LeanContext: Disentangling Mathematical Resources from Local Formal Context in Lean Whole-Proof Generation

Hang Zhang, Qihao Ye, Litong Liu, Yunbei Zhang, Yugyung Lee, Yue Zhou, Bowen Liu, Emily First 等 10 位作者

Neural theorem proving increasingly uses retrieved premises and project context to support proof generation. Evaluating these resources requires measuring the advantage of target-selected declarations over comparable alternatives and how this advantage depends on training. We introduce LeanContext, a benchmark of 129,826 Lean whole-proof generation problems, to investigate these questions. We group selected complete preceding mathematical declarations as Mathematical Context (MC) and the remaining selected local source commands as Environment Context (EC). Four aligned input views support crossed training and inference evaluations with shared targets and original Lean verification environments. For both diffusion- and autoregressive-based models, selected declarations outperform comparable alternatives by a larger margin when training includes MC. Final-input audits identify omitted declarations referenced by the target. Prioritizing these dependencies improves Pass@32 by 1.40% and 1.70% for LLaDA and Llama, respectively, on 2,000 targets. The selection experiment operates without access to target reference proofs and holds checkpoints, EC, and inference budgets constant. The code and dataset are available at https://github.com/haaaardcvZ/LeanContext.

ActQuant: Sub-4-bit Action-Guided Backbone Weight-Only Quantization for Vision-Language-Action Models

Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models exhibit remarkable action generation for embodied intelligence, but their heavy compute make deployment on edge platforms impractical. Aggressive, sub-4-bit weight quantization is the natural solution, yet existing post-training quantization (PTQ) methods suffer severe performance degradation in this regime. To address this, we introduce ActQuant, an action-guided mixed-precision PTQ framework that operates in two stages: (1) an inter-tensor bit allocator that assigns each weight matrix a single bit-width based on how much it contributes to predicting the agent's actions; (2) an intra-tensor scale optimizer tunes per-block quantization scales using action-aware curvature, so that dynamic range is concentrated on the weights most influential for control. To deliver the on-device benefits of our aggressive quantization, we further introduce OmniModel.cpp, an agentic conversion pipeline that ports architectures into a native C/C++ runtime with efficient low-bit kernels. We evaluate ActQuant both in simulation and on a real-world 6-DoF UR3 arm, with all models deployed through OmniModel.cpp. On the LIBERO benchmark, ActQuant is the only method that operates at or below 3 bits-per-weight, retaining 95.0% on OpenVLA-OFT and 94.8% on $π_{0.5}$. Pushed further, ActQuant reaches 2.5 bpw at 90.1% on OpenVLA-OFT, compressing the backbone from 14.3 GB to 2.7 GB (5.3$\times$). On the physical UR3 arm, $π_{0.5}$ quantized with ActQuant retains the baseline's success rate while reducing the memory footprint by 2.5$\times$.

Harness Updating Is Not Harness Benefit: Disentangling Evolution Capabilities in Self-Evolving LLM Agents

Minhua Lin, Juncheng Wu, Zijun Wang, Zhan Shi, Yisi Sang, Bing He, Zewen Liu, Tianxin Wei 等 17 位作者

LLM agents are increasingly deployed as systems built around editable external harnesses, including prompts, skills, memories and tools, that shape task execution without changing model parameters. Harness self-evolution adapts such agents by updating these harnesses from execution evidence. Yet it remains unclear whether a model's base capability in task-solving predicts its capabilities in harness self-evolution: which models produce useful harness updates, and which actually benefit from them? We analyze two harness self-evolution capabilities: (i) harness-updating, the capability to produce useful persistent harness updates from execution evidence; (ii) harness-benefit, the capability to benefit from updated harnesses during task solving. Our analysis reveals two findings. First, harness-updating is flat in base capability: models from different capability tiers produce harness updates that lead to surprisingly similar gains; even Qwen3.5-9B's updates yield gains comparable to those of Claude Opus~4.6. Second, harness-benefit is non-monotonic in base capability: weak-tier models benefit little from updated harnesses, mid-tier models benefit most, and strong-tier models benefit less than mid-tier. We trace low gains at the weak tier to two failure modes: weak-tier models may fail to activate relevant harness artifacts, or activate them but fail to follow them faithfully. These findings suggest investing capability budget in the task-solving agent rather than the evolver, and targeting harness invocation and long-horizon instruction following in agent training. Our source code is publicly available at https://github.com/A-EVO-Lab/a-evolve/tree/release/harness-evolution.

AI 速览:作者提出包含56个由物理学家基于自身研究设计的端到端物理研究基准,用确定性验证器与专家评分量表同时考察智能体研究的正确性与可发表性。

AI agents are playing an increasingly important role in physics research. However, existing physics benchmarks only evaluate fixed questions, isolated sub-tasks, or paper reproduction with given solutions, and rarely check research quality alongside correctness. We introduce FrontierPhysics, an end-to-end benchmark with 56 tasks made by 42 physicists based on their own research, covering nine domains across theoretical, computational, and experimental physics. Each task requires agents to review the literature, develop a research plan, conduct research and experiments, and produce structured outputs and scientific manuscripts. Combining deterministic verifiers with expert-authored rubrics, FrontierPhysics evaluates whether agents' research is correct and publishable. Across 22 models in 26 configurations, no configuration passes more than 46 of its 168 rollouts. Manual review of agent trajectories shows that frontier agents' main weaknesses are insufficiently rigorous reasoning and limited expert intuition, rather than gaps in physics knowledge or execution errors.

