PartiGen: Part-Aware Representations for Language-Conditioned Humanoid Motion Generation

原文摘要

Translating language into humanoid motion requires coordinating body parts, determining motion duration, and producing references suitable for robot execution. We introduce PartiGen, a part-aware latent diffusion framework that incorporates anatomical structure into a shared whole-body motion representation. Part-specific attention processes anatomically masked frame features, and its outputs are fused to combine local limb information with whole-body context. Conditioned on text and motion history, the model generates motion primitives autoregressively. Forward-kinematics supervision encourages kinematic consistency, while a learned end-of-sequence predictor selects a frame-level endpoint after generation. On HumanML3D retargeted to the Unitree G1, PartiGen achieves a segment-level FID of 3.165, a 16.8% reduction over TextOp, and improves R@1 by 1.4 percentage points. In the duration study with 16-frame primitives, endpoint prediction reduces mean absolute duration error from 12.471 to 3.080 frames compared with a fixed-length cutoff. We further evaluate robot execution using a pretrained, frozen GRIT tracker: 409 of 500 generated references (81.8%) pass the posture-based stability screen in MuJoCo. Following simulation screening and manual selection, 26 of 27 attempted motions are judged successful on the real G1.

META-Robot: Self-Cognition and Capability Scaling in Agentic Robots

原文摘要

LLM-based robotic agent systems can generate programs for robot control, yet their generalization to new tasks often depends on elaborate scaffolding. Expanding their skill repertoires alone offers limited guidance on how to assess new capabilities or identify what remains beyond their reach. We introduce META-Robot, a framework that couples self cognition with capability scaling by expanding the criteria through which an agent evaluates and develops its skills. At its core, action-level predicates make execution outcomes explicit and available for LLM reasoning. The agent uses these assessments to identify its own limitations, extend relevant evaluation criteria, and guide the structured expansion of its skills. Proprioceptive feedback further grounds this process in the robot's physical state, enriching the evidence available for self-cognition. Experiments in simulation and on real robots demonstrate stronger overall task performance, generalization to new tasks, continued expansion of skills and evaluation criteria, and effective use of non-visual proprioceptive signals.

On the Generalization Limitation of On-Policy Distillation for Post-RL Consolidation

Yichen Wang, Yufa Zhou, Siqi Zhu, Haozheng Luo, Jingzhi Bao, Zhichao Liu, Zijun Wei

原文摘要

Multi-teacher on-policy distillation (MOPD) extends on-policy distillation (OPD) to consolidate capabilities from multiple teachers. Although prior work reports near-perfect in-distribution (IND) distillation performance, we find that this can mask incomplete capability consolidation beyond the supervised distribution. A preliminary study on synthetic reasoning shows that OPD does not fully transfer teachers' generalization capabilities. We then extend this investigation to real-world tasks, evaluating extrapolative and compositional generalization across mathematical reasoning, coding, agent, and long-context capabilities using Qwen3 models. Across extrapolative settings, OPD and MOPD reach 96.04-102.73% of their teachers' IND scores. Yet their out-of-distribution (OOD) scores remain 2.45-16.25% below the base model's. Across three compositional settings, MOPD improves IND performance over the base model, but its performance on composed tasks as OOD remains 18.19-24.34% below that of the best teachers. To understand these gaps, we examine teacher capability and data coverage as two potential bottlenecks. Jointly alleviating these bottlenecks eliminates OOD forgetting in our experiments and suggests the potential for generalization beyond the teacher. (M)OPD also reduces OOD forgetting on average relative to its reinforcement learning (RL) baselines. Analysis of the associated update geometry reveals smaller and more spectrally concentrated updates on average than those of the RL baselines, along with greater shared update structure under MOPD. Motivated by these findings, we propose geometry-based patching and base-preserving replay to improve OOD performance while largely preserving IND performance. Our findings identify a blind spot in capability consolidation via (M)OPD, highlighting the need for algorithms that explicitly support OOD retention and generalization.

