Where, What, Why, and Importance: Structured Defect Grounding for Text-to-Image Feedback

原文摘要

Despite generating increasingly photorealistic images, text-to-image (T2I) models still exhibit localized, subtle, and structurally complex failures. Diagnosing these failures requires instance-level feedback that answers where a defect occurs, what type it is, why it is defective, and its importance to overall image quality. While recent dense-feedback methods move beyond scalar supervision, their heatmap-centric representations still formulate diagnosis as pixel-field regression, making it difficult to localize variable-cardinality defects and bind semantic reasons to individual failures. To address this representation bottleneck, we propose Structured Defect Grounding (SDG), which casts T2I diagnosis as structured set prediction by modeling each defect as a (location, type, reason, importance) tuple. To make this formulation trainable and measurable, we introduce SDG-30K, a 30K-image dataset with box-grounded annotations across four modern T2I generators, together with a dedicated evaluation protocol, SDG-Eval. Building on this structured representation, we further present a diagnosis-to-alignment framework in which a Vision-Language Model (VLM) serves as the SDG detector, and BoxFlow-GRPO converts predicted defect sets into box-derived, importance-weighted spatial rewards for diffusion model alignment. Extensive experiments show that our SDG detector outperforms leading proprietary VLMs on structured defect grounding, while SDG-guided rewards consistently improve T2I alignment and support localized image refinement. These results establish SDG as a unified, instance-level interface for diagnosing, evaluating, and enhancing modern generative models.

AI agents are playing an increasingly important role in physics research. However, existing physics benchmarks only evaluate fixed questions, isolated sub-tasks, or paper reproduction with given solutions, and rarely check research quality alongside correctness. We introduce FrontierPhysics, an end-to-end benchmark with 56 tasks made by 42 physicists based on their own research, covering nine domains across theoretical, computational, and experimental physics. Each task requires agents to review the literature, develop a research plan, conduct research and experiments, and produce structured outputs and scientific manuscripts. Combining deterministic verifiers with expert-authored rubrics, FrontierPhysics evaluates whether agents' research is correct and publishable. Across 22 models in 26 configurations, no configuration passes more than 46 of its 168 rollouts. Manual review of agent trajectories shows that frontier agents' main weaknesses are insufficiently rigorous reasoning and limited expert intuition, rather than gaps in physics knowledge or execution errors.

We introduce LongBanana, to our knowledge the first expert-designed and expert-verified benchmark for long-context multi-reference image synthesis in the age of agent-driven image generation. The task requires retrieving dispersed visual evidence, rejecting distractors, binding entities and relations, and composing one coherent final image from multiple references. LongBanana contains 90 carefully designed tasks organized by a 3-by-3 taxonomy; each task includes about 32 reference images, 20 constraints, and 50 evaluation items, yielding 4,670 expert-specified atomic evaluation items in total. Its graph-grounded evaluation design instantiates each task with reference images and an entity-relation graph, then converts node, edge, and whole-graph obligations into checklist items for Content Fidelity, Relational Binding, and Global Constraint Satisfaction. Reviewed expert labels include a 15% double-labeled subset with 89.4% exact agreement and 0.83 quadratic weighted kappa. We further introduce LongBanana-Gen, an agent-harness framework for long-horizon image generation; experiments show that minimal agent harnesses improve over direct generation, while a ReAct-Plan-Exec-Reflect (RPR) workflow yields harness-dependent gains by strengthening evidence grounding and repair. Together, LongBanana provides an auditable testbed for measuring dense visual evidence use and a shared target for developing stronger agent-driven image-generation systems. SVGFaith: A Two-Layer Meta-Evaluation of Faithfulness Metrics for Text-to-SVG Generation

