Enzyme function annotation and the identification of candidate enzymes for a given reaction are essential steps in connecting genomic information to biochemical reaction networks. However, existing methods rely on sequence or structural similarity or on training with known enzyme--reaction pairs, making it difficult to integrate biochemical evidence across large candidate spaces; they also struggle with retrieval tasks involving enzyme families whose members are highly similar. Here, we introduce RIVER (Reaction--enzyme Inference via Evidence-guided Retrieval), a multi-agent framework for bidirectional enzyme--reaction retrieval that identifies potentially catalyzed reactions for a given enzyme and ranks candidate enzymes for a given reaction. RIVER coordinates large language models, specialized biochemical computational tools, and external knowledge resources to assemble evidence at multiple levels, including reaction chemistry, protein sequences and domains, catalytic mechanisms, and database annotations. Dedicated validation modules further examine evidence gaps and potential conflicts and rerank candidates using traceable evidence records. On public benchmarks, RIVER achieves the highest success rates in both enzyme retrieval and enzyme annotation. In family-specific enzyme retrieval, RIVER outperforms the evaluated baselines on the selected datasets and metrics. In Escherichia coli enzyme retrieval tasks constructed from recent literature, RIVER achieves the best retrieval results with closed-source and open-source model configurations, substantially outperforming closed-source general-purpose and biology-specialized multi-agent systems, including Claude Code, Codex, and Phylo Max. These results suggest that evidence-guided multi-agent retrieval can prioritize biochemically supported enzyme--reaction relationships, providing a basis for subsequent experimental validation.
Algorithm-driven services, including search, recommendation, and advertising, rely on multi-stage model pipelines. While research prioritizes model optimization, post-deployment monitoring focuses on operational reliability. Yet operationally healthy systems may still produce poor-quality results, exposing a gap in existing evaluation and monitoring practices. However, a systematic problem formulation and benchmark for this task remain lacking. To bridge this gap, we formulate System Quality Diagnosis (SQD) for algorithm-driven services, a new task that extends quality evaluation beyond identifying poor outcomes to attributing their causes across system components. Focusing on industrial search, we propose WISE, an agentic framework for end-to-end quality diagnosis that discovers user-facing issues and traces their origins to underlying algorithmic components. To improve diagnostic reliability, we introduce ReTrace for constructing evidence-consistent trajectory supervision and Adaptive Harness-Policy Optimization (AHPO) for failure-guided optimization of the agent harness and model policy. To enable systematic evaluation, we construct WISE-BENCH, a real-world multimodal search benchmark that combines user-facing evidence, internal pipeline traces, and expert diagnosis annotations. Extensive experiments show consistent gains across model scales, with WISE achieving 75.20% end-to-end accuracy on Qwen3.5-35B-A3B. In production, WISE supports quality auditing, online quality assurance, and model optimization, reducing diagnosis costs and improving downstream relevance models.

A property-based test (PBT) checks a property of a program on many generated inputs, but writing one takes a property, a generator of valid inputs, and an oracle. LLM-based PBT writers produce all three, yet they have been evaluated only on Python libraries. We study how two of them, Proptest-AI and Agentic-PBT, generalize to ten programs in five domains: deep learning libraries, databases, system software, compilers, and LLM serving engines. Most of these programs take text in their own language, such as queries, configurations, and programs. Agentic-PBT covers more branches than Proptest-AI on seven of the ten programs with Opus 5 and on all ten with GLM-5.3-Flash. Domain-specific fuzzers cover more of the compilers and of PostgreSQL and less of PyTorch than Agentic-PBT. We filed 180 bug reports, 44 of which duplicate reports that others filed after the models' knowledge cutoffs; maintainers have confirmed 65 of the others, in all five domains, and fixed 23. We draw lessons for building and evaluating such writers: low observability hurts them, and mature fuzzers paired with LLM-written properties could check that each feature behaves as documented.
Vision-Language Models (VLMs) have demonstrated remarkable progress in multimodal tasks, but remain susceptible to hallucinations, where generated text deviates from the underlying visual content. Existing hallucination detection methods primarily rely on output logits or external verification tools, often overlooking their internal mechanisms. In this work, we investigate the outputs of internal attention heads, postulating that specific heads carry the primary signals for truthful generation. However, directly probing these high-dimensional states is challenging due to the entanglement of visual-linguistic syntax and noise. To address this, we propose VIB-Probe, a novel hallucination detection and mitigation framework leveraging the Variational Information Bottleneck (VIB) theory. Our method extracts discriminative patterns across layers and heads while filtering out semantic nuisances through the information bottleneck principle. Furthermore, by leveraging the gradients of our VIB probe, we identify attention heads with strong causal influence on hallucinations and introduce an inference-time intervention strategy for hallucination mitigation. Extensive experiments across diverse benchmarks demonstrate that VIB-Probe significantly outperforms existing baselines in both settings. Our code will be made publicly available.

