AI 速览:提出 RAVEN,一种基于复发感知下次就诊事件预测的序列 EHR 生成式预训练策略,并在百万级个体数据上考察其零样本预测与缩放行为。

While large-scale pretraining has revolutionized language modeling, its potential remains underexplored in healthcare with structured electronic health records (EHRs). We present RAVEN, a novel generative pretraining strategy for sequential EHR data based on Recurrence-Aware next-Visit EveNt prediction. Leveraging a dataset of over one million unique individuals, our model learns to autoregressively generate tokenized clinical events for the next visit conditioned on patient history. We introduce regularization on predicting repeated events and highlight a key pitfall in EHR-based foundation model evaluations: repeated event tokens can inflate performance metrics when new onsets are not distinguished from subsequent occurrences. Furthermore, we empirically investigate the scaling behaviors in a data-constrained, compute-saturated regime, showing that simply increasing model size is suboptimal without commensurate increases in data volume. We evaluate our model via zero-shot prediction for forecasting the incidence of a diverse set of diseases, where it rivals fully fine-tuned representation-based Transformer models and outperforms both standard simulation-based next-token approaches and a prompted medical large language model baseline. Finally, without additional parameter updates, we show that RAVEN can generalize to an external patient cohort under lossy clinical code mappings and feature coverage gaps.

PFM-HR: Pose Flow Matching for Humanoid Robots

Yukang Gao, Yi Gu, Yangchen Zhou, Xingyu Chen, Zhaorui Wang, Fanghai Zhang, Hanyang Cao, Zhengyang Shen 等 12 位作者

Motion priors improve reinforcement learning for physics-based humanoid tracking, but temporal priors require ordered motion clips, while pose priors provide limited guidance for policy-induced pose transitions. We present Pose Flow Matching for Humanoid Robots (PFM-HR), a reusable flow matching prior trained directly on large scale unordered pose data. PFM-HR introduces the Pose Geometry Score (PGS), which quantifies how joint coordinate changes during rollouts align with the local geometry of pose variation captured by the prior. Using PGS to modulate the tracking reward guides policy exploration toward structured pose changes while keeping the prior frozen across tracking tasks. Experiments demonstrate that PFM-HR improves both single motion and general motion tracking, especially for highly dynamic motions.

SALT: When More Rollouts Don't Help in Group-Based Policy Optimization and How to Make Them Matter

Powei Chang, Jinpeng Zhang, Chaoqun Sun, MiniWell Tsao, Lianrui Li, Jianxiang Xiang, Chenyu Wang, Yukang Gao 等 9 位作者

Reinforcement learning with verifiable rewards (RLVR) often adopts GRPO-style group-relative updates, sampling multiple rollouts per prompt to construct normalized learning signals. However, merely increasing the number of rollouts does not reliably strengthen learning: under GRPO-style group normalization, per-rollout policy-gradient features can concentrate into a low-rank, signed geometry, causing substantial cancellation during aggregation and weakening the effective update. We address this failure mode with SALT, a Subspace-Adaptive geometry pLug-in componenT that uses sample-wise gradient geometry to reweight the coefficients of group-relative updates. SALT estimates a dominant shared subspace from the mini-batch Gram geometry, decomposes group-relative coefficients into shared and residual channels, and adaptively amplifies the residual channel when signed cancellation is severe. Across diverse reasoning-oriented RLVR benchmarks and model scales, SALT improves effective update geometry and performance without modifying the reward model or the rollout sampling procedure.

MMUSV-Sim: A Maritime Simulation Platform for Multi-USV Cooperative Perception

Ziao Li, Jianxiong Ye, Biao Tang, Leping Zhang, Kun Zuo, Siyu Huang, Mengtang Li, Deyu Meng 等 9 位作者

Perception from a single unmanned surface vehicle (USV) is limited by sensing range, field of view, and occlusions caused by islands, port infrastructure, and nearby vessels. Multi-USV cooperative perception can alleviate these limitations by integrating complementary observations from distributed viewpoints. However, progress is constrained by the high cost of coordinated sea trials, the scarcity of multi-USV datasets, and the lack of integrated maritime simulation and evaluation tools. We present MMUSV-Sim, a perception-oriented maritime simulation and data-generation platform built on Unreal Engine 5 and Project AirSim. It supports configurable maritime scenarios, synchronized multimodal acquisition across multiple USVs, and consistent 3D annotations in a shared world frame. Using MMUSV-Sim, we construct MarU2U-200m, a synchronized multi-USV RGB--LiDAR dataset with 341 sequences and 14,385 scene frames. We establish a cooperative bird's-eye-view (BEV) vessel detection benchmark with LiDAR and RGB--LiDAR inputs. Experimental results show that Early Fusion improves LiDAR detection AP@0.5 from 64.26 to 81.46 compared with the single-USV baseline. RGB features further improve intermediate fusion, increasing AP@0.5 by up to 4.55 percentage points. LiDAR and RGB transfer experiments also show the value of the generated data as a pretraining source for real maritime detection. The project are available at https://github.com/lizaowo/MMUSV-Sim

