HITCH: Teaching a Vision-Language Model to Operate a Humanoid through a Whole-Body Harness

Qingzhou Lu, Chenxin Liu, Xinming Wang, Liu Cao, Yanjiang Guo, Mengdi Xu, Jianyu Chen

Enabling vision-language models (VLMs) to control humanoid robots requires both reliable whole-body interfaces and knowledge of how to use the body that carries over across tasks. We present HITCH (Harness Interfaces To Command Humanoids), a harness in which perception returns the 3D position of any point the VLM selects in its image, and execution turns commands for the pelvis, torso, hands, walking, and gaze into whole-body motion with a learned tracker. We find that both measuring the scene and executing commands accurately raise task success. We then fine-tune a VLM on trajectories in which teacher policies solve five base tasks through HITCH, so that it learns how to operate the humanoid. Without task-specific trajectories, the fine-tuned model completes 51% of SIMPLE episodes and 42.5% of HumanoidArena episodes, and adding five trajectories per SIMPLE task raises its SIMPLE success to 95%. On a real G1, it carries a box and walks to a goal without real training data.

KV-PRM: Efficient Process Reward Modeling via KV-Cache Transfer for Multi-Agent Test-Time Scaling

Peng Kuang, Haibo Jin, Xiaoyu Han, Yanli Wang, Xiaopeng Yuan, Ye Yu, Kaidi Xu, Haohan Wang

Process Reward Models (PRMs) have been proven to be highly effective in guiding test-time scaling (TTS) methods, which significantly boost the capabilities of LLM-based multi-agent systems. However, existing PRMs are text-based: they re-encode the entire trajectory text from scratch. In long multi-agent rollouts, the scoring cost, growing quadratically with respect to sequence length L, creates a severe computational bottleneck, severely limiting PRMs' application in long-context scenarios. To resolve this, we introduce KV-PRM, a highly efficient process reward model that eliminates the heavy text re-encoding by directly reading the KV cache produced naturally during the LLM's generation phase. By processing a single "verify token" against the pre-existing KV cache, KV-PRM reduces the scoring cost from O(L^2) to O(L). We formally prove that the KV cache contains strictly greater information capacity than text, and is more efficient for downstream reward modeling. Empirically, across the MATH, GSM8K, and AIME benchmarks, KV-PRM matches or strictly outperforms text-PRMs under various TTS methods such as Beam Search, MCTS, and Weighted Voting, with up to a 5,000x reduction in scoring FLOPs, a 37x reduction in latency, and a 34x reduction in per-sequence memory footprint compared to text-based PRMs.

AI 速览:作者提出统一测试框架 uni-robot-agent,使开放权重模型可开展机器人使用智能体研究并支持后续训练,报告开箱即用的 Qwen3.8-Flash-Next 在 RoboDojo 上取得 31.39 分。

Robot-use Agents (RUAs) have shown promising zero-shot manipulation capabilities, but reliance on frontier, proprietary models limits research into further training. To democratize RUA research, we introduce uni-robot-agent, a unified harness for competitive open-weight robot use that supports further training. Without privileged inputs, an out-of-the-box Qwen3.8-Flash-Next achieves a RoboDojo Score of 31.39, surpassing the published GPT-6 Astra-RoboProbe result of 28.97 and many VLA/WAM baselines, and performs competitively on 19 real-world tasks. Our analysis across model generations, families, and sizes links effective robot use to four general capabilities, suggesting that future RUA training should develop them jointly.

HiLo-WAM: Decoupling Long-Horizon Task Evolution and Local Dynamics in World Action Models

Xingyu Wang, Yanjiang Guo, Zhijing Ding, Jiaxin Fang, Zeyu Lai, Jiayu Dong, Weikang Wan, Jianyu Chen 等 10 位作者

