GSCV++:基于标准视频编解码器的轻量级3D高斯泼溅序列压缩

GSCV++: Lightweight 3D Gaussian Splatting Sequence Compression via Standard Video Codecs

Qi Yang, Yingzhan Xu, Kai Zhang, Li Zhang

AI 速览:提出一种轻量级3D高斯泼溅序列压缩流程,通过改进预处理、3D到2D映射与视频编码配置,借助标准视频编解码器实现压缩。

This paper presents GSCV++, a lightweight pipeline for 3D {G}aussian {S}platting (GS) sequences {C}ompression with standard {V}ideo codecs. To meet the requirements of low-complexity and hardware compatibility from the industry, GSCV++ jointly improves preprocessing, 3D-to-2D mapping, and practical video compression configuration of GS compression. First, for preprocessing, energy-adaptive inter-frame spherical harmonic (SH) alternative current (AC) dimensionality reduction (EA-SHDR) is proposed to produces a compact and stable temporal SH AC feature space. It can reduce the data volume of following mapping and practical compression, as well as less complexity while eliminating redundant information. Second, for 3D-to-2D mapping, prior-based Inter-MiniPLAS (P-MiniPLAS) is designed to generate smooth 2D feature maps through prior-based weighting factor inference and small scale remapping. Compared with vanilla Parallel Linear Assignment Sorting (PLAS) and Morton scan, P-MiniPLAS ensures the generated 2D maps are more suitable for the video codec while maintaining a low level of computational complexity. Third, for practical compression, content-aware generalized compression (CA-GC) is developed to use a non-uniform bit-depth split for coordinate map generation, and a coding unit size selection is introduced for efficient compression complexity control, which fully exploits the performance of video codecs without involving normative changes. Experiments demonstrate that GSCV++ reports over 20\% in intra- and 60\% in inter-prediction rate-distortion gains compared with state-of-the-art (SOTA) methods. GSCV++ also achieves faster 2D map generation, encoding, and decoding than other SOTA methods using the same type of video codecs. Ablation studies verify the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed modules and provide insights for subsequent research.

AI 速览:提出首个无需训练、以文本引导编辑眼科手术视频的框架,通过二阶ODE反演与注意力Value张量注入,在保持眼部解剖结构的同时实现器械替换与手术阶段变化。

High-fidelity surgical video generation holds great promise for medical training and AI development, yet precise, controllable editing of such videos remains a formidable challenge. Modifying surgical attributes such as instrument, tissue interactions or procedural phases is particularly difficult due to the strict anatomical and temporal constraints of ophthalmic procedures. We introduce OphEdit, the first training-free framework for text-guided editing of ophthalmic surgical videos. Our approach uses a deterministic second-order ODE inversion pipeline to capture attention Value tensors from the source video and selectively injects them into the conditional branch of classifier-free guidance during denoising, preserving the intricate anatomical geometry of the eye while mapping text-driven semantic modifications onto the video. Clinical evaluation by an ophthalmologist shows that OphEdit handles complex transformations, such as instrument swaps and procedural variations, with superior structural fidelity and temporal consistency compared to adapted general-domain video editors, offering a scalable route to diverse surgical training data. The code and prompts can be accessed at https://github.com/ophedit/OphEdit

深入记忆:DeepMem 因果多尺度字节级语言模型

Going Deeper With Memories

Afshin Khadangi

AI 速览:DeepMem 通过可逆子带变换与快权重记忆,把语义压缩与字节精确保留分离,在字节级语言建模上取得优于匹配 Transformer 的表现。

Byte level language models avoid tokenizer dependence and provide universal coverage, but processing every byte at full resolution is expensive. We introduce DeepMem, a causal multiscale architecture that separates semantic compression from exact byte preservation. A learned invertible subband transform constructs a hierarchy of shorter sequences, while a lossless carrier and explicit detail sidebands preserve byte identity. Fast weight memory blocks operate along the encoder, with iterative shared state computation at the compressed bottleneck, while an attention based super resolution decoder restores byte resolution representations. DeepMem achieves stronger language modeling performance than a matched byte level Transformer on FineWeb-Edu and PG19, and obtains the best macro average performance across the evaluated FLORES languages. It also improves PIQA accuracy while remaining competitive on code modeling, multiple choice reasoning, and byte level corruption robustness. Bottleneck refinement requires approximately $7{,}600\times$ fewer counted FLOPs than equivalent full resolution reasoning, while maintaining competitive evaluation throughput.

