Cycle WAM: Coupling Action and Video through Cycle Consistency

Qinglin Yang, Jiepeng Wang, Yuxing Huang, Haibin Huang, Kai Xu, Chi Zhang, Ruizhen Hu, Xuelong Li

Recent advances in video modeling have driven substantial progress in world action models (WAMs). Existing approaches exploit pretrained video priors by decoding actions from latent representations or inferring them from generated videos. The underlying link is causal: robot actions produce changes in the scene, and video observations of these changes provide evidence for inferring the actions that produced them. However, existing training formulations do not by themselves ensure that actions and their predicted visual consequences are consistent, potentially limiting the use of pretrained capabilities. We treat video and action as paired modalities linked by this causal relationship and learn their correspondence through a unified training framework designed to better exploit pretrained video priors. Cycle WAM first augments video-action co-training with bidirectional conversion to reinforce cross-modal correspondence and recover forward and inverse dynamics. It then introduces a differentiable cycle-reconstruction objective to further couple the two mappings. The resulting model supports both forward and inverse dynamics, with the potential to improve performance through more effective use of pretrained video priors. Cycle WAM achieves state-of-the-art performance among comparable methods on LIBERO-Pro and substantially improves DreamZero on DROID. Comparisons with UWM characterize its inverse-dynamics performance and show sharper visual detail in the displayed forward-dynamics predictions.

DynaFLIP: Rethinking Robotics Perception via Tri-Modal-Dynamics Guided Representation

Jusuk Lee, Seungjae Lee, Jonghun Shin, Hoseong Jung, Sungha Kim, Daesol Cho, H. Jin Kim, Jia-Bin Huang 等 9 位作者

Robot manipulation critically depends on perception that preserves the action-relevant aspects of a scene. Yet most robot learning pipelines are built upon visual encoders pre-trained for static recognition or vision-language alignment, leaving motion understanding to downstream policies. We introduce DynaFLIP, a dynamics-aware multimodal pre-training framework that pushes motion understanding upstream into perception. We construct image-language-3D flow triplets from heterogeneous human and robot videos, and use these triplets as training-time supervision to shape an image-only encoder. Our key idea is to encourage the three modalities to span a small simplex volume in the shared hyperspherical space -- a smaller simplex volume indicating stronger alignment. To avoid the geometric ambiguity and trivial collapse of naive volume minimization, we combine simplex-volume minimization with a cosine regularizer and a contrastive objective. Our analyses show that DynaFLIP focuses on control-relevant regions critical for manipulation. The resulting dynamics-aware representations serve as reusable visual backbones and consistently outperform baselines across diverse downstream policies, including VLAs. We validate this across diverse simulation and real-world setups, with gains reaching +22.5% under out-of-distribution scenarios. Our results suggest that robot generalization improves when visual representations are trained to encode not just what is present, but how the world changes under action.

BiCAA: Bidirectional Credit Assignment for Search-Augmented Agent

Yibin Huang, Bin Xu, Hailong Cao, Conghui Zhu

By iteratively retrieving and integrating external evidence, multi-step search enables search-augmented agents to tackle complex question answering. However, vanilla GRPO assigns rewards based solely on final answers, providing limited guidance for intermediate search steps. To provide fine-grained process feedback, we evaluate the value of each search step: it should acquire evidence that advances problem solving while avoiding redundant retrieval. Building on these complementary criteria, we introduce BiCAA, which combines Forward Solvability Gain (FSG) and Subsequent Reasoning Gain (SRG) for bidirectional credit assignment. To reward progress in evidence acquisition, FSG quantifies changes in ground-truth answer likelihood after each interaction. SRG compares the subsequent action's likelihood with and without the current interaction to approximately measure its support for subsequent reasoning, using this support as a proxy signal for non-redundant search to encourage effective and efficient search. BiCAA calibrates local feedback through asymmetric fusion; for policy optimization, it integrates accumulated process rewards with terminal outcome supervision. Across seven open-domain QA benchmarks and two Qwen backbones, experiments show improvements in average F1, particularly on multi-hop tasks.

