NOMA Assisted Coordinated Beam Hopping for VLEO Satellite Communication Systems

Jiayang Kang, Xinwei Yue, Xuyang Zhang, Tian Li, Peng Yang, Chunyu Pan, Shaoli Kang

This paper investigates a non-orthogonal multiple access assisted coordinated beam hopping (NOMA-CBH) scheme in multidimensional very low Earth orbit (VLEO) satellite communication systems, where multiple satellites employ CBH and coordinated beams jointly serve ground users and a dedicated ground station (GS). To characterize the VLEO-specific propagation environment, we develop a channel model that incorporates atmospheric attenuation, Doppler effects, and pointing perturbations. Building upon this architecture and channel model, a low-complexity decoupled (LCD) algorithm is designed to optimize beam scheduling and power allocation. We further derive closed-form outage probability expressions for the ground users and the GS, perform asymptotic analysis to characterize their diversity orders, and evaluate the delay-limited throughput. Simulation results demonstrate that: i) The NOMA-CBH with LCD algorithm achieves an enhanced system sum rate relative to orthogonal multiple access with coordinated beam hopping (OMA-CBH); ii) Across the considered heterogeneous traffic-demand operating points, the NOMA-CBH scheme achieves higher aggregate delivered traffic than the benchmark schemes; and iii) The outage performance of NOMA-CBH is better than that of OMA-CBH.

Amortized Optimization for Calibrating Stochastic Social Simulators

Muyao Zhong, Peng Yang

Stochastic simulators need suitable parameter values to reproduce observed behaviour in complex systems. Searching for these values through repeated simulations makes frequent recalibration computationally expensive. We develop an amortized optimizer that uses simulations collected in advance to learn how to choose parameters that make simulated outcomes agree with observations. Once fitted, it maps new observations to feasible parameters without further simulator calls. The method retains alternative parameter settings that can explain similar observations and compares their responses, avoiding the conflicting labels that arise when training a single parameter regressor. Historical observations also provide supervision by showing which simulated responses agree with the data, even when the underlying parameters are unknown. Experiments across four simulators compare calibration accuracy and query time. Dedicated cost analyses quantify traffic preparation and the recorded financial reuse costs. On new traffic targets, local correction more than halves query time relative to empirical and surrogate selection; a learned inverse is faster still, with similar mean error. In a retrospective comparison on real financial data, our method returns parameters about $1.07\times10^{7}$ times faster than a 10-minute Gaussian-process Bayesian optimization search, with mean calibration error 3.06% higher. Reusing simulation work across observations supports repeated parameter updates when the available time is too short for a new search.

SPADE: Spatiotemporal Preference Alignment and Diversity Enhancement for Local Search

Chenxu Wang, Wenxuan Yang, Yueqi Mou, Shuxian Bi, Biao Tang, Peng Yan

Proactive query recommendation aims to suggest relevant search queries to users on the homepage of local service apps. Unlike conventional recommendation over a fixed item set, this requires open-set generation from a vocabulary of millions, where outputs must simultaneously align with user preference, match fine-grained spatiotemporal context, cover long-tail intents, and provide diverse alternatives within a few candidate slots. Existing approaches address these axes in isolation: standard tokenization suppresses long-tail queries, coarse location encoding misses fine-grained geographic demand, generic preference optimization fails to align with production impression-click distributions, and standard beam search collapses to near-duplicate outputs. We present SPADE (Spatiotemporal Preference Alignment and Diversity Enhancement), an end-to-end generative framework that jointly optimizes the generation space, contextual representation, preference distribution, and output slate quality through four components: Objective-Aligned BPE (OA-BPE) aligns subword merging with business value signals to boost long-tail query generation probability; Spatio-Temporal Adaptive Representation (STAR) replaces coarse location tokens with continuous multi-scale encodings and soft gating for precise spatiotemporal grounding; MARS-DPO (Multi-dimensional Adaptive Reward Sampling DPO) combines cross-domain pre-training with preference alignment on production impression-click data via composite rewards and adaptive hard negative sampling; and Sigmoid Diversity Beam Search (SDBS) improves intent coverage without sacrificing recall. Offline experiments on large-scale production data show that SPADE outperforms the strongest generative baseline by +5.6% HR@5, -40.3% GeoC@5, and +1.9% Exec@5. A one-week online A/B test confirms production impact: +1.88% Module CTR, +0.177% Search Volume, and +0.105% Search DAU.