AI 速览:该研究探讨将语言模型用作研究世界模型(RWM),以预测候选实验干预的结果,并利用真实实验经验提升预测与实验选择效率。

AI research agents automate the cycle of proposing, implementing, and evaluating experiments, opening a path toward recursive self-improvement. Yet their ability to propose experiments outpaces their capacity to execute them in real environments, making outcome prediction a key capability for sustained self-improvement under limited experimental budgets. We investigate language models as Research World Models (RWMs), which predict the outcomes of candidate interventions across research environments. Our evaluation draws on over 2,600 experimental records from nine research environments spanning pretraining, post-training, and inference, representing more than 171,000 H100 GPU-hours of experimentation. Research knowledge acquired from real experimental experience improves RWM predictions of unseen interventions within the same environment (Spearman +0.27), and can be reused across environments. For example, using only pretraining experience from OLMo3, Marin, and Nanochat, an RWM reduces selection regret in the Qwen3 environment by 78% compared with zero-experience setting. These benefits extend to multi-round Autoresearch under a fixed selection budget: RWMs with in-env and cross-env research knowledge increase the best gain achieved by 15.8% and 11.6%, respectively. Ablations across 13 language models used as RWMs show that adding research knowledge can improve intervention ranking more than changing models or increasing reasoning effort alone. These findings support language models as RWMs and motivate accumulating experimental data for future RWM training.

Reglos: A Self-Evolving Personal Memory Agent with Recursive Self-Improvement

Sen Yang, Jiaduo Lin, Zehong Huang, Wen Liu

Personal agents draw on past conversations to tailor their responses to each user. Their memory systems store and update what each user says, and coding agents now also rewrite the harness that turns this memory into the model's context. Such patches risk overfitting, because one tested only on the failures it targets can fix those cases and help nowhere else. We present Reglos, a training-free personal memory agent that tests whether harness changes help beyond the failures they were written to fix. Its self-evolving memory adds to each user's append-only record with every conversation, as new preferences supersede old ones and facts can be forgotten. Its harness improves through recursive self-improvement, in which a coding agent proposes patches from failure traces and a critic from a second model family screens each one for benchmark gaming. After the harness is frozen, a fixed evaluator decides which further patches to accept. With the same backbone behind every system, Reglos outperforms state-of-the-art memory systems such as Mem0, MemOS and EverOS, reaching 61.3% and 84.0% on PersonaMem-v2 and LongMemEval-S with Qwen3.8-27B, and 57.5% and 87.2% with GPT-5.6 Luna.

Safety, or Just Capability? A Validity Audit of Agent-Safety Benchmarks

Youting Wang, Xiao Han, Dingyan Shang, Yuan Tang, Bowen Liu

Agent-safety benchmarks measure different behaviors, and their scores get quoted interchangeably as an agent's safety. We treat four of them (R-Judge, InjecAgent, AgentHarm, AgentDojo) as measurements to be validated, running each under its official implementation and author-provided scorer on up to 22 models, with MMLU and GPQA measured by us under one protocol as a capability composite. The metric is the first problem. On any binary trace-judgment benchmark scored by $F_1$, an ``always positive'' policy attains $F_1 = 2π/(1+π)$; on R-Judge that is $0.690$, above five of the 21 models that actually discriminate. The three broad-coverage benchmarks then rank the same 18 models differently, and the trade-off behind that disagreement is a small-panel artifact: R-Judge specificity against AgentHarm safety correlates $-0.64$ at $n{=}7$ and $+0.02$ at $n{=}18$, and a quarter of random size-7 subsets reach $|ρ| \geq 0.5$ around that near-zero value. Held-out validity turns on which outcome you pick. Capability predicts task success ($ρ{=}{+}0.60$) but correlates negatively with misalignment safety ($ρ{=}{-}0.44$, $n{=}21$). On their paired $n{=}20$ panel, the corresponding contrast is $Δ{=}{-}1.00$ (95% CI $[-1.48, -0.49]$, $p<0.001$), and it survives leave-one-organization-out and organization-clustered bootstrap analyses. On an expanded 41-model panel, the misalignment correlation weakens to $-0.16$ (95% CI $[-0.54, +0.22]$) and jailbreak strengthens to $+0.34$, though neither change is significant. \mbox{AgentHarm} shows the strongest held-out association, $ρ{=}{+}0.72$ with three-template jailbreak safety after controlling capability. But both instruments score harmful compliance, so this is evidence of convergent validity rather than general safety. Naming the benchmark, metric, target behavior, and model panel is the minimum a safety claim needs.