Reasoning-Aware Cross-Modal Association Unlearning in Multimodal Large Reasoning Models

Xinghao Li, Chenchen Tan, Youyang Qu, Shujie Cui, Xingliang Yuan, Cunjian Chen, Chi Liu, Longxiang Gao

Multimodal large reasoning models (MLRMs) integrate visual inputs with textual and parametric knowledge, allowing sensitive information to be accessed through cross-modal associations during reasoning. This raises privacy concerns when a visual input should no longer provide access to such information. Machine unlearning can remove this influence without retraining the model from scratch. However, multimodal unlearning methods mainly target samples, concepts, or knowledge content, without separating the knowledge from the cross-modal association through which it is accessed. In reasoning models, target information may disappear from the final answer while remaining in intermediate reasoning, or be replaced by incorrect substitute knowledge. We therefore study cross-modal association unlearning, where the forget target is a designated visual-to-knowledge association: the model should suppress target-bearing behavior under the designated visual context while preserving access to the same knowledge in permitted contexts. We propose Visual-Keyed Counterfactual Rebinding (VKCR), a parameter-efficient framework for cross-modal association editing. VKCR first localizes the edit to a compact association-conditioned parameter subspace. It then reduces support for the designated target at task outputs and counterfactually rebinds the affected reasoning behavior by discouraging target-bearing or unsupported continuations while favoring valid non-sensitive alternatives. We further introduce CLEAR-R and MLLMU-R to evaluate target leakage, hallucinated reassociation, reasoning preservation, and modality-specific utility. Experiments show that VKCR substantially reduces image-conditioned target leakage and hallucinated reassociation, including across heterogeneous task formulations, while preserving non-sensitive visual reasoning and permitted text-only knowledge.

Robot-use Agents (RUAs) have shown promising zero-shot manipulation capabilities, but reliance on frontier, proprietary models limits research into further training. To democratize RUA research, we introduce uni-robot-agent, a unified harness for competitive open-weight robot use that supports further training. Without privileged inputs, an out-of-the-box Qwen3.8-Flash-Next achieves a RoboDojo Score of 31.39, surpassing the published GPT-6 Astra-RoboProbe result of 28.97 and many VLA/WAM baselines, and performs competitively on 19 real-world tasks. Our analysis across model generations, families, and sizes links effective robot use to four general capabilities, suggesting that future RUA training should develop them jointly.

What Sets the Serving Speed of Looped Language Models? Measurements and Optimizations Graded by Exactness

Dezhen Lu, Runguo Li, Zixiang Ni, Yuchen Tang, Xingquan Kong, Jiaxing Yang, Jiarui Guo, Lingxiang Gao

Looped language models apply one block of layers many times per token, so a serving engine pays every per-layer overhead once per loop; we measure serving for Ouro and Huginn-0125 in an open-source looped-model engine and grade our optimizations from bitwise-identical changes to those that require an accuracy check. At batch 1, fusing all loop submissions leaves Ouro throughput at 0.99x; the 5689 small kernels per token are the real cost, and fusing them behind rounding fences raises throughput 1.11-1.59x while 1014/1014 requests remain identical. An approximate fusion is no faster and misses a one-point GSM8K rule on 87 questions (61 and 62 correct versus 64), so we do not ship it. Huginn's released defaults avoid dead KV slots, reuse prefix-cache pages, and serve 1.77-3.16x faster than the base engine; Ouro reaches 1.65-2.15x and agent sessions 1.91-3.21x, while Huginn's noise and prefix-reuse changes stay within one point on all 1319 Huginn test questions; Huginn's packed prefill, -0.61 points on the same questions, meets that rule only on its point estimate. Position-keyed noise makes CPU cache reuse exact but still leaves 20 of 128 GPU full hits different, while loop fusion delays prefill admission and a 64-graph cache prevents eager fallbacks. Under prefill-decode disaggregation ExactLoop reaches up to 3.3x the base throughput with peer error handling disabled, and 3.1x in two of three runs with it enabled. Its transfer budget, sized to hold one request's KV in flight, cuts the commit tail from about one second under the earlier budget to 16 ms (base: 2.8 s), removing the polling rounds that the engine's interval would otherwise impose.

