An observer sees only part of the surrounding world, yet must keep track of what lies beyond the current view. Spatial perception therefore involves more than recognizing individual images: it calls for a persistent spatial state that is updated under self-motion and used to guide action. Do visual foundation models provide representations that support such a state? We study this question through four levels of spatial capability---spatial structure, object persistence, predictive spatial update, and actionability---using frozen-feature probes on ten representations under streaming egocentric observations of static indoor environments. The resulting capability profiles vary across tasks, network layers, and prefix lengths: strong readout of the visible scene does not ensure accurate object persistence or future-feature retrieval. Matched controls separate readout accuracy from reliance on visual history and motion. Native future prediction retains recoverable spatial structure, but a spatial reader trained on real features does not transfer to predicted features unchanged. Finally, goal-dependent candidate selection does not establish reliable continuous action utility: predicted actions respond to goal changes, yet supplying the correct goal does not reliably improve progress. Across the four levels, object persistence and actionability build on camera-pose readout, whereas feature prediction builds on visible-scene readout. Together, these findings motivate evaluating spatial representations not only by what can be decoded from them, but by whether that information is maintained beyond observation, updated predictively, and used for goal-directed action.

Early prediction of ICU organ dysfunction events supports timely clinical monitoring and intervention, but estimating short-term organ-specific risk from early ICU records remains challenging due to irregular measurements, heterogeneous clinical variables, and the need to predict risk across multiple future horizons. Existing supervised models usually treat each patient as an isolated sample and do not explicitly use the observed event timing of similar historical patients. We propose Neighbor Event-Curve Augmentation (NECA), a model-agnostic method that retrieves training-set patients with similar early-window profiles and converts their subsequent organ dysfunction event onset times into cumulative event-curve features over 6h, 12h, 24h, and 42h. These features are concatenated with the original patient representation and used by standard downstream predictors. On PhysioNet 2012 and a 4,000-stay MIMIC-IV subset, NECA improves average PR-AUC and ROC-AUC across four organ dysfunction event tasks and seven supervised learners. The largest gain appears for neurological dysfunction events, where task-level average PR-AUC increases from 0.461 to 0.557 on PhysioNet 2012. Ablations show that clinically meaningful retrieval and horizon-specific neighbor risk drive most of the improvement, while the full cumulative curve adds task-dependent temporal context. These results support similar-patient event timing as a structured temporal risk signal for ICU organ dysfunction event prediction. The source code will be publicly released upon acceptance of this paper.
Gromov--Wasserstein optimal transport (GWOT) aligns metric measure spaces by matching their within-domain relational structures, but large-scale GWOT remains challenging because its objective is nonconvex and projection onto the transport polytope is often solved only approximately in practice. This leads to a gap between practical projected-gradient implementations and convergence theory, which typically assumes exact projections. For squared-loss GWOT, we propose an inexact projected-gradient framework with a verifiable feasibility-residual-based inexact condition for the projection subproblem. This condition is directly computable and avoids unknown quantities such as the exact projection point. Under this implementable condition, we prove subsequential convergence to stationary points and, with a mild tolerance-decay condition, convergence of the whole sequence. The resulting method retains the simplicity and sparsity of projected-gradient schemes while providing rigorous convergence guarantees, turning projected-gradient methods into a principled and scalable approach for GWOT with provable reliability.

End-to-end video quality assessment (VQA) methods leave the regional evidence underlying their predictions largely implicit. We introduce an explicit pixel-level regional representation for VQA, instantiated as a Quality-Relevance Heatmap (QRH) that combines localized degradation evidence with perceptual priors under vision-language model guidance, without requiring pixel-level annotations. We apply QRH to existing VQA models through two deterministic fragment-sampling strategies: distribution-preserving sampling approximates the original sampler's QRH-score distribution without retraining, while quality-aware sampling prioritizes regions with high QRH scores and is paired with fine-tuning. Experiments with DOVER on multiple benchmarks show that the former closely approximates predictions averaged over random samples, while the latter improves most evaluated metrics across popular VQA benchmarks. These results support explicit regional representations as a useful interface for downstream VQA.
We introduce PhysLadder, a hierarchical Sim-Real benchmark for evaluating physical interaction capabilities in contact-rich manipulation. Its 16 household tasks span three cumulative levels: contact selection and geometric alignment (L1), force regulation within sustained contact (L2), and coordinated contact reconfiguration and force regulation (L3). Each task is instantiated in physically and visually matched simulated and real-world environments, with shared task definitions and success criteria. We evaluate GPT-6 Astra zero-shot with three trials per task in each environment. Real-world success rates decline from 80.0% at L1 to 47.6% at L2 and 0.0% at L3, with corresponding simulation rates of 66.7%, 47.6%, and 0.0%. Ten of the 16 tasks have identical success counts across environments; the remaining six differ by one success out of three trials. Across both environments, recurring difficulties in spatial reasoning, contact selection, force regulation, and coordination often prevent local physical progress from accumulating into task completion. These findings characterize Astra's observed capability boundary across increasing interaction demands and, for this model, support matched simulation as a repeatable, scalable testbed for studying the sustained, coordinated physical interactions that limit reliable manipulation.

