Lifecycle overhead silently consumes accelerator capacity across large-scale recommendation training fleets. Our largest recommendation workloads process tens of billions train- ing examples per day on thousands of GPUs. Before this work, only 50-60% of their end-to-end wall time advanced training on new data. We present a fleet-scale study of this lifecycle overhead and a set of optimizations spanning the full training stack. We use Effective Training Time (ETT%) as an operational framework to instrument lost time, localize it to independently owned infrastructure components, and expose work repeated across job restarts. This analysis guides optimizations like communication elimination and pipeline overlap during trainer initialization; dynamic-shape handling, autotuning pruning, and reusable Py- Torch 2 compilation caches; asynchronous checkpointing; stan- dalone model publishing; and reductions in recovery cost. We evaluate the optimizations on representative models and measure their impacts in our training fleet. ETT% improves on every benchmark, by 15.5% on average, and reaches 85% on our largest workload. Fleet-wide ETT% rose from about 80% to above 90% after deployment.

As large language model agents increasingly compile natural-language requirements into repository-level code, requirement-to-test generation grows in importance to provide validation constraints (or harness) to guide code generation. Yet it remains unclear whether current agents can generate tests that validate the required behavior when the implementation of that behavior is withheld. Existing test-generation benchmarks mostly focus on white-box testing, whereas the requirement--test-related study usually requires evaluation on semantic alignment between the given documents and the generated tests. We introduce Req2Test-Bench, a benchmark containing 5,086 execution-validated instances recovered from developer-authored behavior-driven development (BDD) artifacts in 8 open-source projects, spanning 5 programming languages and 4 BDD frameworks. Each instance pairs a natural-language requirement in Gherkin with its developer-written Test Implementation. Given the requirement, target interfaces of the required behavior, an agent must generate a complete, potentially multi-file Test Implementation. Evaluation of 8 agent--model--reasoning configurations reveals a substantial gap between execution success and behavioral adequacy, which is measured strictly as kill-completeness: a kill-complete test kills every mutant that the ground-truth test kills. The best-performing configuration, Codex with DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash, produces passing tests for 82.8% of instances, yet only 33.8% are behaviorally adequate. We find that (1) scaling up agents yields sharply diminishing returns in behavioral adequacy relative to generation cost; (2) under-specified requirements cause the information gap, including ambiguous setup and implicit expected outcomes; and (3) requirement-grounded harnesses that steer agent non-determinism offer a promising direction for improvement.

We introduce EgoHand, a monocular 3D hand reconstruction model that achieves state-of-the-art performance on egocentric video. Central to our approach is the curation of a high-quality training corpus of 14 million images, combining synthetic data, in-the-wild video, and multi-camera motion capture to balance scene diversity and supervision quality. The model adopts SOMA-Hand as its parametric representation and processes 2D hand crops with a transformer encoder, incorporating camera cues and an auxiliary 2D branch to improve geometric consistency and image alignment. Zero-shot evaluations on HOT3D, ARCTIC, and H2O demonstrate strong out-of-domain generalization, with lower joint-position, root-translation, and acceleration errors than competing baselines at an inference latency of approximately 9.01 ms. A blinded user preference study further shows that participants favor EgoHand's reconstructed hand poses over those from Apple EgoDex and Ropedia Xperience-10M. We release the EgoHand model and source code under the OpenMDW license, allowing free commercial use of the model.

Accurate prediction helps achieve supply-demand balance in energy systems, thereby supporting operational decision-making and scheduling.Traditional models, which lack AI-assisted automation, often rely heavily on expert knowledge, incur high labor costs, and perform poorly under sparse-data conditions. To address these challenges, this work proposes an Energy Forecasting Large Language Model (EF-LLM),which integrates domain knowledge and temporal data for time-series forecasting while supporting both pre-forecast operations and post-forecast decision-making.EF-LLM's human-artificial intelligence (AI) interaction capabilities further lower the entry barrier for forecasting tasks and reduce the need for additional expert involvement. To support these functions, a continual learning framework with updatable Low-Rank Adaptation (LoRA) and a multi-channel architecture is developed to align heterogeneous multimodal data, enabling EF-LLM to continuously acquire and adapt multimodal knowledge. In addition,EF-LLM improves prediction accuracy under sparse-data conditions by leveraging its ability to process and fuse multimodal information.A Fusion Parameter-Efficient Fine-Tuning (F-PEFT) method is further introduced to effectively exploit both time-series data and textual information.EF-LLM is also the first energy-specific LLM to detect hallucinations and quantify their occurrence rate, achieved via multi-task learning and semantic similarity analysis. This work has achieved success in energy prediction scenarios for load, PV, and wind power forecast.

The growing demand for automated writing assistance in diverse academic domains highlights the need for robust Chinese Grammatical Error Correction (CGEC) systems that can adapt across disciplines. However, existing CGEC research largely lacks dedicated benchmarks for multi-disciplinary academic writing, overlooking continual learning (CL) as a promising solution to handle domain-specific linguistic variation and prevent catastrophic forgetting. To fill this crucial gap, we introduce CL^2GEC, the first Continual Learning benchmark for Chinese Literature Grammatical Error Correction, designed to evaluate adaptive CGEC across multiple academic fields. Our benchmark includes 10,000 human-annotated sentences spanning 10 disciplines, each exhibiting distinct linguistic styles and error patterns. CL^2GEC focuses on evaluating grammatical error correction in a continual learning setting, simulating sequential exposure to diverse academic disciplines to reflect real-world editorial dynamics. We evaluate large language models under sequential tuning, parameter-efficient adaptation, and four representative CL algorithms, using both standard GEC metrics and continual learning metrics adapted to task-level variation. Experimental results reveal that regularization-based methods mitigate forgetting more effectively than replay-based or naive sequential approaches. Our benchmark provides a rigorous foundation for future research in adaptive grammatical error correction across diverse academic domains.

Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) are vulnerable to jailbreak attacks, which can elicit harmful responses from MLLMs. Many MLLMs support multi-image inputs, inadvertently introducing new vulnerabilities due to less efforts on multi-image safety alignment. Previous MLLM jailbreak methods only uses a single image, which restricts the attack space: they cannot distribute harmful requests across multiple images, carry abundant information, or exploit additional visual reasoning tasks to distract MLLMs. To address these limitations, in this paper, we propose a compositional jailbreak framework, \textbf{DMN}, which leverages \textbf{D}istributed instruction, \textbf{M}ultimodal evidence and a \textbf{N}umber chain task to fully enhance the jailbreak performance. Extensive experiments show that DMN is highly effective for MLLM jailbreaking, e.g. achieving attack success rates of over 90% on GPT-4o, Gemini-2.5-pro and Claude Sonnet 4, surpassing other baselines by a large margin. This compositional, multi-image jailbreak strategy reveals fundamental weaknesses in their safety mechanisms.

Federated learning (FL) is a machine learning setting where many clients (e.g. mobile devices or whole organizations) collaboratively train a model under the orchestration of a central server (e.g. service provider), while keeping the training data decentralized. FL embodies the principles of focused data collection and minimization, and can mitigate many of the systemic privacy risks and costs resulting from traditional, centralized machine learning and data science approaches. Motivated by the explosive growth in FL research, this paper discusses recent advances and presents an extensive collection of open problems and challenges.
