Encode Once, Answer Many: Internalizing Context via Parametric Flow

Large language models are typically adapted to a task either by placing knowledge in the input context, which keeps it external and re-encodes it on every call, or by fine-tuning, which internalizes it but demands a costly round of optimization per task. We aim to internalize the knowledge carried by a context directly into model parameters, without per-task optimization and without keeping the context in the input at inference time. To this end, we propose CLIK, a context-conditioned parameter generator that maps a given context to LoRA parameters for internalizing knowledge in a single forward pass through a Transformer encoder with cross-attention, requiring no test-time gradient updates. Once the generated LoRA is inserted into a frozen base model, the model answers downstream queries from the query alone, having internalized the context into its weights rather than re-reading it. Because the adapter depends only on the context, it is generated once and reused for every query on the same document, so the cost of reading that document is amortized across queries. On document question answering, CLIK substantially improves over the no-context base model and outperforms existing hypernetwork-based generators, while remaining behind a base model that reads the context directly, and it carries over to multi-turn dialogue without any multi-turn-specific training. Analysis further shows that the context-dependent part of the generated adapter concentrates in a compact and specific substructure.

MRC-MMAgent: Reinforcement Learning for Multi-Role Collaboration in Multimodal Tool-Using Agents

Shengqin Wang, Jie Jin, Xiaofan Li, Wentao Yan, Yu Cheng, Qingsong HuYihang Chen, Weilin Luo, Jingyu Gong 等 11 位作者

Multimodal tool-using agents augment vision-language models with access to external information and capabilities, enabling them to solve knowledge-intensive and visually complex tasks that cannot be addressed using visual context alone. However, existing reinforcement learning pipelines largely train single-role agents to search and answer using terminal rewards, overlooking how humans inspect retrieved evidence, reformulate queries, and revise conclusions during search. Consequently, they fail to optimize this self-corrective process over complete interaction trajectories. We propose MRC-MMAgent, a multi-role collaborative reinforcement learning framework that incorporates trajectory assessment and continuation directly into the executable agent loop. First, the framework establishes a multi-role collaborative loop that integrates solving, inspection, and continuation, enabling the agent to acquire evidence through tools, evaluate the preceding trajectory, and resume problem solving when the current answer is insufficiently supported. Second, we introduce a role-coupled learning objective that combines task success, interaction validity, and successful correction with full-trajectory policy optimization across the decisions generated by all roles. Extensive experiments show that, using only the original baseline training set without constructing additional datasets, our method consistently outperforms the corresponding base models and achieves leading or highly competitive performance across benchmarks.

E0.5: From Reconstructive to Future-Predictive 3D Foundations for Robotic World-Action Modeling

X-Era AI Lab Team, :, Jianhao Lai, Zhihao Zhan, Zhiquan Liao, Qichang Li, Shubin Chen, Zhiyuan Liu 等 28 位作者

World-action models (WAMs) offer a promising framework for embodied intelligence, yet mainstream approaches remain centered on video foundation models or vision-language models. Even when geometric features extracted by 3D models such as VGGT are incorporated, they are typically passed into a video model or VLM that serves as the primary backbone, leaving 3D geometry as an auxiliary input or prediction target rather than the native foundation for world modeling. We present E0.5, a geometry-native world-action model built directly on 3D foundation models. E0.5 introduces two key innovations. First, it adopts a 3D foundation model as the primary backbone, making 3D geometry the native representation for both world modeling and action prediction. Second, it explicitly predicts future 3D states together with actions, enabling the model to capture geometric world dynamics beyond action-only modeling or future video prediction. Experiments on RoboTwin 2.0 first demonstrate the effectiveness of E0.5 without embodied-data pretraining, achieving success rates of 89.90\% and 50.09\% under clean and randomized settings, respectively. Building on these results, we further pretrain E0.5 on more than 160k robot trajectories from AgiBotWorld-Beta, jointly learning robot actions and future geometry within the pretrained 3D foundation. This embodied pretraining improves mean real-world manipulation success rates by approximately 15 and 7 percentage points on AgileX Piper and Zerith H1, respectively. Together, these results demonstrate the potential of geometry-native foundations to acquire robot interaction knowledge and transfer it to physical manipulation. E0.5 embodies this geometry-native approach as a member of the VWA family of world-action models.

DeepResearch Retail: Benchmarking Tool-Augmented Deep Research in the E-Commerce Domain

Rafael Ferreira, Flavio Di Palo, Huilin Lu, Ayush Jain, Harsha Aduri

Deep Research (DR) systems autonomously retrieve and synthesize information from web sources, however, industrial DR applications face a critical gap: effective integration of internal tools with web search. In this work, we introduce DeepResearch Retail, an evaluation framework grounded in real-world e-commerce data for assessing Deep Research with tools (DR+Tools) in realistic commercial settings. The framework evaluates both factual faithfulness and multidimensional response quality when reasoning over heterogeneous web and internal data sources. We further present Hybrid-ReAct, a multi-agent architecture that demonstrates how collaborative reasoning and tool use can produce evidence-grounded answers. Experimental results validate our framework’s utility, showing improvements in agent’s performance when leveraging web-page information and multi-agent specialization.

