AI 速览:FWM 将规则驱动的战斗执行与视频渲染分离,用可执行引擎和确定性编译器生成交互代理,从而在无需重训渲染器的情况下支持可定制战斗规则与角色外观。

A playable, programmable game world must maintain persistent state, enforce executable rules, and support extensible gameplay mechanics. Existing video world models can generate plausible combat, yet struggle to keep hit reactions and health updates consistent with game rules. We introduce Fight World Model (FWM), which separates rule-governed combat execution from video rendering. An executable engine maintains state and resolves interactions. A deterministic compiler encodes these outcomes and attempted actions in a spatially and temporally aligned interaction proxy. The proxy aligns action and skill windows, brief hit reactions, and persistent health by fighter identity and timing. These cues can be controlled separately to render interactions under modified rules. Identity-bound references preserve character appearance across side switches. We train FWM on FightWorld Corpus, spanning 52 skill effects, 187 character-appearance variants, and 15 arenas. Without retraining the renderer, FWM supports damage scaling, limited-hit immunity, lifesteal, and multi-stage skill mechanisms beyond the native game. It also allows character and arena customization. Experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of FWM, which outperforms existing game world models in action fidelity, hit reactions, health-state consistency, and character appearance preservation. 多源协变量偏移下高维非参数回归的最优神经估计

Optimal Neural Estimation for High-Dimensional Nonparametric Regression under Multisource Covariate Shift

AI 速览:研究多源协变量偏移下高维非参数回归,提出oracle加权神经估计并给出minimax最优收敛率,同时给出无需已知噪声方差与偏移参数的自适应方法。

We study high-dimensional nonparametric regression under multisource covariate shift, where $\mathrm J$ sources of training data share a common regression function but differ in their covariate distributions, sample sizes, and noise variances. Our goal is to combine these sources to estimate the regression function accurately under a target covariate distribution. We propose an oracle weighted neural estimator and establish its minimax optimality up to logarithmic factors through matching upper and lower bounds. The resulting rate is $\mathsf n_{\rm eff}^{-2p/(2p+K)}$, where $p$ and $K$ denote the effective smoothness and dimension of the regression function, and the effective sample size is \begin{align} \mathsf n_{\rm eff} =\sum_{j=1}^{\mathrm J} \frac{n_j}{(1+σ_{ρ,j})σ_{ε,j}^{2}}. \nonumber \end{align} Here, $n_j$ is the sample size of source $j$, $σ_{ε,j}^{2}$ is its noise variance, and $σ_{ρ,j}$ controls the deviation between the covariate distribution of source $j$ and the target covariate distribution. We also develop an adaptive procedure that requires no knowledge of source noise variances or covariate-shift parameters. Under suitable conditions, this procedure attains the oracle minimax rate up to logarithmic factors.

Learning Kolmogorov Backward Operators for Spectral Analysis and Forecasting: A Data-Driven Variational Galerkin Framework

Yuanchao Xu, Claire Valva, Ben Gao, Isao Ishikawa

For a time-homogeneous Markov process, the fixed-lag solution operator \( (T_τf)(x)=\mathbb E[f(X_{t+τ})\mid X_t=x] \) of the Kolmogorov backward equation evolves observables linearly and deterministically, even when the dynamics are stochastic. We approximate this operator using a two-stage method where we first approximate this operator directly from data, without knowledge of the governing equation (e.g., Fourier Neural Operator), and then compress the Galerkin projection onto a finite-dimensional observable space that is fixed in advance or selected variationally. The error analysis traces the learning error of the estimator, the sampling error of the Galerkin inner products, and the invariance and reconstruction properties of the observable space to the computed spectra and forecasts. The sampling error enters only through a multiplicative factor. Near an isolated spectral cluster, the invariance defect of a subspace controls its distance from the target invariant subspace. The forecast error is controlled by the one-step error of the reduced model and the projection error of the observable; when the measure is invariant and the reduced model preserves constants and is stable on mean-zero observables, the bound is uniform in the horizon. For deterministic dynamics, a learning rate for Fourier neural operators (FNOs) gives one explicit bound for the learning error. Numerical experiments illustrate spectral approximation and forecasting, including long-rollout stability and a comparison with extended dynamic mode decomposition (EDMD) when fewer transition pairs than basis functions are observed.

