Loss, we achieve end-to-end collaborative optimization between generation and ranking. The full deployment on Tencent's WeiXin channels advertising system has shown a significant improvement in key business metrics (GMV - Normal +1.34\%), providing a new paradigm with industrial feasibility for generative advertising recommendations.

Calibrated Target Noise Recovers Curvature from the Gradients

Arash Jamshidi, Katsiaryna Haitsiukevich, Aristides Gionis, Kai Puolamäki

Estimating curvature information from gradients alone is a fundamental problem in machine learning. The challenge becomes particularly acute in settings where only aggregate mini-batch gradients are available, yet curvature information is still required for applications such as preconditioning in optimisation, sampling, and early stopping. Perhaps surprisingly, we show that a simple target-perturbation scheme suffices to recover such curvature information from gradients alone. Our method injects zero-mean noise into the targets, with variance calibrated to the local output curvature. The covariance of the resulting noisy batch gradients then recovers practical curvature matrices, without requiring per-sample gradients, second-order derivatives, or other internal network quantities. For a broad class of non-linear models, our scheme recovers the Generalised Gauss--Newton (GGN) matrix; for feed-forward ReLU networks, it additionally recovers the diagonal blocks of the population Hessian. We demonstrate that the resulting estimator is simple, lightweight, provably optimal, and easy to integrate into existing training pipelines. Experiments demonstrate accurate curvature recovery, faster optimisation when the estimator is used for preconditioning, and the utility of the estimated GGN for early stopping.

Greedy Alignment Principle for Optimizer Hyperparameter Selection

Jaerin Lee, Kyoung Mu Lee

Recent works have shown that gradient-update alignment is a powerful signal for modulating optimizer updates, often leading to faster training. We promote this update-wise heuristic as a mathematically grounded principle for selecting and tuning optimizer hyperparameters. By treating gradients and updates as signals and an optimizer as a causal filter that maps between them, we formulate optimizer selection as maximizing the expected drop rate in loss over a prescribed family of optimizers. We show that this objective is exactly the inner product between the optimizer filter and the gradient autocorrelation, and prove that a greedy optimum exists and has a stability bound under perturbations of the estimated gradient statistics. Specializing in momentum-based optimizers, the theory yields simple dynamic momentum selection rules for both SGD+Momentum and Adam/AdamW. Experiments across image classification, language model fine-tuning, and vision transformer fine-tuning show that the resulting dynamic momentum rules match or improve upon the best fixed hyperparameters found via manual sweeps, reducing the need for exhaustive momentum sweeps. openJiuwen: Beyond Static Harnesses for Long-Horizon Coding Agents

Tao Yu, Xinyu Zhang, Qianqian Chen, Xiaoneng Xiang, Chia Kwangyang, Xingchen Huang, Ran Chen, Yangkai Ding 等 19 位作者

Long-horizon coding agents operate over evolving repository states while increasingly relying on heterogeneous capabilities, delegated agents, and multi-agent coordination. These trends pose two complementary challenges for the agent harness. First, developers need to compose capabilities, reconfigure execution logic, and scale increasingly complex agent systems without repeatedly rebuilding orchestration. Second, complex coding tasks continuously produce new evidence---such as semantic diagnostics, execution outcomes, task progress, and changing context relevance---that should dynamically influence subsequent runtime decisions. We characterize these challenges as Structural Composability and Runtime Adaptivity. We present openJiuwen, an open-source harness designed for both developer composability and adaptive task execution. openJiuwen provides a shared execution substrate and Rail-based capability composition across single agents, delegated sub-agents, and Swarm Flow, enabling developers to construct sophisticated agent harnesses under common execution semantics. It further adapts framework-controlled runtime decisions around a fixed model policy, allowing evolving evidence to dynamically affect context, feedback, and task control toward successful completion. We systematically evaluate openJiuwen on SWE-bench Verified and Terminal-Bench 2.1, where it achieves 82.6% and 87.19%, respectively, exceeding the strongest selected official-leaderboard point estimates by 3.4 and 3.39 percentage points. These results show that openJiuwen achieves strong performance on complex coding tasks while providing a composable and adaptive harness design.