One Assistant, Many Memories: Benchmarking Real-World Group Assistance When Recall Is Not Enough

Zhanghao Hu, Linhai Zhang, Qian Zhao, Qi Zhu, Yuan Hua, Di Liang, Jiasheng Si, Xin Zhao 等 11 位作者

原文摘要

The value of memory lies not only in recall but in using it to provide appropriate assistance. Recent benchmarks test memory use in personalisation and agentic tasks, but seldom evaluate assistance without fixed answers or integration across multiple participants. Group chats make both challenges more acute: an assistant must integrate information from multiple members, track revisions and conflicts over time, and produce one response for the group. Yet existing group memory benchmarks rely on synthetic conversations and inherit constrained evaluation from general memory benchmarks, focusing on recall against fixed answers or decisions over a closed set. We introduce GroupAssistBench, the first memory benchmark from real-world group conversations with a deployed group assistant, covering 80,299 messages in 50 groups and costing over $53K. Over the same histories, GroupAssistBench evaluates memory recall (L1) with reference answers and memory use (L2) with service requests without fixed answers across single, distributed, and conflicting memories (M1--M3). Requests are verified to require group history, memories are anchored to their sources, and L2 uses tailored rubrics with penalties derived from real user feedback. Across evaluations of frontier models with full context, retrieval methods, and memory systems, the strongest memory system rivals full context on recall but falls far behind on use, especially for distributed and conflicting memories. Together, two additions that relate retrieved memories and bind remembered facts as response constraints bring consistent gains, showing that group memory systems must improve use, not recall alone.

Constructing and Evaluating Clinical Reasoning Trajectories for Medical Agent

Yunqi Zhu, Wen Tang, Jinghao Niu, Wensheng Zhang, Xuebing Yang

原文摘要

Evaluation of medical artificial intelligence (AI) agents remains predominantly answer-centric, assessing only the correctness of final outputs while overlooking the quality of intermediate reasoning. We propose MedTraj, a framework that treats reasoning trajectories as primary objects for modeling the progressive refinement of clinical evidence toward diagnostic decisions. A reasoning trajectory captures the state transitions among medical concepts---from clinical observations through evidential reasoning to a final conclusion---making the implicit reasoning chain of a medical agent explicit and inspectable. Each trajectory is scored across five quality dimensions: coherence, evidence support, hallucination, completeness, and traceability. Controlled error injection introduces targeted faults into otherwise correct trajectories to establish causal links between specific reasoning failures and measurable quality degradation. Step-level filtering based on marginal contribution identifies which individual reasoning steps drive or undermine reasoning trajectory quality. Quality-weighted reasoning trajectory context feeds these evaluations back into the model at inference time. Experiments across CareQA, PubMedQA, and CECMed demonstrate that reasoning trajectory context consistently improves reasoning coherence. For the severity assessment on the CECMed, quality-weighted reasoning trajectory context nearly doubles the correctness over the zero-shot baseline while cutting the hallucination ratio by 87%. Experiments show that 15.3% of reasoning steps carry most of the quality signal, and that extending chains beyond four steps yields diminishing returns.

CompliantBot: Learning Whole-Body Compliance across Task Interfaces for Humanoid Control

Haoyang Li, Keqi Zhu, Zhanxiang Cao, Yang Zhang, Yizhi Chen, Xuekang Yang, Yue Gao

