High-fidelity diagram creation requires coordinated visual-spatial decisions over semantic topology, visual styling, and geometric layout. Existing methods face a representation gap: pixel-based generation offers limited object-level control, while code-based synthesis provides executable structure at the cost of intuitive manipulation. We introduce EvoDesign, an agentic framework for editable diagram creation through an intermediate canvas schema that is both machine-actionable and directly manipulable by users. EvoDesign first constructs a diagram manifest through coordinated structure, style, and layout agents, and then renders the manifest in a diagnostic verification environment. This environment produces objective defect signals and VLM-based critique, enabling localized refinement of the current diagram while also providing evidence for long-term design expertise evolution. The evolution mechanism distills refinement traces into a three-tier design expertise memory, where candidate strategies are linked to the verification evidence that supports them and are promoted into broader guidelines and principles only through repeated cross-context support. We further define CanvasBench, a canvas-recoverable benchmark and evaluation protocol with content, visual, and cognitive dimensions. Experiments across pixel, code-based, agentic, one-shot schema, and canvas-native methods show that EvoDesign provides the strongest overall balance across content fidelity, visual organization, and cognitive usability. $A^3$-VLA: Automatic Perception-Guided Attention Alignment for Robot Manipulation

Shengzhe Zhang, Qi Zhang, Dazhong Shen, Chao Wang, Shaopeng Zhai, Hui Xiong

原文摘要

Vision-Language-Action Models (VLAs) enable robots to perform manipulation tasks by leveraging Vision-Language Models (VLMs) to process visual observations and language instructions. However, the action prediction objective itself lacks fine-grained task-specific perceptual supervision, making it prone to relying on task-irrelevant visual shortcuts, leading attention away from target objects and key interaction areas, thereby limiting its operational performance and generalization ability. To address this, we propose Automatic Perception-Guided Attention Alignment for Robot Manipulation ($A^3$-VLA), a framework that derives task-specific visual guidance from the manipulation process itself. Specifically, $A^3$-VLA first generates heuristic candidate regions for target objects and the robot from interaction-induced visual changes, and refines them with a visual segmentation model offline. These regions serve as explicit perceptual guidance through two complementary objectives: an attention allocation loss that encourages sufficient focus on task-critical regions when language or robot state tokens query the visual input, and a contrastive learning loss that aligns the representations of candidate target regions with language instructions while separating them from task-irrelevant regions. Extensive experiments on simulated and real-world manipulation tasks demonstrate that $A^3$-VLA consistently improves multiple VLA backbones, with an average success rate gain of 6.5% - 25.2% across benchmarks.

Calibrating Multimodal Test-Time Adaptation under Reliability and Availability Modality Shifts

Jiangmeng Li, Jinglin Xu, Yi Li, Yumeng Liu, Jiahuan Zhou, Fanjiang Xu, Hui Xiong, Gang Hua

原文摘要

Multimodal test-time adaptation (TTA) enables pretrained multimodal models to accommodate distribution shifts during inference using only unlabeled test data, without recourse to the original training data. Compared with unimodal adaptation, multimodal adaptation is further complicated by the coexistence and interaction of multiple representation perspectives. This complexity is particularly pronounced under modality reliability shifts, which preserve modality availability but degrade information quality, and modality availability shifts, which render the corresponding modality entirely inaccessible. Category-conditional Gaussian modeling offers a natural starting point for handling such distributional variations, having proven effective in unimodal test-time adaptation for characterizing representation distributions, yet its extension to multimodal settings requires a more elaborate formulation. To this end, we propose Adaptive Probabilistic Gaussian Calibration (AdaPGC), which extends category-conditional Gaussian modeling across modality-specific and multimodal fusion representations for probabilistic calibration under multimodal distribution shifts. AdaPGC continuously updates category-conditional Gaussian models over modality-specific and fusion representations, using the resulting probabilistic predictions to calibrate source model predictions and guide reliability based rectification, while exploiting their joint distributions to recover unavailable fusion representations. Extensive experiments under diverse modality corruption and missingness conditions demonstrate that AdaPGC effectively improves robustness under both modality reliability and availability shifts. Our source code will be released at https://github.com/XuJinglinn/AdaPGC-plus.

The Platonic brain bridge hypothesis: brain networks as architectural priors for multimodal large language models

Pengfei Zhang, Biao Tian, Xiangang Li, Hui Xiong, Li Liu

原文摘要

Multimodal large language models predict brain activity, but brain alignment has been a measurement, not a design tool. We propose the Platonic brain bridge hypothesis: omni models, multimodal large language models that process video, audio and text jointly, converge on brain-like representations usable in both directions. From model to brain, brain-likeness of seven omni models is stable across participants, rises with every input channel in three bases, and our encoders lead the Algonauts 2025 out-of-distribution leaderboard. From brain to model, Brain-MoE fixes the expert partition of a frozen base to the seven networks of human cortex, trains experts on network-labelled Brain-AVQA questions, raises held-out accuracy in all 15 model-benchmark pairs by 6.42 percentage points on average and exceeds capacity-matched random experts in 14. Brain-Scope localizes the correspondence to sparse features whose removal weakens brain prediction. Human brain organization is therefore a usable architectural prior for multimodal large language models.

