A 3D foundation model unifying CT interpretation and segmentation

Yulu Xie, Zilong Li, Shen Xu, Yifan Bai, Liuhong Shi, Jiao Chen, Xianglei Kong, Wenchao Zhu 等 17 位作者

Radiologists interpret computed tomography (CT) scans by jointly determining what a finding represents and where it lies in three-dimensional (3D) anatomy. However, CT models have treated CT interpretation and 3D segmentation as separate tasks, leaving textual findings spatially unverifiable and overlooking potential synergy between clinical understanding and spatial perception. Here we present HoloCT, a generalist 3D foundation model unifying CT interpretation and voxel-level segmentation by jointly modelling whole-volume context and fine-grained anatomical detail, providing 3D masks as evidence. We curated HoloDATA, comprising 195,921 CT scans from 73 public datasets and six clinical cohorts, with 6.2 million instruction dialogues and 2.8 million CT-mask pairs. Across 346 tasks spanning segmentation, lesion screening, visual question answering, and report generation on 61 internal and 12 external datasets, HoloCT outperformed specialist and foundation models. In multicentre validation across 11,455 clinical CT scans from five hospitals, HoloCT outperformed competing models in lesion segmentation and report generation by 18.2 and 15.3 points. It also achieved 85.1% mean accuracy in screening thyroid tumours and colon lesions, exceeding all four participating radiologists in a retrospective reader study. Further analyses revealed bidirectional semantic-spatial synergy: language-guided segmentation delineated unseen anatomical structures and lesions as well as diffuse free-text findings, outperforming the leading approach by 22.1 points, whereas prompting the model to generate corresponding 3D masks alongside its textual outputs significantly improved interpretation performance. HoloCT shows that clinical understanding and spatial perception can be learned together within a single foundation model and offers a path towards more accurate and reliable CT analysis.

Beyond Risk Cues: A Mechanism-Level Benchmark and Verifiable Debate for Scam Video Detection on the Web

Yifan Wang, Junyu Lu, Shun Zhang, Chaozhuo Li, Fanliang Bu, Rong Yin, Lingbin Bu, Changrong Min 等 9 位作者

Online scam videos pose significant threats to individuals and society. Existing studies primarily focus on binary classification, offering limited insights into how scams work and the reasoning behind detection decisions. Moreover, they often overlook the challenge of distinguishing scam videos from superficially similar non-scam content, such as advertisements, and the robustness of detection models against misleading arguments. These limitations hinder reliable scam video detection. To address these limitations, we introduce MechScam, a benchmark comprising 6,614 videos covering diverse scam mechanisms and non-scam categories. MechScam provides explanations supported by video evidence, annotations of potential scam elements and their context, and misleading arguments constructed from genuine evidence. Recognizing that genuine evidence can still be used to justify misleading conclusions, we further propose ScamCourt, a debate framework in which trained prosecution and defense debaters present opposing arguments, while a trained judge makes decisions based on a transcript with verified citations. Extensive experiments show that state-of-the-art MLLMs struggle to distinguish scam videos from similar non-scam content. ScamCourt outperforms larger MLLMs and same-backbone fine-tuned baselines, reducing false positives and showing stronger resistance to misleading arguments. Together, MechScam and ScamCourt contribute to more reliable and interpretable scam video detection. The dataset and code are available at https://github.com/SuperYFan/MechScam.

Coding agents must deliver correct software while respecting users' expertise, preferences, and working conditions. Existing benchmarks increasingly incorporate interaction, yet personalized requirement fulfillment remains underexplored. We introduce PersonaCodeBench, which turns user characteristics into verifiable obligations in persona-driven multi-turn coding sessions. Our persona pool spans roles, technical abilities, interaction preferences, and practical constraints, yielding task-grounded evolved requirements for implementation, permissions, testing, explanation, and delivery. At runtime, a controller governs user simulator responses and requirement disclosure, using online requirement evaluation to provide feedback and advance the interaction. Requirements emerge progressively, with their content, disclosure conditions, and acceptance criteria fixed before evaluation. A completion verifier and a personalization verifier separately assess native correctness and persona fulfillment. Joint pass requires both adherence to the declared budget and compliance with validity conditions. We evaluate all major frontier agents, establish a comprehensive leaderboard, and conduct detailed experimental analyses to validate effectiveness. PersonaCodeBench supports reproducible evaluation of coding agents' ability to meet explicit, personalized user expectations alongside coding objectives.

Diffusion-DRF: Free, Rich, and Differentiable Reward for Video Diffusion Fine-Tuning

Yifan Wang, Yanyu Li, Gordon Guocheng Qian, Sergey Tulyakov, Yun Fu, Anil Kag

Video diffusion alignment has been heavily relied on scalar rewards. These rewards are typically derived from learned reward models in human preference datasets, requiring additional training and extensive collection. Moreover, scalar rewards provide coarse, global supervision, offering limited prompt-generation mismatch credit assignment and making models prone to reward exploitation and unstable optimization. We propose Diffusion-DRF, a free, rich, and differentiable reward framework for video diffusion fine-tuning. Diffusion-DRF employs a frozen, off-the-shelf Vision-Language Model (VLM) as the critic, eliminating the need for reward model training. Instead of relying on a single scalar reward, it decomposes each user prompt into multi-dimensional questions with freeform dense VQA explanation queries, yielding information-rich feedback. By direct differentiable optimization over this rich feedback, Diffusion-DRF achieves stable reward-based tuning without preference datasets collection. Diffusion-DRF achieves significant gains both quantitatively and qualitatively, outperforming state-of-the-art Flow-GRPO by 4.74% in overall performance on unseen VBench-2.0.