HiLo-WAM: Decoupling Long-Horizon Task Evolution and Local Dynamics in World Action Models

Xingyu Wang, Yanjiang Guo, Zhijing Ding, Jiaxin Fang, Zeyu Lai, Jiayu Dong, Weikang Wan, Jianyu Chen 等 10 位作者

World Action Models (WAMs) improve robotic manipulation by jointly modeling visual dynamics and robot actions. However, most existing WAMs model dense short-horizon visual dynamics, capturing local interactions but providing limited long-range task context. Extending prediction horizons increases uncertainty and computation while entangling task-level evolution with fine-grained local dynamics, obscuring their dependencies and distinct roles in action generation. We propose HiLo-WAM, which decouples long-horizon task evolution from local visual dynamics while jointly modeling their interaction with robot actions. A sparse long-horizon visual stream captures historical task context and future evolution, while a dense local dynamics visual stream models short-horizon robot-object interactions. The two streams operate at different temporal scales within a unified dual-DiT architecture and guide actions through structured cross-stream attention. Progressive inference further reduces unnecessary computation through stream-wise partial denoising, joint denoising, and dynamic skipping. Experiments demonstrate strong long-horizon manipulation performance: HiLo-WAM achieves a 93.70% average success rate on RoboTwin 2.0 and a 17.43 progress score on RoboDojo long-horizon tasks, with robust in-domain and OOD performance on the Fourier GR-3 robot. Ablations confirm the complementary contributions of long-horizon task evolution and local interaction dynamics, while temporal-scale analyses highlight the importance of balancing temporal coverage and resolution. Progressive inference further achieves a 2.93x speedup while improving performance.

PROSE: Preservation-Constrained Selective Editing for Guilty Bias in Legal Judgment Prediction

Yimeng Wang, Zeyuan Tian, Xinyu Wang, Danyang Gao, Chenglei Shen, Zhongxiang Sun, Lei La, Weijie Yu

Legal judgment prediction models may retain a guilty verdict after a legally decisive condition has been altered such that the specified charge is no longer established. We study this guilty bias via selective repair over matched charge-established and charge-not-established cases, where the unsupported verdict should change while its supported counterpart remains stable. We construct CAIL-MC, a legally reviewed dataset of 11,478 matched pairs covering 261 Chinese criminal charges. Held-out activation interventions show that contrasts learned from correctly resolved pairs transfer to false-guilty cases, but target-reaching interventions can also damage matched supported-guilty decisions. Motivated by this observation, we introduce PROSE, which reconstructs case-specific targets from a training-derived residual geometry, aligns them with a local margin-descent signal, attenuates supported-guilty-sensitive components, and realizes bounded targets through a preservation-regularized low-rank parameter update. Across Qwen3-8B and GLM4-9B, PROSE achieves stronger pairwise safe repair and evidence sensitivity, while preserving standard single-pass inference.

Omnilingual-MsASR: Benchmarking Multimodal, Multilingual, Long-Form Multi-Speaker ASR of Omni Large Language Models

Yuan Ge, Pei Zhang, Xize Cheng, Lingzhou Mu, Mingyang Wang, Jin Xu, Baosong Yang, Shengxiang Gao 等 11 位作者

Omni-modal large language models (LLMs) have achieved remarkable progress in audio and video understanding. However, existing models struggle with long-form, multi-speaker videos, especially in understanding the entire video and recognizing who says what and when. To characterize the capability limit of current omni LLMs and guide future model development, we introduce Omnilingual-MsASR, a multilingual, multimodal benchmark for long-form Multi-speaker Automatic Speech Recognition (MsASR) covering six languages, recordings up to 30 minutes, and scenarios with up to 20 speakers. Omnilingual-MsASR provides parallel audio and video inputs to evaluate models' cross-modal consistency and their ability to exploit complementary cues across modalities. Extensive evaluations of leading omni-modal LLMs reveal substantial performance bottlenecks, while their tcpWERs frequently exceed 100%. These findings highlight fine-grained temporal localization, speaker disambiguation, and cross-modal synergy as key challenges for future omni-modal foundation models. Our work is available at https://github.com/QwenLM/Omnilingua-Bench/tree/main/Omnilingua-MSpeaker.

COSMIO: A Benchmark for Cross-Survey Modality Imputation

Dichang Zhang, Yixuan Shao, Jiaqi Deng, Jiali Cui, Haotian Yin, Yuanpeng Liu, Xiang Gao, Zhiqiang Lao 等 11 位作者

Large-scale astronomical surveys define a heterogeneous, partially observed multi-survey learning setting: each object is observed by only a subset of surveys, while survey observations differ in resolutions, wavelength coverage, noise characteristics, and footprints. This setting gives rise to a natural machine learning problem: given observations of an object in some surveys, how to infer its appearance in other surveys. We formalize this as the problem of cross-survey modality imputation and introduce COSMIO, a multi-survey benchmark of aligned observations obtained by forward-rendered shared astrophysical scenes across LSST, Euclid, and Roman under survey-specific instrument characteristics. The benchmark enables systematic evaluation of imputation across source-target survey combinations and missing-survey patterns. We evaluate a broad range of machine learning methods for imputation, which reveal a clear domain gap: methods developed for existing imputation settings transfer poorly to the survey setting. We identify rare-event imputation as a central challenge. This regime arises in the early stages of new surveys, when rare but scientifically valuable phenomena may be available only from prior surveys. We use strong gravitational lensing, where light from a background galaxy is gravitationally deflected by a foreground galaxy, as a representative rare-event setting. We evaluate model performance on zero-shot imputation of gravitational lenses and on downstream scientific tasks using the imputed lens observations. On our constructed evaluation set of galaxy-galaxy strong lenses, performance degrades under rare-event distribution shift, and this degradation further propagates to the downstream lens-detection task. DiabAgent: Toward Agentic Physiological Control

