Robocasa-Mem: Benchmarking Environment and Process Memory in Long-Horizon Mobile Manipulation

Sihang Chen, Chen Ye, Wei Chen, Xiaohan Lei, Zhipeng Tang, Sha Zhang, Yuan Zhang, Zixuan Chen 等 11 位作者

In the real world, mobile manipulation robots must perform complex object interactions and make multi-step decisions, often relying on task-relevant information that is no longer observable. However, existing benchmarks provide limited evaluation of such memory-dependent decision-making in mobile manipulation. To address this gap, we introduce RoboCasa-Mem, a new benchmark comprising nine mobile manipulation tasks that require agents to use interaction history at key decision points. Specifically, the tasks are grouped into two categories of memory: One is environment memory, which captures spatial locations, object attributes, and object relationships. The other is process memory, which captures single-task progress and multi-task scheduling. Particularly, we introduce Behavior-Conditioned Evaluation. For tasks with multiple valid execution paths, instead of fixing a single target or trajectory, the evaluator derives later task constraints from the robot's earlier actions. This allows us to evaluate whether later behavior is consistent with the robot's own interaction history while reducing shortcuts based on fixed target assignments. We provide 1,800 successful demonstrations for policy training. We also develop a baseline on our benchmark, namely Hierarchical Memory-Augmented Policy(HMAP). Its high-level planner uses structured entity and process memories to generate subtasks. Its low-level VLA controller uses subgoal-conditioned queries to incorporate VGGT-Omega geometry into action generation. Together, RoboCasa-Mem and HMAP baseline support systematic evaluation of memory-dependent behavior and the development of memory-aware mobile manipulation policies.

DomainShuttle: Freeform Open Domain Subject-driven Text-to-video Generation

Nan Chen, Yiyang Cai, Weinan Jia, Zhuowei Chen, Wen Zhou, Wenhan Luo

Open domain subject-driven text-to-video (S2V) generation has drawn significant interest in academia and industry. Open domain S2V mainly involves two scenarios: in-domain, which requires retaining the reference subject features as much as possible, and cross-domain, which preserves the intrinsic features of the subject while allowing subject-irrelevant properties to vary flexibly according to the text prompt. Existing methods primarily focus on maximizing subject fidelity in in-domain scenarios, which limits their editability and adaptability in cross-domain scenarios, such as novel styles, semantic combinations, or domain attributes. In this study, we propose that an ideal S2V method should flexibly shuttle between different domains, achieving strong performance in both in-domain and cross-domain scenarios. To this end, we propose DomainShuttle, which could achieve high fidelity and generative flexibility for open domain video personalization. Specifically, we introduce Domain-MoT, which decouples videos and reference features and introduces the domain-aware AdaLN for domain-specific modeling of reference images. We then introduce the Video-Reference DualRoPE scheme, which places reference image tokens and video tokens in separate RoPE spaces to enable precise subject-level spatial modeling, and Cross-Pair Consistent Loss, which aims to extract intrinsic subject features unaffected by irrelevant features. Extensive experiments demonstrate that DomainShuttle achieves significant performance improvements over existing methods, exhibiting high subject fidelity and generative flexibility across diverse open domain application scenarios.

IMFuse: Instance-Aware Multi-Layer Fusion for LLM-Enhanced Sequential Recommendation

Yuheng Zheng, Yu Cui, Bin Wu, Jian Zhang, Ye Feng, Can Wang, Jiawei Chen

Leveraging large language models (LLMs) to enrich item embeddings with textual semantics has become a prevailing paradigm for enhancing sequential recommendation (SR). However, existing methods typically rely solely on the final-layer LLM embeddings, leaving the semantics encoded in other layers largely unexploited. Through an empirical analysis, we uncover three key findings: 1) item embeddings from deeper LLM layers suffer from increasingly severe spectral collapse, which reduces their information richness and hinders the optimization; 2) intermediate LLM layers encode complementary item semantics beyond the final layer; 3) different items exhibit heterogeneous layer-wise semantic patterns. These findings suggest that the final layer alone is insufficient and that multi-layer LLM semantics should be exploited adaptively for each item. To this end, we propose IMFuse, a novel Instance-Aware MultiLayer Fusion strategy for LLM-enhanced SR. IMFuse adaptively aggregates embeddings from all LLM layers with learnable layerwise fusion weights, and further customizes the fusion for each item via an instance-aware Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) module. As a plugand-play strategy, IMFuse can be seamlessly integrated into various SR backbones and LLM-based enhancement methods. Extensive experiments on four real-world datasets demonstrate that IMFuse consistently improves state-of-the-art methods, achieving an average relative improvement of 6.72% with limited computational overhead.