EchoNav: Evidential BEV Completion from Historical Observations for Visual Navigation

Diwen Liu, Yiyang Shao, Borui Wang, Chi Zhang, Jizhuo Chen, Jiaming Wang, Benyun Zhao, Zhongyu Li 等 9 位作者

Visual navigation in cluttered environments requires robots to recover previously observed structure and infer obstacles and free space that remain occluded. We present a framework that combines temporal aggregation and occupancy completion in an evidential bird's-eye-view (BEV) representation predicted from short RGB sequences. A decoder adapts frozen VGGT-Omega features and combines historical residual proposals using cellwise weights and a learned no-update option. The BEV predictor produces a local map in the latest ego frame without depth or camera-pose inputs or explicit geometric warping. The evidential model treats observed free space separately and predicts occupancy with associated confidence across the remaining supported region. We train the predictor on simulated RGB sequences paired with complete and visibility-masked occupancy annotations. Our experiments evaluate navigation in simulation and on a wheeled robot, with additional demonstrations on quadruped and humanoid robots. In simulated sequential two-goal navigation, our system achieves 86.3% success, outperforming the strongest evaluated baseline by 32.2 percentage points. Across 60 wheeled-robot trials in 20 scenes, it achieves 73.3% success, compared with 33.3% for the strongest evaluated baseline.

Navigational Safety of Marine Surface Vehicles in Restricted Visibility: From Intelligent Vision to Vision-Centered Multi-Sensor Fusion

Ryan Wen Liu, Fengchuan Song, Tianxiang Wang, Guobei Peng, Youngrong Kim, Xian Zhong, Hooi-Siang Kang, Maohan Liang 等 10 位作者

Marine surface vehicles (MSVs) have attracted considerable attention for their commercial, scientific, and military applications. Owing to their favorable performance-to-cost ratio, shipboard cameras are widely used to detect and recognize potentially hazardous situations across diverse operational scenarios. However, visual perception is inevitably degraded by restricted conditions, including irregular motion of the imaging platform, adverse weather, and long imaging distances. To improve situational awareness and navigation capabilities, complementary sensors, such as the automatic identification system (AIS), radar, and light detection and ranging (LiDAR), etc., have become essential shipboard equipment. Multi-sensor fusion can provide richer perceptual information and help ensure navigational safety of MSVs in restricted visibility. This article reviews recent progress from intelligent vision to vision-centered multi-sensor fusion for newcomers and researchers in intelligent ship navigation and intelligent waterborne transportation system (IWTS). After introducing the generation of quality-degraded images in restricted visibility, we will review intelligent vision methods for four key issues, i.e., shipboard video stabilization, visual perception enhancement, object detection and tracking, and navigable area segmentation. We then examine vision-centered multi-sensor fusion methods, including infrared-visible image fusion, radar-vision fusion, LiDAR-vision fusion, AIS-vision fusion, and other multi-sensor fusion scenarios. Open-source datasets and safety-critical applications are also summarized and discussed. Finally, we highlight open challenges and future research directions. The collected maritime datasets are available at https://github.com/MAPGroup/Datasets and will be regularly updated.

Hybrid LLM-Deterministic Pipelines for Enterprise-Scale Code Migration at Bloomberg

Mario Corchero, David Williams, Laszlo Kiss Kollar, Haowen Liu, Shivam Bairoliya, Gala Malbasic, Serkan Kirbas, Federica Sarro

Large organizations carry a long tail of infrastructure migrations that are worth doing but rarely urgent enough to compete with feature work, because each one costs significant engineering time per repository. This paper reports on our industrial experience from Automated Uplift, a multi-month initiative applying LLM-assisted migration pipelines across thousands of Bloomberg repositories. We examine two distinct production campaigns: a heterogeneous Python packaging migration (approx. 1,900 candidate repositories) and a uniform C++ build system migration (approx. 6,700 candidate repositories). Together, these campaigns generated 2,333 pull requests, resulting in 729 successful migrations. We detail our hybrid architectural solution which maximizes deterministic processing, confines the LLM to bounded file transformations within a pre-computed context, and incorporates runtime production telemetry (such as execution logs and usage traces). Our findings show that generating migrations turned out to be the easier part; the bottleneck was the cost, for owning teams, of reviewing, testing, and deploying them. These costs were lowered when changes could be verified directly in the pipeline before opening a PR (as with C++ compilation and test validation), and when the population was uniform enough for fixes to carry over from one repository to the next. We conclude by distilling our experience and findings into actionable, transferable patterns for architecting hybrid LLM-deterministic pipelines and scaling code migrations across the enterprise

一种用于 p 范数几何下无约束凸优化的简单自适应加速乐观对偶平均方法

A simple adaptive accelerated optimistic dual averaging method for unconstrained convex optimization in $p$-norm geometry

Bowen Li, Danqing Zhou, Chuan He

AI 速览:作者提出 A²ODA,一种在 p∈[2,∞] 的 p 范数几何下采用低成本预条件、无需线搜索的自适应加速乐观对偶平均方法,并给出收敛界。

Efficient preconditioning plays an important role in large-scale first-order optimization. In this paper, we propose an adaptive accelerated optimistic dual averaging ($\text{A}^2$ODA) method for unconstrained convex optimization that adopts low-cost preconditioning based on $p$-norm geometry for $p\in[2,\infty]$. The method is line-search-free and employs a new stepsize selection technique based on an aggregated affine lower model. Its update structure is simple and unified across $p\in[2,\infty]$, with the case $p>2$ requiring no more elaborate updates than the Euclidean case $p=2$. Under a generalized local smoothness condition, we derive a convergence bound that separates the effects of constant and gap-dependent curvature, with the latter potentially yielding faster-decaying terms. In the special case of local smoothness, this bound recovers a nearly optimal convergence rate.