基于遍历马尔可夫链的可解释社交网络流失预测

Interpretable Social Network Churn Prediction via Ergodic Markov Chains

AI 速览:作者提出一种无需标签、仅依赖SQL的Health Ratio指标,通过贡献者角色马尔可夫链的有限步参与度投影来预测社交网络流失。

Predicting social network churn before it becomes visible in aggregate metrics remains an open challenge, particularly in enterprise settings where heterogeneous usage patterns, sparse data, and deployment constraints preclude standard supervised approaches. We formalize this problem as finite-step engagement projection over contributor-role Markov chains, with a stationary-distribution interpretation for ergodic chains in the long-run limit. For each engagement feature type within a network (e.g., Q&A, communities, articles, etc.), users are classified monthly into four behavioral states and a transition matrix is estimated from six months of history. Six-step propagation yields a label-free projection of the contributor mix; for ergodic chains, the Perron-Frobenius theorem establishes convergence under repeated propagation. Comparing projected future engagement to current engagement produces the Health Ratio, a single score requiring no trained model, no labels, and no infrastructure beyond SQL. Validated across seven rolling prediction windows on 11,500+ tenant-level networks, the Health Ratio achieves mean AUC 0.917 with a 156 times churn-rate gradient across risk tiers, outperforming all single-signal baselines and the growth-adjusted variant previously deployed in production. An ablation study shows that six-step propagation achieves similar churn discrimination to the eigenvector-based score. Deployed on Microsoft Engage since October 2025, the framework powers customer health monitoring and has enabled proactive intervention on at-risk networks before decline becomes visible in traditional metrics.

Reality and Perceptual Gaps in Expressive Swarm Robotics

AI 速览:同一套去中心化协调代码在三类机器人群体上运行,作者报告物理形态会显著改变可见运动,且观众的意义归因与情绪反应并不一致。

Moving robot swarms from simulation into the physical world can be difficult because small discrepancies in hardware, timing and communication can cascade across interacting robots and alter group behaviour. This challenge is known as the reality gap. When swarms operate in human environments, a second challenge emerges: a perceptual gap between what the swarm physically does and what human onlookers actually perceive. This study examines the same decentralised coordination code deployed across three robotic swarms-tabletop, aerial and human-scale mobile manipulators-during live artistic performances. We find that while the underlying algorithms executed reliably on all three platforms, physical embodiment drastically altered visible motion-distorting execution timescales by more than a factor of three and reshaping trajectory geometry. More importantly, audience surveys revealed that human interpretation does not mirror technical success: how observers attribute meaning (perceived purpose) and how they react emotionally (comfort versus threat) depend heavily on physical form. Meaning attribution and emotional responses did not vary together. Our results demonstrate that successfully transferring swarm software to physical hardware is insufficient for real-world deployment. Addressing the reality gap does not guarantee that the resulting collective motion will be readily interpreted by human observers. Swarms destined for human environments must be engineered not only for decentralised stability but also for the expressive physical dynamics through which humans interpret collective motion.

Empirical Bayes Flow Matching for Continuous Cryo-EM Heterogeneity

Daniel Aibinder, Azmi Haider, Dan Rosenbaum

We address the problem of learning generative priors over high-dimensional latent variables from indirect, noisy observations, with a focus on continuous heterogeneity in cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM). In this setting, 3D atomic structures $x \in \mathbb{R}^{3N_a}$ are never directly observed and must be inferred from 2D projection images $y$ generated by a complex, non-linear forward operator. We propose Empirical Bayes Flow Matching (EB-FM), a method that learns a flow matching prior $p_θ(x)$ directly from observations using a Monte Carlo stochastic approximation Expectation-Maximization framework. EB-FM alternates between an E-step that performs approximate posterior sampling from $p_θ(x \mid y)$ via guided flow-based generation while maintaining persistent latent estimates through stochastic approximation, and an M-step that updates the flow model using these stabilized latent variables as training targets. This approach eliminates the need for pretraining on clean data and naturally accommodates non-linear forward models. We validate our method on controlled inverse problems using two-moons and MNIST data, and demonstrate its effectiveness on simulated cryo-EM data with known poses, showing that EB-FM can recover continuous distributions of protein conformations directly in atomic-coordinate space.

S$^3$R: Fast and Faithful RL Rollouts via Self-Sparse Speculative Decoding

Yuhang He, Hongyu Ge, Zihan Lin, Siyi Liu, Yongqi Zhang

Fast rollout generation for long-context reinforcement learning with verifiable rewards (RLVR) requires reducing KV-cache traffic without changing the response groups used for policy optimization. In our profiled RLVR workloads, attention accounts for 72--76\% of autoregressive decoding kernel time. Sparse attention reduces these reads, but sampling directly from a sparse policy changes the response groups used for learning. For group-relative optimization, we show that even exact response-wise reweighting does not generally recover the expected dense-policy update because the advantage of each response depends on the rewards of other group members. We propose Self-Sparse Speculative Rollouts (S$^3$R). It uses sparse attention to propose tokens, then generates responses through full-attention verification and exact speculative sampling. Drafting and verification share the same policy parameter, eliminating the need to train or update a separate drafter. The resulting response groups follow the dense-policy distribution. Under S$^3$R, we characterize speedup conditions and the costs of drafting and verification. We found that dense verification still requires the complete historical KV cache. A KV-aware scheduler therefore limits KV-cache repeated offloading and restoration while maintaining rollout parallelism. % OR thrashing In a matched ablation with an aggressive sparse drafting budget, S$^3$R maintains stable training while direct sparse sampling with training-side correction becomes unstable. On long-context mathematical reasoning, S$^3$R achieves $1.39\times~1.35\times$ the end-to-end training throughput of autoregressive rollouts on Qwen3 model, with comparable task performance.