SysPilot: Cross-Library Performance Autotuning via Library Performance Contracts

Yineng Yan, Haowei Chen, Christopher J. Rossbach

Modern scientific and machine-learning applications compose many independently developed libraries. When these libraries run together, their independently managed runtimes can oversubscribe shared resources: using the same CPU cores, fighting over GPUs, or contending for memory bandwidth. Avoiding such contention requires careful configuration across library boundaries. Existing autotuners do not directly investigate what resources are shared between libraries, which runtime signals correlate with interference. As a result, they are inefficient for finding optimal configurations to mitigate contention. This paper presents SysPilot, a cross-library performance autotuning system based on Library Performance Contract (LPC). A Library Performance Contract captures a library's resource demands, assumptions, controls, and observability signals in LPCL, a specification language for describing library resource requirements. SysPilot synthesizes contracts from documentation and code artifacts, composes contracts from the libraries used by an application, derives resource-conflict hypotheses, profiles the application to validate those hypotheses, and selects candidate configurations. This design makes the Library Performance Contract a reusable unit of performance knowledge: a contract for a library can be reused across many applications that depend on that library. We evaluate SysPilot on a benchmark suite of cross-library contention scenarios. The results show that SysPilot matches the performance of autotuners that rely on application-specific manual information while retaining cross-application reuse. Compared with general-purpose autotuners such as OpenTuner and SMAC3, SysPilot improves benchmark performance metrics by up to an additional 38% over the best configuration found by these autotuners, while using 3x fewer runs.

Farther the Shift, Sparser the Representation: Analyzing OOD Mechanisms in LLMs

Mingyu Jin, Yutong Yin, Jingcheng Niu, Qingcheng Zeng, Wujiang Xu, Mengnan Du, Wei Cheng, Zhaoran Wang 等 10 位作者

In this work, we investigate how the internal representations of Large Language Models (LLMs) change with inputs of increasing difficulty. Although sparsity changes may not be obvious for individual samples, dataset-level results reveal a consistent statistical trend: as task difficulty increases (e.g., harder questions, longer contexts, or more answer choices), the last hidden states of LLMs become systematically sparser. In short, \textbf{the harder the task, the sparser the representation}. This sparsity--difficulty relation is observable across diverse models and domains, suggesting that harder inputs drive more concentrated activation patterns in the last hidden state. Through a series of controlled analyses and learning-dynamics experiments, we show that representational density is a learned property of data familiarity: models develop rich, distributed representations for mastered patterns, while unfamiliar inputs default to sparser activations. Our finding is also actionable. We illustrate this with Sparsity-Guided Curriculum In-Context Learning (SG-ICL), which uses sparsity to select few-shot demonstrations matched to the query's difficulty, outperforming standard CoT and Auto-CoT baselines on MATH-500. Our study provides new insights into how LLM representations reflect task difficulty and how this signal can be leveraged for inference. Reconstructing Fraudulent Strategies in Online Payments via Interpretable Inverse Reinforcement Learning

Huilin He, Weiyu Han, Linbo Shao, Ruobing Zuo, Xiao Tan, Shuai Chen, Dawei Cheng

Payment fraud causes financial losses and undermines users' trust in web payment services. Although fraud detection is a critical defense for payment security, complex and diverse fraudulent behaviors can still evade detection. Generating fraud samples for data augmentation can broaden detectors' coverage of different fraud patterns. However, existing methods matching the distribution of transaction attributes alone do not ensure that generated sequences preserve the sequential relationships among transaction choices, payment feedback, and subsequent behavioral adjustments. To this end, we propose PaySeqGen, an interpretable inverse reinforcement learning framework that reconstructs fraud behavior policies from fraudsters' observed payment trajectories. We design a mechanism for constructing candidate actions to support plausible payment sequence generation while enabling exploration. The framework also learns interpretable behavioral rewards that capture fraudsters' preferences across different transaction contexts. By alternating between reward learning and policy optimization, the framework reconstructs policies that generate new fraud sequences for detector augmentation and learns interpretable rewards supporting sequential fraud-pattern analysis in real trajectories. Experiments in real-world payment scenarios at Ant International, a leading global digital payment provider, show that PaySeqGen outperforms state-of-the-art generative augmentation methods. Reward-based trajectory analysis also identifies fraud patterns of practical value, helping analyst locating suspicious segments and examine multistep fraud tactics. Evaluation in the deployed system of online payment further confirms its effectiveness.

A Self-Evolving Agent for Longitudinal Personal Health Management

Haoran Li, Jiebi Deng, Tong Jin, Jinghong Han, Yuxin Wang, Zexin Wang, Jinyu Sun, Qingyi Si 等 14 位作者

Medical large language models and agents show strong single-encounter question answering and evidence interpretation but struggle to accumulate and govern experience across encounters. We present HealthJev, an open-source agent separating shared safety rules and medical knowledge from a private longitudinal memory and distilling lessons from completed cases. To filter out erroneous lessons before they affect future behaviour, we self-train JevGate, a lightweight System-One model that decides which lessons enter memory; each decision takes a median of 86 milliseconds and about 1,000 input tokens, sustaining experience accumulation at negligible run-time overhead. On a longitudinal benchmark of 90-day simulated daily interactions for 20 users built from real MIMIC-IV trajectories, HealthJev outperformed a memory-free ReAct agent and three memory-augmented frameworks, with all paired comparisons significant. Across six tasks spanning clinical records, medical imaging, genomics and clinical text, HealthJev improved every task with a mean gain of 13.3 percentage points over the base condition, surpassing all baselines. The frozen library transferred to six further backbones with macro-average gains of 6.8 to 15.1 percentage points, and one task's library brought gains on other tasks. These results indicate that governed, self-evolving memory supports longitudinal personal health management beyond single encounters. HealthJev is publicly available at https://github.com/HC-Guo/Self-Evolving_HealthJev.

