FenixWalk: Adaptive Sampling for Large-Scale Dynamic Graphs on Heterogeneous Architectures

Pinhuan Wang, Jianian Fu, Jie Zhang, Shixuan Sun, Qing Wang, Xiaoliang Wang, Chen Tian, Chengying Huan

Random walks are fundamental to graph analytics, yet executing them efficiently on large, evolving graphs remains challenging. Existing approaches must balance sampling efficiency, update overhead, and memory consumption. Sampling structures optimized for throughput often incur substantial memory overhead and costly maintenance, whereas lightweight alternatives can suffer from high sampling latency on high-degree vertices or skewed weight distributions. These challenges become more pronounced on heterogeneous CPU--GPU platforms, where host memory provides capacity but GPU memory limits the amount of graph data that can benefit from parallel acceleration. We present FenixWalk, a memory-efficient random-walk system that combines unified in-place sampling with selective GPU acceleration for large-scale dynamic graphs. At its core, FenixWalk employs an in-place Fenwick representation that supports both rejection sampling and inverse-transform sampling without duplicating edge-level weight storage. This representation enables expected O(1) weight lookup for rejection sampling, together with O(log d) prefix sampling and updates. To exploit heterogeneous hardware efficiently, FenixWalk maintains the complete graph and its sampling structures in host memory while selectively placing frequently reused vertex-local samplers on the GPU. By transferring compact walker states instead of repeatedly migrating graph partitions, the system reduces cross-device communication and makes effective use of limited GPU memory. Experiments on large real-world graphs and representative random-walk workloads demonstrate that FenixWalk achieves average speedups ranging from 2.06x to 400.57x over existing random-walk systems.

Is Forgetting Unified? Exploring Concept Unlearning in Unified Multimodal Models

Zhongkai Xue, Junkai Chen, Mingcong Lei, Rumo Zhang, Yixiao Liu, Zhimin Sun, Shu Wu, Qiang Liu 等 10 位作者

Unified multimodal models (UMMs) integrate image generation and visual understanding, but are existing single-pathway unlearning methods sufficient to suppress target concepts across both? In this work, we study cross-pathway concept unlearning. Our goal is to prevent a model from both generating images of a target concept and identifying it in input images, while preserving other capabilities. To this end, we introduce UUBench, a diagnostic benchmark covering 30 target concepts and 60 semantically related neighboring concepts. Experiments on representative UMMs show that the evaluated single-pathway methods achieve limited joint forgetting: generation-side editors strongly suppress target generation but yield limited forgetting in visual understanding, while understanding-side baselines struggle to achieve substantial forgetting even in their own pathway. Their direct composition also yields limited joint forgetting. We therefore propose UniForget, achieving joint forgetting rates of 80.0% on BAGEL-7B-MoT and 92.7% on Janus-Pro-7B, outperforming representative baselines. Further analysis reveals trade-offs between joint forgetting and capability preservation.

Concept-Grounded Reasoning with Prompt-Driven Localization for Interpretable Structured Report Generation

Xinyue Xu, Hongbin Lin, Juangui Xu, Hualiang Wang, Lehan Wang, Lijie Hu, Adrian Weller, Xiaomeng Li

Medical imaging modalities such as ultrasound and X-ray are widely used in clinical practice, where diagnosis follows a structured, evidence-driven workflow aligned with standardized criteria. While multimodal large language models (MLLMs) show promise for automated medical report generation, most existing systems rely on end-to-end multimodal fusion without modeling clinically defined intermediate attributes, leading to limited grounding and interpretability. To address this issue, we propose CORAL (COncept-grounded ReAsoning with Localization), a multimodal framework that integrates spatial grounding and concept-level supervision into a unified reasoning process. CORAL employs a prompt-driven medical segmentation model to localize lesions and predicts multi-class clinical attributes through a Concept Bottleneck module. The resulting textual concept tokens are combined with mask-modulated visual features within an MLLM to enable structured report generation and diagnostic prediction. Experiments on BUS-CoT and IU X-ray datasets demonstrate consistent improvements in diagnostic accuracy, concept consistency, and report quality over strong general-purpose and medical MLLMs, indicating that concept-grounded reasoning better aligns generation with clinical decision processes.

