AI agents are playing an increasingly important role in physics research. However, existing physics benchmarks only evaluate fixed questions, isolated sub-tasks, or paper reproduction with given solutions, and rarely check research quality alongside correctness. We introduce FrontierPhysics, an end-to-end benchmark with 56 tasks made by 42 physicists based on their own research, covering nine domains across theoretical, computational, and experimental physics. Each task requires agents to review the literature, develop a research plan, conduct research and experiments, and produce structured outputs and scientific manuscripts. Combining deterministic verifiers with expert-authored rubrics, FrontierPhysics evaluates whether agents' research is correct and publishable. Across 22 models in 26 configurations, no configuration passes more than 46 of its 168 rollouts. Manual review of agent trajectories shows that frontier agents' main weaknesses are insufficiently rigorous reasoning and limited expert intuition, rather than gaps in physics knowledge or execution errors.

Tight Coreset Bounds for $(k,z)$-Clustering in Euclidean and Doubling Metrics

Junqiu Hu, Lingxiao Huang, Jian Li, Baoduo Xu

原文摘要

We determine the optimal worst-case size of strong coresets for $(k,z)$-clustering in Euclidean spaces and doubling metrics, up to polylogarithmic factors. In Euclidean space, previous lower bounds matched the best upper bounds only for $\varepsilon\gtrsim k^{-1/(z+2)}$. We close the gap for arbitrarily small $\varepsilon$, establishing the optimal size $\widetildeΘ(\min\{k^{(2z+2)/(z+2)}\varepsilon^{-2},\,k\varepsilon^{-z-2}\})$ for every fixed $z\ge1$, all $k\ge1$, and $0<\varepsilon<1$. Our lower bound replaces each offset in a previous hard instance by a group of distinct offsets. A fixed family of $k$-center queries and four-wise independent signs force a large relative cost error for every sufficiently small subset with arbitrary nonnegative weights. For doubling metrics of dimension $D$, we resolve the previously unmatched bounds for $z>2$. We prove an upper bound of $\widetilde O(k^{2-2/z}D\varepsilon^{-2})$ and a lower bound that, together with known upper bounds, establishes the optimal size $\widetildeΘ(kD\min\{k^{1-2/z}\varepsilon^{-2},\,\varepsilon^{-z}\})$ for fixed $z>2$, $0<\varepsilon\le\varepsilon_z$, and $D\ge C_z\log(2/\varepsilon)$, where $C_z>0$ and $\varepsilon_z\in(0,1)$ depend only on $z$. The lower bound exploits the ability to encode $Θ(D)$ independent signs per center without diluting relative cost discrepancy. For the upper bound, we use independent, unbiased two-point summaries that exactly preserve cluster mass and anchor cost, combined with iterative size reduction.

Rose: Efficient Embodied RL through Graph Optimization and GPU Compute Resource Control

Wen Zeng, Ke Hong, Xu Fu, Zixiao Huang, Zehao Wang, Zhuoran Zhu, Yuanqing Wang, Bo Dai 等 17 位作者

原文摘要

Embodied reinforcement learning (RL) coordinates policy inference, simulation, and model training with highly heterogeneous resource demands. Although individual components frequently underutilize GPU compute during execution, existing systems only overlap work at coarse component boundaries (e.g., pipelining inference and simulation across simulator groups), leaving substantial low-activity GPU windows within subcomponent phases and nested loops. Exploiting these fine-grained windows manually requires tedious dependency analysis and workload-specific coordination. Furthermore, even when independent work is scheduled concurrently, cross-process GPU time slicing and streaming multiprocessor (SM) contention can negate the benefits of overlap. We present Rose, a runtime-aware system that automates fine-grained overlap and GPU resource management for embodied RL while preserving synchronous training semantics. Through a lightweight programmable interface that exposes execution hierarchy and state accesses, Rose tracks runtime data readiness and GPU activity to perform a two-stage optimization. First, a window-guided graph optimizer identifies low-activity windows and applies graph transformations to overlap complementary work across components and loop levels. Second, leveraging NVIDIA Multi-Process Service (MPS) for cross-process GPU concurrency, a slack-aware resource manager tunes process-level SM quotas by exploiting branch synchronization slack to mitigate interference on the critical path. Both stages combine local profiling with end-to-end iteration validation to guarantee throughput gains with minimal tuning overhead. Across diverse policies, simulators, RL algorithms, and GPU platforms, Rose achieves 1.20--1.92$\times$ training throughput improvement and increases average SM activity by 23.8--39.3\% compared with the state-of-the-art systems.

RepoTrace: Improving Requirement Tracing in Multi-Round Agent Interactions

Huanyu Liu, Yezheng Cheng, Jinliang You, Tianxiao Huang, Linyu Li, Zheng Fang, Peng Cao, Ge Li

原文摘要

Code agents have become increasingly capable of performing software engineering tasks through interaction with software environments. However, agents tend to degrade as the number of interaction rounds increases, making it difficult to maintain existing software during iterative modification. We analyze 2,656 agent trajectories in EvoCode-Bench and identify requirement focus misalignment as a recurring failure pattern, where agents struggle to distinguish the primary modification targets of a requirement from unrelated code. We propose Repotrace a requirement-driven repository understanding harness that combines repository structure with requirement semantics to construct a requirement-code correspondence and injects it into the agent context. This correspondence enables code agents to follow the repository architecture, trace requirements across multi-round interactions, and identify the core code elements corresponding to the current requirement. Experiments show that Repotrace improves the mean per-round reward (MPR) across different models (e.g., +19.99 on GLM-5.2) and agent harnesses (e.g., +10.22 on Claude Code). Across rounds, Repotrace increases the average per-round reward from 0.163 to 0.371 on Terminus-2 with DeepSeek-V4-Pro, while reducing average regression errors by 56.78%. We release the source code and agents' trajectories to support future research.

