AI 速览:提出神经分诊解码框架,用综合征一致性自适应分配神经计算,在高码率qLDPC码上兼顾近最优精度与大幅降低的解码延迟。

Quantum error correction is essential for fault-tolerant quantum computing. High-rate quantum low-density parity-check (qLDPC) codes have emerged as a promising approach to reducing the substantial physical qubit overhead of quantum error correction, enabling encoding rates exceeding $1/2$ in blocks of approximately one thousand physical data qubits. However, their practical implementation requires decoders that combine high accuracy with low latency to keep pace with quantum hardware. Existing decoders of high-rate qLDPC codes can achieve high accuracy but often incur substantial computational latency, whereas neural network decoders have yet to be demonstrated for high-rate qLDPC codes. Here, we introduce \emph{neural triage decoding}, a framework that uses syndrome consistency to adaptively allocate neural computation. A local neural message-passing network rapidly predicts error corrections, additional iterations reduce residual syndrome violations, and a rarely invoked diversification stage searches for consistent corrections to the remaining shots. We demonstrate that the \texttt{Triage} decoder can decode ultra-high-rate qLDPC codes encoding a few hundred logical qubits, including lifted-product and Kasai codes, achieving state-of-the-art accuracy comparable to the near optimal algorithmic decoders while reducing decoding latency by approximately one to two orders of magnitude. Our framework is inspired by a rigorous analysis of the exact bitwise marginal decoder, revealing a distance-independent syndrome-inconsistent error floor. In addition, we show the robustness of neural network decoders to mismatched error priors. Our results establish adaptive neural decoding as a promising route towards fast, accurate, and scalable quantum error correction in the near term.

CHI-Bench: Can AI Agents Automate End-to-End, Long-Horizon, Policy-Rich Healthcare Workflows?

Haolin Chen, Deon Metelski, Leon Qi, Tao Xia, Joonyul Lee, Steve Brown, Kevin Riley, Frank Wang 等 33 位作者

End-to-end automation of realistic healthcare operations stresses three capabilities underrepresented in current benchmarks: policy density, decisions must be grounded in a large library of medical, insurance, and operational rules; Multi-role composition: a single task requires the agent to play multiple roles with handoffs; and multilateral interaction: intermediate workflow steps are multi-turn dialogs, such as peer-to-peer review and patient outreach. We introduce $χ$-Bench, a benchmark of long-horizon healthcare workflows across three domains: provider prior authorization, payer utilization management, and care management. Each task hands the agent a clinical case in a high-fidelity simulator of 20 healthcare apps exposed via 87 MCP tools, which it must drive to a terminal status through tool calls and writing the role's artifacts, guided by a 1,290+ document managed-care operations handbook skill. Across 30 agent harness/models configurations, the best agent resolves only 28.0% of tasks, no agent clears 20% on strict pass^3, and executing all tasks in a single session slumps the performance to 3.8%. These results raise the hypothesis that similar gaps are likely to surface in other policy-dense, role-composed, irreversible enterprise domains.

Compute Has Shape: Self-Morphing the Internal Computation of Frozen LLMs

Junxi Wu, Yiwen Guo, Shu-Tao Xia

Test-time scaling improves large language models through additional computation, but how to adapt the topology of internal computation to individual inputs remains underexplored. Existing approaches largely fix recurrent or parallel architectures during training, or reconfigure frozen models along a single structural axis. We introduce SelfMorph, which makes computational shape an input-dependent inference-time decision. It unifies the original forward path (BASE), serial reuse of a layer span (REPEAT), and local branching and merging of perturbed hidden states (BRANCH) in a unified space parameterized by type, location, and intensity. Since they offer complementary benefits rather than uniform dominance, we use a lightweight selector that reads the backbone's depth-wise hidden state trajectory on the prompt to choose a morphology before response generation. We train the selector by distilling utility-based distribution from offline morphing that jointly account for task performance and computational cost. Evaluated on three LLMs spanning 4B-27B, SelfMorph achieves a 8.06% mean relative improvement on five in-distribution benchmarks and 4.45% on four unseen benchmarks. It achieves the strongest performance in 24 of 27 settings. These findings identify input-adaptive computational topology as a complementary axis of test-time scaling beyond generating more tokens. Our code is available at https://github.com/creator-xi/SelfMorph.