Reconstruction as Spatial Evaluation: Diagnosing Cross-View Spatial Intelligence in Large Vision-Language Models

Junfei Wu, Qiuyue Wang, Xuhong Huang, Qihang Peng, Mingsheng Li, Jian Guan, Qiang Liu, Shu Wu 等 11 位作者

The spatial intelligence of large vision-language models (LVLMs) requires the ability to combine local visual observations into a geometrically consistent representation of the physical world. Many static benchmarks assess isolated spatial judgments, such as relative direction or distance, while interactive embodied evaluations combine perception with exploration, planning, control, and simulator-specific execution. To bridge this gap, we introduce RECONSPATIAL, a benchmark centered on multi-view 3D scene reconstruction across indoor, tabletop, and outdoor environments. Given real multi-view images and target-object queries, LVLMs are required to jointly predict oriented 3D bounding boxes in a shared, camera-anchored metric coordinate frame. Reconstructions are evaluated along two complementary axes: Structure for relative layout and Metric for physical scale and camera-anchored placement. Nine atomic spatial QA tasks, grouped into Geometric Perception and Spatial Relations, probe spatial capabilities involved in joint reconstruction. Offline navigation extends evaluation to path planning. Evaluation of 18 frontier LVLMs reveals a consistent gap between relative scene structure and metric reconstruction; even GPT-6-Astra scores 81.4% on Structure but only 58.7% on Metric. Tracing this gap, diagnostic analyses link atomic spatial capabilities to reconstruction quality and show that relational consistency alone does not ensure metric accuracy. Experiments with 3D map injection further separate scene construction from path planning, revealing how these geometric errors limit navigation success. Finally, spatial fine-tuning yields broad transfer across both spatial and general vision-language benchmarks.

From Profiles to Steering Vectors: Global Sparse Priors and Local Semantic Calibration for Personalized Text Generation

Liuji Chen, Zeyu Zhang, Xinyuan Zhang, Shuai Nie, Qiang Liu, Shu Wu, Liang Wang

Personalized text generation requires models to capture user-specific writing styles from historical data. Existing approaches based on retrieval, parameter-efficient fine-tuning, or activation steering either introduce inference and storage overhead or struggle to separate stylistic signals from semantic content. We propose GLASS, a training-free framework for personalized generation via Global-Local Activation Steering with Sparse priors. GLASS uses sparse autoencoders to extract a global user-style prior from historical responses and constructs local contrastive style vectors over clustered interaction scenarios. During inference, it jointly injects global and local vectors into different model layers, enabling context-aware personalization without retrieval or parameter updates. Experiments on LaMP and LongLaMP show that GLASS outperforms retrieval-, fine-tuning-, and steering-based baselines across ROUGE metrics and LLM-as-judge evaluations. Further analyses show that SAE-based representations are more robust to topic and length shifts, suggesting better disentanglement of stylistic information from semantic residue.

Smartphone Indoor Localization Enhanced by Hierarchical Multi-Sensor Context Recognition

Wenhui Feng, Muhan Weng, Jianyu Liu, Xiansheng Yang, Hao Zhang, Liang Wang, Yuan Zhuang

Smartphone indoor localization requires low-cost, robust positioning across scene transitions and phone-use variations. Pedestrian dead reckoning (PDR) enables infrastructure-free deployment but accumulates errors from heading drift, structural transitions, and carrying-mode changes. Existing methods often treat contextual cues as a single event stream or local correction signal, limiting their ability to address distinct localization errors. This paper presents a framework enhanced by hierarchical multi-sensor context recognition. A jointly data- and model-driven recognition model predicts environment, scene, and activity probabilities, which are converted into scene-event and action-context segments. Scene-event segments guide scene-constrained PDR correction through corridor heading constraints, landmark attraction, fixed-lag backtracking, and vertical-transition handling. Action-context segments drive action-aware RoNIN-based position compensation for carrying-mode-dependent drift. Experiments on cross-floor and multi-action trajectories against LiDAR-SLAM references show that the proposed framework outperforms PDR and representative learned inertial odometry baselines, demonstrating that hierarchical semantics provide reliable, localization-specific correction cues.