Autonomous GUI agents based on vision-language models (VLMs) often assume deterministic environment responses, generating actions without verifying whether previous operations succeeded. In real-world settings with network latency, rendering delays, and system interruptions, this assumption leads to undetected action failures, repetitive ineffective behaviors, and catastrophic error accumulation. Moreover, learning robust recovery strategies is challenging due to the high cost of online interaction and the lack of real-time feedback in offline datasets. We propose VeriGUI (Verification-driven GUI Agent), which explicitly models action outcomes and recovery under noisy environments. VeriGUI introduces a Thinking–Verification–Action–Expectation (TVAE) framework to detect failures and guide corrective reasoning, and a two-stage training pipeline that combines Robust SFT with synthetic failure trajectories and GRPO with asymmetric verification rewards. We further construct a Robustness Benchmark based on AndroidControl to evaluate failure recognition and correction. Experiments show that VeriGUI significantly reduces failure loops and improves recovery success while maintaining competitive standard task performance.

Large language models are increasingly deployed in multi-agent systems to overcome context limitations by distributing information across agents. However, whether LLM-based agents can reliably coordinate when each observes only a fragment of the global problem remains unclear. Existing benchmarks often prescribe agent roles or interaction patterns, conflating coordination ability with role-based priors. We introduce SILO-BENCH, a role-free benchmark for evaluating free-form collaboration under information silos. The benchmark comprises 30 algorithmic tasks with exact ground-truth answers, organized into 3 complexity levels based on optimal communication complexity: aggregation, mesh, and global shuffle. To systematically probe coordination capabilities, we instantiate 54 configurations by varying 3 communication protocols, 6 agent scales and 3 frontier LLMs, conducting 1,620 experiments. We evaluate agent behavior along three dimensions: Success Rate, Token Consumption, and Communication Density. Our experiments reveal a fundamental Communication-Reasoning Gap: agents communicate actively, yet fail to translate interaction into effective distributed computation. Performance collapses as complexity increases, with Level-III tasks achieving zero success beyond 50 agents. These findings demonstrate that current LLMs cannot escape information silos through coordination alone. SILO-BENCH provides a foundation for tracking progress toward genuinely collaborative multi-agent systems. The code is available at https://github.com/jwyjohn/acl26-silo-bench.

We introduce Consistent Instance Field, a continuous and probabilistic spatio-temporal representation for dynamic scene understanding.Unlike prior methods that rely on discrete tracking or view-dependent features, our approach disentangles visibility from persistent object identity by modeling each space-time point with an occupancy probability and a conditional instance distribution. To realize this, we introduce a novel instance-embedded representation based on deformable 3D Gaussians, which jointly encode radiance and semantic information and are learned directly from input RGB images and instance masks through differentiable rasterization.Furthermore, we introduce new mechanisms to calibrate per-Gaussian identities and resample Gaussians toward semantically active regions, ensuring consistent instance representations across space and time. Experiments on HyperNeRF and Neu3D datasets demonstrate that our method significantly outperforms state-of-the-art methods on novel-view panoptic segmentation and open-vocabulary 4D querying tasks.

This paper investigates the challenging task of detecting backdoored text-to-image models under black-box settings and introduces a novel detection framework BlackMirror. Existing approaches typically rely on analyzing image-level similarity, under the assumption that backdoor-triggered generations exhibit strong consistency across samples. However, they struggle to generalize to recently emerging backdoor attacks, where backdoored generations can appear visually diverse. BlackMirror is motivated by an observation: across backdoor attacks, only partial semantic patterns within the generated image are steadily manipulated, while the rest of the content remains diverse or benign. Accordingly, BlackMirror consists of two components: MirrorMatch, which aligns visual patterns with the corresponding instructions to detect semantic deviations; and MirrorVerify, which evaluates the stability of these deviations across varied prompts to distinguish true backdoor behavior from benign responses. BlackMirror is a general, training-free framework that can be deployed as a plug-and-play module in Model-as-a-Service (MaaS) applications. Comprehensive experiments demonstrate that BlackMirror achieves accurate detection across a wide range of attacks. Code is available at this https://github.com/Ferry-Li/BlackMirror.