Creating Power Flexibility in Datacenters via Query Routing

Shivam Patel, Bingqing Chen, Jared Fernandez, Guannan Qu, Gauri Joshi

The growing energy requirements of large language model inference highlight the need for datacenters to support safe grid operation by providing power demand flexibility, while maintaining service for interactive workloads. This work investigates query routing as a mechanism to enable such capability by dynamically allocating queries across different language model instances without deferring requests. We develop a general analytical framework that connects query arrival rates and sequence length distributions to token iteration time, request residence time, serving capacity, and power consumption of model instances. Leveraging this framework, we characterize the feasible query routing allocations and the corresponding power demand flexibilities, enabling the selection of routing strategies to achieve desired power consumption behavior. We validate our framework across four GPU platforms on language models ranging from 1B to 70B parameters, obtaining 2.8% mean absolute percentage error in estimating achievable power flexibility. We evaluate our approach on a real trace-driven simulation of a 10,000 H100 GPUs datacenter, exhibiting flexibility up to 16% of total power consumption, with 90% of the desired power reduction achieved within approximately 10 seconds. These results establish query routing as an effective mechanism for datacenter power demand flexibility and demonstrate the broader applicability of our proposed framework to datacenter level planning and orchestration.

High-fidelity training-free photovoltaic module mapping from multi-view UAV imagery

WenHao Duana, Qi Chena, Penglei Zhang, Ruizhe Deng, Zhiling Guo, Haoran Zhang, Yuntian Chen

High-fidelity photovoltaic (PV) module mapping requires complete instance recovery and accurate delineation. Vision foundation models offer zero-shot segmentation, but converting incomplete and inconsistent predictions across views into a complete, geometrically accurate map of individual modules remains challenging. We propose the Multi-View PV Module Mapper (MV-PVMapper), a training-free framework coupling vision foundation models with unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) photogrammetry. First, Segment Anything Model 3 (SAM 3) generates candidates from original images using text prompts. Their contours are then transferred into object space through per-module slope correction to limit distortion from surface-model noise, and verified against representative module dimensions to guide cross-view instance selection. Finally, accepted instances return to all covering images as box prompts for SAM~3, supplementing text prompts with spatial cues for iterative segmentation, verification and fusion. On five-direction surveys of three operational rooftop PV plants at approximately 1 cm nadir ground sampling distance, two feedback iterations recover 7,710 of 7,711 reference modules with no false positives at an intersection-over-union (IoU) matching threshold of 0.5. Macro-averaged area precision and recall reach 99.00 % and 98.52 %, respectively. Averaged across sites, the aggregated Jaccard index reaches 97.55 %, compared with 60.73 % and 41.24 % for orthomosaic segmentation and multi-view pixel-voting baselines, respectively; average precision at the stricter IoU threshold of 0.95 reaches 95.67 %. Ablation studies show that module-size constraints are critical for instance separation, while slope correction and feedback to all covering views improve boundary accuracy. These results are achieved without task-specific image annotation or segmentation-model weight updates.

G$^2$TR: Generation-Guided Visual Token Reduction for Separate-Encoder Unified Multimodal Models

Junxian Li, Kai Liu, Zizhong Ding, Zhixin Wang, Zhikai Chen, Renjing Pei, Yulun Zhang

The development of separate-encoder Unified multimodal models (UMMs) comes with a rapidly growing inference cost due to dense visual token processing. In this paper, we focus on understanding-side visual token reduction for improving the efficiency of separate-encoder UMMs. While this topic has been widely studied for MLLMs, existing methods typically rely on attention scores, text-image similarity and so on, implicitly assuming that the final objective is discriminative reasoning. This assumption does not hold for UMMs, where understanding-side visual tokens must also preserve the model's capabilities for editing images. We propose G$^2$TR, a generation-guided visual token reduction framework for separate-encoder UMMs. Our key insight is that the generation branch provides a task-agnostic signal for identifying understanding-side visual tokens that are not only semantically relevant but also important for latent-space image reconstruction and generation. G$^2$TR estimates token importance from consistency with VAE latent, performs balanced token selection, and merges redundant tokens into retained representatives to reduce information loss. The method is training-free, plug-and-play, and applied only after the understanding encoding stage, making it compatible with existing UMM inference pipelines. Experiments on image understanding and editing benchmarks show that G$^2$TR substantially reduces visual tokens and prefill computation by 1.94x while maintaining both reasoning accuracy and editing quality, outperforming baselines on almost all benchmarks. Cracks in the Foundation: A Civil Infrastructure Dataset to Challenge Vision Foundation Models

Nicola Farronato, Niccolo Avogaro, Thomas Frick, Mattia Rigotti, Rizwan Ullah Khan, Michele Magno, Konrad Schindler, Cristiano Malossi 等 9 位作者