StatLUT: Statistical Feature-Driven Multimodal 3DLUT Generation for Photorealistic Style Transfer

Yifan Wang, Zhixiang Hao, Yu Wang, Congchao Zhu

Photorealistic Style Transfer (PST) aims to transfer the color and tonal style of a reference to a content image while strictly preserving its structural integrity. However, existing deep learning-based methods inherently suffer from semantic entanglement caused by pre-trained image encoders, leading to unnatural spatial distortions. Moreover, current pixel-level mapping paradigms often ignore color gamut topology, resulting in color banding, while also lacking the multimodal capability for precise, tone-specific text-driven control. To address these bottlenecks, we propose StatLUT, an innovative multimodal framework for 3D LUT generation. First, we bypass traditional encoders and introduce a Lab-Extractor to derive spatially-agnostic statistical features, fundamentally decoupling color distributions from structural semantics to ensure artifact-free rendering. Second, we formulate LUT generation as a Transformer-based Seq2Seq translation task, utilizing a Multi-dimensional Residual Mapper (MR-Mapper) to predict topologically smooth 3D LUTs. Finally, to break the unimodal barrier, we propose the H-Diffuser, a lightweight Diffusion Transformer that directly synthesizes statistical features from tone-descriptive text prompts, enabling controllable and robust color grading. Extensive experiments on standard benchmarks demonstrate that StatLUT significantly outperforms state-of-the-art methods in both visual quality and quantitative metrics, pioneering a highly robust and versatile paradigm for multimodal photorealistic style transfer.

StoreBench: A Live-Commerce Environment for Evaluating and Training Autonomous Operator Agents

Daksh Raghuvanshi, Ved Vedere, Yifan Wang

Reinforcement learning environments are now a primary lever for improving large language model (LLM) capabilities in post-training, yet most agentic benchmarks remain static: the world moves only when the agent acts, the reward is a terminal verdict, and the pass bar is set arbitrarily. We introduce StoreBench, a live-commerce environment in which an agent runs a mid-size online apparel store on a production-grade commerce backend, testing long-horizon planning and economic judgment under uncertainty. Customers order around the clock, suppliers reprice and fail, and market shocks arrive with partial or no warning. The agent acts through the same 29 merchant tools a human operator would use, under a windowed operation budget that makes simulated time a function of actions taken, so model latency cannot influence simulated time. Pass thresholds are calibrated against scripted anchor policies, the reward is hardened against a catalogue of reward hacks, and every episode replays identically given a sequence of actions. We evaluate seven frontier LLMs on 11 scenarios of 30 to 45 days and a full simulated year, over three world seeds at matched reasoning effort. No model matches the scripted smart-triage policy on average: the best, DeepSeek-V4-Pro, passes 49% of task-seed cells against the heuristic's 97%. Human experts working through the same tools and budgets outscore every model (mean composite 0.708 vs. 0.700). Over a full simulated year under the Claude Code harness, most models show dramatic performance improvement. In a GRPO post-training run, Qwen3.5-27B trained on only five disjoint tasks raises its mean composite on the held-out evaluation tasks from 0.136 to 0.373. We release five example training-split tasks, ten sample trajectories, and the scoring and verification tooling; the full environment and evaluation suite are withheld to keep the benchmark uncontaminated.

PersonaScienceBench: Evaluating Scientific Agents with Diverse Simulated Researchers

Siyang Wu, Weizhi Zhang, Chen Yang, Esther Xu Fei, Jorin Overwiening, Xu Pan, Jing Tang, Yixuan He 等 37 位作者

Scientific agents collaborate with researchers whose expertise and preferences differ, but benchmarks usually hold the collaborator fixed. We introduce PersonaScienceBench: 200 tasks from five benchmarks across four scientific domains. Simulated researchers provide context and feedback according to persona profiles, while task objectives and grading remain fixed. Agents encounter researcher preferences only through conversation. Across eighteen modelconfigurations, task performance, fact recovery, and self-repetition reveal different strengths. Detailed GPT 6 Astra analyses show distinct agent responses across researcher profiles; interaction traces illustrate targeted clar ification and workflow revision. These behaviors can differ even when final scores match. PersonaScienceBench therefore evaluates how agents collaborate with diverse researchers alongside whether they complete the task.