Evo-DexBench: Benchmarking Generalization across Related Tasks for Dexterous Manipulation

Bing Cheng, Yiran Mao, Zewei Ye, Yifan Jin, Xinyi Chen, Ruifeng Tu, Shuhuai Wang, Tao Lin 等 13 位作者

General-purpose dexterous manipulation requires policies to transfer knowledge from related tasks to new tasks with only a few target demonstrations. Existing benchmarks often provide too many target demonstrations and leave the differences between source and target tasks uncontrolled. As a result, they cannot clearly distinguish knowledge transfer from task memorization. Our key insight is the Core-Gen principle. Core tasks are related tasks that share a functional interaction and provide source knowledge, while a Gen task is a novel target within the same functional family that has only a few demonstrations. This setup tests whether a policy can reuse functional interaction knowledge. Based on this principle, we propose Evo-DexBench, which controls both source-task relatedness and target-task exposure. It comprises 30 tasks in six functional families, three everyday scenes per task, and 1,248 multimodal demonstrations collected via VR teleoperation with simulated Shadow Hands equipped with 123 taxels. Experiments show that, among six representative policies, even the best-performing method achieves an average success rate of only 24.4%, highlighting the challenges existing methods face in transferring functional interaction knowledge. Further analysis shows that, across the two tasks, joint Core + Gen training improves performance by 12% and 38%, respectively, over training on Core followed by fine-tuning on Gen, indicating that joint training makes better use of Core knowledge. With matched Core data, 8 Gen demonstrations achieve performance comparable to training on 16--32 Gen demonstrations alone. On all three tested Gen targets, functionally matched Core data yields greater gains in success rate than mismatched data. We release the Evo-DexBench dataset and benchmark to support the evaluation of dexterous manipulation policies' generalization across related tasks.

Decoder-Agnostic Token Merging for Vision Transformers: A Systematic Study of G2TM

Victor Bercy, Martyna Poreba, Michal Szczepanski, Samia Bouchafa

Vision Transformers (ViTs) have achieved state-of-the-art performance across a range of computer vision tasks, mainly thanks to the self-attention mechanism. However, its complexity, increasing quadratically with the number of tokens, remains the major obstacle to ViT efficiency and deployment at scale. Token merging reduces this cost by aggregating redundant tokens. Yet existing methods are typically evaluated within a single architecture, leaving open whether their effectiveness stems from the merging mechanism itself or from the specific decoder they are paired with. We extend Graph-Guided Token Merging (G2TM), a single module inserted early in a ViT-based network, beyond its original Segmenter setting. We evaluate G2TM across three semantic segmentation frameworks (Segmenter, SETR, EoMT) and three decoder families (Linear, Transformer-, convolution-based), as well as standard ViT image classification. Our results show that G2TM's behavior and accuracy-efficiency trade-off are consistent across every tested architecture for a given backbone size, indicating that its effectiveness is a property of the encoder rather than the decoder. G2TM also generalizes well to image classification, achieving an even smaller degradation in accuracy compared to semantic segmentation. We further find that G2TM's optimal hyperparameters, resulting in a consistent drop in GFLOPs of 22-47% and an increase in throughput by up to 74% for segmentation models on ADE20K dataset, depend primarily on the backbone's pre-training recipe and on the target dataset, rather than on the decoder choice.

An Information Bottleneck for Post-hoc Memorization Mitigation in LLMs

Dina EL Zein, Shashi Kumar, James Henderson

Recent studies have shown that large language models (LLMs) can memorize and reproduce copyrighted training data, raising serious privacy and intellectual property concerns. In this work, we investigate whether memorization can be mitigated without modifying or retraining the underlying model through an information bottleneck. We propose a modular plug-and-play framework that inserts a nonparametric variational information bottleneck (NVIB) between a frozen LLM backbone and its language modeling head. By compressing the final hidden representations before token prediction, the proposed bottleneck aims to preserve general linguistic knowledge while filtering out highly specific memorized sequences. We evaluate our approach on memorization extraction tasks involving book passages and on standard language modeling benchmarks to measure the trade-off between memorization reduction and downstream utility. Our experiments show that the NVIB layer substantially reduces extractability while maintaining competitive performance on benchmark tasks. These results suggest that adding an information bottleneck offers a practical and architecture agnostic direction for post-hoc memorization mitigation in pretrained LLMs.

Who Should Know What? Empirical Information Design for Multi-Agent LLM Economies

Mete Erdogan, Mirac Suzgun, Aneesh Pappu, Guowei Xu, Batu El, Andrew A. Schoen, Furong Huang, John P. Dickerson 等 10 位作者