World Action Models (WAMs) improve robotic manipulation by jointly modeling visual dynamics and robot actions. However, most existing WAMs model dense short-horizon visual dynamics, capturing local interactions but providing limited long-range task context. Extending prediction horizons increases uncertainty and computation while entangling task-level evolution with fine-grained local dynamics, obscuring their dependencies and distinct roles in action generation. We propose HiLo-WAM, which decouples long-horizon task evolution from local visual dynamics while jointly modeling their interaction with robot actions. A sparse long-horizon visual stream captures historical task context and future evolution, while a dense local dynamics visual stream models short-horizon robot-object interactions. The two streams operate at different temporal scales within a unified dual-DiT architecture and guide actions through structured cross-stream attention. Progressive inference further reduces unnecessary computation through stream-wise partial denoising, joint denoising, and dynamic skipping. Experiments demonstrate strong long-horizon manipulation performance: HiLo-WAM achieves a 93.70% average success rate on RoboTwin 2.0 and a 17.43 progress score on RoboDojo long-horizon tasks, with robust in-domain and OOD performance on the Fourier GR-3 robot. Ablations confirm the complementary contributions of long-horizon task evolution and local interaction dynamics, while temporal-scale analyses highlight the importance of balancing temporal coverage and resolution. Progressive inference further achieves a 2.93x speedup while improving performance.

Modulating Merging Strengths via Joint Loss Estimation for LoRA-based Continual Learning

Kun Gu, De Cheng, Zhipeng Xu, Lingfeng He, Di Xu, Nannan Wang

Continual learning (CL) aims to adapt models to new tasks while preserving previously learned knowledge. Recently, Low-Rank Adaptation (LoRA), a representative Parameter-Efficient Fine-Tuning (PEFT) method, has gained increasing attention in CL due to its efficiency and scalability. Several LoRA-based merging methods maintain a single inference model by scaling the newly learned LoRA update with one coefficient and merging it into the previous weights after each task. However, they usually control the whole update with a shared scalar factor, although different update elements may affect previous and current tasks in different ways. To address this issue, we propose Merging Strength Modulation via Joint Loss Estimation (M2LE). It consists of Hessian Information-guided Adaptive Merging (HIM) and Task Simulation Perturbation for Merging (TSP). Instead of searching for a global merge coefficient, HIM directly solves for the target merged update under a joint objective over previous and current tasks. Solving this objective gives an analytic solution that naturally takes the form of element-wise modulation over the current task LoRA update. To improve the stability of the learned update under subsequent merging, we introduce TSP which simulates different tasks interference. Experiments on multiple benchmarks show that M2LE consistently outperforms existing PEFT-based continual learning methods. Code is available at https://github.com/bbdeeer/M2LE_NeurIPS2026.

SEEK: Skill Extraction with Evolving Knowledge against Frontier Science Agents

Cheng Gui, Xiang Zheng, Yutao Wu, Hanxun Huang, Yige Li, Kaidi Xu, Cong Wang, Wei-Ying Ma

Science agents increasingly package domain expertise as reusable skills that plan analyses, select tools, and execute workflows. This modularity creates a confidentiality risk: the interactions that deliver a skill's capability can also reveal the skill itself. We build an extensible benchmark of 40 protected skills across eight open- and closed-source science-agent platforms, comparing direct, fixed-strategy, and bandit-guided iterative probing under reference-based and reference-free evaluation. Leakage is pervasive: all eight platforms (100%) leak at least one protected skill, and four reach 100% attack success under a single direct request. To stress-test platforms that resist simple probing, we propose SEEK (Skill Extraction with Evolving Knowledge), a black-box, self-evolving red-teaming agent that consolidates response-derived evidence in persistent memory and evolves reusable attack skills, using only user-visible responses. On 12 skills from SpatialAgent and Biomni, SEEK achieves 100% attack success while reducing the mean first-success round by 31.8% and 38.2% relative to bandit-guided probing. Against a confidentiality policy that blocks all three benchmark protocols, SEEK still extracts one of six protected skills. These findings show that current science agents do not reliably protect their skills and that defenses must be evaluated against adaptive, multi-turn attackers.

LaoBench: A Large-Scale Multidimensional Lao Benchmark for Large Language Models

Jian Gao, Richeng Xuan Tencent, Zhaolu Kang, Dingshi Liao, Wenxin Huang, Zongmou Huang, Yangdi Xu, Bowen Qin Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence 等 12 位作者

