ToolSearcher: Optimizing Tool Selection at Scale via Reinforcement Learning

原文摘要

Large language models (LLMs) excel at natural language processing but struggle to interact with external environments. Tool learning provides a promising way to extend LLMs into actionable agents, where tool selection is a critical prerequisite for successful tool use. Existing work often assumes a small or predefined set of tools, leaving large-scale tool selection underexplored. Real-world repositories contain a vast and diverse array of tools, making it difficult for LLMs to effectively search, distinguish, and compose tools under context-length constraints. We identify large-scale tool selection as a new challenge for agentic reinforcement learning, highlighting that existing RL methods for knowledge-based question answering are inadequate for selecting tools while considering compatibility. To address this challenge, we propose ToolSearcher, a novel RL framework for effective multi-turn search and fine-grained optimization in large-scale tool selection. Specifically, we introduce category-constrained tool discrimination to improve the model's ability to distinguish functionally similar tools, event-level search modeling to explicitly optimize the discovery of target tools during multi-turn search, and trajectory-aligned credit allocation to provide fine-grained reward signals for different stages of the search-selection process. Extensive experiments on large-scale tool selection benchmarks demonstrate that ToolSearcher consistently outperforms a set of strong baselines in challenging settings involving iterative search and complex tool composition.

SleuthVLM: Do We Really Need Audio-in-Video for Omni Video Understanding?

原文摘要

Omni models answer questions about videos by jointly processing sampled frames and audio in one turn, with progress driven largely by scaling model size and omni training data. We ask whether a model needs to hear the audio directly at all, and present SleuthVLM, an agent harness built on a VLM that never hears the audio directly: speech will be transcribed into text, and the VLM will sleuth the video on its own without any predefined workflow. On four omni benchmarks with videos up to 90 minutes, SleuthVLM achieves the best average accuracy: \textbf{75.0%}, 2.6 points above Gemini 3.8 Flash, and it also tops the Video-MME-v2 leaderboard with \textbf{77.8%}; with an open-source 27B VLM, it beats all open-source omni models. We draw three findings: SleuthVLM beats a model that glances; hearing is not the bottleneck, agentic ability is; omni understanding needs better agentic ability, not just more omni data for modality alignment. So we provide a simple but effective starting point for doing omni video understanding. Omni understanding needs better agents, not just bigger models that hear.

Reinforcement Learning in GUI Agents: A Survey Toward Digital Inhabitants

原文摘要

Graphical User Interface (GUI) agents have emerged as a promising paradigm for intelligent systems that perceive and interact with graphical interfaces visually. Yet supervised fine-tuning alone cannot handle long-horizon credit assignment, distribution shifts, and safe exploration in irreversible environments, making Reinforcement Learning (RL) a central methodology for advancing automation. In this work, we present the first comprehensive overview of the intersection between RL and GUI agents, and examine how this research direction may evolve toward digital inhabitants. We propose a principled taxonomy that organizes existing methods into Offline RL, Online RL, and Hybrid Strategies, and complement it with analyses of reward engineering, data efficiency, and key technical innovations. Our analysis reveals several emerging trends: the tension between reliability and scalability is motivating the adoption of composite, multi-tier reward architectures; GUI I/O latency bottlenecks are accelerating the shift toward world-model-based training, which can yield substantial performance gains; and the spontaneous emergence of System-2-style deliberation suggests that explicit reasoning supervision may not be necessary when sufficiently rich reward signals are available. We distill these findings into a roadmap covering process rewards, continual RL, cognitive architectures, and safe deployment, aiming to guide the next generation of robust GUI automation and its agent-native infrastructure.