PhysOmni: Physics-Grounded Multi-Object Scene Generation from a Single Image with Real-Time Interaction

Xin Zhang, Yabo Chen, Yijie Fang, Wanying Qu, Haibin Huang, Chi Zhang, Feng Xu, Xuelong Li

Recent generative video models achieve impressive visual quality but remain constrained by limited physical consistency and controllability. Existing video generation methods provide minimal physical control, and single-image-to-3D conversion approaches often suffer from object interpenetration. Furthermore, physics-based scene-level 3D generation methods exhibit spatial misalignment, stylized artifacts, and inconsistencies with the input data, restricting their use in realistic interactive video synthesis. We propose PhysOmni, a training-free framework that converts a single image into a physically consistent and controllable video through holistic scene-level 3D reconstruction. By rep?resenting the full scene geometry in a unified spatial coordinate system, PhysOmni resolves object penetration and alignment ambiguity. Unlike prior methods, this formulation enables accurate scene?level multi-object interactions and introduces richer, complex control types for advanced mechanics?based manipulation. By decoupling simulation from rendering, PhysOmni bypasses latency-heavy priors, achieving real-time physical interaction previews paired while preserving photorealistic visual fidelity. Experimental results demonstrate that PhysOmni substantially outperforms prior methods in physical fidelity, spatial coherence, and controllability. EviCast: Forecasting Retrieval Gains Through Shared Response Calibration

Yibo Wang, Jisheng Dang, Bimei Wang, Jiongpei Hou, Jingwen Zhao, Wenjun Ma, Fei Shen, Juncheng Li 等 12 位作者

Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) extends large language models with external evidence, yet relevant evidence does not ensure that a generator can use it. Indiscriminate retrieval can degrade task performance while adding retrieval and long-context inference costs. Existing methods neither determine before large-scale execution whether a generator, task distribution, and retriever configuration is worth deploying nor diagnose multiple candidate retrievers under a shared budget. We introduce EviCast, a framework that forecasts retrieval value through interventional evidence-state decomposition. EviCast measures a generator's response to controlled evidence states once and combines this shared profile with the offline evidence-state distribution of each candidate retriever, yielding the end-to-end net utility and its 95% lower confidence bound without executing every RAG configuration. A state-refinement analysis characterizes when its binary and topology-aware instantiations are exact and when shared calibration is statistically more efficient than per-retriever calibration. In frozen evaluations, EviCast correctly decides all 14 HotpotQA retrieval configurations with a forecast error of 2.75 F1 points while reducing diagnostic generation calls by 80%, and it attains the lowest forecast error among seven predictors in the low-budget regime. Its topology-aware instantiation, EviCast-T, captures the complementarity between terminal and bridge evidence, correctly deciding all 16 configurations on MuSiQue and HotpotQA and 23 of 24 after prospective transfer to a third dataset. These results show that retrieval deployment depends on both evidence availability and the generator's ability to convert evidence structure into stable net utility. Code is available at https://github.com/YiboWang2002/EviCast.

EarlySelectKV: Anticipatory KV Selection via Cross-Layer Query Proxies

Yuhao Liu, Yuehao Li, Linghe Zhang, Gaobin Huang, Junran Li, Hongchang Wang, Haifang Jian

Query-conditioned sparse KV selection reduces long-context inference cost by attending to a subset of historical KV entries at each decoding step. Existing selectors must wait for the target-layer query before scoring candidates and generating indices, placing routing on the immediate pre-attention path. We introduce EarlySelectKV, a training-free transformation that uses proxy queries from earlier hidden states to precompute selected KV indices while retaining the real target-layer query for final attention. Tests with RocketKV, Quest, and Loki show no consistent pattern of quality degradation across the evaluated settings. In the primary RocketKV evaluation, ES-RocketKV differs by +0.018 points on LongBench, approximately -0.01 points on RULER, and +0.25 percentage points on representative NIAH/Passkey settings. In a TensorRT-LLM deployment with CPU-offloaded routing, ES-RocketKV improves end-to-end output throughput by up to 12.4% and reduces GPU-resident memory by 11.1% of the combined KV/K-summary pool. This makes routing timing an explicit optimization target alongside KV subset selection in sparse long-context decoding. Code is available at https://github.com/sea-with-sakura/EarlySelectKV.