Federated Estimation of Loading Spaces in Tensor Factor Models under Differential Privacy

Zetai Cen, Fan Wang, Haeran Cho

Tensor factor models provide low-dimensional representations of tensor-valued observations while preserving their multiway structure. When these observations are held by different clients, privacy constraints may prevent them from being pooled for centralized analysis. We study estimation of common loading spaces in Tucker tensor factor models under federated differential privacy, allowing heterogeneous sample sizes, privacy budgets, and factor strengths. The proposed method combines private stability testing, Huber aggregation, and Gaussian perturbation at each client with weighted aggregation at the server. We establish non-asymptotic upper bounds governed by a scaled harmonic mean of the squared local error rates, and prove minimax optimality up to logarithmic factors under strong factors, fixed factor ranks, and fixed noise variance. We further develop a private calibration procedure that selects the local tuning parameters and aggregation weights without knowledge of the noise level or client-specific factor strengths. The resulting adaptive estimator preserves the privacy guarantee and attains the error rate obtained with oracle tuning. We illustrate the finite-sample performance of the proposed estimators through simulation experiments and an application to a Meditation Traits EEG dataset.

ClinFusion: A Vision-Centric Multimodal LLM System for Holistic Medical Understanding

Hangjie Yuan, Yichen Qian, Zhiwei Tang, Xianzhe Xu, Sicheng Yang, Lirong Wu, Jinwang Wang, Pengju Wang 等 24 位作者

Multimodal large language models (MLLMs) hold immense potential to revolutionize clinical practice, yet deploying them in the medical domain is fundamentally a vision-centric challenge: models must absorb knowledge from heterogeneous 2D and 3D medical images, and evaluation protocols must align with radiologists' clinical practice and provide an accurate, fine-grained and factualness-driven assessment. In this paper, we introduce ClinFusion, a vision-centric MLLM designed for holistic medical understanding that systematically addresses these limitations. We propose a compositional and cascaded vision encoder architecture featuring a Cascade Spatial-Aware Locality Fusion operator that unifies diverse 2D and native 3D medical image understanding within a fused encoder. We further introduce a vision-grounded evaluation framework, including MedIF-Bench for instruction-following assessment and a region-of-interest-grounded method for clinically aligned and factualness-driven report generation evaluation. We show that ClinFusion sets a new state-of-the-art across a comprehensive suite of 2D and 3D multimodal medical benchmarks---spanning visual question answering, report generation, and instruction following---as well as textual medical tasks, outperforming leading open-source medical MLLMs (\textit{e.g.}, Hulu-Med, Lingshu) on 20 out of 24 benchmarks and demonstrating multimodal capabilities better than powerful proprietary models such as GPT-5.2 and Gemini-3-Flash on 13 out of 16 benchmarks, and can be further augmented with agentic tool use for retrieval-augmented and tool-assisted clinical workflows. A blinded evaluation by board-certified radiologists confirms that ClinFusion produces the highest-ranked reports, and validates our RoI-grounded metric as achieving the strongest correlation with expert judgment among all automatic evaluation metrics examined.

MMCoT$^3$: Empowering 3D Scene Understanding with 3D-Text Interleaved Multi-Modal Chain-of-Thought Reasoning

Yongqi Shan, Yifan Wang, Yunzhi Zhuge, Lijun Wang, Huchuan Lu

Understanding and reasoning over 3D scenes from point clouds is essential for a broad range of AI applications. Recent 3D large language models have shown promising results, yet they still face two fundamental limitations: (i) insufficient capability for grounded multi-step reasoning in complex 3D scenes, and (ii) a text-centric inference paradigm that lacks effective interaction between textual reasoning and visual evidence. As a result, these models often fail to verify intermediate inferences, disambiguate similar object instances, and avoid hallucinations. To address these limitations, we propose MMCoT$^3$, the first 3D-Text Interleaved Chain-of-Thought (CoT) framework for 3D scene understanding. The core idea is to explicitly interleave textual reasoning with task-relevant 3D evidence, enabling the model to consult scene observations throughout the reasoning process. In addition, since a textual mention in 3D scenes may correspond to multiple candidate objects, naive object-mention alignment can inject incorrect evidence and mislead subsequent reasoning. To mitigate this multi-instance ambiguity, we design an ambiguity-aware evidence aggregation mechanism that uses query-guided cross-attention to fuse candidate object tokens and inject both evidence and ambiguity cues into the reasoning process. To better equip the model with multi-step reasoning capability, we further develop PointCoT, a large-scale 3D-specific CoT instruction tuning dataset with approximately 176.2K instances spanning captioning, question answering, dialogue, and planning tasks. Extensive experiments on six benchmarks show that our method consistently improves performance and achieves state-of-the-art results, validating the effectiveness of our proposed ambiguity-aware 3D-text interleaved reasoning for 3D scene understanding.

Reaction precedents extend retrosynthetic prediction beyond training coverage

Jiaxing Sun, Xuli Shen, Jiang Wu, Ruiyi Ding, Ruikang Zhang, Xiao An, Xibao Li, Yubin Wang 等 20 位作者

Reaction precedents guide retrosynthesis, but how far they can compensate for gaps in task-specific training coverage remains unclear. Using 2.71 million reactions, we restricted training and retrieval coverage by transformation or time, then expanded only the retrieval corpus with model parameters fixed. For transformations excluded from training, mean Top-1 accuracy increased from 13.0% to 58.0% on a historical test set and from 4.9% to 23.1% on a temporally held-out test set. For temporal coverage gaps, retrieval expansion enabled a model trained on records before 2017 to match or exceed a non-retrieval model trained on records before 2025 on both test sets. Without task-specific fine-tuning, precedents improved all 14 representative general-purpose models on both test sets and USPTO-50K; the strongest with precedents surpassed all eight representative specialized models. These findings show that inference-time reaction precedents can extend retrosynthetic prediction beyond task-specific training coverage without parameter updates.