Character-Level Prosody Control for Mandarin Speech Synthesis:An Architecture-Preserving Approach

Diankun An, Lu Ma, Yongliang Wang, Zhewen Su, Xin Tian

This paper addresses fine-grained prosody control for large-language-model (LLM) based text-to-speech (TTS) synthesis of Mandarin Chinese, motivated by multimedia content-creation scenarios---film dubbing, audiobook production, and interactive voice interfaces---in which prosodic adjustments must be placed on specific characters rather than applied uniformly to whole utterances. We present a data-driven framework in which fine-grained prosodic markers (pitch, duration, energy, and pause) are automatically extracted from raw audio at scale and embedded into the text stream as out-of-vocabulary Unicode symbols. The LLM of an existing TTS system is then fine-tuned to interpret these markers while its architecture remains unchanged, yielding character-level temporal control that complements existing utterance-level style control. An optional text-LLM front-end can translate natural-language instructions into marker sequences. Experiments on 2.15M Mandarin utterances (5,858 hours) with CosyVoice2 as the backbone demonstrate reliable control of character duration, pitch, pause duration, and global speaking rate, with perceptual quality essentially preserved. A cross-tokenizer analysis further indicates that the ASR-optimized tokenizer of the backbone attenuates prosodic variation relative to reconstruction-oriented alternatives---an observation we report as hypothesis-generating evidence for prosody-sensitive system design.

HeteGCD: Statistics-Aware Dual-Prototype Learning for Generalized Category Discovery on Heterophilous Graphs

Xuanzhi Xi, Tongze Zhang, Zhili Qin, Yulin Tao, Hongliang Wang, Zhong Zhang, Qinli Yang, Junming Shao

Heterophilous graphs are prevalent in real-world applications, where connected nodes often exhibit dissimilar attributes or belong to different classes, posing significant challenges to conventional graph learning methods based on homophily. This limitation becomes particularly pronounced in generalized category discovery (GCD), which requires models to recognize known classes and discover novel ones using labels from known classes only. However, existing graph GCD methods typically rely on aforementioned homophily-based inductive biases, which are ill-suited to heterophilous graphs. Meanwhile, although current heterophilous graph learning methods exploit diverse neighborhood signals, their selection and fusion are often guided by supervision across all classes, including novel classes whose labels are unavailable in GCD. These limitations raise a key question: how can heterogeneous neighborhood information be effectively leveraged for category discovery without any novel-class supervision? To answer this question, in this study we propose HeteGCD, a new statistics-aware dual-prototype learning perspective for generalized category discovery on heterophilous graphs. The key idea is to examine both statistics of local attribute differences and neighborhood class distribution to extract discriminative information in feature and probability spaces simultaneously. Specifically, a gated dual-stream encoder integrates both node attributes and local attribute-difference statistics to learn informative node representations. Afterwards, a dual-prototype classifier combines feature-based similarity with distribution-based consistency to support category discovery. Experiments on five heterophilous graphs show that HeteGCD achieves competitive performance against 24 baseline combinations.

AWARE: Action-Entropy-Weighted and Attention-Guided Retrieval of Observation Evidence for Vision-Language-Action Models

Jiabing Yang, Yixiang Chen, Yuan Xu, Peiyan Li, Zichen Wen, Bowen Fang, Chenhang Cui, Tao Yu 等 16 位作者

Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models combine multimodal perception with robotic control, demonstrating remarkable potential for generalizable manipulation. Yet, enhancing their execution typically relies on auxiliary sensory inputs (e.g., depth, 3D point clouds) or costly fine-tuning. Inspired by the insight that Feed-Forward Networks (FFNs) act as key-value memory, we propose Action-Entropy-Weighted and Attention-Guided Retrieval of Observation Evidence (AWARE), an effective, training-free, and plug-and-play module for VLAs. Specifically, AWARE tracks layer-wise uncertainty via an element-wise Action Entropy metric, and retrieves observation evidence into the element's FFN through associative memory lookup. Crucially, the retrieved features are weighted by instruction-guided cross-modal attention to isolate task-relevant observation cues, while injection strength is adaptively scaled by the element's entropy and relative network depth. This selectively channels observation evidence to high-entropy action dimensions and deep layers where grounding decays, while leaving converged representations intact. Across LIBERO, SIMPLER, CALVIN, and real-world robot manipulation, AWARE consistently improves diverse VLA architectures with minimal computational overhead, achieving the largest gains on long-horizon tasks without architectural changes or additional training. A Unified Arena for LLM Agents across Diverse Eurogame

Fengrui Zhang, Xiang Li, Ruomeng Ding, Jiayi Yuan, Yuchen Huang, Zhaoyang Han, Xiaoliang Wang, Daoyuan Chen 等 9 位作者

Interactive environments offer a practical way to evaluate large language model (LLM) agents, and competitive games extend this evaluation to decisions shaped by competing goals and other agents' choices. Yet existing evaluations confined to individual games or execution frameworks leave unclear which competitive advantages persist across settings. We introduce DECE (Diverse Eurogame Competitive Environments), a unified arena spanning ten Eurogames with shared interfaces and evaluation protocols. These games combine lasting strategic commitments, competition over shared resources, and multiple routes to victory. Our primary study evaluates 12 model-harness configurations, spanning nine models and four execution harnesses, in 480 three-player matches across ten games. The main and supplementary studies comprise 1,032 completed matches in total. These comparisons reveal broad cross-game ranking agreement alongside game-specific strengths. Matched studies show that the same model can perform differently across execution harnesses, adding another source of variation to these profiles. These performance advantages do not consistently translate into better token or cost efficiency, making resource use an additional consideration when comparing configurations. Together, the findings support evaluating complete agent configurations by both their competitive performance across games and the resources needed to achieve it.

Unbiased Alignment for Large Language Models with Noisy Preferences

Jialiang Wang, Xianming Liu, Xiong Zhou, Hui Liu, Haoliang Li

The alignment of large language models with human preferences is commonly achieved through Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback or Direct Preference Optimization. However, these methods are vulnerable to the significant noise prevalent in real-world preference datasets. To address this critical issue, we present a theoretical framework for unbiased alignment, introducing the Unbiased Reward Model (URM) loss and the Unbiased Direct Preference Optimization (UDPO) loss. By mathematically correcting the distortion induced by preference noise, our novel objectives enable unbiased model training directly from noisy datasets, without requiring clean ground-truth supervision. We provide rigorous theoretical analyses demonstrating that our methods are noise-tolerant, parameter downward compatible, and classification-calibrated. Comprehensive experiments across diverse datasets demonstrate that our approaches outperform state-of-the-art baselines. Code available at: https://github.com/cswjl/unbiased-alignment.

MedEvo: Medical Reasoning Evolution through Knowledge Navigation

Xiaoliang Wang, Zhuo Chen, Chuanyang Zheng, Quanbin Wang, Jiangwei Lao, Yingao Liu, Jiajia Liu, Jinming Cao 等 14 位作者

Medical multimodal reasoning models are typically trained on teacher-generated rationales, discarding the valid reasoning in students' own failed trajectories, while general-domain correction methods offer little guidance for errors in image reading, anatomical context, or differential diagnosis. We propose MedEvo, which uses medical knowledge, namely a tag taxonomy and error-type diagnosis, to navigate both trajectory repair and data selection. For each failed rollout, a gold-blind auditor locates the first consequential error and provides a minimal, answer-free hint; the same student retains the valid prefix and regenerates the erroneous suffix. After each round, MedEvo identifies capability gaps across medical tags on a held-out feedback set and prioritizes related questions for new rollouts and repairs. With supervised fine-tuning (SFT) alone, MedEvo raises Qwen3.5-9B mean accuracy across seven benchmarks from 65.57% to 69.12% (47.40% to 54.50% on the multimodal track of MedXpertQA (MedXpertQA-MM)), surpassing teacher-distillation SFT (66.93%). It also raises Qwen3.5-35B and Qwen3.5-397B mean accuracy from 67.91% to 73.04% and from 71.83% to 74.95%, respectively. Our analyses show that failed trajectories contain reasoning worth preserving, that repair success does not imply learning value, and that independent feedback is key to sustained improvement.

