GUI-AC:增强GUI智能体持续学习能力

GUI-AC: Enhancing Continual Learning in GUI Agents

AI 速览:GUI-AC提出一种持续强化微调框架,通过优势与策略概率联合刻画grounding rollout并引入grounding certainty,以针对性优化探索与过度自信问题。

Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) serve as the dominant medium for human-computer interaction, yet building GUI agents that generalize across the vast diversity of real-world interface environments, with the same flexibility and robustness that humans naturally exhibit, remains unsolved. Notably, GUI data are inherently non-stationary: the continual emergence of previously unseen interface instances (e.g., novel domains and resolutions) induces persistent distribution shifts, significantly impeding the continual learning of existing GUI agents. Reinforcement fine-tuning (RFT) has attracted considerable attention as a promising approach. Nevertheless, RFT exhibits pronounced instability in its grounding capability, where rollout outcomes are highly imbalanced and fixed clipping can suppress valuable exploration. More importantly, policy probability alone does not reveal the semantic role of a grounding prediction. To address these challenges, we propose GUI-AC, a continual RFT framework that jointly characterizes grounding rollouts through advantage and policy probability. This yields a four-region view of grounding behavior and enables targeted optimization of Exploration and Overconfidence. GUI-AC further introduces grounding certainty to support two core mechanisms: (i) Adaptive Advantage, which strengthens the negative correction for overconfident grounding failures; and (ii) Dynamic Clipping, which relaxes the upper clipping bound for exploratory grounding rollouts. Extensive experiments show that GUI-AC consistently outperforms state-of-the-art baselines. Code is available at https://anonymous.4open.science/r/GUI-AC-Code.

Mechanistic discovery in grain boundary structure and deformation driven by agentic AI

Yazhuo Liu, Kunqing Ding, Xiaoguo Gong, Zifeng Wang, Yichen Yang, Yifeng Che, Wen Chen, Josh Kacher 等 11 位作者

Agentic artificial intelligence (AI) systems hold immense potential for automating complex workflows in materials discovery and design, but extending these capabilities to domain-intensive mechanistic studies remains challenging. General grain boundaries (GBs) exemplify this challenge, as their structural complexity complicates experimental characterization and atomistic modeling. Here, we present GBClaw, an agentic AI framework for investigating the structure and deformation of general GBs, which are common in real polycrystals yet remain understudied. By integrating large language models into a modular architecture, GBClaw effectively combines systematic simulations with targeted mechanistic analysis through iterative workflow refinement and dynamic replanning. Applied to 14 general asymmetric tilt GBs in nickel, the framework characterized interfacial defect structures and deformation modes across these incommensurate boundaries. It established a general approach to identify previously unobserved, widely spaced secondary GB misfit dislocations (SGBMDs) alongside closely spaced primary GB misfit dislocations (PGBMDs) in simulated atomic configurations and experimental images. Comparisons of GB sliding with and without SGBMDs revealed substantial differences in shear strength, underscoring the critical role of misfit-dislocation hierarchies in sliding resistance. Researcher-guided follow-up calculations further elucidated the structural origins of shear asymmetry and an anomalous shear response. This work demonstrates that combining agentic AI with domain expertise bridges high-throughput computational screening and deep mechanistic discovery at complex material interfaces.

Auto-Research Arena: Benchmarking and Advancing Auto-Research in Language Modeling

Xi Chen, Chongjian Ge, Yiran Xu, Yiqun Mei, Henrik I. Christensen, Hao Tan, Ziwen Chen, Hanwen Jiang

As autonomous research systems become more capable, benchmarks must both evaluate their performance and support meaningful research progress. We introduce Auto-Research Arena, a multi-target benchmark for evaluating autonomous research systems and discovering ideas in language modeling. Arena supports diverse research objectives within a shared experimental environment by separating admissibility from improvement: model quality and resource constraints determine whether a result qualifies, while the selected target measures progress among admissible results. We instantiate Arena in language model pretraining with nine targets spanning model, data, training, and inference efficiency, and evaluate seven research harnesses using two foundation models. Arena clearly differentiates existing harnesses across research objectives, with several sophisticated methods outperformed by our simple sequential search baseline, indicating substantial headroom in current auto-research systems. Beyond evaluation, Arena reveals a substantially broader frontier of model and system ideas aligned with active research directions. Reusing these discoveries in a new quality-driven search yields lower training loss under matched data and FLOPs and lower held-out BPB at the same model size. Together, Arena provides a common framework for benchmarking autonomous research and expanding its scope in language modeling. The code is available at https://github.com/Auto-Research-Arena/auto-research-arena

CoHARL: Co-Evolving Agent Policies and Executable Harnesses with Reinforcement Learning

Jianwen Chen, Peng Xia, Kaide Zeng, Siwei Han, Zhen-Yu Zhang, Charles Fleming, Xinyu Ye, Huaxiu Yao