StepX-OPD: Rethinking Multi-Teacher On-Policy Distillation in Diffusion Models

Chenru Wang, Xuanyang Zhang, Yucheng Han, Wenbo Nie, Wei Cheng, Xianfang Zeng, Gang YU, Chi Zhang

A deployable text-to-image diffusion model must hold several capabilities at once, such as instruction following, text rendering and human preference, and must sample in a few steps. Capabilities and few-step sampling are built in separate stages: a full-step model first consolidates capabilities through multi-teacher on-policy distillation, then serves as a fixed teacher for step distillation. Every full-step model we evaluate scores lower once compressed, and the second stage cannot begin until the first finishes. We introduce StepX-OPD, which merges the two stages: one student acquires every capability while learning to sample in a few steps, so frozen specialists supervise it on the states its own rollout visits rather than on a longer trajectory it never runs. Because a decomposition of the rollout's KL weights velocity mismatch most heavily near the clean end, we also regress the student's velocity on the low-noise part of the rollout. Separately, we find that capability integration makes models write prompt words into images on prompts that never asked for text, and we give a variant that lowers it. We evaluate on SD3.5-Medium and FLUX.1-dev across instruction following, text rendering, image quality and human preference. On both architectures, StepX-OPD attains the highest normalized average score among the four-step methods compared and exceeds the forty-step Flow-OPD model, and on SD3.5-Medium it trains with about 37% fewer GPU-hours than sequential DiffusionOPD followed by step distillation.

Integrating Machine Learning and Uncertainty Quantification for Real-Time Decision-Making in Digital Twins: A System-Centric Review and Perspective

Yi-Ping Chen, Ying-Kuan Tsai, Seul Lee, Vispi Karkaria, Dex Doksoo Lee, Wei Chen

Digital Twins are evolving from passive virtual representations into closed-loop systems that continuously synchronize with physical assets and drive real-time decisions. Yet predictive modeling, machine learning (ML), uncertainty quantification (UQ), and decision-making have been studied as separate capabilities, leaving limited understanding of their integration and maintenance during online operation. This narrative review, scoped by the functional requirements of real-time decision-making rather than by Digital Twin terminology alone, examines how such decisions are generated and sustained in engineering Digital Twins. We first examine foundational decision-making architectures and representative engineering applications, followed by methods that address their limitations across the decision loop. We identify optimization-based, policy-based, and knowledge-based approaches as the major pathways from virtual representation to action. Across them, ML plays three roles in decision-making: enabling efficient surrogate modeling, transforming heterogeneous physical feedback into decision-relevant information, and accelerating or directly generating decisions. UQ supports uncertainty-aware decisions and model adaptation, while continual validation, drift detection, and adaptation help maintain reliable operation as the physical system evolves. Together, these findings underscore the need for a shift from a model-centric to a system-centric perspective on Digital Twins, where its performance depends on the interactions with sensing, state estimation, computation, decision-making, and adaptation rather than on their standalone performance. Therefore, future research should shift from isolated algorithm development toward system-level co-design, scalable decision-making, and approaches to design, and data-efficient continual adaptation and validation for AI-enabled autonomous systems.

Who Built This Model? Tracing LLM Lineage via Spectral Fingerprints in Weight Space

Yiwei Chen, Bingqi Shang, Sijia Liu

Open-weight large language models (LLMs) are increasingly developed through complex, multi-stage pipelines, leading to intricate lineage relationships that reflect model origin, ownership, and evolution. Understanding these relationships is important for model provenance, governance, and supply-chain integrity. In this work, we investigate the notion of LLM "biometrics" (analogous to human biometrics) to ask whether LLMs exhibit intrinsic fingerprints in weight space alone, without access to input data, that reveal their origin and lineage. We formulate this as a lineage discrimination problem, distinguishing among independent-origin, same-series, and shared-base models. To characterize these relationships, we propose a unified geometric fingerprinting framework that analyzes weight matrices from two complementary perspectives: (i) spectral energy, captured by singular value distributions to encode global magnitude patterns, and (ii) subspace alignment, quantified via subspace deviations to capture directional geometry. Our analysis uncovers a clear hierarchy of structural similarity in weight space: spectral energy reliably distinguishes independently trained models and different model families, while subspace alignment enables fine-grained discrimination among closely related models, including variations in dataset scale and post-training procedures. Extensive experiments on over 110 diverse open-weight LLM pairs demonstrate that weight-space geometry provides a robust and interpretable signal for model lineage, enabling coarse-grained regime separation and fine-grained discrimination within shared-base models.