DualEvolve: Dual-Level Self-Evolution of Mechanism and Orchestration for Recommendation

Tianqi Gao, Chenxu Wang, Wenxuan Yang, Yueqi Mou, Biao Tang, Ming Liu, Peng Yan

Recommender systems are widely used in e-commerce and content platforms, where improvement requires repeated model design, training optimization, and experimental validation. Large language model (LLM) agents increasingly automate this development cycle. Sustained autonomous improvement requires agents to improve both recommendation models and their development workflows. However, task-performance-driven approaches select updates mainly by candidates' final scores, without a separate optimization signal for experimentation quality. We therefore present DualEvolve, a dual-level framework that co-evolves recommendation mechanisms and agent orchestration toward recursive self-improvement. Inner evolution revises model and training code using task feedback to improve recommendation performance. Outer evolution scores the inner-loop experimental process, updates harness and skill rules using these scores and execution traces, and adjusts orchestration choices based on next-round scores to improve the quality of subsequent experiments. Experiments on MovieLens-1M and three Amazon Reviews 2023 subsets cover four recommendation methods and 16 settings. DualEvolve achieves higher test means than Base, OpenEvolve, and DeepEvolve in all 64 setting-metric comparisons, with macro-averaged relative gains over DeepEvolve of 7.6% (HR@5) and 9.0% (NDCG@5).

VideoLVR: Latent Visual Reasoning over Grounded Video Evidence

Shilong Li, Xingyuan Bu, Hao Shi, Yun Xing, Weixin Feng, Qiangpeng Yang, Shilei Wen

Chain-of-thought reasoning has substantially advanced video understanding in multimodal large language models (MLLMs). However, language-based reasoning traces do not provide a reliable mechanism for models to revisit relevant visual evidence, leading to visual forgetting and impairing their ability to reason over video content. Existing approaches maintain visual grounding during reasoning in two main ways: they either refer to evidence using textual coordinates, which specify symbolic locations rather than the visual content itself, or reinsert cropped regions or frames into the multimodal context, preserving visual details at the cost of substantial context expansion. To address these limitations, we introduce VideoLVR, which constructs latent visual evidence from local regions at relevant video moments, thereby providing visual support for intermediate reasoning steps. To supervise latent visual evidence generation, we introduce a visual token prediction objective that formulates visual token reconstruction as prediction over a vocabulary derived from the input video, thereby unifying visual evidence reconstruction and text generation within the same token prediction framework. This shared prediction framework enables MLLMs to reason over interleaved text tokens and latent visual states while integrating evidence from different moments. We further extend VideoLVR to reinforcement learning by treating sampled visual tokens as actions alongside text tokens and jointly optimizing the policy using final-answer rewards. By efficiently revisiting task-relevant visual information during reasoning, VideoLVR improves video understanding without substantially expanding the multimodal context. Experiments on multiple video benchmarks demonstrate its effectiveness, especially on tasks requiring fine-grained visual evidence.

