JevVLA: Jev-Inspired Energy-Based Adaptation for Vision-Language-Action Policies

Wei Wang, Wenqiao Zhang, Zheqi Lv, Zheng Dong, Yingjie Niu, Jiaqi Zhu, Jun Xiao, Chao Li 等 9 位作者

Vision-language-action (VLA) policies can select among discrete candidates for pick-and-place manipulation or generate continuous action chunks for motion control. Improving both forms of decision making through a common mechanism while retaining the capabilities of a pretrained policy is an important adaptation problem. Inspired by Jev's structured, probabilistic decision interface, we propose JevVLA, a lightweight energy-based adaptation framework for VLA policies. JevVLA instantiates this inspiration by modeling the relative quality of action proposals: with the base policy frozen, it learns a differentiable scalar energy conditioned on observations, task context, and actions, using execution feedback, expert corrections, or demonstration-derived preferences. JevVLA uses this single learned action preference function in two ways: its values compare discrete candidates, while its action gradients correct continuous actions or guide their generation. Candidate selection and continuous control thus share one trainable decision core. Each benchmark uses independently trained weights and fixed input/output encodings, while retaining the same core network with approximately 80,000 trainable parameters. On the held-out test sets, JevVLA improves task success over the respective matched base-policy controls by 1.28, 2.31, 1.60, 1.52, and 1.28 percentage points on MetaWorld MT50, VIMA, LanguageTable, LIBERO Plus, and CLIPort, respectively. These results support the feasibility of a lightweight, Jev-inspired energy model for adapting both discrete action selection and continuous action guidance. The JevVLA implementation will be open-sourced at https://github.com/ZJU4EmbodiedAI/JevVLA.

ProductResearch: Training E-Commerce Deep Research Agents via Multi-Agent Synthetic Trajectory Distillation

Jiangyuan Wang, Kejun Xiao, Huaipeng Zhao, Tao Luo, Xiaoyi Zeng

Large Language Model (LLM)-based agents show promise for e-commerce conversational shopping, yet existing implementations lack the interaction depth and contextual breadth required for complex product research. Meanwhile, the Deep Research paradigm, despite advancing information synthesis in web search, suffers from domain gaps when transferred to e-commerce. We propose ProductResearch, a multi-agent framework that synthesizes high-fidelity, long-horizon tool-use trajectories for training robust e-commerce shopping agents. The framework employs a User Agent to infer nuanced shopping intents from behavioral histories, and a Supervisor Agent that orchestrates iterative collaboration with a Research Agent to generate synthetic trajectories culminating in comprehensive, insightful product research reports. These trajectories are rigorously filtered and distilled through a reflective internalization process that consolidates multi-agent supervisory interactions into coherent single-role training examples, enabling effective fine-tuning of LLM agents for complex shopping inquiries. Extensive experiments show that a compact MoE model fine-tuned on our synthetic data achieves substantial improvements over its base model in response comprehensiveness, research depth, and user-perceived utility, approaching the performance of frontier proprietary deep research systems and establishing multi-agent synthetic trajectory training as an effective and scalable paradigm for enhancing LLM-based shopping assistance.

CoVerRL: Breaking the Consensus Trap in Label-Free Reasoning via Generator-Verifier Co-Evolution

Teng Pan, Yuchen Yan Zhejiang University, Zixuan Wang Zhejiang University and Baidu, Ruiqing Zhang, Guiyang Hou, Wenqi Zhang Zhejiang University, Weiming Lu Zhejiang University, Jun Xiao Zhejiang University 等 9 位作者

Label-free reinforcement learning enables large language models to improve reasoning capabilities without ground-truth supervision, typically by treating majority-voted answers as pseudo-labels. However, we identify a critical failure mode: as training maximizes self-consistency, output diversity collapses, causing the model to confidently reinforce systematic errors that evade detection. We term this the consensus trap. To escape it, we propose CoVerRL, a framework where a single model alternates between generator and verifier roles, with each capability bootstrapping the other. Majority voting provides noisy but informative supervision for training the verifier, while the improving verifier progressively filters self-consistent errors from pseudo-labels. This co-evolution creates a virtuous cycle that maintains high reward accuracy throughout training. Experiments across Qwen and Llama model families demonstrate that CoVerRL outperforms label-free baselines by 4.7-5.9% on mathematical reasoning benchmarks. Moreover, self-verification accuracy improves from around 55% to over 85%, confirming that both capabilities genuinely co-evolve.