The Minimum Subpacketization of Reed-Solomon Codes with Linear Repair Achieving the Cut-Set Bound

Weijun Fang, Jing Qiu, Shu-Tao Xia, Fang-Wei Fu

In this paper, we study the minimum subpacketization of $(n,k)$ Reed-Solomon (RS) codes over $\mathbb{F}_{q^\ell}$ admitting cut-set-optimal exact $\mathbb{F}_q$-linear repair of every coordinate from any $d$ helpers. For $3\le k<d\le n-1$, write $s=d+1-k$ and denote this minimum by $\ell_{min}(n,k,d;q)$. Using divisibility and relative-degree constraints on cross-ratio fields of evaluation sets, we establish $\ell_{min}(n,k,d;q)\ge sG_s(d+1)$, where $G_s(m)$ is the minimum product of $m$ pairwise coprime integers, each at least $s$. Let $Δ_s(n,d)$ be the minimum of $lcm(a_1,\ldots,a_n)$ over positive integers $a_1,\ldots,a_n$ satisfying $lcm(a_j:j\in J\cup\{i\})\ge s~lcm(a_j:j\in J)$ for every $d$-subset $J\subseteq[n]$ and every $i\in[n]\setminus J$. We construct RS codes with subpacketization $sΔ_s(n,d)$ and further prove that $\ell_{min}(n,k,d;q)=sΔ_s(n,d)=sG_s(n)$ whenever $d(d+2)\geq 4(n+1)$, for every prime power $q$. In particular, this determines the minimum subpacketization in the full-helper case $d=n-1$, resolving the corresponding exact linear-repair case of Open Problem 20 posed by Ramkumar et al. in their survey on codes for distributed storage. We further give a finite formula for $G_s(n)$ and determine the exact threshold for its closed-form expression in terms of the first $n$ primes. For fixed $k$ and $d$, we prove $\log\ell_{min}(n,k,d;q)= Θ_{k,d}(\log n\log\log n)$ as $n\to\infty$, using divisor-function estimates and cover-free families. An affine-plane construction shows that $Δ_s(n,d)<G_s(n)$ for some parameters, so $sG_s(n)$ is not a universal formula. We conjecture that $\ell_{min}(n,k,d;q)=sΔ_s(n,d)$ for every prime power $q$ and all $3\le k<d\le n-1$.

TS-DP: Reinforcement Speculative Decoding For Temporal Adaptive Diffusion Policy Acceleration

Ye Li, Jiahe Feng, Yuan Meng, Kangye Ji, Chen Tang, Jiajun Fan, Xinwan Wen, Jiawei Li 等 12 位作者

Diffusion Policy (DP) excels in embodied control but suffers from high inference latency and computational cost due to multiple iterative denoising steps. Existing diffusion model (DMs) acceleration methods improve inference speed by reducing computational overhead, as DMs for image generation are computation-bound. In this work, we reveal that DP are I/O bound, and thus propose using speculative decoding, a parallel computing framework, to accelerate DP for the first time. However, it is non-trivial to address the following challenges: (1) How to preserve the denoising quality of the base model at reduced computational cost under time-varying task difficulty in embodied settings; and (2) How to dynamically allocate computation according to task difficulty in such environments. Therefore, we propose Temporal-aware Reinforcement-based Speculative Diffusion Policy (TS-DP), the first framework that enables speculative decoding for DP with temporal adaptivity. First, to handle dynamic environments where task difficulty varies over time, we distill a Transformer-based drafter to imitate the base model and replace its costly denoising calls. Second, an RL-based scheduler further adapts to the time-varying task difficulty by adjusting speculative parameters to maintain accuracy while improving efficiency. Extensive experiments show that TS-DP achieves up to a 4.17x NFE reduction and a 3.2x wall-clock speedup with a draft acceptance rate of over 85% in simulation. Real-world experiments further demonstrate a 3.8x NFE reduction while improving success rates on real-time tasks (e.g., a 23% gain on the conveyor-belt task), reaching an inference frequency of 26 Hz and enabling real-time control while maintaining comparable task performance. The code is available at https://github.com/ChildTang/TS-DP.

EvoRouter: Cost-Efficient Multi-Agent Routing via Insight-Guided On-Policy Distillation

Yitao Xiao, Xu Zhang, Ye Cheng, Shaoyong Guo, Yan Sun, Ziyue Zhu, Sitao Xie, Guo Tong 等 9 位作者

Serving web queries at scale with multi-agent systems requires jointly configuring large language models, collaboration modes, agent counts, interaction rounds, and skills. However, the resulting configuration space grows combinatorially, while sparse execution rewards provide limited fine-grained supervision for interdependent planning decisions. We propose EvoRouter, a self-evolving multi-agent routing framework driven by insight-guided on-policy distillation. A dedicated expert periodically synthesizes performance-cost feedback from configuration trajectories across tasks into reusable conditional routing insights about capability requirements, returns from resource scaling, and interactions among configuration choices. A privileged teacher combines these evolving insights with current execution feedback to provide dense token-level supervision for the router's own planning trajectories through on-policy distillation. Cost-aware reinforcement learning jointly optimizes task performance and computational cost. Together, these training signals internalize execution insights into the routing policy. The updated policy generates new trajectories that support subsequent insight extraction, forming an execution-driven self-improvement loop. We evaluate EvoRouter on 19 in-domain datasets spanning five domains and two out-of-domain benchmarks. EvoRouter achieves an average in-domain accuracy of 68.69%, outperforming the strongest routing baseline by 7.23 percentage points while reducing inference compute cost by 50.95%. Our code is open-sourced at https://github.com/CenYangtze/EvoRouter.