原文摘要

Humanoid controllers need the ability to yield to external forces while retaining the capacity to resume their original tasks. However, tracking objectives penalize the deviations needed for yielding, while relaxing tracking goals persistently can make task recovery harder. Existing approaches often rely on task-specific interaction command interfaces or constructed compliant motion data and reference trajectories, limiting the direct reuse of their compliance-training mechanisms across different task interfaces. We introduce CompliantBot, a compliance-training framework for motion tracking and velocity-command locomotion. It preserves the original task inputs and requires no preconstructed compliant data or target trajectories. A state-dependent interaction force field couples applied loads to the robot's motion, enabling local articulation and whole-body movement to change the forces experienced. A complementary force-magnitude reward encourages lower interaction loads, while task rewards are downweighted during loading and restored after release to coordinate yielding and task resumption. The trained policies use task inputs and proprioceptive history without explicit external-force measurements. Across both task interfaces, CompliantBot yields farther under constant pulls and experiences lower spring interaction loads than matched baselines, while resuming task tracking after force removal. CompliantBot achieves the highest task completion among the compared methods under stronger pulls. Power evaluations further show that CompliantBot has the lowest mean joint mechanical power among the compared methods. Real-robot demonstrations further illustrate compliant responses through arm motion, stepping, and body reorientation.

Safety-Critical LiDAR-Inertial Odometry with On-Manifold Deterministic Protection Level

Yueqi Zhu, Yan Pan, Chufan Rui, Jiasheng Luo, Bo Zhou

原文摘要

In safety-critical scenarios, the protection level of the autonomous navigation system is crucial for enabling mobile robots to perform safe tasks. However, existing studies on probabilistic navigation systems for robots usually perform offline accuracy evaluations using limited datasets and assume that the results can be applied to unknown real-world environments. As a result, current autonomous mobile robots often lack protection levels for online safety assessment. To fill this gap, we propose a safety-critical LiDAR-inertial odometry (LIO) that provides deterministic protection levels based on a novel on-manifold set-membership filter. By adopting the unknown but bounded assumption, we derive a neat closed-form relationship between point cloud noise and the uncertainty of the estimation from the iterative closest point algorithm. Using this relationship, we design an on-manifold ellipsoidal set-membership filter (OM-ESMF) and implement it within the LIO system. Leveraging the properties of the set-membership filter, our system offers the feasible sets of the estimated locations as the deterministic protection levels, serving as safety references for the robots' downstream autonomous operations. The experimental results show that our system can provide effective deterministic online safety references for diverse robots in various environments.

On Proximity Gaps for One-Point Algebraic Geometric Codes

Songsong Li, Chaoping Xing, Chen Yuan, Ruiqi Zhu

原文摘要

Proximity gaps and correlated agreement underpin the soundness of interactive oracle proofs. We establish these properties for general one-point algebraic geometry (AG) codes, extending corresponding results for Reed-Solomon codes. For codes of length $n$ over $\mathbb F_q$ with designed distance $n-m$, write $ρ=m/n$ and fix $ρ\in(0,1)$. For polynomial curves of degree at most $\ell$ and any $0<\varepsilon<1$, we prove correlated agreement with multiplicative slack $\varepsilon$ and soundness $O(\ell(\ell+1)/(\varepsilon q))$ whenever $e\le(1-\varepsilon)(n-m)/2$, with no additional genus penalty. This gives asymptotically good AG code families from Garcia--Stichtenoth tower of unbounded length over a fixed field with soundness bounds independent of $n$, beyond the RS restriction $n\le q$. We also establish mutual correlated agreement up to radius $(1-\sqrtρ-η)n$, with soundness $O(\ell n/(η^3q))$ for $0<η<1-\sqrtρ$. Our half designed distance proof combines auxiliary divisors, simultaneous Berlekamp-Welch interpolation, and error-incidence counting to obtain a common polynomial representation without a Polishchuk-Spielman divisibility lemma. Finally, two counterexamples on the Garcia-Stichtenoth tower show limitations beyond half the minimum distance, at radii below the Johnson bound and with positive slack. The first requires a positive constant soundness lower bound independent of $q$ and $n$, precluding a uniform $O(1/q)$ guarantee throughout the Johnson regime. The second fixes the field and lets the relative gap above half distance tend to zero while ruling out correlated agreement for every soundness parameter $σ<1$, with positive limiting rate and relative error radius.