SafeAgent: Safeguarding LLM Agents via an Automated Risk Simulator

Xueyang Zhou, Weidong Wang, Lin Lu, Jiawen Shi, Guiyao Tie, Xu Yongtian, Lixing Chen Shanghai Jiaotong University, Pan Zhou Huazhong University of Science and Technology 等 10 位作者

LLM-based agents are rapidly being deployed in real-world applications (e.g., digital assistants and customer service), making safety a critical concern. However, in multi-turn, tool-augmented settings, dynamic user interactions, external tool use, and unintended harmful behaviors make robust safety assurance challenging. To address these challenges, we propose SafeAgent, a framework that improves agent safety through fully automated synthetic data generation. SafeAgent introduces (1) an open and extensible threat model OTS that decomposes agent risk into instruction-, context-, and action-induced sources to ground safety analysis and alignment; and (2) an automated pipeline that instantiates OTS to surface scenario-specific failure modes, stress-test agents, and generate self-reflective safe responses—without hazardous real-world data collection. We evaluate SafeAgent on two safety benchmarks and one real-world terminal task. Across four widely used open-source models, SafeAgent improves safety performance by 45% on average and delivers a 28.91% gain on the real-world task, outperforming state-of-the-art closed-source models. These results highlight the practical advancement and scalability of SafeAgent in building safer LLM agents for real-world deployment.

ACBQ: Adaptive Cross-Block Quantization of Large Language Models

Hailing Wang, Jianglin Lu, Yitian Zhang, Huimin Zeng Northeastern University, Yun Fu

Post-training quantization (PTQ) has emerged as a promising approach for reducing the memory footprint and computational cost of large language models (LLMs), enabling efficient deployment without full model retraining. However, existing PTQ methods struggle to simultaneously support weight–activation joint quantization and extreme low-bit weight quantization. This limitation primarily arises from the depth of LLMs and their strong cross-layer dependencies, which cause quantization errors to propagate and accumulate across layers, ultimately leading to significant performance degradation. In this paper, we present ACBQ, a simple yet effective framework that simultaneously addresses weight–activation joint quantization and extreme weight quantization. We first propose a granular quantization strategy that treats self-attention and FFN as separate quantization units with module-specific optimization objectives. To mitigate the propagation and accumulation of quantization errors across layers, we introduce an adaptive cross-block quantization strategy that explicitly accounts for cross-layer dependencies by encouraging consistency across blocks. Extensive experiments across diverse LLMs, including OPT and the LLaMA family, demonstrate that ACBQ achieves superior performance under both W4A4 and highly aggressive W2 settings, while incurring negligible additional computational overhead.

Revealing the Seen, Imagining the Beyond: A Survey of Image-Grounded Chain-of-Thought Reasoning in Multimodal LLMs

Qihua Dong, Yitian Zhang, Huimin Zeng Northeastern University, Yizhou Wang Adobe Systems, Jianglin Lu, Kuo Yang Northeastern University, Yun Fu

Multimodal large language models (MLLMs) are making rapid strides in complex visual reasoning. This survey synthesizes the emerging paradigm of Image-Grounded Chain-of-Thought (IG-CoT), where models ground intermediate inferences by interleaving textual rationales with visual state updates. We formalize IG-CoT, present a method-centric taxonomy covering prompting, supervised fine-tuning, and reinforcement learning, and map these techniques to representative benchmarks. Our analysis identifies two domains where IG-CoT offers significant advantages: detail-oriented reasoning requiring meticulous perception, and imagined-world reasoning for simulating unseen states in games, geometry, and planning. We discuss the practical trade-offs of current methods regarding controllability, data, and compute. We conclude by highlighting key challenges (efficiency, data quality, and generative capabilities) and outlining promising future directions, including lightweight architectures, richer intermediate supervision, and method-aware evaluations that better assess faithfulness and long-horizon reasoning. We maintain a continuously updated paper list at https://github.com/dddraxxx/Awesome-Image-Grounded-CoT.

Act as you think: Reinforcing Consistent Reasoning in Medical Visual Question Answering

Songtao Jiang, Yuan Wang, Ruizhe Chen, Yan Zhang ByteDance Inc., Ruilin Luo, Bohan Lei Zhejiang University, Yeying Jin, Sibo Song Alibaba Group 等 12 位作者

While reinforcement learning from verifiable rewards (RLVR) has been proven highly effective for enhancing reasoning, its application to medical visual question answering (Med-VQA) is hampered by models producing reasoning inconsistent with either the visual evidence or the final answer. Our analysis reveals a critical flaw in RLVR training: it paradoxically encourages models to disregard visual evidence and generate answers that contradict their own reasoning. This degradation is most pronounced in specialized medical modalities (e.g., Fundus, Ultrasound) where base VLMs lack robust understanding, a failure we attribute to a flawed reward mechanism exacerbated by the scarcity of diverse training data. To tackle this, we introduce Med-Zero-17K, a large-scale dataset spanning over 30 modalities and 24 clinically relevant tasks, and the Multi-Consistency Reward (MCR) framework, which explicitly rewards both perceptual grounding and logical coherence. Extensive experiments validate our approach: integrating MCR into the RLVR framework delivers robust performance gains. This success stems from our crucial finding that rewarding internal consistency is significantly more effective than attempting to judge reasoning correctness. Furthermore, MCR proves highly versatile, exhibiting strong generalization across diverse VLM backbones, compatibility with RL algorithms like GRPO and DPO, and extending its effectiveness to 3D VQA tasks and R1-style training paradigms. Code and dataset will be released.