MuonRec: Shifting the Optimizer Paradigm Beyond Adam in Scalable Generative Recommendation

Rong Shan, Aofan Yu, Bo Chen, Kuo Cai, Qiang Luo, Ruiming Tang, Han Li, Weiwen Liu 等 10 位作者

Recommender systems (RecSys) are increasingly emphasizing scaling, leveraging larger architectures and more interaction data to improve personalization. Yet, despite the optimizer's pivotal role in training, modern RecSys pipelines almost universally default to Adam/AdamW, with limited scrutiny of whether these choices are truly optimal for recommendation. In this work, we revisit optimizer design for scalable recommendation and introduce MuonRec, the first framework that brings the recently proposed Muon optimizer to RecSys training. Muon performs orthogonalized momentum updates for 2D weight matrices via Newton-Schulz iteration, promoting diverse update directions and improving optimization efficiency. We develop an open-source training recipe for recommendation models and evaluate it across both traditional sequential recommenders and modern generative recommenders. Extensive experiments demonstrate that MuonRec reduces converged training steps by an average of 32.4\% while simultaneously improving final ranking quality. Specifically, MuonRec yields consistent relative gains in NDCG@10, averaging 12.6\% across all settings, with particularly pronounced improvements in generative recommendation models. These results consistently outperform strong Adam/AdamW baselines, positioning Muon as a promising new optimizer standard for RecSys training. Our code is available.

Harness-S: Learning from Sibling Harnesses for Generalizable Agent Training

Kangning Zhang, Wenxiang Jiao, Bowen Fang, Shuai Shao, Jiachen Zhu, Rong Shan, Shijian Wang, Hao Wang 等 11 位作者

Harness evolution from a common base exhibits Locality, Complementarity, and Nonstationarity: variants repair different failures, and their utility changes as the policy learns. Rather than seeking a universally superior harness, we introduce Harness-S to selectively rescue failures of a base execution system through sibling harnesses and transfer the resulting capabilities into a single policy that remains effective under the original harness. Directional Harness Evolution develops specialized sibling harnesses along distinct repair directions, forming a reusable Sibling Harness Pool that remains fixed during policy training. Complementary Harness Rescue Training invokes this pool only when all initial attempts under the base harness fail. The same policy generates fresh rollouts under selected auxiliary harnesses, and these trajectories replace the failed group for reinforcement learning. An Adaptive Harness Router selects the Top-k variants using Harness Behavior Profiles and voting across multiple LLMs. Policy-aware profile re-anchoring refreshes this evidence as the policy learns. Across AppWorld, SWE-Gym, and DBBench, the trained policy substantially outperforms policy-only training when returned to the original base harness. Behavioral analyses and held-out cases support the transfer of harness-elicited behaviors into the policy itself. Reusing the router for Rank-1 inference provides additional gains at the same executor rollout count.

ScrambleMark: Zero-Query Watermark-Agnostic Black-Box Evasion of Modern Speech Watermarking

Binhao Ma, Weikang Ding, Hanqing Guo, Wenwei Zhao, Xiaowen Li, Leah Ding, Zhuo Lu, Rui Duan

Speech watermarking is becoming a key defense for digital copyright and content authentication. Existing attacks treat evasion as a removal problem: they erase the watermark, relying on detector access or on speech data that is hard to collect, such as paired clean-watermarked or clean target speaker speech. Commercial platforms are moving to close off these assumptions. TrustedAudio, for instance, restricts detection to authenticated users and denies meaningful detection feedback to unauthorized parties. Adversaries thus cannot tell whether a sample is watermarked or which watermark it carries, nor reliably remove it without degrading speech quality. In this work, we show that evading a speech watermark does not require erasing it: detection relies on the structural consistency of the embedded pattern, and disrupting this consistency is enough to defeat it. Building on this observation, we identify harmonic structure as an effective attack surface, as perturbing it breaks watermark consistency while preserving perceptual quality. We therefore propose ScrambleMark, a zero-query, watermark-agnostic, black-box attack that evades detection through harmonic scrambling. ScrambleMark combines a deterministic engine for discovering transferable harmonic perturbations with a generative model that learns randomized scrambling patterns, avoiding reliance on fixed attack rules. Across three commercial platforms (Google SynthID, Resemble AI, and TrustedAudio), ScrambleMark is the only attack to both evade detection and keep speech natural, achieving nearly 97% evasion and a 4.2/5 human rating, far above the 1.1 to 1.7 of prior attacks. Beyond evasion, ScrambleMark withstands adaptive recovery designed to reverse it, evidence that structural evasion is hard to mitigate in practice.

Benchmarking Generalist and Specialist Time-Series Foundation Models for PPG-Based Health Assessment

Saurabh Kataria, Yi Wu, Zhaoliang Chen, Hyunjung Gloria Kwak, Yuhao Xu, Lovely Yeswanth Panchumarthi, Ran Xiao, Jiaying Lu 等 26 位作者