CVE-Conditioned Exploit Generation with LLMs: A Data-Centric Study of Benchmarking and Fine-Tuning

Yiwei Chen, Lichi Li, Kai Cheung, Vinny Parla, Ganesh Sundaram

We study the task of CVE-conditioned exploit generation, where a model drafts proof-of-concept (PoC) exploits given software vulnerability context. We adopt a data-centric approach, constructing a high-quality dataset via multi-stage preprocessing and introducing a scalable evaluation framework with LLM-as-judge and fine-grained rubrics. Under this unified setup, we benchmark 17 large language models across 8 evaluation criteria, providing systematic insights into their zero-shot capabilities. We further show that a compact 8B open-weight model, when fine-tuned on curated data, achieves over 42.5% improvement in exploit quality and rivals some proprietary models when combined with simple test-time rejection strategies. Our results highlight the importance of data quality, structured supervision, and evaluation design for reliable exploit generation, suggesting that these factors can be as critical as model scale in adapting LLMs to cybersecurity tasks.

HierFlow: Hierarchical Coupled Dual-Space Search for Automatic Agentic Workflow Generation

Dong Li, Yanchi Liu, Xujiang Zhao, Wei Cheng, Zhengzhang Chen, Xintao Wu, Zhong Chen, Haifeng Chen 等 9 位作者

Although structured workflows empower Large Language Models (LLMs) to tackle complex problems, automating their creation is severely hindered by a vast combinatorial search space, frequently resulting in inflexible and resource-heavy offline training dependencies. To address this, we conceptualize workflow generation as an intertwined topology-and-execution search paradigm, where the broader topological layer dictates subtask boundaries and lower-level execution outcomes actively reshape the topology itself. Building on this foundation, we introduce HierFlow, a training-free, test-time hierarchical search architecture that automates agentic workflow design by merging feedback-guided topology adjustments with a fast, MCTS-inspired tree search for sub-workflow optimization. HierFlow maximizes efficiency through an intelligent gating module that selectively triggers execution-level searches based on contextual necessity, a mechanism we further support with an in-depth analysis detailing how varying degrees of cross-task coupling impact the effectiveness of hierarchical splitting. Comprehensive testing across question answering, mathematical reasoning, and code generation benchmarks confirms that HierFlow consistently outperforms strong baselines, delivering an optimal balance of high-quality results and computational efficiency without any additional training overhead.

Rank-Aware Differentially Private Release of Listwise Preferences for LLM Alignment

Junwei Chen, Manjiang Yu, Pengpeng Qiao, Yang Cao

Listwise preference feedback offers richer supervision for large language model (LLMs) alignment than pairwise comparisons, but a full ranking also reveals more sensitive user preferences. Existing privacy-preserving alignment methods focus mainly on pairwise feedback, while listwise alignment under local differential privacy (LDP) remains unexplored. Extending LDP to this listwise domain raises a critical challenge: the high sensitivity of the full ranking space demands excessive noise, neutralizing the benefits of listwise supervision. To address this challenge, we analyze the interaction between supervision granularity and privacy noise in downstream training, and introduce a rank-aware exponential mechanism that privatizes listwise preference data into a low-sensitivity granularity suitable for downstream alignment. The mechanism leverages ranking information to sample a fixed-size binary partition, concentrating the noise near borderline items instead of perturbing all items uniformly as randomized response (RR) does. Empirical evaluations on downstream LLM alignment tasks show that our mechanism consistently outperforms existing LDP baselines at matched privacy budgets. The code is available at https://github.com/tdsai-lab/RAEM.

UA-Depth: Uncertainty-Aware Depth Restoration for Material-Agnostic Object Manipulation

Rui Cao, Jia-Hui Pan, Yin Zhang, Qiwei Meng, Jiapeng Li, Gang Wang, Runsong Zhu, Wei Chen 等 11 位作者

Robotic manipulation requires accurate metric depth, yet commodity RGB-D cameras often fail on non-Lambertian objects such as transparent, reflective, and translucent materials, producing holes, structured noise, and biased depth. Most restoration methods produce only a single depth map, treating noisy and reliable regions uniformly for downstream tasks while ignoring regional uncertainty. We present UA-Depth, an uncertainty-aware depth restoration framework that iteratively co-refines depth and pixel-wise uncertainty, and uses uncertainty-gated features to suppress unreliable cues for stable updates. To strengthen zero-shot behavior, UA-Depth leverages a frozen depth foundation model as a prior to initialize missing or unreliable depth, and applies two-stage MAD-weighted log-depth scale normalization to reduce outlier bias in relative-to-metric alignment. We introduce an eight-dataset zero-shot benchmark across diverse scenes, materials, and sensors. Across these benchmarks, UA-Depth achieves the best mean rank among representative baselines, with particularly strong gains on datasets dominated by transparent and reflective objects. Beyond depth metrics, we demonstrate downstream improvements in category-level 6D pose estimation and 6D grasp synthesis by exploiting the predicted uncertainty. \emph{Code, models, and data for training and evaluation will be released upon publication.}