Large language model (LLM) agents interact with their environments through executable harnesses that govern tool use and feedback. Optimizing a harness for a fixed policy overlooks how its behavior changes during learning, while training a policy under a fixed harness leaves the interface that generates its training experience unchanged. This motivates adapting the harness throughout policy training. We introduce CoHARL, a population-based reinforcement learning framework that co-evolves a shared policy and a population of executable harnesses. The policy learns from rollouts across the population, and a proposer uses its execution traces to revise harness code during training. CoHARL achieves a 27.6% mean resolved rate on SWE-rebench, improving over harness-only search by 6.4 percentage points. Experiments on SWE-bench Verified and Terminal-Bench 2.0 show gains in software engineering and terminal-based tasks. Under matched training budgets, CoHARL also outperforms searching for a harness once before RL and alternating policy updates with revisions to a single active harness.

VidEdit3D: Flexible 3D Gaussian Editing with Video Diffusion

Yanming Yang, Chenxi Song, Tong Zhao, Juntao Xu, Wenhao Rao, Yiwen Chen, Yiwei Wang, Chi Zhang

Recent advancements in text-guided 3D editing, particularly with 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS), have shown promise but still lag behind the flexibility of 2D editing tools. Existing methods face a critical trade-off between preserving multi-view consistency and allowing structural modifications. Image-based editors can also struggle to apply the intended edit to objects viewed from unusual angles. To address these limitations, we introduce VidEdit3D, a framework that reformulates 3D scene editing as a trajectory-based video editing task. By drawing a parallel between camera movement in static 3D scenes and temporal dynamics in video, we leverage the robust spatiotemporal priors of pre-trained Video Diffusion Models (VDMs) to encourage semantic and structural coherence across views. Specifically, we propose Trajectory-Guided Rendering (TGR) to select informative keyframes and construct smooth video clips aligned with VDM input requirements. To propagate edits from an anchor view to these clips, we develop Flow-Aligned Video Editing (FAVE), a training-free framework incorporating an Editing Consistency Guidance (ECG) mechanism. ECG contrasts source and edited image conditions at a shared latent state, using scheduled source-image amplification to strengthen adherence to the edited reference while maintaining original scene context. Finally, we introduce Region-Selective 3DGS Refinement (RS-GS) to strictly confine geometric and appearance updates to target primitives, reducing background attribute leakage. Experiments demonstrate stronger instruction alignment and better multi-view consistency than the baselines.

Movable Antennas Enabled Wireless Powered Networks: Principles and Technologies

Zhendong Li, Yiran Zheng, Tianyu Li, Zhou Su, Wen Chen, Ying Wang

As an emerging framework, movable antenna (MA)-enabled wireless powered networks (WPNs) have attracted growing attention. WPNs integrate wireless communication and energy transfer. MA can dynamically adjust the position of antenna units by introducing additional spatial degrees of freedom, so as to make full use of channel gain, optimize the effect of energy beamforming, and further improve the performance of WPNs. In this article, we first classify the implementations of MA by driving architectures, and review the fundamental principles of WPNs. We then highlight the key advantages of MA-enabled WPNs in enhancing wireless power transfer efficiency, realizing flexible and adaptive beamforming, and improving system robustness and interference resilience. Furthermore, four representative application scenarios and three key enabling technologies are discussed. A case study is also presented to show the reduction in transmit power brought by MA for WPNs. Finally, we discuss the challenges and future directions of MA-enabled WPNs, aiming to provide reference for future research and practice.

RADAR: Risk-Aware Distilled Adaptive Routing for Efficient Short-Form Video Platform Ecosystem Governance

Baoyu Jing, Zixuan Wang, Junwen Chen, Xin Dong, Bingfeng Deng

Large-scale integrity enforcement on short-form video platforms typically relies on multiple specialized vertical modules, each dedicated to a specific risk category. However, exhaustively executing these computationally intensive modules over massive content streams leads to substantial inference overhead, despite the fact that most content is benign and violations are usually confined to limited policy domains. To address this inefficiency, we propose RADAR, a lightweight risk-aware routing framework that selectively releases low-risk content while dispatching high-risk instances to appropriate vertical modules. Industrial deployment of such routing systems presents two major challenges: (1) systematic label sparsity caused by disjoint annotation pipelines across risk categories, and (2) the capacity-efficiency tradeoff inherent to compact routing architectures. To overcome these challenges, RADAR incorporates Validity-Aware Masking to handle fragmented supervision and Expert-Guided Knowledge Distillation to transfer knowledge from heavyweight expert models into the lightweight router. Experiments on large-scale real-world datasets demonstrate that the proposed masking strategy effectively mitigates disjoint annotation issues, while distillation substantially enhances routing accuracy, enabling the lightweight router to achieve competitive or superior performance compared to specialized expert models.