The rapid advancement of large language models (LLMs) has not been matched by their evaluation in low-resource languages, especially Southeast Asian languages like Lao. To fill this gap, we introduce LaoBench, the first large-scale, high-quality, and multidimensional benchmark for assessing LLM language understanding and reasoning in Lao. LaoBench contains 17,000+ expert-curated samples across three dimensions: culturally grounded knowledge application, curriculum-aligned K12 education, and bilingual translation among Lao, Chinese, and English. It includes open-source and held-out subsets, where the held-out portion enables secure black-box evaluation via a controlled service to improve fairness and data security. We construct LaoBench with a hybrid pipeline that combines expert authoring with agent-assisted verification, ensuring linguistic accuracy, cultural relevance, and educational validity. We evaluate diverse state-of-the-art open-source and closed-source LLMs, and find that even strong multilingual models lag behind human experts, particularly in culturally grounded reasoning and translation fidelity. We hope LaoBench will catalyze research on Lao and other underrepresented Southeast Asian languages for more inclusive multilingual evaluation.

OctoBench: Benchmarking Scaffold-Aware Instruction Following in Repository-Grounded Agentic Coding

Deming Ding Large Language Model Algorithm Engineer, Shichun Liu, Enhui Yang, Jiahang Lin, Ziying Chen, Shihan Dou, Honglin Guo Fudan University, Weiyu Cheng Minimax Ai 等 15 位作者

Modern coding scaffolds turn LLMs into capable software agents, but their ability to follow scaffold-specified instructions remains under-examined, especially when constraints are heterogeneous and persist across interactions. To fill this gap, we introduce OctoBench, which benchmarks scaffold-aware instruction following in repository-grounded agentic coding. OctoBench includes 34 environments and 217 tasks instantiated under three scaffold types, and is paired with 7,098 objective checklist items. To disentangle solving the task from following the rules, we provide an automated observation-and-scoring toolkit that captures full trajectories and performs fine-grained checks. Experiments on eight representative models reveal a systematic gap between task-solving and scaffold-aware compliance, underscoring the need for training and evaluation that explicitly targets heterogeneous instruction following. We will release the benchmark to support reproducible benchmarking and to accelerate the development of more scaffold-aware coding agents.

IUQ: Interrogative Uncertainty Quantification for Long-Form Large Language Model Generation

Haozhi Fan, Jinhao Duan, Kaidi Xu City University of Hong Kong

Despite the rapid advancement of Large Language Models (LLMs), uncertainty quantification in LLM generation is a persistent challenge. Although recent approaches have achieved strong performance by restricting LLMs to produce short or constrained answer sets, many real-world applications require long-form and free-form text generation. A key difficulty in this setting is that LLMs often produce responses that are semantically coherent yet factually inaccurate, while the underlying semantics are multifaceted and the linguistic structure is complex. To tackle this challenge, this paper introduces Interrogative Uncertainty Quantification (IUQ), a novel framework that leverages inter-sample consistency and intra-sample faithfulness to quantify the uncertainty in long-form LLM outputs. By utilizing an interrogate-then-respond paradigm, our method provides reliable measures of claim-level uncertainty and the model’s faithfulness. Experimental results across diverse model families and model sizes demonstrate the superior performance of IUQ over two widely used long-form generation datasets.

Harnessing Negative Signals: Reinforcement Distillation from Teacher Data for LLM Reasoning

Shuyao Xu University of Virginia and National University of Singapore, Cheng Peng, Jiangxuan Long University of Hong Kong, Weidi Xu Infly Technology, Wei Chu Inf Tech, Yuan Qi Fudan University

Recent advances in model distillation show that data from advanced reasoning models can effectively train smaller student models. However, standard practices discard incorrect reasoning traces—valuable, yet underutilized data. This paper addresses the critical question: How can both positive and negative distilled reasoning traces be effectively leveraged to maximize LLM reasoning performance in an offline setting? We employ a two-stage training recipe: first, Supervised Fine-Tuning (SFT) on positive traces, followed by a refinement stage using both positive and negative traces. We find that a simple REINFORCE-style objective, which we term the Reinforcement Distillation (REDI) objective, outperforms established preference optimization methods like DPO and SimPO in this distillation context. Our empirical evaluations demonstrate the effectiveness of this approach. Notably, our Qwen-REDI-1.5B model, trained on just 131k traces from the open Open-R1 dataset, achieves an 83.1% score on MATH-500. Its performance matches that of DeepSeek-R1-Distill-Qwen-1.5B, a model trained on 800k proprietary data. This result showcases the remarkable data efficiency of utilizing previously discarded negative traces.
