LLM-guided evolutionary search uses AI agents to improve programs for mathematical and computational problems by iteratively refining solutions and combining high-scoring methods. However, the process is often slow because the LLM generates a long textual chain of thought for each round and must repeat this generation many times to maintain population diversity. We present SwarmEvolve, a framework in which hundreds of low-cost agents per round work in swarms, reason in latent space without decoding to text, and share information by passing KV caches. Each swarm studies the problem from a different angle. A novelty filter keeps the most distinct agent ideas by directly measuring the distances between the agents' hidden state vectors. Crossover of ideas happens naturally in latent space, as a summarizer agent receives the combined KV caches of all swarm members. On 21 problems in mathematical discovery and scientific computing, SwarmEvolve gets the highest average score and needs a median of only 3 to 8 minutes to reach the best scores that other state-of-the-art frameworks reach in 60 minutes. On several problems, SwarmEvolve with Qwen3 8B improves on the solutions that AlphaEvolve first found with frontier LLMs. Our work shows that agent swarms that communicate in latent space offer a fast, low-cost approach to program search for scientific problems.

PanoWorld: Geometry-Consistent Panoramic Video World Modeling

原文摘要

We present PanoWorld, a panoramic video world model that generates geometry-consistent 360$\degree$ video from a single image and a caption. Existing panoramic video methods optimize primarily for visual realism and do not explicitly constrain the underlying 3D scene state, producing outputs that appear plausible yet exhibit inconsistent depth, broken correspondences, and implausible motion across the spherical surface. We address this gap by framing panoramic video generation as a geometry- and dynamics-consistent latent state modeling problem rather than pure visual synthesis. Building on a pre-trained perspective video world model, we introduce two lightweight regularizers: a depth consistency loss against pseudo ground-truth panoramic depth, and a trajectory consistency loss that supervises the 3D world-frame positions of tracked points across time. We further apply spherical-geometry-aware adaptation to the conditioning and positional encoding. We additionally introduce PanoGeo, a unified geometry-aware panoramic video dataset with consistent depth, trajectory, and prompt annotations across diverse real and synthetic sources, used for both training and stratified evaluation. Experiments show that PanoWorld improves geometric consistency over prior panoramic generation methods while maintaining competitive visual realism, establishing that panoramic video generation must be treated as a geometric modeling problem to support the holistic spatial understanding requirements of embodied AI applications. How Much Can Approximate Equilibria Change the Social Cost of Selfish Routing?

Yu Cheng, Tianle Jiang

原文摘要

We study approximate Nash equilibria in nonatomic congestion games, with the goal of understanding how much the social cost can change when the equilibrium condition is relaxed. We consider $ε$-approximate Nash equilibria ($ε$-NE), in which each player uses a strategy whose cost is at most $1 + ε$ times the minimum available cost. We compare the social costs of $ε$-NE and exact Nash equilibria. This lets us quantify, for example, how much a navigation app can reduce total travel time when drivers tolerate routes slightly slower than the fastest available route. For degree-$d$ polynomial latencies in both general nonatomic congestion games and single-commodity routing games on series-parallel networks, we give tight lower and upper bounds on the relative change in social cost from an exact Nash equilibrium to any $ε$-NE, with matching instances for every $ε$. For small $ε$, the largest possible relative reduction and increase in general congestion games are both $Θ(\sqrt{dε})$, independently of the number of resources and populations. In contrast, on series-parallel networks of depth $h$, the largest possible relative reduction is $Θ(hε)$, while the largest possible relative increase is known to be $ε$. For the classes of games we study, these results give a tight and quantitative characterization of the possible changes in social cost and establish a separation between general and series-parallel networks.