Automated structural health monitoring is essential to prevent catastrophic infrastructure failures. Precise, pixel-level defect segmentation is needed to accurately assess structural integrity, but progress in defect segmentation for civil infrastructures has been held back by an extreme scarcity of data, which requires costly expert annotation. The need for data is accentuated by algorithmic hurdles intrinsic to the problem, including center-bias and the need to rely more on shape when inspecting nearly textureless building materials. To remove the bottleneck, we introduce Cracks in the Foundation (CiF), the largest and most detailed civil infrastructure (instance) segmentation dataset to date, comprising $\approx$150,000 high-resolution tiles meticulously curated over five years in collaboration with civil engineering experts. With the help of this unprecedented data source, we expose a blind spot of current visual AI: despite the advent of promptable Foundation Models (FMs) and Vision Language Models (VLMs), and despite the impressive abilities of today's specialised segmentation models, it turns out that dense image understanding in the built environment is nowhere near solved. Our evaluations indicate that even the most recent zero-shot FMs face significant challenges when deployed on real-world infrastructure and even the performance of specialised models with domain-specific supervision plateaus at $\approx$25\% mAP. CiF establishes inspection of civil infrastructure, an elementary and seemingly easy perceptual task, as an open challenge that reveals fundamental weaknesses of present-day models trained predominantly on internet images, literally and figuratively highlighting cracks in the current foundation model paradigm. PALM: Physically-Anchored Latent-timescale Mamba for Stable Representations under Distribution Shift

Sangyoon Bae, Shinjae Yoo, Jiook Cha

Scientific foundation models are built to reuse representations across datasets and acquisition protocols, yet their representations degrade under distribution shift. We trace one source of this failure to selective state-space models (SSMs). Their memory depends on the step Delta and the state matrix A only through their product, so data do not identify the physical timescale of memory, and under a shift the resulting memory no longer matches the signal's timescales. We call this failure memory-timescale misalignment. To resolve it, the split between Delta and A must be tied to physical units. We therefore propose Physically-Anchored Latent-timescale Mamba (PALM), which disentangles A from Delta by anchoring both to acquisition units: Delta through spectrum-estimated knee frequencies and A through a physical memory range. We evaluate PALM against parameter-matched baselines in two domains, under temporal-context truncation, low-resource transfer, and brain-state shift on fMRI and under held-out-station forecasting on Weather-5K. Under fMRI context truncation with run-level spectral calibration, PALM keeps its latent timescales in physical units and retains 11% higher representation similarity than Mamba2. At geographically isolated weather stations never seen during training, PALM achieves the lowest error on every variable and horizon, 15.2% below the best baseline on average, and outperforms zero-shot forecasting foundation models. Across both domains, the gains come from where the backbone places memory in physical time rather than from model size. We therefore argue that physically anchored latent timescales are a design requirement for scientific foundation models that must transfer across acquisition conditions.

LLM4Robot-Bench: How Far Can GPT-6 Astra Go in Robotic Manipulation? A Hierarchical, Paired Sim-Real Benchmark

Haibao Yu, Jiaqi Meng, Zijian Zhang, Bowen Jing, Lei Yang, Yue Hu, Chenchen Ge, Yiming Hou 等 19 位作者

We introduce LLM4Robot-Bench, a hierarchical, paired Sim-Real benchmark for evaluating physical interaction capabilities in contact-rich manipulation. Its 16 household tasks span three cumulative levels: contact selection and geometric alignment (L1), force regulation within sustained contact (L2), and coordinated contact reconfiguration and force regulation (L3). Each task is instantiated in physically and visually matched simulated and real-world environments, with shared task definitions and success criteria. We evaluate GPT-6 Astra zero-shot with three trials per task in each environment. Real-world success rates decline from 80.0% at L1 to 47.6% at L2 and 0.0% at L3, with corresponding simulation rates of 66.7%, 47.6%, and 0.0%. Ten of the 16 tasks have identical success counts across environments; the remaining six differ by one success out of three trials. Across both environments, recurring difficulties in spatial reasoning, contact selection, force regulation, and coordination often prevent local physical progress from accumulating into task completion. These findings characterize Astra's observed capability boundary across increasing interaction demands and, for this model, support matched simulation as a repeatable, scalable testbed for studying the sustained, coordinated physical interactions that limit reliable manipulation.

TStruct: Learning Shared Temporal Structures for Long-Term Time Series Forecasting

Yangze Li, Zhengyang Zhou, Qihe Huang, Pengkun Wang, Binwu Wang, Yang Wang

Long-term time series forecasting requires learning temporal dependencies that remain stable and generalizable under temporal distribution shifts. However, real-world time series are often noisy, non-stationary, and heterogeneous, making deep learning models prone to overfitting incidental temporal interactions in the training data. This raises a question: when observations are difficult to align, could temporal relationships be easier to reuse? To investigate this possibility, we analyze patch-level temporal relationship matrices across commonly used time series datasets, revealing dominant patterns shared across different temporal windows and variables. Comparisons with patch-shuffled and IID Gaussian controls further support the presence of reusable temporal relationship structures. Motivated by these findings, we propose \textbf{T}emporal \textbf{Struct}ure Network (\textbf{TStruct}), a simple yet effective network that learns reusable temporal dependency structures and adaptively combines them for each sample and variable. Specifically, TStruct directly parameterizes a set of shared temporal dependency matrices and generates normalized combination weights using dynamic sample information and static variable priors. These weights represent a soft allocation of each sample-variable pair over shared temporal dependency structures, enabling the model to generate adaptive temporal dependency matrices under shared structural constraints, rather than fitting incidental interactions in a fully unconstrained manner. Notably, TStruct consistently outperforms several strong baselines across all evaluated datasets, achieving superior accuracy while maintaining high computational efficiency. Our code is available at https://github.com/yangzeli/TStruct.