Chengxi Li, Shaoxuan Li, Deyao Hong, Qingle Liu, Yi Huang, Puheng Bian, Minzhi Xu, Lanyue Zhang 等 16 位作者

As pretraining scales, medical language models have advanced rapidly in clinical question answering. Their ability to achieve effective physiological control through sustained intervention still lacks systematic quantitative evaluation. Type 1 diabetes provides a concrete setting: impaired insulin secretion creates dependence on exogenous insulin, with dosing continually adjusted using information about meals, exercise, illness, and glucose measurements. We introduce DiabAgent, a research suite for agentic physiological control comprising the Agentic Physiological Control (APC) framework, the DiabetSim simulator, and the SweetBench benchmark. APC controls glucose through medical-device tools, using ongoing observations to infer individual states, accumulate personal experience, and choose treatment actions. We build DiabetSim to simulate different patients, events, and device conditions for scalable virtual testing and training. Using DiabetSim, we construct SweetBench by instantiating 32 scenario designs as 212 glucose-control tasks. With Claude Opus 5.5 and a fixed decision interval of one hour, APC achieves a COGI of 73.5, compared with 71.2 for the open-source closed-loop baseline OpenAPS. Ablations further show that individual adaptation and contextual information improve glucose control. Combining high-frequency rule-based control with lower-frequency agent decisions shows potential for balancing control performance and computational cost. Our work provides a framework, simulator, and evaluation foundation for agents to participate in human physiological control.

MoSoLoco: Monocular 3D Human Localization through Visual Latent Features and Social Context

Yasamin Borhani, Javad Khoramdel, Yang Gao, Po-Chien Luan, Alexandre Alahi

Estimating the metric 3D position of people from a monocular camera is important for robot navigation and motion prediction. Lightweight pose-based localizers are attractive for robotic hardware with limited computational resources because they operate on compact 2D keypoints. However, they typically discard the richer visual representations computed by the pose estimator. We introduce MoSoLoco, a per-frame monocular 3D human localizer that combines the pose detector's internal visual features with the detected 2D skeleton, without requiring an additional RGB or depth encoder. MoSoLoco can further incorporate sparse same-frame multi-person context to refine individual position estimates. Experiments on JRDB and NuScenes show that reusing pose-detector representations improves localization, reducing the best JRDB error by approximately 23 percent relative to the strongest evaluated keypoint-based baseline. A sparse social-interaction module incorporates nearby detections from the same image for further refinement. Controlled trajectory-forecasting experiments show downstream benefits, while the complete pipeline remains suitable for efficient Jetson AGX Xavier inference.

ACTOR: Action-Centered Temporal Organization for Literary Role-Playing Agents

Yuxiang Gao, Tianjie Ju, Zheng Wu, Zongru Wu, Hao Fei

Large language agents for literary role-playing are typically modeled around dialogue generation, leaving characters' non-dialogue behaviors and their dynamic evolution over story time underrepresented. In this paper, we propose ACTOR (Action-Centered Temporal Organization for Literary Role-Playing Agents), an automated framework for constructing such behavior trajectories from raw novel texts. ACTOR extracts dialogue and persona-relevant non-dialogue behaviors, represents each behavior using a Thought-Action-Observation structure, and organizes behavior trajectories according to the internal temporal order of the story. We build a behavior dataset from 143 diverse literary works. For each source behavior, we generate counterfactual behaviors that are contextually plausible yet inconsistent with the character's persona. We find that existing models struggle to reliably infer character-consistent actions from historical behaviors and evolving character states. Using these behavior pairs, we train models with Regularized Preference Optimization (RPO), which augments DPO with a negative log-likelihood loss on the source behavior to jointly optimize behavior preference and generation. We further design a four-way next-behavior selection task to evaluate the model's ability to faithfully mimic character actions. Across 17,560 evaluation instances, the model trained on ACTOR's preference pairs achieves substantially improved accuracy. This result demonstrates that structured, temporally organized supervision enables models to leverage character profiles and prior behaviors to infer subsequent actions, greatly advancing literary role-playing beyond mere dialogue imitation. Code and data are available at https://github.com/SilentStar233/ACTOR.

CARE: Contrastive Representation Learning with Environment-Invariance Regularization for Behavioural Intention Prediction

Shang Gao, Zhixin Huang, Franz Götz-Hahn, Konrad Doll, Bernhard Sick

Trajectory-based behavioural intention prediction faces environmental variation, and representations learned with a pooled contrastive objective may retain environment-specific regularities. We present CARE, a self-supervised trajectory-learning framework that couples temporally asymmetric contrastive views with an invariant-risk-minimisation (IRM)-style gradient penalty on environment-wise contrastive risks. Each input window yields an anchor, a partially masked positive view, and a temporally perturbed negative view. Masked reconstruction and observability-aware evidence consistency complement this objective by promoting temporal information retention under partial input. On an IMPTC-derived four-class intention task, CARE achieves 0.840 accuracy and 0.023 expected calibration error (ECE) under IID fine-tuning, and 0.806 accuracy with a Brier score of 0.308 on the reported held-out environment. Under frozen-encoder linear probing, reconstruction provides the largest individual held-out accuracy gain, whereas the complete objective yields the lowest held-out ECE (0.049) among tested variants. These results support the combined objective as a competitive representation-learning approach under the evaluated shift, while the IRM-style regulariser is not taken as evidence of formal invariance.

