Towards a Trustworthy and Governable Internet of Agentics: An Architectural Perspective on Protocols, Systems, and Services

Haoyi Xiong, Yi Liu, Jiang Bian, Peng Diao, Bin Zhu, Tingting Hu, Yi Wang, Sumi Helal

原文摘要

Large language model applications are increasingly being organized as tool-using and multi-agent workflows rather than as isolated chat interfaces. This perspective paper examines the architectural problem that follows from that shift: agents may reason, invoke tools, and delegate work, but dependable deployment still requires interoperability across frameworks, runtimes, data boundaries, and organizational control domains. We study this problem through the lens of the \emph{Internet of Agentics} (IoA), an emerging service-computing view in which heterogeneous agents are treated as governable service participants rather than only as stand-alone model endpoints. The paper organizes the landscape as a three-layer progression: from today's fragmented agent ecosystem, to interoperable agents, and ultimately to trustworthy and governable autonomy. First, it examines the protocol stack centered on the Agentic AI Foundation, including MCP for agent--tool interaction; A2A for agent--agent coordination; AGENTS.md and Skills-style procedural manifests; and discovery, transport, and trust mechanisms such as AGNTCY and SLIM. Second, it reviews the systems abstractions that make agents deployable as service components, including logical agent architectures, orchestration patterns, gateways, registries, runtime control loops, and hardware-aware inference infrastructure. Third, it situates these developments within services computing, arguing that agentic systems reinterpret classical concerns from SOA and microservices---discovery, composition, governance, pricing, and trust---at the level of cognitive capabilities rather than deterministic functions.

Does System Size Matter in Uncertainty Quantification for Machine Learning Interatomic Potentials?

Chayaphol Lortaraprasert, Nontawat Charoenphakdee, Wenwen Li, Yong-Bin Zhuang, Yuta Tsuboi

原文摘要

Machine-learning interatomic potentials (MLIPs) commonly use uncertainty estimates to flag out-of-distribution (OOD) configurations and select structures for active learning. A key question is whether the resulting structure-level uncertainty scores remain comparable across different system sizes. A common practice is to aggregate per-atom uncertainties by their mean or maximum and compare the resulting score against a fixed threshold, implicitly assuming such comparability. We test this assumption across several in-distribution (ID)/OOD pairs by characterizing both aggregations as a function of atom count. The two aggregations exhibit distinct size dependencies. Mean aggregation remains size-independent for homogeneous systems but loses sensitivity to defects in large cells. In contrast, maximum aggregation grows with system size for ID systems while remaining approximately flat for defect-containing systems, narrowing the ID-OOD gap in a manner consistent with extreme-value statistics. Although highly uncertain atoms in large structures may indicate novel local environments, retraining on these structures yields little improvement, in contrast to retraining on OOD structures constructed to lie outside the training distribution. Our results reveal a practical limitation of size-unaware uncertainty criteria and motivate size-aware calibration for more reliable OOD detection in large-scale atomistic simulations.

OSCBench: Benchmarking Object State Change in Text-to-Video Generation

原文摘要

Text-to-video (T2V) generation models have made rapid progress in producing visually high-quality and temporally coherent videos. However, existing benchmarks primarily focus on perceptual quality, text–video alignment, or physical plausibility, leaving a critical aspect of action understanding largely unexplored: object state change (OSC) explicitly specified in the text prompt. OSC refers to the transformation of an object’s state induced by an action, such as peeling a potato or slicing a lemon. In this paper, we introduce OSCBench, a benchmark specifically designed to assess OSC performance in T2V models. OSCBench is constructed from instructional cooking data and systematically organizes action–object interactions into regular, novel, and compositional scenarios to probe both in-distribution performance and generalization. We evaluate six representative open-source and proprietary T2V models using both human user study and multimodal large language model (MLLM)–based automatic evaluation. Our results show that, despite strong performance on semantic and scene alignment, current T2V models consistently struggle with accurate and temporally consistent object state changes, especially in novel and compositional settings. These findings position OSC as a key bottleneck in text-to-video generation and establish OSCBench as a diagnostic benchmark for advancing state-aware video generation models. TROJail: Trajectory-Level Optimization for Multi-Turn Large Language Model Jailbreaks with Process Rewards

Xiqiao Xiong, Ouxiang Li, Zhuo Liu, Moxin Li, Wentao Shi, Fengbin Zhu, Qifan Wang Meta AI, Fuli Feng University of Science and Technology of China

原文摘要

Large language models have seen widespread adoption, yet they remain vulnerable to multi-turn jailbreak attacks, threatening their safe deployment. This has led to the task of training automated multi-turn attackers to probe model safety vulnerabilities. However, existing approaches typically rely on turn-level optimization, which is insufficient for learning long-term attack strategies. To bridge this gap, we formulate this task as a multi-turn reinforcement learning problem, directly optimizing the harmfulness of the final-turn response as the outcome reward. To address the sparse supervision of the outcome reward, we introduce TROJail, which employs two process rewards to evaluate the utility of intermediate prompts and integrate them into advantage estimation. These rewards (1) penalize overly harmful prompts that trigger the model’s refusal mechanism, and (2) encourage steering the semantic relevance of responses toward the targeted harmful content. Experimental results show improved attack success rates across multiple models and benchmarks, highlighting the effectiveness of our approach. The code is available at https://anonymous.4open.science/r/TROJail. Warning: This paper contains examples of harmful content.