Yunfan Lu, Xiaogang Xu, Pengteng Li, Yusheng Wang, Yi Cui, Huizai Yao, Mingchao Xu, Hui Xiong

Event cameras offering high dynamic range and low latency have emerged as disruptive technologies in imaging. Despite growing research on leveraging these benefits for different imaging tasks, a comprehensive study of recently advances and challenges are still lacking. This limits the broader understanding of how to utilize events in universal imaging applications. In this survey, we first introduce a physical model and the characteristics of different event sensors as the foundation. Following this, we highlight the advancement and interaction of image/video enhancement tasks with events. Additionally, we explore advanced tasks, which capture richer light information with events, \eg~light field estimation, multi-view generation, and photometric. Finally, we discuss new challenges and open questions offering a perspective for this rapidly evolving field. Generate the Forest before the Trees - A Hierarchical Diffusion model for Climate Downscaling

Declan J. Curran, Sanaa Hobeichi, Hira Saleem, Hao Xue, Flora D. Salim

Downscaling is essential for generating the high-resolution climate data needed for local planning, but traditional methods remain computationally demanding. Recent years have seen impressive results from AI downscaling models, particularly diffusion models, which have attracted attention due to their ability to generate ensembles and overcome the smoothing problem common in other AI methods. However, these models typically remain computationally intensive. We introduce a Hierarchical Diffusion Downscaling (HDD) model, which introduces an easily-extensible hierarchical sampling process to the diffusion framework. A coarse-to-fine hierarchy is imposed via a simple downsampling scheme. HDD achieves competitive accuracy on ERA5 reanalysis datasets and CMIP6 models, significantly reducing computational load by running on up to half as many pixels with competitive results. Additionally, a single model trained at 0.25° resolution transfers seamlessly across multiple CMIP6 models with much coarser resolution. HDD thus offers a lightweight alternative for probabilistic climate downscaling, facilitating affordable large-ensemble high-resolution climate projections. See a full code implementation at: https://github.com/HDD-Hierarchical-Diffusion-Downscaling/HDD-Hierarchical-Diffusion-Downscaling.

API-TAIL: Detecting Model Substitution in LLM APIs through Temperature-Aligned Likelihood Tails

Haocheng Mei, Yuchuan Tian, Ye Yuan, Chao Xu, Allen Chen, Kai Han, Yunhe Wang

Commercial language model APIs return only text, allowing a provider to cut costs by quietly routing a fraction of user requests to a cheaper substitute model while billing for the advertised one. Detecting such partial substitution is challenging because honest providers also alter the output distribution through undocumented decoding and serving choices, such as temperature scaling, sampling truncation, repetition and presence penalties, and default system prompts, forcing an audit to test against a composite null of legitimate configurations rather than a single reference. Our key insight is that these legitimate variations primarily shift response typicality across the entire batch, whereas partial substitution injects individual responses that remain anomalous under the claimed model. Building on this, we introduce API-TAIL, a typicality audit that first absorbs batch-level shifts by aligning a single effective temperature to center standardized surprisal scores across the audited batch, and then flags the endpoint if the number of remaining tail responses exceeds a threshold calibrated across legitimate configurations. Evaluated on real-world API responses and constructed substitution mixtures, API-TAIL controls false alarms across diverse honest providers and detects low-rate partial substitution with a small query budget. Under a common composite calibration, it outperforms the adapted rank- and MMD-based audit baselines.

Improving JEV Entailment Reranking with Span Readouts and Selective Adaptation

Haocheng Mei, Yuchuan Tian, Ye Yuan, Enhua Wu, Chao Xu, Allen Chen, Kai Han, Yunhe Wang

JEV decision models pair a language model backbone with a lightweight scoring head to select among natural-language options. Direct selection compares candidate answers within one request, whereas entailment reranking evaluates each candidate in a separate natural language inference (NLI) request over fixed relation options. We examine whether the readout and adaptation choices used for direct selection remain effective for cross-request reranking. We combine a mean-span readout with selective backbone adaptation. Mean-span pooling replaces the option-ending pointer with an average of the contextualized states inside each NLI option, without adding head parameters. Selective adaptation retains low-rank updates in attention and gated DeltaNet projections while removing feed-forward adapters. On MC11, which averages accuracy over eleven reranking configurations from seven sources, selective adaptation improves NeoHorse-1-4B accuracy over the all-module baseline while cutting trainable parameters by more than half, and mean-span pooling yields further consistent gains at the same parameter count.

Dual DeltaNet: Value-Side Memory Reorganization for Linear Attention

Yixiao Qian, Yaxin Zhang, Song Chen, Jiaxu Liu, Shengze Cai, Chao Xu

Linear attention and state space models (SSMs) offer efficient alternatives to softmax attention by maintaining a fixed-size recurrent state, but this design requires careful management to preserve useful historical associations and limit interference. The delta rule helps reduce interference through correction of the value associated with each key, but it does not explicitly account for how related value features are distributed across the state. We observe that a state $\boldsymbol{S}\in\mathbb{R}^{d_k\times d_v}$ can be viewed as a bank of $d_k$ addresses storing $d_v$-dimensional values. While a key-side read $\boldsymbol{S}^\top\boldsymbol{k}$ retrieves the value associated with $\boldsymbol{k}$, a value-side read $\boldsymbol{S}\boldsymbol{e}$ aggregates addresses whose stored value features match the selector $\boldsymbol{e}$. Based on this observation, we propose Dual DeltaNet (DDN), which extends Kimi Delta Attention (KDA) with a two-sided delta rule. The key-side delta rule reads with the current key to correct its associated value, while the complementary value-side delta rule reads with selected features of the current value to reorganize the addresses it occupies. We derive a chunkwise parallel training algorithm and a rank-2 recurrence that increases arithmetic intensity during inference. Compared with KDA, GDN-2, and Mamba-3, DDN achieves the strongest overall performance across language modeling, zero-shot downstream tasks, and retrieval, while incurring modest training and inference overhead relative to KDA. Morphological Decoupling-Based Skeletal Classification for Clinical Assessment of Malocclusion