GUIFlow: Temporal Redundancy-Aware Incremental Inference for GUI Agents

Ye Li, Haoran Ding, Huanan Liu, Yuan Meng, Yutian Shen, Yuansong Wang, Kangye Ji, Hanyun Cui 等 13 位作者

GUI agents built on vision-language models interact with continuously evolving interfaces, yet conventional inference repeatedly recomputes representations of largely overlapping observations and histories. This mismatch makes multi-step interaction costly, while changes in context, interface content, and action arguments prevent straightforward cache reuse. We introduce GUIFlow, a framework for full-pipeline incremental inference in multi-image GUI interaction. Our central insight is that advancing a decision need not require rebuilding all supporting representations: each interaction step can instead selectively update computational states maintained across the trajectory. To support new decisions as the context evolves, GUIFlow adapts how past computation is reused: historical KV states are position-aligned and injected into the current context; change signals guide selective updates of current-observation states in the vision encoder and language model; and earlier action responses serve as speculative drafts verified by the target model. Together, these mechanisms enable cross-step reuse throughout visual encoding, prefill, and decoding without additional training, a separate draft model, or changes to the model-visible inputs and action interface. Experiments demonstrate up to 3.39x geometric-mean speedup across offline multi-image benchmarks and up to 3.49x in online, closed-loop interaction on OSWorld, while maintaining task performance broadly comparable to the dense baseline.

When Efficiency Meets Safety: A Benchmark Security Analysis of KV Cache Compression in Large Language Models

Xiaoxiao Ma, Kuofeng Gao Tsinghua University, Zeyi Lu, Wenxi Jiang, Hao Fang Beijing University of Post and Telecommunications and Tsinghua University, Hao Wu Tsinghua University, Tsinghua University, Bin Chen Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen, Shu-Tao Xia Shenzhen International Graduate School, Tsinghua University

Key-Value (KV) caching is widely used in large language models (LLMs) to enable long-context inference efficiently, yet its security implications remain underexplored. We present the first systematic study of how KV cache compression interacts with jailbreak attacks, evaluating four model families under diverse jailbreak attacks. We identify a double-edged effect: (i) on one hand, compression can induce Accidental Robustness, where optimization-based and encoding-based attacks fail due to Malicious Semantic Eviction, where attacks’ own attention redirection reduces the malicious query’s cache importance, and Gradient Mismatch where discrete compression operations break jailbreak optimization. (ii) On the other hand, Vulnerability Paradox arises under merging-based compression for human-designed Attacks, where aggressive merging in shallow layers triggers functional head collapse, amplifying attack success rates. To address this, we propose Safe-CAM, a history-aware, per-head feedback merging strategy that prevents safety degradation while maintaining efficiency. Experiments show Safe-CAM fully restores safety (0% ASR) and improves benign task performance with minimal overhead. Our study highlights that KV cache compression is not only an efficiency mechanism but also a safety-critical design factor in LLM deployment.

Retrievals Can Be Detrimental: Unveiling the Backdoor Vulnerability of Retrieval-Augmented Diffusion Models

Hao Fang Beijing University of Post and Telecommunications and Tsinghua University, Xiaohang Sui Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen, Hongyao Yu, Kuofeng Gao Tsinghua University, Jiawei Kong Tsinghua University, Tsinghua University and Nanyang Technological University, Sijin Yu, Bin Chen Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen, Shu-Tao Xia Shenzhen International Graduate School, Tsinghua University

Diffusion models (DMs) have recently exhibited impressive generation capability. However, their training generally requires huge computational resources and large-scale datasets. To solve these, recent studies empower DMs with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), yielding retrieval-augmented diffusion models (RDMs) that enhance performance with reduced parameters. Despite the success, RAG may introduce novel security issues that warrant further investigation. In this paper, we propose BadRDM, the first poisoning framework targeting RDMs, to systematically investigate their vulnerability to backdoor attacks. Our framework fully considers RAG’s characteristics by manipulating the retrieved items for specific text triggers to ultimately control the generated outputs. Specifically, we first insert a tiny portion of images into the retrieval database as target toxicity surrogates. We then exploit the contrastive learning mechanism underlying retrieval models by designing a malicious variant that establishes robust shortcuts from triggers to toxicity surrogates. In addition, we introduce novel entropy-based selection and generative augmentation strategies for better toxicity surrogates. Extensive experiments on two mainstream tasks show that the proposed method achieves outstanding attack effects while preserving benign utility. Notably, BadRDM remains effective even under common defense strategies, further highlighting serious security concerns for RDMs.