TopoDPO: Dense Preference Alignment for Structure-Sensitive Aerial Referring Segmentation

Huaiyuan Peng, Jisheng Dang, Wencan Zhang, Jingwen Zhao, Hong Peng, Wenjun Ma, Bin Hu, Qi Tian 等 9 位作者

Preference optimization for multimodal segmentation faces a granularity mismatch: dense masks contain spatially heterogeneous preference signals, whereas image-level objectives assign one shared nonlinear weight to all spatial margins. We introduce TopoDPO, a topology-aware dense preference alignment framework for structure-sensitive aerial referring segmentation. Topo-Prior mines informative preference pairs using connected-component discrepancy and macro-corner recall, while the dense objective applies the preference penalty to each local margin before spatial aggregation against a frozen supervised reference. On Topo-RS-Hard, a 4590-instance structural stress set, TopoDPO improves intersection over union (IoU) from 50.91% to 51.24% over image-level direct preference optimization (DPO) and reduces Betti-0 error from 1.34 to 0.90; paired image-cluster bootstrap intervals against image-level DPO exclude zero for all five reported metrics. Matched supervised controls and a complete factorial analysis separate the effects of topology-aware pair mining, localized correction, and dense reference-relative preference weighting. An unfiltered stratification over all 39,244 validation records further shows the clearest structural gains on samples with moderate or severe pre-alignment component-count errors. The code is publicly available at: https://github.com/phy709/TopoDPO.

FutureWorld: A Plug-and-Play Causal Next-State Predictor for Interactive Video World Exploration

Guangyuan Li, Kelu Yao, Shuolin Xu, Xinlei Yu, Wei Xing, Lei Zhao, Peng-Tao Jiang, Xiaogang Xu 等 9 位作者

Interactive video world models aim to follow user actions while maintaining scene consistency over extended interactions. History-based methods reuse generated latents to preserve scene content, but three limitations of this reuse contribute to error recirculation. 1) The latent generated at each interaction is retained as history, potentially containing blurred details, geometric distortions, or semantic drift. 2) Although retrieved historical content matches the current scene, it can still contain errors that are carried into the next chunk. 3) New outputs then become history for later interactions, potentially reinforcing the same errors through repeated reuse. To limit this cycle, we aim to predict the future scene state from the current generated latent and the next action before generating the next interaction's video chunk. This future-state prior provides guidance for the next chunk, with the aim of reducing the errors carried forward from history. To this end, we propose a plug-and-play Causal Next-Chunk Predictor (C-NCP) with cross-model adaptability and prediction-guided modulation. We integrate C-NCP into four base generators and evaluate the augmented models across three benchmarks for interactive long-video generation and action-conditioned world modeling. Extensive experiments demonstrate reduced error accumulation and improved long-horizon consistency across diverse generation settings. UniWorld: A Unified World Model for Real-Time Visual World Simulation

Xin Zhang, Yabo Chen, Shuaiwei Wang, Zixuan Duan, Haibin Huang, Feng Xu, Xuelong Li

Continuous visual world simulation requires coupling evolving scene geometry with temporally persistent appearance. We present UniWorld, a unified framework that integrates depth trajectories and reference appearance within a shared video generation model. The central design maintains visual and geometric histories on a common timeline. Noise-aligned overlapping continuation places generated history at the prescribed sampling noise level and commits only newly generated latents. Rolling depth latent state preserves the corresponding geometric controls, incrementally reads newly available geometry, and keeps the conditioning fixed within each sampling window. Together, these mechanisms ensure exact preservation of latent history while bounding the active depth state by the window size. We evaluate continuous generation, paired history interventions, and long-horizon behavior across diverse scene categories. The same generator supports estimated, native, and on-demand simulator depth, while cached and incremental execution paths produce bitwise-identical outputs. Appearance changes and geometric control branches operate through the same interface without modifying committed history. The measured steady-state DiT execution path achieves real-time generation throughput, demonstrating the efficiency of UniWorld for continuous visual world simulation. ReferStream: Interactive Subject Injection for Streaming Video Generation

Shuolin Xu, Guanyuan Li, Boyu Li, Kelu Yao, Xiaogang Xu, Hongchuan Yu, Shuicheng Yan, Xiaobin Hu

Injecting new subjects naturally during streaming video generation requires integrating newly supplied visual references into the existing video while preserving established subjects and the scene. Encoding references independently of the current scene provides little guidance for this integration, while keeping their features in persistent memory can interfere with established context. We propose ReferStream, a framework that requires no additional training and combines reference construction using the current scene with transient cache injection. Joint Latent places reference latents in target regions of the latest scene latent, allowing reference features to be extracted in context. Cache Restoration uses these features to condition the injection chunk, then restores the overwritten global cache entries while retaining the newly generated history. This procedure incorporates new visual conditions without retraining the generator or revising emitted frames. We further introduce ReferStream Bench, a new benchmark with scheduled reference arrivals, evolving instructions, and explicit annotations of subject presence for InShot and MultiShot generation. Evaluation follows the event schedule and measures both the fidelity of new subjects and the preservation of established subjects, alongside video quality, text adherence, and count accuracy. Experiments on ReferStream Bench show higher scores for text adherence, subject similarity, and count accuracy than the compared baselines, including offline methods given all references in advance. Rethinking Channel Estimation for Fluid Antenna Systems: A Physics-Informed Operator Learning