Your Trust, Your Terms: A General Paradigm for Near-Instant Cross-Chain Transfer

Di Wu, Jingyu Liu, Xuechao Wang, Jian Liu, Yingjie Xue, Kui Ren, Chun Chen

原文摘要

Cross-chain transactions today remain slow, costly, and fragmented. Existing custodial exchanges expose users to counterparty and centralization risks, while non-custodial liquidity bridges suffer from capital inefficiency and slow settlement; critically, neither approach guarantees users a unilateral path to recover assets if the infrastructure fails. We introduce the Delegated Ownership Transfer (DOT) paradigm, which decouples key ownership from value ownership to enable secure, high-performance cross-chain payments. In DOT, a user deposits funds into a sandboxed on-chain Temporary Account (TA) (value ownership) while delegating its private key (key ownership) to an abstract Trusted Entity (TE). Payments and swaps are thus reframed as near-instant, off-chain ownership handoffs. Security follows from dual guarantees: the TE's exclusive control prevents double-spending, while a pre-signed, unilateral recovery transaction ensures users retain ultimate authority over their assets. Building on this foundation, we design a novel off-chain atomic swap that executes optimistically in near real time and remains fair even if the TE fails. We formalize the security of DOT in the Universal Composability framework and present two concrete instantiations: a high-performance design based on Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs) and a cryptographically robust variant leveraging threshold cryptography. Our geo-distributed prototype shows that cross-chain payments complete in under 16.70 ms and atomic swaps in under 33.09 ms, with costs fully decoupled from Layer-1 gas fees. These results provide a practical blueprint for building secure, efficient, and interoperable cross-chain payment systems.

Diffusion Masked Pretraining for Dynamic Point Cloud

Zhuoyue Zhang, Yiding Sun, Chaowei Fang, Haozhe Cheng, Jian Liu, Ajmal Saeed Mian, Jihua Zhu

原文摘要

Dynamic point cloud pretraining is still dominated by masked reconstruction objectives. However, these objectives inherit two key limitations. Existing methods inject ground-truth tube centers as decoder positional embeddings, causing spatio-temporal positional leakage. Moreover, they supervise inter-frame motion with deterministic proxy targets that systematically discard distributional structure by collapsing multimodal trajectory uncertainty into conditional means. To address these limitations, we propose Diffusion Masked Pretraining (DiMP), a unified self-supervised framework for dynamic point clouds. DiMP introduces diffusion modeling into both positional inference and motion learning. It first applies forward diffusion noise only to masked tube centers, then predicts clean centers from visible spatio-temporal context. This removes positional leakage while preserving visible coordinates as clean temporal anchors. DiMP also reformulates point-wise inter-frame displacement supervision as a DDPM noise-prediction objective conditioned on decoded representations. This design drives the encoder to target the full conditional distribution of plausible motions under a variational surrogate, rather than collapsing to a single deterministic estimate. Extensive experiments demonstrate that DiMP consistently improves downstream accuracy over the backbone alone, with absolute gains of 11.21\% on offline action segmentation and 13.65\% under causally constrained online inference. Code is available at https://github.com/InitalZ/DiMP.

原文摘要

Real-world forgery is inherently heterogeneous: it manifests not only as digital manipulation but also as physical spoofing, and is carried not only by images but also by videos. Despite substantial progress, a unified anti-forgery foundation model covering such a broad threat spectrum remains absent. In this paper, we present Venus-DefakerOne2, which substantially extends the forensic capability boundary along both the forgery-form and media-type dimensions. Trained on tens of millions of open-source and in-house samples, it incorporates two key designs. Tide-Style-Tuning alternates LoRA and full-parameter fine-tuning to balance computational efficiency, generalization, and hard-sample fitting while mitigating catastrophic forgetting. Entropy-based Test Adaptation determines the optimal prediction modality by analyzing prediction entropy. Venus-DefakerOne2 achieves new state-of-the-art performance across a comprehensive suite of benchmarks, including DeepFake faces (96.7%), AI-generated images (93.3%), tampered documents (87.6%), manipulated natural images (89.6%), physical spoofs (93.1%), and AI-generated videos (96.0%). It significantly outperforms both specialized expert models and its predecessor, DefakerOne, establishing itself as a powerful and versatile foundation model for binary-decision forensic tasks.

EV9V: An Echocardiographic Video Benchmark with Uncertainty Guided View Classification

原文摘要

Automated classification of standard echocardiographic views is crucial for efficient clinical workflow but faces three main challenges. First, publicly available datasets are scarce and limited in scale and view coverage. Second, the performance of some modern video-level architectures for echocardiographic view classification remains underexplored. Third, some view categories exhibit highly similar spatial appearances, making single-frame features insufficient for discrimination, while heterogeneous frame quality complicates robust temporal information fusion. To address these challenges, we release the Echocardiographic Videos of Nine Views (EV9V) dataset, comprising 5,138 videos, 910,579 frames, and 9 standard views, which is, to the best of our knowledge, the largest openly released echocardiography video dataset. Furthermore, we propose a Spatio-Temporal Fusion Model (STFM), an efficient dual-stream framework that jointly captures spatial anatomical structures and temporal cardiac dynamics. The STFM leverages uncertainty-aware learning to preferentially sample representative video segments during training and evidence-based fusion during inference, improving robustness to variations in frame quality across echocardiographic videos. Extensive experiments demonstrate that STFM achieves competitive performance and effectiveness compared with diverse video classification architectures, including two-dimensional and three-dimensional convolutional neural networks, recurrent neural networks, and Transformers. The code is released at https://huggingface.co/datasets/bgx666/EV9V and the EV9V dataset is available at https://github.com/bgx666/stfm.