Modern large language models (LLMs) driven by scaling laws achieve emergent intelligence in large model sizes. Recently, the increasing concerns about cloud costs, latency and privacy make it an urgent requirement to develop compact edge language models. Distinguished from direct pretraining that bounded by parameter scaling law, this work proposes the unified pruning-aware pretraining, focusing on pretraining compact models while preserving performance of much larger source models, termed EfficientLLM. It features following characteristics: 1) Pruning in Pretraining Corpus: we introduce minimal parameter groups to decouple LLMs and continuously optimize model architecture with classic pruning methods like LLM-Pruner and SparseGPT during pretraining. We reveal that it achieves top-quality compact language models to scale up LLM pruning to large scale pretraining. 2) Auto-Designed Architecture: the LLM architecture is auto-designed during saliency-driven pruning, unifying pretraining, architectural design, and parameter pruning into a single process. Based on these, EfficientLLM significantly outperforms directly pretrained baselines with 100M \sim 1B parameters, such as MobileLLM, SmolLM, Qwen2.5-0.5B, OLMo-1B, Llama3.2-1B in commen sense benchmarks, which bridges the performance gap between traditional LLM compression and direct pretraining. We open source on https://github.com/Xingrun-Xing2/EfficientLLM.

Reinforcing Agentic Search Via Reward Density Optimization

Kun Luo, Hongjin Qian, Zheng Liu, Ziyi Xia Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence, Shitao Xiao Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence, Zhao Cao Renmin University of China, Siqi Bao, Jun Zhao Institute of automation, Chinese academy of science 等 9 位作者

Reinforcement Learning with Verifiable Rewards (RLVR) is a promising approach for enhancing agentic search. However, its performance is often hindered by reward sparsity, whereby agents receive very limited positive feedback despite incurring significant exploration costs. In this paper, we formalize this challenge as a new research problem termed Reward Density Optimization, which aims to improve the reward obtained per unit of exploration cost. To address this problem, we introduce InfoFlow, a systematic framework that operates along three complementary dimensions: 1) Sub-goal Scaffolding: which decomposes long-horizon tasks into intermediate objectives and assigns process-level rewards to provide denser learning signals; 2) Pathfinding Hints: which injects corrective guidance into stalled trajectories to increase the ratio of successful trials; and 3) Dual-agent Refinement: which employs a dual-agent architecture to offload the cognitive burden of deep exploration. We evaluate InfoFlow on several popular agentic search benchmarks, where it significantly outperforms strong baselines and enables lightweight LLMs to achieve performance comparable to that of advanced proprietary models.

From Verbatim to Gist: Distilling Pyramidal Multimodal Memory via Semantic Information Bottleneck for Long-Horizon Video Agents

Niu Lian, Yuting Wang Aminer, Hanshu Yao, Jinpeng Wang Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen, Bin Chen Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen, Yaowei Wang Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen and Pengcheng Laboratory, Min Zhang Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen and Harbin Institute of Technology, Shu-Tao Xia Shenzhen International Graduate School, Tsinghua University

While multimodal large language models have demonstrated impressive short-term reasoning, they struggle with long-horizon video understanding due to limited context windows and static memory mechanisms that fail to mirror human cognitive efficiency. Existing paradigms typically fall into two extremes: vision-centric methods that incur high latency and redundancy through dense visual accumulation, or text-centric approaches that suffer from detail loss and hallucination via aggressive captioning. To bridge this gap, we propose MM-Mem, a pyramidal multimodal memory architecture grounded in Fuzzy-Trace Theory. MM-Mem structures memory hierarchically into a Sensory Buffer, Episodic Stream, and Symbolic Schema, enabling the progressive distillation of fine-grained perceptual traces (verbatim) into high-level semantic schemas (gist).Furthermore, to govern the dynamic construction of memory, we derive a Semantic Information Bottleneck objective and introduce SIB-GRPO to optimize the trade-off between memory compression and task-relevant information retention. In inference, we design an entropy-driven top-down memory retrieval strategy.Extensive experiments across 4 benchmarks confirm that MM-Mem achieves state-of-the-art performance on both offline and streaming tasks, demonstrating robust generalization and validating the effectiveness of cognition-inspired memory organization.Code and associated configurations are publicly available at ‘https://github.com/EliSpectre/MM-Mem‘.