Time-series Foundation Models (FMs) are pretrained on either heterogeneous corpora or specific signal domains. Using Photoplethysmography (PPG) as a representative modality, we compare generalist time-series FMs, PPG-specialist FMs, and traditional machine learning (ML) baselines for PPG-based health assessment. We conduct a two-stage benchmark. First, we evaluate multiple FM families across 23 downstream evaluations (e.g., atrial fibrillation detection, vital-sign estimation). Second, we conduct a focused four-FM comparison (MOMENT, Chronos-2, GPT-PPG, MOMENT-PPG) at multiple model sizes on an expanded 51-task suite, under both frozen-backbone and full-model tuning, to study tuning strategy, model scaling, and cross-dataset transfer. The multi-model benchmark shows that PPG-specialist FMs achieve the strongest aggregate performance, but their advantage is not uniform: generalist FMs remain competitive on several tasks, and traditional ML baselines outperform FMs on selected clinical regression tasks. The focused analysis shows that the advantage of PPG-specific pretraining appears mainly with frozen backbones and on targets that the waveform directly reflects, such as atrial fibrillation and vital signs. Full-model tuning narrows this advantage, model rankings change with the tuning strategy, and the largest model variant is the best choice in only about one-third of cases. Additionally, controlled experiments with two generalist models show that initializing PPG pretraining from generalist checkpoints provides an early advantage over training from scratch, even when the pretrained features offer little downstream benefit. Together, these findings suggest that PPG-specific pretraining is useful but task-dependent, and that FMs should be evaluated against simpler statistical, traditional ML, and clinical history-based baselines.

FORGE: Fault-Oriented Rework Code Generation for Executable Interlocking Assembly

Fuqiang Wang, Jiahao Fu, Ren Hefeng, Yining Qian, Chuanting Zhang, Cheng Tan, Yuwen Liu, Jingxuan Wei

Large language models have demonstrated strong capabilities in structured reasoning and code generation, yet identifying an assembly fault does not guarantee the ability to generate executable rework programs. In interlocking assemblies, a locally plausible repair program may violate blocking dependencies, omit required recovery operations, or terminate in an incorrect configuration. We identify this challenge as fault-conditioned executable rework generation, where models must jointly reason about structural failures and generate programs that restore constrained assembly states. To benchmark this capability, we introduce FORGE-Bench, containing 4,000 tasks across 26 interlocking assemblies with five assemblies held out for evaluating generalization to unseen structures. We further propose FORGE (Fault-Oriented Rework Code Generation for Executable Interlocking Assembly), a structured state-to-program framework that decomposes rework generation into Rework Structuring and Action Grounding. Rework Structuring captures fault-induced recovery dependencies, while Action Grounding maps these dependencies into state-conditioned executable actions. Experiments show that locally reasonable repair code is insufficient for reliable assembly recovery, and that connecting structural recovery reasoning with executable action realization is essential for verified target restoration.

RecRSI: Mechanism-Guided Discovery of Recommendation Algorithms

Tingran Gan, Zhouziyue Lu, Dian Jin, Tao Li, Yang Gao, Ming Liu, Weiwen Liu, Jianghao Lin 等 10 位作者

Improving recommendation algorithms for the Web requires coordinating interacting design choices and learning from experiments. We present RecRSI, an LLM-based research framework that uses mechanism hypotheses to organize algorithm discovery. Each hypothesis links a proposed mechanism change to a reference design, a rationale, and an expected observation. MechSpace derives implementable primitives and composition rules from the task source; Research Line uses this space and prior evidence to develop and test hypotheses; Mechanism Feedback carries outcomes and their design context into subsequent research. This organization makes each experiment inform which mechanisms to develop, revise, or combine next. Across four initial recommenders and four datasets, RecRSI yields average relative improvements of 8.48% in NDCG@5 and 6.88% in HR@5 over the initial algorithms, and 2.60% and 2.20%, respectively, over the strongest competing result for each setting and metric. Component and process studies link these gains to coordinated mechanism choices and evidence-guided follow-up. Our code is publicly available at https://github.com/DynamisG210/RecRSI.

MAGAR: Multimodal Agents for GUI-Based 3D Mechanical Assembly and Minimal Rework

Jingxuan Wei, Jiahao Fu, Fuqiang Wang, Xiaoming Wu, Yuwen Liu, Kaiwen Wei, Ming Yang, Junnan Zhu

A GUI command can be correct at the interface level yet still produce an incorrect assembly. An agent must identify the relevant components, respect their structural relationships, and determine which parts should move during recovery. We introduce MAGAR-Bench, a benchmark of 4,000 multimodal samples from 26 assembly families that separates Assembly Decision, Atomic Action, and Minimal Rework. For rework, the objective counts distinct moved parts within the validated recovery candidate set for each state, rather than the number of actions. We also introduce MAGAR, a selective correction framework built on a frozen policy obtained by supervised fine-tuning. Its key design matches correction granularity to output dependencies. Structured candidates revise assembly fields and rework scope, while complete action candidates keep native GUI primitives coupled with their parameters. A learned selector retains the original prediction unless a candidate passes a task-specific intervention threshold. On recorded states from held-out assembly families, MAGAR improves Overall, the task-balanced aggregate, from 37.50 to 41.39, with gains on all three tasks. Across 209 interventions, 70 correct an error and 22 introduce one. These results support task-specific correction while highlighting the remaining tradeoff between fixing errors and preserving reliable predictions.