OpenHLM: An Empirical Recipe for Whole-Body Humanoid Loco-Manipulation

Yingdong Hu, Haodong Zhu, Boyuan Zheng, Yihang Hu, Tong Zhang, Zunhao Chen, Junming Zhao, Ruiqian Nai 等 9 位作者

Whole-body humanoid loco-manipulation requires coordinating the robot's entire kinematic chain. However, most existing systems typically decouple the upper and lower bodies into separate controllers, limiting such coordination and yielding behaviors similar to those of a wheeled dual-arm platform. In this paper, we ask what it takes to build a whole-body native vision-language-action (VLA) model that maps language and pixels directly to all of the humanoid's degrees of freedom. We conduct a systematic empirical study organized as a roadmap of one-variable-at-a-time experiments across three phases: whole-body teleoperation, VLA model design, and heterogeneous co-training. Our study yields several intriguing findings: a joint-based whole-body teleoperation interface outperforms alternatives that only partially expose the humanoid's degrees of freedom; a VLA pretrained on static and wheeled dual-arm platforms transfers surprisingly well to a humanoid's full action space; and co-training with HuMI, the humanoid analog of UMI, extends the policy to new objects and instructions without additional whole-body teleoperation on those targets. Following this roadmap yields OpenHLM, an open-source recipe for whole-body humanoid loco-manipulation. In a challenging long-horizon task that spans a wide vertical range of the humanoid, OpenHLM outperforms two state-of-the-art humanoid VLA baselines (GR00T N1.6 and $Ψ_0$) using less than half the total demonstration time. Our code, training data, and model checkpoints are available at [https://openhlm-project.github.io/].

RecRSI: Mechanism-Guided Discovery of Recommendation Algorithms

Improving recommendation algorithms for the Web requires coordinating interacting design choices and learning from experiments. We present RecRSI, an LLM-based research framework that uses mechanism hypotheses to organize algorithm discovery. Each hypothesis links a proposed mechanism change to a reference design, a rationale, and an expected observation. MechSpace derives implementable primitives and composition rules from the task source; Research Line uses this space and prior evidence to develop and test hypotheses; Mechanism Feedback carries outcomes and their design context into subsequent research. This organization makes each experiment inform which mechanisms to develop, revise, or combine next. Across four initial recommenders and four datasets, RecRSI yields average relative improvements of 8.48% in NDCG@5 and 6.88% in HR@5 over the initial algorithms, and 2.60% and 2.20%, respectively, over the strongest competing result for each setting and metric. Component and process studies link these gains to coordinated mechanism choices and evidence-guided follow-up. Our code is publicly available at https://github.com/DynamisG210/RecRSI.

Generalized Flows over Time: Complexity, Structure and Algorithm

Siyuan Chen, Shengminjie Chen, Suixiang Gao, Zheyu Jiang, Dun Ma, Wenguo Yang

Generalized flows over time constitute a general network flow model that incorporates both transit times and flow losses or gains. We study their complexity, structure, and approximation. We prove that the generalized maximum flow over time problem remains NP-hard under standard binary encoding, even on lossy two-terminal series-parallel networks. The maximum temporally repeated restriction is APX-hard with general gains and NP-hard on lossy networks. We then consider the minimum source supply needed to satisfy a fixed sink demand within a given horizon, and prove that an optimal solution always exists without intermediate storage. On lossy networks, such a solution can additionally use only simple source--sink paths. These structural properties yield a fully polynomial-time approximation scheme via time condensation, with analogous schemes for generalized maximum flows over time and quickest flows with a source-supply budget.

LOGIV: Graph-Verified Execution with Causal Local Repair for Long-Horizon Robot Tasks

Enqiao Lu, Yuxiang Xie, Xingrui Yu, Yuyang Wang, Yipeng Gu, Zhirui Fang, Xinrun Xu, Zhenglin Wan 等 13 位作者

Agentic robots must turn a high-level goal into actions while keeping the physical conditions needed for future steps valid. A completed action does not ensure that its effects will persist: a later disturbance can invalidate support that the remaining plan still assumes. We present LOGIV, a graph engineering framework for agentic robot execution that uses an explicit task graph to connect symbolic planning, observation-based verification, and embodied action. LOGIV compiles a validated plan into condition-support and resource-ordering edges, checks their physical validity during execution, and uses dependency tracing to determine what must be restored after a failure. Repair is constrained by retained unfinished actions, and the combined continuation is symbolically validated before execution resumes. The framework operates above existing Vision-Language-Action (VLA) and World Action Model (WAM) policies without adding trainable components. Across 20 dual-arm tasks from RoboTwin V2 and BiCoord with three execution backbones, LOGIV improves mean task success without injected disturbances by 10.67 and 15.33 percentage points, respectively. Under predefined perturbations, it achieves higher task completion and condition restoration than three adapted recovery baselines for every backbone on both benchmarks. On three real-robot tasks, successful trials increase from 12/30 to 17/30. These results support explicit, continuously checked task dependencies as a practical interface for reliable agentic robot execution.