Zixin Wang, Lizhong Zheng, Yuanming Shi, Kaibin Huang, Khaled B. Letaief

Fluid antenna systems (FAS) leverage continuous reconfigurable apertures to transcend the spatial limits of fixed-position arrays, yet acquiring full-aperture channel state information (CSI) from sparse observations remains a formidable bottleneck. In this paper, we establish a continuous-field formulation for FAS by recasting channel estimation as a stochastic inverse field-reconstruction problem constrained by the projected Helmholtz model. Through electromagnetic information theory (EIT)-based spectral leakage analysis, we demonstrate that finite-aperture reconstruction induces an intrinsic convolutional relationship in the spectral domain, rendering the estimation task a fundamental frequency-domain inverse deconvolution problem. To solve this, we propose a U-shaped Fourier neural operator (UFNO) specifically tailored for noisy, underdetermined wireless environments. Furthermore, we leverage the Landau--Pollak theorem to derive an aperture-dependent EDoF bound that guides the spatial mode budget, and employ a physics-aware Sobolev loss to promote consistency in both channel values and spatial variations. Unlike conventional learning-based approaches, a single frozen UFNO can be directly evaluated at unseen spatial--frequency resolutions without resolution-specific retraining or explicit output interpolation. Extensive simulations show that our framework significantly outperforms state-of-the-art benchmarks in accuracy while achieving orders-of-magnitude lower inference latency than iterative solvers at high spatial--frequency resolutions.

WithinVAE: Compact Visual Autoencoding with Self-Distilled Semantics

Yuzhou Ji, Jiepeng Wang, Tianyu Jin, Lizhuang Ma, Haibin Huang, Chi Zhang, Xuelong Li

Visual autoencoders must balance reconstruction fidelity, compactness, and semantic structure. Existing semantic tokenizers typically inherit semantics from pretrained recognition encoders, whose invariances can discard the appearance detail required for inversion. We show that this inheritance is unnecessary: semantic structure can be learned inside an autoencoder's own reconstructive representation. We introduce WithinVAE, a compact variational visual autoencoder with a sequential bottleneck, DINO/iBOT-style self-distillation from an exponential-moving-average copy of the autoencoder itself, and position-dependent token masking to achieve a 4-fold compression ratio, which is free of pretrained representation encoder or external semantic target. On ImageNet-1K at $256\times256$, WithinVAE improves all four reported reconstruction metrics over RPiAE including PSNR by 1.36 dB, while using half its latent scalar capacity. Under frozen evaluation, the same latents improve linear probing by 6.5 points over RPiAE and 5.1 points over our reconstruction-only baseline, attributing the semantic gains to self-distillation rather than architecture or external supervision. An auxiliary latent-to-latent model reproduces the ordered-compression trend, and a pixel-to-latent model transfers the objective to a pretrained generative space. These results separate the origin of semantic supervision from its use: a compact visual autoencoder can organize semantic structure without borrowing a recognition representation.

CulturalRiddles: A Multicultural Benchmark of Riddles

My Chiffon Nguyen, Tianyi Hu, Vinod Anbalagan, Henry Gagnier, Pouya Sadeghi, Farah Abdou, Tidor-Vlad Pricope, Diego MMS Oliveira 等 164 位作者

As LLMs expand their language coverage, evaluating how well they understand and represent diverse cultures becomes increasingly important. However, many benchmarks remain English-centric, with limited cultural coverage and a focus on factual knowledge over its application in real-world cultural contexts. We propose CulturalRiddles, a benchmark of original, culturally grounded riddles created entirely by humans through a participatory community effort, spanning 62 cultures (45 countries, 51 languages). These riddles are deeply rooted in their respective cultures and require abductive and compositional reasoning, alongside detailed factual and social knowledge, language skills, and an understanding of culturally specific associations. We benchmark 28 LLM configurations using both automatic and large-scale human evaluation. Even frontier models achieve at most 22% accuracy in some communities. We publicly release all artifacts alongside an open contribution process to expand the benchmark's linguistic and cultural coverage.