PILOT: Planning via Internalized Latent Optimization Trajectories for Large Language Models

Haoyu Zheng, Yun Zhu Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, Yuqian Yuan Qwen Team and Zhejiang University, Bo Yuan, Wenqiao Zhang Zhejiang University, Siliang Tang Zhejiang University, Jun Xiao Zhejiang University

Strategic planning is critical for multi-step reasoning, yet compact Language Language Models (LLMs) often lack the capacity to formulate global strategies, leading to error propagation in long-horizon tasks. Our analysis reveals that LLMs possess latent reasoning capabilities that can be unlocked when conditioned on explicit plans from a teacher model; however, runtime reliance on external guidance is often impractical due to latency and availability constraints. To bridge this gap, we propose PILOT (Planning via Internalized Latent Optimization Trajectories), a non-invasive framework designed to internalize the strategic oversight of large models into intrinsic Latent Guidance. Instead of altering backbone weights, PILOT employs a lightweight Hyper-Network to synthesize a query-conditioned Latent Guidance. This vector acts as an internal steering mechanism, guiding the model’s representations toward optimal reasoning paths. Extensive experiments on mathematical and coding benchmarks demonstrate that PILOT effectively stabilizes reasoning trajectories, consistently outperforming strong baselines (e.g., +8.9% on MATH500) with negligible inference latency. OctoBench: Benchmarking Scaffold-Aware Instruction Following in Repository-Grounded Agentic Coding

Deming Ding Large Language Model Algorithm Engineer, Shichun Liu, Enhui Yang, Jiahang Lin, Ziying Chen, Shihan Dou, Honglin Guo Fudan University, Weiyu Cheng Minimax Ai 等 15 位作者

Modern coding scaffolds turn LLMs into capable software agents, but their ability to follow scaffold-specified instructions remains under-examined, especially when constraints are heterogeneous and persist across interactions. To fill this gap, we introduce OctoBench, which benchmarks scaffold-aware instruction following in repository-grounded agentic coding. OctoBench includes 34 environments and 217 tasks instantiated under three scaffold types, and is paired with 7,098 objective checklist items. To disentangle solving the task from following the rules, we provide an automated observation-and-scoring toolkit that captures full trajectories and performs fine-grained checks. Experiments on eight representative models reveal a systematic gap between task-solving and scaffold-aware compliance, underscoring the need for training and evaluation that explicitly targets heterogeneous instruction following. We will release the benchmark to support reproducible benchmarking and to accelerate the development of more scaffold-aware coding agents.

Large Language Model-Enhanced Multi-Armed Bandits

Jiahang Sun, Zhiyong Wang Chinese University of Hong Kong, Runhan Yang, Chenjun Xiao The Chinese University of Hong Kong, John C.S. Lui, Zhongxiang Dai The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen

Large language models (LLMs) have been applied to sequential decision-making tasks like multi-armed bandits (MAB), where an LLM is tasked with selecting arms in each iteration. However, this direct arm selection approach is often suboptimal. We propose an alternative method combining classical MAB algorithms with LLMs. Specifically, we use a classical MAB framework and leverage the in-context learning capability of LLMs for reward prediction. First, we integrate the LLM-based predictor into Thompson sampling (TS) with a decaying temperature schedule to balance exploration and exploitation. We also incorporate the predictor into a regression oracle-based MAB algorithm with explicit exploration. Additionally, we extend our TS-based algorithm to dueling bandits, where only preference feedback between arm pairs is available, requiring significant algorithmic modifications. Our empirical evaluations on synthetic MAB tasks show that our algorithms outperform LLM-based direct arm selection. In experiments on real-world text datasets, we demonstrate that, in tasks where arms lack exploitable semantic meaning, our approach delivers significantly better performance than direct arm selection.