Language Models Learn to Improve Language Models

Minhua Lin, Zijun Wang, Zewen Liu, Zhaotian Weng, Bing He, Zhan Shi, Benoit Dumoulin, Xiang Zhang 等 10 位作者

Large language models (LLMs) are increasingly used to automate AI research, including language-model (LM) development, offering a potential path toward recursive self-improvement. However, turning experimental feedback into a learned ability to propose effective improvements across models faces two challenges. First, training such an ability with real feedback is expensive: reinforcement learning (RL) requires evaluating tens of thousands of proposals, each potentially requiring a full model-training run. Even at ten GPU-hours per run, reward collection alone would consume hundreds of thousands of GPU-hours, motivating a cheaper surrogate. Second, surrogate feedback can become unreliable as policy optimization favors overestimated proposals when the proposal distribution shifts. To address these challenges, we propose LM2LM, which trains LLMs with RL to generate effective LM improvement proposals. To provide scalable feedback, we use a research world model (RWM), a frozen LLM that predicts proposal gains from real experimental records provided in context, as the reward model for RL. To maintain feedback reliability, we periodically execute current-policy proposals ranked highly by the RWM and add their measured outcomes to its context. Across eight autoregressive and diffusion LM development environments, real-execution evaluations on held-out tasks show that LM2LM enables Qwen3.8-27B to outperform GPT-6-sol, even when GPT-6-sol is given 300 real experimental records in context, while requiring 33% lower data-generation cost. LM2LM also generalizes to a model family unseen during training.

Scientific agents collaborate with researchers whose expertise and preferences differ, but benchmarks usually hold the collaborator fixed. We introduce PersonaScienceBench: 200 tasks from five benchmarks across four scientific domains. Simulated researchers provide context and feedback according to persona profiles, while task objectives and grading remain fixed. Agents encounter researcher preferences only through conversation. Across eighteen modelconfigurations, task performance, fact recovery, and self-repetition reveal different strengths. Detailed GPT 6 Astra analyses show distinct agent responses across researcher profiles; interaction traces illustrate targeted clar ification and workflow revision. These behaviors can differ even when final scores match. PersonaScienceBench therefore evaluates how agents collaborate with diverse researchers alongside whether they complete the task.

Current medical artificial intelligence (AI) systems are often task-specific, poorly integrated, and difficult to interpret, limiting support for multimodal clinical workflows. We developed and evaluated EyeAgent for ophthalmic decision support. EyeAgent comprises three layers including 54 task-specific EyeTools, 32 clinical skills, and a modular large language model reasoning core with interchangeable backbones. A multi-level evaluation distinguished this scope from empirical system-level validation. Component-level evaluation assessed newly developed models on held-out splits of datasets totaling 871,862 samples. System-level evaluation included illustrative cases of workflow breadth, a 200-case expert-rating study of output quality, and an exploratory multicenter reader study comparing unassisted and EyeAgent-assisted performance among 27 ophthalmologists from 11 centers. Skill-level and backbone ablations further assessed orchestration and robustness. In illustrative cases, EyeAgent showed task-specific advantages over GPT-5.5 in lesion quantitation, cross-modality synthesis, and uncertainty-aware reporting. In the expert-rating study, EyeAgent achieved an F1 score of 0.84 for skill selection, with 82.7%-92.0% of outputs rated acceptable or better across six clinical dimensions. In the exploratory multicenter reader study, diagnostic accuracy increased from 72.8% unassisted to 91.9% assisted (difference, 19.1 percentage points (pp); 95% CI, 13.6-24.7; Holm-adjusted P<0.001). Report completeness increased from 55.8% to 75.6% (difference, 19.8 pp; 95% CI, 14.8-24.7; Holm-adjusted P<0.001). Across the evaluated settings, EyeAgent supported interpretable, evidence-guided reasoning and showed potential for human-AI collaboration. Broader real-world effectiveness and generalizability require prospective and cross-population validation.

Adaptive Auto-Harness: Sustained Self-Improvement for Agentic System Deployment on Open-Ended Task Streams

Auto-harness systems improve LLM agents by adapting prompts, skills, tools, and supporting infrastructure from execution feedback. Sustaining these gains on open-ended task streams requires handling growing histories, heterogeneous tasks, and shifting distributions. We introduce Adaptive Auto-Harness, a unified framework that separates persistent evolution workspaces from deployable harnesses and supports interchangeable evolution procedures. We compare configurations adapted from five prior approaches on recorded streams of prediction markets, security challenges, and event forecasts. With the same Sonnet solver, our full system reaches 80.9\% market all-task accuracy and 50.2\% security Pass@1, versus 22.2\% and 37.2\% without evolution; market accuracy also exceeds a market-following control's 72.0\%. Our analyses show that artifact accumulation does not guarantee sustained gains, and knowledge that transfers across tasks can still lose value as the task distribution changes. Continued evolution can therefore help preserve earlier gains through revision of accumulated knowledge. Code: https://github.com/A-EVO-Lab/a-evolve.

连续动作世界模型:学习跨具身时空动力学先验

Continuous-Action World Models: Learning Cross-Embodiment Spatiotemporal Dynamics Priors

Liangyu Li, Qingwen Liu

AI 速览:提出 CoAWM 框架,通过共享潜在函数空间学习跨具身、跨执行频率的机器人动作时空动力学先验,以支持动作生成。

We introduce Continuous-Action World Models (CoAWM), a framework for learning cross-embodiment spatiotemporal dynamics priors that support robot action generation across embodiments and execution frequencies. At its core is a shared latent function space that captures the spatial and temporal structure of robot actions. We learn this space through two stages. First, function pretraining brings trajectories from different embodiments and sampling frequencies into a common representation, learning shared dynamics priors through action reconstruction and consistency across temporal sampling views. By accommodating heterogeneous robot trajectories, this stage broadens the range of data sources available for pretraining and facilitates scaling to larger and more diverse datasets. Second, we connect the pretrained function space to a world-model backbone, enabling observations, language instructions, and the current robot state to condition the prediction of a latent action function. A single decoder takes any query time and returns the corresponding end-effector action. By separating shared dynamics priors from task-conditioned action selection and temporal sampling, our approach provides a unified foundation for transferring robot experience across embodiments and control frequencies.