Optimal Conversion from Zero-Concentrated to Gaussian Differential Privacy

Yu-Wei Chen, Aaradhya Pandey, Jordan Awan

Gaussian differential privacy (GDP) and zero-concentrated differential privacy (zCDP) are two competing privacy accounting frameworks, but they share similar minimax lower bounds in various estimation problems. Moreover, it is known that a mechanism satisfying $μ$-GDP satisfies $(μ^2/2)$-zCDP, whereas the converse fails to hold at the same calibration. In this paper, we establish the optimal reverse conversion, showing that every $ρ$-zCDP mechanism satisfies $μ_{\mathrm{zCDP}}(ρ)$-GDP, where $μ_{\mathrm{zCDP}}(ρ)=2Φ^{-1}((1+e^{-t_ρ})^{-1})$ and $t_ρ$ uniquely solves the equation $ρ=t_ρ\tanh(t_ρ/2)$. We also obtain simplified bounds $\sqrt{πρ}\leqμ_{\mathrm{zCDP}}(ρ)\leq\sqrt{8ρ}$, with sharp constants, which imply equivalence of the two frameworks up to constants. This explains why their minimax risks agree up to a constant rescaling of the privacy budget. We show that the squared conversion is strictly convex, which implies that converting zCDP to GDP before applying composition or group privacy yields a tighter GDP guarantee than converting afterward. We also derive the sharp conversion from bounded-range and logistic DP mechanisms (e.g., exponential mechanism) to GDP, where converting before composition but after group privacy gives the tighter guarantee.

MoLRSI: A Recursive Self-Improving AI agent for Molecular Discovery

Yikun Zhang, Xiwei Cheng, Mingze Yuan, Yu Zhang, Brian Shim, Aarti Krishnan, Daniel Rosen, Kunyang Sun 等 18 位作者

Molecular discovery requires navigating vast combinatorial search spaces while balancing competing biological objectives. AI agents can automate expert-defined molecular design protocols, but automation alone does not address how to optimize workflows for new tasks or improve their development through experience. Here we introduce MoLRSI, an AI agent that combines systematic optimization of workflows and model architectures with persistent cross-task memory to recursively improve its search policy for molecular discovery. Workflow performance, refinement outcomes, and execution feedback guide subsequent searches, allowing the agent to improve both its workflows and its strategy for developing them. We evaluate MoLRSI in two challenging molecular discovery settings that require balancing competing properties. In antibiotic discovery, MoLRSI developed a screening workflow balancing antibacterial activity, cytotoxicity and structural novelty, achieving an experimental hit rate of 15.9%, compared with 8.7% for a previous expert-led workflow using the same training data and screening library. In de novo peptide-MHC binder design, MoLRSI developed workflows that jointly consider target binding and specificity, producing eight experimentally validated hits against MART-1 and SARS-CoV-1 pMHCs with preferential binding over tested off-targets while Claude Science completely failed. These findings demonstrate how experience-guided workflow optimization can address competing discovery objectives while improving the search strategies used in subsequent campaigns.

ATLAS: Dual-Horizon Diagnostic Evaluation for Tool-Use Agents in Meituan Xiaotua

Wei Chen, Peilun Zhou, Zhaoyu Hu, Jiajun Chai, Derong Xu, Zhongni Hou, Yufei Zhang, Guojun Yin 等 11 位作者

LLM-based assistants on web-scale service platforms increasingly address local-service needs through multi-step planning and tool use. Under dynamic business conditions and evolving user needs, outcome-level evaluation offers limited evidence of where execution fails or how service drifts across continued interaction. We present ATLAS, a dual-horizon diagnostic evaluation framework for industrial tool-use agents. Within-turn evaluation uses trajectory-wise signals across thinking and reflection, tool and skill execution, and response generation to identify execution failures and unmet capability requirements. Across-turn evaluation uses user-wise signals spanning multiple lifecycles to diagnose failures in maintaining or updating user intent, constraints, and corrections. Fine-grained signals use rule-based checks and LLM judgments with explicit evidence scopes and decision boundaries. To support reliable diagnosis at production scale, LLM judges are calibrated against dynamically maintained references from business logs, and selected judges are distilled into compact diagnostic models. The resulting diagnostic profiles help developers attribute failures, prioritize targeted interventions, and reassess improvements. Applied in Meituan Xiaotuan, a million-scale DAU local-services assistant, ATLAS achieves high diagnostic fidelity across calibrated judges and distilled models. Blinded human auditing and a 14-day online A/B test with nearly two million users per arm confirm that the ATLAS-guided agent improves recommendation relevance, factual reliability, user engagement (+2.84% answer read-through rate), and order volume (+6.13% paid orders), leading to full production deployment.

UniTele: Learning Device-Conditioned Degradations for Unified Smartphone Telephoto Super-Resolution

Yuchen Zhang, Aojie Li, Wei Cheng, Xianfang Zeng, Runxing Liu, haixin hao, Gang YU, Xiaoyun Yuan

Super-telephoto imaging on mobile phones suffers from complex, device-dependent degradations that are poorly captured by conventional handcrafted pipelines. Collecting large-scale aligned training pairs across different phones and diverse scenes, however, is both costly and difficult to scale. We therefore study whether device-specific degradations can be learned from only a small number of physical captures and transferred for training a unified super-resolution (SR) model. Our key idea is to factor degradation learning into two learnable components: one captures the device-specific imaging characteristics under well-resolved conditions, while the other captures the additional information loss and artifacts that arise in super-telephoto imaging. We build a paired benchmark across three phone brands (Huawei, Apple, and vivo) by photographing the same content at two display sizes and zoom settings. The larger displayed image is captured at the phone's maximum optical zoom setting, while the smaller image is photographed directly at the phone's highest native zoom setting through the phone's native imaging pipeline. The benchmark contains 519 training and 60 held-out pairs. We use the benchmark to learn device-specific degradation, then apply it to external images to synthesize thousands of additional pairs to train our UniTele SR model. Relative to the pretrained Qwen and FLUX backbones before adaptation, the full UniTele training recipe substantially improves paired restoration fidelity and perceptual similarity on the held-out benchmark and yields markedly more stable and visually faithful restorations.