SituHOI: Scalable Capture of Scene-Situated Full-Body Human-Object Interaction

Qifan Wang, Qihang Fang, Boao Shi, Yushi Du, Pei Zhou, Siyan Dong, Yanchao Yang

Modeling human-object interaction (HOI) in real environments requires jointly representing whole-body motion, manipulated objects, and scene geometry, yet existing datasets trade off scalable capture against structured, scene-aligned supervision. We introduce SituHOI, a large-scale RGB-D dataset containing 18,429 annotated clips across 16 indoor rooms and approximately 86 hours of quality-screened activity. It pairs recordings from a single moving RGB-D camera with static scene scans, object geometry, language descriptions, and estimated human and object trajectories. Using the scans as persistent references, our pipeline combines camera localization and depth-based metric alignment with human mesh recovery, object tracking, and temporal refinement to register all geometric annotations in a shared floor-aligned frame. These data support FlexHOI-Bench, a goal-conditioned joint motion prediction benchmark with variable observation and prediction durations. Given observed histories, scene and object geometry, and a terminal object pose, models predict future human and object motion. We provide SharedHOI as a reference predictor and evaluate world-space accuracy and human-object coordination. On a MoCap subset, our pipeline reduces human G-MPJPE from 195.4 to 68.3 mm and object translation error from 43.0 to 28.7 mm. SharedHOI leads four adapted baselines on all three aggregate FlexHOI-Bench metrics. Data will be released upon acceptance. Before the Next Rollout: Diagnosing Skill Utility Shifts from Policy Updates

Yifan Wang, Zhenyi Gai, Yiwen Zhao, Mingxuan Jiang, Keyang Chen, Zeping Li, Hongfeng Chai, Yixin Cao

Skill-evolution methods typically analyze execution trajectories to guide agent skill refinement. However, policy updates can change the behavioral effects and marginal utility of an unchanged skill. Attribution based on earlier trajectories may therefore no longer reflect the skill's contribution under the updated policy. Moreover, trajectory failures can arise from multiple factors, making individual skill contributions difficult to isolate. We evaluate whether policy-update signals contain predictive information about changes in skill marginal utility. At fixed contexts from pre-update training rollouts, we measure how policy updates change the contrast in token preferences between skill and control conditions. Combining these interaction shifts with advantage estimates yields reward-directed readouts for diagnosing utility changes. The readouts reuse existing training rollouts and require only forward passes for single-step action scoring, without additional post-update rollout evaluation. Our experiments show that policy updates can alter skill marginal utility and that policy-update readouts carry diagnostic information for identifying skills with declining utility. Integrating readout-guided prioritization into skill evolution improves downstream performance while reducing policy and editor token consumption.

The Anatomy of Socio-Demographics in Pluralistic Offensiveness Modeling: When and Where It Helps, and the Role of Reasoning

Yifan Wang, Leixin Zhang, Jinyi Mu, Yu Wang, Mayank Jobanputra, Isabel Valera, Vera Demberg

Subjective judgments such as offensiveness often vary substantially across individuals, motivating pluralistic modeling approaches that incorporate annotators' socio-demographic information to capture this variation. However, prior findings on the benefits of socio-demographic information for pluralistic modeling are mixed, calling for a systematic analysis of both its effectiveness and the mechanisms through which it improves prediction. In this work, we study $\textbf{when}$ and $\textbf{where}$ socio-demographics benefit pluralistic offensiveness modeling, as well as $\textbf{the role of explicit reasoning}$ in leveraging this information. Across three multi-annotator datasets with prompted and trained LLMs, we first show that demographic gains are small and inconsistent for individual predictions but become clearer at the group and population levels, because aggregation attenuates the idiosyncratic variation that masks small but systematic demographic signals. Second, using a reasoning and prediction format that explicitly decomposes individual judgment into an overall baseline and a demographic-specific deviation, we show that the gains arise from both components: demographic information improves baseline estimation and enables meaningful demographic-specific shifts, and interventions show that better component estimates improve final predictions. Finally, comparing direct demographic conditioning with explicit reasoning about how the text interacts with annotator demographics, we find that reasoning yields more accurate baseline and shift estimates as well as final predictions, whereas conditioning alone rarely produces informative shifts. These results suggest that the mixed evidence in prior work may partly stem from individual-level evaluation, and that the value of socio-demographic information depends on both how it is evaluated and how models are guided to use it.