Zhichun Jin, Zhicheng He, Hao Xu, Dongyang Li, Lin Wang, Hongliang Ren, Long Bai

Malocclusion skeletal grading is a fundamental task in orthodontics, critical for diagnosis and treatment planning. Traditionally, cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) is used for visual measurement, and the reconstructed lateral cephalograms are handed over to expert dentists for diagnosis. However, manual review is time-consuming, labor-intensive, and subject to inter-operator variability. Therefore, an automatic CBCT-based system is needed for reliable malocclusion skeletal grading. In this case, we develop TeethGNN, a novel graph-based framework designed to combine CBCT image features with morphological information for accurate and efficient malocclusion grading. TeethGNN utilizes a decoupled learnable decoder to directly predict key morphological indicators from CBCT images, eliminating the need for manual measurements. These morphological features are then fused with image features using a graph neural network (GNN), which effectively models the relationships between the modalities. To further enhance robustness and calibration, we introduce a collaborative calibration strategy. This strategy combines multi-scale graph adversarial perturbation for explicit calibration and nonlinear topological graph calibration for implicit confidence adjustment. Extensive experiments and ablation studies on our collected clinical dataset demonstrate that our malocclusion measurement system achieves 77.08\% in accuracy and 89.61\% in AUC, outperforming the compared state-of-the-art methods. These results validate the effectiveness of graph-based multimodal fusion and collaborative calibration in improving malocclusion grading performance. Our system shows strong potential for advancing computer-aided orthodontic diagnosis, providing an accurate and reliable solution for vision-based clinical measurement and diagnosis.

Human Evaluation with Automatic Scores: Separating Sampling and Estimation Gains

Yang Liu, Ran Zou, Zhengtao Gui, Chao Xue

Automatic judges offer inexpensive information about model outputs, but an evaluation team must decide how to turn that information into fewer human annotations. Scores can guide sampling, correct an estimate, or support adaptive acquisition, and these uses may capture overlapping gains. We compare their incremental value on fixed evaluation pools from three preference datasets, and 19 attributed-question-answering systems. Matched comparisons use the same scores, account for pilot labels and budget rules, and separate acquisition from estimation. Score stratification is a strong reference: after ten-bin stratification, the best fixed local linear correction offers only 1.00--5.27% further MSE reduction in the primary configurations. Unequal allocation offers larger gains in some pools, but can increase error when confident scores conceal variable human outcomes. Comparison on AttributedQA, shrinking learned quotas toward score-only quotas lowers pooled MSE for 17 of 19 systems relative to the score-only procedure, but ordinary pooled 95% intervals cover only 88.09--93.54%. The same shrinkage improves on the score-only reference in only one of eight preference configurations. Ranking experiments further show that lower individual MSE need not improve system selection. These findings support a simple starting procedure, proportional sampling within score strata followed by a stratified human mean, and identify what additional evidence is needed to justify correction or adaptation for the intended evaluation output.

BiDex-100: A Comprehensive Benchmark for Bimanual Dexterous Manipulation Across 100+ Simulation Tasks

Yong Wang, Kecheng Zheng, Xing Zhu, Chao Xu, Yujun Shen, Shengze Cai

Bimanual manipulation with dexterous hands has attracted growing attention in research on robotic action models. However, few studies have developed benchmarks specifically tailored for dexterous manipulation, leaving the dexterous manipulation capabilities of existing models insufficiently characterized. In this paper, we present BiDex-100, a simulation benchmark for bimanual dexterous manipulation that combines broad task coverage, multi-dimensional evaluation, and high-DoF hand embodiments. Concretely, the benchmark comprises 106 tasks organized along five capability axes: generalization, instruction following, limited demonstrations, long horizon, and memory. Each task is paired with an out-of-domain variant featuring controlled visual and spatial changes, allowing systematic assessment of robustness. In addition, the benchmark supports two embodiments and provides 8,080 success-validated teleoperated demonstrations, totaling 6.25 million frames. We evaluate seven recent Vision-Language-Action models under a unified protocol, establishing baselines for capability-specific performance, robustness, and data efficiency. HC2Robot: Hyper-Connection Transformers with Predicted Foresight for Multi-Terrain Humanoid Parkour

Wenhao Xu, Yanheng Mai, Yifei Fu, Nan Zheng, Yanbo Zhou, Zirui Huang, Mingsheng Ling, Xinjue Wang 等 9 位作者

