Are We Overthinking One-Step Generation?

Woobin Park, Jaeyeon Kim, Yilun Du, Sitan Chen, Bohyung Han

原文摘要

Diffusion and flow matching are now dominant frameworks for generative modeling in continuous domains, but they typically require multiple network evaluations at inference. This has motivated extensive research on one-step generative modeling primarily built on diffusion and flow, though existing approaches often rely on complex training machinery. In this work, we introduce Priming Models, a simple two-stage framework for training one-step generators. Motivated by the difficulty of distributional training from scratch, Priming Models are first trained on a reconstruction objective, e.g., pixel-space denoising at a fixed noise level, before undergoing feature-space distributional post-training. Our central scientific finding is that this simple reconstruction stage is already enough to entirely alleviate the difficulty of distributional training. Empirically, across class-conditional image generation, text-to-image generation, and world modeling, Priming Models significantly advance the Pareto frontier of training compute vs. generation quality. On ImageNet at $256 \times 256$ resolution, we achieve a state-of-the-art FID of $1.19$ among one-step generators using approximately one-tenth the training compute of prior methods with comparable FID. We open-source our codebase at https://github.com/JaeyeonKim01/priming.

Spatial Transfusion: From Structured Spatial Scene Understanding to Generation and Editing

Jaeyeon Kim, Sebastian Braun, Hannes Gamper

原文摘要

Spatial audio conveys not only what sounds are present, but where they originate and how they interact with the environment. Recent audio-language models increasingly understand and reason about such scenes, yet spatial audio understanding, generation, and editing remain largely separate. We present Spatial Transfusion, a unified first-order ambisonics (FOA) framework that extends a pretrained spatial audio understanding model to generation and editing through flow matching over VAE latents. We formulate editing as a structured scene transformation over a taxonomy of atomic edits. Keeping the pretrained backbone frozen, we introduce modality-based LoRA routing and a curriculum that progressively adds generation, editing, and natural-language interaction. Experiments show that Spatial Transfusion largely preserves spatial understanding while outperforming full fine-tuning in generation and editing. The resulting model supports controllable FOA generation and editing through both structured and natural-language interfaces. 原文摘要

Marine video understanding is crucial for a wide range of real-world applications. However, existing marine video datasets suffer from limitations, including the limited number of data samples, fine-grained text descriptions, and detailed visual attributes. To address these limitations, we introduce a large-scale, video-text dataset featuring rich, in-the-wild visual attributes tailored for complex marine environments. Our dataset comprises 2,000 video-text pairs annotated with 13 attributes covering up to four objects per scene, object visual/geometric properties, behaviors, environmental context, and camera motion, spanning diverse lighting conditions, times of day, and 7 countries. From these annotations, we generate 16,080 video-question pairs (12,080 multiple-choice, 4,000 open-ended). Furthermore, we benchmark both proprietary and open-source video-LLM models on video question answering and video captioning tasks. We find that (i) proprietary models often achieves superior performances; (ii) VLMs handle object motion well but struggle with complex camera motion; (iii) closed-source models struggle to perceive camera motion; and (iv) VLMs struggle to reason in static cameras.