Does System Size Matter in Uncertainty Quantification for Machine Learning Interatomic Potentials?

Chayaphol Lortaraprasert, Nontawat Charoenphakdee, Wenwen Li, Yong-Bin Zhuang, Yuta Tsuboi

Machine-learning interatomic potentials (MLIPs) commonly use uncertainty estimates to flag out-of-distribution (OOD) configurations and select structures for active learning. A key question is whether the resulting structure-level uncertainty scores remain comparable across different system sizes. A common practice is to aggregate per-atom uncertainties by their mean or maximum and compare the resulting score against a fixed threshold, implicitly assuming such comparability. We test this assumption across several in-distribution (ID)/OOD pairs by characterizing both aggregations as a function of atom count. The two aggregations exhibit distinct size dependencies. Mean aggregation remains size-independent for homogeneous systems but loses sensitivity to defects in large cells. In contrast, maximum aggregation grows with system size for ID systems while remaining approximately flat for defect-containing systems, narrowing the ID-OOD gap in a manner consistent with extreme-value statistics. Although highly uncertain atoms in large structures may indicate novel local environments, retraining on these structures yields little improvement, in contrast to retraining on OOD structures constructed to lie outside the training distribution. Our results reveal a practical limitation of size-unaware uncertainty criteria and motivate size-aware calibration for more reliable OOD detection in large-scale atomistic simulations.

AI Cosmos: An Agentic Infra for Situated Learning

AI Cosmos Team, Jinfeng Zhou, Yuxuan Chen, Fangming Chang, Mingyu Su, Yifan Zhu, Yuan Wang, Bo Zhang 等 35 位作者

Large language models (LLMs) can improve task performance during learning, yet these gains do not necessarily reflect learners' ability to thereafter apply the knowledge and skills independently. We present AI Cosmos, an agentic infrastructure for situated learning that organizes learning around two complementary principles: scenario-based participation and cumulative assets of practice. AI Cosmos organizes learners and role-specialized agents within learning scenarios that integrate task-relevant knowledge and, when needed, executable workbenches. An asset-memory loop preserves the processes and outcomes of practice as reusable assets with explicit provenance and dependencies. We evaluate scenario-based interaction through two preregistered randomized controlled studies examining the acquisition of legal reasoning and programming competence, holding the same underlying LLM across conditions. AI Cosmos achieves greater learning gains than a conventional LLM in legal reasoning and higher mastery of unseen programming problems than an LLM-as-Teacher baseline.

DWISE: Denoising Workload-Informed Scheduling Engine

Lie Li, Wen Li, Junxiao Shen, Jindong Gu, Guosheng Hu

Unlike autoregressive large language models (AR-LLMs), diffusion LLMs (dLLMs) generate text by iteratively denoising many tokens in parallel, offering a promising path to efficient inference. Existing serving frameworks, however, schedule dLLM requests with policies designed for AR models, namely first-come-first-served (FCFS) admission and prefill priority. We find that both policies are ill-suited to dLLMs, wasting much of their speed. FCFS ignores that a dLLM request's decoding cost is highly heterogeneous and unknown at arrival, causing severe head-of-line blocking. Prefill priority, widely used in AR-LLM serving to keep time-to-first-token low, sharply cuts dLLM efficiency, as rounds that run only prompts leave most of the batch idle. We present DWISE, a Denoising Workload-Informed Scheduling Engine for efficient dLLM serving. DWISE schedules requests by their remaining work, measured in a block-level unit shared by prefill and denoising, so both phases share a round. To predict the unknown denoising workload, DWISE combines a lightweight prompt-based predictor at admission with a single refinement from the first denoising round's hidden states, which capture model-specific information absent from the prompt and require no additional model execution. Implemented in SGLang and evaluated on five models from three dLLM families under bursty workloads, DWISE reduces mean end-to-end latency over SGLang by 5.4$\times$ on average and up to 14.9$\times$ while preserving task accuracy. The code will be released publicly.

Timbre: Reliability-aware harmonic consensus for label-free multimodal test-time rexinforcement learning

Haotian Lyu, Haoyu Wang, Ru Wang, Feng Ji, Ziwen Li, Jiaxian Guo, Mingming Gong

Label-free test-time reinforcement learning adapts vision--language models using rewards derived from their own predictions. However, misinterpreted visual evidence and sensitivity to textual formulation can produce a consistent but incorrect consensus that majority voting reinforces. Cross-view aggregation can expose such errors, but image and text transformations may themselves degrade task-relevant evidence to different extents. We introduce \method, a reliability-aware harmonic consensus framework for multimodal test-time reinforcement learning. \method constructs a $2\times2$ grid combining original and perturbed images with direct-solving and reframing modes, selects pseudo-labels through weighted harmonic aggregation, and adapts modality-level weights using batch-averaged, temporally smoothed shifts in pseudo-label confidence as a heuristic reliability signal. We formulate consensus as a weighted $χ^2$-barycenter problem whose unique minimizer is the normalized weighted harmonic aggregate, without requiring correct-answer invariance. An exact support--dispersion decomposition characterizes when harmonic aggregation preserves or corrects arithmetic rankings, while a sensitivity analysis establishes how modality reweighting changes pairwise ranking margins, informing interpretation of the heuristic updates. Across six benchmarks and three Qwen3-VL model scales, \method outperforms TTRV in 16 of 18 benchmark--model settings on adaptation instances and 17 of 18 settings on held-out instances under matched estimation and optimization rollout counts. These results demonstrate improved target-task adaptation and transfer to unseen instances without further updates.