Humanoid parkour requires robots to reason about future footholds and whole-body motions over highly discontinuous terrain. We revisit the information asymmetry in asymmetric actor-critic learning for perceptive humanoid locomotion: the critic exploits privileged simulator signals during training, whereas the deployable actor operates solely from onboard perception. We argue that the key is not exposing privileged information to the actor, but learning a deployable approximation of it to narrow the information gap between training and deployment. We present HC2Robot, a deployable perceptive humanoid parkour framework consisting of a Predicted Foresight Module (PFM) and a Hyper-Connection (HC) Transformer. PFM predicts from deployable observations the policy-conditioned timing, location, and support quality of each foot's next touchdown event, converting privileged supervision into a deployable latent representation that provides the actor with predicted touchdown information without privileged runtime sensing. The HC Transformer further enhances temporal reasoning through learnable multi-stream routing, while a future motion prediction head provides short-horizon motion priors for regularization. Across stairs, gaps, high platforms, and slopes, HC2Robot achieves a mean simulated traversal success rate of 97.60% and consistently higher safe foothold rates than strong perceptive locomotion baselines, supporting improved traversal performance and geometric foothold support under deployable sensing.

Decoupling and Regulating Modality Heads for Fake News Detection under Missing Modality

Kai Qian, Dongjie Xu, Weijie Shi, Yezhao Xu, Jiaqi Wang, Hanghui Guo, Mengze Li, Hao Chen 等 10 位作者

Multimodal news often loses its image or text as it spreads across Web platforms. Existing methods treat this as information loss, assuming that the original veracity label remains valid. This assumption fails for fake news reusing authentic material, whose remainder may be genuine. Detectors should therefore decouple modality cues and adapt their contributions to modality availability. However, coarse news labels provide little guidance for modality decoupling, while training on complete inputs can induce modality bias. To address these challenges, we propose Head-wise Modality Decoupling and Regulation (HMDR) for multimodal large language models. First, Modality Head Decoupling decouples modality representations through soft head grouping by attention preference. Second, Modality Head Regulation regulates head contributions through compensation for imbalanced modality attention. Finally, Modality Invariance Learning promotes invariance by aligning representations of each modality under replacement of the other. Experiments on two benchmarks show that HMDR improves detection under missing modalities while maintaining performance on complete inputs.

Grasp-Then-Plan with Failure Attribution: A Closed Two-Stage Framework for Precise and Generalizable Robotic Manipulation

Jiahao Xu, Peiyuan Wang, Hanzhuo Zhang, Zihao Yu, Tianyu Fu, Hao Chen, Xuanhao Xiang, Zixuan Li 等 11 位作者

In robotic manipulation, the tight coupling between grasping and motion planning often obscures the true source of failure, leading to inefficient trial-and-error. To enable efficient long-horizon manipulation, we propose GTP-FA (Grasp-Then-Plan with Failure Attribution), a task-oriented two-stage 'grasp-then-plan' framework that generates grasp candidates and performs downstream motion planning conditioned on the selected grasp. Given a failed manipulation trajectory, we learn a failure attribution model that generalizes to unseen grasps and produces a stable distribution over failure modes for diagnosis-guided optimization. Based on these attribution results, we then optimize both modules in a diagnosis-driven manner: on the grasping side, we inject task-level priors and risk penalties into grasp candidate scoring and optimization to suppress unstable or task-incompatible grasps; on the planning side, we target high-risk initial states through data collection and fine-tuning to address genuine planning bottlenecks. We evaluate the proposed framework in both simulation and real-robot experiments, and show that GTP-FA improves the corresponding base learners across RL, IL, diffusion-policy, and VLA-based settings, achieving substantially higher overall task success rates.

Computational and Statistical Guarantees of the c-Rectified flow

Leda Wang, Zhehao Xu, Qiang Liu, Harrison H. Zhou

Recently, rectified flow has emerged as a fundamental framework for large-scale image generation, powering state-of-the-art systems such as FLUX.1 and Stable Diffusion 3. Despite its remarkable empirical success, the computational and statistical guarantees of iterative rectified flow have remained largely unexplored. We address this problem by studying c-rectified flow, a cost-aware class of rectified flow that projects velocity fields onto a gradient class while preserving endpoint marginals. The ordinary rectified flow can fail to recover the optimal transport coupling: in a Gaussian case study, the iteration converges to the optimal coupling if and only if the source and target covariance matrices commute. More generally, for a Gaussian to log-concave coupling, the ordinary rectified flow can reach a fixed point after one step from independent initialization. In contrast, under suitable regularity and uniform-integrability assumptions, iterative c-rectified flow always converges to the optimal transport coupling. We further establish quantitative one-step contraction and exponential convergence guarantees under projection-stability assumptions for both quadratic and strongly convex displacement costs. Finally, under a Hölder ball assumption, we develop new minimax-optimal score estimation rates and show that, when combined with iterative c-rectified flow, they yield a rate-optimal estimator of the optimal transport for the dimension \(d \ge 3\) and a nearly parametric rate for \(d=1,2\).