原文摘要

Autonomous scientific agents must not only reason about experiments but also interact with the physical environments in which they are executed. Existing laboratory simulators typically rely on manually constructed assets and predefined procedures, while laboratory videos capture real equipment, layouts, and interactions but leave this information implicit in pixels. We introduce LabWorld, an agent-driven Real2Sim framework for reconstructing interactive 4D laboratory worlds from monocular RGB video. LabWorld recovers reusable 3D assets, a metric scene, time-varying object states, and procedure events. Multi-frame observations provide complementary evidence for asset and scene reconstruction, while motion reconstruction combines visual and geometric observations with event constraints encoding the spatial and temporal requirements of laboratory interactions. We evaluate LabWorld on real pipetting and vortexing videos collected in our laboratory against general-purpose agentic and dedicated reconstruction baselines. For pipetting, LabWorld achieves a mean Mask IoU of 0.501, exceeding the strongest baseline by 0.033. For vortexing, it achieves a mean Tube-Length-Normalized PCK-AUC of 0.638, exceeding the strongest baseline by 0.035. On five pipetting videos, event-conditioned reconstruction increases the fraction of modeled physical constraints satisfied from 14.3% (5/35) to 100% (35/35). The resulting worlds expose geometry, motion, articulation, and events as explicit, editable state for replay, inspection, and future embodied scientific systems.

JevVLA: Jev-Inspired Energy-Based Adaptation for Vision-Language-Action Policies

Wei Wang, Wenqiao Zhang, Zheqi Lv, Zheng Dong, Yingjie Niu, Jiaqi Zhu, Jun Xiao, Chao Li 等 9 位作者

原文摘要

Vision-language-action (VLA) policies can select among discrete candidates for pick-and-place manipulation or generate continuous action chunks for motion control. Improving both forms of decision making through a common mechanism while retaining the capabilities of a pretrained policy is an important adaptation problem. Inspired by Jev's structured, probabilistic decision interface, we propose JevVLA, a lightweight energy-based adaptation framework for VLA policies. JevVLA instantiates this inspiration by modeling the relative quality of action proposals: with the base policy frozen, it learns a differentiable scalar energy conditioned on observations, task context, and actions, using execution feedback, expert corrections, or demonstration-derived preferences. JevVLA uses this single learned action preference function in two ways: its values compare discrete candidates, while its action gradients correct continuous actions or guide their generation. Candidate selection and continuous control thus share one trainable decision core. Each benchmark uses independently trained weights and fixed input/output encodings, while retaining the same core network with approximately 80,000 trainable parameters. On the held-out test sets, JevVLA improves task success over the respective matched base-policy controls by 1.28, 2.31, 1.60, 1.52, and 1.28 percentage points on MetaWorld MT50, VIMA, LanguageTable, LIBERO Plus, and CLIPort, respectively. These results support the feasibility of a lightweight, Jev-inspired energy model for adapting both discrete action selection and continuous action guidance. The JevVLA implementation will be open-sourced at https://github.com/ZJU4EmbodiedAI/JevVLA.

MCF: A Memory- and Communication-Aware Co-Designed Framework for Long-Context LLM Inference

Huaizhi Zhang, Jiacheng Zhu, Xuqi Zhu, Junkyu Lee, Klaus McDonald-Maier, Xiaojun Zhai

原文摘要

This paper presents Memory- and Communication-Aware Framework for Long-Context LLM Inference (MCF) that optimizes long-context inference through communication-aware and stage-adaptive KV-cache layout transitions. At the core of MCF is {Memory-Aware Replication and Scheduling} (MARS), a dynamic orchestration mechanism for chunked prefill. MARS exploits early-stage memory headroom by selectively replicating highly reused KV blocks, improving locality and hiding KV propagation latency behind attention computation. As prefill progresses and memory pressure increases, MARS progressively drains redundant replicas and converges the KV cache into a sharded decode-ready layout, avoiding expensive layout conversion at the prefill--decode boundary. For decoding, MCF adopts a query-centric execution model in which KV shards remain stationary while lightweight query tensors are routed across workers. This changes communication from KV-cache-dependent transfer to query-dependent transfer, reducing communication growth with context length. MCF further integrates a hardware-software co-designed execution layer based on an FPGA compute-NIC datapath, enabling metadata-driven KV routing and collective operations directly in the network path. Experiments show that MCF improves TTFT, throughput, and scalability over state-of-the-art distributed inference systems, with larger benefits as context length and cluster size increase.