Interpretability Is Not Just a Tax: Sparsity and Diversity Yield Legible and Composable Reward Experts for Personalization

Yifan Wang, Jinyi Mu, Mayank Jobanputra, Yu Wang, Ji-Ung Lee, Soyoung Oh, Isabel Valera, Vera Demberg

Preference modeling aims to capture heterogeneous human values and increasingly relies on learning latent components to represent this variation without fine-grained supervision. What these components actually represent, however, is rarely examined. We audit Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) reward models along three rungs---semantic coherence, functional correspondence, and composability---in controlled and real-world settings, holding the architecture and training data fixed so that differences isolate the effect of the training objective. Our diagnosis is that the components conventional MoE reward models learn are entangled, which limits not only interpretability but also the personalization such models are built for. The entanglement is not intrinsic to the architecture but a property of the training objective: off-the-shelf sparsity and diversity regularizers already substantially reduce it. The resulting configuration, which we call sparse MoE, recovers all underlying semantic categories without domain supervision in a controlled setting, reaching 84.8% expert purity against 60.8% for conventional MoE; on real-world data its experts admit human-interpretable task- and domain-level descriptions aligned with their functional strengths. Targeted interventions on routing weights produce predictable preference changes, showing that these interpretations are behaviorally grounded rather than merely descriptive. Crucially, the disentanglement induced by this objective also makes the experts composable: lightweight router updates yield a 25.81-point improvement in few-shot personalization with 50 examples, roughly 2.7 times the gain of the identical architecture and adaptation procedure applied to entangled experts. Together, these results show that MoE reward models can learn interpretable expert structure, and that the same structure can substantially improve personalization.

Texture Consolidation of Generated Multi-View Renderings

Hongyi Liu, Yifan Wang, Vladimir G. Kim, Misha Kazhdan

We present a system for consolidating a sparse set of multi-view renderings into a single coherent texture image, providing a framework for integrating generative models for image generation within the geometry-processing pipeline. Given a texture-atlased triangle mesh and a set of renderings with associated camera parameters, we generate the texture image by: (1) back-projecting the renderings onto the mesh to obtain texture images with normalized colors and confidences; (2) solving for flow-fields on the mesh that align the colors to each other, taking into account the associated confidences; and (3) fusing the registered colors into a single texture image using gradient-domain stitching, again incorporating confidences. Our approach complements existing techniques for multi-view image generation, leveraging mesh-based optical flow and texture-space stitching. In doing so it addresses the challenge that while modern image generation pipelines generate highly convincing renderings, they struggle to produce renderings that are consistent across views. Code is available at https://github.com/hliuw/TextureConsolidation.

Evaluating DeepSeek V4.1 Flash-1017 for loss of control and harmful manipulation risks

Yao Huang, Zhiyuan Zeng, Yu Wang, Zhitong Zhu, Dingcheng Duan, Hao Li, Shangzhi Xu, Yifan Wang 等 17 位作者

As frontier language models grow increasingly capable and autonomous, independent third-party evaluations are critical for characterizing their systemic safety risks. While closed-source releases are routinely accompanied by comprehensive system cards, open-weight models receive less scrutiny regarding frontier risks. To address this gap, we present an independent safety evaluation of DeepSeek V4.1 Flash-1017, the latest version of V4.1 Flash that departs from V4 with a new architecture, scaled-up training, and strong agentic capabilities. Drawing on the EU General-Purpose AI Code of Practice, we evaluate the model across 34 benchmarks, including 5 in-house suites, spanning evaluation integrity, loss of control, and harmful manipulation. Conforming to the AEF-1 standard, we compare V4.1 Flash-1017 against V4.1 Flash, earlier DeepSeek V4 models, and leading closed-source systems (GPT-6 Astra, GPT-5.6 Sol, and Gemini 3.8 Flash). Overall, V4.1 Flash-1017 shows substantial safety improvements over the V4 generation and approaches or matches leading closed-source baselines on several dimensions, while still exhibiting notable behaviors that warrant continued attention. Building on our findings, we highlight three key observations and recommendations. First, because safety can shift and even regress across minor updates, developers should integrate safety evaluation into incremental releases. Second, as final-turn outputs and end-state checks alone cannot reliably detect loss-of-control behaviors, deployments require process-level observability across both reasoning traces and action logs. Third, because public benchmarks elicit strong evaluation awareness and face data contamination risks, developing private benchmarks is essential for trustworthy frontier evaluation.

A Graph-informed Kriging model for sample-efficient Bayesian optimization of wind farm layouts

Zhen-Fan Wang, Kai Zhang, Xianping Du, Zhaolong Han, Dai Zhou, Onur Bilgen

Wind farm layout optimization becomes increasingly difficult as turbine count grows, especially when high-fidelity aerodynamic models are used. Conventional Kriging-based Bayesian optimization often suffers from low sample efficiency in high-dimensional layout spaces because sparse training data provide limited domain coverage. We develop a Graph-informed Kriging framework that embeds reusable aerodynamic interaction information into the surrogate mean function. The wind farm is represented as a directed aerodynamic graph, where pairwise turbine interactions defined in a low-dimensional relative-coordinate space are assembled into a farm-scale mean. This structured mean captures the dominant variation in annual energy production (AEP), allowing the Gaussian process to model only the residual structure and uncertainty. Numerical experiments show that Graph-informed Kriging consistently improves AEP prediction accuracy over ordinary and generic-trend Kriging under sparse-data conditions, with increasing benefits as layout dimension and wake-interaction strength grow. Embedded in Bayesian optimization, it substantially improves sample efficiency and achieves competitive solutions for the IEA Wind Task 37 benchmark with about 280 AEP evaluations. In a controlled 16-turbine case, it also outperforms ordinary and multi-fidelity Kriging under the same high-fidelity evaluation budget. The framework is further extended to a 48-turbine wind farm, demonstrating applicability to large-scale CFD-based layout optimization. These results show that Graph-informed surrogate modeling can enable more efficient use of high-fidelity aerodynamic models for reliable large-scale wind farm layout design.