Multivariate Time Series Forecasting needs Cross Variable Loss

Kuiye Ding, Yifan Hu, Hao Xue, Hanchen Wang

Multivariate time series forecasting presents unique challenges because future variables often co-evolve under shared system dynamics. While existing studies mainly focus on cross-variable dependencies in historical observations, dependencies among future values are much less explored. Specifically, modern forecasting models largely follow the Direct Forecasting (DF) paradigm, generating multi-step forecasts with point-wise objectives that do not explicitly constrain cross-variable structure. In this work, we show that the DF objective is mismatched in the presence of cross-variable and lagged dependencies, revealing an objective gap. To address this issue, we propose \textbf{C}ross-\textbf{V}ariable \textbf{Loss} (CvLoss), a plug-in structural regularizer that constrains forecast residuals on a cross-variable graph. CvLoss penalizes inconsistent edge-wise residual differences over forecast patches, encouraging consistency across both synchronous and asynchronous interactions. Our experiments show that CvLoss consistently improves competitive forecasting models, outperforms representative learning objectives, and is compatible with a variety of forecasting backbones.

PosePlaner: Denoising Any Feed-Forward Pose Predictor from Pairwise Planar Geometry

Yihang Chen, Bin Tan, Yujun Shen, Yinghao Xu, Nan Xue

Recent multi-view Transformers (e.g., DUSt3R and VGGT) have advanced 3D reconstruction by scaling training data and model capacity from two views to many views and long sequences, subsuming the classical SfM/SLAM pipeline of feature extraction, matching, and pose estimation in a single feed-forward pass. Yet this subsumption hides the interfaces between pipeline stages---correspondences, geometry, and pose are entangled in a single forward pass, leaving supervised fine-tuning as the major path to improvement and offering no mechanism to correct predictions from geometric evidence at test time. We propose PosePlaner to close this gap by reviving the classical coupling between correspondences and pose via flow matching, treating pose refinement as a conditional generation problem that takes coarse geometric matches and initial pose as input condition and fuses the resulting pose hypotheses into a single refined estimate, providing a continuous, data-driven analog of RANSAC voting. Our method is trained efficiently on two-view data, yet serves as a periodic refiner for streaming n-view pose estimators with no retraining. Empirically, it corrects failures of feed-forward predictors, substantially improves correspondence-based solvers, and reduces accumulated drift in long streaming sequences.

Modality Disentangled Learning for Incomplete Multimodal Emotion Recognition: A Primitive Memory Distillation Perspective

Jiaqi Zhang, Zheng Pang, Mengting Li, Yiqi Wang, Guangyuan Dong, Chao Xue, Yusen Wu, Zihao Li 等 12 位作者

Multimodal Emotion Recognition (MER) systems often suffer from missing modalities in real-world scenarios. Existing methods usually generate, align, or distill missing modalities as a whole, overlooking the heterogeneous nature of the information carried by each modality. Such holistic treatment mixes inferable shared semantics with uncertain modality-specific details, yielding unstable representations and degrading robustness. To address this issue, we propose the Primitive Memory Distillation (PriMD) framework. Unlike existing methods, PriMD takes an intra-modal perspective and focuses on how different types of information within a modality differ in recoverability. PriMD first disentangles cross-modal shared semantics from modality-specific representations, and then discretizes the latter into learnable semantic primitives to construct modality-specific memory banks. When modalities are missing, PriMD is a teacher-student framework that the student model uses the shared semantics of available modalities as queries to dynamically retrieve primitives. It compensates for missing modality-specific information within a constrained memory space and aligns with the teacher model. Extensive experiments on IEMOCAP, CMU-MOSI, and CMU-MOSEI demonstrate that PriMD achieves state-of-the-art performance and consistently stronger robustness across a wide range of missing-modality settings, while mitigating the instability caused by holistic feature inference. Our code and project website are available at https://www.jiaqizhang-sengoku.com/Code/PriMD and https://www.jiaqizhang-sengoku.com/PriMD/ , respectively.

Scaling Dexterous Manipulation via Action Representation Pretraining

Yanjinghao Xu, Jiexin Zhang, Huan Zhao, Jianjia Mo, Zhenghao Yin, Dingkang Liang, Xiang Bai, Han Ding

Large-scale vision, language, and video pretraining has substantially improved the perception and generalization capabilities of robotic manipulation models, but action generation for complex dexterous manipulation remains constrained by the scarcity of robot demonstrations. Limited robot demonstrations must be used to learn both action representations and task-conditioned action distributions, making it difficult to adequately learn action representations and, in turn, limiting the ability of downstream generative models to generate complex dexterous actions. To address this limitation, we propose ARPG (Action Representation Pretraining and Generation), which explicitly separates action representation learning from action generation: we first pretrain an action representation encoder on large-scale human manipulation data. We then freeze the encoder and train a compact generative backbone (130M parameters) to learn task-conditioned action distributions in the encoder's representation space. Experimental results show that ARPG achieves state-of-the-art performance on the DexJoCo benchmark and improves the average success rate on bimanual dexterous manipulation from 10.1% for $π_{0.5}$ to 44.7%. Scaling experiments further show that broader coverage of human manipulation behaviors effectively improves downstream performance. These results indicate that action representation pretraining provides an independent scaling dimension for improving complex dexterous manipulation capabilities.

