GROME: GROunding Factorized MEmory into Video World Models

Fang Yu, Xiaoxue Wu, Haiyu Zhang, Yangfu Li, Botong Zhao, Yu Qiao, Tianfan Xue, Yue Lu 等 9 位作者

Long-horizon consistency is essential for video world models, yet it becomes difficult to maintain once observed content falls outside the context window. Existing memory mechanisms either retrieve history as implicit context, which remains constrained by context capacity and entangles static and dynamic information or consolidate history into explicit global representations, which struggle to model evolving dynamics and accumulate geometric errors. To overcome these limitations, we introduce \textbf{GROME}, a novel factorized memory framework that augments video world models for long-horizon coherence across both static scenes and dynamic entities. GROME operates via three synergistic components: 1)~\emph{Static-Dynamic Factorization} decouples historical evidence into static and dynamic components, preserving static scene geometry and dynamic entity states separately; 2)~\emph{Local Memory Retrieval} selects spatially aligned static history to eliminate geometric drift alongside the latest dynamic entity states to ensure temporal continuity; 3)~\emph{Training-Free Memory Injection} seamlessly grounds the factorized memory into video world models via their native conditioning pathways. Experiments on long-horizon revisit scenarios demonstrate that GROME substantially enhances scene persistence and dynamic entity fidelity over existing methods, all while preserving the visual quality and controllability of the frozen backbone without additional training. Beyond self-rollouts, GROME readily accommodates external observations as plug-and-play memory, unlocking flexible and controllable video continuation and scene exploration.

Data Scaling Laws in Stereo Matching: From In-domain Fitting to Cross-domain Generalization

Tong Zhao, Di Liang, Yiming Zeng, Bo Xu, Yingzhi Tang, Chen Bai

In the era of large models, stereo matching is developing towards generalizable foundation models trained on million-scale synthetic images. However, how model performance scales up with synthetic data is still underexplored. In this work, we preliminarily investigate the in-domain and cross-domain data scaling laws in stereo matching. A realistic synthetic dataset, named XStereo, containing 200 thousand samples is first built to serve as a high-quality benchmark for data scaling research. In-domain training on five large-scale datasets demonstrate a two-regime scaling behavior with data, transitioning from the standard power law to saturation, where the critical transition point is approximately invariant under a fixed model. Cross-domain performance exhibits a substantially weaker and less predictable dependence on the source-domain data scale. The distribution and coverage diversity are more effective for diminishing domain gaps. More instructive suggestions are provided for high-efficiency data construction and training. The insightful findings are significant verification and extension of the existing scaling laws in both language and vision, paving the way to efficient and stronger stereo matching. The XStereo dataset is public at https://huggingface.co/datasets/Tong-Zhao/XStereo.

VidEdit3D: Flexible 3D Gaussian Editing with Video Diffusion

Yanming Yang, Chenxi Song, Tong Zhao, Juntao Xu, Wenhao Rao, Yiwen Chen, Yiwei Wang, Chi Zhang

Recent advancements in text-guided 3D editing, particularly with 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS), have shown promise but still lag behind the flexibility of 2D editing tools. Existing methods face a critical trade-off between preserving multi-view consistency and allowing structural modifications. Image-based editors can also struggle to apply the intended edit to objects viewed from unusual angles. To address these limitations, we introduce VidEdit3D, a framework that reformulates 3D scene editing as a trajectory-based video editing task. By drawing a parallel between camera movement in static 3D scenes and temporal dynamics in video, we leverage the robust spatiotemporal priors of pre-trained Video Diffusion Models (VDMs) to encourage semantic and structural coherence across views. Specifically, we propose Trajectory-Guided Rendering (TGR) to select informative keyframes and construct smooth video clips aligned with VDM input requirements. To propagate edits from an anchor view to these clips, we develop Flow-Aligned Video Editing (FAVE), a training-free framework incorporating an Editing Consistency Guidance (ECG) mechanism. ECG contrasts source and edited image conditions at a shared latent state, using scheduled source-image amplification to strengthen adherence to the edited reference while maintaining original scene context. Finally, we introduce Region-Selective 3DGS Refinement (RS-GS) to strictly confine geometric and appearance updates to target primitives, reducing background attribute leakage. Experiments demonstrate stronger instruction alignment and better multi-view consistency than the baselines.