Learning Universal Features for Generalizable Image Forgery Localization

Hengrun Zhao, Yunzhi Zhuge, Yifan Wang, Lijun Wang, Huchuan Lu, Yu Zeng

In recent years, advanced image editing and generation methods have rapidly evolved, making detecting and locating forged image content increasingly challenging. Most existing image forgery detection methods rely on identifying the edited traces left in the image. However, because the traces of different forgeries are distinct, these methods can identify familiar forgeries included in the training data but struggle to handle unseen ones. In response, we present an approach for Generalizable Image Forgery Localization (GIFL). Once trained, our model can detect both seen and unseen forgeries, providing a more practical and efficient solution to counter false information in the era of generative AI. Our method focuses on learning general features from the pristine content rather than traces of specific forgeries, which are relatively consistent across different types of forgeries and therefore can be used as universal features to locate unseen forgeries. Additionally, as existing image forgery datasets are still dominated by traditional hand-crafted forgeries, we construct a new dataset consisting of images edited by various popular deep generative image editing methods to further encourage research in detecting images manipulated by deep generative models. Extensive experimental results show that the proposed approach outperforms state-of-the-art methods in the detection of unseen forgeries and also demonstrates competitive results for seen forgeries. The code and dataset are available at https://github.com/ZhaoHengrun/GIFL.

Beyond Trajectory Imitation: Strategy-Guided Policy Optimization for LLM Reasoning

Tianyuan Shi, Canbin Huang, Bei Li, Xin Chen, Xiaojun Quan, Jingang Wang, Qifan Wang

Distilling reasoning capabilities from strong to weak language models typically involves imitating specific solution trajectories, effectively transferring what to answer rather than how to reason. This trajectory-level imitation encourages memorization of instance-specific steps rather than acquisition of transferable problem-solving skills, limiting generalization to novel problems. We propose Strategy-Guided Policy Optimization (SGPO), which replaces instance-level trajectory imitation with reusable strategy distillation. SGPO extracts structured strategy descriptions from strong-model responses and, for each problem, constructs both autonomous and strategy-guided trajectories to enable direct comparison of the model's behavior with and without strategic guidance. The framework then addresses two key questions. For how to distill, a token-level forward-KL objective selectively transfers the distributional shift induced by strategy conditioning into the unguided policy, with proximal constraints ensuring stability. For when to distill, adaptive instance-level weighting strengthens guidance when autonomous exploration falls short and reduces it as the model's own competence grows. Experiments on four mathematical benchmarks across two model families show that SGPO consistently outperforms SFT, on-policy RL, and hybrid-policy baselines, improving the average score by 2.2 points over the strongest baseline on Qwen2.5-7B-Instruct. Analysis reveals that the forward-KL objective provides an inherently selective distillation signal that outperforms direct trajectory imitation, and that strategy distillation exhibits complementary scaling with base model capability.

VibeGame: Prompt-to-Game Development with AI-Native Engine and Self-Evolving Adversarial Agent Team

Large language model agents have enabled software development through natural-language interaction, but extending this paradigm to end-to-end game development remains challenging. Building a playable game requires coordinating code, scenes, assets, animations, physics, and configurations, while allowing developers to validate their integrated behavior through interactive testing. We introduce VibeGame, a framework for creating complete 2D game projects from natural-language prompts and optional reference images. Its AI-native game engine represents project state as schema-validated structured text and provides frame-synchronous runtime control, enabling agents to inspect game states, execute actions, and verify behavior at their own pace. Built upon this interface, we design an Adversarial Agent Team of eight specialized agents to separate implementation from review, so that problems are found and fixed through multi-round loops. For each conducted and accepted project, we further introduce a training-free self-evolution mechanism to distill it into reusable skeletons, modules, and collaboration contracts for future development. We evaluate prompt-assets-to-game (PA2G), where agents are given an asset library, and prompt-to-game (P2G), where agents generate their own art. On a GameCraft-Bench subset, VibeGame in P2G consistently outperforms a range of agent harnesses in either P2G or PA2G with the same underlying model, including GPT-6.1-Sol.

PersonaCUABench: Benchmarking Computer-Use Agents Serving Diverse Personas

Haoming Li, Defu Cao, Xu Hu, Yingtao Luo, Yiyang Wang, Xianghe Xu, Jiashu He, Wanting Jiang 等 26 位作者

Computer-use agents (CUAs) are commonly evaluated against fixed task specifications, but users may omit requirements, add constraints, or require approval before consequential actions. Completing the benchmark instruction does not guarantee serving the person who asked. We introduce PersonaCUABench, which holds 74 tasks across 11 domains fixed and varies only who asks. A persona agent, playing one of 44 personas in four groups, rewrites each instruction in that user's own words and answers the CUA's questions, while the CUA sees only the dialogue, never the profile or the original instruction. Across nine backbones (3,330 runs), mean task completion falls by 36% relative to the original requests. The losses have two sources: in 59.9% of cells that lose points, the agent engages with what the user asked for and still gets it wrong, and 11.2% are stops the user requested that the checker scores as failures. Even when a persona request is fully completed, the user gives the top satisfaction rating in only 62.7% of cells, against 84.1% for the original requests. CUAs should therefore be evaluated not only on task completion but also on whether they meet the requirements and constraints users express. Code: https://github.com/MatrAIx-ai/PersonaCUABench. Optimizing RAG Rerankers with LLM Feedback via Reinforcement Learning