On the Reliability Limits of LLM-Based Multi-Agent Planning

Ruicheng Ao, Siyang Gao, David Simchi-Levi

LLM-based multi-agent planning delegates operational decisions to specialists that communicate through finite reports. In this research, we study its reliability limits when a coordinator can revisit source records before completing a resource-constrained plan. A useful report can support an immediate decision or direct later reading, so its value depends on how these stages communicate. We derive exact communication and access tradeoffs and prove that two report forms suffice for a broad class of allocation requirements, one favoring immediate resource identification and the other distinguishing absence from unnamed availability. For shared capacity, this reduction permits joint optimization of reporting roles and adaptive reads for a fixed number of source types with unequal workloads and reading costs. Identical specialists can optimally report different facts, and maximizing immediate completion can impose an unbounded recovery cost penalty even with full-record access. We also conduct numerical experiments to quantify the benefits of the proposed joint optimization and show how source access improves language-agent decisions that already use their reports optimally. In particular, an exhaustive evaluation of 207,632 report designs on small allocation instances recovers the predicted joint optima. Our analysis suggests that reliable agent communication should be evaluated by the complete decisions it supports and the cost of finishing its unresolved cases, instead of solely by report length, local prediction accuracy, or immediate task completion, as is often the case in current practice.

Rover-mounted robotic arms can extend human reach during lunar sample handling, but continuous joystick teleoperation requires repeated visual-motor alignment while operators may also need to monitor system states. This paper presents a gaze-assisted supervisory control framework in which gaze nominates a rock or placement target, explicit confirmation authorizes the action, and the robot performs bounded autonomous grasp-and-place execution. The framework was evaluated against manual joystick teleoperation in a mission-analog virtual reality study with 16 participants. The study used a 2 x 2 x 3 within-subject design varying control mode, placement difficulty, and concurrent monitoring load. Mean recorded task completion time decreased from 47.65 to 18.43 s per rock, with 72.5% of this difference arising during grasping. Under the tested auditory monitoring conditions, gaze-assisted supervisory control showed less average proportional slowing, with no detected control-mode difference in monitoring-response accuracy or speed. The rate of gaze shifts between core areas of interest decreased from 49.98 to 27.73 shifts/min, while the raw NASA Task Load Index score decreased from 32.54 to 18.26. However, the benefit was task dependent. In precision placement, manual control yielded lower mean placement error and a higher placement success rate. These findings support a mixed-initiative allocation in which gaze enables rapid task-level intention specification and autonomous execution, while precision-critical stages retain manual refinement.

Observability-Aligned Evidential Masked Pretraining for Reliable VRU Motion Prediction

Shang Gao, Franz Götz-Hahn, Konrad Doll, Bernhard Sick

Vulnerable road user (VRU) prediction must operate under partial observability and distribution shift, so reliable uncertainty matters alongside accuracy. Masked pretraining is attractive in this setting because it naturally exposes the model to missing content during self-supervision, but existing time-series masked autoencoding methods are typically deterministic and do not constrain how confidence should change with observability. We introduce eCoMAE, an evidential masked pretraining method for multivariate time series that explicitly aligns predictive evidence with what is observed. eCoMAE combines block-wise time-step masking with a Normal-Inverse-Gamma decoder and three observability-aware mechanisms: uncertainty-weighted mean consistency on positions visible in both a masked view and a reference pass, evidence suppression on masked positions, and representation consistency across stochastic masks. On IMPTC benchmark for VRU intention prediction under leave-one-environment-out weather shift, eCoMAE improves the strongest baseline from 0.7971 to 0.8068 in OOD accuracy and from 0.0718 to 0.0648 in OOD AURC. Additional evaluation on pedestrian trajectory forecasting across IMPTC, Waymo, nuScenes, and inD further yields the best fine-tuning MSE on all four datasets. These results show that observability-aligned evidential pretraining improves reliability under shift and remains effective beyond the primary benchmark.