The performance of multi-agent LLM systems depends not only on the capabilities of the underlying models but also on information-sharing policies, which govern what information each agent observes and at what level of detail. But does providing AI agents with more detailed information always improve collective outcomes, or can transparency paradoxically degrade efficiency? To investigate this, we introduce empirical information design, an experimental framework that systematically compares disclosure policies across economic markets populated by LLM agents, while holding interaction rules and models fixed. We evaluate ten frontier LLMs in multi-resource trade, bilateral bargaining, and double auctions, using ground-truth utilities to decouple identified opportunities from realized outcomes. We find that finer information disclosure yields highly model-dependent results. In trade, revealing exact valuations rather than ordinal preference rankings reduces realized gains for GPT-6 Sol (from 98% to 91% of maximum) yet increases them for Claude Sonnet 5 (from 72% to 86%). In bargaining, exact information leads Grok 4.7 to produce less balanced agreements, whereas Claude Opus 5.5 divides gains symmetrically. In double auctions, full disclosure inflates price demands, triggering market breakdown and lowering welfare for Gemini 3.1 Pro (97% to 78%), Claude Opus 5.5 (94% to 64%), and Grok 4.7 (97% to 62%). Overall, these results suggest that model selection and information design must be co-optimized, as LLMs vary in how their strategic responses to information impact system objectives.

A central role of personal-agent memory is to turn stored information and prior interactions into future-oriented assistance. In daily use, useful cues come from what the agent observes and how the user interacts with the agent, and the agent must carry them forward from the current request to similar future tasks. Existing memory benchmarks usually test dialogue recall or task improvement in isolation, leaving the trajectory from streaming observations to later assistance largely untested. We introduce StreamMemBench, a streaming benchmark that constructs a two-step task sequence around each evidence anchor from EgoLife egocentric streams. The initial task tests evidence use, while the follow-up task tests whether feedback and interaction experience are reused. Four metrics diagnose evidence recall, initial evidence use, feedback incorporation, and follow-up reuse. Experiments with eight memory systems across two backbones show that current systems often fail to use observed evidence or turn feedback into reliable follow-up behavior, even when evidence is stored or feedback is incorporated locally. StreamMemBench is publicly available at https://github.com/landian60/StreamMemBench.

BRIDGE: Lazy-Move Compilation for Dual-Species Neutral-Atom Quantum Computers

Chen Huang, Jingbo Wang, Zhemin Zhang, Ming Zhong, Zhuo Fu, Zhiding Liang, Yuan Sun, Dong E. Liu

Neutral-atom quantum computers commonly connect distant qubits by transporting atoms, incurring trap-handover errors, heating, and atom loss. We present BRIDGE (Buffer-Relay Interconnect for Data-stable Gate Execution), a hardware--software co-design that connects stationary data atoms through a fixed, second-species buffer network. Short buffer chains mediate remote controlled-Z gates and return to their initial states after each operation. BRIDGE-F combines relay routing with buffer-mediated SWAPs to relocate quantum states without transporting atoms. BRIDGE-H additionally permits data-atom transport when its full modeled cost is offset by higher survival-weighted fidelity. Across 21 circuits, BRIDGE-F exceeds ZAP and Enola in modeled survival-weighted fidelity, with geometric-mean ratios of $2.1\times$ and $38\times$ and medians of $1.3\times$ and $3.7\times$. Modeled execution latency is lower by factors of approximately $500$ and $1{,}350$, respectively, with circuit single-qubit costs excluded and relay/SWAP Hadamards included. On the same fabric, BRIDGE-F matches or exceeds SABRE-based routing on 17 circuits. Rescoring nominal plans with relay-module error equal to direct-CZ error preserves the advantage over ZAP across all 21 circuits, although recompilation can underperform on QFT. These results identify stationary buffer-mediated connectivity as a promising alternative to repeated atom transport under the stated physical assumptions.

LSD-3D: Large-Scale 3D Driving Scene Generation with Geometry Grounding

Julian Ost, Andrea Ramazzina, Amogh Joshi, Maximilian Bömer, Mario Bijelic, Felix Heide

Large-scale scene data is essential for training and testing in robot learning. Neural reconstruction methods have promised the capability of reconstructing large physically-grounded outdoor scenes from captured sensor data. However, these methods have baked-in static environments and only allow for limited scene control -- they are functionally constrained in scene and trajectory diversity by the captures from which they are reconstructed. In contrast, generating driving data with recent image or video diffusion models offers control, however, at the cost of geometry grounding and causality. In this work, we aim to bridge this gap and present a method that directly generates large-scale 3D driving scenes with accurate geometry, allowing for causal novel view synthesis with object permanence and explicit 3D geometry estimation. The proposed method combines the generation of a proxy geometry and environment representation with score distillation from learned 2D image priors. We find that this approach allows for high controllability, enabling the prompt-guided geometry and high-fidelity texture and structure that can be conditioned on map layouts -- producing realistic and geometrically consistent 3D generations of complex driving scenes.