ECG-RSI: Recursive Self-Improvement through Targeted Electrocardiogram Waveform Evolution

Xiaoliang Wang, Zhuo Chen, Chuanyang Zheng, Jiangwei Lao, Quanbin Wang, Honglin Lin, Jiajia Liu, Zhihong Lu 等 12 位作者

Electrocardiogram (ECG) models need supervision that targets evolving weaknesses and remains faithful to waveform evidence. We introduce ECG-RSI, a recursive self-improvement framework combining verified waveform synthesis with feedback-guided intervention search. Signal remeasurement verifies waveform edits; construction errors guide generator repair, while learner errors motivate interventions compared on a separate selection set. Across seven benchmarks, three rounds raise Qwen3.5-35B-A3B's mean question-answering accuracy from 34.57% to 56.04% and mean classification F1 from 24.27 to 34.03. Across the retained trajectory, the preferred supervision shifts from direct reinforcement to confusion-focused contrasts. Continued feedback correction yields diminishing external gains. These results motivate separating error diagnosis from intervention selection and checking whether gains on the feedback set transfer to independent benchmarks.

Change2Task: From Repository Changes to Executable Coding Agent Tasks and Environments

Haomin Qi, Xingliang Wang, Xuanqi Gao, Baihui Sang, Xin Zhang, Minghua Ma, Pengfei Gao, Yu Kang 等 12 位作者

Scaling coding agents requires a continuing supply of executable data for training, benchmarking, and continuous evaluation. Each task must couple a realistic software state with a specification, development tools, and reliable verification. To expand this supply, we present Change2Task, a system grounded in repository history that converts merged pull requests (PRs) into verified tasks on healthy modern revisions of the same repository. It aligns historical evidence with evolved code, reconstructs task states through Patch Reversal, Code Mapping, or Agent Reconstruction, and validates the lifecycle from a healthy base to a task state and a restored state. By deriving multiple tasks grounded in developer evidence from maintained environments, Change2Task provides executable data for coding agent training and evaluation while reducing repeated environment setup, storage, and task construction effort. We evaluate five coding agent task families: Bug Fix, Feature Addition, Test Generation, Application Programming Interface (API) Migration, and Security Repair. Starting from 1,130 source changes eligible for construction, Change2Task achieves 79.6% verified task construction success across these task families. On a matched candidate set, it recovers 29.2% more verified tasks than a construction baseline based on PRs. Historical and reconstructed cases achieve 89.7% aggregate matched outcome agreement under agent evaluation, while reuse of modern bases reduces measured expenditure across the complete pipeline by 10.8%. Four matched studies examine construction stages, semantic review, branch consistency, and resource trade-offs. An industrial deployment further constructs 1,000 tasks from private PR histories and evaluates four models on a fixed 500-task cohort.

Two Pathways to Truthfulness: On the Intrinsic Encoding of LLM Hallucinations

Wen Luo Peking University, Guangyue Peng Peking University, Wei Li, Shaohang Wei Peking University, Feifan Song Peking University, Liang Wang Microsoft Research, Nan Yang Microsoft Research Asia, Xingxing Zhang Microsoft Research Asia 等 11 位作者

Despite their impressive capabilities, large language models (LLMs) frequently generate hallucinations. Previous work shows that their internal states encode rich signals of truthfulness, yet the origins and mechanisms of these signals remain unclear. In this paper, we demonstrate that truthfulness cues arise from two distinct information pathways: (1) a Question-Anchored pathway that depends on question–answer information flow, and (2) an Answer-Anchored pathway that derives self-contained evidence from the generated answer itself. First, we validate and disentangle these pathways through attention knockout and token patching. Afterwards, we uncover notable and intriguing properties of these two mechanisms. Further experiments reveal that (1) the two mechanisms are closely associated with LLM knowledge boundaries; and (2) internal representations are aware of their distinctions. Finally, building on these insightful findings, two applications are proposed to enhance hallucination detection performance. Overall, our work provides new insight into how LLMs internally encode truthfulness, offering directions for more reliable and self-aware generative systems.