After One-Click Video: The Inflow of Service-Type Content, the Failure of the Recommendation Pool Mechanism, and the BoLe System

Bo Zou, Chao Xu

In September 2026, a new large language model was released. Soon after, a new way of making explainer videos became very popular: people asked the model to write a program, and the program produced the video. "One-click video" content then appeared in large amounts on many platforms. On the surface, this is a rise in creative power at the level of the individual. We argue that, at a deeper level, it changes the structure of the content industry. This judgment rests on two observations. First, this wave of content is service-type content. People watch it to meet a need, not to enjoy the content itself. The other kind is work-type content. AI makes both kinds faster to produce. But anyone can come in and make service-type content, while work-type content is limited by the number of people who have something to say. So the ratio between the two slowly becomes unbalanced. Second, free platforms choose content through layers of trial viewing, and this uses up user attention. The total amount of attention is fixed. The unbalanced ratio also dilutes good content. A simplified mathematical model shows that, as long as these conditions hold, the recommendation pool mechanism will fail once new content grows past a certain multiple. Based on this, we discuss one possible way out. Machines and entry rules judge whether service-type content passes the bar. Trusted people judge work-type content. We call this the BoLe system. At the end, we briefly imagine how the two kinds of content may develop from here.

OvisOCR3 Technical Report

Yu Xia, Yinglun Li, Yuhui Chen, Jinlong Huang, Yuyang Wanyan, Shengze Shi, Yifei Song, Yue Duan 等 15 位作者

We introduce OvisOCR3, a 0.8B model for a broad range of OCR-related tasks. OvisOCR3 unifies document parsing, general OCR, key information extraction (KIE), document figure captioning, and cross-page table reconstruction in a single model. We train the model on real and synthetic data through continued pretraining and use domain-balanced mid-training to balance supervision across tasks with different data volumes and response lengths. Multi-teacher on-policy distillation transfers expertise from five domain-specific 4B teachers into the shared model, followed by mixed-task reinforcement learning with domain-specific rewards. We compare OvisOCR3 with general-purpose vision-language models and specialized OCR models on public and in-house benchmarks covering all five task families. In these comparisons, it achieves an overall score of 96.74 on OmniDocBench v1.6 and the highest overall scores on PureDocBench, Real5-OmniDocBench, and MDPBench. On OCRBench v2, it ranks first, scoring 65.9 and 61.3 on the English and Chinese splits, respectively. It also outperforms the baselines on OCRBench and all four KIE benchmarks. On DocFigCapBench, it achieves the highest localization F1 and a caption score close to that of Qwen3.8-Max. For cross-page tables, it leads in Relation F1 on CrossTabBench and truncated-table TEDS on MPDocBench-Parse. These results demonstrate that a compact 0.8B model can achieve strong performance across diverse OCR-related tasks. OvisOCR3 is available at https://huggingface.co/ATH-MaaS/OvisOCR3.

MinerU2.5: A Decoupled Vision-Language Model for Efficient High-Resolution Document Parsing

Junbo Niu, Zheng Liu, Zhuangcheng Gu, Bin Wang, Linke Ouyang, Zhiyuan Zhao, Tao Chu, Tianyao He 等 59 位作者

We introduce MinerU2.5, a 1.2B-parameter document parsing vision-language model that achieves state-of-the-art recognition accuracy while maintaining exceptional computational efficiency. Our approach employs a coarse-to-fine, two-stage parsing strategy that decouples global layout analysis from local content recognition. In the first stage, the model performs efficient layout analysis on downsampled images to identify structural elements, circumventing the computational overhead of processing high-resolution inputs. In the second stage, guided by the global layout, it performs targeted content recognition on native-resolution crops extracted from the original image, preserving fine-grained details in dense text, complex formulas, and tables. To support this strategy, we developed a comprehensive data engine that generates diverse, large-scale training corpora for both pretraining and fine-tuning. Ultimately, MinerU2.5 demonstrates strong document parsing ability, achieving state-of-the-art performance on multiple benchmarks, surpassing both general-purpose and domain-specific models across various recognition tasks, while maintaining significantly lower computational overhead.