Yuhang Wu, Xiangqing Shen Nanjing University, Fanfan Wang, Cangqi Zhou Nanjing University of Science and Technology, Zhen Wu Nanjing University, Xinyu Dai Nanjing University, Rui Xia Nanjing University

Rerankers play a pivotal role in refining retrieval results for Retrieval-Augmented Generation. However, current reranking models are typically optimized on static human annotated relevance labels in isolation, decoupled from the downstream generation process. This isolation leads to a fundamental misalignment: documents identified as topically relevant by information retrieval metrics often fail to provide the actual utility required by the LLM for precise answer generation. To bridge this gap, we introduce ReRanking Preference Optimization (RRPO), a reinforcement learning framework that directly aligns reranking with the LLM’s generation quality. By formulating reranking as a sequential decision-making process, RRPO optimizes for context utility using LLM feedback, thereby eliminating the need for expensive human annotations. To ensure training stability, we further introduce a reference-anchored deterministic baseline. Extensive experiments on knowledge-intensive benchmarks demonstrate that RRPO significantly outperforms strong baselines, including the powerful list-wise reranker RankZephyr. Further analysis highlights the versatility of our framework: it generalizes seamlessly to diverse readers (e.g., GPT-4o), integrates orthogonally with query expansion modules like Query2Doc, and remains robust even when trained with noisy supervisors.

HiEdit: Lifelong Model Editing with Hierarchical Reinforcement Learning

Yangfan Wang Harbin Institute of Technology, Tianyang Sun, Chen Tang, Jie Liu Harbin Institute of Technology, Wei Cai Harbin Institute of Technology, Jingchi Jiang Harbin Institute of Technology

Lifelong model editing (LME) aims to sequentially rectify outdated or inaccurate knowledge in deployed LLMs while minimizing side effects on unrelated inputs. However, existing approaches typically apply parameter perturbations to a static and dense set of LLM layers for all editing instances. This practice is counter-intuitive, as we hypothesize that different pieces of knowledge are stored in distinct layers of the model. Neglecting this layer-wise specificity can impede adaptability in integrating new knowledge and result in catastrophic forgetting for both general and previously edited knowledge. To address this, we propose HiEdit, a hierarchical reinforcement learning framework that adaptively identifies the most knowledge-relevant layers for each editing instance. By enabling dynamic, instance-aware layer selection and incorporating an intrinsic reward for sparsity, HiEdit achieves precise, localized updates. Experiments on various LLMs show that HiEdit boosts the performance of the competitive RLEdit by an average of 8.48% with perturbing only half of the layers per edit. Our code is available at: https://github.com/yangfanww/hiedit.

Vision-Language-Action models have recently emerged as a powerful paradigm for general-purpose robot learning, enabling agents to map visual observations and natural-language instructions into executable robotic actions. Though popular, they are primarily trained via supervised fine-tuning or training-time reinforcement learning, requiring explicit fine-tuning phases, human interventions, or controlled data collection. Consequently, existing methods remain unsuitable for challenging simulated- or physical-world deployments, where robots must respond autonomously and flexibly to evolving environments. To address this limitation, we introduce a Test-Time Reinforcement Learning for VLAs (TT-VLA), a framework that enables on-the-fly policy adaptation during inference. TT-VLA formulates a dense reward mechanism that leverages step-by-step task-progress signals to refine action policies during test time while preserving the SFT/RL-trained priors, making it an effective supplement to current VLA models. Empirical results show that our approach enhances overall adaptability, stability, and task success in dynamic, previously unseen scenarios under simulated and real-world settings. We believe TT-VLA offers a principled step toward self-improving, deployment-ready VLAs.

Knowledge-to-Verification: Exploring RLVR for LLMs in Knowledge-Intensive Domains

Zhonghang Yuan University of Science and Technology of China and Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, Zhefan Wang Fudan University, Fang Hu Shanghai Innovation Institute and Fudan University, Zihong Chen, Jinzhe Li, Gang Li Fudan University, Jie Ying Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, Huanjun Kong 等 10 位作者

Reinforcement learning with verifiable rewards (RLVR) has demonstrated promising potential to enhance the reasoning capabilities of large language models (LLMs) in domains such as mathematics and coding. However, its applications on knowledge-intensive domains have not been effectively explored due to the scarcity of high-quality verifiable data. Furthermore, current RLVR focuses solely on the correctness of final answers, leading to the limitations of flawed reasoning and sparse reward signals. In this work, we propose Knowledge-to-Verification (K2V), a framework that extends RLVR to knowledge-intensive domains through automated verifiable data synthesis, while enabling verification of the LLM’s reasoning process. Extensive experiments demonstrate that K2V enhances the reasoning of LLM in knowledge-intensive domains without significantly compromising the model’s general capabilities. This study also suggests that integrating automated data synthesis with reasoning verification is a promising direction to enhance model capabilities in these broader domains.