Learning Faithful Reasoning Processes with Spatio-Temporal Latent Dynamics for Large Language Models

Weijiang Lv, Wentong Zhao, Jiayu Wang, Yuhao Wu, Jiaheng Wei, Xiaobo Xia

Chain-of-Thought (CoT) reasoning has significantly enhanced the reasoning capabilities of large language models (LLMs). However, existing reinforcement learning methods primarily optimize outcome-level rewards, providing limited supervision over the reasoning process. As a result, models may produce shortcut-prone or unstable reasoning trajectories even when the final answer is correct. We propose GeoFaith, a spatio-temporal latent dynamics framework for learning faithful reasoning processes without process reward models. GeoFaith combines final-state latent uncertainty, which measures whether a completed trajectory lies in a well-supported manifold region, with predictive-entropy dynamics, which penalize abnormal uncertainty patterns such as premature collapse, oscillation, and prolonged uncertainty. These signals are incorporated as process regularization into GRPO, jointly optimizing answer correctness and reasoning quality without step-level process annotations. Experiments show that GeoFaith consistently improves reasoning accuracy, produces more efficient reasoning trajectories, and outperforms both outcome-only reinforcement learning and process-supervision baselines.

ATIR: Towards Audio-Text Interleaved Contextual Retrieval

Tong Zhao, Chenghao Zhang Renmin University of China, Yutao Zhu, Zhicheng Dou Renmin University of China

Audio carries richer information than text, including emotion, speaker traits, and environmental context, while also enabling lower-latency processing compared to speech-to-text pipelines. However, recent multimodal information retrieval research has predominantly focused on images, largely overlooking audio, especially in the setting of interleaved audio-text contextual retrieval. In this work, we introduce the Audio-Text Interleaved contextual Retrieval (ATIR) task, where queries can alternate between audio and text modalities. We construct an ATIR benchmark by integrating several Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR), QA, and retrieval datasets, ultimately unifying four types of contextual retrieval tasks. This benchmark substantially addresses the limitations of existing audio retrieval datasets in semantic retrieval. To study this task, we evaluate several off-the-shelf retrievers and train our ATIR model based on a Multimodal Large Language Model (MLLM). We further propose a novel token compression mechanism, which is orthogonal to existing compression methods, to mitigate the challenge of excessive audio tokens in MLLM-based ATIR models. Experimental results show that our ATIR model achieves significant improvements over strong baselines.

MemRec: Collaborative Memory-Augmented Agentic Recommender System

Weixin Chen Hong Kong Baptist University, Yuhan Zhao, Jingyuan Huang Rutgers University, Zihe Ye Rutgers University, Mingxuan Ju Snap Inc., Tong Zhao Snap Inc., Neil Shah Snap Inc., Li Chen Hong Kong Baptist University 等 9 位作者

The evolution of recommender systems has shifted from traditional collaborative filtering to LLM-based agentic systems, which rely on semantic user and item memories to make predictions. However, existing agents maintain these memories in isolation. This overlooks crucial collaborative signals, such as user-item co-engagements and peer relationships across the community, which significantly limits their ability to uncover hidden preferences and accurately infer user needs, particularly for data-sparse users. To bridge this gap, we introduce collaborative memory, a paradigm that connects isolated semantics to enable the sharing of relational insights. Yet, naively utilizing collaborative memory causes severe context overload and introduces noise to downstream LLMs, alongside prohibitive computational costs. To resolve this, we propose MemRec, a framework that architecturally decouples memory management from reasoning. MemRec introduces a dedicated, lightweight language model LM_Mem to efficiently manage and synthesize a dynamic collaborative memory graph in the background. It provides only distilled, high-signal contexts to a downstream, heavyweight large language model (LLM_Rec) for the final recommendation. Extensive experiments on four benchmarks demonstrate that MemRec achieves state-of-the-art performance. Code: https://github.com/rutgerswiselab/memrecHomepage: https://memrec.weixinchen.com