ReplayFactor: Replay-Aware Dual-Attribute Learning for Practical Speech Deepfake Detection

原文摘要

Advances in synthesis techniques have made deepfake speech increasingly realistic, amplifying voice security threats, including unauthorized voice cloning and impersonation. Although existing deepfake detectors perform well on digitally generated speech, their performance often degrades on physically replayed deepfakes, which constitute a low-cost and practical threat to real-world systems. Existing research focuses primarily on dataset construction and evaluation, while available dataset diversity and replay-aware detector design remain limited. We propose ReplayFactor, a dual-attribute framework that enhances replay evidence by fusing self-supervised learning (SSL) representations with an acoustic prior, while leveraging multi-task learning and supervised contrastive learning to promote robust, generalizable representations. We also construct ReplayFake-CN, a large-scale, multi-device Chinese dataset comprising approximately 185k replayed synthetic utterances to complement public benchmarks. Our framework improves macro-F1 from 60.99% to 76.44% and reduces EER from 11.86% to 3.05% on the EchoFake open set over the baseline, demonstrating strong potential for practical replayed deepfake detection.

原文摘要

Language-conditioned goal navigation requires embodied agents to locate user-specified targets without step-by-step guidance. However, existing benchmarks largely focus on category-level goals or rely on instance descriptions generated by vision-language models, which often contain ambiguities and semantic errors, limiting systematic and reliable evaluation. We introduce HieraNav, an open-vocabulary navigation task with goals at four hierarchical semantic levels: scene, room, region, and instance. We present Language as a Map (LangMap), the first goal navigation benchmark to enrich real-world indoor 3D scans with human-verified semantic annotations supporting tasks across all four goal levels. Built on HM3D using a contrastive annotation protocol that compares same-scene regions and instances, LangMap provides region labels and discriminative region and instance descriptions covering 414 object categories and contains over 18K tasks. Each target has concise and detailed descriptions, enabling evaluation across instruction styles. Automated and human evaluations validate our annotation quality: our descriptions improve text-to-view matching accuracy over GOAT-Bench's by 23 points on all shared annotated instances, and an independent human audit yields 92.5% unique-and-correct matches. We also propose PlaNaVid, an RGB-only baseline that combines Bounded Diverse Memory with high-level planning to prime a reactive policy for multi-goal navigation, achieving top-tier success rates without depth, 3D scene representations, or object masks. Further analyses reveal that exploration and hierarchical disambiguation failures become more prominent at finer goal levels, while long-tail categories, small objects, distant targets, timely stopping, and multi-goal completion remain challenging. ProactiveEval: A Unified Evaluation Framework for Proactive Dialogue Agents

Tianjian Liu, Fanqi Wan Stepfun, Jiajian Guo, Xiaojun Quan Shenzhen Loop Area Institute

原文摘要

Proactive dialogue has emerged as a critical and challenging research problem in advancing large language models (LLMs). Existing works predominantly focus on domain-specific or task-oriented scenarios, which leads to fragmented evaluations and limits the comprehensive exploration of models’ proactive dialogue abilities. In this work, we propose ProactiveEval, a unified framework for evaluating proactive dialogue capabilities of LLMs. This framework decomposes proactive dialogue into target planning and dialogue guidance, establishing evaluation metrics across various domains. Moreover, it also enables the automatic generation of diverse and challenging evaluation data. Based on the proposed framework, we develop 328 evaluation environments spanning 6 distinct domains. Through experiments with 22 different types of LLMs, we show that DeepSeek-R1 and Claude-3.7-Sonnet exhibit exceptional performance on target planning and dialogue guidance tasks, respectively. Finally, we investigate how reasoning capabilities influence proactive behaviors and discuss their implications for future model development. Our code and data are available at the https://github.com/liutj9/ProactiveEval.