原文摘要

Event cameras offering high dynamic range and low latency have emerged as disruptive technologies in imaging. Despite growing research on leveraging these benefits for different imaging tasks, a comprehensive study of recently advances and challenges are still lacking. This limits the broader understanding of how to utilize events in universal imaging applications. In this survey, we first introduce a physical model and the characteristics of different event sensors as the foundation. Following this, we highlight the advancement and interaction of image/video enhancement tasks with events. Additionally, we explore advanced tasks, which capture richer light information with events, \eg~light field estimation, multi-view generation, and photometric. Finally, we discuss new challenges and open questions offering a perspective for this rapidly evolving field. Anti-Length Shift: Dynamic Outlier Truncation for Training Efficient Reasoning Models

Wei Wu, Liyi Chen Xiaohongshu Inc., Congxi Xiao University of Science and Technology of China, Tianfu Wang The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Qimeng Wang Xiaohongshu, Chengqiang Lu Xiaohongshu, Yan Gao, Yiwu Xiaohongshu 等 10 位作者

原文摘要

Large reasoning models enhanced by reinforcement learning with verifiable rewards have achieved significant performance gains by extending their chain-of-thought. However, this paradigm incurs substantial deployment costs as models often exhibit excessive verbosity on simple queries. Existing efficient reasoning methods relying on explicit length penalties often introduce optimization conflicts and leave the generative mechanisms driving overthinking largely unexamined. In this paper, we identify a phenomenon termed length shift where models increasingly generate unnecessary reasoning on trivial inputs during training. To address this, we introduce Dynamic Outlier Truncation (DOT), a training-time intervention that selectively suppresses redundant tokens. This method targets only the extreme tail of response lengths within fully correct rollout groups while preserving long-horizon reasoning capabilities for complex problems. To complement this intervention and ensure stable convergence, we further incorporate auxiliary KL regularization and predictive dynamic sampling. Experimental results across multiple model scales demonstrate that our approach significantly pushes the efficiency-performance Pareto frontier outward. Notably, on the AIME-24, our method reduces inference token usage by 78% while simultaneously increasing accuracy compared to the initial policy and surpassing state-of-the-art efficient reasoning methods.

GenDis: Generative-Discriminative Dual-View Co-Training for Generalized Category Discovery

原文摘要

Generalized Category Discovery (GCD) aims to identify both known and novel categories from partially labeled data, reflecting more realistic open-world learning scenarios. However, most existing methods rely solely on one-hot discriminative supervision, leading to overfitting on seen classes and poor generalization to unseen ones. Recent advances introduce large language models (LLMs) to incorporate external semantics, yet they often suffer from semantic–label misalignment and weak semantic integration during training. We propose GenDis, a Generative–Discriminative Dual-View Co-Training framework that unifies discriminative classification and semantic label generation within an LLM. Discriminative pseudo-labels guide the formation of a separable generative latent space, enabling semantically meaningful supervision for novel classes. To ensure consistency between the two views, we employ Canonical Correlation Analysis (CCA)-based alignment and a curriculum-guided, dispersion-aware pseudo-labeling strategy for iterative refinement. Extensive experiments on five GCD benchmarks demonstrate that GenDis substantially outperforms prior methods, validating the effectiveness of dual-view co-training with semantically enriched supervision. SiLP: Enhancing Non-Dominant Language Capabilities with a Selective Bidirectional Language Projection Framework

Junpeng Liu, Jiuyi Li Dalian University of Technology, Kaiyu Huang Beijing Jiaotong University, Bo Jin Dalian University of Technology, Degen Huang Fuyao University of Science and Technology, Hui Xiong Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou)

原文摘要

Current large language models (LLMs) often exhibit performance imbalances between dominant languages (e.g., English) and non-dominant ones due to the skewed distribution of pretraining data. A common strategy to address this issue is to enhance cross-lingual alignment, thereby facilitating non-dominant language processing. However, existing methods typically rely on additional training objectives or language-specific parameters, which increase training complexity and cost. In this work, we propose a selective bidirectional language projection framework that enables efficient multilingual alignment and language shift using the intrinsic parameters. Specifically, we first identify the layers most sensitive to language projection between non-dominant and dominant languages through neuron activation analysis. We then perform sequential language projection within the selected layers by mapping non-dominant representations into the dominant language space and reverting them before generation. The bidirectional projection benefits the subsequent instruction tuning in non-dominant languages. Experiments on seven benchmarks demonstrate that our method remarkably enhances the performance of non-dominant languages. Further analyses indicate that our method learns better internal representations and exhibits strong generalization capabilities.