Telling Is Not Seeing: Textual Personas Rarely Make Vision-Language Models Answer Like the People They Describe

Jiawei Chen

Vision-language models (VLMs) are increasingly prompted with personas, such as "You have low vision", to stand in for people in user studies. We ask whether a persona makes a model see like the person it describes. We compare persona answers with measured people with low vision, color blindness or hearing loss, and with simple rules that use only the facts the persona states. The persona never beats these rules, and it erases the real differences between groups and individuals. Describing blur leaves recognition unchanged in all 14 models we test, while blurring the photo lowers it as it does for people. Inside open models, the description changes neither the image information nor the answer probabilities. Yet the models know the effects they fail to show: they can estimate how blur and illusions affect people. Telling is not seeing: a persona makes a model say what it knows about people, not see what they see.

SaiVLA-JEPA: Evaluating Future Latent Prediction in JEPA-Conditioned VLA Control

Rufeng Xiao, Ruihao Xiao, Wei Chen, Xinhai Sun

Joint-embedding predictive architectures (JEPAs) learn to predict representations rather than pixels, offering a compact way to model how visual scenes evolve. We ask whether this predictive objective improves closed-loop control when a vision-language-action (VLA) policy already uses V-JEPA features. We call our JEPA-conditioned flow policy family SaiVLA-JEPA. It combines a vision-language model with a diffusion transformer action expert and receives features from a frozen V-JEPA encoder. Two lightweight auxiliary heads predict future representations during training and are omitted at inference, leaving the action sampler unchanged. We compare policies without JEPA features, with current JEPA conditioning, and with additional future supervision on 10,030 paired LIBERO-Plus episodes. Current JEPA conditioning reaches about 82.5% success versus 71.6% without JEPA, while future supervision provides no detectable aggregate gain at the evaluated training budget. We separately evaluate SaiVLA-JEPA-TCA, which adapts latent context, and SaiVLA-JEPA-TPA, which adapts selected parameters. The context-retry gain is a system-level result under a larger attempt budget; parameter adaptation shows no consistent advantage over the frozen policy and target controls. These results motivate assessing latent-prediction objectives through paired closed-loop rollouts rather than latent loss alone.

Holistic Diversity Management in LLM-Guided Evolutionary Search

Seockbean Song, Youngsik Yoon, Sungjae Lee, Siwei Wang, Wei Chen, Jungseul Ok

LLM-guided evolutionary search iteratively selects existing programs, uses LLMs as mutation operators to generate a new program, and evaluates it to guide subsequent search. To preserve diversity and reduce the risk of premature convergence, it often adopts the island model, in which groups of programs, called islands, evolve separately. However, this structure alone does not guarantee distinct search directions, as islands may start from similar programs or converge toward similar solutions during evolution. This suggests that diversity must be considered throughout the search process, from initializing islands with distinct programs to developing island trajectories and sharing discoveries across islands. To this end, we propose HoliDivEvolve , a holistic approach to establishing and effectively utilizing island diversity throughout evolutionary search. Specifically, we introduce diverse initialization to establish different initial programs, trajectory adaptive island selection to allocate computation based on current score, recent growth, and the remaining search budget, and growth adaptive migration to share alternative ideas across islands. Experiments across diverse benchmarks show that HoliDivEvolve achieves competitive performance on most evaluated tasks. We further conduct controlled analyses to examine how our design choices affect search behavior and final performance.

Large language models (LLMs) are advancing in multimodal understanding and reasoning, accelerating medical model development. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) uses evidence from the four examinations to determine disease location and nature, differentiate syndromes and guide treatment. This diagnostic process constitutes a complete chain of reasoning. We present Fu-TCM, a multimodal TCM LLM trained on data retained after cleaning and filtering an initial collection of approximately 7.12 million examples derived from classical texts, textbooks, medical images, clinical cases and publicly available datasets. The model was further optimized using Bianzheng-Grounded Policy Optimization (BGPO), which explicitly targets syndrome differentiation through rewards for response format, intermediate TCM reasoning fields and final syndrome predictions. Fu-TCM-27B led all six benchmarks spanning TCM reasoning, text and vision, achieving a macro-average accuracy of 81.01% and surpassing the strongest reference model with complete results across all six benchmarks by 7.13 percentage points. Its largest margin was 11.90 points on Fu-bianzheng. Case-level analyses further showed a positive association between intermediate-field accuracy and final syndrome-selection accuracy in most evaluated models. These findings suggest that TCM syndrome differentiation may be computationally learnable and that structured reasoning supervision can improve performance across TCM tasks.