Finite Spectral Depth Controls Gaussian Entrance Rank and Avoidance of the First Gradient-Flow Saddle

Yanlin Long

Matrix factorization provides a simple model for studying the training dynamics of neural networks. Recent studies of gradient flow under small initialization have analyzed how trajectories escape from a neighborhood of the origin and approach their first nonzero stationary point. In this paper, we study continuous-time dynamics that applies a finite number of Newton-Schulz iterations to the normalized matrix gradient (Muon). We show that the number of Newton-Schulz steps can change the rank selected during the early stages of training and allow the resulting trajectory to bypass the first nonzero stationary point approached by gradient flow. Under an additional residual-inertia condition, we prove that bypass occurs for all sufficiently large finite Newton-Schulz depths and provide an explicit sufficient threshold. We also construct an example in which the bypass threshold is four.

Rethinking GA2Ms: performance and out-of-distribution generalisation

George Dimitriadis, Damian Machlanski, Paul Clarke, Spyridon Samothrakis

Generalised Additive Models (GAMs) are a cornerstone of interpretable machine learning, offering transparent predictions through structured additive decompositions. Despite advances from classical GAMs to modern neural and spline-based variants, two notable gaps remain. First, comprehensive benchmarking of spline-based GAMs on large-scale tabular learning tasks, the dominant modality in applied settings, is lacking. Second, their robustness under distribution shift, a setting where structured inductive biases should confer advantages, remains unexplored. We propose a multi-resolution, higher-order Composite Generalised Additive Model (CoGA2M) and evaluate it on the TALENT benchmark suite. CoGA2M ranks in the top third across all baselines (29 for regression, 32 for classification), establishing competitive performance with state-of-the-art tabular methods. We further extend TALENT with out-of-distribution (OOD) splits exhibiting train-test distributional shift and benchmark CoGA2M against LightGBM, a consistently top-performing model on TALENT. Under distribution shift, CoGA2M outperforms LightGBM, demonstrating a clear structural advantage. Our results position spline-based GAMs as strong contenders for tabular prediction and reveal a previously unrecognised benefit of additive structure in the OOD regime.

Sustainable operation of research infrastructure for novel computing

Yannik Stradmann, Joscha Ilmberger, Eric Müller, Johannes Schemmel

Novel compute systems are an emerging research topic, aiming towards building next-generation compute platforms. For these systems to thrive, they need to be provided as research infrastructure to allow acceptance and usage by a large community. By the example of the neuromorphic BrainScaleS-2 system, we showcase the transformation from a laboratory setup to a publicly available research platform. It is embedded into a purpose-built institute, tightly coupling a conventional cluster with novel compute hardware. Our key contribution is the sustainable operation of such a research system: automation, integration, and resource separation enable maintainability, stable operation, and continuity in a fluctuating academic environment. We implement these concepts by adopting established best practices, such as network infrastructure with strong resource separation, 19-inch rack units, the integration of physical and simulated hardware into CI/CD processes, and system monitoring. We evaluate six years of platform operation comprising 3718 production deployments and an average of 198 hardware CI/CD runs per day, with the integration of simulated and physical hardware increasing the full-stack software line coverage from 57% to 79%. We conclude with an explicit collection of lessons learned during the transformation from single-user laboratory setups to a publicly accessible research platform that, since 2023, has served more than 520 individual researchers.

Scaling Laws For Data-Constrained Dense Retrieval

Bowen Fu, Jingtao Zhan

Dense retrieval models are typically obtained by fine-tuning pretrained language models on supervised retrieval data, where high-quality annotations or interaction logs are often limited and reused across many epochs. This data-constrained regime differs from the abundant-data setting assumed by standard scaling laws, making it unclear how the best attainable retrieval performance changes with model size and unique fine-tuning data. We study this question through the minimum achievable evaluation loss (MAEL), defined as the lowest evaluation loss reached during training under fixed model-size and data-budget constraints. We first show that learning-rate choices strongly affect optimization trajectories but have little effect on the final attainable MAEL: after rescaling the optimization-step axis, learning curves collapse across learning rates, and CKA analysis shows that checkpoints reaching MAEL learn highly similar representations. We then fine-tune 35 BERT-family dense retrievers on MS MARCO subsets and find that MAEL is accurately described by a simple multiplicative power law over non-embedding parameters and unique samples, outperforming commonly used additive scaling formulations. We further derive a scaling law for the training step at which MAEL is reached and show that optimal weight decay follows an approximately invariant EMA timescale, yielding lower MAEL and stronger retrieval performance on both in-domain and out-of-domain benchmarks. Finally, combining loss and step scaling suggests that, in our observed regime, increasing pretrained model size is approximately 1.46 times as fine-tuning-compute-efficient as increasing unique in-domain data for reducing MAEL.