Experience-driven Multi-turn Reinforcement Learning for GUI Agents

Zhengxi Lu, Jiabo Ye, Fei Tang Nankai University, Yongliang Shen Zhejiang University, Haiyang Xu, Ziwei Zheng Xi'an Jiaotong University, Weiming Lu Zhejiang University, Ming Yan Alibaba Group 等 11 位作者

GUI agents have demonstrated remarkable progress in automating complex user interface interactions. However, training such agents for long-horizon tasks remains challenging. Single-turn reinforcement learning conditions on expert histories during training but self-generated histories during deployment, causing distribution mismatch. Online multi-turn methods eliminate this gap via environment interaction but suffer from sparse rewards and prohibitive costs. We propose \underline{\textbf{E}}xperience-driven \underline{\textbf{M}}ulti-turn \underline{\textbf{P}}olicy \underline{\textbf{O}}ptimization (\textbf{EMPO}), which leverages expert trajectories as environment experiences for on-policy multi-turn training. The agent constructs self-generated history throughout rollouts; when actions match expert experiences, the trajectory provides valid state transitions, and a Patch Module recovers mismatched steps to maintain on-policy rollouts. EMPO further incorporates discounted future rewards and dual-level advantage estimation to capture long-horizon dependencies. We also propose \textbf{AndroidControl-Real}, an evaluation metric strongly correlated with real-world performance (R^2=0.934). With only 1K public trajectories as RL experiences, our method achieves substantial gains over the base model (e.g., +12.0% on AndroidWorld and +23.8% on AITW) and achieves competitive performance against strong baselines such as UI-TARS-7B and GPT-4o, demonstrating better generalization than prior single-turn RL approaches. APB-V: Accelerating Long-Video Understanding via Sequence-Parallelism-aware Approximate Attention

Yuxiang Huang Tsinghua University, Mingye Li, Xu Han Tsinghua University, Tsinghua University, Chaojun Xiao, Weilin Zhao Tsinghua University, Tsinghua University, Ao Sun, Ziqi Yuan, Hao Zhou Tencent 等 10 位作者

The efficiency of long-video inference remains a critical bottleneck, mainly due to the dense computation in the prefill stage of Large Multimodal Models (LMMs). Existing methods either compress visual embeddings or apply sparse attention on a single GPU, yielding limited acceleration or degraded performance and restricting LMMs from handling longer, more complex videos. To overcome these issues, we propose APB-V, a sequence-parallel framework with optimized attention that accelerates long-video inference across multiple GPUs. By distributing approximate attention, APB-V reduces computation and increases parallelism, enabling efficient processing of more visual embeddings without compression and thereby improving task performance. System-level optimizations, such as load balancing and fused forward passes, further unleash the potential of APB-V, delivering speedups of 12.72x, 1.70x, and 1.18x over FlashAttn, ZigZagRing, and APB, without notable performance loss.

UI-Copilot: Advancing Long-Horizon GUI Automation via Tool-Integrated Policy Optimization

Zhengxi Lu, Fei Tang Nankai University, Guangyi Liu, Jin Ma, Kaitao Song Apple, Xu Tan, Wenqi Zhang Zhejiang University, Weiming Lu Zhejiang University 等 11 位作者

MLLM-based GUI agents have demonstrated strong capabilities in complex user interface interaction tasks. However, long-horizon scenarios remain challenging, as these agents are burdened with tasks beyond their intrinsic capabilities, suffering from memory degradation, progress confusion, and math hallucination. To address these challenges, we present \textbf{UI-Copilot}, a collaborative framework where the GUI agent focuses on task execution while a lightweight copilot provides on-demand assistance for memory retrieval and numerical computation. We introduce memory decoupling to separate persistent observations from transient execution context, and train the policy agent to selectively invoke the copilot as Retriever or Calculator based on task demands. To enable effective tool invocation learning, we propose \underline{\textbf{T}}ool-\underline{\textbf{I}}ntegrated \underline{\textbf{P}}olicy \underline{\textbf{O}}ptimization (\textbf{TIPO}), which separately optimizes tool selection through single-turn prediction and task execution through on-policy multi-turn rollouts. Experimental results show that UI-Copilot-7B achieves state-of-the-art performance on challenging MemGUI-Bench, outperforming strong 7B-scale GUI agents such as GUI-Owl-7B and UI-TARS-1.5-7B. Moreover, UI-Copilot-7B delivers a 17.1% absolute improvement on AndroidWorld over the base Qwen model, highlighting UI-Copilot’s strong generalization to real-world GUI tasks.