PulmoWorld: An Asynchronous Multimodal Medical World Model for Longitudinal Pneumonia Dynamics

Pneumonia changes across respiration, inflammation, and organ function, while the measurements that describe it arrive at different times and are often incomplete. We introduce PULMOWORLD, a world model for longitudinal pneumonia dynamics that connects asynchronous state estimation, recursive simulation, and evidence-constrained planning. History-aware filtering separates state propagation from observation-driven correction, so a measurement updates the shared belief only when it is observed. That belief supports recursive forecasts of clinical values and modality representations, and summaries of future prognosis. Cap-MBRL searches imagined continuations inside an authorized action set and replaces a frozen fallback only when a candidate meets the risk budget and a predicted-cost margin. On the pneumonia cohort MASS, recursive forecasts are competitive with task-trained sequence models, and simulated future states retain prognostic information. Trained separately on public MIMIC-IV-CXR chest radiographs and clinical trajectories, this model improves prognostic discrimination over latest-value fusion in development and is competitive on long-horizon error on the locked pneumonia panel. In five known-mechanism MASS-Syn environments, Cap-MBRL lowers selection regret relative to direct fallback execution.

One-Step Score-Based Density Ratio Estimation

Wei Chen, Qibin Zhao, John Paisley, Junmei Yang, Delu Zeng

Density ratio estimation (DRE) is a useful tool for quantifying discrepancies between probability distributions, but existing approaches often involve a trade-off between estimation quality and computational efficiency. Classical direct DRE methods are usually efficient at inference time, yet their performance can seriously deteriorate when the discrepancy between distributions is large. In contrast, score-based DRE methods often yield more accurate estimates in such settings, but they typically require considerable repeated function evaluations and numerical integration. We propose One-step Score-based Density Ratio Estimation (OS-DRE), a partly analytic and solver-free framework designed to combine these complementary advantages. OS-DRE decomposes the time score into spatial and temporal components, representing the latter with an analytic radial basis function (RBF) frame. This formulation converts the otherwise intractable temporal integral into a closed-form weighted sum, thereby removing the need for numerical solvers and enabling DRE with only one function evaluation. We further analyze approximation conditions for the analytic frame, and establish approximation error bounds for both finitely and infinitely smooth temporal kernels, grounding the framework in existing approximation theory. Experiments across density estimation, continual Kullback-Leibler and mutual information estimation, and near out-of-distribution detection demonstrate that OS-DRE offers a favorable balance between estimation quality and inference efficiency.

ShredBench: Evaluating the Semantic Reasoning Capabilities of Multimodal LLMs in Document Reconstruction

Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) have achieved remarkable performance in Visually Rich Document Understanding (VRDU) tasks, but their capabilities are mainly evaluated on pristine, well-structured document images. We consider content restoration from shredded fragments, a challenging VRDU setting that requires integrating visual pattern recognition with semantic reasoning under significant content discontinuities. To facilitate systematic evaluation of complex VRDU tasks, we introduce ShredBench, a benchmark supported by an automated generation pipeline that renders fragmented documents directly from Markdown. The proposed pipeline ensures evaluation validity by allowing the flexible integration of latest or unseen textual sources to prevent training data contamination. ShredBench assesses four scenarios (English, Chinese, Code, Table) with three fragmentation granularities (8, 12, 16 pieces). Empirical evaluations on state-of-the-art MLLMs reveal a significant performance gap: The method is effective on intact documents; however, once the document is shredded, restoration becomes a significant challenge, with NED dropping sharply as fragmentation increases. Our findings highlight that current MLLMs lack the fine-grained cross-modal reasoning required to bridge visual discontinuities, identifying a critical gap in robust VRDU research.

GradCO: Behavior-Aware Gradient-Conflict Offloading for Text-Based Person Anomaly Search

Zhiheng Fu, Zixu Li, Zhiwei Chen, Jiale Huang, Fangxu Liu, Jinhe Bi, Yupeng Hu

Text-based Person Anomaly Search (TPAS) retrieves a target pedestrian using natural-language descriptions of appearance and normal or anomalous behavior. Unlike conventional text-based person retrieval, TPAS must preserve identity cues while distinguishing fine-grained behaviors. It presents two challenges: same-identity, different-behavior hard negatives cause gradient conflict during granular alignment, while strong appearance cues can obscure weak behavioral evidence during aggregation. We propose GradCO (behavior-aware Gradient-Conflict Offloading), comprising three complementary components. Behavior-Aware Mixture-of-Experts (B-MoE) forms appearance, normal-behavior, and anomalous-behavior streams whose roles are learned from retrieval objectives without expert-specific semantic labels. Conflict Offload Learning (COL) uses pair-conditioned offload anchors in similarity computation to reduce the conflicting-gradient burden on the main text representations. Hierarchical Intent Alignment (HIA) aggregates expert similarities and features using query-conditioned weights. Experiments on five TPAS/TIPR benchmarks show GradCO significantly surpasses SOTA methods and validate our design.