原文摘要

Text-to-SVG systems are commonly evaluated by applying raster-image metrics to rasterised outputs, yet whether these scores capture fine-grained prompt faithfulness remains unclear. We introduce SVGFaith, a two-layer meta-evaluation framework in which the more faithful candidate of each pair is determined by construction or by human judgment. SVGFaith-Diagnostic contains 1,842 controlled contrastive pairs across eight capability axes, split evenly between two directions: two renderings compared against one prompt, and two descriptions compared against one rendering. SVGFaith-Arena contains 1,327 human-annotated comparisons of real generator outputs. On SVGFaith-Diagnostic, CLIP and three other image--text embedding metrics reach at least 0.789 pairwise accuracy on object identity but at most 0.672 on spatial relations and attribute binding, where chance is 0.5. We further introduce SVGFaith-Score, an interpretable pointwise metric. A domain-tuned decomposer turns each prompt into a dependency graph of atomic visual requirements, a visual question answering model scores whether each requirement is satisfied, and a requirement's score is discounted when its prerequisites score low. In addition to the overall score, the per-requirement scores show which requirements are judged unsatisfied and which inherit discounts from their prerequisites. SVGFaith-Score significantly outperforms all nine baselines, including a Qwen3.5-122B-A10B judge, on Arena and in both Diagnostic directions. Code and data: https://github.com/Yukinonooo/SVGFaith.

Calibrating Attention-Based Token Pruning for Efficient Multi-Image Synthesis in UMMs

Zimeng Wu, Qijian Tian, Penghui Du, Changqian Yu, Jiaxin Chen, Yunhong Wang

原文摘要

Unified Multimodal Models (UMMs) enable powerful multi-image synthesis but incur substantial computation from long visual contexts. While token pruning offers a direct route to accelerating inference, existing methods are primarily adapted from understanding tasks, suffering from insufficient reference image exploration, confused conditional guidance, and pooling-induced ambiguity that degrades generation quality. To address these issues, we propose CATP, the first training-free context-compression method tailored to UMM generation, which \textbf{C}alibrates the discrepancies of general \textbf{A}ttention-based \textbf{T}oken \textbf{P}runing for better quality-efficiency trade-off. Concretely, building on independent layer-wise pruning during denoising, we introduce Guidance-Consistent Pruning (GCP) to synchronize pruning decisions across conditioning branches, and a Taylor-Calibrated Attention Metric (TCAM) that derives a theoretically grounded second-order correction for pooling-induced bias. In addition, a Fast Scoring Operator (FSO) fuses the calibration into tiled online Softmax to reduce pruning cost. Extensive experiments across representative UMMs and benchmarks demonstrate that CATP consistently outperforms state-of-the-art token-reduction methods, achieving up to 2.09$\times$ attention-core speedup.

PILOT: Planning via Internalized Latent Optimization Trajectories for Large Language Models

Haoyu Zheng, Yun Zhu Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, Yuqian Yuan Qwen Team and Zhejiang University, Bo Yuan, Wenqiao Zhang Zhejiang University, Siliang Tang Zhejiang University, Jun Xiao Zhejiang University

原文摘要

Strategic planning is critical for multi-step reasoning, yet compact Language Language Models (LLMs) often lack the capacity to formulate global strategies, leading to error propagation in long-horizon tasks. Our analysis reveals that LLMs possess latent reasoning capabilities that can be unlocked when conditioned on explicit plans from a teacher model; however, runtime reliance on external guidance is often impractical due to latency and availability constraints. To bridge this gap, we propose PILOT (Planning via Internalized Latent Optimization Trajectories), a non-invasive framework designed to internalize the strategic oversight of large models into intrinsic Latent Guidance. Instead of altering backbone weights, PILOT employs a lightweight Hyper-Network to synthesize a query-conditioned Latent Guidance. This vector acts as an internal steering mechanism, guiding the model’s representations toward optimal reasoning paths. Extensive experiments on mathematical and coding benchmarks demonstrate that PILOT effectively stabilizes reasoning trajectories, consistently outperforming strong baselines (e.g., +8.9% on MATH500) with negligible inference latency.