原文摘要

Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) has long been a promising paradigm for enhancing large language models (LLMs) with external knowledge. Traditional embedding-based methods for graph construction can capture semantic similarity but struggle to establish fine-grained, interpretable logical relationships. Recently, Graph-enhanced RAG (GraphRAG) has gained increasing popularity for its capability in modeling logical relationships. However, graph construction requires extensive token consumption for triple extraction and summarization, making it costly and slow. Accordingly, we propose MeshRAG, a novel framework for mining efficient structures via hashing to enhance RAG. We adopt an inductive paradigm in which global graph structure emerges from local hash collisions rather than explicit symbolic extraction. By replacing neural embedding search with lightweight and bitwise operations, MeshRAG automates a simple and rapid graph construction process. Furthermore, the hash collision mechanism provides transparent evidence for logical connections and retrieval decisions. Experimental results show that MeshRAG outperforms existing baselines, while its graph construction requires no GPU resources or token budget and can structure over ten thousand chunks in a few minutes.

LegalGraphRAG: Multi-Agent Graph Retrieval-Augmented Generation for Reliable Legal Reasoning

原文摘要

Graph-based Retrieval-Augmented Generation (GraphRAG) advances flat document retrieval by structuring knowledge as relational graphs, enabling more coherent and effective reasoning. However, applying it to specific domains like legal reasoning faces critical challenges. (i) Legal corpora are heterogeneous, containing multi-granular knowledge from cases, articles and interpretations. A flat knowledge graph cannot adequately differentiate between factual details, applied rules, and abstract principles, limiting accurate retrieval. (ii) Reliable legal judgment demands transparent, evidence-based reasoning. Traditional RAG passes retrieved context directly to an LLM without verification, resulting in opaque, error-prone reasoning. To this end, we propose LegalGraphRAG, a framework designed for reliable legal reasoning. Our approach introduces two core components: a hierarchical legal graph that hierarchically organizes legal sources to enable retrieval at appropriate abstraction levels, and a multi-agent system for reliable legal reasoning, where a Researcher retrieves candidate evidence, an Auditor rigorously verifies its validity against source documents, and an Adjudicator synthesizes the set of verified evidence to render a final judgment. Extensive experiments show that LegalGraphRAG achieves the state-of-the-art performance, outperforming existing GraphRAG baselines in accurate and trustworthy legal analysis. Our code, datasets and implementation details are available at https://github.com/XMUDeepLIT/LegalGraphRAG.

LogicPoison: Logical Attacks on Graph Retrieval-Augmented Generation

原文摘要

Graph-based Retrieval-Augmented Generation (GraphRAG) enhances the reasoning capabilities of Large Language Models (LLMs) by grounding their responses in structured knowledge graphs. Leveraging community detection and relation filtering techniques, GraphRAG systems demonstrate inherent resistance to traditional RAG attacks, such as text poisoning and prompt injection. However, in this paper, we find that the security of GraphRAG systems fundamentally relies on the topological integrity of the underlying graph, which can be undermined by implicitly corrupting the logical connections, without altering surface-level text semantics. To exploit this vulnerability, we propose LogicPoison, a novel attack framework that targets logical reasoning rather than injecting false contents. Specifically, LogicPoison employs a type-preserving entity swapping mechanism to perturb both global logic hubs for disrupting overall graph connectivity and query-specific reasoning bridges for severing essential multi-hop inference paths. This approach effectively reroutes valid reasoning into dead ends while maintaining surface-level textual plausibility. Comprehensive experiments across multiple benchmarks demonstrate that LogicPoison successfully bypasses GraphRAG’s defenses, significantly degrading performance and outperforming state-of-the-art baselines in both effectiveness and stealth. Our code is available at https://github.com/Jord8061/logicPoison.

Query-Aware Knowledge Retrieval via Hyperbolic Structuring

Chuang Zhou, Junnan Dong, Yilin Xiao, Shengyuan Chen, Su Dong, di Yin Tencent Youtu, Xing Sun Tencent YouTu Lab, Zhaozhuo Xu Workato and Stevens Institute of Technology 等 9 位作者

原文摘要

Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) has demonstrated significant potential in enhancing large language models (LLMs) by supplementing external knowledge. However, existing approaches focus primarily on retrieving isolated factual knowledge entities while neglecting the critical reasoning relationships. To address this limitation, Graph-Augmented Generation (GraphRAG) has emerged as an effective solution, which explicitly integrates structured knowledge graphs to support complex reasoning tasks. Although diverse graph construction methods have been explored, they typically rely on static, query-agnostic graphs constructed via fixed heuristics. We are thereby motivated to propose a query-centric retrieval framework that adaptively constructs a graph tailored to each query. However, it is challenging to accurately identify these latent relationships from queries to the corpus. Moreover, unifying multiple local-perspective connections into a globally coherent structured corpus introduces additional complexity. To this end, we introduce HyperRAG, a novel framework in the Hyperbolic space that captures both explicit entity-based links and implicit query-aware connections. Extensive experiments on three benchmark datasets demonstrate that HyperRAG consistently outperforms existing baselines.