Pan Lu, Bowen Chen Stanford University, Sheng Liu, Rahul Thapa, Joseph Boen Stanford University, James Zou Stanford University

Solving complex reasoning tasks may involve visual understanding, domain knowledge retrieval, numerical calculation, and multi-step reasoning. Existing methods augment large language models (LLMs) with external tools but are restricted to specialized domains, limited tool types, or require additional training data. In this paper, we introduce OctoTools, a training-free, user-friendly, and easily extensible multi-agent framework designed to tackle complex reasoning across diverse domains. OctoTools introduces standardized tool cards to encapsulate tool functionality, a planner for both high-level and low-level planning, and an executor to carry out tool usage. We validate OctoTools’ generality across 16 diverse tasks (including MathVista, MMLU-Pro, MedQA, and GAIA-Text), achieving substantial average accuracy gains of 9.3% over GPT-4o. Furthermore, OctoTools also outperforms AutoGen, GPT-Functions, and LangChain by up to 10.6% when given the same set of tools. Through comprehensive analysi, ablations, and robustness tests with compact backbones and noisy tool environments, OctoTools demonstrates advantages in task planning, effective tool usage, and multi-step problem solving. Code, demos, and visualization are publicly available at https://octotools.github.io/.

GAM: Hierarchical Graph-based Agentic Memory for LLM Agents

Zhaofen Wu, Hanrong Zhang University of Illinois at Chicago, Fulin Lin Zhejiang University, Wujiang Xu, Xinran Xu, Yankai Chen Cornell University, Henry Peng Zou University of Illinois at Chicago, Shaowen Chen 等 12 位作者

To sustain coherent long-term interactions, Large Language Model (LLM) agents must navigate the tension between acquiring new information and retaining prior knowledge. Current unified stream-based memory systems facilitate context updates but remain vulnerable to interference from transient noise. Conversely, discrete structured memory architectures provide robust knowledge retention but often struggle to adapt to fluid narrative evolution. To address this, we propose GAM, a hierarchical Graph-based Agentic Memory framework that explicitly decouples memory encoding from consolidation to effectively resolve the conflict between rapid context perception and stable knowledge retention. By isolating ongoing dialogue in a event progression graph and integrating it into a topic associative network only upon semantic shifts, our approach minimizes interference while preserving long-term consistency. Additionally, we introduce a Graph-guided, Multi-factor Retrieval strategy to enhance context precision. Experiments on LoCoMo and LongDialQA benchmarks indicate that our method consistently outperforms state-of-the-art baselines in both reasoning accuracy and computational efficiency.

From Selection to Refinement: Iterative Optimization for Instruction Data

Hang Hu, Ziyan Liu, Rujie Wen Chengdu Neusoft University, Ruihui Hou, Xueyan Wu, Mu Zhang, Jianxing Yu, Tong Ruan 等 9 位作者

Instruction tuning plays a crucial role in enhancing large language models (LLMs) to better understand complex user instructions. While various data selection and revision methods have been explored to optimize instruction tuning datasets, they face two main challenges: unreasonable pruning of potentially valuable low-quality data and the persistence of noise or semantic drift during revision. To address these issues, we propose a novel automated iterative framework for instruction data optimization. Our framework introduces Instruction Quality Differentiation to identify valuable high-quality and low-quality data across multiple dimensions. For low-quality data, we propose a Feedback-driven Iterative Refinement mechanism with an “evaluate-refine-review” process and design an Output Alignment module to improve data quality. Experiments on seven public benchmark datasets show that our framework outperforms state-of-the-art methods, achieving 2.09% and 2.60% improvements on the Alpaca and Dolly datasets, respectively, with high data efficiency. Our code and data are available at the anonymous link https://github.com/surihuhang/From-Selection-to-Refinement–-Iterative-Optimization-for-Instruction-Data.

MedVerse: Efficient and Reliable Medical Reasoning via DAG-Structured Parallel Execution

Large language models (LLMs) have demonstrated strong performance and rapid progress in a wide range of medical reasoning tasks. However, their sequential autoregressive decoding forces inherently parallel clinical reasoning, such as differential diagnosis, into a single linear reasoning path, limiting both efficiency and reliability for complex medical problems. To address this, we propose MedVerse, a reasoning framework for complex medical inference that reformulates medical reasoning as a parallelizable directed acyclic graph (DAG) process based on Petri Net theory. The framework adopts a full-stack design across data, model architecture, and system execution. For data creation, we introduce the MedVerse Curator, an automated pipeline that synthesizes knowledge-grounded medical reasoning path and transforms them into Petri Net–structured representations. At the architectural level, we propose a topology-aware attention mechanism with adaptive position indices that supports parallel reasoning while preserving logical consistency.Systematically, we develop a customized inference engine that supports parallel execution without additional overhead.Empirical evaluations show that MedVerse improves strong general-purpose LLMs by up to 8.9%. Compared to specialized medical LLMs, MedVerse achieves comparable performance with improved clinical reliability, while delivering a 1.3\times reduction in inference latency and a 1.7\times increase in generation throughput, enabled by its parallel decoding capability.