Lizard: An Efficient Linearization Framework for Large Language Models

Chien Van Nguyen University of Oregon, Huy Huu Nguyen, Ruiyi Zhang, Hanieh Deilamsalehy Adobe Systems, Puneet Mathur Adobe Systems, Viet Dac Lai Adobe Systems, Haoliang Wang Adobe Research, Jayakumar Subramanian Adobe Systems 等 13 位作者

We propose Lizard, a linearization framework that transforms pretrained Transformer-based Large Language Models (LLMs) into subquadratic architectures. Transformers faces severe computational and memory bottlenecks with long sequences due to the quadratic complexity of softmax attention and the growing Key-Value (KV) cache that makes inference memory-bound by context length. Lizard addresses these limitations by introducing a subquadratic attention mechanism that closely approximates softmax attention while preserving model quality. Unlike prior linearization methods constrained by fixed, non-adaptive structures, Lizard augments the architecture with compact, learnable modules that enable adaptive memory control and robust length generalization. Moreover, we introduce a hardware-aware algorithm that solves numerical instability in gated attention to accelerate training. Extensive experiments show that Lizard achieves near-lossless recovery of its teacher model’s performance, significantly outperforming previous methods by up to 9.4 - 24.5 points on the 5-shot MMLU benchmark and demonstrating superior associative recall.

RealChart2Code: Bridging the Gap in Real-World Chart-to-Code Generation via Multi-Task Evaluation

Jiajun Zhang, Yuying Li, Zhixun Li, Xingyu Guo, Jingzhuo Wu, Leqi Zheng, Yiran Yang, Jianke Zhang 等 15 位作者

Vision-Language Models (VLMs) have demonstrated impressive capabilities in code generation across various domains. However, their ability to replicate complex, multi-panel visualizations from real-world data remains largely unassessed. To address this gap, we introduce RealChart2Code, a new large-scale benchmark with over 2,800 instances grounded in authentic datasets and featuring tasks with clear analytical intent. Crucially, it is the first benchmark to systematically evaluate chart generation from large-scale raw data and assess iterative code refinement in a multi-turn conversational setting. Our comprehensive evaluation of 14 leading VLMs on RealChart2Code reveals significant performance degradation compared to simpler benchmarks, highlighting their struggles with complex plot structures and authentic data. Our analysis uncovers a substantial performance gap between proprietary and open-weight models and confirms that even state-of-the-art VLMs often fail to accurately replicate intricate, multi-panel charts. These findings provide valuable insights into the current limitations of VLMs and guide future research directions.

MoCa: Modality-aware Continual Pre-training Makes Better Bidirectional Multimodal Embeddings

Haonan Chen, Hong Liu, Yuping Luo, Liang Wang Microsoft Research, Nan Yang Microsoft Research Asia, Furu Wei Microsoft Research, Zhicheng Dou Renmin University of China

Multimodal embedding models, built upon causal Vision Language Models (VLMs), have shown promise in various tasks. However, current approaches face three limitations: causal attention in VLM backbones is suboptimal for embedding tasks; scalability issues due to reliance on high-quality labeled paired data for contrastive learning; and limited diversity in training objectives and data. To address these issues, we propose MoCa, a two-stage framework for transforming pre-trained VLMs into bidirectional multimodal embedding models. The first stage, Modality-aware Continual Pre-training, introduces a joint reconstruction objective that simultaneously denoises interleaved texts and images, enhancing bidirectional context-aware reasoning. The second stage, Heterogeneous Contrastive Fine-tuning, leverages diverse, semantically rich multimodal data beyond simple image-caption pairs to enhance generalization and alignment. Our method addresses the stated limitations by introducing bidirectional attention through continual pre-training, scaling effectively with massive unlabeled datasets via joint reconstruction objectives, and utilizing diverse multimodal data for enhanced representation robustness. Experiments demonstrate that MoCa consistently improves performance across MMEB and ViDoRe-v2 benchmarks, achieving new state-of-the-arts, and exhibits strong scalability with both model size and training data on MMEB.We have released the model weights and data on our project page https://haon-chen.github.io/MoCa/.