ASPEN: Adaptive Semantic Reasoning via Command Persistence Prediction for Efficient Navigation VLAs

Vieri N. Akustia, Bin Hu

Navigation vision-language-action (VLA) policies repeatedly invoke costly semantic reasoning even when the next command remains unchanged. Command reuse can reduce computation but risks missing instruction-dependent turns or stops. We introduce ASPEN, an event-triggered scheduler based on command persistence prediction: estimating whether the frozen base policy would reissue its previous command. A lightweight multimodal predictor combines temporal observations, language instructions, execution history, and cached VLA confidence. At eligible command boundaries, sufficient predicted persistence permits command reuse. Otherwise, ASPEN triggers fresh semantic reasoning from the VLA. Evaluated with frozen NaVILA on cross-dataset RxR-CE val-unseen, ASPEN reduces VLA calls by 9.5% and estimated inference time by 8.1%, including scheduling overhead. It maintains comparable navigation performance and preserves identical baseline action sequences on 92.1% of episodes.

Generative Structure from Motion with Native 3D Diffusion

Haobin Duan, Binbin Huang, Mochu Xiang, Yiqun Zhao, Zibo Zhao, Yi Ma, Shenghua Gao

Recovering an object's 3D structure and camera motion from a few uncalibrated views is a fundamental problem in computer vision. Classical structure from motion methods recover 3D geometry consistent with the input images but cannot recover unseen regions; native generation methods produce plausible 3D objects which are related but not necessarily faithful to the input images. Methods simply concatenating reconstruction and generation allow error to cascade across the two stages, instead of producing a 3D object consistent with both the distribution and the input. We propose GenSfM, which integrates image-based 3D reconstruction with a native 3D diffusion model. In particular, we use a multi-modal diffusion transformer to jointly denoise the shape latent and per-view pose latents under shared self-attention, grounding generated geometry in the observed views while using object-level priors to infer unobserved regions. A compact 3D-native UV-volume tokenization keeps the joint sequence small as views are added, and a pose-aware stage refines geometry and texture by sampling per-voxel image features at the recovered camera poses. On Toys4k and GSO, for $4$ uncalibrated views, GenSfM improves novel-view PSNR by $3.2$-$4.5$ dB and reduces median Chamfer distance by $2.8$-$3.8\times$ over a strong native-3D generation baseline, while recovering input-view poses over $96\%$ Acc@$5^\circ$ without any external pose-estimation backbone, post-hoc optimization, or known intrinsics. UnityBench-Mini3D: Evaluating LLM Agents for 3D Game Development in Unity

Yijun Zhou, Minghao Shao, Ke Zhang, Renkai Yuan, Hongbo Yuan, Bin Hu, Bozhao Qian, Hongxia Shen 等 23 位作者

Game development stresses coding agents in ways general software engineering does not: correctness depends on how engine APIs, serialized scene state, and runtime behavior interact, not on source code alone. Existing benchmarks mainly target platforms such as Godot and heavily rely on LLM judges or coarse task-level outcomes. We present UnityBench-Mini3D, a benchmark of 77 project-level Unity tasks organized around seven expert-defined skill categories rather than tutorials or genres, with three difficulty tiers. Each task pairs a complete Unity project with natural-language requirements and is evaluated using 1,178 held-out, human-authored milestone tests covering scene structure, component configuration, and runtime behavior. This in-engine evaluation provides deterministic partial credit, localizes failures, and distinguishes partial implementations from complete solutions without relying on subjective judges. Across 21 models and 9 coding harnesses, the average pass rate reaches 80.9% on easy tasks but falls to 35.2% on hard tasks, with just 57.7% overall. UnityBench-Mini3D provides a reproducible, diagnostic testbed distinguishing systems across difficulty levels.

Beyond Trajectory Imitation: Strategy-Guided Policy Optimization for LLM Reasoning

Tianyuan Shi, Canbin Huang, Bei Li, Xin Chen, Xiaojun Quan, Jingang Wang, Qifan Wang

Distilling reasoning capabilities from strong to weak language models typically involves imitating specific solution trajectories, effectively transferring what to answer rather than how to reason. This trajectory-level imitation encourages memorization of instance-specific steps rather than acquisition of transferable problem-solving skills, limiting generalization to novel problems. We propose Strategy-Guided Policy Optimization (SGPO), which replaces instance-level trajectory imitation with reusable strategy distillation. SGPO extracts structured strategy descriptions from strong-model responses and, for each problem, constructs both autonomous and strategy-guided trajectories to enable direct comparison of the model's behavior with and without strategic guidance. The framework then addresses two key questions. For how to distill, a token-level forward-KL objective selectively transfers the distributional shift induced by strategy conditioning into the unguided policy, with proximal constraints ensuring stability. For when to distill, adaptive instance-level weighting strengthens guidance when autonomous exploration falls short and reduces it as the model's own competence grows. Experiments on four mathematical benchmarks across two model families show that SGPO consistently outperforms SFT, on-policy RL, and hybrid-policy baselines, improving the average score by 2.2 points over the strongest baseline on Qwen2.5-7B-Instruct. Analysis reveals that the forward-KL objective provides an inherently selective distillation signal that outperforms direct trajectory imitation, and that strategy distillation exhibits complementary scaling with base model capability.