HERIT: Enabling Global Access to Hanja-to-English Historical Translation by Mitigating Temporal Bias

Dayeon Jeong, Kyeongpil Kang

Historical archives are invaluable for multidisciplinary research but remain inaccessible globally due to severe language barriers. While manual translation is prohibitively expensive and time-consuming, simply applying existing machine translation models is inadequate due to unique linguistic nuances and the temporal bias inherent in scarce human-labeled corpora. To address these challenges, we propose HERIT, a systematic domain-adaptation pipeline that leverages retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) to generate high-quality pseudo-labeled data from abundant Hanja-Korean corpora. This approach substantially expands the training dataset, mitigating both data scarcity and temporal overfitting across different historical periods. Extensive automated and human evaluations demonstrate that HERIT consistently outperforms baselines. Finally, we translate previously untranslated portions of the archives using our model, thereby enabling global access to these resources for researchers.

Gaze2HOI: Gaze-Aware Intention Disambiguation for Egocentric Hand-Object Interaction Forecasting

Chuanyang Ma, Chenye Wang, Yixuan Wang, Huiling Zhou, Man Zhang, Xingqun Qi, Muyi Sun, Caifeng Shan 等 9 位作者

Anticipating how users will interact with their surroundings is essential for proactive systems that provide timely assistance in extended reality and embodied applications. Prior work typically forecasts hand-object interactions directly from historical observations, leaving intention and contact geometry implicit. However, similar observation histories can precede semantically or geometrically distinct futures. Inspired by behavioral evidence that gaze can provide early cues for underlying intention, we propose Gaze2HOI, a gaze-aware framework that formulates hand-object interaction forecasting as a hierarchical problem comprising intention inference, contact grounding, and coupled hand-object motion generation. Specifically, Gaze2HOI first weights gaze cues by fixation strength and recency, and uses them to modulate the visual representations of a vision-language model (VLM) through Temporal Gaze Saliency Modulation (TGSM), thereby reducing semantic ambiguity in intention inference. Subsequently, an Anticipatory Contact Grounding (ACG) module maps these structured intentions into explicit contact, support, and placement fields, effectively mitigating geometric ambiguity. Driven by these explicit conditions, a diffusion-based model jointly generates the six-degree-of-freedom (6-DoF) object trajectories and future articulated motion of both hands. To evaluate Gaze2HOI, we further introduce EgoAIM, a phase-aware benchmark that organizes egocentric hand-object interactions into four phases defined by evolving hand-object relations and provides fine-grained intention annotations. Extensive experiments demonstrate that Gaze2HOI achieves state-of-the-art performance in both intention inference and motion forecasting, even approaching oracle-level end-to-end performance in specific interaction phases. TraceRouter++: Causal Semantic Routing Realignment via Optimal Transport

Chuancheng Shi, Shangze Li, Wenhua Wu, Hengzhi Chen, Fei Shen, Li Zhuo, Zhiyong Wang, Tat-Seng Chua

Despite their remarkable capabilities, large foundation models (LFMs) remain susceptible to adversarial manipulation. Current safety intervention methods primarily rely on the \textit{locality hypothesis}, rigidly suppressing isolated neurons or features. However, harmful semantics manifest as distributed, cross-layer circuits, rendering localized ablations both brittle against complex jailbreaks and detrimental to general utility. To bridge this gap, we propose TraceRouter++, a routing-level safety intervention framework that explicitly traces safety-relevant causal routing pathways activated under harmful inputs and realigns their unsafe activation states. Our framework operates in a \textit{Discover-Trace-Realign} paradigm: it first pinpoints a sensitive onset layer via attention divergence and disentangles dense activations into interpretable routing features using sparse autoencoders (SAEs). Subsequently, it maps these features to downstream causal circuits via feature influence scores (FIS). Crucially, departing from rigid suppression paradigms, TraceRouter++ introduces a constrained optimal transport (OT)-based soft routing realignment. By formulating safety intervention as a tractable coordinate-wise marginal optimal transport approximation, our method redirects unsafe activation marginals toward safe-reference marginals within causally identified routing subspaces while preserving non-selected coordinates at the intervention point. This mechanism safely redirects malicious semantic flows while leaving orthogonal computational routes intact. Extensive experiments across representative large language models (LLMs), multimodal large language models (MLLMs), and diffusion models (DMs) show that TraceRouter++ outperforms evaluated baselines, improving adversarial robustness while maintaining a favorable safety-utility trade-off. WARNING: This paper contains unsafe model responses.