Extracting Single-Mode Rayleigh--Taylor Instability dynamics from data via SINDy

Chuanxing Wang, Hui Luo, Guohuai Zhu, Hongbo Cai, Shaoping Zhu, Mingxing Luo

Rayleigh-Taylor instability (RTI) is of fundamental importance in fields such as inertial confinement fusion and supernova explosions, and its evolution is commonly described by potential--flow theory and buoyancy--drag models. However, both types of models struggle to accurately capture the overshoot behavior of bubble and spike velocities, as well as the subsequent reacceleration stage. To address these limitations, we develop a physics-constrained, data-driven framework based on the integral formulation of Sparse Identification of Nonlinear Dynamics (SINDy), which extracts low-dimensional dynamical equations for bubble and spike evolution directly from data. By introducing the nondimensional initial amplitude $A_0 = kη_0$ as an explicit parameter, we identify distinct dynamical equations for the bubble and the spike based on data spanning multiple Atwood numbers and initial amplitudes. The resulting low-dimensional dynamical equations not only reproduce the overshoot behavior of the velocity with good accuracy, but also capture the reacceleration stage well, while maintaining high predictive accuracy at unseen values of the wavenumber, acceleration, and Atwood number. This work provides a physics-constrained, data-driven framework complementary to conventional potential-flow and buoyancy--drag models, accurately describing the dynamical evolution of the bubble and spike at high Atwood numbers, and provides a new perspective for directly extracting the dynamical equations of interfacial instabilities from data.

CoGenRec: A Unified Generative Framework for Complementary Vision Reconstruction

Yapeng Meng, Yuguo Chen, Xiangru Chen, Shaojun Xu, Xuezhen Wang, Lijian Wang, Zheyu Yang, Yihan Lin 等 10 位作者

Capturing scenes with extreme motion and high dynamic range is fundamentally constrained by trade-offs among temporal resolution, spatial detail, signal-to-noise ratio, and dynamic range under practical bandwidth, power, and quantum-efficiency limits. Conventional frame-based cameras therefore suffer from temporal undersampling, exposure-induced motion blur, and sensor saturation. The Complementary Vision Sensor (CVS) addresses these limitations by decomposing visual information across two complementary pathways, a spatially dense, temporally sparse, long-exposure RGB pathway and a temporally dense, spatially sparse, short-exposure patiotemporal difference pathway. Their complementary measurements provide appearance, structural, and motion cues across a wide dynamic range that enable reconstruction beyond conventional imaging. We present CoGenRec, a complementarity-driven generative reconstruction framework that unifies video deblurring, high-temporal-resolution frame interpolation, and HDR fusion. CoGenRec encodes complementary measurements into multi-scale spatiotemporal features using exposure-aware appearance modeling and bidirectional temporal propagation. These features constrain a video diffusion model and are injected into the VAE decoder to recover fine structures lost during latent-space compression, combining the scene fidelity of physical measurements with the appearance recovery capabilities of learned video priors. On SportsSloMo-CVS, CoGenRec improves PSNR over the strongest general-purpose baseline by 4.40 dB for deblurring, 3.89 dB for frame interpolation, and 5.04 dB for HDR fusion, respectively. It also achieves strong perceptual quality on 129 unseen scenes captured with real CVS. These results establish a unified approach to advance high-quality reconstruction under challenging motion and illumination conditions. Project page: https://cogenrec.github.io/.

Energy-Aware Open-Vocabulary Detection Scheduling for Low-Power Robotic Autonomy

Abdul Basit, Muhammad Shafique

Open-vocabulary object detection (OVD) lets robots search for run-time object queries, but fixed-rate inference spends embedded compute on low-value frames during idle motion, map revisits, or stable viewpoints. This paper presents an energy-aware OVD scheduler for low-power mobile robots. The scheduler uses odometry, map change, and detector confidence to switch among low-, mid-, and high-power YOLO-World-S modes on a Jetson Orin Nano. We evaluate the energy-quality trade-off on an AgileX LIMO using 40 real navigation trials: two target objects, five placements per target-policy pair, and four perception policies. Across bottle and cup trials, the scheduler records 8/10 mission success compared with 7/10 for each fixed-rate baseline, while reducing mean Jetson input power (a Jetson-side power-draw metric) by 5.2% relative to an 8 Hz high-rate baseline and lowering achieved OVD call rate by 34.0%. It does not minimize mission-window Jetson input energy because longer missions can erase instantaneous power savings. A separate 60 s stationary microbenchmark isolates the perception workload: the scheduler lowers mean power from 8.045 W to 7.301 W and energy from 484.7 J to 438.1 J relative to the 8 Hz baseline. These results support robot-state-aware OVD scheduling as a promising power-management mechanism with competitive task reliability, while showing that mission-window Jetson input energy must be read together with task progress and runtime.