PUPPET: Neural-Symbolic Standardized Patients for Mental Health

Chen Xu, Yu Ji Beijing Institute of Technology, Zhenyu Lyu, Yang Yi, Yizhe Yang, Luyao Ji, Chaoyi Chen, Xianyang Wang 等 15 位作者

The critical therapist shortage demands scalable training solutions. Standardized Patients, the gold standard, are scarce and costly. Current LLM-based approaches focus on patient simulation for conversational realism but lack pedagogical rigor as Virtual Standardized Patients, lacking faithful reactions to clinical errors and explainable feedback. To bridge this gap, we propose PUPPET, the first neural-symbolic Virtual Standardized Patient governed by an OBSERVE-THINK-BEHAVE architecture. PUPPET externalizes LLM reasoning into a symbolic system where experts implant causal associations between intervention logic (propositional logic) and patient mental states (state machine). This allows PUPPET to behave coherently with controllable and explainable psychological dynamics: intervention logic (OBSERVE) → state transition (THINK) → response (BEHAVE). Our PUPPET-TRAINER further leverages this chain to educate trainees about intervention consequences, standardizing and scaling mental health training. Experiments across three clinical scenarios confirm that PUPPET outperforms baselines in clinical faithfulness and pedagogical value.

EvoSpark: Endogenous Interactive Agent Societies for Unified Long-Horizon Narrative Evolution

Shiyu He, Minchi Kuang Tsinghua University, Mengxian Wang, Bin Hu, Tingxiang Gu

Realizing endogenous narrative evolution in LLM-based multi-agent systems is hindered by the inherent stochasticity of generative emergence. In particular, long-horizon simulations suffer from social memory stacking, where conflicting relational states accumulate without resolution, and narrative-spatial dissonance, where spatial logic detaches from the evolving plot. To bridge this gap, we propose EvoSpark, a framework specifically designed to sustain logically coherent long-horizon narratives within Endogenous Interactive Agent Societies. To ensure consistency, the Stratified Narrative Memory employs a Role Socio-Evolutionary Base as living cognition, dynamically metabolizing experiences to resolve historical conflicts. Complementarily, a Generative Mise-en-Scène mechanism enforces Role-Location-Plot alignment, synchronizing character presence with the narrative flow. Underpinning these is the Unified Narrative Operation Engine, which integrates an Emergent Character Grounding Protocol to transform stochastic sparking into persistent characters. This engine establishes a substrate that expands a minimal premise into an open-ended, evolving story world. Experiments demonstrate that EvoSpark significantly outperforms baselines across diverse paradigms, enabling the sustained generation of expressive and coherent narrative experiences.

ContextLens: Modeling Imperfect Privacy and Safety Context for Legal Compliance

Haoran Li, Yulin Chen National University of Singapore, Huihao Jing Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and MODEIO HOLDING COMPANY LIMITED, Wenbin Hu, Tsz Ho Li Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Chanhou Lou, Hong Ting Tsang, Sirui Han The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology 等 9 位作者

Individuals’ concerns about data privacy and AI safety are highly contextualized and extend beyond sensitive patterns. Addressing these issues requires reasoning about the context to identify and mitigate potential risks. Though researchers have widely explored using large language models (LLMs) as evaluators for contextualized safety and privacy assessments, these efforts typically assume the availability of complete and clear context, whereas real-world contexts tend to be ambiguous and incomplete. In this paper, we propose ContextLens, a semi-rule-based framework that leverages LLMs to ground the input context in the legal domain and explicitly identify both known and unknown factors for legal compliance. Instead of directly assessing safety outcomes, our ContextLens instructs LLMs to answer a set of crafted questions that span over applicability, general principles and detailed provisions to assess compliance with pre-defined priorities and rules. We conduct extensive experiments on existing compliance benchmarks that cover the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the EU AI Act. The results suggest that our ContextLens can significantly improve LLMs’ compliance assessment and surpass existing baselines without any training. Additionally, our ContextLens can further identify the ambiguous and missing factors.
