MemShift: Separating Detection from Repair in LLM-Derived Personal Memory

Zichuan Xu, Haochen Zhang, Yuyang Dong, Makoto Onizuka, Chuan Xiao

原文摘要

AI assistants store values that a language model derived from a person's records under the person's own definitions, such as their important contacts. Keeping such a value correct takes two steps: detection, noticing that an input changed, and repair, producing the correct new value. Benchmarks that score only the final answer cannot tell which step failed, and they state every change as new text. Seeing this limitation, we present MemShift, a benchmark of five shifts: source revision, deletion, redefinition, writer switch, and export. The first three fork a synthetic world into branches that differ only in the shift. Gold values and dependencies are fixed before any text, and a deterministic scorer replaces an LLM judge. For a memory that reports its invalidations, MemShift shows for each changed item whether the memory noticed the change and whether its repair was right. Moreover, we build a reference memory with known detection and repair to validate the measure. By evaluating four open-weight LLMs, we find that detection helps only as much as repair allows: the LLMs re-derive few values computed by the person's definitions correctly, and programs that the LLM writes over typed records close most of the gap to exact recomputation. POD-RoPE: Rotary Position Encoding over Physical Observation Distributions for Embodied AI

Xiaodi Huang, Zilin Wang, Jinpeng Liu, Pengchuan Xiao, Zhenlei Shao, Zhang Zhang

原文摘要

Embodied perception requires positional representations that capture both physical geometry and the spatial and temporal extent of observations. We introduce POD-RoPE (Physical Observation Distribution RoPE), which represents token observation footprints as distributions over camera centers, viewing directions, and sampling times. Under independent sampling, expected rotations encode relative relationships between distributions; when each distribution collapses to a single address, the construction recovers pointwise RoPE. The same rotation statistics support Q/K matching and coherence-dependent V/O transformations, allowing observation geometry to guide both information selection and content aggregation. Per-token pre-aggregation avoids increasing sequence length or processing pairs of observation nodes. We evaluate POD-RoPE across four robot policy architectures, simulation and real-world manipulation, and complementary reconstruction, depth-estimation, and novel-view-synthesis tasks. Integrating POD-RoPE into Fast-WAM improves mean success from 91.83% to 92.88% across all 50 RoboTwin 2.0 tasks, and from 32.5% to 52.5% on two real-robot tasks on Sharpa North. Controlled reconstruction ablations support the contributions of distribution encoding and V/O transformations. In H20 model-block benchmarks, POD-RoPE achieves median forward-plus-backward speedups of $1.91\times$ over P-RoPE and $5.34\times$ over RayRoPE, with a median latency overhead of 17.4% over Standard RoPE. These results support physical observation distributions as an effective and computationally efficient basis for geometry-aware attention.

Encounter-Driven City-Scale Human Mobility Generation with Large Language Models

Chao Li, Renhe Jiang, Chuan Xiao, Jiawei Wang

原文摘要

Large language models (LLMs) have shown strong potential for human mobility generation by modeling individual routines, activities, and mobility preferences. However, existing approaches remain largely resident-centric: generating realistic individual trajectories does not necessarily recover the encounters that emerge when multiple residents co-occur at the same place and time. To this end, we study encounter-aware human mobility generation, which jointly preserves individual mobility and population-level interaction structure. We propose EncounterMob, an encounter-driven LLM framework consisting of a coarse-to-fine Encounter Generator and an Iterative Coupling Framework. The Encounter Generator first captures city-level encounter rhythms and then instantiates participant-time-venue encounters, while the Iterative Coupling Framework coordinates these encounters with personal mobility behavior through successive refinement. We further introduce an encounter recovery protocol covering encounter marginal and joint distributions over residents, times, and venues. Experiments on the Japan and NYC datasets show that EncounterMob outperforms all external baselines on all seven encounter metrics and all six personal mobility metrics. Compared with ELLMob, it reduces the participant-time-venue joint error by 40.4%/41.7% and the mean personal mobility error by 58.8%/32.7% on Japan/NYC, respectively.

GRASPrune: Global Gating for Budgeted Structured Pruning of Large Language Models

原文摘要

Large language models (LLMs) are expensive to serve because dense FFN blocks, multi-head attention, and KV caches dominate memory, making structured pruning a natural way to reduce serving costs under tight parameter and memory budgets. We present GRASPrune, a global budgeted structured pruning framework applied post-hoc to a pretrained model that jointly prunes FFN channels and attention KV head groups under a single global parameter budget. GRASPrune attaches lightweight learnable gates to prunable units and optimizes only these gates on a small unlabeled language-modeling calibration set, keeping all backbone weights frozen while enforcing the target sparsity at every step. A final budget-preserving scaling calibration reweights the surviving channels and heads to correct scale shifts introduced by pruning. On LLaMA-2-7B, GRASPrune removes 50% of parameters and achieves 12.18 perplexity on WikiText-2 while maintaining competitive average zero-shot accuracy on five downstream benchmarks, using a short calibration run of four epochs on 512 unlabeled sequences on a single NVIDIA A100 80GB GPU, all without any full-model fine-tuning.