Leakage-Resilient Computation via Matrix Refreshing

Stefan Dziembowski, Sebastian Faust

Leakage-resilient cryptography protects secrets against side-channel attacks, in which a physical implementation reveals partial information about its internal state. A fundamental primitive in this area is a leakage-resilient storage, which allows a secret to be stored in a way that remains secure even if an adversary learns some information about the storage's internal state. A popular approach represents a secret as the inner product of two $n$-bit vectors, called shares. The shares are stored and processed separately by two parts of the implementation, called the left and right parties. Because leakage accumulates over time, the shares must be refreshed repeatedly. We prove that a simple refresh, in which the left party multiplies its share by a uniform invertible matrix $M$ and the right party multiplies its share by $M^{-1}$, is secure under continual local leakage. After $T$ refreshes, each allowing at most $λ$ bits of leakage per party, the transcripts for two stored secrets are at statistical distance at most $C\cdot T\cdot 2^{6λ-n/9}$ for an absolute constant $C$. We also obtain a Boolean-circuit compiler with statistical privacy error at most $C\cdot S\cdot 2^{18λ-n/27}$ for $S$ operations and at most $λ$ bits of local leakage per party per operation. The guarantee covers repeated stateful evaluations with adaptively chosen public inputs, with $S$ counting all operations across invocations. Thus, for polynomial-size circuits, a constant leakage fraction is tolerated with share length depending only on the security parameter. We formalize the refreshing bound, the composition and compiler guarantees, and the expected-work bounds in Lean 4. Our results also provide efficient simulation: the leakage can be reproduced from the public inputs and the circuit outputs alone, with expected polynomial overhead.

PrimeSim: A Generalist World Model Simulator from Large-Scale Cross-Embodiment Demonstrations

Travis Davies, Wentao Ma, Lihao Guo, Tengfei Ma, Xiaowen Chang, Jiafeng Xu, Shilong Wang, Yiqi Deng 等 13 位作者

A robot world model that serves as a simulator must do more than generate plausible videos: it must faithfully follow commanded actions, maintain consistency across camera views, and sustain coherent long-horizon rollouts. We present PrimeSim, an action-conditioned, multiview world model simulator that addresses these challenges through progressive midtraining and posttraining. Starting from a pretrained video generator, we midtrain on 30,110 hours of robot demonstrations spanning 22 platforms. To improve action following, we introduce a unified cross-embodiment action representation and frame-aligned dual-path conditioning to strengthen action-frame correspondence. To maintain multiview consistency, we develop view-aware interleaved attention with explicit camera identities, enabling cross-view information exchange while preserving view-specific representations. We further introduce a fast-video, slow-memory posttraining framework that transforms the bidirectional video generator into an efficient autoregressive simulator. By combining fast causal generation, self-rollout training, and hierarchical temporal memory, PrimeSim mitigates error accumulation from self-generated histories and supports coherent long-horizon simulation. PrimeSim runs at 10.1 FPS, remains stable over long-horizon rollouts on rigid and deformable manipulation tasks, and transfers to held-out platforms within 100 to 200 gradient steps where the pretrained backbone does not. Against five open-source action-conditioned world models it leads four of the five WorldSimProbe suites and posts the best overall EWMBench score, while fine-grained local calibration still trails the field; its rollouts are faithful enough to support GRPO-based policy optimization. We release the model weights, inference code, and training code.

Not All Proofs Are Equal: Evaluating LLM Proof Quality Beyond Correctness

Ivo Petrov, Jasper Dekoninck, Dimitar I. Dimitrov, Martin Vechev

Large language models (LLMs) have become capable mathematical problem-solvers, often producing correct proofs for challenging problems. However, correctness alone is not sufficient: mathematical proofs should also be clear, insightful, contain transferable knowledge, and be generally useful to the reader. While proof quality is subjective and depends on the reader and context, many of its components can be made concrete. In this work, we identify such components and introduce ProofRank, a benchmark curated from challenging competitions that measures several scalable proxies of proof quality: (i) conciseness - quantifying whether proofs avoid unnecessary steps; (ii) computational ease - the extent to which a proof relies on tedious calculations; (iii) cognitive simplicity - how accessible the used proof techniques are; (iv) diversity - how varied a model's proofs for a single problem are; and (v) adaptivity - how well a model can follow a specified technique. We find proof quality varies substantially across models along dimensions that correctness largely fails to capture. Every proof-level proxy can be steered through prompting, but often at a moderate correctness cost. ProofRank thus captures important aspects of mathematical proofs beyond correctness, and indicates the need for models that produce proofs which are not only correct but also valuable.

Amortized Nonlinear Variable Selection with Prior-Data Fitted Networks

Jin Zhu, Junxian Zhu

Variable selection is an important task for interpreting potentially complex systems in fields such as biology, business, and sociology. The importance of variable selection has attracted considerable attention in statistics and machine learning. In this paper, we are mainly interested in model-agnostic variable selection for identifying variables that have general nonlinear dependence on the response. We propose MambaPFN, short for Model-Agnostic Markov BlAnket selection with Prior-data Fitted Networks, which is built upon the Transformer, a building block of many popular large language models. Specifically, we consider a functional-mapping perspective on variable-selection learning, in which the Transformer is treated as a learnable mapping from a dataset to its relevant variables. To learn this mapping, MambaPFN introduces three new components: (i) a faithful, rich, and scalable scheme for generating pretraining data, (ii) an objective that targets each variable's posterior inclusion probability, and (iii) a modified Transformer architecture tailored to variable selection. Once pretrained, MambaPFN is applied to new datasets without parameter updates. Empirically, MambaPFN achieves desirable variable-selection performance in simulation studies and exhibits a scaling law---more pretraining datasets and larger models can continuously improve its performance. Applied to a Facebook comments dataset, MambaPFN selects the fewest variables and achieves the highest computational efficiency and predictive performance, improving upon the best baselines by about 20%.