Grounding Predictive Reliability through Masked Observability

Shang Gao, Bernhard Sick, Franz Götz-Hahn

An uncertainty estimate is meaningful only if its semantics can be tied to observable predictive behavior. Normal-Inverse-Gamma (NIG) evidential regression provides a structured decomposition of predictive variability into data-scale and predictive-mean components, but marginal likelihood does not identify their allocation. We address this semantic ambiguity in masked representation learning. MORSE (Masked Observability for Reliable Structured Encoding) predicts the same hidden target under controlled changes in visible context and uses normalized cross-context variation to ground predictive-mean uncertainty, while a Gaussian objective learns the conditional mean and data scale. The normalized variation plays the role of the NIG factor $1/ν$, which the marginal leaves unidentified; this yields a policy-relative observability variance that measures dependence on visible evidence, distinct from variation induced by resampling the training set. On a Gaussian-process benchmark with a contextual reference built from analytic Bayes conditional means, MORSE has the lowest log-variance error among compared evidential, ensemble, and dropout estimators in all nine tested settings, while the estimator closest to training-set variation perturbs the model rather than its context in every setting, so the two references separate the estimators empirically. MORSE amortizes observability estimation into one forward pass per observation state. On a heteroscedastic pulse benchmark, its predictor's cross-context variance approaches a large-sample reference as training data increase. MORSE also improves low-label transfer on PTB-XL and in-distribution trajectory prediction on IMPTC.

Safe Multi-Objective Reinforcement Learning: Zero Constraint Violation and Primal-Averaging Convergence

Chenxi Li, Yao Shu, Siyang Gao, Shuang Qiu, Guangxin Jiang

Many applications of multi-objective reinforcement learning (MORL) require policies that balance conflicting objectives while satisfying safety constraints. We study safe MORL with zero constraint violation throughout learning, covering both cumulative and stepwise constraints. A key challenge is to explore sufficiently under unknown dynamics and constraint costs without violating the constraints. For a given preference over objectives, we develop an algorithm to learn a safe Pareto optimal policy by combining optimistic reward estimates with pessimistic cost bounds. With high probability, every policy executed over $T$ episodes incurs zero constraint violation. The algorithm returns a safe Markov policy induced by the averaged occupancy measure and achieves an $\widetilde{O}(1/\sqrt{T})$ suboptimality gap under smooth Tchebycheff scalarization. We further develop a preference-free algorithm that first explores safely without a prespecified preference and then computes a safe policy for any given preference without further interaction. Over $T$ exploration episodes and $K$ planning iterations, it retains the same safety guarantee and achieves an $\widetilde{O}(1/\sqrt{T}+1/\sqrt{K})$ suboptimality gap. Both algorithms require knowledge of a policy that strictly satisfies the constraints and its costs. We then relax these requirements, incurring at most constant cumulative violation. To our knowledge, we provide the first sample-efficient MORL algorithms that guarantee safety for every executed policy.

The View from Nowhere: Population-Centered Agent Evolution

Shuo Yan, Ningning Hou, Haoyu He, Haochen Pei, Shang Gao

Self-improving AI systems can revise the designs that govern their own behavior. Yet existing approaches center improvement on selected parent agents and their evolutionary experience, leaving the broader population largely underused. We identify a substantial gap between population coverage (i.e., the tasks solved by at least one evolved variant) and the performance of the best individual agent. This gap shows that useful capabilities and diagnostic evidence emerge across the population without being consolidated into its leading agents. These observations motivate the view from nowhere, a principle for agent evolution: an agent should be improved by interpreting its behavior through population-wide patterns of success, failure, and prior self-modification. We instantiate this principle as Population-Centered Evolution (PCE). PCE distils task records and modification histories from the population into a population block, which captures recurring failures, complementary successes, and the effects of previously attempted modifications to guide improvements to a selected parent's harness. Under matched models, initial harnesses, and evolution schedules, PCE achieves 72.1% success on SWE-bench Verified and 96.7% on Polyglot, improving over a strong group-evolution baseline by 3.2 and 5.9 percentage points. In our evaluation, PCE reduces the gap between population coverage and best-agent performance by one-third on SWE-bench and closes it on Polyglot. These results suggest that treating the population as evidence, not merely as candidates for selection, provides a complementary principle for agent evolution.

Executable Schema Contracts: From Automatic Ingestion to Multi-Source Retrieval

Padmaja Jonnalagedda, Yuguang Yao, Xiang Gao, Hilaf Hasson, Kamalika Das

Real-world data spans tables, documents, and semi-structured files with implicit semantics. Querying this data requires integrating evidence across inconsistent schemas and formats, yet existing approaches either demand costly manual engineering or bypass structure entirely. We present a system that automatically discovers an executable schema from raw multi-source data and uses it as a shared contract for knowledge graph construction and query-time retrieval. A closed-world field catalog constrains LLM-based schema discovery to attested fields; deterministic structural analysis infers identity keys, foreign keys, and source hierarchy; and the resulting schema drives extraction, deduplication, and cross-source linking into a provenance-aware knowledge graph. At query time the schema -- optionally extended via a monotonic protocol -- conditions a multi-tool agent routing retrieval across structured lookup, graph traversal, and vector search, returning grounded answers with traceable citations. In controlled zero-shot comparisons using the same LLM, data, and evaluation harness, the system improves over retrieval-only and decomposition-based baselines across four QA benchmarks, with ablations showing that schema-conditioned routing, structural intelligence, and schema-guided construction each contribute to the gains.