Utility-WAM: Correcting Future-Induced Action Changes

Feihong Zhang, Xi Lin, Yulong Shi, Zuxing Lu, Yanghong Mei, Zhaopeng Gu, Tingyu Yuan, Zihao Liang 等 10 位作者

World Action Models (WAMs) can condition robot actions on generated visual futures, but this additional context is neither cost-free nor uniformly beneficial. We examine what a predicted future actually changes: the action delta $Δa$ between the future-conditioned and future-free execution paths of the same model. Under a shared WAM checkpoint, this delta barely shifts average benchmark success ($+0.8$ points on LIBERO, $-0.8$ on RoboTwin~2.0), while generating visual futures increases inference latency by 1.7--1.9$\times$. These aggregate metrics conceal a concentrated failure mode that we term \emph{future-induced negative transfer}: while predictive deltas benefit long-horizon tasks ($+2.4$ points on LIBERO-Long) and remain negligible on most routine manipulations, they induce severe degradation on precision tasks---with \emph{Press Stapler} and \emph{Place Can Basket} losing 54.0 and 34.0 points, recurring as top failure modes across independently trained WAM variants. We introduce \textbf{Utility-WAM} for in-place correction of future-conditioned control. Its primary learning component is a residual adapter that repairs future-induced velocity deltas under a frozen shared WAM by aligning them with ground-truth dynamic guidance and penalizing excess error beyond the future-free baseline. The adapter selectively eliminates the majority of severe task drops (reducing losses to 6.0 and 14.0 points) while preserving long-horizon foresight. To eliminate superfluous video computation, a lightweight pre-generation gate reuses counterfactual action outcomes to selectively bypass video generation on 75.5\% of RoboTwin queries, cutting latency by 38\% while improving average success to 93.3\% on RoboTwin~2.0 and 98.9\% on LIBERO. On physical bimanual manipulation across three real-world tasks, Utility-WAM succeeds in 53 of 60 trials, compared to 43 for FAST-WAM.

Learning Functional Specialisation for Bimanual Robotic Control

Jingwen Li, Levin Kuhlmann, Jason Friedman, Gideon Kowadlo

Bimanual robotic control requires simultaneous management of distinct functional demands under motor noise, energetic costs, and communication delays. We investigate how learning responsibility should be organised across modular controllers and the two arms in a simulated musculoskeletal system with two communicating recurrent controllers. Using a 2 x 2 design, we compare differential versus shared controller objectives and fixed versus balanced hand-task assignments. Task-aligned functional specialisation was strongest when differential objectives were combined with a fixed assignment aligned with contralateral control routing. This condition achieved the highest canonical-task performance and control efficiency, reaching 81.33% bimanual success. Its advantage over shared objectives increased with motor noise but narrowed under stronger energy penalties. Stronger specialisation also reduced hand-role flexibility: reversing the hand roles decreased bimanual success by 80.46 percentage points under Differential-Fixed training, compared with 1.51 percentage points under Shared-Balanced training. These results show that controller objectives and hand-task experience jointly determine functional organisation. Stronger role-specific specialisation favours performance and efficiency when roles remain stable, whereas more distributed training favours interchangeability when roles change.

FYC: FPR-Disparity Weight Perturbation and Youden Calibration for Fair Deepfake Detection

Uzoamaka Ezeakunne, Taiwo Olabamipe, Deevesh Jain, Xiuwen Liu

Deepfake detectors routinely achieve high aggregate accuracy while exhibiting substantial demographic disparities in their errors: false-positive rates differ by double digits across gender and skin tone. Most existing remedies require either full retraining with a fairness-aware objective or demographic-annotated training data, both impractical when only a pretrained checkpoint is available, while label-free post-hoc calibrators leave the detector's weights unchanged. We introduce FYC (FPR-disparity Weight Perturbation and Youden Calibration), a two-stage post-hoc method that perturbs a detector's weights under an FPR-disparity criterion, then calibrates a separate decision threshold for each demographic group - requiring no architectural changes and no full retraining. Evaluated against every detector benchmarked on AI-Face v2 across six intersectional gender x skin-tone groups, FYC outperforms the field on 18 of 21 reported fairness and utility metrics, including purpose-built fairness architectures, at a fraction of the training cost. We further identify why the choice of fairness criterion is critical: the original Demographic Parity objective used in prior weight-perturbation work is architecture-dependent and unpredictable, improving two of four evaluated architectures, leaving a third largely unchanged, and substantially degrading the fourth (PG-FDD), with no way to anticipate the outcome for a given checkpoint in advance. Conditioning the same objective on real images only - our FPR-disparity criterion - eliminates this unpredictability, improving fairness and accuracy jointly across all four architectures with no exceptions.