MoEC: A Memory-Routed Mixture-of-Experts Controller for Adaptive Minecraft Control

Hui Wu, Chao Xu, Jianghui Wang, Ziqiong Liu, Dong Li, Yiwei Dai, Emad Barsoum AMD

Embodied agents in open-ended environments such as Minecraft increasingly adopt planner–controller architectures, with large language models acting as high-level planners. While planning has advanced rapidly, control remains underexplored. Existing systems commonly rely on a monolithic policy to execute subgoals across varying contexts, forcing incompatible behaviors into a shared parameter space and causing interference that scaling only partially mitigates. To address this, we propose MoEC, a Memory-Routed Mixture-of-Experts Controller for Adaptive Minecraft Control. MoEC routes via a subgoal-indexed, non-parametric expert memory and regulates capacity through failure-triggered expert growth and redundancy-aware consolidation. This design enables continual adaptation without full retraining, while maintaining parameter efficiency and with bounded inference cost. We evaluate MoEC on diverse and compositional Minecraft tasks, demonstrating significant gains in adaptability, robustness, and execution consistency over strong baselines, yielding a scalable and efficient alternative for open-ended control.

Enhancing Multimodal Large Language Models for Ancient Chinese Character Evolution Analysis via Glyph-Driven Fine-Tuning

Rui Song Jilin University, Lida Shi Jilin University, Ruihua Qi, Yingji Li, Hao Xu Jilin University

In recent years, rapid advances in Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) have increasingly stimulated research on ancient Chinese scripts. As the evolution of written characters constitutes a fundamental pathway for understanding cultural transformation and historical continuity, how MLLMs can be systematically leveraged to support and advance text evolution analysis remains an open and largely underexplored problem. To bridge this gap, we construct a comprehensive benchmark comprising 11 tasks and over 130,000 instances, specifically designed to evaluate the capability of MLLMs in analyzing the evolution of ancient Chinese scripts. We conduct extensive evaluations across multiple widely used MLLMs and observe that, while existing models demonstrate a limited ability in glyph-level comparison, their performance on core tasks-such as character recognition and evolutionary reasoning-remains substantially constrained. Motivated by these findings, we propose a glyph-driven fine-tuning framework (GEVO) that explicitly encourages models to capture evolutionary consistency in glyph transformations and enhances their understanding of text evolution. Experimental results show that even models at the 2B scale achieve consistent and comprehensive performance improvements across all evaluated tasks. To facilitate future research, we publicly release both the benchmark and the trained models.

SOCIA-EVO: Automated Simulator Construction via Dual-Anchored Bi-Level Optimization

Yuncheng Hua, Sion Weatherhead University of New South Wales, Mehdi Jafari, Hao Xue The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Flora D. Salim

Automated simulator construction requires distributional fidelity, distinguishing it from generic code generation. We identify two failure modes in long-horizon LLM agents: contextual drift and optimization instability arising from conflating structural and parametric errors. We propose SOCIA-EVO, a dual-anchored evolutionary framework. SOCIA-EVO introduces: (1) a static blueprint to enforce empirical constraints; (2) a bi-level optimization to decouple structural refinement from parameter calibration; and (3) a self-curating Strategy Playbook that manages remedial hypotheses via Bayesian-weighted retrieval. By falsifying ineffective strategies through execution feedback, SOCIA-EVO achieves robust convergence, generating simulators that are statistically consistent with observational data. SOCIA-EVO’s code and data are available here: https://github.com/cruiseresearchgroup/SOCIA/tree/evo.

Semantically Comprehensive Token Pruning in LVLMs via Maximizing Concept Coverage

Xueting Li, Qi Liu, Chenghao Xu Hohai University, Xu Yang, Guangtao Lyu, Jiahua Li Xidian University, Cheng Deng

High-resolution visual tokens impose substantial computational burdens owing to extreme redundancy in Large Visual Language Models (LVLMs). Existing visual token pruning methods typically leverage simple metrics derived from human experience, such as attention or similarity, to rank and select tokens within a highly entangled feature space. However, these metrics lack interpretability and often introduce human bias, failing to capture the genuine semantic significance of tokens, especially amidst the inherent semantic complexity and ambiguity of visual tokens. To mitigate this limitation, we propose a novel Semantically Comprehensive Token Selection (SCTS) method for unbiased, interpretable visual token pruning via a concept-driven paradigm. To unravel the model’s intrinsic semantic representation mechanism, we first introduce a Sparse Autoencoder to disentangle visual features into an interpretable space, with each dimension encoding a distinct semantic concept. We then formulate the token pruning task as a Maximum Concept Coverage problem, quantifying the Marginal Semantic Gain (MSG) of each token’s contribution to uncovered concepts and iteratively selecting tokens with the highest MSG. This concept-centric approach prioritizes tokens with unique semantic contributions, guaranteeing semantic comprehensiveness while preserving robust performance even at high compression ratios. Extensive experiments across multiple LVLM architectures and benchmarks verify that SCTS consistently outperforms state-of-the-art approaches, achieving a superior trade-off between computational efficiency and semantic completeness.