Understanding Python Linters through a Comprehensive and Systematic Empirical Study

Qingyun Yang, Zejun Zhang, Dapeng Yan, Tian Zhang, Zhenchang Xing, Yi Li, Zhiming Liu

Code linters, tools that automatically detect code issues, help developers accelerate development and improve code quality by identifying errors early. Unlike previous studies that focused mainly on single linters or informal comparisons, this paper presents the first large-scale empirical study of five widely used Python linters: Ruff, Pylint, Flake8, Mypy and Black, through four key user concerns: linting rule checks, speed, configuration methods, and linter preferences. We analyze 1,551 linting rules, categorize them into five types, and construct rule mappings, finding that more than 40% are shared between multiple linters, with Ruff and Pylint together covering over 80% of all rules. Pylint has the most rules in the first two categories, and Ruff leads in the last three. Next, we measure their running times on 1,000 GitHub projects under three setups (single-rule, default, all-rules), finding a consistent speed ranking from fastest to slowest: Ruff, Mypy, Flake8, Black, and Pylint. Ruff is extremely fast, with runtimes typically within one second. Then, we summarize four configuration methods and four types of configuration options from 443 available options across the five linters. While all linters support the four configuration methods, they differ in project configuration formats and flexibility in their configuration options. Finally, an analysis of 3,094 GitHub projects using the five linters reveals that over 50% use multiple linters, share strong consensus on option selections and rule suppressions, but exhibit project-specific variations in enabled-rule configurations. Our findings provide actionable insights for linter users and establish a benchmark dataset and taxonomy to support future research, such as cross-linter rule mapping, performance modeling, and automated configuration.

ReList: A Multi-objective Reasoning Framework for Diversified Listwise Query Recommendation

Shuxian Bi, Chenxu Wang, Wenjie Wang, Yueqi Mou, Fuli Feng, Tang Biao, Peng Yan

Related search query recommendation is essential for enhancing user engagement and information discovery on digital platforms. While Large Language Models (LLMs) have shifted the field toward generative retrieval, existing methods suffer from two primary limitations: (1) pointwise generation via beam search often leads to semantic redundancy and wasted retrieval quota, and (2) current listwise approaches lack explicit reasoning, relying on superficial click-through rate (CTR) rewards. In this paper, we propose ReList, a novel framework that transforms related search into a reasoning-enhanced listwise generation task. ReList follows a two-stage training paradigm: first, Reasoning Activation constructs a high-quality dataset by back-translating diverse query lists into Chain-of-Thought (CoT) rationales; second, Alternative Training iteratively evolves the model using Reinforcement Learning with a Gated Multi-Objective Reward and a Corrective SFT mechanism to handle hard samples. Experimental results on real-world search benchmarks and online A/B tests demonstrate that ReList significantly outperforms state-of-the-art methods in both query diversity and user engagement, providing more insightful and logically grounded query recommendations.

TrendFact: A Benchmark Towards Hotspot Perception in Automatic Fact-Checking

Xiaocheng Zhang Meituan, Xi Wang, Yifei Lu Qiantang Credit, Jianing Wang, Zhuangzhuang Ye, Mengjiao Bao Meituan, Peng Yan Meituan, Xiaohong Su

With the surge of online misinformation, Large Language Models (LLMs) and Reasoning Large Language Models (RLMs) serving as Automatic Fact-Checking (AFC) systems have emerged as a prominent paradigm for reliable, explainable verification. However, our empirical study reveals that this paradigm faces a critical risk asymmetry challenge when deployed in real-world under resource-constrained environments. While Hotspot Perception Ability (HPA), the capacity to dynamically allocate reasoning resources based on social impact, is essential to mitigate this risk, existing benchmarks lack the social metadata and evaluation framework to meet this urgent evaluation needs, thereby hindering the advancement of these AFC systems. To bridge this gap, we introduce TrendFact, the first benchmark capable of evaluating HPA and three fact-checking tasks. It consists of 7,643 curated samples sourced from trending platforms and professional datasets, with an evidence library containing 366,634 entries. To enable HPA assessment, we propose two novel metrics: the Explanation Consistency Score (ECS) to evaluate the reliability of verification reasoning, and the Hotspot Claim Perception Index (HCPI) to quantify the overall HPA of AFC systems. Extensive experiments demonstrate that existing AFC systems exhibit limited performance on TrendFact. Furthermore, our proposed FactISR framework effectively enhances HPA and computational efficiency for RLM-driven systems.