From Completion to Editing: Unlocking Context-Aware Code Infilling via Search-and-Replace Instruction Tuning

The dominant Fill-in-the-Middle (FIM) paradigm for code completion is constrained by its rigid inability to correct contextual errors and reliance on unaligned, insecure Base models. While Chat LLMs offer safety and Agentic workflows provide flexibility, they suffer from performance degradation and prohibitive latency, respectively. To resolve this dilemma, we propose Search-and-Replace Infilling (SRI), a framework that internalizes the agentic verification-and-editing mechanism into a unified, single-pass inference process. By structurally grounding edits via an explicit search phase, SRI harmonizes completion tasks with the instruction-following priors of Chat LLMs, extending the paradigm from static infilling to dynamic context-aware editing. We synthesize a high-quality dataset, SRI-200K, and fine-tune the SRI-Coder series. Extensive evaluations demonstrate that with minimal data (20k samples), SRI-Coder enables Chat models to surpass the completion performance of their Base counterparts. Crucially, unlike FIM-style tuning, SRI preserves general coding competencies and maintains inference latency comparable to standard FIM. We release our dataset and models, establishing SRI as a robust, secure, and efficient alignment recipe for next-generation interactive development.

Scaling Law for Multimodal Large Language Model Supervised Fine-Tuning

YiFan Zhang, Tao Yu, Feng Li, Chaoyou Fu Nanjing University, Yibo Hu Taobao, Kun Wang, Qingsong Wen, Zhang Zhang Institute of automation, Chinese academy of science, Chinese Academy of Sciences 等 10 位作者

The supervised fine-tuning (SFT) stage is crucial for multimodal large language models (MLLMs), yet a comprehensive scaling law to guide the optimal model-data configuration remains lacking. In this paper, we make an initial attempt to address this gap. First, we theoretically demonstrate that directly computing the optimal computation frontier for MLLM-SFT, as we can for traditional LLMs, is a challenging task. This complexity arises because MLLM-SFT is influenced by a broader range of factors, including model size, LLM pre-training tokens, and MLLM SFT tokens. To tackle this issue, we propose two scaling laws based on LLM paradigms: one applicable when training data volumes are well defined by researchers, and another for cases where models are sourced from open communities with unknown training data. Through theoretical modeling and approximations, we provide researchers with valuable recommendations for optimal resource allocation. Furthermore, we establish a strong correlation ( R^2 = 0.98) between training loss and downstream performance, enabling accurate performance estimation without the need for exhaustive benchmarking. To validate our scaling laws, we construct a testbed of 60 models ranging from 50 million to 8 billion parameters, totaling 1,560 checkpoints. Each checkpoint is evaluated on than 10 MLLM benchmarks, ensuring robust fitting of our formulations.

In open-ended domains, teams must reconcile diverse viewpoints to produce strong deliverables. Answer aggregation approaches commonly used in closed domains are ill-suited to this setting, as they tend to suppress minority perspectives rather than resolve underlying disagreements. We present TeamFusion, a multi-agent system designed to support teamwork in open-ended domains by: 1. Instantiating a proxy agent for each team member conditioned on their expressed preferences; 2. Conducting a structured discussion to elicit agreements and disagreements; and 3. Synthesizing more consensus-oriented deliverables that feed into new iterations of discussion and synthesis. We evaluate TeamFusion on two teamwork tasks where team members can judge how well their individual views are represented in team decisions and how consensually good the final deliverables are, finding that it outperforms direct aggregation baselines across metrics, tasks, and team configurations.