Why Supervised Fine-Tuning Fails to Learn: A Systematic Study of Incomplete Learning in Large Language Models

Chao Xue, Yao Wang, Mengqiao Liu, Di Liang, Xingsheng Han, Peiyang Liu, Xianjie Wu Beijing Information Science & Technology University, Chenyao Lu Tencent AI Lab 等 14 位作者

Supervised Fine-Tuning (SFT) is the standard approach for adapting large language models (LLMs) to downstream tasks. However, we observe a persistent failure mode: even after convergence, models often fail to correctly reproduce a subset of their own supervised training data. We refer to this behavior as the Incomplete Learning Phenomenon (ILP). This paper presents the first systematic study of ILP in LLM fine-tuning. We formalize ILP as post-training failure to internalize supervised instances and demonstrate its prevalence across multiple model families, domains, and datasets. Through controlled analyses, we identify five recurrent sources of incomplete learning: (1) missing prerequisite knowledge in the pre-trained model, (2) conflicts between SFT supervision and pre-training knowledge, (3) internal inconsistencies within SFT data, (4) left-side forgetting during sequential fine-tuning, and (5) insufficient optimization for rare or complex patterns. We introduce a diagnostic-first framework that maps unlearned samples to these causes using observable training and inference signals, and study several targeted mitigation strategies as causal interventions. Experiments on Qwen, LLaMA, and OLMo2 show that incomplete learning is widespread and heterogeneous, and that improvements in aggregate metrics can mask persistent unlearned subsets. The findings highlight the need for fine-grained diagnosis of what supervised fine-tuning fails to learn, and why.

The path to fully autonomous web agents is currently hindered by a critical bottleneck: their limited ability to handle CAPTCHA. Existing agent benchmarks largely ignore this practical challenge, failing to evaluate an agent’s real-world capacity to solve CAPTCHA. To bridge this gap, we conduct a comprehensive analysis of real-world CAPTCHA distributions and introduce MirrorCAPTCHA, a benchmark annotated with Weighted Pass Rate and a newly proposed metric Completion Degree. MirrorCAPTCHA is designed to serve as a “mirror” that faithfully reflects the automation capabilities of agents in real scenarios. We filter 2095 websites from Common Crawl, identify the CAPTCHA deployed on these sites, and cluster them into 18 distinct categories using K-means algorithm. To ensure practicality, we extract a web subgraph from Common Crawl covering these websites and use random walks to simulate real-world CAPTCHA encounter frequencies, yielding a realistic measure of agents’ ability. Additionally, we develop a lightweight synthetic data pipeline to train Ovis2-Agent-CAPTCHA-8B, which significantly outperforms current state-of-the-art closed-source models on MirrorCAPTCHA, achieving a 9.4% higher average Weighted Pass Rate and a 2.13% higher average Completion Degree than the runner-up, Gemini-2.5-Pro.

Parameter Importance is Not Static: Evolving Parameter Isolation for Supervised Fine-Tuning

Zekai Lin University of Glasgow, Chao Xue, Di Liang, Xingsheng Han, Peiyang Liu, Xianjie Wu Beijing Information Science & Technology University, Lei Jiang Tencent AI Lab, Yu Lu 等 11 位作者

Supervised Fine-Tuning (SFT) of large language models often suffers from task interference and catastrophic forgetting. Recent approaches alleviate this issue by isolating task-critical parameters during training. However, these methods represent a static solution to a dynamic problem, assuming that parameter importance remains fixed once identified. In this work, we empirically demonstrate that parameter importance exhibits temporal drift over the course of training. To address this, we propose Evolving Parameter Isolation (EPI), a fine-tuning framework that adapts isolation decisions based on online estimates of parameter importance. Instead of freezing a fixed subset of parameters, EPI periodically updates isolation masks using gradient-based signals, enabling the model to protect emerging task-critical parameters while releasing outdated ones to recover plasticity. Experiments on diverse multi-task benchmarks demonstrate that EPI consistently reduces interference and forgetting compared to static isolation and standard fine-tuning, while improving overall generalization. Our analysis highlights the necessity of synchronizing isolation mechanisms with the evolving dynamics of learning diverse abilities.

Long Context Modeling with Ranked Memory-Augmented Retrieval

Ghadir Alselwi, Hao Xue The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Shoaib Jameel University of Southampton, Basem Suleiman University of New South Wales, Flora D. Salim, Imran Razzak Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence

Effective long-term memory management is crucial for language models handling extended contexts. We introduce the Enhanced Ranked Memory Augmented Retrieval ERMAR framework, which dynamically ranks memory entries based on relevance. Unlike prior models, ERMAR employs a novel relevance scoring mechanism and a pointwise re-ranking model for key-value embeddings, inspired by learning-to-rank techniques in information retrieval. By integrating historical usage patterns and adaptive retrieval, ERMAR achieves state-of-the-art results on standard benchmarks, demonstrating superior scalability and performance in long-context tasks.