Threshold Differential Attention for Sink-Free, Ultra-Sparse, and Non-Dispersive Language Modeling

Xingyue Huang University of Oxford, Xueying Ding, Mingxuan Ju Snap Inc., Yozen Liu Snap Inc., Neil Shah Snap Inc., Tong Zhao Snap Inc.

Softmax attention struggles with long contexts due to structural limitations: the strict sum-to-one constraint forces attention sinks on irrelevant tokens, while probability mass disperses as sequence lengths increase. We tackle these problems with Threshold Differential Attention (TDA), a sink-free attention mechanism that achieves ultra-sparsity and improved robustness at longer sequence lengths without the computational overhead of projection methods or the performance degradation caused by noise accumulation of standard rectified attention. TDA applies row-wise extreme-value thresholding with a length-dependent gate, retaining only exceedances. Inspired by the differential transformer, TDA also subtracts an inhibitory view to enhance expressivity. Theoretically, we prove that TDA controls the expected number of spurious survivors per row to O(1) and that consensus spurious matches across independent views vanish as context grows. Empirically, TDA produces >99 % exact zeros and eliminates attention sinks while maintaining competitive performance on standard and long-context benchmarks.

Hierarchical Token Prepending: Enhancing Information Flow in Decoder-based LLM Embeddings

Xueying Ding, Xingyue Huang University of Oxford, Mingxuan Ju Snap Inc., Liam Collins Snap Inc., Yozen Liu Snap Inc., Leman Akoglu Amazon and Carnegie Mellon University, Neil Shah Snap Inc., Tong Zhao Snap Inc.

Large language models produce powerful text embeddings, but their causal attention mechanism restricts the flow of information from later to earlier tokens, degrading representation quality. While recent methods attempt to solve this by prepending a single summary token, they over-compress information, hence harming performance on long documents. We propose Hierarchical Token Prepending (HTP), a method that resolves two critical bottlenecks. To mitigate attention-level compression, HTP partitions the input into blocks and prepends block-level summary tokens to subsequent blocks, creating multiple pathways for backward information flow. To address readout-level over-squashing, we replace last-token pooling with mean-pooling, a choice supported by theoretical analysis. HTP achieves consistent performance gains across 11 retrieval datasets and 30 general embedding benchmarks, especially in long-context settings. As a simple, architecture-agnostic method, HTP effectively enhances both zero-shot and fine-tuned models, offering a scalable route to superior long-document embeddings.

R^3AG: Retriever Routing for Retrieval-Augmented Generation

Tong Zhao, Yutao Zhu, Yucheng Tian, Zhicheng Dou Renmin University of China

Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) has become a cornerstone for knowledge-intensive tasks. However, the efficacy of RAG is often bottlenecked by the “one-size-fits-all” retrieval paradigm, as different queries exhibit distinct preferences for different retrievers. While recent routing techniques attempt to select the optimal retriever dynamically, they typically operate under a ‘single and static capability’ assumption, selecting retrievers solely based on semantic relevance. This overlooks a critical distinction in RAG: a retrieved document must not only be relevant but also effectively support the generator in producing correct answers. To address this limitation, we propose R³AG, a novel routing framework that explicitly models the dynamic alignment between queries and retriever capabilities. Unlike previous approaches, R³AG decomposes retriever capability into two learnable dimensions: retrieval quality and generation utility. We employ a contrastive learning objective that leverages complementary supervision signals, i.e., document assessments and downstream answer correctness, to capture query-specific preference shifts. Extensive experiments on diverse knowledge-intensive tasks demonstrate that R³AG consistently outperforms both the best individual retrievers and state-of-the-art static routing methods.