Better Literary Translation: A Multi-Aspect Data Generation and LLM Training Approach

Zhihao Lin, Ziqi Zhu, Hao Huang, Guanghui Wang, Peiyang He

原文摘要

Literary translation poses unique challenges due to the scarcity of high-quality annotated data and the need to balance expression fluency with literary effect. We present a multi-aspect iterative refinement framework that generates high-quality translation references and preference data through specialized LLM translators, each targeting a distinct quality dimension. We leverage the generated data for supervised fine-tuning and reinforcement learning. Experiments show that our generated references outperform the original ground truth for SFT by 8.65 CEA100 points. For reinforcement learning, we find that DPO leads to performance degradation in this setting, while leveraging an explicit reward model for GRPO yields an additional 1.51 point improvement. We attribute this to the stability of two-stage training and GRPO’s online exploration capability. Our resulting models, LitMT-8B and LitMT-14B, achieve 67.25 and 69.07 CEA100 respectively on the MetaphorTrans English-to-Chinese literary translation benchmark, competitive with Claude Sonnet 4.5 at 68.43, and demonstrate strong generalization to out-of-domain literary work (i.e., O. Henry).

Learning to Think on Hypergraph: HyperCoT for Structure-Guided N-ary Knowledge Graph Completion

Mengxue Yang, Jinming Li, Chun Yang, Jiaqi Zhu Institute of Software, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Jiafan Li, Guanhua Zhang Institute of Software Chinese Academy of Sciences, Ying Li University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences

原文摘要

N-ary knowledge graph completion (KGC) aims to infer missing components in facts with multiple entities under distinct semantic roles, commonly formulated as a knowledge hypergraph link prediction task. Most embedding-based approaches score individual hyperedges relying on enriched structural representations, but overlook intermediate propagation states containing complementary local and global structural evidence. Despite their capability to generate chain-of-thought (CoT) representations for the classical KGC task, large language models (LLMs) struggle with hypergraph structure involving multiple facts, while current hypergraph QA methods only provide LLMs with a single query signal rather than path-level evidence. These limitations hinder the transferability of existing methods, especially those leveraging LLMs, to solve the knowledge hypergraph link prediction problem. To bridge this gap, we propose HyperCoT, a structure-aware approach that models multi-hop structural reasoning as a depth-sensitive progressive evidence accumulation process. It constructs a Graphical Chain-of-Thought (Graph-CoT) by aggregating role-aware hyperedge states along strongly correlated reasoning paths, and injects the resulting path-level structural evidence into each token in query and candidate entities to prompt LLMs. Experiments on three real-world datasets demonstrate that HyperCoT consistently outperforms strong n-ary KGC baselines, particularly in high arity and structural sparsity scenarios, meanwhile yielding interpretable multi-hop reasoning traces.

原文摘要

Large language models are increasingly deployed in multi-agent systems to overcome context limitations by distributing information across agents. However, whether LLM-based agents can reliably coordinate when each observes only a fragment of the global problem remains unclear. Existing benchmarks often prescribe agent roles or interaction patterns, conflating coordination ability with role-based priors. We introduce SILO-BENCH, a role-free benchmark for evaluating free-form collaboration under information silos. The benchmark comprises 30 algorithmic tasks with exact ground-truth answers, organized into 3 complexity levels based on optimal communication complexity: aggregation, mesh, and global shuffle. To systematically probe coordination capabilities, we instantiate 54 configurations by varying 3 communication protocols, 6 agent scales and 3 frontier LLMs, conducting 1,620 experiments. We evaluate agent behavior along three dimensions: Success Rate, Token Consumption, and Communication Density. Our experiments reveal a fundamental Communication-Reasoning Gap: agents communicate actively, yet fail to translate interaction into effective distributed computation. Performance collapses as complexity increases, with Level-III tasks achieving zero success beyond 50 agents. These findings demonstrate that current LLMs cannot escape information silos through coordination alone. SILO-BENCH provides a foundation for tracking progress toward genuinely collaborative multi-agent systems. The code is available at https://github.com/jwyjohn/acl26-silo-bench.