Which Objects Stay? Learning Hierarchical Persistence Beliefs for Lifelong Open-Vocabulary Object Maps

Thanh Nguyen Canh, Haolan Zhang, Nak Young Chong

Lifelong object maps must estimate whether an object remains at its previously observed location after it leaves view. Existing persistence filters rely on class-based survival priors, making them difficult to apply reliably in open-vocabulary settings. We introduce HiPer, a hierarchical persistence filter that derives persistence beliefs directly from data rather than semantic categories. For a new object, HiPer retrieves visually and geometrically similar training instances and estimates an initial survival rate from their observed histories, without requiring class labels. This estimate initializes a conjugate Beta belief over the object's survival probability, which is updated in closed form using detections and missed observations under Rosen's persistence-filter framework. When an object is re-identified at a new location, its persistence belief is transferred with the object, enabling the map to learn object-specific mobility over time. Experiments on 120 held-out simulated sequences show that HiPer consistently achieves the best performance among competing methods. Retrieval-based priors outperform CLIP-derived label priors, and object-specific online learning provides further gains. Results on 47 held-out 3RScan environments demonstrate that the proposed retrieval-based prior also outperforms state-of-the-art baselines in real-world settings.

A Universal Threshold Theory for Local Properties of Random Linear Codes

Vinayak M. Kumar, Ray Li, Jonathan Mosheiff, Gilad Shavit

Thresholds for local properties tell us which guarantees to expect from random linear codes (RLCs) and help us carry those guarantees over to structured codes. A monotone property is $b$-local if a collection of at most $b$ codewords can witness its satisfaction or failure, as in list decoding and list recovery. The threshold of $\mathcal P$ is the code dimension at which the probability that an RLC in $\mathbb{F}_q^n$ satisfies $\mathcal P$ crosses $1/2$ in a sharp transition. We show that the threshold of a $b$-local property $\mathcal P$ is within $O(b)$ dimensions of the expectation threshold. This is the dimension predicted by the best union bound over covers of $\mathcal P$: families of subspaces such that the span of every witness contains at least one member. This gives a general derandomization statement: Any decreasing local property satisfied by RLCs at a given rate holds at a similar rate for pseudorandom ensembles that fool the cover union bound. In addition to previously studied ensembles, these include codes whose parity-check matrix is sampled from a small-bias distribution. Because our threshold characterization applies to all local properties, this derandomization also reaches properties beyond the scope of earlier reductions, including maximum loads in linear hashing for arbitrary input sets, rank-metric list decoding, and list decoding from insertion-deletion errors and burst errors. Our theorem unifies and strengthens prior works on row-symmetric and coordinate-wise linear characterizations, which located the threshold to within $O(q^{2b}\log_q n)$ and $O(b^2+nb/\log_2 q)$ dimensions, respectively. We obtain $O(b)$ error for every $b$-local property, independently of alphabet size. Under suitable pseudorandomness bounds, the rate loss vanishes for every $b=o(n)$, compared to $b=O(\log n)$ for earlier frameworks.

Simple Meta-Learning for HPO and CASH Using Performance Representations

Emiel Witting, Cheng Yan, Tom Julian Viering

Bayesian optimization for Hyperparameter Optimization (HPO) and Combined Algorithm Selection and Hyperparameter Optimization (CASH) often relies on explicit hyperparameter encodings as surrogate inputs. In high-dimensional search spaces, however, such representations can make it difficult for standard surrogates to learn useful performance models. We instead study an alternative meta-learning representation that describes each configuration directly as its historical performance across prior tasks. This representation can be paired directly with standard surrogate models. Our scope is the iterative selection component of AutoML, deciding which configuration to evaluate next from a fixed candidate set, rather than a complete framework with features such as runtime estimation, cost-aware budgeting and ensembling. We further apply this representation to maximal marginal relevance (MMR), a diversity-based re-ranking criterion from recommender systems, as a posterior-free acquisition rule. When selecting and optimising across multiple models on the TabArena benchmark, the performance-based representation paired with a linear Bayesian ridge regression model outperforms dedicated meta-learning baselines, achieving the same tuned performance in roughly half the number of trials. For single-model HPO, it remains a competitive second. Across both benchmarks this method closely matches or improves on regret at a fraction of the complexity and cost, requiring no pre-training or tuning and scaling independently of search space dimensionality. Code for reproducing our results is available at https://github.com/EWitting/simple-metalearning.