Render-of-Thought: Rendering Textual Chain-of-Thought as Images for Visual Latent Reasoning

Yifan Wang, Shiyu Li Tencent, Peiming Li, Xiaochen Yang University of Glasgow, Zheng Wei Tencent Technology (Beijing) Company Limited, Yang Tang Tencent

Chain-of-Thought (CoT) prompting has achieved remarkable success in unlocking the reasoning capabilities of Large Language Models (LLMs). Although CoT prompting enhances reasoning, its verbosity imposes substantial computational overhead. Recent works often focus exclusively on outcome alignment and lack supervision on the intermediate reasoning process. These deficiencies obscure the analyzability of the latent reasoning chain. To address these challenges, we introduce Render-of-Thought (RoT), the first framework to reify the reasoning chain by rendering textual steps into images, making the latent rationale explicit and traceable. Specifically, we leverage the vision encoders of existing Vision Language Models (VLMs) as semantic anchors to align the vision embeddings with the textual space. This design ensures plug-and-play implementation without incurring additional pre-training overhead. Extensive experiments on mathematical and logical reasoning benchmarks demonstrate that our method achieves 3-4\times token compression and substantial inference acceleration compared to explicit CoT. Furthermore, it demonstrates a competitive efficiency-accuracy Pareto exploration compared to other methods, validating the feasibility of this paradigm. Our code is available at https://github.com/TencentBAC/RoT

TROJail: Trajectory-Level Optimization for Multi-Turn Large Language Model Jailbreaks with Process Rewards

Xiqiao Xiong, Ouxiang Li, Zhuo Liu, Moxin Li, Wentao Shi, Fengbin Zhu, Qifan Wang Meta AI, Fuli Feng University of Science and Technology of China

Large language models have seen widespread adoption, yet they remain vulnerable to multi-turn jailbreak attacks, threatening their safe deployment. This has led to the task of training automated multi-turn attackers to probe model safety vulnerabilities. However, existing approaches typically rely on turn-level optimization, which is insufficient for learning long-term attack strategies. To bridge this gap, we formulate this task as a multi-turn reinforcement learning problem, directly optimizing the harmfulness of the final-turn response as the outcome reward. To address the sparse supervision of the outcome reward, we introduce TROJail, which employs two process rewards to evaluate the utility of intermediate prompts and integrate them into advantage estimation. These rewards (1) penalize overly harmful prompts that trigger the model’s refusal mechanism, and (2) encourage steering the semantic relevance of responses toward the targeted harmful content. Experimental results show improved attack success rates across multiple models and benchmarks, highlighting the effectiveness of our approach. The code is available at https://anonymous.4open.science/r/TROJail. Warning: This paper contains examples of harmful content.

TiKMiX: Efficient Semi-Dynamic Data Mixture via Data Influence for LLM Pre-training

Yifan Wang University of Science and Technology of China, Binbinliu, Fengze Liu ByteDance, Yuanfan Guo Huawei Technologies Ltd., Jiyao Deng, Xuecheng Wu, Weidong Zhou, Xiaohuan Zhou 等 9 位作者

The data mixture used in the pre-training of a language model is a cornerstone of its final performance. Static data mixing strategies in Large Language Model (LLM) pre-training are often suboptimal as they fail to adapt to the model’s evolving learning states. Conversely, fully online dynamic updates, while adaptive, incur prohibitive computational costs. To bridge this gap, we propose TiKMiX, an efficient semi-dynamic data mixing framework. Our approach is grounded in a key observation of influence ranking invariance: the relative importance of data domains exhibits strong temporal stability over long training intervals. Leveraging this insight, we propose Group Influence, an efficient approach for quantifying domain impact, and formulate data mixing as a periodic, low-overhead influence maximization problem. Compared with REGMIX, the proposed method reduces computational overhead by 80% and achieves an average performance gain of 2% across nine downstream benchmarks, thereby effectively mitigating data under-digestion.

Calibrating Inference Time Alignment with Sequence-level Risk Accumulation

Shanwen Tan Sichuan University, Ziyang Dong, Wei Ju Sichuan University and Peking University, Yiwei Fu, Hao Wu Tencent, Kun Wang, Yifan Wang University of International Business and Economics, Ziyue Qiao Great Bay University

This paper investigates the problem of safe decoding for Large Language Models (LLMs) during inference, particularly under jailbreak attacks. Previous approaches typically either detect malicious content or regulate the decoding alignment of LLMs to mitigate such attacks. Although effective in defending against attacks, these methods often over-reject benign content, limiting their generalizability in real-world scenarios where harmful and benign information coexist. Towards this end, we propose an innovative framework named Sequence-level risk Accumulation for calibrating test-time alignment (SEAT). Specifically, SEAT introduces a reward-guided branch decoding paradigm to incorporate safety awareness during generation. To balance the detection of harmful content with the accurate response to benign information, SEAT employs a sequence-level risk monitor that smooths risk signals over the entire sequence, preventing over-confident refusals for certain tokens. Furthermore, we conduct extensive experiments on four attack benchmarks and two neutral datasets, comparing SEAT with eight state-of-the-art baselines. Consequently, the results demonstrate that SEAT achieves superior performance both in defending against jailbreak attacks and in generating high-quality responses on neutral datasets. Our code is available at https://github.com/ShanwenTan/SEAT.