RoSAMDepth: Robust Self-supervised Depth Estimation Leveraging Segment Anything Model

Xuanang Gao, Zhiwei Ning, Gengming Zhang, Jiaxi Cao, Runze Yang, Zhonglong Zheng, Jie Yang, Rong Xiao 等 9 位作者

Robust depth estimation aims to maintain high-quality depths across diverse conditions. However, most existing methods estimate depth without taking into account the object-level information. As a result, the predicted depth may easily deviate within objects and become blurred under adverse conditions. To overcome this weakness, we propose RoSAMDepth, a novel framework that can assist robust self-supervised depth estimation in leveraging rich and diverse object-level priors from the Segment Anything Model (SAM). We focus on incorporating object-level information across three key aspects: a segment-guided representation contrasting method that injects object-level awareness into the feature representation space; an adaptive regional outlier masking strategy combined with a regional Gaussian likelihood loss that enforces regional depth smoothness; and an object-level reliability estimation strategy that mitigates the influence of unreliable supervision. Extensive experiments across multiple datasets and diverse weather conditions demonstrate that our method produces sharper, more accurate depth predictions, consistently outperforming state-of-the-art methods. Our code is available at https://github.com/xagao/RoSAMDepth.

Session-Bound Behavioral Watermarking for Autonomous LLM Agents

Md Facklasur Rahaman, Yong Xiang, Md Palash Uddin, Shang Gao, Guang Hua, Leo Yu Zhang

Large Language Model (LLM) agents are increasingly acting through Web interfaces and external tools. They produce trajectories. Those trajectories may pass through several intermediaries. They can store, modify, or dispute those trajectories. In Web-based agent deployments, trajectories may pass through APIs, marketplaces, and tool servers. As such, a copied or disputed log may not by itself reveal which agent owner produced it. Behavioral watermarking can embed ownership evidence in agent action choices. However, existing methods mainly address detection, removal, rewriting, or imitation. They do not directly test whether repeated observation of watermarked trajectories enables cross-session forgery by exploiting learned action preferences. We formulate this learned-forgery threat and propose AgentAnchor, a session-keyed behavioral watermark for owner attribution from trajectory logs. We derive each step key from a secret key, a fresh public session identifier, and semantic states of recent observations, while a guarded digest of the action-policy state diversifies linear coding rows. It embeds parity evidence through a KL-bounded exponential tilt, and a trusted verifier checks a disputed log without rerunning the agent, using wrong-key calibration and abstention.

GAWM: A Compact Latent World-Action Model for Multi-Task Robot Manipulation

Yang Liu, Xiaoli Liu, Liuzhao Li, Yuduo Song, Muyuan Liu, Xiang Gao

World-action models (WAMs) incorporate the prediction of future observations into robot policy learning. However, most WAMs build on billion-parameter vision-language or video-generation backbones, which incur high training cost and inference latency. In this letter, we present GAWM (Geometry-Aware World Model), a compact multi-task WAM that predicts future observations in the latent space of a frozen DINOv3 encoder. GAWM compresses the features of each camera view into a small set of tokens. A lightweight predictor, conditioned on the task rather than on actions, forecasts these tokens at two future horizons. The forecast is supervised with the dense patch features of future frames, which requires it to encode the spatial layout of the future scene. An action decoder directly regresses a chunk of future actions from the current and predicted tokens. With fewer than 100M parameters and no robot or video pretraining, GAWM outperforms billion-parameter WAMs on RoboTwin 2.0 and performs comparably to billion-parameter VLAs on LIBERO. On a dual-arm robot, it achieves lower action-prediction error on held-out demonstrations than a fine-tuned billion-parameter VLA, with substantially lower inference latency. Ablation studies show that the latent world model substantially improves performance when training data or training time is limited. Code is available at https://github.com/gaoxiang12/ga-wm.

Despite the success of vision-based generalist robotic policies, existing tactile-based policies remain tied to fixed embodiments and sensor setups. This is because tactile signals are highly heterogeneous across hardware, making cross-sensor generalization difficult. We present FTP-1,the first generalist foundation tactile policy pretrained to acquire transferable tactile manipulation abilities across diverse sensors and embodiments. FTP-1 supports varied tactile inputs, including image-, array-, and state-based signals, by using heterogeneous encoders to project them into unified morphology-aware latent tokens that are jointly modeled by a shared tactile Transformer expert. Pretrained on around 3,000 hours of tactile manipulation data aggregated from 26 data sources, spanning human and robot demonstrations across 21 sensors, FTP-1 learns tactile skills that transfer beyond the sensors seen during pretraining. Across downstream finetuning experiments spanning 5 hardware configurations, FTP-1 improves contact-rich manipulation on seen sensor setups by +17.2% and, surprisingly, transfers to two previously unseen tactile-sensor setups, achieving a +31% gain in success rate. FTP-1 establishes the first unified foundation baseline for tactile manipulation, providing future tactile policies with a shared model-level starting point.