Rethinking Expert Trajectory Utilization in LLM Post-training for Mathematical Reasoning

原文摘要

Supervised Fine-Tuning (SFT) and Reinforcement Learning (RL) dominate the post-training landscape for mathematical reasoning, yet differ fundamentally in their reliance on expert trajectories. To understand the optimal way to harness these trajectories for maximizing performance, we propose the Plasticity-Ceiling Framework. This framework empirically grounds the post-training landscape by decomposing the final performance ceiling into the foundational SFT performance and the subsequent RL plasticity (i.e., the maximum improvement via RL). Through extensive benchmarking, we establish the Sequential SFT-then-RL pipeline as the superior standard, overcoming the stability and premature convergence deficits inherent in synchronized approaches. Furthermore, we derive precise scaling guidelines: (1) Transitioning to RL at the Stable or Mild Overfitting Regime of SFT maximizes the final ceiling by securing a robust SFT foundation with substantial RL plasticity; (2) Refuting the “Less is More” hypothesis in SFT-then-RL scaling, we demonstrate that Data Scale determines the primary post-training potential, while Trajectory Difficulty acts as a performance multiplier; and (3) The Minimum Validation Loss of SFT serves as a reliable indicator for selecting the expert trajectories that maximize the ultimate performance ceiling. Our findings provide actionable guidelines for extracting maximum value from expert trajectories.

SQL-Trail: Multi-Turn Reinforcement Learning with Interleaved Feedback for Text-to-SQL

原文摘要

While large language models (LLMs) have substantially improved Text-to-SQL generation, a pronounced gap remains between AI systems and human experts on challenging benchmarks such as BIRD-SQL. We argue this gap stems largely from the prevailing single-pass paradigm, which lacks the iterative reasoning, schema exploration, and error-correction behaviors that humans naturally employ. To address this limitation, we introduce SQL-Trail, a multi-turn reinforcement learning (RL) agentic framework for Text-to-SQL. Rather than producing a query in one shot, SQL-Trail interacts with the database environment and uses execution feedback to iteratively refine its predictions. Our approach centers on two key ideas: (i) an adaptive turn-budget allocation mechanism that scales the agent’s interaction depth to match question difficulty, and (ii) a composite reward panel that jointly incentivizes SQL correctness and efficient exploration. Across benchmarks, SQL-Trail sets a new state of the art and delivers strong data efficiency—up to 18× higher than prior single-pass RL state-of-the-art methods. Notably, our 7B and 14B models outperform substantially larger proprietary systems by 5% on average, underscoring the effectiveness of interactive, agentic workflows for robust Text-to-SQL generation.

原文摘要

Masked diffusion language models present a promising paradigm for language modeling, yet the systematic theoretical analysis and comprehensive empirical validation of their alignment on general tasks remain relatively underexplored. In this paper, we identify the primary challenge for this problem: the high variance in Evidence Lower Bound (ELBO)-based likelihood estimates required for preference optimization. To address this issue, we propose Variance-Reduced Preference Optimization (VRPO), a framework that formally analyzes the bias and variance of the preference optimization loss and gradient based on Direct Preference Optimization, showing both are governed by a score-estimator variance. Building on this foundation, we introduce multiple unbiased variance reduction strategies, including optimal budget allocation and antithetic sampling, to improve alignment performance. We demonstrate the effectiveness of VRPO by applying it to LLaDA, a large diffusion language model. The resulting model, LLaDA 1.5, consistently outperforms its SFT-only predecessor consistently across various general benchmarks, such as mathematics (GSM8K +4.7), coding (HumanEval +3.0, MBPP +1.8), and alignment (IFEval +4.0, Arena-Hard +4.3). Furthermore, LLaDA 1.5 demonstrates a highly competitive mathematical performance compared to other strong language MDMs and ARMs. Our model is available at https://huggingface.co/GSAI-ML/LLaDA-1.5.