CleanVideo: Adaptive Concept Erasure for Text-to-Video Diffusion Models

Junchi Liao, Hongji Li, Wenrui Zhou, Lijie Hu

Concept erasure aims to selectively eliminate undesired visual semantics from pre-trained generative models without compromising their general utility. Extending concept erasure from images to video is nontrivial. Target concepts emerge gradually and vary across frames and denoising steps. As a result, fixed interventions may miss the target or introduce blurring, jitter, and content distortion. We propose CleanVideo, a selective erasure framework that performs low-dimensional subspace intervention controlled by a tri-modal gating mechanism. By jointly processing spatiotemporal visual features, timestep signals, and textual semantics, CleanVideo determines where, when, and whether to intervene, steering erased content toward natural surrogate concepts when such surrogates can be clearly defined while preserving non-target content. Experiments on three video diffusion models show that CleanVideo effectively erases target concepts while maintaining visual fidelity and temporal coherence, outperforming existing baselines under frame-level and video-level evaluations and under concept-recovery attacks when the protected pipeline remains intact.

Recovery Beats Storage: Improved Space for Preprocessed 3SUM

Amir Carmel, Yakov Kosoburd, Robert Krauthgamer

The 3SUM problem asks, given sets $A,B,C$ of integers, whether there exist $a\in A$ and $b\in B$ whose sum belongs to $C$. In the preprocessed variant with unknown $C$, one preprocesses sets $A$ and $B$, each of size $n$, and subsequently answers a query specified by subsets $A'\subseteq A$, $B'\subseteq B$ and a target set $C'$ of size $O(n)$, by solving the 3SUM instance $(A',B',C')$. Kirkpatrick, Kuszmaul, Mathialagan, and Vassilevska Williams [ICALP 2026] gave the first algorithm with subquadratic space for this problem, achieving $\widetilde{O}(n^{3/2+ε})$ query time using $\widetilde{O}(n^{2-2ε/3})$ space, for every $ε\in[0,1/2]$. Their algorithm employs separate mechanisms for heavy and light targets, and for each heavy target it stores explicitly the list of pairs $(a,b)$ whose sum is congruent to it modulo a random prime $p$ but differs from it. These lists dominate the space bound. We present a unified construction that uses a single mechanism for all queries. Instead of storing these lists of pairs, our algorithm recovers on demand the residue class of the target modulo a random prime by inverting the function $(a,b)\mapsto (a+b\bmod p)$. Additionally, instead of storing the heavy targets, it recomputes at query time a set that covers them. This leads to an improved space bound of $\widetilde{O}(n^{2-ε})$, while maintaining the same query time. Moreover, our construction is the first to achieve subquadratic space while supporting adaptively chosen queries.

LoRIF: Pushing the Scalability Frontier of Training Data Attribution

Shuangqi Li, Hieu Le, Jingyi Xu, Mathieu Salzmann

Training data attribution (TDA) identifies which training examples most influenced a model's prediction. Influence function methods are a theoretically grounded family of TDA methods and exploit gradients. To overcome the scalability challenge arising from gradient computation, the most popular strategy is random projection (e.g., TRAK, LoGRA). However, this still faces two bottlenecks when scaling to large training sets and high-quality attribution: \emph{(i)} storing and loading projected per-example gradients for all $N$ training examples, where query latency is dominated by I/O; and \emph{(ii)} forming the $D \times D$ inverse Hessian approximation, which costs $O(D^2)$ memory. Both bottlenecks scale with the projection dimension $D$, yet increasing $D$ is necessary for attribution quality -- creating a quality--scalability tradeoff. We introduce \textbf{LoRIF} (\textbf{Lo}w-\textbf{R}ank \textbf{I}nfluence \textbf{F}unctions), which exploits low-rank structures of gradient to address both bottlenecks. First, we store rank-$c$ factors of projected per-example gradients rather than full matrices, reducing storage and query-time I/O from $O(D)$ to $O(c\sqrt{D})$ per layer per sample. Second, we use truncated SVD with the Woodbury identity to approximate the inverse Hessian term in an $r$-dimensional subspace, reducing memory from $O(D^2)$ to $O(Dr)$. On models from 0.1B to 70B parameters trained on datasets with millions of examples, LoRIF achieves up to 20$\times$ storage reduction and query-time speedup compared to LoGRA, while matching or exceeding its attribution quality. LoRIF makes gradient-based TDA practical at frontier scale. Code is available at https://github.com/doub7e/LoRIF.

Radial distortion homography estimation from affine-covariant or orientation-covariant features

Marcus Valtonen Örnhag, Stefan Adalbjörnsson

We present minimal solvers for joint homography and radial distortion estimation using affine- or orientation-covariant features. The core contribution is a set of novel constraints that exploit local feature geometry inherent to affine descriptors, enabling solvers that require fewer correspondences than point-based methods. Using modern robust estimation frameworks, we demonstrate that the proposed solvers are advantageous to the current state-of-the-art with a significant speed-up in the presence of outliers while maintaining comparable or superior estimation accuracy. The proposed solvers are tested on both synthetic and real images containing challenging fisheye distortions.