TaskBridge: Technical Report for SIGIR 2026 eCommerce Challenge

The SIGIR 2026 eCommerce Challenge Query Reformulation Task evaluates the reformulation of task-oriented queries into expressions suitable for product retrieval, followed by BM25-based retrieval. These queries often imply product needs through activity-level semantics, creating a lexical gap with catalog descriptions. Systems must preserve task intent while adapting the number of reformulations to the Automatic and Interactive protocols. We propose TaskBridge, a catalog-anchored framework comprising Catalog Semantic Anchoring, Unified Five-Candidate Rewriting, and Protocol-Aware Selection. It grounds queries in catalog vocabulary, generates five complementary reformulations, and selects one query for Automatic retrieval or up to four for Interactive retrieval using BM25 scores, query-product reranking, and weighted Jaccard overlap. The selected queries are independently executed using BM25 to produce results in the required six-column format. Experiments demonstrate improved retrieval effectiveness, with multiple complementary queries providing additional gains in the Interactive setting. TaskBridge achieved first place in the SIGIR 2026 eCommerce Challenge.

TopoField: Technical Report for ECCV 2026 SceneFun3D Challenge

Zhiwei Chen, Zhiheng Fu, Zixu Li, Mingyu Zhang, Jiale Huang, Yupeng Hu

Functional segmentation requires locating small interactive parts, such as knobs, buttons, and sockets, in indoor point clouds and returning confidence-ranked instance masks. A point-wise semantic predictor produces a continuous probability field, whereas the benchmark evaluates a discrete set of scored instances. This creates a substantial field-to-instance gap. We present TopoField, a deterministic decoder built on top of VOLT. TopoField first converts 13 test-time forward passes into a semantic consensus field, then decodes instance candidates from the consensus geometry, and finally ranks the candidates in a class-aware manner. The augmentation stage retains the processed-point identity of every fragment prediction, accumulates probabilities in a common point array, normalizes by coverage count, and fuses the resulting caches. The decoding stage separates high-confidence cores from broader support regions, constructs a symmetric radius-pruned point graph, and uses a multi-source graph-geodesic partition to split support regions that contain multiple seeds. On 561 ground-truth instances across 30 validation scenes, an IoU-0.5-valid candidate exists for 67.2% of instances, and top-1 coverage is 20.0%. These complementary measurements motivate joint attention to candidate construction and ranking. TopoField achieves 28.286% AP, 41.383% AP50, and 47.558% AP25. TopoField achieved second place on the ECCV 2026 SceneFun3D Challenge.

KL-MOPD: Discrepancy-Aware Multi-Objective On-Policy Distillation for Generative Recommendation

Weiqin Yang, Yandong Wang, Yuan Gao, Hao Deng, Jinxin Hu, Jing Cao, Jiawei Chen

Coordinating multiple recommendation objectives (e.g., click and conversion) is critical for real-world generative recommendation (GR). However, since a positive item in GR can be retrieved only when its tokens are successively selected at every decoding step, traditional item-wise methods lack fine-grained token-wise supervision to guide intermediate steps. Motivated by its success in foundation models, we consider introducing multi-objective on-policy distillation (MOPD) into GR to distill two single-objective teachers into a student at each token. Yet, we find that in vanilla MOPD, (i) teachers exhibit unequal distillation difficulty at each token (i.e., token-level imbalance), and (ii) the harder-to-distill teacher varies across tokens (i.e., cross-token inconsistency), leaving each objective poorly learned at certain steps and hindering positive item retrieval for both objectives, leading to suboptimal performance. To address this challenge, we propose KL-MOPD (KL-Weighted Multi-Objective On-Policy Distillation), a simple yet effective distillation method that allocates token-wise teacher weights proportional to the initial student-teacher token-wise KL divergences, thereby strengthening supervision for the harder-to-distill teacher at every decoding step. Despite its simplicity, we theoretically prove that KL-MOPD strictly outperforms vanilla MOPD in the additive joint recommendation objective under mild conditions. Moreover, KL-MOPD is plug-and-play and computationally efficient, requiring only a one-time pre-training weight calibration with negligible training overhead. Extensive experiments on three public benchmarks, a billion-scale industrial dataset, and online A/B tests on our e-commerce advertising platform demonstrate that KL-MOPD significantly improves both individual and joint recommendation performance. The anonymous code is provided for peer review.

TrawMem: Reframing Agent Memory as Task-Oriented Role-Adaptive Workspaces

Mingyu Zhang, Zixu Li, Zhiheng Fu, Zhiwei Chen, Jinhe Bi, Yupeng Hu

Large language model (LLM) agents rely on memory systems to leverage long-term interactions, yet existing systems typically retrieve memories based on their relevance to the current query and use them as contextual evidence. However, relevance alone does not characterize how a memory contributes to task solving: the same memory may serve different roles across tasks, such as directly supporting the answer or linking to complementary memories with weaker semantic relevance but necessary information. We therefore reframe agent memory systems as Task-Oriented Role-Adaptive Workspaces, where memories are selected and organized by their task-oriented roles and relations. Based on this view, we propose TrawMem, which organizes interaction histories into local threads and constructs task-oriented workspaces by assigning roles and jointly selecting complementary memories. Experiments on LoCoMo and MemGallery with four open- and closed-source backbones show consistent improvements over representative memory systems, with macro-F1 gains of 2.23-3.14 points. On LoCoMo, TrawMem improves the LLM-Judge score over SimpleMem by 4.07 and 4.31 percentage points on Qwen3.5-9B and DeepSeek-V4-Flash, respectively, while requiring approximately 12.8% and 5.1% fewer context tokens, respectively.