原文摘要

While large language models (LLMs) perform well on table tasks, they still make data referencing errors (DREs), i.e., incorrectly citing or omitting table values, despite understanding the table structure. Beyond final-answer accuracy, DREs directly compromise the correctness and reliability of intermediate reasoning steps. Yet prior studies have only offered limited, small-scale analyses. In this work, we present the first systematic evaluation of tabular data referencing errors across different models and tasks. Our results show that DREs occur across all tested models (1.7B to 20B parameters). Furthermore, we demonstrate that incorporating data referencing as a critic significantly improves answer accuracy up to 12.0%, through critic-based filtering and rejection sampling. Finally, we trained a lightweight 4B-parameter critic model that achieves an average F1 score of 78.2% in detecting both in-distribution and out-of-distribution DREs, and effectively assists inference for larger models.

原文摘要

Large Reasoning Models (LRMs) have achieved remarkable success on reasoning-intensive tasks such as mathematics and programming. However, their enhanced reasoning capabilities do not necessarily translate to improved safety performance—and in some cases, may even degrade it. This raises an important research question: how should we enhance the safety of LRMs? In this paper, we present a comprehensive empirical study on how to enhance the safety of LRMs through Supervised Fine-Tuning (SFT). Our investigation begins with an unexpected observation: directly distilling safe responses from DeepSeek-R1 fails to significantly enhance safety. We analyze this phenomenon and identify five key risky patterns that contribute to it. We then demonstrate that explicitly addressing these issues during the data distillation process can lead to substantial safety improvements. Next, we explore whether a long and complex reasoning process is necessary for achieving safety. Interestingly, we find that simply using short or template-based reasoning process can attain comparable safety performance. These findings prompt a deeper reflection on the role of reasoning in ensuring safety. Finally, we conduct a comprehensive ablation study to reveal the impact of different training configurations. Overall, we hope our empirical study could provide a more holistic picture on enhancing the safety of LRMs.

原文摘要

Long-term conversational agents need memory systems that capture relationships between events, not merely isolated facts, to support temporal reasoning and multi-hop question answering. Current approaches face a fundamental trade-off: flat memory is efficient but fails to model relational structure, while graph-based memory enables structured reasoning at the cost of expensive and fragile construction. To address these issues, we propose StructMem, a structure-enriched hierarchical memory framework that preserves event-level bindings and induces cross-event connections. By temporally anchoring dual perspectives and performing periodic semantic consolidation, StructMem improves temporal reasoning and multi-hop performance on LoCoMo, while substantially reducing token usage, API calls, and runtime compared to prior memory systems.

原文摘要

Replicating AI research is a crucial yet challenging task for large language model (LLM) agents. Existing approaches often struggle to generate executable code, primarily due to insufficient background knowledge and the limitations of retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) methods, which fail to capture latent technical details hidden in referenced papers. Furthermore, previous approaches tend to overlook valuable implementation-level code signals and lack structured knowledge representations that support multi-granular retrieval and reuse. To overcome these challenges, we propose Executable Knowledge Graphs (xKG), a pluggable, paper-centric knowledge base that automatically integrates code snippets and technical insights extracted from scientific literature. When integrated into three agent frameworks with two different LLMs, xKG shows substantial performance gains (10.9% with o3-mini) on PaperBench, demonstrating its effectiveness as a general and extensible solution for automated AI research replication.