Advancing from usable to collaborative autonomy requires driving systems to execute passenger instructions safely and reliably. This work formulates instruction realization as scheduling across multiple motion planners and presents a dual-loop framework that provides a transparent decision chain from natural language to vehicle control. The outer loop uses a small language model (SLM) for high-level, low-frequency semantic reasoning and schedule generation, while the inner loop performs low-level, high-frequency schedule execution and vehicle control. To compensate for the SLM’s limited capacity, the framework integrates receding-horizon scheduling to segment long-horizon instruction tasks, a domain-specific language (DSL) that restricts SLM outputs to a scheduling-oriented subspace, and reinforcement learning in high-fidelity urban traffic to refine the SLM’s DSL proficiency and scheduling performance. Experiments show that the framework improves instruction-completion rates while maintaining high safety and compliance relative to multiple baselines.

Large language models (LLMs) have achieved remarkable success across a wide range of natural language processing tasks, yet their performance remains heavily biased toward high-resource languages. Tibetan, despite its cultural significance and large speaker population, is still substantially underrepresented. In this work, we present a comprehensive pipeline for advancing Tibetan language modeling through large-scale data curation and continual pre-training. We construct a 72 GB high-quality Tibetan corpus, the largest to date, and adapt Qwen2.5-7B through balanced multilingual continual pre-training with Tibetan, Chinese, and English, followed by multilingual instruction tuning. To further scale capacity efficiently, we extend the dense model to a 50B-A10B Mixture-of-Experts architecture. Due to the absence of standardized Tibetan benchmarks, we build multiple evaluation datasets via high-quality translation and human verification. Experimental results show that both dense and MoE models consistently outperform existing open-source and Tibetan-focused models of similar scale across diverse tasks. Our work advances Tibetan-centric LLM research and provides transferable insights for extending LLMs to other low-resource languages. We will release the model weights, evaluation benchmarks, and detailed data processing documentation in the follow-up.

Tool-integrated reasoning (TIR) enables LLM agents to solve tasks through planning, tool use, and iterative revision, but outcome-only reinforcement learning in this setting suffers from sparse, delayed rewards and weak step-level credit assignment. In long-horizon TIR trajectories, an early irrecoverable mistake can determine success or failure, making it crucial to localize the first irrecoverable step and leverage it for fine-grained credit assignment. We propose Error-Localized Policy Optimization (ELPO), which localizes the first irrecoverable step via binary-search rollout trees under a fixed rollout budget, converts the resulting tree into stable learning signals through hierarchical advantage attribution, and applies error-localized adaptive clipping to strengthen corrective updates on the critical step and its suffix. Across TIR benchmarks in math, science QA, and code execution, ELPO consistently outperforms strong Agentic RL baselines under comparable sampling budgets, with additional gains in Pass@K and Major@K scaling, rollout ranking quality, and tool-call efficiency. Our code is publicly released for reproducibility at https://anonymous.4open.science/r/ELPO-7C19.

Diffusion Large Language Models (dLLMs) deliver strong long-context processing capability in a non-autoregressive decoding paradigm. However, the considerable computational cost of bidirectional full attention limits the inference efficiency. Although sparse attention is promising, existing methods remain ineffective. This stems from the need to estimate attention importance for tokens yet to be decoded, while the unmasked token positions are unknown during diffusion. In this paper, we present Focus-dLLM, a novel training-free attention sparsification framework tailored for accurate and efficient long-context dLLM inference. Based on the finding that token confidence strongly correlates across adjacent steps, we first design a past confidence-guided indicator to predict unmasked regions. Built upon this, we propose a sink-aware pruning strategy to accurately estimate and remove redundant attention computation, while preserving highly influential attention sinks. To further reduce overhead, this strategy reuses identified sink locations across layers, leveraging the observed cross-layer consistency. Experimental results show that our method offers more than 29\times lossless speedup under 32K context length.

Current Large Language Models (LLMs) typically rely on coarse-grained national labels for pluralistic value alignment. However, such macro-level supervision often obscures intra-country value heterogeneity, yielding a loose alignment. We argue that resolving this limitation requires shifting from national labels to multi-dimensional demographic constraints, which can identify groups with predictable, high-consensus value preference. To this end, we propose DVMap (High-Consensus Demographic-Value Mapping), a framework for fine-grained pluralistic value alignment. In this framework, we first present a demographic archetype extraction strategy to construct a high-quality value alignment corpus of 56,152 samples from the World Values Survey (WVS) by strictly retaining respondents with consistent value preferences under identical demographics. Over this corpus, we introduce a Structured Chain-of-Thought (CoT) mechanism that explicitly guides LLMs to reason about demographic-value correlations. Subsequently, we employ Group Relative Policy Optimization (GRPO) to achieve adaptive anchoring of value distributions. To rigorously evaluate generalization, we further establish a triple-generalization benchmark (spanning cross-demographic, cross-country, and cross-value) comprising 21,553 samples. Experimental results demonstrate that DVMap effectively learns the manifold mapping from demographics to values, exhibiting strong generalization and robustness. On cross-demographic tests, Qwen3-8B-DVMap achieves 48.6% accuracy, surpassing the advanced open-source LLM DeepSeek-v3.2 (45.1%). The source code and dataset are available at https://github.com/EnlightenedAI/DVMap.
